[27:39]to hasten the reappearance of our awaited IM our request we recite
[27:47]three salawat with the loudest of our voices respected brothers and sisters
[28:07]in Islam the verses that we start the verse that we started
[28:15]with tonight is in Surah alasas verse number four when we look
[28:18]into the reason of the revelation of Surah alasas we would notice
[28:22]that it is related to a historical incident alas was Muhammad Muhammad
[28:33]Al was mainly revealed during the migration of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi
[28:38]wasallam from meca to Medina as many of you may know that
[28:44]the situation on of the Muslims inside the Society of quray became
[28:47]very critical is that many of the Muslims were complaining to the
[28:50]prophet sallallahu alaih Al wasallam due to the torture that they were
[28:56]being under from the ruling class of quray and Allah subhanahu wa
[28:58]tala wanted to almost Comfort the heart of the new converts of
[29:01]the religion of Islam trying to set the example and the parable
[29:06]of the Israelites under the reign of Faron telling them that adopting
[29:10]the path of truth will indeed will result in certain struggle yet
[29:14]as a conclusion Allah subhanahu wa tala always promises the victory of
[29:18]the righteous ones in society the same way that the Israelites were
[29:22]waiting for the Savior na mus Alam and he did return to
[29:27]them and save saved them from Faron the same way will happen
[29:29]with the Muslims under the uh who were being tortured under the
[29:34]reign of the ruling class of quray and there upon the result
[29:36]will be the victory of the religion of Islam and thereupon the
[29:40]migration occurred and the Muslims formed a capital in the in the
[29:47]Society of Medina as the inhabitants of Medina accepted the message of
[29:50]the Prophet sallallahu alai wasallam embraced the message of the religion of
[29:55]Islam and thereupon fought for it Allah subhana tala here sets an
[29:59]example by he says that that the first thing that he described
[30:04]with by saying is what Pharaoh indeed tyrannized over the land is
[30:10]that he um identified far as being a tyrant over the land
[30:16]and remember what we spoke about last night when we spoke about
[30:18]that that one of the characteristics that was given to was that
[30:22]he was indeed given T by Allah subhanahu wa tala there's a
[30:25]similarity between those two verses is that in the first verse Allah
[30:31]subh in Al when he speaks about he said that we granted
[30:33]him power in the land in this verse Allah is describing Fon
[30:39]by being a a person who was a tyrant in the land
[30:41]meaning what meaning that there are two types of rulers according to
[30:46]the Holy Quran and it as if Allah subhana tal is setting
[30:48]for us an example in this regard is that one can be
[30:54]granted power yet this person could be either um uh given that
[30:57]power by Allah subhana and thereupon will act justly and he will
[31:01]rule according to the Divine Law of Allah subhana wa tala or
[31:06]it could be a person like f that sure he was given
[31:08]power that he was given that power not from Allah subhana tala
[31:13]but therefore he and rather than actually ruling with Justice he ended
[31:18]up tyrannizing his own people and that's why Allah says what indeed
[31:25]tyrannized over the land reducing its people into factions and therefore if
[31:31]we were to reflect on this verse you would notice that when
[31:33]you look back into the history of the Israelites under the reign
[31:38]of far you would notice that far followed a certain strategy in
[31:41]his rulership so what he did is that the first strategy is
[31:46]that he separated the society into two different classes he separated the
[31:51]society into factions the first class was considered the upper class which
[31:55]were the cops who were believe believe it or not the original
[31:58]native people of the land and then he put them above the
[32:03]second class of society which were who the immigrants that consisted of
[32:06]the 12 tribes 12 tribes of Israel he would give privileges to
[32:10]the ruling class he would give privileges to the cops and then
[32:16]he would abase he would oppress the 12 uh tribes of Israel
[32:19]they would be living in extreme conditions of poverty and therefore you
[32:23]would notice that in every society a society that consists of two
[32:27]different class that are so far away from each other creating a
[32:31]gap between an upper class and a lower class is a society
[32:37]that will never flourish it is a society that will never advance
[32:39]and even if it did for a certain period of time that
[32:43]that Civilization or that Society in particular will indeed Clash it will
[32:47]deteriorate simply because Allah subhana wa tala is telling us that a
[32:53]just ruler is the one that is able to apply Justice amongst
[32:55]the society and Rule equally over the society and when we look
[33:00]into the life of Al wasallam we've mentioned this before and then
[33:03]we'll repeat it again is that the ruling class of qur were
[33:06]willing to embrace the message of wasallam yet under the condition of
[33:12]what is that they would stay in power they would not be
[33:14]equal to the rest is that the Privileges that they've always had
