[0:00]tasty hasty level of being driven you're going to meet him so

[0:10]when one thinks about that moment that you're actually standing in front

[0:15]of Allah just imagine yourself right now just take a second close

[0:21]your eyes and the next time you open your eyes you will

[0:23]see Allah in front of you whatever you imagine Allah to be

[0:29]what would that be how would you feel in the Quran States

[0:43]of what did we do we opened up your eyes today the

[1:08]veils have been moved the reason why I'm beginning with this because

[1:11]discipline has two sides this discipline is being able to say yes

[1:15]to the right things and no to the wrong things I remember

[1:22]I walked up onto my parents porch I was sitting down with

[1:29]my brother my brother's Bassam we're sitting outside and we're talking normal

[1:38]day you don't know what's going to happen in the next couple

[1:44]hours you have no idea my mom's inside my mom is sick

[1:54]she's not doing well so those moments I remember vividly something called

[2:03]emotional memory which is tagged by the amygdala that side of your

[2:06]brain those events don't let you go they're imprinted into your mind

[2:11]you will not forgive them forget them so we're talking outside all

[2:18]of a sudden we walk inside my mom is laying there you

[2:28]still don't know what's happening it's just a normal day we come

[2:33]up me and my brother sit down we're having a conversation my

[2:35]brother my other brother comes and my other brother comes my brother

[2:40]Hassam is here so now my brother Hassan he comes in and

[2:49]he says he looks at my mom she doesn't look right and

[2:56]he checks her he's in the medical field and what happens he

[3:02]says she doesn't look right so now your heart starts to move

[3:07]the heart starts to move there's fear something is happening so on

[3:17]that level all you can sense something is changing that moment it's

[3:22]coming towards you you cannot remove yourself from that what are you

[3:27]going to do in that moment there's nothing that you can do

[3:31]and my brother says I think she may pass and I remember

[3:39]that so what did I do I put my hand under her

[3:45]head and all I can say was Muhammad or Ali Muhammad that's

[3:51]all I can do now why am I sharing this with you

[3:55]I'm sharing this with you because we're all going to be in

[4:01]that moment so that discipline that you need to have to be

[4:04]able to hold back when the Temptation comes when your anger arises

[4:10]how do you hold back how do you have that mental muscle

[4:15]to tell the self no well it says whoever forbids the self

[4:24]from regressive desires that person stops at that moment and says you

[4:30]know what I'm not going there I'm not going to do that

[4:32]ow that's not an easy thing when the Temptation sometimes has great

[4:38]taste to you but let's say you habitually now built that into

[4:44]your system where your habit is stronger than you that battle when

[4:49]it comes let's say you're sitting down and you're by yourself you

[4:54]have your cell phone you get an ad something happens you get

[4:58]a physical reaction temptation who's stronger who's stronger you or your Temptations

