[0:01][Music] i [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign and tonight i'm briefly going to
[1:34]share with you the last 10 years of my journey with hussein
[1:39]islamic center peterborough this journey started in 2010 this was a very
[1:47]special year for me and my family because my youngest daughter was
[1:52]born that year however this was also a very special journey because
[1:57]my special journey started with hussein islamic centerpiece i became a member
[2:05]having moved from london to peterborough my children went to madressa in
[2:10]this center they made some of their best friends in this community
[2:14]i made some exceptional friends and almost brothers to me in this
[2:22]community peterborough has always been a very special place for me and
[2:26]for my family i started becoming involved in the community within tablig
[2:32]the english lecture committee and also al-mahdi cadets which is the youth
[2:41]with time in 2015 i had the opportunity and the honor to
[2:49]serve as president of the hussein islamic center peterborough that's when my
[2:55]journey started and it hasn't stopped until today this journey led me
[3:01]to to join the leadership development programme of the council european of
[3:08]jamaat and i have been involved since with various organization and this
[3:13]is all started from peterborough hussein islamic center my first journey to
[3:18]hajj started in this jamaat my first trip to zyarat of imam
[3:24]al-hussein alayhi salaam started from peterborough in fact it was instigated by
[3:30]one of the brothers in the center and this journey has never
[3:35]stopped i still benefit from the people of this community and this
[3:39]is to show you the importance a community center like this place
[3:44]and how we should be all supporting this community center there is
[3:48]a story that i'm going to share with you tonight which is
[3:51]very close to my heart this is a story that i have
[3:55]shared with many people throughout my journey around the world for fundraising
[3:59]for al qaime at the time of rasulullah peace be upon him
[4:03]there was a merchant a date merchant who had died and he
[4:07]had left his will and in his will he had asked rasulullah
[4:13]to distribute all the dates in his warehouse to the poor people
[4:17]of madina rasulullah took the companions and went to the warehouse and
[4:20]tried to fulfill his wish and asked all the companions to donate
[4:24]and give all these boxes of dates amongst the poor people of
[4:28]madina once all the boxes had been donated the companions came out
[4:34]and told rasulullah that we have done every box of dates has
[4:39]been donated rasool allah then walked into the warehouse and on the
[4:45]floor he had found one rotten date he picked that rotten date
[4:48]and told the companions that this one rotten date if that man
[4:53]had given during his lifetime would have been worth more than the
[4:58]entire warehouse in the eyes of allah and this is why today
[5:05]i'm asking you brothers and sisters i'm asking you today to give
[5:11]your date your one date that could help this community this community
[5:15]center that we're working towards that has touched the lives of people
[5:21]like myself like you and many other people that it's continuing to
[5:25]touch and i would like all of us together for the last
[5:28]few nights we have seen two to three thousand viewers regularly i'm
[5:33]asking 1 000 viewers today to give that one date of 10
[5:39]pound each and we can do it all together you can see
[5:41]that number on your screen if you're in the uk please text
[5:47]aq2020 to 70191 and if you're not in the uk then please
[5:52]follow the link on paypal but today make a difference by giving
[5:55]your one date and and make a difference to this community thank
[6:02]you very much wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh [Music] [Music] foreign the discussion concerning
[8:29]mental health no doubt is a discussion that can be approached from
[8:33]an islamic perspective but also a discussion that affects the lives of
[8:38]millions in the world today in the uk alone statistics show us
[8:42]that one in four adults suffers from a mental illness and one
[8:48]in ten children and therefore you find muslim and non-muslims an almighty
[8:54]task to overcome the mental health issues that they face at the
[8:58]moment within the society within which we live unfortunately there is still
[9:05]a stigma talking about one's mental health if now i had an
[9:10]issue with my physical health i'll talk to all my friends about
[9:14]it publicly as if now for example i had an ankle injury
[9:17]or i had a hamstring injury or i even had a broken
[9:22]hand i might whatsapp everybody and be open and talking about it
[9:25]might even joke about it with a few friends even if i
[9:28]had for example cancer i'd probably be open to discussing it with
[9:33]friends and family if i had for example other viruses or other
[9:40]diseases i may still be open physically to talk about them with
[9:44]those amongst my family and my friends this is somewhat different when
[9:49]it comes to mental illnesses when it comes to mental health you
[9:53]find that there's still a stigma that many of us don't open
[9:58]up to each other about some of the tests we face mentally
