[1:14]super excited to welcome you to the very first episode of your

[1:16]show they ask you brought to you by blessed tree media so

[1:24]mean literally it means they ask you and that is a phrase

[1:28]uh that appears in the holy quran about 15 times in reference

[1:31]to when the people would ask the prophet all sorts of questions

[1:36]yes they ask you about gambling about orphans about moon sighting and

[1:42]so on and so forth so in this series yes we will

[1:45]seek to ask those religious questions those burning questions that are out

[1:49]and about so that we can engage in this kind of conversation

[1:53]with you the viewers in each episode we'll be talking about something

[1:57]special and for each episode we encourage you the viewers to tune

[2:02]in and join the conversation remember we have all sorts of social

[2:19]is titled wasilla tanja the means of salvation and we explore the

[2:23]question what is the significance of the wastel and specifically through imam

[2:29]hussain alaihissalam and also how have the members of our community been

[2:34]impacted through his vasila in their lifetimes so if you have stories

[2:37]that you'd like to share you know what to do just jump

[2:50]on this topic i am excited to be joined from pakistan by

[2:53]ali ma razia batul najafi who of course needs no introduction i

[2:58]think everyone around the world knows her but for you know formality's

[3:03]sake um raziante is a renowned international scholar she's an academic she

[3:09]has an academic background um having studied at the islamic seminary in

[3:15]kung for 25 years mashallah she's also an author motivational speaker islamic

[3:20]lecturer and counselor and i'm sure there's so many more things i

[3:24]could list out uh so really just a woman of many many

[3:28]talents indeed uh zachary thank you so much for joining us on

[3:31]the show today [Music] viewers around the world thank you so much

[3:50]thank you so so so much for having me is that coming

[3:53]i love how your smile has lightened up the presents already thank

[3:57]you so so much zakir when i found out that you were

[4:00]going to be on this show i'm not sure if you remember

[4:03]but a few years ago um for the world federation's uh madinah

[4:06]and babu ilm camp in iran in kum um i was one

[4:10]of the students there and you're one of my teachers so when

[4:12]i found out oh patol is on the show i got so

[4:16]excited i thought oh i get to see you again um so

[4:17]it's super super lovely to have you here um so before we

[4:23]jump into the tawasl business my first question would be just in

[4:27]a few words please could you tell us a little bit about

[4:31]you know these buzzwords that we hear and probably will hear through

[4:34]this episode tawasol and wasilla and these fancy sounding words just in

[4:38]a few words what do they mean what do we buy yes

[4:48]yeah for us definitely because we truly believe on our soul so

[4:56]we feel uh as a blessing as a beautiful gift from allah

[5:00]because that was so in our life very easy because something to

[5:09]to understand about allah is allah our allah's beautiful attributes is beyond

[5:14]our you know capability like we can not just jump towards a

[5:23]lot of directly but we as a human being we love to

[5:25]imagine mom see i love the way we say you know you

[5:35]say yeah on our president hina um beautiful you know humanly attributes

[5:58]which is strongly reflecting the allah's attributes allah and jalal so that

[6:08]is the beauty of the muslim that is the beauty of this

[6:13]amazing medium and reflection of lust the beauty and attributes alhamdulillah thank

[6:21]you so much for the viewers out there um if we have

[6:26]any technical difficulties please do bear with us uh inshallah we you

[6:37]such a beautiful and sweet way of putting it um and now

[6:40]i will sort of segue into a question that is quite commonly

[6:45]being asked these days so we know that the wassel appears in

[6:48]various forms uh one is when people actually go to uh the

[6:52]shrine of the infallibles for example to to the harm of imam

[6:56]hussain and his salam and in the shrine we pray to allah

[7:03]to fulfill our dua to fulfill our needs so how would you

[7:06]explain this type of tawasal and is there any evidence in islam

[7:09]to support that this is okay for us to do yeah alhamdulillah

[7:16]especially in quran you know quran has so many ayaat very very

[7:21]obvious ayaat by which we can understand that whatever we believe that

[7:27]we can go to the holy shrines of masumina and we are

[7:34]asking allah is the giver allah is the one who is independently

[7:41]you know listening to us but we are asking through them for

[7:47]example chapter nissan number 64.

