[0:00]when it comes to the topic of our children the holy quran
[0:05]the book of god the book of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala clearly
[0:08]illustrates two points the first point is that our children are the
[0:15]greatest or one of the greatest blessings that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[0:19]gives us and they are a source of our pride the holy
[0:22]quran says allah says that wealth and children are the adornments they
[0:32]beautify this world this life for us and that's why we love
[0:36]our children so much and thus it stated that during the jahiliyah
[0:40]the arabs used to take so much pride in their children a
[0:44]father would walk and five sons on his right five sons on
[0:49]his left and they used to boast about their children the more
[0:53]children i have the more exalted i am and that's why when
[0:57]they used to when they used to fight rasulullah some of the
[1:01]enemies of our prophets what would they tell him they used to
[1:04]tell him we are better than you and what was their reasoning
[1:07]they used to tell him we're better than you because we have
[1:10]more wealth and more children than you we have more children than
[1:17]you and that's why we're better so they used to show off
[1:21]their children they used to boast about their children some people they
[1:25]show off their wealth others they show off their children and when
[1:29]it comes to islam you find rasulullah he's narrated in one hadith
[1:37]he says he says get married and have lots of children because
[1:47]on the day of judgment i rasulullah will boast about you muslims
[1:52]because we muslims are like the children of rasulullah we're his followers
[1:56]and the more we are the more proud rasulullah will be on
[1:59]the day of judgment and that's why certain narrations tell us that
[2:03]imam ali ibn abi talib had as many as 28 children imam
[2:09]al kavam alaihi salam our seventh imam had as many as 37
[2:13]children so our children are the source of our pride of our
[2:19]pride and they are a blessing from allah subhanahu wa ta'ala but
[2:23]as they say there is no blessing that comes without any strings
[2:28]attached because the holy quran at the same time that it says
[2:31]that one of the greatest blessings is your children the holy quran
[2:35]also says in one verse the second verse the holy quran says
[2:39]the holy quran says that your children are what fitnah allah will
[2:48]test you with their children so at the same time that my
[2:51]child is a blessing but if this child is not taken care
[2:54]of and brought up in the right way that blessing can turn
[2:57]into my worst nightmare that blessing can turn into a curse how
[3:02]many mothers and fathers do i know and you know that they
[3:05]struggle with their children they have so many problems with their children
[3:10]how many fathers and mothers they have sleepless nights because of their
[3:15]children because of the problems of their children and especially in the
[3:18]teenage years because it's difficult brothers and sisters raising a child to
[3:23]be behaving to be good practicing faithful individual is not an easy
[3:29]task it's very very difficult and that's why the quran calls our
[3:34]children fitnah we're gonna be tested with our children allah gives me
[3:38]this child and this child is a responsibility can i handle this
[3:42]responsibility or not but what we notice is many people many parents
[3:48]many fathers and mothers they take good care of their children's physical
[3:52]needs they give them the best health the best education the best
[3:57]food and shelter but when it comes to the spiritual needs of
[4:01]their children they're indifferent they don't really care some people worry some
[4:06]parents worry more about their child's cavity than their children's iman faith
[4:12]salah hijab sowm so the question is here as a father or
[4:18]a mother many of you here are parents or inshallah one day
[4:22]you'll get married and you will have the honor of being parents
[4:24]the question is here why is it necessary that i bring my
[4:29]child up with faith why is it important why as a father
[4:34]or mother should i wear worry that my child grows up to
[4:38]be a practicing muslim to be a devout god fearing muslim why
[4:43]is that important why the why should that be in my agenda
[4:46]when i wanna bring up my child you see besides the obvious
[4:51]fact that i mentioned that our children have both physical and spiritual
[4:55]needs and as a loving and caring father and mother i should
[4:58]cater to both not just the physical the spiritual needs and faith
[5:02]is one of the needs of the child despite this fact if
[5:06]i raise my child in an islamic way in a way in
[5:10]which i cater for his spiritual needs as well this will work
[5:14]in my interest as well the father and mother i will benefit
[5:18]from this as well how so two ways if i raise my
[5:22]child in an islamic way me the father and the mother i
[5:26]will benefit in two ways how number one you find many parents
[5:31]when their children are growing up and especially when they reach the
[5:34]age of what the teenage years they have many concerns many things
[5:38]that they worry about and there are two main things that they
[5:42]worry about the first thing is that they fear rebellion from their
[5:46]children i the father and the mother raised this child i spent
[5:50]money on this child i love this child i sacrifice for this
[5:54]child once he becomes a teenager he rebels he no longer listens
[5:58]to me he begins to disrespect me one of the greatest fears
[6:02]of parents is what is having an ungrateful father a ungrateful son
[6:07]or daughter but if i raise if i raise my child in
[6:11]the islamic way i will never have to fear that do you
[6:15]know why because i tell you there is no religion there is
[6:19]no religion in the world today that stresses on the importance of
[6:23]the respect of parents like islam search amongst all the religions you
[6:27]will never find a religion that stresses the importance of respecting parents
[6:32]like islam to the extent that i mentioned the verse a few
[6:36]days ago the holy quran says often do not even tell them