[10:00]we may open up physically but mentally hardly ever will any of
[10:05]us open up for example about loneliness how many of us sometimes
[10:11]feel that everybody may have a friend circle in our community but
[10:14]no one seems to invite us to any gatherings for example or
[10:19]that you may feel that loneliness for example with your parents not
[10:23]being around you or you may feel that loneliness for example in
[10:28]a country where you've gone abroad to study and now it's taken
[10:32]its toll on you that loneliness is not something that you express
[10:36]to anyone you try to make sure that you give an image
[10:40]or a front that you are not facing any difficulties with that
[10:45]loneliness sometimes there are those who you see publicly who seem very
[10:51]confident but privately are depressed individuals they won't reveal their depression why
[10:54]because either the community will make fun of them if they say
[11:00]that i'm depressed or that no one really has time to talk
[11:03]to them because you find that rarely do we want to talk
[11:08]about each other's thoughts or behaviors or emotions these three are intertwined
[11:13]in the life of every human being either our thoughts or emotions
[11:18]and behaviors can make us become higher than angels or they can
[11:21]make us or lead us to being lower than animals but you
[11:25]find therefore that when we want to discuss something like depression who
[11:28]do you open up to in reality because we live in a
[11:33]society where there's two key areas number one fake it until you
[11:36]make it you don't want to give an impression that you have
[11:41]a mental issue or that you have a mental illness or you
[11:43]have a problem with your mental health you want to give the
[11:48]impression are in line with the rest of the community whether it
[11:51]brings me happiness or not the main thing is that the community
[11:55]thinks i'm happy if i drive the cars that the community has
[12:00]or i live where the community lives then therefore if i take
[12:05]my children to the schools where the community go at least i
[12:09]can show publicly that i'm someone who's keeping up with everybody else
[12:12]privately i may be someone who's facing turmoil in my life i
[12:18]don't know how to open up to people for example about a
[12:21]brother of mine who may have been disloyal to me about a
[12:26]prison sentence that destroyed me about for example a relationship that was
[12:32]broken how many are there in our community a divorce shattered their
[12:37]lives how many of them can open up to people about what
[12:40]it feels like to be a single parent for example or to
[12:43]be somebody who's a divorcee how do you even get back into
[12:49]the community and get that confidence again there are some who are
[12:52]still traumatized for example not just by divorces some who've lost babies
[12:56]and they don't know how to recover either they miscarried at a
[13:00]certain point or there are others who cannot have children who do
[13:04]they open up to many of these their thoughts can sometimes spiral
[13:09]out of control because what we have is two ends of a
[13:12]spectrum mental toughness versus thoughts spiraling out of control these have also
[13:19]a base in islamic psychology the one extreme which is the mental
[13:24]toughness and the other extreme which is thought spiraling out of control
[13:29]have their wording in the quran the problem is when you study
[13:34]psychology today today's psychology is about abnormalities and you go to university
[13:40]and study psychology freud amongst others are the kings whereas when you
[13:45]come to islamic psychology the perspective is one which allows you to
[13:51]understand your human identity allows you to understand why you face such
[13:56]tests what's the meaning of tests what's the meaning of trials because
[14:00]i'm sure there are some who watch this and ask themselves that
[14:04]why is it that i'm always tested i've been tested from a
[14:09]young age i may financially be tested tested with my family members
[14:13]tested for example with my health with my wealth with my education
[14:20]there are many in the world today for example who have lost
[14:22]family members in war as in you see so many from iraq
[14:26]from syria from yemen from afghanistan many in africa many for example
[14:33]in other parts of the world who face post-traumatic stress disorder who
[14:38]in the community do you go to to talk about post-traumatic stress
[14:42]if i saw nuclear weapons or i saw chemical weapons or if
[14:49]i saw torture i saw execution who do i talk to about
[14:52]these things i've got recurring nightmares where i wake up in the
[14:56]middle of the night and remember killing fields remember execution and torture
[15:01]chambers but you find when you want to talk about it our
[15:04]community stigmatize that why are you talking about such things you must
[15:07]be crazy what's wrong with you and so people end up going
[15:11]into a very black area meaning a dark area a dark area
[15:16]where they don't know who to open up to and remember this
[15:19]world the reality of it is where we are is quite arbitrary
[15:25]i'm lucky for example that i grew up in london i could
