[12:08]law remains tremendous that is why these congregations these conferences or Jamaat

[12:13]or whatever you would like to call them are necessary for us

[12:19]for our children and for Muslims living in the West that is

[12:23]why they are woven into the fabric of our tradition our lascano

[14:36]rasulullah to revive the prophetic institution to which Muhammad is the crowning

[14:42]seal let us come together and recall that the waters of the

[14:46]divine message are warm and that Muhammad was sent to humanity carrying

[14:49]a message of mercy from Allah subhanAllah de let us reflect on

[14:55]the immaculate stature of the holy prophet let us celebrate his magnanimous

[14:58]character and commemorate him as that spiritual Wayfarer who holds before the

[15:04]mountain of truth resigned to the Divine Will serene and exacting with

[15:12]himself spirited and active and active towards the world and always kind

[16:21]privilege to be here with you in this conference I have been

[16:26]asked to give a brief introduction to the ahlul bayt forum and

[16:31]its collaboration with the Muslim group yahoo bait forum is a project

[16:37]at an initiative that was started four years ago here in the

[16:40]Chicago community by the beta and islamic center with a particular purpose

[16:47]and a vision improving the communal space and interactions that we have

[16:55]within our sheee community generally speaking when she Muslims get together throughout

[17:04]the year it is for programs of commemoration of the lies and

[17:12]the sacrifices and the martyrdom of the prophet and his progeny and

[17:19]those are often very meaningful and very spiritual gatherings but it is

[17:26]sometimes difficult to hit all of the targets that we need for

[17:29]our communities in those types of gatherings sometimes there is an element

[17:35]of participation and spirituality and an element of nickel and a bada

[17:48]that for many people seems to be in contradiction or in some

[17:54]conflict with scholarly and with intellectual interests and so we have sometimes

[18:02]the polarization within our community programs on the one hand we have

[18:08]people who would like to take our modulus for example our muharram

[18:12]programs and make them more scholarly more intellectual more of a lecture

[18:21]and that is a very important need for us to be able

[18:27]to learn new material to challenge our assumptions and our habits in

[18:32]order to be able to better understand and eventually better apply and

[18:39]practice our religion but at the same time that is a goal

[18:49]which appeals to a subset of our communities and if we move

[18:55]towards taking our existing communal practices gatherings modulus and turning them towards

[19:03]a more intellectual and a more scholarly bent it might remove us

[19:09]from some of the benefits that we have with those communal institutions

[19:14]where they bring together the broad range of lovers of Ahlul Bayt

[19:22]beyond boundaries of ethnicity education class age and so many other boundaries

[19:32]that exist within society and so the goal of the aloe bath

[19:34]forum was to create a space for those who are looking for

[19:41]scholarly discussions of important islamic topics to be able to engage in

[19:48]those discussions to bring together scholars who have been trained in academia

[19:50]scholars who have been trained in our seminaries and our whois odd

[19:56]and mia and scholars who are familiar with both environments to have

[20:02]that intellectual discussion and interaction with our communities to create a space

[20:10]for those who are looking for it and also to create an

[20:13]appreciation for such discussions among members of our community who may not

[20:20]have had that appreciation or that familiarity before this will inshallah be

[20:25]the fourth session of the ahlul bayt for now for the last

[20:30]several years the Muslim group has also been holding its annual conference

[20:34]in the Chicago area and I think that many of the themes

[20:40]and the priorities that I just described they will be equally familiar

[20:45]to those of you who have been participants and benefited from the

[20:50]Muslim group conference many of you have a long history with this

[20:55]organization much longer than myself and you have benefited intellectually spiritually and

[21:00]in any cases families have come together and grown together through this

[21:07]forum and so it was a natural collaboration for us to want

[21:11]to bring together these two initiatives and hope that both of them

[21:15]will be able to benefit and to perform that intellectual and spiritual

[21:22]and practical service in a much more comprehensive and a holistic way

[21:31]so this year inshallah the a low batt forum will be held

[21:34]in conjunction with the Muslim group and it will be tomorrow on

[21:37]Saturday inshallah we hope that all of you who have come to

[21:42]the conference will be able to benefit from the totality of programming

[21:45]that we have and we hope that the scholarly discussions and the

[21:51]intellectual discussions the workshops and all of the programming and all of