[6:41]off off is the smallest and least expression of dissatisfaction it's the
[6:47]smallest thing it's the smallest way in which you what you express
[6:50]your dissatisfaction holy quran says if your mother your father tell you
[6:54]to do something you say you don't wanna do it the quran
[6:58]says this is a sin don't say that in another verse allah
[7:02]subhanahu wa ta'ala says he says allah has mandated that you human
[7:11]beings worship god that's number one what's number two after worshiping god
[7:15]number two right after worshiping god is respecting your parents this is
[7:21]the second most important thing so that's why if i raise my
[7:25]child in a way in which he reads the quran and he
[7:27]listens to the quran listens to the words of god this will
[7:31]work for my benefit because allah is telling the children respect your
[7:35]parents i will never fear rebellion so that's number one that's the
[7:40]first fear the second fear that many parents have is what they
[7:43]fear that when their children enter the teenage years they're gonna enter
[7:47]into crimes drugs and many other immoral acts and likewise if i
[7:53]raise my child in an islamic way i never have to fear
[7:56]those things why because if i plant in my child the fear
[8:00]of god the fear of i will be sure that my child
[8:05]will never ever go towards immorality i know my child will never
[8:09]go towards crime towards drugs why not because i have to tell
[8:13]him because once i plant within my child the fear of god
[8:18]that fear will be the deterrent because he fears allah he will
[8:22]never go to drugs because that child fears allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[8:26]he'll never go into crimes so do you see how beautiful just
[8:30]plant the the the the fear of god in your children the
[8:34]love of god in your children build a connection between your child
[8:37]and god and you never have to worry again allah will take
[8:40]care of everything god will what will guide them to respecting me
[8:45]and god will guide them to stay away from all of that
[8:47]immorality so it works in my best interest if i raise my
[8:50]child in an islamic way so this is number one this is
[8:54]the first way that i as a father or mother benefit from
[8:57]my child's faith the second way that i as a father or
[9:01]mother benefit from my child's faith is that our children are one
[9:05]of the best investments that we can have you see we all
[9:10]look for investments we want to invest in this life so that
[9:14]we can benefit in the long run many of us invest in
[9:16]the stock market others we invest in real estate others in merchandise
[9:20]and so many other things but what you find is when i
[9:23]invest in my child and when i bring up my child in
[9:27]a way in which he is always reciting quran in a way
[9:31]in which he fears allah subhanahu wa ta'ala not only will i
[9:35]benefit from my child in this life but i'll also benefit after
[9:40]i die you see all these investments as soon as i die
[9:44]they're no use that's it if you have if you own thousands
[9:48]of acres and you're making rent from all of those or you
[9:52]have so much stocks and you're making money out of those as
[9:55]soon as you die you're never gonna benefit anymore from those but
[9:59]my child if i raise a god fearing good practicing faithful religious
[10:05]child i will benefit from that child even after my death first
[10:09]of all how do i benefit from my child in this world
[10:11]besides the first point that we mentioned any good deed that my
[10:16]child does my dear brothers and sisters allah will also reward me
[10:20]because the hadith says you've all heard this hadith the hadith says
[10:27]if you guide someone to doing something good if i tell my
[10:30]my brother do something good and he goes and he does something
[10:33]good because i guided him and taught him that allah says that
[10:36]i will reward you as well because you are the one that
[10:39]taught that person and guided that person to that good correct imagine
[10:43]if that child all that he contains which is good was from
[10:46]the mother and father every good deed that child will do allah
[10:51]will reward me because i'm responsible for it and even after i
[10:54]die i'm in my grave i'm dead i can no longer do
[10:58]any good deeds i see i'm getting reward after reward after reward
[11:02]i asked the angels why they tell me because your son and
[11:05]your daughter are doing good deeds and you're benefiting from them and
[11:09]not only will they do good deeds but they'll do good deeds
[11:11]for me you see the quran teaches us if i wanna be
[11:15]a grateful son and daughter what do i have to do i
[11:18]have to always do dua prayer for my father and mother always
[11:22]pray for your parents whether they are alive or dead and especially
[11:25]if they're dead every single day brothers and sisters the quran says
[11:28]pray for your parents the holy quran says every day brothers and
[11:40]sisters do a dua for your parents tell god you allah i
[11:43]ask you to bless my parents i ask you to show my
[11:46]parents mercy in the same way they were merciful with me when
[11:50]i was a child so i'm in my grave i'm dead but
[11:53]my child is what my son and my daughter are doing good
[11:55]deeds for me they read quran for me they read dua for
[11:58]me they donate for an islamic or a good cause for me
[12:01]and i am the one that's receiving all what all the ajar
[12:04]do you see what a beautiful investment plants in your children the
[12:08]love of god allah will do all the rest for you so
[12:12]these are two ways we benefit from our children but you find
[12:16]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he tells us that a believer he does
[12:21]a dua every believer should do a dua regarding their children the
[12:25]holy quran says in the verse i began my lecture with allah
[12:29]says every believer makes this dua what is this dua he asks
[12:42]allah you allah i want you to give me from my children
[12:45]my offsprings the comfort of my heart and the joy of my
[12:49]eyes every day i should ask allah to give me children that
[12:52]will give me comfort do you know how many parents suffer from
