[2:47]dream [Applause] foreign [Music] [Music] muhammad as a gift to the soul

[3:53]of mawlana hussein and his honorable companions recite the second salawat for

[4:06]allah to shower onto this gathering with his infinite mercy and compassion

[4:11]and to hasten the reappearance of sayidina or maulana sahib zaman recite

[4:18]the third salawah to the loudest of your voices on a dark

[4:34]night in the month of rajab 62 years after the hijrah the

[4:50]migration of rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam from mecca to medina the governor

[5:00]of medina walid released a few brigades and battalions to shut down

[5:15]the entire city the battalions would stand in front of every street

[5:25]and the brigade made its way made its way to the most

[5:29]prestigious part of town most honorable most sacred alley in the holy

[5:43]city of medina known as the alley of benihashin they arrived the

[5:50]soldiers arrived at the most noble door to the door of the

[5:58]most sacred man in the city of medina they knocked the door

[6:04]they knocked the door and who who opened the door a young

[6:14]man who most resembled rasulullah when they looked at him as if

[6:28]it was rasulullah sallam who had opened the door the light the

[6:36]illuminating from his face they told him we are here for your

[6:45]father as your father home who was this young man this young

[6:53]man was aliyon who was his father his father would say it

[7:03]we are here for your father tell your father to come to

[7:12]the governor's palace he said i will convey him moments later imam

[7:20]hussain called his brothers his cousins his nephews benihashem they surrounded the

[7:25]imam and they made their way to the palace of waleed the

[7:31]governor of medina imam hussain entered by himself the governor informed him

[7:41]that he has received the letter from sham from the so-called khalifa

[7:46]the newly appointed khalifa yazid bin mu'awiy informing him that you're the

[7:54]very first person to know this has died the new khalifa has

[8:01]sent a letter for me to take bay'a from the people of

[8:04]madina but specifically from yuya hussain you need to pay abaya to

[8:12]yazid and that is why i have summoned you in the middle

[8:13]of the night imam hussain then went on to say his most

[8:27]famous statement his most beloved statement to the heart of every free

[8:34]man he said khalifa of rasulullah is a drunken man he's a

[9:13]fool he kills innocent people he's hijacked the religion of islam and

[9:19]a man like me does not pay allegiance to a man like

[9:23]yazid he did not say me i hussain do not pay allegiance

[9:29]to yazid he says a man like me a man with honor

[9:33]with dignity and pursuit of freedom liberty justice does not pay allegiance

[9:40]to a man like yazid and he's given me two options he's

[9:52]given me two options either humiliation meaning i give him my allegiance

[9:59]i belittle myself i belittle islam i belittle faith humanity my dignity

[10:05]or death and i will never choose humiliation those words like they

[10:16]move every single soul on the face of this earth moved this

[10:21]governor it moved him it shook him especially when it comes from

[10:29]the words from the mouth of imam al-hussein himself so he said

[10:35]to him oh the grandson of rasulullah it's just a word we're

[10:45]not asking i'm not asking much from you just say this word

[10:49]and leave i don't want to have to stain my hands with

[10:51]your blood please listen to me brothers especially my younger friends we

[11:02]just want one word from you we're not asking for much imam

[11:07]hussain says wow unto you o man do you not know the

[11:12]value of a word do you not know the value of a

[11:16]man's word allah is pleased with one word allah has worshipped with

[11:26]one word you descend allah's wrath unto you by one word wars

[11:32]are waged with one word peace is made with one word your

[11:39]wife is halal unto you with one word she becomes halal unto

[11:43]you with one word you enter paradise with one word you seek

[11:49]the forgiveness of allah with one word and the list goes on

[11:52]then he says do you still not know the value of a

[11:54]word of a statement you want me to give you the statement

[12:02]the honor of a man is his word the dignity of a

[12:08]man is his word but what kind of word a word that

[12:18]translates into action a meaningful word and i often especially in those

[12:28]10 nights that are so dear to us i often think what

[12:36]should be that word what should be that statement that should be

[12:40]communicated from the member of imam hussain to his lovers and followers

[12:49]what is it that we all need to hear about what is

[12:54]it that we all need to be reminded of and believe me

[13:07]sometimes choosing the easy way out what is convenient is not the

[13:20]answer that i give myself if i truly want to ask myself

[13:29]what is it that imam al-hussein wants from me the response that

[13:34]i get the response that i give myself is look don't look

[13:40]for an easy way out of this it's not going to be

[13:47]easy it's going to be difficult but it's a task and it

[13:55]is a responsibility and we must rise to the occasion and a

[14:00]lot of people say well talking about something controversial always brings a