[7:52]it says about this eye it's so beautiful there are a few

[7:58]shannon zoo the reason of revelation and and some some information some

[8:05]history a person he came from outside of medina and he didn't

[8:16]know that rasulullah is not anymore in the city yeah so he

[8:20]came with this expectation that i'm going to ask rasulullah to seek

[8:24]forgiveness on behalf of me because i'm i'm full of sin that

[8:32]the pureness that the heart you know cleanly less in front of

[8:39]allah so i will go to rasulullah because i so what quran

[8:42]says quran says that yeah like if i have done any guna

[8:50]if i come if i seek forgiveness and i come to rasulullah

[8:52]and rasulullah like allah is the one who's accepting my repentance and

[9:13]he's definitely merciful if if i'm asking forgiveness and my rasulallah my

[9:18]my you know prophet of the time so when he came he

[9:23]saw that rasulullah is not anymore there you know what he did

[9:28]yeah and grave of rasulallah and he put all that mud on

[9:33]his head and he was crying and his his just reciting this

[9:36]specific ayah uh zakarabai i'm i'm really sorry to interrupt you there

[9:47]i think we're having some technical issues and you keep timing out

[9:50]so if i could kindly request you to turn your video off

[9:54]inshallah that will help us to be able to hear you clearer

[9:57]yeah sorry sorry yeah so it says that uh the companion of

[10:07]rasulallah after his demise they would come to the grave of prophet

[10:12]to seek forgiveness yeah that they are asking is the fire during

[10:31]the time of after the demise of rasulullah like to the grave

[10:42]of rasulallah used to do tawa so once uh in the time

[10:49]of uh uh like they were asking for rain yeah they were

[10:53]praying and bilal he went to the graveyard of rasulallah and he

[11:03]asked for greed and what he drank because it come in very

[11:12]authentic uh books uh of sunnah too like so what happened he

[11:16]saw in in a dream that rasulullah sallam has given this uh

[11:21]good tiding that insha allah you are having a good reign and

[11:28]allah is fulfilling yeah his promises and your your dua accepted by

[11:33]allah so these are the thoughts so like i can pray anywhere

[11:36]yeah anytime but still some pieces some sometimes like how how we

[11:45]we give so much importance to to today or friday to to

[11:48]ramadan mubarak yeah we go to the mosque masjid so it doesn't

[11:55]mean don't worry about any other thing no even time and space

[12:05]is also somehow vasila you know and then if you go to

[12:08]the haram and if you see vasila of that particular assume infallible

[12:14]then that would be the more stronger vasila which allah is asking

[12:20]us to to bring in my barka yes so would you say

[12:26]that there is a as you said that there is extra importance

[12:30]put on being in in in the haram being in the shrine

[12:32]would you say that there is okay this might sound silly but

[12:36]is it more likely to be accepted if you're in the harem

[12:40]whereas if i did it from home why not yeah the same

[12:45]way if pray inside the mosque you know your prayer yeah that

[12:50]the power the we can see closeness to allah is definitely increasing

[12:55]yeah so you get more salah means you are getting more closer

[12:59]so the same way if you are seeking tawa's soul yeah and

[13:06]you are just having that beautiful presence of that muslim and infallible

[13:12]you are yeah you know you are getting your yours more quickly

[13:16]and allah is putting his attention more and more towards you because

[13:22]of that because of that haram because of that wasilla right okay

[13:28]so we so so we've just talked about how the wasilla of

[13:31]the the the infallibles or must mean can help arduous reached a

[13:37]higher state to allah where perhaps it would not get there if

[13:39]it was just directly from us but then sometimes a person as

[13:44]in the person who is making the dua damota um that person

[13:47]may turn toward the infallible um and ask for example imam hussain

[13:51]to pray to allah to grant them their hajjat so is there

[13:56]any reference to us doing that specifically like telling the imam to

[14:01]pray to allah for us is there anything in our texts we

[14:08]are asking a mom yeah we are asking imam to pray for

[14:15]us we are making him uh wasilla that is definitely that is

[14:19]recommended because we are asking allah and imam are just you know

[14:28]like he has chosen wasilla for our guidance he didn't talk to

[14:39]us directly whatever message we have right now the revelation the beautiful