[12:55]their from their children because of their children they suffer i have
[12:59]to ask allah to give me children that will give me comfort
[13:03]not that lead me to suffering because of their problems every day
[13:06]i get a phone call from school look what your son look
[13:08]what your daughter did sometimes i get a phone call from the
[13:11]police station look what we caught your son or daughter doing is
[13:13]this a life that we look forward to i want comfort for
[13:16]my children the joy of my eyes for my children i do
[13:20]this dua every day and this comfort and this joy my friends
[13:24]does not come for free it's not just gonna happen automatically one
[13:28]day it's not gonna be planted in my children when they are
[13:34]in school if i want comfort for my children don't think that
[13:37]the public schools will teach my children to be in that way
[13:41]don't think that the tv will teach my child to be in
[13:45]a way in which i will be comfortable the tv nor the
[13:49]public schools will teach our children respect your parents never i went
[13:52]to public schools i watched the tv never ever in my life
[13:55]i hear you're a teacher respect your parents even if there is
[13:58]it's very rare this only comes from what from my hard work
[14:02]brothers and sisters my effort the more time i spend on my
[14:06]children the more effort i put into them the greater the result
[14:10]just like business if you have a business the more time you
[14:13]spend on your business the greater the profit the same exact thing
[14:17]applies with our children that's why we have to spend time with
[14:19]our children my friends we should not neglect them do you know
[14:23]now in america in america in the us has the highest rate
[14:30]of prisoners in the world and just yesterday or two days ago
[14:34]i was reading something in the news that so many senators and
[14:37]congressmen they want to find a you know a solution to to
[14:40]this huge population of inmates in america what do we do with
[14:43]all these inmates not only is it you know bad for us
[14:47]but it's also costing us because all of you know the all
[14:50]these inmates are being spent on from our taxes so what do
[14:53]we do do you know what's the leading cause to crime in
[14:57]america why do people commit crimes the leading cause to crime and
[15:02]substance abuse drugs is what studies say the leading cause to crime
[15:08]and substance abuse is the absence of the father in the family
[15:12]when there is no guiding father in the family the human being
[15:16]collapses they did a study on those inmates do you know what
[15:20]most of them had in common their father was absent when they
[15:23]were young either because he was dead or because he was in
[15:26]the prisons or because he just abandoned the family and want and
[15:29]found another life to an extent that i read in one statistic
[15:33]that some of the in some of the states in the us
[15:39]90% of up to 90% of the of the juvenile detention center
[15:45]which are all what all youth all young guys that have what
[15:47]committed crimes up to 90% of the inmates of those juvenile detention
[15:52]centers had one thing in common what was it they were raised
[15:56]without a father present the father wasn't there 90% of them had
[16:04]no father the father was dead or was absent from their lives
[16:07]for whatever reason and another statistic i read that said that the
[16:12]rates of teenage pregnancy you know now now if you hear a
[16:16]girl that's 12 years old that gets pregnant it's normal it happens
[16:20]so often a 12 13 14 year old girl that gets pregnant
[16:23]it's it's normal in these days because the parents are absent from
[16:26]the lives of these children do you know that i read a
[16:29]statistic that said the rate of teenage girls getting pregnant is up
[16:35]to eight times higher amongst those girls whose fathers were were absent
[16:39]in their early years do some research just google it you'll find
[16:42]these stats up to eight times higher do you see how vital
[16:47]how important the role of the father is and not just the
[16:49]father the mother but especially the father and that's why this all
[16:53]shows us that we have to spend time with our children we
[16:57]have to get involved do you think these inmates they had the
[17:00]honor and privilege of a father over them telling them what to
[17:03]do guiding them they didn't since their parents didn't raise them the
[17:07]streets raised them the public schools tv raised them and that's what
[17:10]you get all these inmates 90% had no fathers we have to
[17:15]brothers and sisters we have to pay attention to all of this
[17:18]and you'll find statistics say that an average do you know an
[17:23]average mother in the us how many hours does she spend with
[17:27]her child an average month an average mother not the small children
[17:33]but school children mostly and especially teenagers an average mother in the
[17:37]us spends thirteen hours a week only only thirteen hours a week
[17:43]as for the father it's even worth worse the average father spends
[17:48]only seven hours with his child a week so one hour a
[17:51]day twenty three hours he's with his friends and school and tv
[17:56]and sleeping and eating and only one hour with the father but
[18:00]how many hours do we spend on our work statistics state forty
[18:05]five hours that the american spends on work forty five hours a
[18:08]week on work but seven hours with his child and then when
[18:11]we see our children going into crimes and substance we say why
[18:16]do you know why because while i was building my financial empire
[18:22]my child was let loose in the streets i know many parents
[18:28]brothers and sisters masha allah wealthy allah has given them so much
[18:31]wealth but what you find is they have so many problems with
[18:36]their children they have the worst children their sons they grow up
[18:40]he's in the twenties every day there's a problem either it's a
[18:43]financial problem or it's a moral problem or he breaks a law
[18:47]every single day it's a headache but he's a millionaire is he
[18:51]benefiting from his wealth do you know why that happened because while