[33:17]in the Arabian society would stay the same and therefore many of
[33:22]them would complain saying what that Muhammad wants us to embrace a
[33:26]religion that makes us equal to the low class of society let
[33:29]alone our own slaves and that is something that they could not
[33:34]accept in reality that the pride and the arrogance that they had
[33:37]in their hearts was not able to accept that that they might
[33:41]be equal with the rest of society whereas Ali wasallam came to
[33:45]spread equity and equality in the Arabian society and therefore you will
[33:50]notice that one of the main accomplishments ofas s wasallam upon arriving
[33:54]to Medina after Hijra was what to create that sense of Brotherhood
[33:58]between the Muslim Society is that be the lower class the slave
[34:03]and the freed ones the new converts and whatnot many of them
[34:06]made he made them brothers to even to the Nobles of the
[34:10]society in Medina creating that sense of Brotherhood so going back to
[34:15]the first he says what so the first strategy was to separate
[34:17]the society into two different social classes the second strategy the Quran
[34:22]continues saying abasing one group of them which were what the Israelites
[34:32]the 12 tribes of Israel slaughtering their sons and sparing their women
[34:39]so then he took the strategy to a different level is that
[34:42]not only separating the society into two different classes because if you
[34:49]were to be able to oppress the society then you need to
[34:51]create gaps in that Society separate them as much as you can
[34:57]and therefore the second strategy he took it one step further is
[35:00]that no now he would actually Slaughter the newborn children of Israel
[35:03]and we all know why simply because he was informed of the
[35:08]Savior that shall be born from the 12 tribes of Israel and
[35:10]therefore what he did is that he applied that strategy in and
[35:16]then at the end Allah subh says what he was indeed one
[35:20]of the Agents of corruption the beautiful thing about Surah alasas is
[35:24]that Allah subhana wa tala begins in verse number four by saying
[35:30]indeed Pharaoh indeed terized over the land if we open Surah Al
[35:36]in verse number 83 Allah subhana wa T says what but at
[35:38]the end of the Surah after he narrates the story of M
[35:43]and he says in verse number three F this is the Abode
[35:55]of the Hereafter which we shall Grant to those who do not
[35:58]desire to domineer to tyrannize in this earth nor to cause corruption
[36:02]so there's a similarity between those two verses it is as if
[36:05]Allah subhana wa tala is telling me that just like far aimed
[36:10]to terize over this land a person that wants to wish for
[36:15]the he rafter is the he rafter is safe for who for
[36:16]the ones who do not wish to tyrannize over the land who
[36:20]do not wish to dominate over the land and I remember in
[36:22]the Q&A last night one of the questions is that what is
[36:25]the reason of our creation is that the reason is to always
[36:28]look at the Hereafter understand that the absolute eternal life will occur
[36:33]only in the Hereafter the point that I was trying to make
[36:36]that I want to make from this introduction is what it is
[36:38]as I said in the beginning it's as if Allah subhana tala
[36:41]is telling me what is that there is an example Allah sets
[36:47]an example of a ruler that had all that power yet rather
[36:50]than using that power to please Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala rather that
[36:54]rather than using that power to spread Justice on Earth because when
[36:58]you are given a power it is considered a form of blessing
[37:02]but it is the responsibility upon you whether to use it properly
[37:05]or to abuse it that power was abused by F and thereupon
[37:11]it ended with what with the destruction of f with the simplest
[37:13]means if you were to reflect upon it is that that huge
[37:16]Dynasty that Empire that is absolutely great that until this day historians
[37:22]have not been able to determine exactly as how were the Pyramids
[37:27]built no one has has an answer for this the whole empire
[37:30]that whole civilization Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala destroyed it with the simplest
[37:35]means which was what a wooden staff given by to on the
[37:41]other hand Allah also wants to set for me an example of
[37:47]a powerful leader that has been granted Power by Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala
[37:52]not necessarily an Imam not necessarily an infallible nor a prophet neither
[37:57]a me neither a messenger nor a Prophet yet Allah subhanahu wa
[38:01]ta'ala AIDS him and provides him with the means why because he
[38:04]was able to be a just ruler so the best thing that
[38:09]we need to reflect upon in this regard is that it is
[38:14]possible to rule and be a dominant leader yet ruling under the
[38:17]Justice or ruling with the justice of Allah subhana wa taala spreading
[38:21]the Divine Law of Allah subhana wa tala just like what was
[38:27]given to we mentioned in the previous nights that when the mus
[38:30]ofr came to wasallam and asked them about the accomplishments of the
[38:34]and not the identity of which tells me what which tells me
[38:40]is that they were familiar with the story of the because they
[38:42]were given that question to ask by who by the Jewish and
