[0:49]our love to him that it doesn't matter where we sit as

[0:53]long as we sit in your medullus and we hear your remembrance

[1:04]brothers may allah bless you father will reward you insha allah there

[1:09]is also here brothers brothers here here here here masha allah on

[1:16]this side on this side assalamu wherever you are brothers if you

[1:51]don't find space there is space here this is the prime location

[2:06]sallallahu allah [Music] abdullah foreign um foreign [Music] foreign frozen all of

[4:23]us together we place our hands on our chest and raise our

[4:30]voice [Laughter] jose [Music] foreign [Music] oh foreign as a gift to

[6:08]the soul of sayyidina and his companions recite the second salah for

[6:25]allah to shower unto this gathering with his infinite mercy and compassion

[6:33]to hasten the reappearance of sayyidina recite the third salawat to the

[6:43]loudest of your voices 61 years after the migration of rasulullah from

[7:00]the holy city of mecca to the city of medina and the

[7:08]year 61 after the hijrah and the month of muharram and specifically

[7:14]on its tenth day was the darkest day in human history and

[7:28]tonight i want to share with you glimpse a glimpse from what

[7:37]occurred on the 10th of muharram from the best of historians and

[7:48]that is your imam the 12th imam al-imam he writes a ziara

[8:02]and he gives it to the shira and he says if you

[8:07]were to visit imam al-hussein on the 10th of muharram this is

[8:11]how you must greet him and it's known as there it's a

[8:21]long ziara inshallah tonight when you go home you read it and

[8:23]you contemplate on the ziara in one portion he says and you

[8:32]stood speaking to imam al-hussein and you stood like a lion holding

[8:37]on to the sword of the fifa defending yourself and defending your

[8:43]tents defending the woman and the children and repelling the enemies of

[8:56]god and you reminded them of your father ali yabna abi talib

[9:00]so they could not they could not attack you man to man

[9:06]this is what the imam says instead they surrounded you from all

[9:14]sides not coming up to him with a sword they were cowards

[9:21]they would not dare to come close to hussein so they showered

[9:27]you with their arrows an arrow fell into the heart of imam

[9:34]hussain directly in his heart imam al-hussein immediately he took the blood

[9:44]from the arrow gushing out from his heart and he put it

[9:51]on his beard telling us that if that drop from the heart

[10:00]of imam hussain that blood would drip on the soil of earth

[10:07]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala would punish all its citizens out of mercy

[10:13]and compassion he stood fatigued tired they surrounded him from every angle

[10:22]stabbing him until he descended from his horse he fell off the

[10:33]horse so imam al-mahdi says the horse went back to the tents

[10:37]but it went back without his master al-imam al-hussein when the woman

[10:44]saw that this horse is full of blood with that imam al-hussein

[10:51]imam al-bahidi says they came out of their tents crying weeping wailing

[11:01]they went and they stood somewhere if you go to karbala you

[11:07]see there somewhere called telus zainabi this is where say the zainab

[11:11]would overlook the battlefield they stood there what did they see they

[11:20]saw shimmer approaching imam al-hussein grabbing gone to the beard of imam