[14:45]you know wisdom of allah we have received by wasilla wasila the

[14:54]kind of wasilla is amazing therefore i love salawat you know i

[15:01]always say the cleverest person you know always choose why because salamat

[15:09]is that beautiful umbrella a beautiful medium by which allah has sending

[15:18]his blessing and we are just stick with that was it [Music]

[15:33]absolutely right to ask allah through the uh thank you i think

[15:43]that's definitely a very apt to remind us so for all the

[15:45]viewers if you're tuning in you're listening i think this is the

[15:50]perfect reminder for us to all join in just take a moment

[16:10]two of the most renowned young reciters of our community salam alaikum

[16:14]it's lovely lovely to have you on the show thank you very

[16:17]much for gracing us with your presence thank you thank you very

[16:27]much so uh if i may begin with uh auntie arthi please

[16:31]could you enlighten us i understand that there is a very special

[16:34]story um of the whistle that you have through imam hussain uh

[16:37]please could you tell us more about this special story in your

[16:41]life for giving us this opportunity to come in front of the

[16:48]whole world and flip [Music] first thank you so much for being

[17:12]here and sharing your story yeah so i would say i that

[17:33]uh so i i'm so sorry arthianti i i feel horrible saying

[17:40]this but you were really getting cut out there if i could

[17:43]kindly ask you to repeat the last few sentences yeah i was

[17:46]just saying that as i've gone through so many with those of

[17:51]my farm and food for the first i've got my two boys

[17:54]because you can say they are the one who actually they are

[18:00]my wow that's that's really really inspiring mashallah to have come from

[18:07]you know having such a long personal journey going from um hinduism

[18:11]and then finding your way around and then going through mount hussain

[18:15]and then imam saying granting you your two boys your gifts your

[18:18]gems which the the whole world has come to appreciate masha'allah um

[18:22]and actually since we're talking about these brothers right in front of

[18:28]us shaun shannon rizwan um could you the two of you um

[18:31]in a few words perhaps tell us and the viewers what is

[18:34]the environment like over there you're joining us from karbala and unfortunately

[18:37]we can't be there and we pray that inshallah allah grants all

[18:42]of us the opportunity to go for ziara but since you're there

[18:44]why don't you tell us that we can live through you yeah

[18:48]so um firstly obviously extremely thankful yeah voice to give a little

[18:59]bit louder and come again please thank you grateful to imam hussain

[19:04]tv to have given this opportunity to come to karuma holy land

[19:30]so what what is it like when you walk outside and i

[19:34]said if i said to you can you tell me in three

[19:37]words what does it feel like being in such close proximity to

[19:42]imam hussain and hazrat the boss in three words go overwhelming aha

[19:50]inspiring uh-huh i'm gonna say jealous i'm gonna say i'm very well

[20:04]not jealous i'm very envious that mashallah you have been uh given

[20:06]this opportunity and like i said inshallah i hope inshallah that we

[20:09]all get to be there as well so thank you so much

[25:22]until now we have sort of been talking about the first form

[25:24]of tawasul as it it being a dua that we ask allah

[25:29]to fulfill the hajjat of a person by the wasilla of the

[25:30]master mean the infallibles and then we said the second form is

[25:36]when we ask the massoum themselves to pray to allah for us

[25:39]now that brings me to a third possible scenario where and this

[25:44]is something our ulama mentioned themselves and and that is and then

[25:49]we know that there are many duas on on this but without

[25:53]going into these duas individually um and just talking about the principle