[38:46]the Christian Community in Nan yet they wanted to understand further the
[38:49]accomplishments of the Allah subh replies back by saying they ask you
[38:58]about say I will relate to you an account of him and
[39:04]we said that one of the main uh compliments given in the
[39:08]Quran by to is what is that it is Allah subhanahu wa
[39:11]tala himself that shall narrate his biography so not a prophet not
[39:19]a messenger and it is not even confirmed that he was granted
[39:23]even infallibility or Asma yet he was granted guidance from Allah subhah
[39:26]wa taala simply because of the attributes that he possessed in his
[39:30]NS so it is possible to be a leader it is possible
[39:35]to be a powerful leader in society and to even form an
[39:41]Empire but rule according to what pleases Allah subhana wa tala and
[39:45]if you were to reflect on the biography of the Prophet sallallahu
[39:47]alaihi alhi wasallam you would notice that the prophet sallallahu alaih alh
[39:50]wasallam upon the beginning of his message what did he do he
[39:55]sent messages to the Emperors and the Kings who lived around the
[39:59]Arabian peninsula in those messages he did not tell them that you
[40:02]need to let go of your power no but in reality he
[40:07]told them convert to the religion of Islam and Rule under the
[40:09]guidance of Allah subhana T and stay in your positions did you
[40:13]get that and therefore believe it or not remember when we spoke
[40:16]about if I'm not mistaken within the previous nights we spoke about
[40:19]the difference even within the Shia school of thought of is it
[40:25]possible to rule under uh to rule with politics and religion together
[40:28]together and some sh and and there is a split we did
[40:31]say that we have to admit that there is a split in
[40:32]theit school of thought even amongst the sh between different Scholars some
[40:37]say that no a government by Allah shall only be ruled by
[40:43]an infallible Imam where others say yes an an absolute perfect government
[40:45]can be Ru of course has to be ruled by an infallible
[40:48]Imam but it is worthy for us to try and establish a
[40:54]foundation for our awaited IM is the perfect example example of that
[40:58]IM in his book ethics and politics where he refutes the theory
[41:05]that says that it is impossible to be a political leader yet
[41:07]rule with ethics he actually refutes it genius book in fact if
[41:12]you want to have a have a look at it and he
[41:13]gives different proofs and different examples uses the example of in this
[41:18]regard and therefore we started with the story of couple of nights
[41:22]ago and what I would like to do tonight is to further
[41:24]dissect the story of and reflect the Journey of mainly the two
[41:30]the one to the west and the one to the east we've
[41:32]mentioned before that conquered the Earth and he went to three different
[41:37]places on Earth tonight inshallah what I would like to do is
[41:43]that to further dissect the story of the and try to understand
[41:46]and learn from the morals in this story and I would like
[41:50]to do so depending on the following points the first one is
[41:53]that let us examine the Journey of the to the west and
[41:57]how he dealt with the people that he found there the second
[42:00]one let us examine the Journey of to the East and see
[42:06]how he resolve the issues of the people that he found there
[42:09]and the third let's reflect on the morals that we can learn
[42:14]from the first two journeys of before we dissect the third and
[42:20]the most complicated journey of tomorrow night inshallah where he was met
[42:26]with Gog and Magog so before I proceed inshallah I would like
[42:29]you to provide me with a loud salawat the first point we
[42:41]said as that Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala provided the with all the means
[42:48]and therefore he directed A means and then he reaches to the
[42:51]west and we said last night that the fact that he reached
[42:55]to the West meaning that it is almost the Quran is trying
[42:57]to tell us that the beginning of his journey was from the
[43:00]East hence he directed his army to the West Allah says when
[43:12]he reached the place where the sun sets he found it setting
[43:17]over a warm sea and we gave an ethical point from that
[43:20]last night so that's the first destination that he reached meaning some
[43:24]suggest that it was the farthest point of the western side of
[43:29]the earth so then he said and by it he found a
[43:36]people so basically there was a nation that was living in that
[43:39]very far point and then we said you see some commentators of
[43:47]the Holy Quran they come and they suggest that the fact that
[43:50]the Quran says we said it is almost as if they said
[43:55]that that's why might have been a prophet or a messenger of
[43:58]Allah where other commentators come and say no the fact that you
[44:01]might receive an inspiration from Allah subhana wa tala does not necessarily
[44:04]mean that you're either a prophet or a messenger or even an
[44:07]apostle why because if we look at the Quran we notice that
[44:13]Allah subhah wa tala revealed to the mother of M Allah says
[44:18]and we revealed to the mother of M nurse him and then
[44:23]he continues by saying like three different Revelations only to the mother
[44:29]of mus.