[11:28]al-hussein but it didn't stop there afterwards imam says peace be upon

[11:41]he says this is what the imam says peace be upon the

[11:47]lips which were bleeding from thirst peace be upon every limb which

[11:55]was suffered from hussein they cut every limb from his body then

[12:06]he says the tents were burnt the woman were taken as captives

[12:14]they were paraded from one city to another and the head of

[12:23]abba abdullah hussain was paraded throughout the muslim world we need to

[12:29]connect with this tragedy brothers and sisters this is why i began

[12:34]my discussion with the masa above imam hussain tonight i don't have

[12:40]much to offer besides the fact that we need to sit and

[12:43]cry for imam al-hussein and his tragedy and remember his tragedy and

[12:48]his musa until they reach the palace of yazid again those are

[13:00]the words of the 12th imam he said peace be upon the

[13:06]lips that were beaten by the whip of yazid he put the

[13:12]head of imam al-hussein and he began to whip the head of

[13:19]imam al-hussein i don't know how i can say this honestly i

[13:24]don't know how to how i can say this he would pour

[13:32]wine on the head of imam and i'm saying but the hate

[13:42]mongering and the hate did not stop there they buried imam hussain

[13:49]they put him in his grave with his 72 companions you would

[13:57]think that this would be the end of their hate mongering but

[14:02]no this was just the beginning those people that took the body

[14:09]of imam al-hussein from us were the first group of the enemies

[14:18]they took his body but then people would want to visit imam

[14:24]hussain's grave and they were not given permission they were not allowed

[14:31]to go visit imam al-hussein's grave imam al-hussein's grave in the time

[14:38]of al-muttawakila abbasi was destroyed and the time of bani umayya and

[14:43]bani abbas if you visit imam hussain it equals death you will

[14:47]be killed even if you mention hussein you mention his story you

[14:55]shed tears for him you will be killed you cannot mention him

[15:02]you cannot utter his name many occasions many occasions over and over

[15:10]and over again they tried to destroy the grave of imam al-hussein

[15:17]at a point in time in history my beloved brothers sisters if

[15:25]you were to visit imam al-hussein you would have to give your

[15:31]right arm and this is not a shia source reliable sunni historians

[15:39]they say that people would give the right arm just to visit

[15:44]him and the following year they say we take the right he

[15:47]says last year he took my right arm this here i'm offering

[15:50]you my love take it but i want to go and visit

[15:54]hussain how can such a man survive how can such a name

[16:02]survive reliable sunni historians popular sunni historians this is not just in

[16:13]the shiri books say on the 10th of muharram there was a

[16:17]fight over the severed head of imam al-hussein who is going to

[16:22]take it there was a fight on who's going to burn down

[16:30]the tents who's going to take the orphans as prisoners of war

[16:38]how can such a man survive throughout history 1400 years so that

[16:52]today in the united states of america and this city thousands and

[16:56]thousands of people flood so that they can show their love their

[17:04]devotion to imam al-hussein fast forward to 2015 after all those tragedies

[17:15]and everything that i just shared with you 2015 there was a

[17:20]woman an old woman walking to the shrine of imam hussain with

[17:24]a six seven year old boy so they told her your very

[17:34]frail you you can't walk this walk is going to be extremely

[17:44]burdensome it's going to be extremely difficult for you why are you

[17:51]coming during this walk it's hot she says listen i've come all

[17:58]the way from basila 800 kilometers and i've been walking with this

[18:04]young boy why she says because this was the peak of isis

[18:12]the peak of isis and arak all the imam al-hussein were subject

[18:20]to a possible terrorist attack many terrorist attacks took place many of

[18:27]them were killed so this woman says i saw in the news

[18:30]that his mother and father his mother and father were killed isis

[18:39]detonated a bomb i lost my son and my daughter-in-law isis killed

[18:46]them while they were walking towards the zealot of imam and hussain

[18:49]while they were walking towards arba'in so what did you do what

[18:55]did she do she said i grabbed him my grandson and i

[18:59]said let's walk tell her why she says because i didn't want

[19:06]two of the arena of imam al-hussein to decrease a number how

[19:13]is this possible somebody loses her son she loses her family then

[19:21]she grabs this boy and she says let's go and walk to

[19:23]the shrine of imam al-hussein if you have gone to the ziya

[19:28]of imam hussein you will see there is people walking there is

[19:36]people limping there is people on crutches there is people crawling because

[19:44]they do not have the ability to walk and they cannot afford

[19:51]crutches crawling to hussein the young the old the rich the poor

[19:59]the famous every single person walks and chants lebec we are here

[20:11]out of love we are here we've left our homes we've left

[20:21]our businesses we've left our comfort to come and repay our oath

[20:27]of allegiance to ya why because we the lovers of hussein we

[20:37]who attribute ourselves to hussein we who are known to be husseini

[20:44]hussain is our soul you cannot take our soul from us we

[20:52]would be dead without our saying we'd be nothing without us if

[21:00]you want to know if you're a min check your heart if

[21:06]there is a burning flame within your heart that calls out yah

[21:11]hussain know that you are a man who's put that brain burning

[21:19]flame within you who allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allah subhanahu wa has

