[9:13]respected scholars my dear brothers and sisters we extend our condolences to
[9:23]the muslim community on the death of our beloved nabi and prophet
[9:29]muhammad we will begin our program tonight with our respected scholar i
[10:43]begin in the name of the almighty god the compassionate the merciful
[10:49]the one who has created everything in utmost perfection and may the
[10:55]peace and blessings of the almighty god be upon his pure and
[10:58]beloved messenger the peak of his creation the symbol of humanity the
[11:08]holy prophet muhammad and his immaculate progeny of the ahlul bayt peace
[11:18]be upon them especially the leader of our time the awaited savior
[11:25]al imam al mahdi may allah hasten his reappearance and make us
[11:33]all amongst a sincere and dedicated servants allah subhanahu wa ta'ala states
[11:40]in the holy quran illuminate your hearts and minds with a very
[12:07]loud salawat sallallahu alaihi rahmat on this sorrowful evening we extend our
[12:17]condolences to our imam al imam al mahdi for the martyrdom and
[12:26]departure of his grandfather the greatest creation of allah the holy prophet
[12:33]muhammad the departure of the holy prophet marks the greatest loss for
[12:46]humanity for he was the symbol of humanity he was the chosen
[12:53]one by the almighty god he is the creation of allah who
[13:00]sacrificed most for his lord for his community for his religion and
[13:07]for all of humanity when the ahlul bayt peace be upon them
[13:12]would reflect on the departure of the prophet they would experience and
[13:19]feel that loss and they would consider it as the most difficult
[13:26]day that befell the muslim ummah the day when this great messenger
[13:33]of allah departed this world when we examine the life of the
[13:38]holy prophet we find that he offers us many shining chapters filled
[13:47]with amazing beautiful lessons one beautiful dimension of examining the biography of
[13:56]the prophet is that if we study his biography and the circumstances
[14:04]of his life we will find lessons for ourselves in every single
[14:10]circumstance that we go through think about it over 7,000,000,000 people on
[14:16]earth today experiencing so many circumstances in every of those circumstances they
[14:24]can relate to the messenger of god for he experienced similar circumstances
[14:31]and therefore he is the best role model that is why allah
[14:36]in surah al ahzab verse 21 states you have in the messenger
[14:46]of allah the best role model the best exemplar for the one
[14:52]who truly wants to believe in allah prepare for the day of
[14:58]judgment he is the best role model for humanity in our discussion
[15:05]this evening i would like to shed some light on multiple circumstances
[15:11]in the prophet's life that are applicable to us and that we
[15:18]find in every circumstance that we go through we have lessons to
[15:23]learn from the circumstances of the holy prophet and that's the beauty
[15:29]of these role models sometimes when we study their biography or examine
[15:37]their life we tend to oversimplify their life and consider it as
[15:42]a story one chapter is over the next chapter begins but we
[15:48]must look deeper than that and see which circumstance of the prophet's
[15:54]life applies to my circumstances today in this period in my life
[16:00]that requires a very deep understanding of the prophet's life for me
[16:06]to be able to take those circumstances and apply them to my
[16:09]life i want to share with you multiple circumstances that the prophet
[16:15]went through to see how we can benefit from that the first
[16:20]area the first circumstance that we find in the life of the
[16:24]prophet was when he was young soon after he was born when
[16:31]he was born his father abdullah had passed away so he was
[16:36]born an orphan his mother aminah lived with the prophet for about
[16:43]six years then she passed away now we find that during this
[16:48]time in the prophet's life he spent many years away from his
[16:54]mother away from mecca he was with halim as saadiyyah she came
[17:01]from the tribe of bani saad and she would sponsor the prophet
[17:06]take care of him and nurse him now there are multiple reasons
[17:10]why the mother of the prophet would allow that he was very
[17:14]special to her how could she give her to another woman number
[17:18]one there was plague in mecca there was the serious threat of
[17:23]disease so many meccan families in order for them to protect their
[17:28]children they would send them to surrounding areas to areas that were
[17:34]less susceptible to disease areas away from the city that were pure
[17:40]in their environment so she feared for the prophet's life and she
[17:45]wanted him to grow up in a pure place that was one
[17:48]reason another reason that historians have mentioned she was not able to
[17:53]nurse the prophet properly so she had with the supervision of abdul
[18:02]muttalib the grandfather of the prophet to take the prophet and to
[18:06]nurse him and so he spent multiple years with this woman this
[18:13]is a lesson my dear brothers and sisters for all of our