[15:28]have easily grown up in rwanda i could have easily grown up
[15:32]in a place for example like kabul i could have easily grown
[15:36]up in areas where war has taken place i grew up in
[15:41]london and didn't see what others saw and therefore i am lucky
[15:45]in a way that i did not grow up in an area
[15:47]where i saw war all around me but then how would i
[15:53]recover had i seen these things therefore this discussion of mental health
[15:56]is a discussion fundamental within the religion of islam because there are
[16:00]people whose faith is shaken today either because the community is so
[16:05]judgmental of people with these issues that if you say i'm lonely
[16:10]or i'm anxious or i'm depressed or i feel like i have
[16:14]these issues you want to go to a psychiatrist psychotherapist psychologist a
[16:17]counselor our parents generation in many cases will tell you what are
[16:21]you talking about get on with life stand up whereas a person
[16:26]may not reveal everything they've gone through if i've been sexually abused
[16:31]as a child or i've been molested as a child every time
[16:34]i may come near someone of the opposite gender or i go
[16:39]to people at the workplace these thoughts come back to me that
[16:42]every single time i want to get stronger a lot of these
[16:47]thoughts come back to me so from the one hand you have
[16:49]a group of people in our communities who hate the judgmentalism that
[16:52]when you see me for example not looking as religious as you
[16:56]don't judge me you don't know what i've been through and on
[17:00]the other hand what do you have on the other hand you
[17:04]have that people don't openly talk about this issue and they don't
[17:07]realize that islam as a religion has a wonderful perspective and psychology
[17:14]on mental health and mental illness let us tonight examine the islamic
[17:19]perspective on mental health and i'd like to do this in the
[17:24]following stages number one which story in the holy quran has the
[17:28]most discussion of mental toughness mental anguish as well as difficulties with
[17:36]one's psychological state which has so many lessons for us to learn
[17:41]from number two how did the lady and the story highlight to
[17:45]us that the moment you realize the psyche or the super ego
[17:49]or the self or whatever you want to call it that's when
[17:53]you can begin to progress in fighting many of these illnesses number
[17:59]three why does god test us and what benefits are there in
[18:04]the tests that we face and how did imam allah highlight don't
[18:07]worry the whole cure is within you if only you just realized
[18:11]number four and of that most importance which personalities in the quran
[18:16]opened up to allah about their mental health and wanted their lord
[18:23]to reply back to them for they knew when you are in
[18:28]the darkest places if the whole of humanity leaves you there's a
[18:30]lord who'll never leave you number five and vital to our discussion
[18:36]how can our communities change their perception of mental health number six
[18:41]how can we individually change our perception if we're affected by mental
[18:45]health number seven how can our mosques develop into helping people with
[18:50]issues of mental health number eight how did the rabbab and zainab
[18:55]and the rest of all muhammad recover from the trauma of karbala
[19:00]is it just about listening to a narrative or is it about
[19:06]taking lessons from how to recover from seeing trauma like the trauma
[19:12]of karabakh and finally how the imam says to us that one
[19:18]man in particular showed us that if your self is trying to
[19:20]destroy you you can overcome it even when you're thirsty and cold
[19:26]waters in front of you let's examine this and dissect the topic
[19:29]in complete depth the story in the quran with the most emotion
[19:34]one may argue in terms of mental health anguish and toughness is
[19:40]the story of prophet yusuf alayhi salaam a phenomenal story because we
[19:46]know that that story can easily be made into a film it's
[19:49]no coincidence that the story of nebusha was made into a film
[19:53]because there isn't a human on this earth who cannot relate to
[19:56]joseph's story as in each and every one of us at one
[19:59]stage or another can relate to his story but there are four
[20:04]main protagonists in this story the first point to realize from this
[20:15]story is our prophets and our imams are not robots walking on
[20:20]this earth when we were growing up half the time you always
[20:25]imagined that the prophets and the imams don't have the same tests
[20:29]that we have don't have the same emotional anguish and difficulties don't
[20:33]shed tears or have the grief that we go through and that's
[20:37]why whenever someone told you why don't you be like the imam
[20:39]the response was always but i'm not masoon how many times would
[20:45]you always say that i'm not if you yourself face anguish in
[21:03]your life they face anguish there are unbelievable words of expression of
[21:08]emotion in the story of yousef that each and every one of
[21:13]us has been through what do i mean you have for example
[21:16]in the story of nebu salaam the word sabor how many times
[21:19]does yakub talk of sabron jameel a beautiful patience have you ever