[5:11]and that moment you know what your character is in that moment

[5:17]you will realize if I'm really moving towards dignity honor respect or

[5:24]humiliation my own self-dignity my self-respect is at stake so now tonight

[5:32]I just want to open it up to is is please be

[5:36]as as much as you can open up just talk we'll have

[5:41]a I want it to be more of an interactive discussion and

[5:45]let's just open things up and see what happens now I'm going

[5:50]to say a few more things and then we'll go from there

[5:54]so I'm going to take you on a psychological level and a

[5:58]biology level so in the mind there's something called the as as

[6:05]you're actually let's say you get a apple or candy bar how

[6:10]many of you would choose the Apple candy bar okay so most

[6:16]of you would choose the candy bar why we got two hands

[6:23]up why is the candy bar so tasty yes sugar of course

[6:27]are you sugar monster okay very good okay so now there's something

[6:32]tempting you there's something in your brain okay and it's it's there's

[6:38]a part of your brain and it's it's the in the prefrontal

[6:42]cortex okay the ventral medial prefrontal cortex when it lights up when

[6:50]they put you under a f on my or fmri scanner what

[6:52]happens in your brain when you see the sugar you know what

[6:57]happens that part of your brain just lights up now there's another

[7:04]part of your brain that's under the control system that's the control

[7:08]center of the brain that doesn't light up there's actually a battle

[7:16]in the brain different parts of the brain are activated by different

[7:23]stimuli so the ventral medial cortex is this what your willpower your

[7:26]strength that lights up so for people who have self-control you know

[7:33]what happens they can resist you know when they resist that part

[7:36]of the brain actually lights up the person who that when they

[7:42]see the candy the ventral medial part of the brain what that

[7:47]means the ventral is the lower medial is in the middle of

[7:52]the brain the ventral dorsal part of the brain is more upper

[7:56]but it's still what I'm sorry ventral lateral it's on the outside

[8:01]of the brain medial middle lateral on the outside two different parts

[8:08]of the brain are actually what going at each other so now

[8:12]the person who can resist that part of the brain will actually

[8:16]that person has self-control that part of the brain lights up when

[8:21]they fail you know what happens when they give into temptation that

[8:27]part still lights up the other side the person who doesn't have

[8:31]that kind of control when they see the candy and when they

[8:36]don't see the candy that part of the brain is a lot

[8:40]it's not active so you're building yourself every decision you make every

[8:47]every right now you all of you made a decision to come

[8:49]I'm gonna come to the Masjid I don't care who's here I'm

[8:54]gonna come for myself you made a decision that decision has a

[8:59]benefit it has a benefit to you every small little decision you

[9:05]are wiring yourself you're wiring yourself to either become better or become

[9:08]worse now I'm just going to give you something here then we're

[9:11]going to enter a different level how does a habit wire itself

[9:16]into your brain you think you have control do you really think

[9:22]you have control how many of you think you have control none

[9:28]of you I have some kind of control something okay none of

[9:34]you okay some kind of control how much control do you think

[9:37]out of 10 decisions you make how much control do you think

[9:39]you have somebody throw out some numbers to me one more oh

[9:47]for nine okay nine four eight okay two that's the candy monster

[9:57]Okay so I just want you to understand here's the way a

[10:01]habit works so every time you actually wire yourself every time you

[10:07]do something you're just a bunch of magnets on the inside a

[10:11]bunch of this electricity so what happens inside of your brain every

[10:16]time you fire an Iran there's a neuron that goes off in

[10:20]your brain just an electrical signal that turns into a chemical signal

[10:25]that's how you're wired that's how Allah has programmed you so now

[10:28]when that happens you fire at once you fire it again and

[10:33]again and again it starts off with the front side of your

[10:36]brain in the frontal cortex now what happens is it starts to

[10:41]move the more you do it okay it starts to move from

[10:43]the front of your brain to the back of your brain from

[10:47]there it goes from that right side it crosses over on the

[10:51]bridge which is called the corpus callosum and then from there it

[10:54]goes to where the left side of the brain so it moves

[10:59]over then it starts moving back and it starts to use less

[11:05]and less and less tissue now that little mechanism in your brain

[11:09]is no longer underneath your control it's now subconscious you just wired

[11:20]yourself that little mechanism is no longer underneath your control now it's

[11:25]just a suggestion based on an outside trigger so when that comes

[11:29]to you you know what happens there's something from the outside now

[11:32]you're walking in the in the store and you said one right

[11:35]what's your name brother parsa okay so now my brother is coming

[11:42]he's in the store what's your favorite candy Twix I I like

[11:49]I like Twix too okay so what what is it about Twix

[11:54]that you like The Taste okay so now let me give you

[11:56]something about the taste there's also the part of the frontal cortex

[12:01]so on in The Taste when they actually measure this kind of

[12:05]there's one particular neuron there's particular neurons in your brain that actually

[12:08]are wired to this taste so now when you see that what

[12:13]do you think is going to happen when you see now you're

[12:15]walking along and you just see the brand of Twix What do

[12:19]you think is going to happen what's that what is it you're

[12:25]going to enjoy so watch this what happens when you just visually

[12:30]see it it actually engages the dopaminergic system the dopamine is actually

[12:38]released prior to the taste because dopamine is about motivation so you

[12:42]know what's happening to you once you see the brand just by

[12:47]seeing it it's already releasing what the dopamine you're being driven to

[12:51]it now do you think that suggestion is underneath your control it's

[12:57]not because now what you're going to do is you're going to

[12:59]think about it and you're going to think about the taste and

[13:01]now your mouth starts to salivate correct and do you think you're

[13:08]going to reach into your pocket and pay for it do you

[13:10]think you're actually underneath that control a lot of times we're not

[13:18]we're not now the person who's strong is the person who stands

[13:23]and says you know what I'm not going to do that I'm

[13:27]not the most who can give me one thing that is take

[13:34]a guess of what is the most powerful antidote stop the self

[13:40]from doing wrong smoking that's a powerful habit okay what can stop

[13:48]someone from smoking what is give me one way that you can

[13:54]literally have some people when they what happens when you when you

[13:59]let's say a smoker what's that fear of fear how many of

[14:11]us really have fear these days do we really are we really

[14:20]afraid why do you think I'd be I began with that first

[16:16]brain as Muhammad is walking up here Muhammad was negotiating with himself