[18:16]children we don't find that the prophet ever showed resistance and he
[18:22]said no i don't want to be away from mecca and he
[18:25]gave his mother a hard time he trusted her judgment and when
[18:31]she made that decision or when his grandfather made that decision for
[18:35]him he accepted he went with halim as saadiyah halima saadiyah says
[18:40]never in our life had we seen so much blessings and barakah
[18:44]like we saw from this young boy in our area there was
[18:48]always a drought we did not have barakah in terms of our
[18:52]livestock in terms of our crops but ever since this young boy
[18:57]came to our tribe came to our village we saw how allah
[19:02]changed our situation the prophet never gave his mother a hard time
[19:07]it was very difficult for him to be away from the city
[19:09]of mecca many times today in many families we find children when
[19:14]parents make decisions for them that are in their best interest they
[19:19]usually try to fight that decision they don't trust the wisdom of
[19:23]their parents sometimes when parents are moving relocating somewhere else or they're
[19:30]changing the schools of their children we find that they resist one
[19:36]lesson for our dear youngsters is that the prophet had to go
[19:41]through this very difficult transition to be away from his own mother
[19:45]from his grandfather for years sometimes yes he would visit back and
[19:50]forth during that time but he was spending most of his time
[19:54]outside of mecca yet he was always accepting trusting the wisdom of
[20:00]his mother this is one important lesson that we draw from the
[20:05]childhood of the holy prophet then we find when his mother passed
[20:11]away his grandfather abdul muttalib fully took him in his care and
[20:18]the prophet spent so much time with his grandmother with his grandfather
[20:23]grandfather abdul muttalib some people when they lose their loved ones when
[20:28]they lose their parents they break down they isolate the prophet teaches
[20:34]us if allah takes away a loved one from you even if
[20:38]it's your own parents realize that allah will give you alternatives he
[20:44]will still replace them with someone who can take care of you
[20:49]yes no one can replace your parents but allah is still merciful
[20:53]allah will still care for you and we see that the prophet
[20:57]even though he was deeply saddened but he never took it negatively
[21:04]he was happy to be in the care of his grandfather and
[21:07]he would spend so much time with him if his grandfather would
[21:10]go on a business trip he would join him these days one
[21:14]of the challenges we have in many of our families we find
[21:18]that kids youngsters teenagers they don't like to spend time with their
[21:23]grandparents you know here in america the average american teenager do you
[21:29]know how much time he spends with his grandparents or with her
[21:32]grandparents what do you think per year how much time does an
[21:39]average teenager here in the us spend with their grandparents four hours
[21:45]a year can you imagine that's the average four hours a year
[21:49]you see that disconnect our grandparents had a lifetime of experience they
[21:56]are a blessing in our families learn from the prophet to be
[22:00]with them even travel with them how many of you have traveled
[22:03]with your grandparents do that once in a while it brings blessings
[22:09]in your life there's so much to learn from them he would
[22:14]accompany his grandfather sometimes all the way north to shamm this was
[22:20]a long journey back then from mecca going to the damascus syria
[22:25]region but the prophet found it an honor to go with his
[22:30]grandfather four hours a year is the average time that an american
[22:36]teenager spends with his parents now compare that to 2,000 of tv
[22:45]the average teenager here in america spends two thousand hours a year
[22:50]watching tv contrast that to four hours with your grandparents you see
[22:56]this is one of the challenges that we are experiencing in our
[22:59]modern society take this beautiful lesson our youngsters our beloved youth take
[23:05]this lesson from your prophet you want to honor his legacy spend
[23:09]time with your grandparents travel with them engage in activities with them
[23:15]the quran says in every aspect of his life he's a role
[23:18]model for you don't think just when he became old and he
[23:22]received revelation then he's a role model for you no even before
[23:26]revelation the holy prophet is a source of inspiration for us so
[23:32]this is the first area that we can really draw so many
[23:35]lessons from and that's the childhood of the prophet the second area
[23:41]in the life of the prophet that we can derive so many
[23:44]lessons from is his participation in an alliance called in arabic in
[23:53]english if we'd like to translate it we can say it's called
[23:57]the alliance of justice basically in the year may there was a
[24:06]very troublesome battle and war called the battle of fujar that occurred
[24:15]around the city of mecca it was an unjust battle people were
[24:21]being violated and oppressed so a number of tribes from mecca they
