[0:00]for those that don't know me there was a time not very

[0:06]long ago that I would have seen all of you as my

[0:10]enemy for as much as if I heard about Karbala the last

[0:17]two nights about 13 years ago I too is dreaming of Karbala

[0:20]as I was marching toward it with a rifle you see I

[0:26]was an American soldier and in 2003 I took part in the

[0:29]invasion of a dog and I was told that all of you

[0:34]hated people like me because we let women vote and we had

[0:43]TV and we were free and happy and in for tours overseas

[0:46]the more I experienced the more I learned that that's the most

[0:50]ridiculous thing I've ever heard of my life and the truth is

[0:54]people just don't like that doors can being kicked open at 3

[0:57]o'clock in the morning 10 years ago would have been no different

[1:05]than that three years ago I was sitting in prison my fourth

[1:12]to overseas was my third trip to Afghanistan working for a little

[1:16]company some of you probably have heard of Blackwater and that was

[1:24]the first time in my entire life that I'd actually had to

[1:29]face sobriety and so variety brings clarity and I finally began to

[1:35]learn to understand Islam not to fight Islam but the only thing

[1:44]I do about Shia was that the Uralla Kefauver you see I

[1:49]became Muslim in a Salafi gem it or me trimming my beard

[1:56]was guilty of shirk and the Shia prayed to Ali and that's

[2:00]all I knew but the more I learned about Salafism the more

[2:08]I learned that I really didn't know anything at all and when

[2:13]I told my sheikh that I wanted to ask she us about

[2:15]Shias I was told don't talk to them because they'll lie to

[2:23]you and it made me think of when I talked to my

[2:29]pastor about asking Muslims about Muslims and he said don't talk to

[2:35]them they lie to you and I can tell you this I

[2:40]don't know a lot about this religion everyday I'm learning more but

[2:44]I know that I have a family now because the truth says

[2:49]if you want to lose your friends tell them you become a

[2:51]Muslim if you want to gain some enemies tell your Muslim friends

[2:59]that you become Shia that alhamdulillah I've made hitta from Louisiana to

[3:06]Michigan and I now have people that I can call brothers and

[3:09]sisters in this faith and people that I've genuinely made me feel

[3:12]at home and welcome I think you offer that