[16:19]before raising his hand and he said to himself you know should

[16:23]I do this should I not do this I don't know what

[16:25]he's going to do to me but he volunteered he stood up

[16:30]am I correct yes okay so what made you get up Muhammad

[16:34]I like to push past my country okay [Applause] so he pushed

[16:48]past his fear that fear now was going to grab you it's

[16:52]going to talk to you and it's gonna say you know what

[16:54]Muhammad don't go up there now who else will volunteered and come

[16:58]up here who's got some guts okay now everybody wants to come

[17:05]up okay so whenever you get that chance push yourself push yourself

[17:12]past that fear why because you need that courage now the ultimate

[17:21]fear that will stop you from doing anything my brother said that

[17:29]zikr of Allah what does that mean does anybody please give me

[17:35]what what is God remembrance mean to you what does that mean

[17:39]s it's a beautiful beautifully stated abstaining from something that is it's

[17:46]guarding you it's holding you back and saying don't move don't go

[17:52]after that hold why why would you hold go ahead if you

[18:02]have punishment okay beautiful why why else beauty of God these are

[18:13]such beautiful things when you give me to reflect at a different

[18:18]level with them when Nabi Yusuf was in the quarters and zulekha

[18:30]tempted him she said to him Yusuf was known to be very

[18:41]beautiful and you can literally say he's beautiful and he's a man

[18:43]but you could tell he's beautiful because masha'allah like if women start

[18:47]cutting their fingers as they're chopping this is masha'allah okay so she

[18:53]tempts him now what does the prophet Allah say does anybody know

[19:04]the verse he says one thing he says I fear who that's

[19:15]God consciousness that is God Consciousness that's Allah at work he says

[19:26]Allah has made his remembrance when you remember Allah in that moment

[19:32]an Enlightenment for the heart meaning your heart begins to open and

[19:39]you see things differently now I want to get to a point

[19:43]but I'm not going to go there for now I want to

[19:46]explain to you what taqwa is but I'm hoping it would happen

[19:48]in a discussion there are three levels to taqwa we are all

[20:00]masha'allah believers and we have this drive to want to be in

[20:06]front of Allah and say wow they gave me my book in

[20:10]my right hand not in my left but how do we get

[20:15]to this level how do we get to this place okay I'm

[20:18]going to give you five quick things then we'll move past how

[20:21]how should we conduct ourselves what should we do on a daily

[20:28]level okay five steps okay anybody gonna write them down so if

[20:33]I come next week and you're here and I ask you do

[20:38]you have these five steps you're gonna be like man yeah come

[20:40]on man I got you so you can pull out your phones

[20:46]now if you want to masha'allah everybody Masha wow Muhammad okay these

[20:58]things information shouldn't stay in other people's minds or in books you

[21:04]need to download it and utilize it you need to use it

[21:06]the Quran is a book that needs to be downloaded the Quran

[21:10]has an algorithm for your algorithm download it talk to it understand

[21:18]it it will lead you it will open up things in your

[21:21]heart that you have no idea exist it will talk to you

[21:26]at a different level but do you have a relationship with the

[21:28]Quran I'm telling you it's an algorithm it has an algorithm Allah

[21:35]knows your algorithm so now he knows what to give you so

[21:40]now first step it's the person who's constantly watching themselves why should

[21:51]I do that why should I watch my actions why how do

[21:57]I stop myself from doing things if I don't go back and

[22:01]actually watch myself I'm watching myself constantly and I'm taking a list