[24:28]gathered in the house of abdullah ibn jada'an or jada'an they gathered
[24:34]in his house bani hashem were there a number of other tribes
[24:39]were there from quraysh and they decided to form an alliance calling
[24:43]it the alliance of justice let us stand with those who are
[24:49]oppressed let us try to resist injustice the prophet according to certain
[24:58]hadiths he says i attended that alliance how old was the prophet
[25:04]if he was born may and this was year may he was
[25:09]about 20 years old when he participated this important event the prophet
[25:13]said because it was an issue of justice even though a lot
[25:18]of those tribes they were pagans remember this is before the religion
[25:21]of islam many of them who were there to make that alliance
[25:27]were idol worshippers but the prophet says because it was an alliance
[25:32]of justice i participated in it and this is a beautiful lesson
[25:36]for us that wherever in your society you see injustice do something
[25:42]be active be part of a movement that calls for justice look
[25:49]at our state today and our societies my dear brothers and sisters
[25:53]especially with our communities do you find that many of our communities
[26:00]are interested in domestic issues when it comes to justice and injustice
[26:07]most people do not care if it's about domestic issues that impact
[26:13]our society that impact social justice we don't care it's not important
[26:18]for us look at the challenges that we are facing in america
[26:22]today racism discrimination what are we doing about that are we doing
[26:28]anything not much you find for instance other challenges that we are
[26:35]going through other types of injustice that is institutionalized what are we
[26:41]doing about that when you for instance look at political injustice like
[26:46]gerrymandering do you know what it is ask even someone in our
[26:50]community do you even know what gerrymandering is how does that impact
[26:54]you how does that impact the voting process believe me a lot
[26:57]of people are clueless they don't even know gun control and the
[27:03]violence that we see in our country what are we doing about
[27:06]that there are groups out there working for justice we should be
[27:11]in the front lines the prophet is teaching us that even though
[27:15]these people were idol worshippers many of them but because it was
[27:19]an alliance of justice it was for a good cause i participated
[27:24]in it and this in this hadith the prophet says even after
[27:28]islam if i were to be invited to such an alliance i
[27:32]would go and be part of it even if you have idol
[27:35]worshippers calling on justice justice is justice everywhere and injustice is injustice
[27:41]everywhere this is a valuable lesson that we must take from the
[27:46]life of our prophet anytime i can do something for social justice
[27:52]i should be the first one there the third area that we
[27:57]find in the life of the prophet is when he becomes at
[28:03]the age of 25 he reaches 25 and now he was looking
[28:09]for a business opportunity oftentimes when you're looking for a business opportunity
[28:15]what are you looking for look how the prophet approaches this business
[28:22]opportunity abu talib his uncle had taken care of him for such
[28:27]a long time so he wanted to pay him back because abu
[28:30]talib was financially struggling and he had a number of sons and
[28:35]daughters to take care of so the prophet decided that he wanted
[28:40]to work he wanted to earn some money so he can help
[28:45]his uncle abu talib so what does he do he consults his
[28:51]uncle and he does something that was quite unusual in that society
[28:58]in the arabian peninsula women were considered second class citizens in fact
[29:04]most of them were not independent they were dependent on their male
[29:09]relatives their fathers their brothers their husbands they had no business they
[29:16]did not engage in trade they did not own a business and
[29:21]it was pretty unusual to go and work with a woman in
[29:26]terms of business many men they found this to be humiliating for
[29:32]them i go and i work for a woman for the business
[29:35]of a woman impossible i'm not going to do that because they
[29:39]had that arrogance that arabian arrogance in arabian society but the prophet
[29:45]he comes to his uncle abu talib and he consults him they
[29:51]discuss this business opportunity with lady khadija who was such a noble
[29:57]woman of character abu talib tells him it's a great idea i've
[30:02]heard many good things about her why not and so the prophet
[30:06]signals his readiness to work with her she becomes very happy that
[30:13]this young man who's known for his character for his akhlaq for
[30:16]his decency for his righteousness he wants to work with her and
[30:20]so he does business with lady khadija he would take caravans he
[30:26]would travel do business on her behalf and then he would come
[30:29]back to mecca and this was a lesson that if there is
[30:33]someone in your society who's trustworthy because lady khadija was trustworthy someone
[30:40]who was god fearing she was god fearing someone who was pure