[44:30]and she was obviously neither a prophet or a messenger of Allah
[44:33]subhana tala but it is possible to be guided by an inspiration
[44:37]from Allah subhana wa tala as we mentioned earlier when I think
[44:42]in the first night when we spoke about the attributes that possessed
[44:46]in himself as a we said you will either punish them or
[45:02]treat them with kindness and we said that it is Allah subhana
[45:05]t almost giving a an option for meaning we trust in your
[45:08]wisdom o to take the right decision when it comes to those
[45:14]people when we look into the narrations um that dissect these verses
[45:18]we basically come to a conclusion that was was met with people
[45:21]that were on polytheism that they were not mu they didn't understand
[45:27]they didn't know the Oneness of Allah subhana wa T they did
[45:30]not worship the only one God and therefore their society was a
[45:33]society that was also uh suffering from many issues and one of
[45:39]them was many injustices and thereupon that there was a group of
[45:42]people there was a uh a class of the of that society
[45:45]that was oppressed and there was a class that were considered the
[45:48]oppressors and therefore Allah subhana T said you know what that you
[45:52]have an option which tells me also what which also tells me
[45:56]that it is almost Allah subhana wa ta'ala um trying to convey
[46:01]a message to us that when he arrived to those people he
[46:04]offered themed is that he preached to them theed the Oneness of
[46:09]Allah subhana wa tala yet the society that Society will split into
[46:13]two groups one group will embrace the message of and the other
[46:20]group will insist on not embracing the message of they will reject
[46:23]the message of and thereupon Allah said that you know what the
[46:27]choice is yours whether you do punish or you treat them with
[46:33]kindness the second point that I would like to make here is
[46:35]the fact that Allah subhana wa T gave him a choice meaning
[46:39]what meaning that there's a group of people that are worthy of
[46:43]punishment right because they were the oppressors so there's a group of
[46:48]people in that society that were worthy of punishment but there's another
[46:50]group of people in that society that they're worthy of what of
[46:55]preaching to them with kindness and therefore he says and then here
[47:05]replied saying what meaning that he preached to that Society he was
[47:10]given the authority he has the power to be able to implement
[47:16]the teachings and we said that one of the means that was
[47:18]given was what was the military power the military force CU in
[47:21]some cases you do need that military force in order for you
[47:27]to implement Justice and that's why the law there's something called law
[47:31]enforcement isn't it is that the police has the authority to what
[47:34]to enforce the law meaning what meaning that there are certain bylaws
[47:37]that cannot be broken and have to be spread by force why
[47:42]because some people might are refer to as criminals they go outside
[47:45]the law they're Outlaws isn't it so therefore here Allah subh saying
[47:51]what repli by saying what he said as for him he is
[47:57]who is a wrongdoer we will punish him here refers to a
[48:08]to a person um who is on as what as and we
[48:12]said that in the beginning of the series that Quran explains Quran
[48:17]if we were to open surahman and I want you to reflect
[48:20]on this Surah lman verse number three 13 one of the advice
[48:27]that lman gives his son is what as you know that surahman
[48:29]is very famous with the advice given from a father to his
[48:34]son he tells him what when lman said to his son as
[48:48]he advised him oh my son do not ascribe any Partners to
[48:50]God why polytheism is indeed a great Injustice polytheism is indeed a
[48:55]great what wrong doing here says what we as for him who's
[49:06]a wrongdoer so therefore the commentaries of the Holy Quran derive the
[49:10]meaning of here the type of wrongdoing is what is sh associating
[49:13]to a partner with Allah subhana T why you see associating a
[49:16]partner with Allah subhana wa taala is a form ofum of Oppression
[49:21]that the mush himself the person who's a polytheist would commit against
[49:25]his own naps it is almost subh T is telling you that
[49:30]your NFS your soul is inclined towards the Oneness of Allah subhana
[49:33]wa tala but when you do not accept the Oneness of Allah
[49:35]subh when you ascribe a partner with Allah tala what you're doing
[49:39]is that you're doing a great Injustice to your naps first let
[49:43]alone to others if you were to spread shik and therefore he
[49:46]said what as for those as for him who is a wrongdoer
[49:50]we will punish him then he shall be return to his Lord
[49:58]and He will punish him with a dire punishment see here there's
[50:05]a beautiful point to to be made an ethical point to be
[50:07]made in this regard the said what is that the wrongdoer we
[50:12]shall punish him and then he shall be returned to his Lord
[50:17]so after he gets punished on this Earth he shall be returned
[50:19]to his Lord and He will be and he will uh and
[50:23]he will punish him with a dire punishment he refers to that
[50:25]type of punishment that the mus will get who does not accept
[50:29]and we we'll come to know in the following verses as the
[50:31]the time frame that the gave forba in fact the Quran refers
[50:36]to it in only one letter and that's the miraculous thing about
[50:40]the Quran it is so wonderful when it comes to um reflecting
[50:45]certain Expressions where the details lie in those very simple letters that
[50:51]Allah subh use uses um in the form of the eloquence of
[50:56]the Arabic language uh here he says what is that the wrongdoer
[50:58]we will punishment he should be punished for wrongdoing or for oppressing
[51:03]others or even for oppressing himself in this regard and he will