[22:10]here's a list of things I've done every day I reflect on

[22:16]it and I want I do that first step second step what

[22:24]is that accounting to take account let's say I did something wrong

[22:30]I'm looking at my schedule and now I did something wrong then

[22:33]I asked myself why did I do that is the second step

[22:42]third step I've committed the sin I've done something wrong I don't

[22:50]like myself I don't like what I'm doing with my life I

[22:53]did something that I shouldn't did I said something to my dad

[22:58]my friends went out and I followed and I did something extremely

[23:04]and I posted that on social media my dad saw it and

[23:08]now he's coming after me with a stick okay so now I

[23:15]when this happens I've committed the sin some of us at this

[23:18]stage it doesn't mean much the prophet sallallahu alaihi he says he

[23:29]says commits a sin it's like a mountain on his shoulders commits

[23:37]a sin it's like he's pushing away what a fly of of

[23:44]his nose doesn't matter that weight that emotional weight is not there

[23:49]I'm not connected it doesn't matter I mess around it doesn't matter

[23:54]I take Life as a joke it doesn't matter I don't remember

[23:56]any it doesn't matter to me nothing that I don't have any

[24:02]fear nothing matters to me so now the third step is feeling

[24:07]that weight it's called the person who starts to feel the emotional

[24:14]weight of that sin I don't want to do that the fourth

[24:20]step is this is now when you know the sin you've done

[24:31]the wrong you feel bad about it you go to listen to

[24:39]the Dua you've got to come and you say you hear Imam

[24:45]Ali salaam and he says a repentance that you don't go back

[24:57]that is the heavy weight of the heart so that's the first

[25:03]fourth step you go back and forth against yourself and you tell

[25:09]yourself no the fifth step is where you continue you fight the

[25:16]self you win and now you sustain you create a good habit

[25:21]not a diseased habit you create a good habit it's a tool

[25:27]now and it aids you so now when you're weak a girl

[25:31]sends you a picture and you're like Ya Allah God help me

[25:34]she's so beautiful I can't Ya Allah why did you create such

[25:40]beauty I can't but you're like you remember Yusuf alaihi salaam you're

[25:51]like I got this guys I am Yusuf himself so you resist

[26:02]I'll just share a quick story with you and I'll just transition

[26:06]to the discussion I was I was on a call I was

[26:12]talking to to one of my clients and I get this strange

[26:16]call from someone and I just decided to answer I'm like okay

[26:22]I'll just answer I answered I don't know why I answered I

[26:26]just answered he's like I need to talk to you I said

[26:31]who's this is like so-and-so I don't I'm sorry I didn't remember

[26:37]who the person was so I said to him is there anything

[26:41]he could do for you are you okay and he's like yes

[26:44]yes please I just I was just watching something and it was

[26:46]one of your lectures I go okay did I say something wrong

[26:53]he's like he's like no no he goes I'm sitting there and

[26:57]I wanted to text this girl and as I'm doing my homework

[27:04]she texts me and I want to text her back and as

[27:08]I was doing doing my assignment I'm also listening to your lecture

[27:13]and as I pick up the phone part of your lecture you

[27:18]start to talk about what how not to text women in the

[27:25]wrong way and the guy freaked out he literally freaked out okay

[27:30]now why am I saying this to you am I saying oh

[27:34]look at me no I don't care at the end of the

[27:38]day when Allah wants to talk to you the signs are all

[27:42]there they're all in front of you but you choose to turn

[27:44]away so he said so I asked him so what are you

[27:49]going to do he's like no I don't know man I really

[27:52]like her see look Temptation you see it he does look he's

[27:58]going back and forth Muhammad was going what back and forth do

[28:01]I get up do I not get up think of Horror and

[28:05]he's going back and forth his whole life his eternity is relying

[28:14]on that decision one Decision One decision and his what his his

[28:19]partner the person next to him he says to him he says

[28:23]I know you're you're a warrior why do I see you perplexed

[28:29]why he says I'm choosing between Heaven and Hell what a decision

[28:39]now I want to ask you one quick question do you think

[28:45]probably his his feet were six to eight inches away from his

[28:52]horse the back of his heel was six to eight inches about

[28:56]this far away that distance can you move your foot that distance

[29:01]when your life is on the line imagine how far that distance

[29:07]is mentally if you're not ready in that moment to make that

[29:10]kind of decision do you think you're going to be able to

[29:13]do that do you think you have that kind of Will and

[29:14]ability just to move your feet six inches do you think that's

[29:21]an easy decision to make we hear it every day in karbala

[29:28]every year we hear it over and over do you think that

[29:30]decision is easy because you're going back and forth he's choosing between