[30:44]do business with them we find that the prophet did not go
[30:48]after the aristocrats of mecca why not there were many wealthy businessmen
[30:53]in mecca you could have easily approached them and told them i'd
[30:56]like to work with you why did he not do that remember
[30:59]this is before islam so nobody was fighting him yet he was
[31:03]well respected in mecca why is it that we do not find
[31:07]the prophet going to one of those wealthy meccans and asking them
[31:12]for a business opportunity the prophet is demonstrating to us that you
[31:19]look for someone who's honest someone who's pure someone who's chaste then
[31:25]you can do business with them even if society finds it a
[31:28]little bit unusual but that's fine allah will send down the rizq
[31:35]and the barakah and the sustenance for you and then we find
[31:41]that after months and months of working with lady khadija and she
[31:46]begin to witness his amazing character she became interested in him and
[31:53]so she signaled to the prophet that i am interested in marrying
[31:58]you now this was also a little bit unusual because in those
[32:02]conservative societies men usually initiate the marriage initiate the proposal or signal
[32:08]that they are interested whereas we have many sources and hadiths that
[32:12]indicate lady khadija she's the one who initiated this and she expressed
[32:18]her interest in the prophet now the prophet is a man of
[32:22]intellect the prophet did not say how dare she be the first
[32:28]one to initiate this shame on her this is unacceptable no the
[32:33]prophet found it reasonable she got to know him through this business
[32:37]opportunity especially through her servant maysarah who would accompany the prophet on
[32:42]his business trips she would ask him after every trip maysarah tell
[32:46]me about muhammad tell me about his character how would he conduct
[32:56]those business transactions tell me i want to hear it it's very
[32:59]interesting for me so she kept gathering information about him she did
[33:03]research and then she expressed her interest the prophet sanctioned that he
[33:09]approved of that because he was truly a man of reason a
[33:14]man of wisdom today i'll be very honest with you my dear
[33:16]brothers and sisters one of the problems that we have in the
[33:19]community is that sometimes some sisters who are interested in marriage if
[33:24]they bring up the topic of marriage or they signal to others
[33:28]that they're interested in marrying quickly they're put down even by women
[33:32]in the community they're put down shame on you talking about marriage
[33:37]this is ayb this is a source of shame don't talk about
[33:40]marriage just sit on your couch until someone comes knocking at your
[33:44]door isn't it so in many of our communities in many of
[33:49]our conservative societies the prophet breaks these barriers as long as it's
[33:55]handled professionally appropriately there's nothing wrong with that and therefore he accepted
[34:02]that proposal and he took his uncle abu talib and they went
[34:06]to officially to propose to lady khadija and that's a beautiful lesson
[34:11]for us so this is the third area in the prophet's life
[34:17]that we can take those circumstances and apply them to our modern
[34:22]circumstances the fourth one my dear brothers and sisters and this one's
[34:26]very critical and important we find that the prophet for a long
[34:32]time before he received revelation at the age of 40 he would
[34:38]go to mount hira that cave overlooking the kaaba in mecca and
[34:43]he would spend private time with his lord many times he would
[34:48]take imam ali with him as well because imam ali was growing
[34:53]up in the care of the prophet he would meditate he would
[34:58]spend time spiritually preparing himself for a very important mission in life
[35:08]the prophet is teaching us whenever you're about to take a big
[35:12]step in your life you're graduating maybe from high school you're going
[35:16]to college you're graduating from college you're about to start your career
[35:22]when there is a huge step in your life that awaits you
[35:26]you need to spiritually prepare yourself and that requires some level of
[35:32]healthy isolation our dear youth before you go to college let's say
[35:37]it's your senior year during those three months work on yourself set
[35:44]aside several hours a day where you reflect you think about your
[35:49]future you think about what's good for you you think about the
[35:53]dangers in society you need that reflection spend time reflecting on that
[36:03]and building your relationship with allah then when you go to college
[36:07]you will be ready or when you're graduating from college and you're
[36:11]starting your career this is a very important transition in your life
[36:15]or you're about to get married that's another important transition the prophet
[36:19]teaches us you need some time away from the distraction of life
[36:24]and society go and prepare yourself spiritually psychologically prepare yourself don't be
[36:31]so distracted by society just going and hopping from one place to