[18:53]he was busy building and and and accumulating all that wealth his
[18:58]child was being raised by others by the streets by the tv
[19:03]and then we ask why and then once we cut we run
[19:06]into problems we come to the scholars why maulana shaykh sayyid look
[19:09]at my son where were you for fifteen twenty years you were
[19:13]asleep in business and now you come to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[19:16]now that you need him so that's why brothers and sisters it's
[19:21]essential and vital that we spend time with our children one hour
[19:26]a day brothers and sisters is too little i have to spend
[19:29]much more time with my child much more time with my son
[19:32]and my daughter and that's why tonight for the remaining of the
[19:35]minutes i will mention three important steps three practical important steps that
[19:41]we have that we can apply in our lives with our relationships
[19:44]with our children in order to secure that we have children that
[19:48]give us what the comfort of our heart and the joy of
[19:52]our eyes but before i do that please aloud muhammad the first
[20:02]thing that we have to do in order to raise children once
[20:04]again i mentioned this many of you are parents and others they're
[20:09]not parents but one day you will be parents so please these
[20:13]advices that i'm giving you that are all taken from the quran
[20:16]all taken from the hadith keep them remember them that once you
[20:20]have a child apply them so three things that we can do
[20:25]the first thing that we can do in order to ensure that
[20:27]we have good believing practicing children that give us comfort don't give
[20:32]us a headache is what number one develop a good relationship with
[20:36]your children you see many children go grow up in this country
[20:41]and his father or mother are strangers to them especially the father
[20:45]his father is a stranger why because he only sees him one
[20:48]hour a day he doesn't know too much about his father and
[20:51]the father doesn't know too much about his son yes they live
[20:55]under one roof but that's it that's the only commonality between them
[20:59]that's the only common factor they live under one roof but the
[21:05]father is busy busy with his life the son is busy with
[21:08]his life and once you have this once there is no time
[21:13]spent between the father and the son or the father and the
[21:16]daughter or the mother and the daughter what happens is they begin
[21:19]to what drift away from each other until there is a barrier
[21:23]between them there's a barrier between them because the son feels like
[21:27]my father's a stranger and that's why you find many parents many
[21:31]parents one thing that they complain about with their children is what
[21:34]my son or daughter doesn't listen to me i can't impact him
[21:37]his friends they impact him they have an impact on him they
[21:41]influence him but me i have no influence on my children they
[21:44]ask why do you know why because we have no relationship with
[21:47]our children we know nothing about them nothing my his friends they
[21:52]know a lot about him that's why he likes his friends that's
[21:55]why she likes her friends because they spend so much time with
[21:58]them they have so many common features between each other but the
[22:01]father is busy busy with his life the son says he knows
[22:03]nothing about me all all he cares about is his business and
[22:07]unfortunately many parents the only the only you know involvement that they
[22:11]have with their children's life is what number one if the child
[22:14]does something bad they rebuke them and they give them orders do
[22:17]this and do that and obviously this creates what tension between the
[22:22]child and the father the child grows up not loving his father
[22:25]he doesn't know him the father doesn't really show too much love
[22:28]he's too busy with his life with his work and with his
[22:31]friends and i'm too busy with my friends and this is where
[22:35]you see the tension rise that's why i have to take time
[22:37]to spend it with my child every day when we have lunch
[22:41]or dinner together make sure that your child is sitting there speak
[22:44]to him speak to her ask them what did you do today
[22:47]honey what are you gonna do tomorrow ask them about their school
[22:50]ask them about their friends ask them what they like get to
[22:52]know your children to many of us our children are strangers we
[22:57]know nothing about them and likewise our parents are strangers to many
[23:01]of us so we have to create that bond that relationship take
[23:05]them out go to a restaurant go to starbucks and enjoy and
[23:10]and and get to know your child and one of the greatest
[23:14]obstacles i tell you my friends one of the greatest obstacles to
[23:18]this family relationship and not just family relationships but all social relationships
[23:23]today is what what's one of the greatest obstacle to obstacles to
[23:26]relationships technology this technology is smart my friends but unfortunately it's creating
[23:37]dumb people people that all they know is what twenty four hours
[23:41]a day looking at their iphones and their smartphones our children are
[23:46]growing up and they don't even know how to talk do you
[23:49]know why they don't know how to speak because all they do
[23:51]from morning till night tonight till morning they text and they tweet
[23:55]either on facebook or instagram or twitter or i don't know what
[24:00]these new ones that i don't even know about they don't even
[24:03]talk they don't speak all they do is what texting and tweeting
[24:10]as soon as the child comes from home what does he do
[24:14]he quickly rushes into his room he jumps and dives into his
[24:17]device his iphone his ipad his whatever he puts on the headphones
[24:21]and for four hours he zooms out until the battery dies he
[24:24]wakes up listening to music surfing watching youtube whatever you see what
[24:29]kind of a obstacle it's creating he has absolutely no no you
[24:34]know contact with with with his mother with his father with his
[24:38]brothers with his sisters this this device and this is not a