[21:29]put a burning flame of love of passion for imam al-hussein and

[21:36]the hearts of the menin and nobody can take that away from

[21:44]you nobody on the 10th of muharram imam zainul abedin says you

[21:56]know the imam was ill in his tent he wasn't able to

[22:03]see what was happening but when they dragged him out of his

[22:06]tent he says he says i looked and i could not believe

[22:13]what i was seeing my family my brothers my cousins my father

[22:23]my uncle slain beheaded in such a way the best of the

[22:29]companions of rasulullah killed in such a way i saw the children

[22:41]running from one tent to another trying to survive the fire faka

[22:46]that's nafsiya and i was about to die in that moment imam

[22:57]zayn al-abidin says she saw me she said o my beloved or

[23:13]the only man who's left from the progeny of ali or the

[23:21]inheritor of the imam be patient this is easier said than done

[23:34]a woman who's lost her children her brothers she's taken us captives

[23:41]she's seen every possible misery within less than a few hours she's

[23:45]not breaking down she's not crying she's not wailing but she is

[23:50]comforting her nephew imam zainul abedin she said to him things look

[23:58]horrible right now indeed they are but let me tell you there

[24:03]was an oath from allah a pledge from allah a promise from

[24:11]allah to rasulullah from rasulullah to imam ali passed on to imam

[24:16]hasan given to imam al-hussein that after all this is over allah

[24:22]will create people who will demonstrate their love for who will cry

[24:31]for hussein who will build a mozillium for hussain and his grave

[24:38]will be like a shining star to the entire world nobody would

[24:42]be able to deny husseins his right to rise to shine then

[24:49]she says but the emma of coffre the leaders of kufr injustice

[24:58]tyranny hypocrisy evil malice they will gather and they will do whatever

[25:06]they possibly can they'll create taliban they'll create isis they'll create al-qaeda

[25:14]they will create anything possible they will spend millions and billions of

[25:19]dollars to destroy the grave of hussein so that hussein will no

[25:24]longer be remembered and known but they face what they face allah

[25:30]allah has a different plan what is allah's plan to allow hussain

[25:35]to rise every day and they cannot withstand allah and the will

[25:42]of allah this is a promise from sayyidah zainab on the 10th

[25:53]of muharram 1400 years ago despite the so brothers tonight on this

[25:59]night when you gather here commemorating ask yourself something decide to lose

[26:15]join hussein look how rich he is look how powerful he is

[26:25]it's a lost plan and if you want to be successful in

[26:33]life if you want to live a life of peace tranquility and

[26:40]this dunya and if you want to be united with hussain his

[26:45]companions rasool allah and his forefathers this is a decision you make

[26:52]right now and like i said imam hussain's companions were selected individuals