[14:08]headache it involves so much headache it's better to just avoid it

[14:11]and i tell you this is an advice not only given to

[14:19]speakers and scholars and ulama and authors and free thinkers but it

[14:25]is an advice that was also given to imam ali himself you

[14:31]know imam ali was given the option of khilafah it was so

[14:38]easy for him they told him we will give you this allegiance

[14:44]on a silver platter give us your hand he says what did

[15:05]he say he says the book of allah the quran of course

[15:08]indeed rasulullah of course is but to the method of the shechem

[15:16]meaning the two that came prior to him omar on abu bakr

[15:19]no it is going to be my way it is going to

[15:20]be my jihad so they said to him then we're sorry we

[15:26]can't give you we cannot give you the allegiance he could have

[15:30]just ignored that little segment took the allegiance and done what he

[15:34]wanted to do but no imam hussain who gives value to haskell

[15:43]as the son of ali who honored his kalima so they gave

[15:50]him this advice could have just simply said a word and would

[15:55]have been over this advice don't become controversial look at that companions

[16:02]of imam amir al-mu'min yasir his whole life was prosecuted until the

[16:10]moment he died because he spoke the truth because he said things

[16:15]that were not did not fall as music on the ears of

[16:20]some people one of the greatest companions of rasulullah lived in exile

[16:31]his last days and he died in exile do you think they

[16:36]were not told that look filter there's something called filter say something

[16:43]that is most more convenient so you don't end up in exile

[16:46]so you don't end up beaten maitha who is arguably one of

[16:54]the greatest if not the greatest of the companions of he was

[16:59]a young man young man probably at the age of many of

[17:02]you sitting here listen to this this is not just a conversation

[17:07]with imam ali and maitham this is a conversation with imam ali

[17:10]and all his companions remove the name mathem from the story and

[17:16]put your name imam ali says to him do you know how

[17:22]you're going to die because of course not i don't know how

[17:27]i'm going to die he says would you like me to tell

[17:30]you how you're going to die he says sure why not he

[17:34]says you're going to speak of my fab you're going to speak

[17:46]of my virtues you're going to speak of the truth don't panic

[17:57]just remain seated so my [Music] bye [Music] brothers and sisters nothing's

[18:52]gonna happen don't panic muhammad do you know how you're going to

[19:06]die maitham says no i don't know how i'm going to die

[19:12]he says to him ya maitham you will speak of the truth

[19:18]you will speak of my virtues you will speak of my haqq

[19:24]my right and you will be taken as a captive you will

[19:27]be taken as a prisoner you will be lashed you will be

[19:34]beaten you will be tortured what does maitham ask imam amir al-mu'manin

[19:38]imagine imagine a heart soulful of iman brothers get this garbage out

[19:45]of your heart and replace it with the love of amir al-mu'min

[19:48]whatever is worldly take it out place there place allah there place

[19:57]imam hussain there whatever there is it's enough enough is enough say

[20:02]enough is enough i'm not going to bring anything that takes me

[20:05]away from allah and my heart this is a heart of a

[20:11]man maitham a tamar that was occupied by the love of allah

[20:14]so he says to him what will i do will i give

[20:20]up will i break will i tremble will i be afraid he

[20:27]said no you will not you will remain strong this was his

[20:30]question from amir al-muman he didn't say to him an unfortunate reality

[20:36]that i have to face where i'm going to go to prison

[20:40]and i'm going to be beaten then he says but that's not

[20:44]the end you're going to speak and speak and speak and they

[20:47]tell until they take you to a palm tree they're going to

[20:51]they they're going to crucify you on this prom tree oh maitham

[20:54]crucify you says will i give up will i be afraid where

[21:04]i will i tremble he says no you will not he says

[21:08]how will i be killed he says first they would want to

[21:16]mute you so they're going to cut your tongue what will happen

[21:21]when they cut my time nothing you will remain strong you will

[21:26]be a faithful person a loyal person until they kill you think

[21:31]nathan was not given the advice at the time that look maitham

[21:35]just let it go it's not worth it you're going through torture

[21:40]instead maithamit tamar says to him can you show me that palm

[21:48]tree so imam ali one day takes his hand and takes him

[22:07]thanking allah subhana wa ta'ala that he was going to gift him

[22:12]with shahada and martyrdom and tonight i want to talk about something

[22:22]that is also extremely important and dear to the heart of imam

[22:28]al-hussein and that is the privilege of helping others something that we

[22:37]don't hear too often and the title gives it away helping others

[22:47]brothers and sisters in islam is considered a privilege it's not something