[24:40]problem just for the young ones i mentioned this a few days
[24:42]ago even us the adults many times you see this is so
[24:45]annoying you see some people i mentioned this when they can't find
[24:49]their phones for two minutes they go crazy we go when we
[24:52]go in the bathrooms we have to take our iphones with us
[24:55]when we sleep so many people you see when he's falling asleep
[24:57]he's like this he has his iphone and then it falls on
[25:00]his face and it injures his face how many times do you
[25:03]know that's happened to you and then once we sleep we put
[25:06]it right under our pillow we cannot leave these devices for a
[25:10]single second i remember a couple of months ago i saw a
[25:13]very funny but sad picture it was a picture of a family
[25:18]that was that had gone to visit the grandma it was the
[25:21]father the mother and five children three of them they're a little
[25:25]old and two of them they're younger and the picture you see
[25:29]the they're supposedly visiting the grandma in her house so the father
[25:34]he's on his iphone the mother she's on her iphone the three
[25:37]older children they're on their iphone and the two younger ones they're
[25:39]playing on their ipad and the grandma's just looking like this because
[25:42]she's old she doesn't have a ipad i doesn't know what these
[25:45]are and there it's and it was so funny the comment says
[25:48]know if they would have let her sleep it would have been
[25:49]better they're supposedly visiting her and they're just all on what under
[25:54]under smart devices smartphones so this has become an obstacle we have
[25:59]to put a limit to this brothers and sisters speak speak to
[26:02]one another it doesn't kill to speak to one another instead of
[26:05]sending lol and most of times which is not true you know
[26:09]sometimes you see some people r o f l have you ever
[26:12]seen someone rolling on the floor laughing come on so speak this
[26:17]is number one develop that relationship with your children number two a
[26:22]second important thing when it comes to raising our children is that
[26:29]we have to teach our children about their faith the hadith of
[26:33]rasulullah the hadith of our holy prophet says teach your children three
[26:49]things listen carefully friends this is the hadith of rasulullah our prophet
[26:53]he says teach your children three things the first thing he says
[26:58]teach them to love their prophet our holy prophet muhammad teach your
[27:06]children to love him teach them about their prophet educate them about
[27:11]their prophet number two he says and the love of his family
[27:17]the 12 imams of teach them about educate them educate them about
[27:21]their about their belief system and number three teach them to read
[27:28]quran excuse me unfortunately our young brothers and sisters our children are
[27:35]growing up they don't know how to read quran they don't understand
[27:37]the quran they absolutely do not connect with the quran this is
[27:41]our responsibility and one of the biggest mistakes that we do as
[27:44]parents is what we teach them sometimes but we wait too much
[27:50]we wait too much we postpone too much i say you know
[27:53]what when my son turns 15 years old i'll sit and i'll
[27:56]teach him about the prophet i'll sit and i'll teach him about
[27:59]salah when my daughter is nine or sometimes 15 or 18 i'll
[28:03]teach them about their faith you see in this country how do
[28:06]we treat kids the child is a kid until he's 18 and
[28:10]then the next day all of a sudden there's a sudden transformation
[28:13]he's an adult until he's 17 years old and three hundred and
[28:18]sixty four days he's a little baby there's no responsibility doesn't have
[28:22]to do it but once he turns 18 all of a sudden
[28:24]he's an adult so if i wanna wait until my son is
[28:28]15 and i teach him salah brothers and sisters it's difficult number
[28:31]one the sudden swift transformation is difficult for fifteen years he never
[28:37]prayed all of a sudden you want him to pray five times
[28:39]a day start earlier or gradually for eight years and nine or
[28:43]eleven months he never wore hijab all of a sudden i want
[28:45]her to wear hijab start earlier make it gradual process it's common
[28:48]sense this is number one that's why i should start early number
[28:52]two you find when our children are young they accept what we
[28:57]tell them children when they're three four five years old they respect
[29:00]their parents anything the father or mother tells them they they accept
[29:04]it because they love their parents and that they know nothing better
[29:07]they don't have anyone else to turn to but the more they
[29:09]grow the farther they get from their parents why because they start
[29:13]developing their own beliefs their own ideology so when i tell he's
[29:17]15 17 years old i tell him pray he might not necessarily
[29:19]be convinced because he's he has friends that tell him to do
[29:23]otherwise and that's why we have to take advantage of teaching them
[29:26]when they're young my friends not when they're old when they're old
[29:29]it's too late he's not gonna accept he just wants to rebel
[29:33]the father and the mother are not cool anymore when i'm 16
[29:36]and 17 but when i'm young i accept what my parents tell
[29:40]me so we have to start young we have to start early
[29:43]how early i you ask when do i start and this may
[29:47]come as a surprise to you i tell you start even before
[29:50]the child is born i tell you start even before you get
[29:54]married i spoke about marriage one night and i said the factors
[29:58]that we should base our marriages on if i want to raise
[30:02]a good child i don't begin when he's 18 years old i
[30:05]begin even before marriage when i want to get married i choose
[30:08]the spouse that will be the the good mother for my child
[30:12]i choose the spouse that will be the good father for my
[30:15]child don't just space marriages on love brothers and sisters love fades
[30:18]away make sure that that person is what is a good role
[30:22]model for my child that mother mother and father so i start
[30:25]even before marriage and then once i'm married and once the child