[27:01]they were chosen individuals you don't just randomly show up it's a

[27:13]rigorous process but you are the man for the job you are

[27:23]here this is the beginning of the journey continue the journey through

[27:27]the rest of your life with imam al-hussein have a passion for

[27:31]imam al-hussein one day a man by the name of hussain the

[27:41]grandson of abu hamza tamali you know the dua that's created he

[27:53]says i wanted to visit imam al-hussein but i was extremely afraid

[27:58]i was scared he said i arrived in the midst of the

[28:05]night on a dark night i found the grave of imam al-hussein

[28:13]i was about to go i was about to give my visitation

[28:15]i was stopped so obviously he was scared he said i'm not

[28:21]going to take no risks let me go back he said i

[28:26]went in hiding a few hours later i came and i was

[28:30]stopped again but this person stopping me was gentle i knew it

[28:37]can't be one of the people of benny omaya who are stopping

[28:44]me so who is this person so i asked him why are

[28:51]you stopping me don't you know there's going to be a sunrise

[28:55]and if the sun rises i cannot be here i cannot finish

[28:58]my zealous hussain allow me to visit imam hussain this is in

[29:05]the book ziyarat by ebnei an authentic book he says i am

[29:17]an angel designated to guard the grave of imam al-hussein so why

[29:20]don't you let me because musa has been given permission to come

[29:25]and visit imam al hussein musa is here visiting he's being honored

[29:35]here the hadith says every prophet and every messenger of god seeks

[29:41]permission seeks permission it's not like you know mexico or hawaii or

[29:48]alaska or south france or italy that you just book your flight

[29:51]and you show up there no angels hadith say those are not

[30:03]my words angels queue up for a hundred years before they're given

[30:06]permission to visit imam hussain to descend on his grave what happened

[30:13]that you were chosen to be here you were given permission to

[30:19]be here we don't live close to karbala this is our karbala

[30:33]wanted you to be here he's chosen you you are blessed one

[30:42]day and i want to continue with this one day a person

[30:46]comes into the presence of he is a good ma'awiyah he was

[30:58]one of the companions of imam sadiq his name happened to be

[31:02]ma'awi he said i entered onto imam assad he was praying when

[31:09]he finished his salah he went to sujud and he cried until

[31:15]his beard was full of tears he said ya allah ya allah

[31:21]o you the one who has chosen us o you the one

[31:26]who's chosen the last messenger of god from us you've given us

[31:31]knowledge you've given us authority you have given us love in the

[31:37]hearts of the believers oh allah forgive me listen to this subhanallah

[31:46]allahu forgive me and my brothers the visitors of the shrine of

[31:54]imam al-hussein my grandfather hussain he calls them his brothers and imam

[32:00]assad prays for them imam sadiq asks for forgiveness for them a

[32:06]few nights ago i told you an unborn fetus because it's sinless

[32:11]it's pure it says to allah i won't enter paradise without my

[32:17]mother and allah says yes he honors an unborn child and grants

[32:25]the mother jannah imagine the dua of mama forgive them then he

[32:32]continues to say oh allah they have left their homes they have

[32:37]left their comfort despite the odds despite our enemies mocking them they

[32:43]have made this journey they have spent their money they have gone

[32:50]out of their way they have endangered themselves why show us love

[33:00]to show their devotion to us oh allah then he says have

[33:11]mercy upon those who walk towards the shrine of husain o allah

[33:16]have mercy upon those who left their families behind to visit hussein

[33:21]o allah send your mercy upon those who spend their money going

[33:28]to the visitation of imam al-hussein o allah have mercy upon those

[33:34]who put their cheeks on the grave of hussein o allah have

[33:42]mercy upon those individuals who are sun burned walking towards hussein and

[33:55]then he says allah i entrust them you you take care of

[34:01]them and if they were to die in the process oh allah

[34:08]you must quench the thirst on the day of judgment you know

[34:17]what the hadith says the hadith says his soul ascended to the

[34:30]arch of allah to the right side of the throne of god

[34:33]i don't know what that means all i know is a closest

[34:38]entity to the almighty god because god is not sitting on the

[34:45]throne this i don't think the people it just cannot get more

[35:02]phenomenal than that if you visit hussein it's as if you visited

[35:06]god on his throne those are not my words and some people

[35:13]say say it this is such an exaggeration how could this be

[35:20]a person comes to imam and he says to him i've come

[35:28]to i've just returned from hajj imam says how many have you

[35:34]gone he says 19 he says do one more and it will

[35:35]be equivalent to one ziara of imam al-hussein do one more and

[35:42]it will be equivalent to one's why why is god so generous

[35:53]with hussain you you want to know why because there was nothing

[35:58]you could have given more imam says how can we even translate

[36:15]this they even took his clothes he had children he gave all

[36:27]his children if he had 70 more he would have given them

[36:29]if he would have had 7 000 more you would have given

[36:33]them and throughout the whole process he says in oh god i

[36:49]am pleased thank you for choosing me did not flinch he did

[36:56]not hesitate you are the followers of hussein how can we ever

[37:09]go back to sin knowing that maybe our name will be erased

[37:14]off those who imam al-hussein wants to invite to karbala like i

[37:26]told you visiting imam al-hussein is an honor and a privilege bestowed

[37:31]upon angels and prophets of god don't think that no sha allah

[37:33]whenever i want i'll make a plan and i'll be there in

[37:37]karbala that's not the case you have to be chosen your name

[37:41]has to be written and the hadith says a few things about

[37:46]the visitors of imam al-hussein tonight is the night of aza i

[37:48]want to start my aza one is that when you enter the

[37:57]grave of imam al-hussein at any given time there are seventy thousand

[38:00]angels how they look they're described by the imam allah has created

[38:07]seventy thousand angels specifically for the grave of imam al-hussein they look