[22:58]that is given to every single person it is a privilege that

[23:05]knocks at the door of the most beloveds of allah wa ta'ala

[23:08]and i will tell you why one day a farmer comes to

[23:15]imam jaffar in madina he says to him yabna rasool allah i

[23:22]come to you from ahwaz is a city in contemporary iran it

[23:30]was part of iraq possibly at the time he says to him

[23:35]there yet we have a governor this governor is in taqiyya i

[23:38]know that he is one of your followers i know that he

[23:43]loves you i know that he listens to you and i have

[23:46]so much taxes to pay and i'm so much in debt to

[23:51]the government i would never be able to survive can you please

[23:56]help me with my taxes can you please write a statement to

[24:00]this governor maybe he would take less taxes from me this happens

[24:09]to many of us by the way people come and ask us

[24:13]for help because you have a friend because you're in a position

[24:17]of influence says bring me a paper and pen imam sadaq writes

[24:25]this statement look how general it is why because imam assad knows

[24:30]that there will be a day where his shia has followers will

[24:35]read this letter so he makes it a general statement not specifically

[24:39]for that specific person so we say well this was speaking to

[24:44]that specific person it doesn't speak to me he says there is

[24:52]shade mercy compassion on the day where there is no shade mercy

[24:56]and compassion meaning on the day of judgment for those who solve

[25:02]the problems of their brothers in faith then imam assad wrote and

[25:09]this man is your brother wasallam one line this man took the

[25:18]letter he went to the governor his name was najashi he sat

[25:22]down everybody left he says to him i have a letter for

[25:26]you the man opened the letter he realized that it was the

[25:33]handwriting of imam assad signed by imam assad he took the letter

[25:38]he kissed it he put it on top of his head he

[25:41]says you carried a letter handwritten letter from imam assad to me

[25:46]how much do you need to pay in taxes 200 he called

[25:55]his personal secretary personal assistant he says do we have 200 durhams

[26:01]he said yes he said please give it to this man gave

[26:03]him 200 dirhams this man thanked najashi thank you very much may

[26:08]allah bless you he wanted to leave he says sit down where

[26:12]are you going do you have a house he says no i'm

[26:18]just a simple farmer so he told us personal assistant bring me

[26:22]all my real estate how much do i own he says you

[26:27]own a lot many homes many lots many pieces of land many

[26:30]commercial real estate let's say there was 70 deeds give him 35

[26:40]of them this man was shocked i don't need all of this

[26:43]just take it are you pleased he says i'm beyond pleased of

[26:47]course i'm pleased i didn't expect this he thanks him he wants

[26:53]to leave he says sit down how many horses do you have

[26:57]he says i i don't have a horse i walk he asks

[27:01]his personal assistants how many horses do i own for example he

[27:06]tells them 50 says give 25 of them to this man this

[27:10]man is shocked you don't have to do this believe me you

[27:13]don't have to do this i am pleased i don't need anymore

[27:15]says to him are you happy he says of course i'm happy

[27:22]he wants to leave he says sit down how many servants do

[27:28]you have i don't have any servants gives him half a sir

[27:33]he divides everything that he owns with this man 50 50.

[27:37]50 50 then he tells him please all i ask of you

[27:42]is when you return to madinah tell my imam what i did

[27:48]so that my imam can be pleased with me meaning what meaning

[27:52]i didn't do this for you i wasn't trying to please you

[27:56]i was trying to please allah subhanahu wa ta'ala through my imam

[28:03]so this man goes back to madinah months later he tells the

[28:06]imam the story as he continues with the story the imam's face

[28:11]is so joyful he begins to shed tears of joy the imam

[28:17]starts shedding tears of joy so he says this man says to

[28:21]him yabna rasool allah it seems that this man made you happy

[28:26]he says he's made allah happy at his throne how many years

[29:04]do you have to pray and do you have to fast and

[29:08]you have to go to hajj what do you have to do

[29:11]to get to this status this is what's missing out of the

[29:15]min the pulpit people believe the only way to the heart of

[29:20]your imam allah subhanahu wa ta'ala being pleased rasulullah being pleases through

[29:26]salah avoiding of sin and so on and so forth this indeed

[29:32]i tell you brothers sisters if you read the hadith that speak

[29:37]of helping others you would think we are created for the sole

[29:40]purpose of serving one another aiding one another assisting one another taking