[25:57]itself my question is is it permissible to ask the infallibles themselves

[26:02]to fulfill a hajjad or the need of of ours can we

[26:07]pray to them and can we tell them please can you fulfill

[26:09]my da i believe we may have lost connection over there oh

[26:19]no we haven't the power of salawat has brought us back i

[26:27]assume perhaps i may have been cut out so you may not

[26:30]have heard my question um but we talked about the two different

[26:32]types of tawasal um and then the the third one perhaps being

[26:39]a scenario where we actually um have the duas de esta ratha

[26:42]that you know the manitoba's discussed this but without going into the

[26:46]duas themselves and just talking about the principle my question is that

[26:51]is it permissible to ask the infallible themselves to fulfill our fajard

[27:19]yeah without allah's permission without allah you know like and this is

[27:31]for example prophet jesus or any other muslim no way so we

[27:37]are not allowed to uh to any any any power zakira i'm

[27:47]so so sorry to interrupt again i'm i i really don't want

[27:52]us to miss the gems of wisdom you're dropping thank you very

[27:56]much yeah if you could kindly vote yeah yes only one power

[28:03]has an impact in this world and that is a lot about

[28:11]a kawata allah so independently we cannot ask any muslim even jesus

[28:15]any prophet any infallible but a lot about it allah so if

[28:22]we are asking from assuming we are asking definitely from allah you

[28:27]know by them but directly just independently from anyone infallible it's impossible

[28:34]you know it's it's not allowed in islam even even if we

[28:38]get any shafa cure from medicine from doctor you know that that

[28:48]shafa is comes from a lot about kawata allah and when we

[28:52]say believers of makkah so uh we we always see the they

[29:02]they that was their atheida that they were yeah angels are independently

[29:08]they give themselves they have the or they would they would ask

[29:15]angels so we said no this is shirk you know this is

[29:17]this is not allowed so yeah we are not allowed therefore about

[29:24]prophet jesus quran always talks about if he's having any miracle that

[29:39]is with the permission and are just they are the percy [Music]

[30:05]so you have to go to this arc of savior why because

[30:12]they are the wasilla not directly or independently we cannot ask them

[30:19]that so okay so that actually brings me perfectly on to my

[30:25]next question where you mentioned the arc of salvation we know that

[30:28]the prophet muhammad sallallahu alaihi wala sallam would refer to imam hussain

[30:33]um as miss baal huda the light of guidance and suffering at

[30:36]the arc of salvation when you mention that what exactly is the

[30:40]position sorry what position does the wassel through imam hussain alaihi islam

[30:45]have like literally we have this hadees that one day rasulullah sallallahu

[30:56]alaihi wasallam he was sitting and imam hussain he came and what

[30:59]our prophet he said he said abdullah you are the adornment of

[31:12]heavens and the earth so the companion they were sitting there they

[31:17]were so astonished and they said how come how come you know

[31:23]someone can be zeenath and sama someone can be you know adornment

[31:27]for for heavens and the arts but you so profit more famous

[31:45]more well-known i hate to interrupt you again uh would you mind

[31:51]repeating for us what the prophet replied [Music] because it has written

[32:22]in the right side of the throne of allah that hussein is

[32:40]is desiring for us yes so so that is interesting because then

[32:45]if we're talking about imam hussain having that level of tawastle for

[32:52]us what about khakis shifa because that is something that we you

[32:55]know um we use very frequently you know when we reciting salah

[33:00]um what what position does that have in in terms of the

[33:03]vassal yeah we have many evidence in quran for example um the

[33:12]we can say the shirt of prophet yusuf yeah yeah that is

[33:18]something related to a prophet so uh yeah yeah akub is getting

[33:27]shafa by one one medium one thing yeah one thing which we

[33:30]can see and that is just a piece of cloth but still

[33:35]because of that connection to profit you suffer allah has given shifa

[33:44]to that the same way we can get shafa allah has gifted

[33:50]this beautiful blessing this special we can say exclusively for imam hussain