[38:17]pale and a state of mourning sadness sorrow crying surrounding the grave

[38:31]of imam hussain writing down the names of his irene not only

[38:35]that praying supplicating doing is when you visit imam al hussein they

[38:41]write your name when you leave allah gives the thawab of the

[38:46]angels to you take it seventy thousand angels praying take it take

[38:51]the take their tawab take it with you this is how i

[38:58]honor hussain number two four thousand angels as soon as you become

[39:03]a z of imam hussain four thousand angels will escort you to

[39:07]your home and they will never leave you they will be with

[39:10]you until the moment you die they will walk behind your janazah

[39:14]and they will continue to do istighfar for you until the day

[39:19]of judgment number three you are greeted by fatima to zara she

[39:30]receives you number four rasool allah sallam is the one that gives

[39:42]salams to you he's there when you're there rasool allah starts before

[39:50]you even say salaam alaika abdullah rasool allah tells you you are

[39:55]my beloved you are here to visit hussain assalamu alaikum peace be

[40:00]with you and more importantly more importantly than anything else you go

[40:13]and you connect with your imam it's a shine it's a sign

[40:23]of love brothers and sisters if you have not yet gone to

[40:28]the visitation of imam al-hussein make sure you decide you're going to

[40:32]visit him as soon as possible with a group without a group

[40:40]with difficulty or with ease make it happen and the hadith say

[40:44]every penny that you spend in going to visiting imam al-hussein will

[40:48]be repaid to you and allah says the most important books of

[40:57]the muslims say sunni and shia allah blessed hussain with a few

[41:01]things one ja allah allah has blessed the soil of karbala that

[41:12]carries this grandson of rasool allah that shifa cure is in the

[41:19]soil of the grave of imam al-hussein cure i don't have time

[41:23]to give you stories there are people in this gathering who have

[41:28]seen it firsthand what the soil of imam al-hussein does to an

[41:32]ill person who is dying it resurrects the dead number two allah

[41:48]and next to the grave of imam al-hussein you go to him

[41:52]you raise your hands and there you are one day a person

[42:00]was going towards karbala one of the companions of the imams he

[42:03]says why are you going there he says the imam has hired

[42:07]me to go and pray for him there so this man was

[42:11]confused why is the imam hiring someone to go to karbala to

[42:16]pray for the imam isn't he an imam so he says to

[42:18]him he said ya imam why did you have to hire someone

[42:23]and send him to karbala why don't you just pray for yourself

[42:25]he says allah has special places that he has chosen and he

[42:39]wants you to be there to pray there he would grant you

[42:45]your hajjah the greatest of them is karbala and number three and

[42:52]the imams the nine imams are from the progeny of hussein and

[42:58]the twelfth is from the progeny of husain this is how allah

[43:01]has honored him and tonight though we cannot be in karbala but

[43:09]we can transfer our souls to karbala we will go from here

[43:14]to karbala and we will give him our oath of allegiance on

[43:23]a night like this when imam al-hussein was sharpening his sword he

[43:32]was reading his own eulogy say the zainab comes and says to

[43:36]him o my brother how can i hear you [Music] speak of

[43:45]death in such a manner how can i hear this say it

[43:52]as imam al-hussein says oh my sister zaineb tomorrow after i go

[43:59]i want you to take care of the orphans and i want

[44:03]you to observe patience and i want you to continue this journey

[44:08]there a few of the companions of imam al-hussein stood up and

[44:14]they repaid their oath of allegiance to him you all know this

[44:17]and they stood with him and they gave their life for imam

[44:23]al-hussein so this is why we're here we are at the house

[44:27]of hussein the modulus of hussein to repay our oath of allegiance

[44:32]to him take your hearts your souls to karbala i all of

[45:09]us together foreign those who want to write their names those who

[45:41]are given the privilege to be amongst the millions of people who

[45:48]are there raise your voice with me tonight we read the mossad

[46:17]of imam al-hussein's farewell and the masa above the six-month-year-old infant aliyan