[21:25]said sabron jameel hardly ever does anyone say sabron jameel you normally
[21:30]say listen brother i have sabor have you ever said anyone have
[21:33]a beautiful sabor you have sabron jameel you have that beauty of
[21:39]patience you have grief there's no harm being in a state of
[21:45]grief have patience grief there's what bethy anguish he was in a
[21:50]state of anguish at a certain point what else is there yes
[21:56]despair how many sometimes go through moments of despair because they've been
[22:00]through a traumatic event what else is there karim restraining your anger
[22:04]while you're in a state of grief how many times you want
[22:09]to get angry because of something that's been wronged or you've been
[22:12]wronged in a certain way but you restrain it kareem like imam
[22:16]al-qardam's title the one who restrains his anger while in a state
[22:20]of grief that surah of the quran wanted to highlight something to
[22:25]us that prophets are not just all about the intellect and the
[22:28]thoughts that they have there are emotions in these prophets who came
[22:32]to you as role models because look at what yusuf has to
[22:37]go through in a roller coaster ride of mental health anguish and
[22:41]toughness from the beginning in life who is it that you want
[22:44]to be the most loyal to you your own blood brother isn't
[22:47]that true what hurts you the most in life if your brother
[22:50]lets you down or if your brother is disloyal to you or
[22:54]if your brother skanks you or if your brother stabs you in
[22:59]the back the biggest difficulty right from the beginning of the story
[23:04]of yosef where it's highlighted how his mental health was being tested
[23:08]was when your own brothers don't just want to bully you don't
[23:12]just let you down but they're ready to kill you as well
[23:16]my brother is someone who i look for loyalty in him literally
[23:21]my brother is my backbone my brother if he falls i fall
[23:27]my brother is someone who i always look towards that he'll always
[23:31]be at the front of me the worst feeling mentally for a
[23:36]human is when their own blood brother skanks them isn't that true
[23:38]as in how many times you hear a story in our communities
[23:41]where someone's own brother stole money from them his own brother his
[23:46]own flesh and blood nebuchadnezz first test of mental health and anguish
[23:51]and toughness was what how will you recover if your own brother
[23:53]stabs you in the back will there be a moment where you're
[23:56]ready for example to re for forgiveness for your brother help your
[24:02]brother repent and not just one brother one brother skanking you is
[24:06]one thing when you've got about nine of them skank you there's
[24:09]big trouble because when all of your brothers turn on your back
[24:13]in life all of us what do we look for we look
[24:15]for one brother who's gonna be our everything isn't that true one
[24:19]brother who lay his life down for each and every one of
[24:23]us one brother who'll say that you know what i want to
[24:25]feel what you feel i empathize what you empathize nebusha found so
[24:29]many brothers but he couldn't find one who was loyal to him
[24:35]except binyamin the rest of them you found the rest of them
[24:38]were ready to kill him did this affect his religiosity as in
[24:43]community of turnaround say why me i'm a prophet of god i'm
[24:48]religious because there are many at that moment who will give up
[24:50]there are many who'll say why am i the one getting tested
[24:53]for what reason what have i done wrong i ask you allah
[24:56]why is he getting tested in this way secondly the mental anguish
[25:01]where you are accused of a crime you did not commit how
[25:04]difficult is that he is accused of running after soleika when zolaika
[25:09]blatantly was the one who was running after him at that moment
[25:13]you would give up on the world firstly my own family has
[25:17]let me down they've stabbed me in the back now i'm in
[25:20]a situation where i've got this lady has been running after me
[25:25]her husband walks in all of a sudden i'm the one who's
[25:28]accused on top of that where is a place where most people
[25:34]lose it mentally in prison ask anyone who's been in prison there
[25:36]are some who mentally get destroyed in prison there are many who
[25:41]mentally are strong in prison or who become stronger as the years
[25:46]go on but there are many who prison destroys them listen how
[25:49]many of you have heard of social confinement if you want to
[25:53]kill someone mentally you can keep them there physically but you want
[25:55]to kill them mentally what you do socially confine them why because
[26:01]the human being's mental health improves when they're able to talk with
[26:04]others when they're able to interact with others why do you think
[26:08]human rights campaigns have come forward and said that if someone is
[26:11]in prison you should give them some time to breathe let them
[26:13]have some half an hour one hour even if they're the worst
[26:18]criminal in the world minimum how much half an hour 15 minutes
[26:22]one hour you have to let that human have something nabi yusuf
[26:26]alaihissalam is a prophet of allah subhana wa he is in prison