[29:52]care taking care of one another we are we're devastated by enemies

[30:11]things are very difficult for us you've promised us that one day

[30:18]this is all going to go away one day this is all

[30:19]going to end but the people of quraysh gain more power over

[30:27]us they prosecute us and they had put them where and shabba

[30:31]in exile they would not sell them any goods they would buy

[30:36]they would not buy any goods from them they would not even

[30:41]send them food even water was scarce for them they didn't have

[30:45]water to drink so the muslims were on the verge of breaking

[30:51]down imagine and i want to kind of relate this to our

[30:53]situation today as muslims in america many of us we feel we're

[30:59]suffocating and this is a reality many of us at airports we've

[31:06]gone back home we visited our uncle aunts grandparents parents when we

[31:10]come back there has to be an interrogation where were you well

[31:13]i was back home i was visiting my family why is that

[31:17]a problem or when you go through the airports you're always randomly

[31:22]selected always if you are a woman wearing the hijab competing against

[31:28]somebody else who's not wearing the hijab if your name is ali

[31:33]or fatima competing against somebody whose name is not ali or fatima

[31:38]it's difficult so i want to talk about this they came to

[31:40]him ya rasulallah when is this going to end allah subhanahu wa

[31:48]ta'ala revealed the 27th chapter of the holy quran the small and

[31:58]says the reply to your question is in the surah why because

[32:07]allah there gives the example of this ant that we see we

[32:11]don't even we don't even give a care when we look at

[32:17]this ant because it's so small it's tiny right allah uses that

[32:21]story of sulaiman and how sulaiman's troops sulaiman was the king of

[32:25]kings the most powerful man and he's marching through the desert an

[32:31]ant calls out oh ants hide away sulaiman is coming he's marching

[32:33]he's going to destroy you so sulaiman because he knew al haywan

[32:38]he knew the language of the animals he knew what she said

[32:43]so sulaiman smiled allah brings this ayah within the quran and names

[32:51]the 27th chapter why go read about the ant the ant doesn't

[32:57]have a commander there is no king there is no president there

[33:01]is no prime minister but they all listen faithfully execute their job

[33:07]without outside supervision without somebody telling look if you don't do this

[33:11]there's going to be a punishment the small insignificant and allah says

[33:23]all my creation is an ayah as a sign use my creation

[33:29]to seek nearness to me understanding number two the ants will always

[33:37]find a way you all know this as soon as they realize

[33:44]one door is shut you see them all moving to the side

[33:46]you shut this they all move to another they will always find

[33:51]a way they're not going to be sitting there well ah well

[33:55]what are you going to what are we going to do it's

[33:58]the end of you know our plan they always have another plan

[34:04]they'll always find a way they're always determined and they plan ahead

[34:10]they plan ahead they plan for the winter they plan for the

[34:15]summer and a lot more to be learned from the life of

[34:16]this small insect that allah wa ta'ala dedicates a whole chapter in

[34:21]the holy quran go read this chapter tonight contemplate on this chapter

[34:29]tonight allah sends this whole chapter telling the muslims there is one

[34:33]way for things to change for you to become like dance work

[34:38]together help one another do not give up plan ahead that's what's

[34:45]going to change things around and allah tells me and you the

[34:51]same thing today if we don't get involved if we do not

[34:57]decide to change things for our community we cannot we no longer

[35:03]can afford to think as individuals and act as individuals we must

[35:12]immediately tell ourselves and teach our children we think produce and execute

[35:18]as a community not as individuals many people think they've come to

[35:24]this country on a long vacation is this true many people thought

[35:31]this i'm here for a few years i'm gonna make some money

[35:34]and whatever money they got they built homes back home but who

[35:40]goes to that home nobody now it's deserted one month out of

[35:43]the year if that somebody goes and enjoys the summer vacation there

[35:47]and you come back life is here we live here now not

[35:55]just us the whole united states as a community of immigrants except

[36:00]a few why is it that others are prosperous now they are

[36:07]successful they not only control the economy politics media and we're sitting