[46:25]al-aqbar so get your hearts ready to shed tears on the eve

[46:30]of the tenth of muharram imam al-hussein stood out of the tents

[46:37]after he looked there were no men left in his camp all

[46:42]slain he wore the amman of his gran ah and he sat

[46:53]on the back of his horse he came towards the camp of

[47:00]the woman the tent of zainab and he called out a hell

[47:05]of a teen oh my family come come so i can say

[47:21]my goodbyes to you those are the last moments [Applause] this baby

[47:33]he is about to die go and take him to the enemies

[47:39]maybe they would give him a drop of water imam al-hussein looked

[47:42]at him and this baby could not even move he took him

[47:48]towards the enemies he says do you know anyone besides me who

[48:00]is the grandson of rasulullah they said no he says do you

[48:05]know anyone are the masters of the youth of paradise do you

[48:19]know anyone besides me who was a grandson to a prophet of

[48:25]god on the face of this earth they said no he said

[48:27]then take this baby in what is the punishment what is the

[48:43]crime of this infant take him give him some water even the

[48:47]enemies they wanted to give him water some of them said take

[48:52]the baby give him some water um he called he says do

[49:06]you see the baby he says yes he says do you see

[49:09]the neck of the baby he says yes he says i want

[49:14]your arrow to land in the neck of the baby foreign [Music]

[49:43]the arrow landed in the neck of the child imam al-hussein took

[49:49]the blood of the child he threw it to the skies he

[49:51]says oh allah this is my son my last sacrifice on this

[49:57]day except this humble sacrifice from me they say traditions say listen

[50:06]to me traditions say imam al-hussein stopped he was wondering how am

[50:10]i gonna take this child back to his mother what am i

[50:13]going to tell his mother i took ali you know he wasn't

[50:17]aware of warfare i took qasim i took the rest of them

[50:20]but what about a six-month-year-old infant so he put him under his

[50:28]abba he was hiding him he came to the tents he called

[50:30]out his sister zainab she came out she says they quench his

[50:38]thirst he says to her take this baby but don't let his

[50:47]mother see him the mother came she saw the baby she began

[50:52]to cry she began to weep imam al-hussein says you know what

[50:58]give the baby back to me what did he do allahu akbar

[51:01]he went he took his sword he dug a small grave a

[51:07]tiny grave and he buried this infant in the grave then he

[51:13]came back he went into the tent of the woman he said

[51:19][Applause] he said go and change your attire to the entire of

[51:39]the prisoners of war allah [Applause] came [Applause] one more time imam

[52:20]hussain raised his voice brothers don't be shy sisters i want you

[52:36]to raise your voice you cannot be shy tonight this is imam

[52:41]hussain even if the tears aren't coming raise your voice raise he

[52:54]was about to leave brothers and sisters suddenly he heard a voice

[53:02]from the tent calling out [Music] allah all of us together what

[53:27]does it mean it means [Music] all of us together for your

[54:02]grandfather hussain one more time who is it who is it he

[54:14]descended from his horse he realized this his sister zainab zainab what

[54:20]is it that you need she said oh yeah i want you

[54:25]to look towards medina and lift up your shirt for me he

[54:29]says zainab what's happened she says when i was with my mother

[54:36]father and it was her last moments she told me oh zainab

[54:40]on the 10th of muharram no one will there be there for

[54:42]hussain besides you on that last moment on that last moment there

[54:54]will be no one before shem sits on the chest of your

[54:57]brother hussain take him by the chest kiss his chest and tell

[55:06]him that this is of your from your mother father towards medina