[29:36]what Heaven and Hell but the heart is ready because it's trained

[29:42]to say no I'm not going to do that and when Muhammad

[29:47]got up he says I am and I'm not afraid and I

[29:53]stand here's my character the weight of Who You Are is your

[30:00]discipline you want to see someone's character look at the positions they

[30:07]take and how strong they are when they stand so when Muhammad

[30:09]came up here my brother came up here that's not an easy

[30:15]decision because you're choosing to what engage I'm not afraid the heart

[30:21]is intact and it's moving forward so let's all become like horror

[30:26]but make sure that you're not on the wrong side and you

[30:30]don't end up on the wrong side that you have to make

[30:34]that kind of decision work train the heart so it's an easy

[30:39]decision when you're wasting your time don't do that I know smile

[30:48]is my nephew right here and he was in the Quran competition

[30:54]and I was helping him one day and I'm just looking at

[30:57]him and he's working so hard he's working hard and he's trying

[31:03]to remember the verse after verse after verse I said man how

[31:06]beautiful is this I swear to you that has a taste it

[31:11]has a taste just like your Mariam where are you you're enjoying

[31:14]the candy okay the Quran has a sweet taste I swear to

[31:19]you it has such a beautiful taste it's alive it will talk

[31:24]to you talk to it just hold it I swear to you

[31:29]put it next to your heart and say Allah help me help

[31:31]me understand this I don't know I don't know how to read

[31:38]it help me understand it that's the taste you want when you

[31:43]do that and your heart becomes to connect to that you won't

[31:48]have to make these harsh decisions because you'll be in the right

[31:52]place because your discipline is intact and you've been able to tell

[31:56]the self no I'm not going to do that so on that

[32:00]level I want one of you to come up here and restate

[32:08]everything that I just said who has that kind of guts okay

[32:18]that but you see it's it's okay but do you see now

[32:24]it's it's when the challenge comes it's not easy to stand up

[32:27]it's not now why is it hard to come up here because

[32:31]your competence is on the line people are going to judge your

[32:33]competence and your competence is one of the core parts of your

[32:40]identity that's why people get scared to come up and be in

[32:45]front of a camera and trust me the first time I came

[32:48]up here the back of my knees were sweating I was shaking

[32:53]it was terrifying no no that's why I was going to transition

[33:16]it's been to my experience in my lifetime that the accumulation of

[33:21]marginal gains these compounded through the power of time leads to great

[33:26]success and Great accomplishments yes very true and I was wondering because

[33:34]I as we know habits are both a double-edged sword they caught

[33:37]for you and they caught dangerous happened yes and I was reflecting

[33:47]upon the most powerful habit one could partake in his son true

[33:54]and uh so I was reflecting in the manner which Allah has

[34:01]prescribed Salah to them in sin all of the word prescribed yes

[34:08]you know and why it was ordained in such a manner in

[34:14]five times a day strict times and uh overalls ordained over a

[34:23]lifetime is this marginal gains does your Salah get better even just

[34:30]the way you stand from the way you when you start someone

[34:33]you end is this part of the reason Allah has prescribed it

[34:38]in such a manner okay um that's a beautiful question so the

[34:41]question is why did Allah azzawajal prescribe Salah in such a way

[34:48]so I'm repeating so people online and by the way Jihad if

[34:55]you're watching that's out to you okay now in the Quran States

[34:57]so go back to the Quran right away this is why you

[35:02]should what talk to the Quran it says in the Quran says

[35:14]he says prayer has been ordained or prescribed to you at fixed

[35:22]times why would Allah prescribed fixed times right now let's say fought

[35:30]me one and two okay one of you has surgery tomorrow and

[35:37]it's life or death are you going to miss that meeting you're

[35:42]not going to miss that meeting why because it has a high

[35:48]level of value every Prophet died saying assalam why is Salah so

[35:58]prominent why does Allah azzawajal want us to pray every single day

[36:02]okay okay I unders I did it once twice three four times

[36:10]why what is Salah what is in Salah establish prayer so you

[36:16]can remember what Allah so if you remember Allah what happens to

[36:22]the heart we said Imam in Allah now watch this so number

[36:33]one he established it at six times number two is now that's

[36:40]that's Salah okay forces you to remember who Allah azzawajal I'm in

[36:48]I'm going to work do I remember Allah no I'm in the

[36:53]state of I hear that what do I remember I go back

[36:58]to Allah I go back to the path so Salah is to

[37:03]engage you with Allah now what happens when you are engaged with

[37:07]Allah and you start moving away from the world this is an

[37:15]Enlightenment for the heart foreign the core of Islam is your prayer

[37:36]you go anywhere in the world watch somebody praying who is a

[37:44]Muslim you're going to know they're praying now what happens Imam Ali

[37:50]goes further what happens when you establish prayer and let me give

[37:54]you something to establish prayer a lot of us pray everybody in

[37:56]here prays I know everybody prays and if you don't pray and

[38:00]you miss some prayers you're gonna go pray tonight okay and if

[38:04]you pray you're going to praise Allah and you're going to remember

[38:07]me as one of those 40 guys please remember I need it

[38:10]okay so on that level I'm going to give you three things

[38:16]what is the difference between somebody who establishes to establish a prayer

[38:20]and somebody who doesn't establish prayer okay in the Quran it says

[38:27]surely this prayer removes this indecency how how does Salah affect your

[38:36]behavior a lot of us okay I'm gonna ask one of you

[38:38]come up here and pray okay there's no effect most of us

[38:49]take Salah like that there's no cause and effect in Salah but

[38:54]you know I want to give you something quick point do you

[38:57]know we're gonna you're gonna feel the effect of Salah if you

[38:59]don't pray and the effect of your sins is when the soul

[39:04]separates from the body that's when you feel it you're going to

[39:08]feel the weight then all the things you did negatively and all

[39:11]the things you feel you did positively that's when you're gonna feel

[39:14]it it's that separation I'm not going to get into that too

[39:21]far but now Watch What Happens when does Salah affect your actions

[39:27]your behavior the way you conduct yourself number one to be able

[39:30]to get it to do that pray on time that's number one

[39:36]number two pray with Joshua number three the extra prayers you do

[39:46]those three things Salah will begin to affect your actions and your

[39:49]decisions now that's a side note what what happens with the heart

[39:59]expands and now there's enlightenment continues with Hadith he says he hears