[51:06]punish and and when he returns to his Lord he will punish
[51:10]him with a dire punishment when he says comes from the word
[51:17]isn't it when we say see you notice that in the expression
[51:21]in Islam we have that every sin is cons referred to as
[51:28]what M what does the word mkar mean mkar meaning something strange
[51:32]something that you do not acknowledge something unfamiliar and that's why they
[51:36]say NRA it comes from the word the verb meaning what is
[51:42]that if a person will come to me right now let's say
[51:44]for example claiming that he's a relative of mine and I've never
[51:49]seen her before that act of me not being able to acknowledge
[51:51]this person is called NRA isn't it is that you know what
[51:56]I this person is strange to me I'm UNAM Amar to you
[51:57]who are you right on the other hand Allah subhana T refers
[52:01]to a sin in the perspective as what as meaning what meaning
[52:05]that when a person commits a sin it goes against his nature
[52:11]that Allah subhah wa tala created him with and it's as if
[52:14]Allah subhana T telling me what that when you bring a sin
[52:18]and you get your soul used to it the first time your
[52:20]soul rejects it it denies it it says I'm unfamiliar with this
[52:25]and therefore here when he says meaning that whatever punishment that shall
[52:31]be on the day ofy it is something that we are unfamiliar
[52:35]with it is in the hands of Allah subhana wa tala but
[52:37]in this Dunya is that that we shall punish him sure he
[52:41]did not assign he did not totally indicate that what what is
[52:44]the um type of punishment that he will punish them with but
[52:49]he just that he will punish them but in the day of
[52:52]it will be a different type of punishment that we're unfamiliar with
[52:55]who knows what would be the punishment of the same way we
[52:59]are unfamiliar with the type of rewards a person will get on
[53:03]the day of if they were to be righteous or virtuous and
[53:06]then he says what so the first group are the wrongdoers the
[53:12]second group and but as for him who has faith and acts
[53:23]righteously he shall have the best reward so here Allah is telling
[53:31]me that a just ruler does what he punishes a wrongdoer and
[53:35]what does he do he rewards the righteous and that is act
[53:41]actually ruling under the justice of Allah subhana wa tala this is
[53:45]a just system because the same way you need to reward The
[53:48]Virtuous you have to of course punish the wrongdoer in this regard
[53:54]they can never be equal and that's exactly what in his letter
[53:59]to Malik said what did he tell him he said a note
[54:02]Malik that a virtuous and the wrongdoer can never be equal under
[54:08]the justice of Allah subhanahu wa tala and that's something really interesting
[54:12]to reflect upon but as for him who has faith and acts
[54:19]righteously he shall have the best reward now we shall reward them
[54:28]and we will assign him easy tasks under our Command the first
[54:33]point that I want you to reflect upon is that the first
[54:35]time what does he say that's when it comes to who to
[54:46]the wrongdoer and then he says mean we shall reward him with
[54:54]the best reward and we will assign him easy task under our
[54:59]Command the beautiful thing in the Arabic language is that there's a
[55:03]difference between s and the letter sa so for example one one
[55:11]if a person comes to you and asks you for a favor
[55:17]it is different from saying meaning we will do this tomorrow and
[55:25]between saying what like right away we shall do it so when
[55:31]it comes the letter right before the word in Arabic language it
[55:36]means that the reward shall come right away on the spot whether
[55:39]was it uh sorry either the reward or the punishment sa meaning
[55:42]that it shall be later if we open to the the Quran
[55:47]in Surah yusu verses 92 and 95 let's reflect on verse 92
[55:52]when the brothers of Yousef came to him and finally recognized him
[55:57]yes Allah subhana speaks in the Quran saying what yes he said
[56:06]there shall be no reproach on you today speaking to his brothers
[56:10]when they finally organized him even though that they had oppressed yam
[56:14]after all the injustices that they've done toam said said I forgive
[56:20]you basically God will forgive you that I forgive you I just
[56:26]he forgave them on the right away and he is the most
[56:33]merciful of the merciful but then when they went to their father
[56:37]focus on the quranic expression here it says what they said father
[56:46]plead with God for forgiveness of our sins meaning they finally admitted
[56:51]their sin after all those years they finally admitted their sin to
[56:54]their father but then what did they ask him him he said
[56:58]you ask for forgiveness for us plead with God for forgiveness of
[57:03]our sins Subhan Allah you know and that's that's one of the
[57:05]proofs of taul right is that many come many people come and
[57:07]say like what is the proof of taul why don't you go
[57:10]directly to Allah why don't the brothers of Yousef go directly to
[57:12]Allah subhana tala no they actually went to their father and they
[57:16]asked him so meaning that we want to ask for forgiveness but
[57:19]by your sake so plead to God for uh plead to God
[57:23]for our for for forgiveness of our sins we have indeed been
[57:28]earring we did a lot of Injustice on our brother what did
[57:31]he say said he said I shall plead with my Lord to
[57:38]forgive you he didn't say meaning what it is as if the
[57:48]Quran wants to show me the type of pain that went through
[57:51]is that their their plot was to separate you from their father
[57:59]Y and he was the dearest son to his heart so did
[58:01]not say what Yousef said right away Allah will forgive you no
[58:11]he said said eventually I will but give me time I will
[58:14]need time to heal over that pain that you've caused me all