[30:29]is conceived i tell the pregnant mothers you have a responsibility don't
[30:34]wait while you are pregnant there's many things you can do number
[30:37]one never eat because haram food is what it's negative energy and
[30:43]that negative energy goes inside the baby in your stomach and negative
[30:47]energy translate to what translates to negative action so never eat haram
[30:52]food when you're pregnant pregnant never eat haram food at all times
[30:54]but especially when i as a mother am pregnant and number two
[30:59]the second important thing is that always make sure that you always
[31:04]have the quran playing always have quran you know cassette player cd
[31:09]audio of the quran because science has proven that the child can
[31:14]hear after certain weeks certain amount of weeks the child can hear
[31:17]the surroundings and i was reading a a study that was conducted
[31:20]by the university of finland it said it's so amazing and so
[31:25]interesting it said that researchers found that babies who their mothers when
[31:32]they were pregnant that their mothers used to watch soap operas when
[31:37]they were pregnant when they were born these children would be addicted
[31:41]to the melodies of those soap operas can you believe that because
[31:45]they heard it so much constantly they would be addicted to those
[31:48]melodies imagine if that mother instead of the soap opera she would
[31:51]have listened to quran the child would have been addicted to quran
[31:55]and that's why there's a young boy many of you have heard
[31:57]of him he's a sayyid his name is tabatabai he's from the
[32:00]tabatabai family he was five years old he memorized the entire quran
[32:04]i've seen his video in iran so beautifully not only has he
[32:08]memorized the quran now he's much older this is many years ago
[32:11]not only did he memorize the quran at the age of five
[32:14]but he could fully understand the quran they asked his mother one
[32:19]day how did you raise such a beautiful child that he is
[32:22]able to memorize the entire quran it's huge at the age of
[32:26]five she said i started the journey very early ever since the
[32:30]first day i was pregnant nonstop quran quran nonstop quran is playing
[32:34]all the time when i was pregnant when he the child was
[32:37]born i used to take a cassette player and place it by
[32:40]his head when he's sleeping and put it on low volume it's
[32:43]quran quran quran obviously twenty four hours when he's surrounded by quran
[32:47]he's gonna memorize the quran it's common sense so start early my
[32:51]friends and there's a story of one of our by the name
[32:53]of al muqaddas al erdabili this is one of our greatest scholars
[32:57]they asked his mother what did you do what are my what
[32:59]what are some of the things you did and one thing that
[33:02]she mentioned is every time i used to breastfeed my child i
[33:05]used to do before that that we do for salah every time
[33:09]i used to breastfeed my child i used to do so these
[33:13]brothers and sisters don't say oh he's a child he doesn't understand
[33:16]no science is telling us the sounds they affect so i start
[33:21]very early and once the child is born if the child is
[33:26]two or three years old i have to start telling them about
[33:29]about rasulullah you see our children when they're two three four five
[33:33]years old who's their role models superheroes spider man batman superman and
[33:39]these these new superheroes that exist today teach your children that the
[33:43]true superheroes are whom are imam hussein superhero that my little child
[33:50]should always look up to and love is not spider man and
[33:53]batman that's fine but this is all fictional i tell him what
[33:57]the true supermodel the true superhero that you have to look up
[34:01]to is rasulullah is imam ali alaihi salaam is the twelfth imam
[34:06]imam al mehdi these are our role models and once they grow
[34:11]older they still have role models but they change who's the role
[34:15]models of teenagers it's the actors the athletes and the singers who
[34:20]have nothing to give to our youth nothing nothing did they did
[34:24]they teach them about kindness generosity respect of parents altruism nothing they
[34:28]have nothing to teach our children teach your children that you're true
[34:31]role models the holy prophet says your children raise them with the
[34:38]love of muhammad wa'ali muhammad wa'ali muhammad so start the journey at
[34:47]a very early age because if i don't and i let my
[34:51]child grow it's gonna be difficult to change him after this is
[34:55]number two we said number one develop a relationship number two teach
[35:00]them about ahlul bayt from an early age and number three my
[35:04]friends we have to place limits on our children we have to
[35:07]constantly monitor our children because in this world world there are so
[35:13]many dangers that surround our children and we have to protect them
[35:17]and there are three main things that influence factors that influence our
[35:22]children number one school they spend seven to nine hours a day
[35:27]in schools and i tell you my friends i went to public
[35:31]schools here if you have the option of not enrolling your children
[35:35]in public schools instead putting them in private schools do so public
[35:40]schools do not give the best discipline to your children and here
[35:45]in this community you have more than one islamic school i know
[35:49]it may be costly but it's worth the investment so that's number
[35:53]one if i can enroll them in an islamic school do so
[35:56]never hesitate it is worth every single penny that's number one number
[36:01]two is what the second influential factor for our children is friends
[36:06]make sure you know who the friends of your children are because
[36:10]even if you give your children the best discipline and you bring
[36:13]them up in the best way it all it requires this one
[36:16]evil friend that drags him back to what to the evil satanic
[36:22]ways if you bring up your child in the best way but
[36:26]he has a bad friend that bad friend is bad influence how
[36:29]many stories do i know a child a son a daughter this