[40:03]past his deafness he hears past his he sees past his blindness

[40:08]and his heart will submit and obey so you get gifts Allah

[40:25]the exact same thing that Imam Ali is talking about Hadith it's

[40:30]in the Quran but there's a covering over the heart now why

[40:33]is it difficult for a person to pray this is the hardness

[40:39]of the heart you want to know how close you are to

[40:40]Allah see how well you're connected to your Salah bottom line when

[40:49]it's time to pray and it's Allahu Akbar or Playstation or my

[40:57]phone or anything else that I'm doing and I prefer that action

[41:01]no I'm telling Allah it's okay you're on the side for right

[41:05]now I'm gonna do something else that means your heart needs work

[41:09]you need to work on yourself your Salah needs to take a

[41:13]higher level so that's why Allah made you pray five times a

[41:15]day so you could practice imagine you went to work out five

[41:20]times a day well each one of you guys will walk in

[41:21]here you won't even you have muscle upon muscle but that Salah

[41:26]is designed to build this mental muscle that's Allah is the mental

[41:29]muscle it's the brakes you hit the brakes before you commit the

[41:36]sin that is your Salah when you stand and you say no

[41:41]uh as an example Imam Hussain in the middle of battle Allah

[41:50]in the middle of battle karbala is a university you can learn

[41:57]so much from it Imam Hassan stops the whole thing he stops

[42:03]and they pray what a test do you think any of us

[42:08]would want to be in that test do you think anyone would

[42:10]even pass that test now I'm going to finish with this in

[42:14]terms of Salah you expand imagine you get to this point and

[42:22]my sister's here it says we've inspired the heart of the mother

[42:46]of Musa and suckle him and if you are afraid how many

[42:52]of you how many guys right here that's a woman want to

[42:54]talk about women here's women the heart doesn't have a gender Iman

[43:00]doesn't have a gender it doesn't this is the heart of a

[43:56]and power of Prayer prayer that's your flashlight and then you can

[44:02]hit the brakes when you need to and you can watch hit

[44:05]the gas when you need to and you can kick your horse

[44:09]and you can go acrossalam so I hope that answers to the

[45:12]so that constant praying every day it's the training mechanism and it

[45:20]evolves what are you evolving it's to be able to be God

[45:22]conscious as much as you can in your Salah and then when

[45:29]you're like that imagine you have an affinity to want to be

[45:31]Institute you just want to be in sujit now I'll give you

[45:38]a challenge Ramadan is coming up correct how many of you can

[45:46]resist praying or the food before you pray okay all right so

[45:50]everybody in this room everyone when the first day of Ramadan just

[45:53]do it for one day the first day the food is there

[45:58]and as the hardest day usually the first day is Father's Day

[46:00]everyone here you have to promise me hold your hand up everybody

[46:05]hold your hand up okay we're gonna do a covenant right I

[46:09]promise say so you've got to repeat I promise you Sam that

[46:15]I will on the first day of Ramadan I will pray before

[46:22]before I eat and I will feel what I need to feel

[46:30]in my heart towards my Salah okay and not the food that's

[46:44]Salah like you enjoy your food that's why I tell you Salah

[46:51]has a taste it has a taste Iman has a taste so

[46:54]you're all you want to do is just build that and Salah

[46:58]is your opportunity to build that you build yourself through your Salah

[47:04]so on that level I hope you guys understand the power of

[47:13]that because Salah is your character when you have to pray and

[47:17]it's a it's an airport or it's on a plane or it

[47:21]doesn't matter you remember Imam Hussain he's in the middle of battle

[47:23]and you say you know what I'm gonna find a way I'm

[47:27]gonna pray that's discipline that is discipline and the more discipline you