[58:19]those years to show you the attachment of a father towards his
[58:23]beloved children yes so didn't he didn't write away said yes no
[58:28]no he said isn't it and this by the way on a
[58:31]side note teaches us a very important lesson it is good to
[58:36]take your time to heal sometimes is that during our lives we
[58:39]go through many pains we th go through difficulties and hardships sometimes
[58:45]Society has an expectation from us to just get over things on
[58:50]the spot right away is that if a person does wrong to
[58:54]you if a person does an injustice to you and they come
[58:56]and ask you for forgiveness is that many people sometimes Subhan Allah
[59:00]especially in these months of Ramadan they cause you a lot of
[59:03]pain look at our society unfortunately we slander people's reputation we assassinate
[59:10]them assassinate them socially yet come to the oh please ask for
[59:14]my please forgive me you know they come and ask for forgiveness
[59:17]forgiveness from what is that the Quran teaches us to first of
[59:21]all correct our mistakes if there's something that you need to correct
[59:24]then you should correct it's not a miracle that on the spot
[59:29]that a person who's been caused so much pain you just come
[59:30]to them on the spot and you ask them for forgiveness and
[59:33]you and you what you request from them to forgive you on
[59:35]the spot no the best thing is that when they're wrongdoing himself
[59:37]preaches to you Islam it's almost as if they transform into an
[59:42]all of a sudden is that no Islam asks you to forgive
[59:46]yes Islam asks me to forgive but after I attain my right
[59:48]and I did focus on this point if there is a right
[59:52]that was taken no first give me back that right that you
[59:55]took away from me and then inshallah I shall forgive he didn't
[60:03]tell them right away I forgive you unlike yfam why you see
[60:06]again another point to make in this regard that the relationship of
[60:10]Brotherhood is stronger than the parental relationship believe it or not the
[60:18]relationship of Brotherhood is softer stronger and that's why a brother towards
[60:23]his other brother would have a stronger connection ction than a son
[60:27]would have towards his parents and therefore you would notice what that
[60:32]said you caused me a lot of pain as the Quran is
[60:36]as if he's reflecting the pain of only in one word see
[60:39]how miraculous this book is how worthy it is to study the
[60:45]Quran how worthy it is to dissect the verses of the Quran
[60:47]reflect on the verses of the Quran such a miraculous book in
[60:54]one word reflected the years of pain that am and the patience
[60:57]he had to endure over separating from his beloved Son and that's
[61:02]why he didn't forgive them right away in the story of what
[61:06]does he say he says as for the wrong he used the
[61:15]term SAA meaning what meaning we give him a chance to repent
[61:18]and correct his mistakes meaning eventually we shall punish them do you
[61:24]understand that and that's to show you the of a just leader
[61:29]meaning that the wrongdoer sure he will be punished but if he
[61:32]if that's why when he used the term s meaning I'm giving
[61:36]him a time to repent and Allah subhana T indeed always gives
[61:39]us time to repent in this regard but it is from the
[61:43]of Allah subhana tal that if you perform a good deed he
[61:46]rewards you for it on the spot yet when you perform a
[61:51]sin or you commit a sin Allah subhana T gives you time
[61:55]to repent and that's from the of Allah subhana and then that's
[62:00]why he said then he shall be returned to his Lord if
[62:04]he does not repent then he shall return to his Lord meaning
[62:06]what meaning there's something called the Hereafter and it is worthy upon
[62:12]us as Muslims to reflect on that is the understanding that our
[62:15]actions are related to also the Hereafter and this is what distinguishes
[62:19]a person who's a Believer from an unbeliever is that you believe
[62:23]that at the end of the day there's what there's a Hereafter
[62:25]you will be judged you will be questioned one day you shall
[62:29]go six feet under and you will be questioned in your let
[62:31]alone in the day of in this regard and then he says
[62:36]then he shall be returned to his Lord and He will punish
[62:42]him with a dire punishment and then he says but as for
[62:47]him who has faith and acts righteously the first thing is that
[62:54]he shall be given is what he he shall have the best
[62:56]reward wward so that's the first thing is that on the spot
[63:01]he shall reward it and then here the verse continues saying and
[63:08]we will assign him easy tasks under our Command I would like
[63:15]to dissect this verse a bit you see arrived to a people
[63:20]to a nation and as the Quran reflects to us it is
[63:24]almost that that nation was or that Society in particular was separated
[63:27]into two groups the M the Believers and the non-believers punish the
[63:35]non-believers give them a chance to repent if not punish them and
[63:39]then the Believers reward them but then at after the reward he
[63:44]says what and we will assign him easy tasks under our Command
[63:49]why does the Quran insist on saying easy tasks why didn't the
[63:52]Quran just say and we will assign him tasks to show us
[63:58]what remember when we opened the story of we started with the
[64:01]concept of Da and the methods of Da isn't it and we
[64:06]said that we shall reflect on the life of the and the
[64:08]journeys of the and examine the types of the the different types
[64:13]of dawa the methods of dawa he used with every different Nation
[64:16]so even within the nation itself he used different methods of dawa
[64:20]to tell me what is that when he said asked for that
[64:25]the person who Embraces the Dean yes we will reward him for
[64:28]just embracing the dean but then the tasks that we shall assign