[36:14]there complaining not being involved is not a solution in fact your

[36:20]enemies don't want you to be involved because when you're not involved

[36:26]who takes your place who has a voice not only that i'm

[36:32]not talking about just political involvement we have to be able to

[36:39]understand we must demonstrate the true nature of islam the essence of

[36:43]islam i'm not against people standing in the middle of a street

[36:49]praying people look at the salah of the muslims and it's it's

[36:55]beautiful i'm not against that but that is really not very impactful

[37:03]it's not you know what's impactful i read a story about an

[37:12]old lady who converted just before she died subhanallah this lady calls

[37:20]a cap listen to this beautiful story this lady calls a cab

[37:24]and the cab arrives at the break of dawn to her house

[37:31]it's a lady she's she has a little bag and you know

[37:36]couple of things in her plastic bag and the cab goes and

[37:40]knocks the door so she says can you help me she's an

[37:44]old lady she's frail she cannot walk so he gets her luggage

[37:47]he helps her he puts her in the vehicle he says where

[37:52]are you going she says i'm going to the hospice the doctor

[37:56]said it's my last day i'm prepared for death those are my

[38:03]last days can you drive through downtown it's a taxi driver yeah

[38:10]sure so she takes this cab driver and she says this is

[38:14]where i got married and then can you go to this street

[38:22]and he goes there this is this was my school this was

[38:24]my high school and then can you go to this location this

[38:31]was my favorite park growing up this was my school this cab

[38:41]driver says without telling her i shut down the meter i shut

[38:46]off the meter saturn where else do you want to go i'll

[38:48]show you anything you want to see this is my favorite restaurant

[38:51]my favorite pizzeria so this is i drove her four hours i

[38:55]drove around for four hours and then we arrived to the hospice

[39:03]i dropped her off i put her luggage she said to me

[39:06]how much do i owe you i said nothing the cab driver

[39:12]says nothing so what do you mean nothing you got to make

[39:14]a living i don't need this money i'm dying i i can

[39:18]afford to pay you he says i know you can but i

[39:22]didn't do this for you he says then who did you do

[39:29]it for he said i did it for allah listen i did

[39:35]it for allah allah put me in your way allah chose me

[39:40]to be your cab driver today i'm glad you didn't end up

[39:46]with a mean cab driver i'm glad that i was here to

[39:52]take care of you and help you and show you compassion and

[39:56]show you kindness because this is what pleases allah we're taught as

[40:02]muslims that if people in need are placed in our lives it

[40:05]is a blessing from allah it's a form of charity consider this

[40:10]a charity for me this woman converts to islam on her last

[40:13]days because of the cab driver before while she was terminally terminally

[40:20]ill this is how we're ought to show islam to the public

[40:36]a day the the the companion who narrates the story says in

[40:43]the middle of the heat noon time i said i saw amir

[40:49]al-mu'min sitting in front of his house not inside his house by

[40:51]the way imam ali he didn't go and live in the house

[40:56]of the khilafah he lived he made a little shack for himself

[40:59]where he could not even walk in that house he could not

[41:04]even walk there he had to bow and walk through the through

[41:10]the house it was like a maze a very small shack he

[41:13]was sitting in front of the door so this person comes to

[41:17]him hamadani what are you doing in the middle of the heat

[41:24]you're sitting in front of your house why don't you go inside

[41:28]he said maybe there is somebody that's going to need me listen

[41:32]maybe somebody that's going to need me it's better to see me

[41:38]in front of my house than inside the house maybe if i'm

[41:39]inside the house they're going to be shy to call me out

[41:44]or it's going to delay the process so i'm sitting here waiting

[41:48]to see who needs ali abner so that i can resolve their

[41:54]problems so i can assist them so i can aid them he

[41:57]says moments later a woman came running please help me my husband's

[42:03]going to divorce me he's going to beat me he's this he's

[42:05]that she's panicking sister what happened she says my husband told me

[42:10]if i arrive late he's going to divorce me and he's going

[42:13]to beat me he got up and he said he told himself

[42:26]now this is your time get up he himself the khalifa the

[42:32]commander-in-chief the most important man says take me to your home knocks

[42:39]at the door the man opens the door he says allah go

[42:42]inside you go inside he told her husband please forgive your wife

[42:49]she couldn't make it on time he said she's come with a

[42:55]foreign man i'm going to burn her who are you i'm going

[42:59]to burn her what is your relationship with her so some people

[43:03]passing by told him you fool you don't know who this is

[43:07]he says no i don't i told him this is ali this

[43:12]is so he fell at the feet of imam ali please forgive

[43:14]me i beg you there's that imam ali ibn abi talib told

[43:24]him a beautiful statement mesmerizing statement how can you not be ashamed

[43:37]of your own act in front of allah subhanahu wa do you

[43:40]not know that allah is watching you allah has a witness to

[43:46]your act imam ali was always ready always ready to serve people

[43:56]one day rasulullah was in a state of the article you know

[44:05]what atticaf is when you go inside the masjid for three days

[44:08]in the month of ramadan and you don't leave them as judah

[44:12]you spend the whole time in dua it's called the atikaf so

[44:16]he was in a state of atikaf a man comes to him

[44:21]this is how i want you to understand islam if until today

[44:28]you have it wrong i want you to change the way you

[44:31]think he comes to imam al-hasan he says to have me up

[44:35]not rasulullah i i'm indebted and the people are coming to my

[44:39]house and embarrassing me how much is it he tells the imam

[44:44]imam says allah i don't have the money to give you but

[44:47]i but the imam stood up he wore his shoes his companion

[44:53]told him did you forget you're tikaf because if you leave your

[44:57]atticaff's battle you can't leave and come back he says to him

[45:01]no of course i didn't forget i am an article but i

[45:04]heard my father say that rasool allah has said if i if

[45:10]a mu'min solves the problem of the of another mutman if a

[45:15]man aids another man he gets the thawab of 1 000 years

[45:22]of worship fasting every single day and praying the entire night so

[45:27]it's a no-brainer i'm going to go help this man this is

[45:33]islam i've seen many people i've seen many people masha'allah we have

[45:37]very wealthy people in our community wealthy people now it's no longer

[45:43]a competition about the millions the competition is about the tens of

[45:47]millions hundreds of millions and billions we have billionaires in our community

[45:54]we have people who have hundreds of millions of dollars tens of

[45:59]millions of dollars piled up and i want to speak to them

[46:05]a word from imam al-hussein from this member of imam al-hussein tonight

[46:13]a few words allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and suratil an aam chapter