[47:34]have in terms of these kinds of things my God what you

[47:38]could do when your intention and your discipline is towards Allah it's

[47:42]incredible what you can do now who wants to show us some

[47:49]courage foreign but so guys give me something that you guys think

[48:01]would be like like something a story a concept something you did

[48:09]about discipline let me ask you guys a question anything you feel

[48:13]like you it's it's part of discipline give me a quranic verse

[52:37]beautiful habit you can get some really good land impair you can

[54:10]you number one the first stage of taqwa is to stay away

[54:16]from the bigger sins that's the first stage what's what are some

[54:23]of the bigger sins somebody give me some of the bigger sins

[54:25]correct the sins are they the Sarat or no when we commit

[54:34]to sin are we on the right path we're not so Allah

[54:39]has given us the rules if you want to know the path

[54:42]what is Allah saying to you follow my rules hijab where hijab

[54:49]pray on time fast follow the rules I've prescribed it to you

[54:58]but a lot of us you know hijab it's not in the

[55:05]Quran doesn't say it sounds I'm not making fun of anybody I

[55:09]swear to you I have my own struggles too but at the

[55:15]end of the day we justify these things okay so now what

[55:18]happens here is extremely important I go into the religion with full

[55:24]understanding that I'm submitting to it I'm not picking and choosing what

[55:32]I want what are the bigger sins anybody give me the bigger

[55:36]sins give me go ahead smite drugs okay doing drugs bigger sin

[55:41]go ahead brother speak up speak up manly what is it coffin

[55:48]beautiful go ahead back biting beautiful more genocide very good brother hardcore

[56:08]on lying lying lying is the big sin it's literally one of

[56:18]the khabar so lying when you lie every time you lie Allah

[56:21]promises every time you commit a sin of the kabair Allah promises

[56:31]Hellfire you will touch Hellfire for the khabar so every time you

[56:37]lie you manipulate the truth you swing around things you think you're

[56:41]getting away with something you know what you're doing to your heart

[56:45]man you're playing a dangerous game especially when this thing begins to

[56:49]lie say the truth for you or against you say the truth

[56:55]now how do you get away from the bigger sins masoha so

[57:06]Allah says in the Quran says stay away from the bigger sins

[57:10]how how do you remove the bigger sins does anybody know the

[57:14]verse I just said it what is that what does that mean

[57:18]anybody know repent with a sincere repentance be sincere do not go

[57:26]back to the sin that's how you remove that now Allah gives

[57:30]you a two for one deal watch this it's on sale anybody

[57:39]this Allah promises you he says he says on he says if

[57:51]you stay away from the bigger ones the bigger sins the major

[57:55]sins you know what I'll do I'll take away your minor ones

[58:00]too two for one deal why not smaller sins when you say

[58:04]oof to your parents and they're older somebody says salaam alaikum you

[58:10]don't reply these are small sins smaller he's Allah says I'll remove

[58:14]those two now the second level of taqwa so the first level

[58:19]is staying away from the bigger sins all of us are going

[58:23]to stay away both hands up like this okay I promise I'm

[58:27]just in Salah and you were on the floor and you were

[58:32]begging Allah please forgive me I feel so bad that time between

[58:38]Monday and Friday that's Toba you get Azure for that so don't

[58:44]if you commit to sin and you go back it's okay it's

[58:49]okay go back and say talk to Allah don't feel so hard

[58:54]with yourself talk to him tell him where the pain is tell

[58:58]them what's wrong and cry with the sincere part of your heart

[59:03]so first level stay away from the bigger sins we're all going

[59:08]to do that right from now on to the way day we

[59:11]die none of you here is going to commit a bigger sin

[59:13]again right should I hold my hand up or we're good okay

[59:16]all right so on that level that's the first line second level

[59:23]is this the second level is you stay away from the minor

[59:25]sins this is called teskia but you stay on that path is

[59:34]now when you want you're purifying the self and you stay away

[59:40]from the bigger sins and the minor sins third step this is

[59:44]where it really gets good guys just take this with you Allah

[59:48]gives you some gifts if you can stay away what if you

[59:53]can stay away from the major sins and the minor sins here's

[59:56]what Allah gives you and this is going back to what we're

[60:04]saying you start establishing prayer Hassan and now you start Salah begins