[36:37]another place from one step to another step you have to be
[36:42]prepared and so the prophet knew that when he would receive the
[36:45]revelation the message from allah it would be a very big step
[36:50]so he prepared himself he would go for such a long time
[36:55]spending entire days in the ghar of hira in that cave worshiping
[37:01]allah working on his spirituality maintaining that strong relationship with his lord
[37:11]and this is a very important lesson allah in the holy quran
[37:16]reminds us to be prepared for big transitions in our lives and
[37:23]one of the transitions that the holy quran mentions is the age
[37:26]of 40 this age of 40 my dear brothers and sister is
[37:31]a critical stage in our lives before the age of 40 we
[37:37]are more flexible to change our habits our lifestyles we quickly adapt
[37:43]especially teenagers have you seen youngsters they quickly adapt to their environment
[37:48]whereas adults they find it much more difficult before the age of
[37:53]40 i can still work on myself if i have negative habits
[37:57]i can change them but after the age of 40 those habits
[38:03]that lifestyle basically becomes permanent it becomes a permanent aspect of my
[38:09]personality changing it is still possible but it's much more difficult but
[38:13]before the age of 40 i still have that opportunity and allah
[38:19]mentions this in surat al aqaf verse 15 allah in the beginning
[38:24]of the verse he speaks about our duties and responsibilities towards our
[38:30]parents then allah mentions this critical stage in our lives allah says
[38:53]when he becomes physically mature physically strong then he becomes intellectually mature
[39:01]when he becomes at the age of 40 he reaches this age
[39:05]he realizes that everything that he has is from allah all those
[39:11]blessings that i have today i shouldn't be arrogant and think it's
[39:15]all because of my efforts yes my efforts do play a role
[39:18]but in the end it's the efforts of my parents if it
[39:22]weren't for my parents and the sacrifices they offered me i would
[39:25]not be where i am today i need to remember that and
[39:30]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is the one who blessed me with everything
[39:35]that is making me successful today when you become 40 years you
[39:41]remember that and you put yourself on a good path and you
[39:45]make sure that you are on a good path this is extremely
[39:48]important to consider my dear brothers and sisters it's a turning point
[39:54]in our lives there's also so much science behind the age of
[39:57]40 scientists are discovering that at the age of 40 that is
[40:03]the peak of our mental concentration our intellectual concentration when you want
[40:09]to concentrate on something that usually peaks at age 40 and many
[40:14]of the prophets of allah they received revelation at the age of
[40:19]40 because it's such an important threshold to cross in our lives
[40:25]the prophet is teaching us be prepared for this don't let the
[40:29]age of 40 hit you and then you go through a midlife
[40:32]crisis like many people and then you engage in bizarre behavior and
[40:37]start wasting your wealth and wasting your time be prepared for this
[40:42]turning point in your life that's one amazing lesson that we learn
[40:48]from the life of the prophet the fifth area or the fifth
[40:52]circumstance that we learn from the prophet and this one is extremely
[40:55]critical the prophet had two main stages in his life after the
[41:01]religion of islam the first was mecca the second was medina they
[41:07]were very different it was the same prophet with the same character
[41:11]but the circumstances were very different between these two in mecca the
[41:16]prophet was persecuted he had no strong community to support him muslims
[41:23]were harassed on a daily basis and so the prophet was always
[41:29]patient for thirteen years show me one day in mecca where the
[41:32]prophet sought revenge you know what they would do to him in
[41:35]mecca first of all the name calling look at the quran and
[41:40]see what allah mentions in the holy quran they would accuse him
[41:44]of being a sorcerer they accused him of being insane do you
[41:49]know how hurtful that is if you're a person of integrity you
[41:54]care about your reputation and your own society calls you insane crazy
[42:01]you know how much that hurts do we appreciate what our prophet
[42:05]went through when we read these verses let's reflect on them this
[42:11]was a source of pain for the prophet and allah subhanahu wa
[42:16]ta'ala acknowledges this in the holy quran oh our messenger we know
[42:26]that your chest becomes tight you become depressed due to what they
[42:31]say imagine you've done nothing but goodness to your community for over
[42:37]forty years they call you the trustworthy the truthful one and then
[42:45]suddenly the name calling starts and they accuse you of being a
[42:49]liar being a magician sorcerer of being insane that's very hurtful but
[42:54]the prophet teaches us have patience you have a goal don't react
[43:00]because reacting at that stage means you lose your message have patience