[26:31]prison normally breaks you he finds that no mentally i'll remain strong
[26:36]not only will i open up to my lord in prison but
[26:40]at the same time i'll help guide others in prison now you're
[26:43]in prison for how long two weeks three weeks four weeks look
[26:48]at the role model when it comes to mental strength because it's
[26:51]not everybody who can have that particular future and our prophets are
[26:55]either role models or they're mythical stories do you agree when i
[26:59]look in the quran either the quran is a book that relates
[27:03]to my life or it just becomes a historical narrative the reason
[27:06]i look at the story and the only story in the quran
[27:12]where the whole story is in one chapter you know many other
[27:14]stories in the quran jump from chapter to chapter this one no
[27:17]one whole chapter why was it one whole chapter i'll come to
[27:22]that shortly you found therefore that when he was in prison it's
[27:25]mentally tough remaining in prison especially when you know you haven't done
[27:28]what you've done if someone has committed a crime and they're in
[27:33]prison then i that person could say listen hands up i stole
[27:37]that thing hands up i killed that person hands up i did
[27:39]this i did that but when you know you've done nothing wrong
[27:43]mentally what goes through your head because surely at that moment you
[27:48]think like mandela thought for so long that i have not done
[27:51]anything wrong they put me years in this prison but where does
[27:53]mandela and others learn from they learn from the stories of those
[27:56]who were imprisoned but to remain strong therefore after coming out of
[28:02]prison another area of mental health is when he meets his brothers
[28:07]years after they stabbed him in the back and were disloyal to
[28:10]him and when they find out that something has been stolen they're
[28:13]like if he steals our younger brother binyamin it's like a brother
[28:17]who was there before him imagine how much pain that is mentally
[28:20]for you when your own flesh and blood in front of you
[28:24]they've not recognized him of course another piece of mental anguish wannabe
[28:27]use of what is it knowing your dad's alive and that you
[28:32]can't see him and that your dad has now become blind how
[28:34]difficult is that for you no prophet one may argue in the
[28:42]quran there is an elaboration of his mental health toughness like nabi
[28:46]yusuf salaam within there likewise his father nabi yakub for any father
[28:52]your mental health is tested if your son dies imagine your son's
[28:56]alive but you can't see him they told their father that our
[29:01]son our brother has died yakub would open up to allah he'd
[29:06]keep talking to the lord he'd keep opening up his grief why
[29:09]having an issue with your mental health doesn't mean you can't cry
[29:13]doesn't mean you can't open up it's not haram for you to
[29:18]open up about your grief and he'd make it clear that i
[29:22]only complain of my anguish and my distress to my lord i'll
[29:27]have sabor look at the key components of this prophet's mental health
[29:32]that's in the wake of everything where he knows his son who's
[29:35]a prophet of allah but he knows that his son has been
[29:40]through so much but he maintains that the only way i can
[29:43]get through this is by trusting my lord that's the only way
[29:47]therefore you have yakub complaining no opening up to allah there's a
[29:53]difference between someone who despairs of god's mercy and someone who knows
[29:59]that their lord is always within distance yakub when he'd open up
[30:04]to allah subhana wa and he says the famous lines when the
[30:07]quran says what is it when the quran says and then when
[30:15]he begins to talk about his anguish to joseph jibril comes to
[30:19]him he says your lord says that even if yusuf and biniyamin
[30:25]are dead don't worry i'll raise them alive go out now and
[30:28]feed the poor at that moment yakub realized that his dad was
[30:31]telling his lord was telling him that do not worry you can
[30:34]open up to me but there are other things that should take
[30:37]your time as well go out serve the poor help the poor
[30:42]this will help build you build your growth understand that there are
[30:46]others who are facing worse than you because one of the key
[30:50]criterias in mental health is when you realize that there are others
[30:54]sometimes in worse situations than you are because sometimes what what can
[31:00]happen to you with wise shaytan can easily tell you you're going
[31:04]through the worst thing ever nobody is going through what you're going
[31:08]through four bedroom semi worth a few hundred thousand pounds with a
[31:11]couple of cars it's not too bad because sometimes when you ask
[31:16]people what are you going through is that bro you know what
[31:18]it's been such a tough year i'm like feeling so depressed depressed
[31:21]about what depressed that you know i just can't get promoted to
[31:25]be vp of this bank that's depression vp of this bank that
[31:28]that's your all there are certain children in the world have to
[31:32]walk three miles to get clean water three miles there are people
[31:37]who have to walk three miles to get clean water your depression