[33:56]because of his you know matchless sacrifices allah has given this gift

[34:03]to him that only his heart is full of shafa not other

[34:09]hugs only the heart of karbala can change our life because that

[34:18]is our vatan that is our hometown that is our you know

[34:21]root and that can you know take us towards allah so again

[34:29]because imam is connecting us to allah allah allah that is the

[34:36]point and therefore you can get all kinds of shafa of rule

[34:41]shafa of soul shape of your iman and your body everything mind

[34:47]from this beautiful hug yeah i i love the comparison between the

[34:52]shifa and the shirt of prophet yusuf and i think that's that's

[34:58]a lovely way of looking at it but speaking of uh special

[35:00]gifts from imam hussain um i'm going to turn back to sister

[35:06]arthi who has been gifted the two boys by imam hussain alaihissalam

[35:12]um so anthothy could you please tell me after allah blessed you

[35:16]with sean and rizwan through the wasilla of him i'm saying what

[35:19]special training did you have for them because i'm sure we all

[35:24]have so much to learn from you special training but my iman

[35:31]was very strong i've just told them to stay on the right

[35:35]path that is the only thing i've told them but i would

[35:42]say this is what my imam has told them mashallah i feel

[35:52]like that having that staunch iman is is the foundation of everything

[35:55]that we do and inshallah i pray that we continue all having

[36:01]this kind of staunch strong iman insha allah um is there any

[36:04]personal advice that you would be able to give someone any of

[36:08]our viewers who are watching you today um anyone who has a

[36:11]special need in life what what type of connection should we aim

[36:13]to have with imam hussain alaihi salaam would you say in your

[36:19]opinion according to me be strong in your belief that is the

[36:22]biggest thing please do not go away from will forgive every single

[36:38]thing that you have done sorry if i may ask you to

[36:46]repeat that sentence again it may have just gotten cut out my

[36:52]apologies you should have a very strong belief in yourself and with

[36:57]my heart that imam is the one who will forgive all your

[37:00]sins if your belief is strong you get everything in this world

[37:08]he will take very close to us inshallah thank you so much

[37:15]i feel it's very important that we have for those who have

[37:19]been touched by imam hussain and and through the wassel of imam

[37:21]hussain in their lives and had that impact i feel like it's

[37:26]very important to share those stories um because i think everyone deep

[37:28]down we're all struggling with something or the other we all have

[37:31]a dua deep down in our heart um and inshallah exactly what

[37:36]she said if we we hold on to that belief i i

[37:37]really believe that that belief can get us through so much and

[37:42]so many miraculous stories i've heard from people who have said exactly

[37:47]the same thing as yourself um and i'm sure if i were

[37:49]to ask the viewers they would be able to share their stories

[37:53]as well so thank you so much artheanty for sharing that with

[37:56]us and the viewers jazakallah i'm going to go back to zakara

[38:01]razia batul um joining again in with our conversation on the wassul

[38:06]um so early on when we were speaking about the types of

[38:12]the whistles you mentioned um you know there's a verse in the

[38:15]quran in sarah maida oh you who have faith be wary of

[38:19]allah and seek the means the wasilla of recourse to him now

[38:23]many scholars interpret that word wasilla the means as in to refer

[38:29]to things like salah psalm and things like that but not for

[38:32]it to refer to the holy prophet and his way um as

[38:37]we were as the conversation we were having so how would you

[38:41]respond to that what does wasilla mean in this ayah in sara

[38:44]maida yes uh first of all allah is talking to us that

[38:54]we oh oh believers yeah like you have to uh seek taqwa

[39:01]you know and then again about like again you have to go

[39:09]for salah and again you have to go for some and fasting

[39:11]it doesn't make sense you know so allah has talked in in

[39:18]the beginning of this ayah this is the last part yeah so

[39:22]when allah says oh oh believers you have to god and and