[60:10]to affect your actions and now you come upon a Temptation and

[60:13]you sell to yourself you tell yourself no I'm not going to

[60:17]do that and it's a bigger sin and I stay away from

[60:21]it and then I walk a little bit and I see a

[60:24]minor sin and I also stay away from it because I'm what

[60:29]remembering God Allah is with me now he's in between me and

[60:33]my heart and I'm maneuvering then I remember I feel like I'm

[60:41]doing the right things and I'm moving Allah begins to give you

[60:50]things he uses two verses What in Bismillah let me start for

[60:59]there is this when you have the stopwatch and you're doing all

[61:09]these things and you're walking on the right path Allah begins to

[61:12]give you things first gift your eyes will open and you can

[61:20]see what others cannot see Allah will give you the binoculars in

[61:25]the middle of the night the night vision goggles for your heart

[61:30]the person next to you is blind they cannot see but you

[61:34]will be able to see I promise you you will be able

[61:39]to see that's the first gift Allah opens up the heart and

[61:42]then you can see the eye of the heart sees not this

[61:47]naked eye that's the first level that's the first gift second gift

[61:51]Allah Maharaja second what is that if you are God conscious Allah

[62:01]will allow you to come out of certain difficult things that you're

[62:05]going through that's the second gift that he doesn't allow things to

[62:14]happen to you Imam it's that when somebody does fitna against you

[62:21]Allah will give you a way out from your even your own

[62:26]fit on the inside that's the second gift so now you have

[62:31]the night vision goggles and you look out and you can see

[62:35]then the second gift is Allah highlights the path for you if

[62:41]there's a million doors that door will literally say Right Above It

[62:43]choose this one you will be able to see it while everybody

[62:48]else is blind you will be able to see it and the

[62:52]third gift is this the result what does that means you have

[63:08]calmness in your heart where others will be fearful you will have

[63:14]calmness you look out in the middle of the night you're in

[63:16]a forest your friend is terrified you have the night vision goggles

[63:21]you look out to you can see Allah highlights the path for

[63:26]you but as you're walking the path your friend is fearful you're

[63:32]not so Allah gives you three gifts the path he shows you

[63:41]the path and while you're walking the path he allows your heart

[63:44]to be what calm you're not afraid and my brother Muhammad will

[63:49]walk up here he doesn't care my sister doesn't matter I'm calm

[63:55]nothing can trigger the heart but it all starts with what the

[64:00]discipline of your Salah work on that sound good unless everybody's like

[64:07]that Allah I put a very somber mood right okay but this

[64:10]is when you talk about Allah find places where Allah is mentioned

[64:15]constantly don't put yourself in places or around people Who removed you

[64:21]from the thicker of Allah that's why it's so beautiful to come

[68:44]best in Deeds so it's to see which of you can want

[68:47]do the best Deeds bottom line so on that level Allah creates

[68:55]a challenge but now can somebody tell me who are your first

[68:57]your first challenge what was your first challenge in your life that's

[69:02]right getting over my anger okay masha'allah is doing the character development

[70:53]that's not fair to the baby why would Allah do that to

[70:56]the baby have you ever seen a baby just go in the

[70:59]corner and say Allah quit call us I don't I don't do

[71:04]this anymore it's way too much I'm trying the balance and it's

[71:07]just not working you know leave me alone I don't want to

[71:11]do this anymore have you ever seen that did you do that

[71:12]when you were younger no you didn't man but but at the

[71:17]end of the day okay you were resilient and you stepped up

[71:21]why is Allah's challenge to hurt you or to Aid you why

[71:30]is it to Aid you why would the challenge be there to

[71:35]Aid you because what happens when the baby actually learns how to

[71:39]walk it gains a tool to take on life through the challenge

[71:44]do you see it so when I learn how to walk I

[71:49]actually gain the next tool for me to move to the next

[71:54]level and now I have to take on level two then it

[71:56]keeps growing and growing and growing and then one day Muhammad is

[72:01]in where he's in the MBA and he's looking at LeBron James

[72:06]and they're like Hamad your face is full of light Masha Allah

[73:15]responsibility is not for everybody just like that level of responsibility when

[73:21]you took your first breath that's your first start not many of

[73:26]us end up in that level to take on that kind of

[73:32]responsibility so Allah through the challenges gives you tools so you can

[73:38]elevate so you can go to the highest form of your own

[73:43]perfection and then you can Ahmad will be he takes the shot

[73:47]and it takes like 30 seconds to go into a slow motion

[73:51]and everything's gonna and then pamad's like this turns around before the

[73:56]ball even goes in you know and we get all a lot

[73:57]the things that happen and they they just expand on on just

[74:02]Muhammad's light then there's just the camera just goes off whack because

[74:06]he just is he's so powerful mashallah okay but I just want

[74:09]you to understand how much responsibility can you handle is how many

[74:15]challenges you could take on a life so the next time a

[74:20]challenge happens embrace it walk with it hug it invite it in

[74:27]for coffee tea say you know what you're my challenge you're mine

[74:32]I want and I don't want anybody to solve you but me

[74:36]this is life but I'm sorry a lot of our kids now

[74:41]that's not the case look at the suicide rate and everything else

[74:46]is because of these kinds of things because suicide is the ultimate

[74:49]self-hate but if somebody truly loves themselves they're not going to do

[74:55]that to themselves but it's about taking on challenges to excel to