[46:23]6 of the holy quran gives us a very beautiful picture very

[46:29]very beautiful picture mesmerizing it is the truth about our life the

[46:36]reality that we must face the ayah that i began my lecture

[46:39]with listen to this very quickly allah says and you have come

[46:47]to us singular as one when allah speaking of the day of

[46:53]judgment we're all alive none of us are dead when the quran

[47:00]was revealed it was speaking to people who read this ayah who

[47:03]were alive they weren't dead but allah says you have returned to

[47:08]us everybody is dead there was day of judgment now you have

[47:13]returned to us something that something which has not occurred yet right

[47:16]but allah says speaks of it in the past tense singular as

[47:24]one alone just like the day that you were born the day

[47:34]that you were born were you clothed were you wealthy were you

[47:41]famous did people know you did you have followers you were nothing

[47:47]you were nothing and you will return to allah has nothing let's

[47:57]pause here for a second brothers sisters death is real death is

[48:10]real the grave is real being alone in your grave is real

[48:19]being in need of your salah is real it's not some fictitious

[48:28]story we see it every single day of our lives and we

[48:31]go back to allah as one by ourselves the day that you

[48:36]were born you didn't have a name nobody knew you nobody cared

[48:41]for you the day that you go to allah also nobody cares

[48:43]this is the general this is a president this is a aalim

[48:49]this is this is an emperor nothing none of that it's you

[48:52]and your this is what makes you king on that day this

[48:58]is what makes you turns you into a prince on that day

[49:02]when we die at best if we have a grave a tombstone

[49:07]on our tombstone they write this is the grave of such and

[49:12]such aalam such and such emperor such and such president prime minister

[49:16]doctor professor on our tombstone but it doesn't follow us it stays

[49:22]there the millions of dollars the wealth that we have compiled stays

[49:25]here the moment israel comes and i see israel it's called the

[49:30]moment of when i see the next life that's it at that

[49:40]that that moment is your last moment you should have done it

[51:46]of others and we have many wealthy people in our community many

[51:56]people they leave the fortune for the for their children he leaves

[52:00]it for his inheritors he's created an empire for his kids and

[52:09]his grandkids and the grandkids of his grandkids that's knowing that as

[52:13]soon as he's pushed put in the grave moon karan nakira will

[52:16]ask about every penny how did you earn it how did you

[52:20]spend it how did you earn it how did you spend it

[52:23]brother think of yourself as well think of your achara think of

[52:28]your grave hadith says every day every single day this earth speaks

[56:26]if i don't pay those guys by 8 a.m they'll take my

[57:33]help from you we'll send them somewhere else this is others this

[57:39]is a blessing when someone if they don't ask what you know

[57:44]this is an amma that you know and you are aware and

[57:46]others aren't thank allah for this the hadith says if you don't

[57:52]take advantage of this will take it from you and give it

[57:55]to someone else it says you're no good for this job if

[57:58]you have the ability to erect a home for someone to take

[58:03]care of someone's debt do it this is from allah and the

[58:08]money is not going to decrease and helping others and the greatest

[58:14]form of helping others is also aiding the cause of ahilubates specifically

[58:20]imam al-hussein and believe me imam al-hussein does not need me or

[58:25]you or anybody or the entire earth he is rich he is

[58:28]wealthy he has it all but it's a form of solidarity with

[58:34]rasool allah to show our love for imam al-hussein don't be miserable

[58:43]with imam al-hussein don't hold back with imam al-hussein never hold back

[58:51]give because imam al-hussein will give you back in a thousand folds

[58:57]i have a friend who's doing very well masha allah very well

[59:02]he said say it would you like me to tell you why

[59:07]i'm so blessed business is always expanding for him masha allah he

[59:13]said say it because when i see people are in need when

[59:17]i want to give my donation when i want to give my

[59:20]gifts i wait until muharram then i go to people who i

[59:25]know are in debt this guy needs a car this guy needs

[59:26]a house this guy and i give them the money then and

[59:31]some people tell me well it's not aid what are you doing

[59:35]this is muharram says yes i know take this in the name

[59:41]of abu abdullah in honor of imam al-hussein this is the baraka

[59:44]of imam al-hussein believe me brothers and sisters there is nothing that

[59:48]will please your imam more than this and that's why imam al-hussein's

[59:54]got this man's back he's protecting him his family and his businesses

[60:04]and the reason why i see some people alive very honorable prestigious

[60:11]wealthy people successful people they fight over the ambassadors of imam al-hussein

[60:16]if there is a speaker a alim of imam hussain that comes

[60:20]to their town say we have to take care of we want

[60:24]to take care of him why because they want the barakah they're

[60:27]making a deal with imam al-hussein here's your muslim event we're taking

[60:31]care of him your muslim even is no longer going to be

[60:35]left alone people who take time out of their day they can

[60:41]go and hire the best restaurant to bring food for them but

[60:45]no they want to cook at home they want to break a

[60:49]sweat for imam hussain why because tomorrow they tell him we served

[60:57]you out of love nothing else it's not for sawab it's not

[61:10]for jannah it's not for anything else it is for the extreme

[61:13]love that i bear for you and how are we inspired through

[61:18]the years hundreds of years how are we inspired we are inspired

[61:24]by the companions of imam al-hussein tonight is dedicated the companions of