[43:06]you could have someone in the community and you have a project
[43:09]you want to be very successful at it somebody is causing you
[43:13]so much stress causing you so much problems it could be a
[43:17]spouse that is causing you some of these problems be patient do
[43:24]not retaliate some people compare prophet jesus alaihis salaam to prophet muhammad
[43:32]sallallaho alaihi wa'alehi and they say see jesus was so peaceful whereas
[43:38]the prophet of islam engaged in battles if you want to be
[43:42]accurate in your comparison compare the life of the prophet in mecca
[43:48]during those thirteen years to prophet because their circumstances were the same
[43:54]prophet did not have a strong community to support him he was
[43:58]chased from one village to another village that's exactly how the prophet
[44:03]was in mecca and we find the prophet being so patient so
[44:09]patient not retaliating oftentimes he would be in masjid al haram in
[44:14]sujood prostrating to allah not harming anyone and they would come they
[44:21]would violate his sanctity they would harass him they would take the
[44:25]intestines of camels and throw it at the prophet lady fatima would
[44:31]come she would see that scene she was just a little girl
[44:34]and she would be so disturbed she would cry when she see
[44:38]that with her small blessed hands she would wipe the dust and
[44:42]the blood from the body of the prophet do you ever find
[44:47]the prophet retaliating getting up and beating one of them or ordering
[44:51]one of his companions to go and kill these people you want
[44:55]to compare him to prophet jesus look at these thirteen years because
[44:59]the circumstances are identical here and then the prophet when he goes
[45:04]to medina yes now he has support now he has a community
[45:09]now he's the leader of that community and being the leader of
[45:13]the community necessitates that you protect your community that you look for
[45:20]their well-being and you protect them from the dangers of those enemies
[45:26]that's very important to consider in the life of the prophet and
[45:31]then you find the holy quran telling us about the challenges of
[45:35]the prophet in medina this circumstance of the prophet in dealing with
[45:42]his companions is an area my dear brothers and sisters that we
[45:46]have to implement in our lives allah subhanahu wa ta'ala captures one
[45:53]of the challenges of the prophet in surah ta'ala allah subhanahu wa
[45:58]ta'ala states some of these companions they would harass and hurt the
[46:04]prophet there are those companions who would hurt the prophet the quran
[46:22]says and what would they say they would say he easily believes
[46:28]anyone who speaks to him basically they would gather amongst themselves they
[46:32]would backbite gossip create trouble and fitnah for the prophet then sometimes
[46:41]when the prophet confronts them and asks them about it they would
[46:44]say no no you rasulallah we did not say that we did
[46:48]not say anything of that sort the prophet would stay silent he
[46:54]would not come publicly exposing them and telling them no you're lying
[47:00]the prophet knew what they were doing allah would inform him about
[47:03]their conspiracies but the prophet he had such high character usually he
[47:09]would not confront them he would ask them once but if they
[47:13]would lie if they would hide the prophet would not further expose
[47:18]them so you know what they would say they would say this
[47:21]is a man who believes everything he hears god tells him that
[47:24]we're conspiring he believes his lord and then when he challenges us
[47:29]and he confronts us and he asked us about it we say
[47:32]no we did not he stays silent which means he believes us
[47:36]too allah subhanahu wa ta'ala rebukes them in the holy quran allah
[47:42]says say that the prophet is acting out of goodness for you
[47:51]do you want the prophet to come and expose you the prophet
[47:56]is giving you a path to repent and he was so sensitive
[48:00]about the dignity of people even people who would be disrespectful with
[48:04]him the prophet would be so sensitive with them sensitive with their
[48:10]dignity one day a man who was poor he came to see
[48:14]the prophet in the masjid he told him you rasulullah i'm poor
[48:18]i'm needy help me out the prophet did not have much to
[48:24]give him so he gave him a small amount of assistance that
[48:29]man belittled it so in front of all the companions he rejected
[48:35]the assistance of the prophet and he humiliated the prophet yes he
[48:42]was not polite in his behavior it says if he told the
[48:46]prophet that's it that's all you give me he insulted the prophet
[48:50]but the prophet maintained such good character the next day the prophet
[48:57]brought more assistance and he gave it to this man privately he
[49:02]gave it to him then the prophet asked him are you satisfied
[49:05]now are you happy with me now are you pleased he said
[49:09]yes you rasulallah i am pleased now now you've given me more
[49:13]the prophet says okay i have one suggestion to you yesterday when
[49:18]you said what you said in the presence of my companions my