[64:33]them for them shall be easy tasks totally reflecting to us as
[64:37]reciters of the Holy Quran that a new convert to a religion
[64:41]or a person because a convert is not necessarily unfortunately we think
[64:45]always the convert is a person that comes from one religion to
[64:47]another or even a convert that comes from a western world to
[64:52]the religion of Islam but even you as a Muslim sometimes are
[64:54]in a constant state of conversion is that the more you learn
[64:57]how many of us let's say for example were born and raised
[65:02]in families that did not learn religion and then we immigrated to
[65:05]other societies and we learned religion we became more religious how many
[65:09]of you in fact when you travel back home your relatives are
[65:11]even shocked at the fact that what you are religious many of
[65:16]your own relatives sometimes it's really funny but people that might live
[65:20]in the Muslim Society in in Islamic countries might come and they
[65:22]they get shocked when they meet their relatives when they come let's
[65:26]say for example from the west or anywhere else in the world
[65:28]and they say well it's really astonishing is the fact the fact
[65:30]you guys live in the US you guys live in Canada or
[65:33]in the UK or so forth but then you uphold religion to
[65:37]that level right so the fact that many of us are converting
[65:40]even though we might be born into the religion of Islam so
[65:44]the Quran is telling me that that person that converts to the
[65:47]dean that new Muslim that just comes or a person that comes
[65:50]and Embraces aen make sure that the methods of dawa you used
[65:55]to them are easy methods of da isn't it I remember one
[65:58]time one of the interesting incident that occurred during I think my
[66:02]second year in haza is that there was a group of converts
[66:04]that came to the and they wanted and it was during the
[66:10]nights of power these people had only converted to the religion of
[66:14]Islam about a month before that so they're newcomers to religion and
[66:18]I remember that one of our teachers gave us a piece of
[66:22]an advice he said Do not sit them down and go through
[66:24]the whole with them because they might Rebel they say on the
[66:30]spot we're not used to this and therefore you need to be
[66:35]smart enough and wise enough to apply a very logical method of
[66:37]dawa to them you can't just come and just overburden them with
[66:40]everything and the Quran is telling me this clearly he's saying that
[66:46]this person that embraced the dean my da is a newcomer to
[66:48]that da therefore I cannot just come and give them heavy tasks
[66:53]and that's why the Quran says what and that we shall give
[66:58]them easy tasks that's the first point the second point I would
[67:01]like to make in this verse is that when a newcomer comes
[67:06]to the religion of Islam make sure that you involve them in
[67:10]activity because at the end of the day you notice that a
[67:14]convert to the religion on the spot they have a lot of
[67:16]fire in them they're so excited they're motivated they have a lot
[67:21]of encouragement they feel like they've been missing out for years and
[67:25]therefore they want to take Take A Part in activity so therefore
[67:28]what do you do is that involve them in activity make sure
[67:32]that they take a part in the community in this regard why
[67:36]so they can feel that they're useful they can feel that they're
[67:39]uh Translating that Dean that Iman into into activity right and that's
[67:44]exactly what did third point is the fact that since is a
[67:51]leader and not a boss is that he's teaching the nation that
[67:58]had just embraced a religion to do what to take a part
[68:02]in society and into spreading the da more and that's very important
[68:06]to do by the way because many of us sometimes might think
[68:11]that oh since they're newcomers to the religion or since people those
[68:15]people just converted their IM is just sufficient but when we reflect
[68:18]on the life of the Prophet sallallahu alai wasam what did he
[68:20]do the prophets one of the first accomplishments of the Prophet upon
[68:24]arriving to Medina is what is building a Masjid isn't it mjba
[68:29]MBA was the first Masjid in the in Islam alh wasallam what
[68:35]did he do did he hire people to build the Masjid no
[68:39]what he did is that he let the Muslim converts themselves and
[68:44]the ones who and the inhabitants of Medina to take a part
[68:48]in building the Masjid and even he himself took a part in
[68:53]the process of construction and that's why one of the famous famous
[68:56]Hadith says what is that y while everybody was carrying one brick
[69:00]to the Masjid Amar was carrying two bricks andhi wasallam said his
[69:07]famous Hadith saying what he said every person shall get one reward
[69:10]in the day of for building the Masjid except forar he shall
[69:14]get two rewards Amar at that point chanted a couplet of poetry
[69:19]he said those who Take A Part in building a Masjid are
[69:24]not equal to those who stand on the side and avoid avoid
[69:26]the dust a couple of the Poetry referring to who to some
[69:30]companions who were the Watchers you know in every activity you have
[69:35]the Watchers people that just love to watch and criticize mashallah right
[69:39]so we have people that are experts in critics and in and
[69:43]sorry in sorry in criticizing they're critics by nature is that when
[69:46]you come and tell them why don't you take a part in
[69:50]the process why don't you help out in the Masjid why don't
[69:54]you help out the community they say no I don't have time
[69:55]I'm very busy but Subhan Allah when it comes to criticizing they
[69:58]always have time they have the best of time they walk in
[70:02]they sit down and the first thing that they start thinking about
[70:04]is that how can I criticize what's going on right well then