[31:41]is about what you can't be vp of a bank there are
[31:44]others will surround you and say i'm going through such a hard
[31:48]time allah told nabiya let me tell you something if yusuf and
[31:50]binyamin die i'll raise them alive don't worry about that section you
[31:57]go out and feed the poor in your community because when there
[31:59]are people homeless in the street there are people who are poor
[32:05]don't start complaining about your life being difficult when there are children
[32:09]in india begging from the age of three with no hands in
[32:11]the street a person's perspective sometimes is given to us by allah
[32:20]to yahoo that jacob cry to me but go out and look
[32:21]for others and then you'll realize that there are others who face
[32:26]a lot more difficulties than you do so therefore on the one
[32:29]hand never use of allah how many different tests of his mental
[32:32]toughness not physical i guarantee you one-on-one in a punch-up and a
[32:37]fight no one can mess with you but you can have all
[32:41]the biceps in the world it takes moments when you're in prison
[32:43]when you're deep down when you're accused when you're judged that's the
[32:47]test of your mental toughness yusuf one hand yakub the other but
[32:54]who was the main one who opened up for us a world
[32:57]of islamic psychology someone will say wait you've got two prophets of
[33:01]god and you've chosen the lady who was seeking zinna i reply
[33:05]but that lady highlighted something she highlighted the very fact that within
[33:11]you as a human being your major jihad is not the battlefield
[33:15]it's the nephs those lines in saurath yusuf surah 12 53 are
[33:20]the biggest lines and the most important when it comes to understanding
[33:27]our mental thoughts emotions and behaviors why because yeah after he had
[33:33]been put in prison when he got offered the job of being
[33:37]the treasurer of egypt he's like first you go and ask her
[33:39]was it to me who ran after her or was it she
[33:42]who ran after me they said to him we're giving you the
[33:45]best job in egypt he goes no no if i want to
[33:48]take a job in politics i need a track record where there's
[33:52]no black dots on my cv if i enter politics and it
[33:55]turns out that i was that type of person you can always
[33:58]bring it up so first go and find out from her was
[34:04]she the one who was in a psychological state where sensuality was
[34:11]the most important of her concerns in her behavior or was i
[34:15]the one in that state because there's a difference between the one
[34:18]whose psyche or whose id or whose ego or super ego is
[34:24]a servant of their sensuality and materialism and the one whose ego
[34:32]or psyche or soul is a content soul with no immoral desires
[34:35]because one is known as the other is known as nafsel because
[34:44]when you come to study islamic psychology opened it for us what
[34:47]did you say when they said who was it you are yousef
[34:50]she said let me make it clear i'm not going to make
[34:56]excuses for this nafs of mine the whole meaning of islamic psychology
[35:00]is in the concept of the nephs the problem we face in
[35:06]the 21st century is that the soul is now longer part of
[35:08]the human being because the human identity of the of islam is
[35:15]what is that we are made up of intellect and emotion god
[35:17]breathes his spirit into us we have a self that can either
[35:25]be commanding accusatory or in peace those three are the definition of
[35:39]mental health and psychology in islam what do i mean she said
[35:45]um i'm not going to make excuses for myself for my behavior
[35:51]this snaps that i have this psyche it's yearning to do what
[35:56]it wants to go and be servant to its animalistic desires me
[36:01]and an animal what's the difference between us what's the difference in
[36:05]reality an animal eats i eat an animal sleeps i sleep an
[36:12]animal has physical relations i have physical what's the difference between me
[36:16]and an animal if we both eat and we both sleep and
[36:20]we both have physical relations what's the difference i have the intellect
[36:25]i have that ability to reach the highest levels where i'm able
[36:30]to discipline myself i can have willpower that that animal cannot have
[36:34]i can reach the highest level what's islamic psychology islamic psychology is
[36:39]when you develop taqwa god consciousness when you develop a class sincerity
[36:45]when you develop ethical virtues non-islamic psychology is what there are abnormalities
[36:52]in the human being this guy fancies his mother and this one
[36:57]for example loves this and this one is a slave to his
[37:00]sexual desires whereas for us in islam it's not abnormalities it's that
[37:05]you can make the human divine you can make the human reach
[37:09]the highest level zolaika turned around and she said i'm not going
[37:13]to make excuses for myself i recognize that i mentally can be
[37:20]a slave to my sensual desires to my material needs or i
[37:25]can be in the middle stage where i recognize that i do
[37:30]have certain faults but i'll work on them i'll be resilient i'll
[37:34]be forbearance or i can be at the highest stage where i
[37:39]reach a stage where none of the immoral desires will affect me