[49:21]companions started talking about you because the way you behaved was inappropriate
[49:28]and then they're now backbiting they're gossiping they view you negatively i
[49:35]want you to come to the mosque and tell them now that
[49:38]you are satisfied with what i gave you so now they view
[49:42]you favorably because his dignity was at stake the prophet cared about
[49:48]his dignity you find this compassionate leader he cared the dignity about
[49:53]those who would come and insult him yet he cared about their
[49:56]dignity and this is a lesson for us in our lives there
[50:01]will be people who will put us in such a situation but
[50:06]how should we react if someone even is lying to you my
[50:11]dear brothers and sisters if you want to honor the legacy of
[50:14]the prophet you know someone is lying to you to save face
[50:17]the prophet teaches you let them that's fine don't always confront them
[50:21]and tell them no you're a liar a spouse knows that the
[50:25]other spouse has no excuse and they're just making an excuse it's
[50:29]okay let them make an excuse they made a mistake don't always
[50:34]confront others and expose them on the spot the prophet teaches us
[50:38]to have a big compassionate heart and embrace everyone in your community
[50:45]but at the same time the prophet was firm you have to
[50:50]be firm as well when the prophet would see a violation when
[50:55]he would see racism the prophet would be very firm so you
[51:00]have to maintain that balance on the one hand be gentle with
[51:04]people do not expose them but on the other hand if you
[51:07]see something wrong around you you have to step in once the
[51:12]prophet right before the battle of badr he was praying when he
[51:18]realized two muslims they captured two people who had come from the
[51:24]mashliqeen from the pagans they had come to the wells of badr
[51:28]in order to take some water so they started interrogating those two
[51:33]pagans these muslims who captured them they were interrogating them and they
[51:38]started to torture them you know torturing someone for interrogation purposes that's
[51:43]what they were doing the prophet became extremely disturbed he quickly finished
[51:48]his prayer then he went to them and he told them release
[51:50]him you have no right to torture him and interrogate him he
[51:55]would take action if he would see violations from his companions he
[51:59]would take immediate action he would not allow for discrimination and racism
[52:04]to go unchecked but at the same time he was extremely gentle
[52:08]by not exposing people by protecting their integrity by protecting their honor
[52:16]by protecting their dignity and so we find in every aspect the
[52:21]holy prophet is indeed a role model for us every stage that
[52:27]you go in your life my dear brothers and sisters the prophet
[52:30]has a lesson for you in mecca as we examined then when
[52:36]he migrated to medina his migration is a lesson for us sometimes
[52:41]you could be stuck in a situation with a business partner you're
[52:45]working on a project you're working with an institution you're working for
[52:49]anything and then there's tension you try to resolve the issue it
[52:54]doesn't work usually we're attached to our projects to our work and
[53:00]we're willing to fight everyone all the way the prophet teaches us
[53:04]look be patient you have to persevere but there are times in
[53:10]your life where you have to move on let it go the
[53:13]prophet left mecca he loved his hometown of mecca but he let
[53:17]it go for a greater cause and sometimes when we're stuck in
[53:23]situations my dear brothers and sisters we have to let go don't
[53:28]be so attached to everything such that you're willing to fight with
[53:31]everyone learn from the life of the prophet sometimes you have to
[53:35]be firm but sometimes you have to just let go it's not
[53:38]worth it let go for the sake of allah on this night
[53:45]my dear brothers and sisters we commemorate the legacy of the holy
[53:49]prophet his departure represented the greatest loss for humanity in those final
[53:59]days of the life of the prophet he would constantly see his
[54:03]ahlul bayt he was constantly see his grandsons al imam al hassan
[54:09]al hussain he would see lady fatima alaihi salam he would see
[54:14]amir al mumineen alaihi salam and when he would remember the oppression
[54:19]that will occur to them this caused so much sorrow in the
[54:25]hearts of the prophet and he would cry for that imagine after
[54:31]twenty three years of sacrifices at the age of 63 you know
[54:36]you're leaving your family your community behind knowing that your ummah is
[54:41]going to kill your own grandson is going to violate your own
[54:45]daughter imagine that is there something more difficult than that my dear
[54:49]brothers and sisters this was a constant source of pain in the
[54:52]life of the holy prophet in those final moments in the life
[54:59]of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa aalehi one narrator he tells us
[55:04]the prophet was calling on someone he was not comfortable he wanted