[21:58]the networking and the interactions that we have together they will create

[22:06]for each and every one of us participants speakers guests a deeper

[22:15]understanding and a deeper connection to Islam and to the prophet muhammad

[22:20]salallahu alayhi were on it I firmly believe that it is through

[22:30]our connection to the prophet and our love for the Prophet that

[22:35]will enable us to move from being reactive and passive in society

[22:39]to being able to discover and articulate a proactive and a meaningful

[22:45]message to a community that is looking for spiritual guidance where technology

[22:54]and material advancement seems to have answered many needs that a human

[23:03]has but that has left us in some cases even hungrier and

[23:07]even more desperate for meaning and for spirituality than people may have

[23:12]been without that technology and without that material progress and that answer

[23:18]that cure it lies within the prophetic teachings and within the revelation

[23:26]of our beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustapha sallallahu are they here Ali and

[23:36]so it is an opportune time for us to come together to

[23:41]examine the syrah of the Prophet the practice of the Prophet to

[23:45]reconnect with things that we may have learned in forgotten and to

[23:50]learn new dimensions that we may not have been familiar with before

[23:53]in order to reaffirm our covenant in our connection and inshallah carry

[23:58]that with us after the conference comes to a conclusion and becomes

[24:02]a memory and we continue with our lives once again I would

[24:07]like to thank the Muslim group for the opportunity for this collaboration

[24:11]with the ahlul bayt forum and I hope that it is a

[24:14]collaboration that is both beneficial and that continues in the future and

[24:19]I would like to welcome all of the participants and all of

[24:24]the guests who have joined us and I hope that you find

[24:27]the knowledge and the insight that you have come for during your

[24:30]participation in this conference with Salam alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh I really do

[24:39]want to give a really special thanks to say to the man

[24:44]and a BF and the local Chicago Muslim community for their continued

[24:49]hospitality and support they're always very very very nice to work with

[24:59]muhammad I'm going to give you a really general outline of the

[25:07]programming we have for the conference and if you want more details

[25:10]we do have those conference schedules that were handed out in registration

[25:13]and they also are available and our help to help desk near

[25:18]the elevators in the front lobby but for those of you who

[25:20]are new to the conference we have four basic categories we have

[25:23]prayer which we hold daily three times a day we've been holding

[25:26]congregational prayer morning saltador and as well as automatic up in the

[25:30]evening and I shall not an ostrich Allah we also have our

[25:36]main programming which is English Arabic the ABF will have their programming

[25:40]starting tomorrow as well in Harry's carries ballroom just an FYI that

[25:44]when the ABF are having their programming the Muslim group also has

[25:48]programming as well so is going to be dual programming happening at

[25:51]the same time just look at the schedule for details and you

[25:54]guys can choose which one you'd like to to attend for the

[25:57]youth program age of 7 to 15 that's going to happen in

[26:01]Grand Ballroom right where we ate where we bring a breakfast on

[26:04]the other side so youth program age of 7 to 15 will

[26:08]be there hamdillah we have brother Mohammed Aslam and his team back

[26:10]from Washington and they've developed a really really good curriculum we also

[26:15]brought in and we're very excited about this we brought in Sabah

[26:18]Academy from San Jose California to run our child care program and

[26:21]they've developed a phenomenal curriculum for the three to six year olds

[26:25]it's a really a basically a mini conference and you're going to

[26:30]be seeing throughout the conference the effects and the impacts of that

[26:33]as they begin to present their artwork and hopefully a little recite

[26:37]Asian surprise at the end we also have daily so we went

[26:43]through the food we also have food daily breakfast lunch and dinner

[26:46]served and then finally at the end of the program at nighttime

[26:49]beginning at 9pm we have our entertainment program which will have Hodges

[26:53]article to come and you'll be doing several recite ations we also

[26:56]have baba honey who was an Islamic comedian flying out from LA

[27:02]he is going to be doing a sketch tomorrow and brother time

[27:05]of the same it was also going to be doing a TED

[27:08]talks so to every night 9pm we're going to have our entertainment

[27:10]program here in junior ballroom afterwards we're going to have a youth

[27:15]discussion for say and Meg in the Magnolia ballroom as well so

[27:22]program schedules if you have any questions throughout the conference our help