[37:44]and i'm able to reach a level of control when suleika said
[37:49]this what was doing she was highlighting to us to as muslims
[37:52]that understanding your nephs is vital to your mental health don't we
[37:57]have a statement attributed to the prophet whoever understands the nf's understands
[38:05]their lord because if i understand the snaps of mine i understand
[38:10]that my nephs i'm not just the physical animal walking on the
[38:15]earth i'm someone who has the power of intellect i have the
[38:19]power of desire the power of imagination and the power of anger
[38:22]either my anger or my imagination or my desire destroys me or
[38:29]i allow my intellect to be the captain of the ship of
[38:35]the other three because you know anger imagination destroyer can destroy you
[38:39]mentally your imagination can take you to crazy places mentally i don't
[38:43]care how healthy you look publicly how many of us have had
[38:47]days where we're baffled with our thoughts where you're just like i
[38:50]just don't feel right my head is spinning i'm thinking craziness likewise
[38:55]how many of us have had the desires to do the most
[38:59]immoral things how many of us have had moments of anger where
[39:02]you'd think that that's an animal that's not a human walking when
[39:05]they talk of road rage for example that's not a human anymore
[39:08]road rage is not a human road rage is an animal driving
[39:13]a car because that person is a naps which is yearning to
[39:18]just be a slave of its material or its sensual desires zolaika
[39:24]therefore highlighted for us that in islamic psychology the nephs was vital
[39:29]problem is the 21st century where we live as a society don't
[39:34]talk about immaterial it's all material we are all material whatever the
[39:39]senses can perceive exists something that the senses cannot perceive doesn't exist
[39:43]explain to me something when i have a disease like self-conceit or
[39:48]arrogance boots pharmacy sells pills for that or no i ask you
[39:53]i'm just a human i'm a human who's just physical i have
[39:57]for example the disease of arrogance if i walk into boots tomorrow
[40:00]and i say to them excuse me just uh 10 pills for
[40:03]arrogance if you don't mind the guy will look at me and
[40:06]say listen i know coverts affected many but are you okay i'm
[40:09]like yeah i'm okay because you know i'm i'm an animal and
[40:12]i'm just physical so i have a problem it's called uh takabur
[40:17]and this problem of mine it's a cupboard i need 10 tablets
[40:23]for it'll be like bro we don't give tablets for arrogance okay
[40:25]okay no problem uh i have a problem called ostentatiousness um i'm
[40:29]just a physical animal but there's something called ostentatiousness um can you
[40:34]give me 20 paracetamol for ostentatiousness is that a paracetamol is this
[40:37]doesn't help your ostentatious and what do you mean yeah i'm ostentatious
[40:41]got love for myself i am superior to others i have a
[40:46]problem with rhea islam said there are certain illnesses physical remedies cannot
[40:53]always do the trick i'm not denying let me make something very
[40:56]clear here i'm not someone in the world of psychiatry or psychotherapy
[41:00]and nor am i an expert on the medical side because i
[41:04]believe the medical side has a major role to play in this
[41:05]discussion by the way but if i was to say that islamically
[41:09]speaking we believe that the human can have physical diseases but the
[41:14]human could also have spiritual diseases wonderful work the 40 hadith try
[41:21]and read it look at all the spiritual diseases that you could
[41:25]face those diseases that's what you want to try and cure and
[41:28]he provides you a cure for each therefore when we come to
[41:32]this what do we find we find clearly that islam had a
[41:35]psychological paradigm it wanted us to understand the soul and the development
[41:40]of the soul someone asked the question but say no why test
[41:44]us why does allah test us in this way that i've got
[41:47]to see for example my own brother died in front of me
[41:50]in a car crash that broke me seeing my brother die in
[41:53]front of me in a car crash it broke me allah why
[41:58]test me with that ya allah why test me that i saw
[42:01]my cousin miscarry her child ya allah why on the first level
[42:08]we find that nobody reached the highest levels in any field were
[42:12]they not tested with something one way or the other there are
[42:16]no football players you'll ever see who achieved what they achieved unless
[42:20]they had a major test in their life yes you may look
[42:25]at for example messi ronaldo all of these players you look in
[42:28]their lives there are moments where they're tested but it gave them
[42:32]mental toughness to recover you look as a captain of a ship
[42:35]he'll tell you never would i be such such a good captain
[42:38]unless i went through a major storm you look at someone who's
[42:41]the top of a hedge fund he'll tell you about a few
[42:45]recessions which he was bottom at as well when the quran therefore
[42:49]tests us or islam tests us or the meaning of life is
[42:53]test it's not that i want to test you so you fall
[42:55]to see who's the best in the deeds what are the best