[36:32]young guy or this young girl they were the best most bright
[36:35]you know students and young people but because of the influence of
[36:38]one person peer pressure it led him to so many evil results
[36:43]so we have to make sure we know who the friends of
[36:46]our children are don't just tell them go and befriend and that's
[36:48]it no make sure who they are scrutinize monitor this is number
[36:52]two and number three is media we have to put a limit
[36:56]on the media that our children are exposed to and by media
[37:00]i mean tv music music should be should not even be most
[37:05]of forms of of the inappropriate music should not even be in
[37:08]our homes tv music social media and surfing the internet do you
[37:14]know statistics states that an average teenager in the us how many
[37:19]hours does he and she spend on media all these four types
[37:23]of media up to seven hours a day up to seven hours
[37:27]a day do we know what our children are watching and seeing
[37:30]many parents are clueless i know because i know the parent is
[37:34]lost and then i i go on those you know social media
[37:37]sites i see what those children are doing do we know what
[37:40]they're exposed to do you think they're gonna teach social media is
[37:43]gonna teach my child salah it's gonna teach solemn do you think
[37:47]the tv is gonna teach my child to respect me i don't
[37:51]think so and that's why we have to make sure that we
[37:55]know what they're exposed to monitor put some limits scrutinized there's nothing
[38:00]wrong with that there's so many dangers in this world we have
[38:04]to always make sure they're what they're on the right path there's
[38:07]so much harm brothers and sisters out there there's so much inappropriate
[38:10]content on the internet make sure your children are not getting access
[38:14]to that and many parents they would be surprised what their children
[38:19]are doing on on social media they have no clue they have
[38:23]absolutely no clue what they're doing on social media i see some
[38:28]children some not children teenagers for example once i went on an
[38:34]account of a girl and it was she was a muhajaba muslim
[38:39]a muhajaba and i see i go on her wall and all
[38:43]she does is flirt with guys and she's wearing the hijab the
[38:46]father has absolutely no clue that's all she does the whole day
[38:50]and not only that but you find she posts so many inappropriate
[38:53]pictures of her i tell this to the sisters if i am
[38:56]wearing the hijab this is a responsibility do not post inappropriate pictures
[38:59]you're wearing wearing the hijab keep it private send it to your
[39:02]friends or girls don't put it in a public post i see
[39:06]so many times wallahi inappropriate pictures that these muhajibas are are putting
[39:10]it's so disturbing and the father the mother they're clueless and then
[39:14]i go on the same girl i go on her about page
[39:16]who's her role model justin bieber and she's a mahajeba does the
[39:20]father know this does the mother know know this i'm not saying
[39:23]that i'm not saying that take away take all this away from
[39:26]him i'm just telling you that play some limits i remember i
[39:30]read in the news a couple of years ago there was a
[39:33]mother who she gave her 13 year old son an iphone but
[39:39]she only gave him the iphone after putting 18 conditions google it
[39:43]mother gives her son iphone with 18 condition it was all over
[39:46]the news she put 18 conditions to the iphone number one it's
[39:50]mine you don't own it you're just borrowing it number two 07:30pm
[39:54]it goes off until the next day i don't know what time
[39:56]number three you can go on such and such inappropriate websites number
[40:00]four up to 18 laws that he had to abide by this
[40:03]is excellent there's so many dangers out there and our children don't
[40:07]know any better so i have to scrutinize and a lot of
[40:10]this i tell you my friends even if it's not harmful it's
[40:13]a waste of time our children waste so much time on the
[40:16]social media you see some people i see some people that you
[40:19]know post pictures and and and post information and stuff on their
[40:24]for example on their facebook account they put so much irrelevant stuff
[40:28]every day 10 posts now i'm eating pizza an hour after now
[40:32]i'm at walmart now i'm taking a shower now i mean with
[40:36]all due respect most people aren't don't even care what you're doing
[40:39]so don't waste your time what am i gonna benefit just so
[40:42]i get 10 likes just so i get a 100 likes that's
[40:44]how low i i go that i'm i'm willing to spend hours
[40:47]just so i get a few likes on instagram and on facebook
[40:50]and on twitter so it's a waste of time and most of
[40:54]it or a lot of it is harmful so we have to
[40:58]place brothers and sisters we have to place the limits if i
[41:02]give my child internet i give him iphone ipad credit card car
[41:07]and i leave him and i'm at work i'm not spoiling my
[41:10]child i'm destroying my child and let me tell you a story
[41:15]and we'll end with this i there was a scholar that i
[41:20]heard the this this story from a scholar here in the us
[41:23]he says that one day a father he comes to me to
[41:28]the office and he's crying i told him why are you crying
[41:31]he says you don't know what happened with my family he says
[41:35]my son turned 18 and he's a very very good man you
[41:39]know a very religious faithful man he says my son turns 18
[41:44]so what do i do i buy him a car a credit
[41:48]card the whole nine yards i give him everything now he's what
[41:50]now he's supposedly a responsible adult i give him everything so he
[41:55]said i didn't have that's what he claims i didn't have problems
[41:58]with my son the next year my daughter turned 18 so now
[42:02]she comes to me and she tells me baba father give me
[42:04]what you gave my brother but he you know he's from middle
[42:07]east we treat girls sometimes different than boys so he tells her
[42:11]my dear daughter he's a boy he can have all that you're
[42:14]a girl so i can't give you so you know the the
[42:17]youth that are brought up in this country no difference so she