[61:38]imam al-hussein the shining stars at the camp of abu abdullah so

[61:43]many of them each one of them with the most inspirational story

[61:50]but the most honorable of them was habib the other day i

[62:00]was visiting imam al-hussein a man next to the grave of habib

[62:07]said something to me i broke into tears he's looked at the

[62:10]grave he said this man was honorable this man was so loyal

[62:16]and it hit me imagine a frail man in his 80s 90s

[62:23]at the time sahabi of rasulullah a person who recite the quran

[62:35]every single day imam al-hussein says i am a witness that in

[62:38]one day you would recite the quran the whole quran he was

[62:45]the master of his people he arrives to the camp of imam

[62:51]hussain when he arrives to the camp of imam hussain he's happy

[62:56]i made it alhamdulillah now with hussain a young boy comes into

[63:02]the tent he says men come which one of you is says

[63:15]i am your servant habib what is it that i can do

[63:23]for you he says my aunt zainab the daughter of allah sends

[63:28]her salams to you her salams to you habibi begins to cry

[63:34]he weeps he says who am i for zainab to send her

[63:36]salams to me yeah habib zainab has a message she tells you

[63:46]make sure that you stand with this lonely man with hussain a

[63:54]difficult day is approaching those were the sahaba imam al-hussein that is

[64:00]why the imam the assam when he speaks to those blessed are

[64:08]you blessed is the soil that you were buried in you received

[64:26]the grand victory another hadith in another tradition he says that may

[64:36]i be a sacrifice to you the same all of you tonight

[64:43]i know you desire you wish in your hearts that you were

[64:48]there on the tenth of so that when your imam came out

[64:53]of the tent and he raised his voice [Laughter] is there anyone

[65:22]you would stand you would stand and you would tell him i

[65:26]am here for you how can you go before me and i

[65:41]hear you brothers and sisters wherever you are inside outside at your

[65:44]homes in your living rooms in your cars wherever you are raise

[65:48]your voice tonight send it all the way to imam hussain imam

[66:03]brothers sisters with zainab with habib with the rest of the companions

[66:10]of imam al-hussein raise your voice release that voice for imam al

[66:15]hussein [Music] [Music] ah one more time all the way to karbala

[66:53][Applause] on the tenth of on the eve of the ninth of

[67:04]muharram is when those ashab demonstrated who they were who they really

[67:39]hussain one of them says ya abba abdullah of tomorrow they take

[67:44]me and they cut me into pieces and they burn me and

[67:48]they turn me into ashes and they give me back my life

[67:54]one thousand times i would gift it to ya about.

[67:56]and one another one of them was seen he went he fought

[68:03]he came back he went he fought he came back until he

[68:06]took off his shield he was running towards the enemies they told

[68:08]him ya abbas have you gone mad why did you take off

[68:13]your shield he says yes i have gone mad.