[70:08]why don't you come and take a part since you have so
[70:10]much great ideas no they love to watch subh they love to
[70:14]watch at the end of the day they take the credit these
[70:17]are the ones you see them in the picture by the way
[70:18]they're the ones that stand in the front they always want to
[70:22]be in the picture right but they never want to get dirty
[70:24]they do do not want to work something with his hands and
[70:28]that's why I give an advice to every community and especially now
[70:31]that inshallah you will be building a new center inshallah and I'm
[70:34]really excited about this idea and hopefully it is and I said
[70:38]before that what distinguishes this community is diversity and that's absolutely important
[70:42]in the flourishing of every Community communities Thrive with diversity different races
[70:50]and different backgrounds and nationalities coming together under the banner of Islam
[70:54]as we expressed in the story of the companes of the cave
[70:57]isn't it and therefore I say given an advice that no you
[71:00]take a part in everything that shall happen in that new community
[71:02]center involve everyone uh in it and you find that Amarin Yas
[71:10]was referring to some Companions and believe it or not that companion
[71:13]I won't mention the name you know but obviously they all became
[71:16]after nevertheless you can go find yourself is that he even threatened
[71:21]Amar you know he came up to Amar and he raised a
[71:23]stick and he said I shall hit you with the Stick of
[71:28]on your nose and then wasallam heard and he teared and he
[71:32]said leave Amar alone Amar is the skin between my eye and
[71:38]my nose fing the status of Omar and then he said in
[71:40]particular that Hadith he shall be killed by the group of transgressors
[71:50]he shall be calling them to Heaven while they shall be calling
[71:57]him to Hell Fire so you would notice that therefore what did
[72:00]he say but ask for him who have faith and asks righteously
[72:02]we shall he shall have the best reward and we will assign
[72:07]him assign him easy tasks under our Command and also the last
[72:11]part is what under our Command why you see people in the
[72:17]beginning when they Embrace a new movement it is important that they
[72:21]have the right leader so they still need a form of command
[72:24]and we spoke about this and the notion of leadership in the
[72:28]previous nights and how important it is in the religion of Islam
[72:31]IM in a says that even if you were two people traveling
[72:38]for pleasure assign a leader amongst you there has to be a
[72:42]leader in every community in this regard and then Allah subhana T
[72:49]says what then he directed another means when he directed another means
[72:54]we explained before that made sure to use the means that were
[72:58]given to him from Allah subhanahu waala and then he tells me
[73:11]when he reached the place where the sun rises right so first
[73:18]he went to a place where the sun sets isn't it if
[73:22]you focus on what we said the first destination of the he
[73:25]reached he reached to the farthest place where the sun sets now
[73:28]it is almost the Quran is telling you that he went to
[73:32]the exact opposite direction on earth when he said what when he
[73:36]reached the place where the sun rises so he traveled East he
[73:41]found it Rising on a people from who for whom we had
[73:52]not provided any Shield against it so it was and so it
[73:57]was and we were fully aware of whatever means he had and
[74:01]I will end with this point meaning what see now reached to
[74:04]the east he found a nation the first issue that that nation
[74:08]was suffering from is that not being connected to to a Divine
[74:13]teaching and a Divine belief from Allah subhana wa tala solved that
[74:16]issue he spread the dawa the second issue is what when Allah
[74:23]is telling me that he found he found a rising on a
[74:25]people he found the sun sunrising on a people from whom we
[74:29]had not provided any Shield against s it's almost as if the
[74:31]Quran is telling me that the main issue that they suffered from
[74:33]is poverty many narrations suggest different things some say they were not
[74:38]aware of the process of constructing homes constructing homes they did not
[74:43]know how to even build homes to protect themselves from the Sun
[74:49]heat sunlight some say no they did yet in their libas the
[74:51]way they would dress is not in a way that would protect
[74:56]their skin from the sunlight there's an ethical point to make make
[75:00]in this regard the commentators of the Holy Quran they come and
[75:03]say that the main issue that they were suffering from is poverty
[75:07]be it in the way they would dress they lacked the understanding
[75:10]in how to cover themselves and this tells me what this tells
[75:15]me that the more a society advances the more it covers and
[75:20]the less the society is Advanced and civilized the less it would
[75:25]cover isn't it and that's why he said what is a cover
[75:35]you know Subhan Allah one of the um terms used about hijab
[75:42]is what isar meaning what sitar can also refer to a curtain
[75:46]so if someone is standing behind a curtain you can see that
[75:50]there is a body figure but are you able to recognize the
[75:55]de details of that body no and that's what hijab is about
[75:59]so hijab is to cover in a way not only to cover
[76:03]the skin but to cover in a way that even the body
[76:07]formation is not to be recognized do you understand that and that's
[76:10]why hijab in this regard is referred to as what AAR and
[76:16]it is considered a form of a civilized society that the more
[76:19]they cover unfortunately we live nowadays that the Le the less you
[76:22]cover the more civilized and advanced and cool you are isn't it
[76:28]yes and the more you cover the more you looked upon it's
[76:30]as if that you are ignorant you are a oppressed I mean