[42:20]says she started complaining so much and what made it worse was
[42:23]my wife my wife took her side she started complaining and she
[42:27]started what she started nagging and whining why why is it that
[42:31]you treat your son better than your daughter give her he says
[42:33]i gave up i gave in i gave her everything he says
[42:36]a couple of months after my daughter was being suspicious she comes
[42:42]back late she's not there for dinner she's this and that so
[42:46]he says i decided to spy on her he says i follow
[42:48]her and i see that she has what an unlawful relationship she's
[42:52]she has a boyfriend he says i was about to die how
[42:55]can my i i am such a holy person my father is
[42:58]fulan and fulan in the middle east and my daughter and my
[43:02]daughter goes and does this behind my back with the card that
[43:06]i gave her with the money that i have given her so
[43:10]he says i i did nothing he says i did nothing when
[43:14]i went home she came i told her daughter where were you
[43:18]he says i wanted to lecture her i wanted to yell at
[43:21]her she started yelling at me father how dare you spy on
[43:24]me this and that and and you never asked my brother he
[43:28]says a huge crawl erupted he said i was so angered i
[43:31]took the chair i threw it at my at my wife because
[43:35]he says my wife also took her side again but i missed
[43:39]right away the wife she 911 they call cops and now the
[43:44]children i have no right to see them i can't go close
[43:47]to them and i'm living in hell where did it start brothers
[43:53]and sisters where did the problem start it started from day one
[43:57]where there's absolutely no monitoring monitoring there's there's absolutely absolutely no no
[44:00]laws you just give them everything and you think you're spoiling them
[44:03]wallahi you're not spoiling them this is the exact way that we
[44:06]destroy our kids so if i want to raise beautiful faithful pious
[44:11]children like the children of i follow these steps and i make
[44:18]sure that i teach them about i plant all of this faith
[44:23]and wisdom while they are young only in that way i can
[44:26]have a child like the son of imam hassan al qasim ibn
[44:30]al hassan al qasim ibn al hassan was only 13 or 14
[44:35]years old but he was filled with knowledge he was filled with
[44:39]wisdom it was the night of ashura and i mentioned a few
[44:45]nights ago imam hussein he brought all his companions and he told
[44:49]them look the enemies want to kill me imam hussein the grandson
[44:53]of rasulullah tells them the enemies want to kill me they're not
[44:57]after you so you guys can go leave and then remember i
[45:00]said they turned off the candle he turned it back on none
[45:03]of them had moved amongst amongst the companions of imam hussein and
[45:07]his relatives was al qasim ibn al hassan this young boy he
[45:11]hears his uncle saying that tomorrow all of you will die if
[45:15]you stay so if you want leave so after the imam says
[45:18]that al qasim he comes to his uncle and he asked him
[45:23]my dear uncle he says will i also be killed tomorrow what
[45:31]does the imam tell him what should the imam tell him imagine
[45:34]you had a young 13 year old nephew that may god forbid
[45:39]was afflicted with a with a fatal and terminal disease and the
[45:43]doctor said he's gonna die tomorrow and then that child asked you
[45:46]uncle am i gonna die tomorrow can you tell him yes can
[45:49]you break his arm and tell him you're gonna die tomorrow so
[45:51]imam hussain he doesn't wanna tell him yes you're gonna be killed
[45:53]tomorrow as well because they had no mercy mercy they even killed
[45:56]the six month old child of imam hussain so imam hussain knew
[45:59]even al qasim is gonna get killed but he doesn't tell him
[46:02]that he wants to test his faith so what does he ask
[46:05]al qasim he tells him and he calls him my son because
[46:10]al qasim was an orphan he was the orphan of imam hassan
[46:14]and imam hassan before he died he had entrusted imam hussein to
[46:18]take care of him so he tells him how do you perceive
[46:24]death are you afraid of death look at the answer of al
[46:28]qasim wallahi this beautiful answer of qasim spend millions of dollars on
[46:32]your children you can never plant this much wisdom it's only the
[46:36]love of ahlul bayt the love of allah that brings you such
[46:38]beautiful children you know what qasem says he says yeah this is
[46:45]my uncle if i die for you tomorrow it's sweeter than honey
[46:51]the wisdom of qasim imam hussein is expecting that he might cry
[46:54]he might say why he says if i die for you my
[46:57]uncle tomorrow it's sweeter than honey he's only 13 14 years old
[47:00]imam hussein he hugs al qasim they cry the day of ashura
[47:05]comes many of the companions have been all of the companions have
[47:09]been killed many of the relatives of bani hashem the relatives of
[47:13]imam hussein have been killed alina akbar is killed only a few
[47:16]remain al qasim sees that it is time that he goes to
[47:19]the battlefield and he makes his uncle proud and he makes his
[47:23]grandmother fatima tuzahra proud he goes to his uncle imam hussein my
[47:27]dear uncle give me permission to go and fight these enemies the
[47:31]imam he sees as a young boy and he's an orphan how
[47:34]can he let him go he tells him my dear nephew i
[47:36]cannot let you go forgive me you your your my brother your
[47:40]father imam hassan before he died he told me to take care
[47:43]of you how can i send you to the battlefield to die

[47:57]his uncle proud he wants to go and fight so he starts
[48:01]crying all of a sudden remembers that when he was very young
[48:04]there was a will left to him from his father imam hassan
[48:07]it was a letter and on that letter it was written to
[48:11]al qasim from his father my dear son if a day of
[48:15]great calamity comes by if you feel like it's the worst day
[48:18]of your life open this letter so al qasim he remembers that

[48:25]a letter from imam hassan to his brother imam hussein he's so
[48:28]happy he takes it to imam hussein imam hussein as soon as
[48:31]he sees the handwriting of his brother imam hassan he begins to