[39:30]have paity and taqwa and then everything comes in that when allah

[39:37]says you know the the wasilla which can takes you towards allah

[39:45]so that that should be someone you know as as a person

[39:52]not only some actions some amal otherwise for amal we have amal

[39:56]you know so those ayaat are referring for namaz for prayers for

[40:04]fasting for zakat but this is just for was so that's really

[40:13]interesting because i i was having a conversation with someone and they

[40:17]were saying how does the wasilla differ between if for example in

[40:21]the time of the prophet he while he was present he was

[40:27]alive at the time of the imams they were alive and people

[40:29]would use their presence them being live individuals but now that they

[40:36]have passed away does the same concept apply because they're no longer

[40:39]in this world how does that work yeah ali imran chapter 169

[40:46]is going to reply to us this is the wrong way of

[40:59]thinking that oh yeah they have died no yes they are alive

[41:03]not only means they are alive even even kuffar you know like

[41:11]during the after the war of badr yeah the other battle our

[41:14]prophet he went to the graveyard and he talked to the disbelievers

[41:19]who had killed in the battle of buddha you know the way

[41:31]our prophet was talking to dead bodies the companions they were again

[41:38]you know they were amazed and they said how come you're talking

[41:42]to them they're already died so our prophet he he said you

[41:47]are not more good uh listeners than them they can listen better

[41:52]than you but they are not allowed to reply so so when

[41:58]it comes to my assuming after maybe you know you know if

[42:04]we if we understand the meaning of life we we feel that

[42:07]after the death you know human being yeah because his his actual

[42:11]being is a rooh and soul because we reach more nearer to

[42:17]our destination we will become more lively you know like the level

[42:23]of life increases after the deaths no there's no concept of you

[42:27]know just that as a end of the live at all so

[42:31]that would be the best answer yeah yeah and i suppose the

[42:36]same similar thing sort of refers uh would apply to our shohada

[42:39]um exactly right yeah they're they're not yet they're rather they're they're

[42:44]alive thank you yeah um so unfortunately time is running out as

[42:50]as it does when you're having fun um but before we start

[42:54]wrapping up zakira one more thing i really want to hear from

[42:56]you from from a personal level and what what you feel in

[43:02]your heart what final words would you like to say as we

[43:04]wrap up this episode regarding the the wassel through say the shahada

[43:08]the martyrs of karbala and muhammad i i love to share this

[43:21]beautiful poetry of imam shafiyai yeah love poetry yeah we know we

[43:25]know uh there are four aim of sunnah so one is imam

[43:30]shafi and the way he is doing the tawasu is so beautiful

[43:32]he says and i'm full of hope that tomorrow i'm going to

[43:59]get my book of deed my sahifa in my right hand means

[44:05]i would be amongst us because of having in my life so

[44:16]even whatever we can get in this world you know like they

[44:21]are the beautiful mirror of of of of uh like getting closer

[44:27]to allah so so so i think is somehow purpose of our

[44:34]life you know because we we can we cannot live without the

[44:37]without allah and we can reach allah only by a little bit

[44:43]and i love the way amir al-malin you cannot find anyone you

[44:52]know more powerful more stronger than me who can reflect the beautiful

[44:58]jamal and mercy of allah i love i love that i think

[45:06]i'm going to hold on to that as to what still being

[45:08]the purpose of our life because if we want to attain the

[45:12]taqwa and closeness to allah i suppose taqwa is that that journey

[45:18]to allah us and into a soul sorry is that journey to

[45:19]allah um thank you so so much sakura razia batul for joining

[45:24]us today um but it's not over yet um i'm gonna pull

[45:30]up on sean and rizwan again um so i know obviously we

[45:38]talked about how arthianti has has very much uh turned to imam

[45:42]hussein um and how you have been very much gifts to her

[45:46]um how how do you think that serving imam hussain has impacted

[45:49]your life do you feel or notice something special that has happened