[55:08]someone to be with him yes some people they brought this companion
[55:13]that companion next to the prophet as he was spending his final
[55:18]moments but the prophet was not happy until finally someone said we
[55:25]know whom the prophet wants he wants one man he wants call
[55:37]on the beloved one call on ali ibn abi talib in these
[55:41]final moments i want him to be with me here imam ali
[55:46]ibn abi talib he comes to see the prophet yes these are
[55:52]the final days of the prophet's life the final moments the prophet
[55:57]wanted to spend some time with ali ibn abi talim imam ali
[56:02]ibn abi talim he comes to these see the prophet he carries
[56:06]the blessed head of the prophet in his own lap imam ali
[56:11]confirms that the final moments in the prophet's life i was there
[56:16]his head was in my lap in those final moments the imam
[56:21]wanted to care for the prophet the prophet would speak to him
[56:26]giving him his final will when one narration states hassan and hussein
[56:31]they were young boys they came into the room of the prophet
[56:35]prophet they saw their grandfather in that difficult situation they knew they
[56:41]would be losing him soon hassan al hussain they come they fall
[56:46]on the chest of the prophet yes imam ali ibn abi talib
[56:51]alaihi salam he tries to carry them away from the chest of
[56:56]the prophet because he did not want them to disturb the prophet
[56:59]these are his final difficult moments the prophet tells imam ali o
[57:06]ali keep them why are you removing them from my chest keep
[57:12]them i want to spend these final moments with them know after
[57:19]me they shall be killed after me they shall be oppressed as
[57:25]for hussain as for hassan he will be betrayed and he will
[57:31]be killed by poisoning as for my grandson hussain he will be
[57:39]killed at karubara difficult days await them oh ali keep them on
[57:45]my chest the prophet wanted his beloved grandsons to be on his
[57:50]chest in those final moments as he was farewelling them yes the
[57:55]poet in arabic he describes these two scenes it talking about imam
[58:02]hussein he says one day on the chest of al mustafa and
[58:10]one day on the plains of karabbalah imagine imagine in those final
[58:15]moments the prophet wanted his beloved hussein to be on his chest
[58:20]but what did this ummah do to abba abdullah al hussein on
[58:25]the day of ashura these were very difficult moments for the al
[58:31]al baith peace be upon them the lady fatima she comes into
[58:37]the room she could not hold back her tears she knew that
[58:43]now she was going to lose her guardian and that others would
[58:47]be emboldened to attack her lady fatima has sensed that she knew
[58:52]that she was about to lose her guardian and protect her she
[58:56]wants to the prophet she cries but the prophet he wants to
[59:02]comfort her he whispers something into her ears that gives her some
[59:06]comfort later lady fatima was asked what is it that the prophet
[59:10]whispered into your ear that made you comfortable she said the prophet
[59:15]informed me that i would be the first one from his from
[59:19]his family to join him and this gave me comfort i knew
[59:24]i would not stay long after the prophet yes in those final
[59:29]moments jibrael he descends to the prophet israel the angel of death
[59:36]comes to visit the prophet israel when allah commands him to go
[59:42]and take the soul of anyone he would never be authorized by
[59:47]allah to give that person the choice of staying in this world
[59:51]or departing the only exception was rasulullah when the angel of death
[59:57]comes to him he tells him you rasulullah allah has given you
[60:02]the option do you want to stay longer in this world or
[60:06]do you want to go back to your lord one hadith states
[60:09]the prophet talks to jibraeen he tells him habibi jibra'in you tell
[60:16]me what do you recommend should i stay in this world or
[60:21]should i choose to go back to my lord that's when jibra'in
[60:25]recited this verse to him he said no you rasulullah the akhirah
[60:34]is better than this world go back to your lord that is
[60:38]better for you at that point the prophet looks at the angel
[60:43]of death and he does him i give you the permission o
[60:48]angel of death you can take my soul you can take my
[60:53]life imam ali ibn abi talib ibn najal baragah says he says
[60:58]i swear by allah the prophet was in my arms when he
[61:04]breathed his final moments and the soul of the prophet departed he
[61:14]was in the arms of raise your hands in dua allah subhanahu
[61:42]wa ta'ala has promised us with broken hearts and tears allah subhanahu
[61:46]wa ta'ala will answer our prayers everyone raise your hand in dua
[61:51]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has promised that if we recite this holy
[61:56]verse five times together all those who are ill all those who
[62:00]are struggling allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will grant them a speedy recovery
[62:04]and relief everyone together we have a young sister zahraq qazwini that
[63:41]would like to recite a poem let's give her allah when you