[68:21]the love of husain has taken away my sanity one after another

[68:28]they fell until this young man i want to tell you about

[68:31]this young man this young man he came to imam al-hussein he

[68:35]could not even carry us the sword the youngest of the shahada

[68:40]of the camp of imam al-hussein and he was wearing his helmet

[68:43]he was wearing his shield he came he stood in front of

[68:46]the tent he said to him i am here imam hussain looked

[68:51]at him he said this guy is a kid sent him back

[68:53]to his mother and his father has just been slain in front

[68:56]of his eyes i cannot see him go he goes back then

[69:03]his mother brings him she's holding on to his hand she brings

[69:08]him he she says to him what will i tell your mother

[69:15]fatima on the day of judgment will i tell him i protected

[69:21]my son while her son had no protection i beg you allow

[69:27]him to go this is my wish this young boy enters the

[69:34]battlefield what does he say look at this beautiful poetry he says

[69:46][Music] do you want to know who my commander is do you

[69:54]want to know who my mawla is do you want to know

[69:58]who i'm standing here in defense it is hussein and he is

[70:00]the best of commanders [Music] he was what gave joy to the

[70:18]heart of rasulallah you know anybody that's like hussain what did they

[70:35]do with this child sisters with the mother of this child i

[70:39]want you to raise your voice in your cries they killed him

[70:41]then they took his head and they threw it towards the camp

[70:46]of the woman all of us together before i hand it over

[70:58]to my respected brother hajinoori all of you together three times is

[71:57]we are so lucky all of us today extremely lucky and i'll

[72:04]tell you why when you hear these stories of muslims from some

[72:57]of them were full of joy they knew what would happen the

[73:03]next day they knew the horrors they would see but they were

[73:06]also enjoyed because what an honor it is to have the blessing

[73:10]to serve and die for america i tell you there are people

[73:16]in this world that will live and die without knowing the name

[73:21]for satan and we are so lucky to live and breathe the

[73:26]name hussain and to be here in this matter remembering hussein and

[73:30]saying and my poem today is dedicated to a man from the

[73:40]makta who comes in after the day of ashura after day of

[73:46]ashura the heads are paraded on the spears by the camp of

[73:50]ibn ziyat and they walk through sharm taking these women and imam

[73:55]sajad as prisoners and they stop at monasteries they ask the monk

[74:00]who's going this monastery if they can stay he says of course

[74:04]come in and he begins to stare at the severed heads in

[74:07]front of him it's as if he says who are these people

[74:09]and they say oh these people you know they're against the government

[74:14]they stood up they're criminals and he can't take his eyes off

[74:19]one head because he sees a pillar of light from this head

[74:22]to the heavens and he asked them may i take this head

[74:24]with me inside they tell me yes of course he pays them

[74:28]he takes the head with him and he asks this help in

[74:33]the name of jesus and the head begins to speak and he

[74:41]says i am son of rasulallah i am the son of ali

[74:46]i am the son of father i am the one who was

[74:52]killed thirsty i am the one who was killed alone i am

[74:56]the one who has killed the press and my message to that

[75:00]priest is how i wish the priest afterwards begins to draw the

[75:03]head of him how i wish the monk that drew your severed

[75:07]head if only he knew that beyond those 72 we all wish

[75:13]that we were with you how i wish the monk that drew

[75:19]your severed head if only he knew that beyond those 72 all

[75:37]as the head of hussein is raised upon a spear there are

[75:42]no hands to comfort gone guns are all of those held dear

[75:46]by zainab no abbas would appear over 72 dead bathed by the

[75:59]blood that was shed painted in dust that turned red as a

[76:03]way the captives are led and yet she stands veiled by piety

[76:08]a rose in ash in calamity as there's only one deity and

[76:15]with her one lord there are two things that were weighty the

[76:22]two-pronged sword made her worth mighty and with her two eyes she

[76:25]saw only beauty her brother taught and we all know that to

[76:32]no tyrant do we bow haida lives in her shadow as roses

[76:34]grow from her sorrow the eve of ashura as skies became dim

[76:41]zainab soldiers won what was within them habib status recites in him

[76:49]why why habib status recites in him because the queen of veil

[76:57]zainab she greeted him the queen of vail zainab she said [Applause]

[77:24]hussein stood there holding those letters from kufa hussein stood there holding

[77:33]those letters as beneath his feet the earth's core shatters who can

[77:39]help me his long tongue mutters is there anyone to help me

[77:45]his lone tongue mutters habib's corpse for a moment it flutters i

[77:51]wish i would but then my tongue stutters would i have really

[77:57]left my worldly matters would i have really left for hussain my

[78:02]worldly matters i am at war with myself could i have conquered

[78:09]myself and embraced death in itself or have left hussein by himself

[78:12]so i say that his calls echo and today my tears heed

[78:18]the calls of hussein echo and today my tears heed the grief

[78:24]in his soul it makes my tears bleed i am no captive

[78:27]with hussain i am freed so let my roads lead to where

[78:32]he would lead o needless one o allah i pray indeed allah

[78:38]make hussein's love my greatest deed because by the prayer for which

[78:42]he died by the death that to all lied by the battle

[78:47]cry that he cried how i wish that i were by his

[78:48]side so habib come back let's return again i have so many

[78:55]more with you that can soothe zaina's pain today millions for no

[78:59]worldly gain yearn that we that we yearn that we were there

[79:03]and to time we complain forget this world and forget its domain

[79:07]because we shall never forget our hussain forget that for which we

[79:11]have wept forget pain and forget debt forget what's lost and what's

[79:18]kept because hussein we will never forget because there is no living

[79:22]nor worth of living were out without for hussain weeping and grieving

[79:26]what a great love so captivating daily and yet his day we're

[79:31]all we're living and yet he is still giving and giving we

[79:35]believe and we shall keep believing we believe and we shall keep

[79:44]believing hussein don't let those eyes weep your companions we aren't asleep

[79:49]the seeds of your love we reap and your story our tears

[79:55]shall keep so tell that monk who holds your severed head tell

[79:59]that monk who hold your severed head that more are coming to

[80:04]die in your stead to karbala millions are yelled to karbala millions

[80:11]are led not yearning life but yearning death instead oh beloved our

[80:17]hussein don't go far ahead with your severed head let our heads

[80:23]be behead no your day is not a day it's today not

[80:30]yesterday know that our hairs become gray wishing that we were there

[80:34]upon that day know that our hairs become gray wishing that we

[80:38]were there upon that day so foreign you