[42:58]deeds that you could come up with because that is building resilience
[43:02]in us those tests are building resilience how many majorities i've given
[43:06]about patience i tell you until i was tested with a moment
[43:11]of patience that word patience had no effect but when i tasted
[43:15]sabor then i could talk about sabbah in a different way how
[43:20]many times you tell someone when you have to go through a
[43:22]moment of sabor and rock bottom you can tell them that listen
[43:26]i've been there it builds a resilience that's in some cases is
[43:30]lacking in humanity today that's on the one hand on the other
[43:34]hand what do you find you find likewise that in the quran
[43:38]and within the traditions that these tests allow us to grow they
[43:43]allow us to develop the quran says each of you will be
[43:46]tested in different areas we're going to test you with moments of
[43:59]fear and with ward moments of hunger don't say it's just me
[44:04]all of us have been through these moments and what loss of
[44:10]wealth loss of lives but god always puts a disclaimer in give
[44:15]glad tidings to those who have sabor my dear brothers and sisters
[44:20]who have mental health issues they may be lonely they may be
[44:24]depressed god in the quran doesn't tell you that you know what
[44:26]give up he says give them glad tidings when they're tested with
[44:29]these things imam used to say that when you're at the point
[44:32]where you think it's not going to work for you that's the
[44:36]point where allah is just about to help you you know when
[44:39]you are your lowest ebb then no allah is just about to
[44:43]help you at that moment is there a better master than a
[44:51]better helper than allah give glad tidings to those who are through
[45:06]those who are patient why when a massa eb why don't we
[45:09]recite massage at the end of majlis when they go through massa
[45:17]ib they go through difficulties and trials they always say that we
[45:27]i want we belong to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and to him
[45:32]we return as my friend says to me i came to this
[45:33]world naked and i leave with one shirt that's the reality of
[45:38]this world those who face further than that the mean one of
[45:46]his signs is that he's tested isn't that true sometimes the sign
[45:51]is there that if you are truly a min you're tested further
[45:54]than that imam allah makes it clear you don't realize that the
[45:59]cure is within you as well you can have many who you
[46:02]talk to but the cure is within you there's these poems which
[46:07]are attributed to him where he says the cure is within you
[46:13]o human but you don't see the disease is within you as
[46:19]well but you don't sense you are the open book who with
[46:24]your letters the unseen can be seen you think that you're just
[46:35]a small microcosm when the whole universe exists within you oh human
[46:40]being imam makes it clear to all of us you're going through
[46:44]these difficulties the cure is within you there is no one else
[46:47]out there who can finish it off unless you have that will
[46:51]and that determination to get through what you're going through firstly that
[46:57]faith and trust in allah i feel sorry yeah and in this
[47:01]21st century how many of these kids are brought up that it's
[47:03]not cool to believe in god it's not cool to have faith
[47:08]no one die here suicides here depression here mental health here issues
[47:14]here nothing is a gift like faith in allah subhanahu wa believe
[47:17]me i always say this my dear brothers and sisters thank allah
[47:25]for the blessing of islam and iman because honestly if it wasn't
[47:33]for us knowing the stories of the likes of yusuf someone says
[47:37]who else apart from yusuf in the quran look how many prophets
[47:40]and non-prophets their mental health their mental toughness is tested you have
[47:46]ladies in the quran who go through difficult moments their health is
[47:50]tested moses is mom you think it's easy to put your baby
[47:52]after you've just given birth to him to in a cradle to
[47:55]go down the river i asked all of you if you told
[47:59]your missus that listen by the way you know our newborn if
[48:01]we could just put him in that lake outside the house um
[48:03]and god will look after him that might turn around to you
[48:08]and mrs what's up what do you want and what you're talking
[48:12]about and she is so emotional she has to hang in allah
[48:15]doesn't like to show us these role models as robots he wants
[48:19]them to show you that it's okay you can grieve you can
[48:23]open up you can talk about your issue don't let the community
[48:29]say to you that this is a stigma talk openly these two
[48:48]these two i don't think we realize how important this line is
[48:52]and discussions of mental health and spiritual psychology don't fear don't grieve
[49:01]a allah when she knows that her son or her sons or
[49:06]her children are going away from her it breaks her heart oh
[49:12]mother of moses now i ask you a question when it says
[49:16]we reveal to the mother of moses an angel came to her
[49:22]or is it that sometimes god tells you don't worry you'll hear
[49:25]my voice sometimes when you're alone she's not a prophet for the
[49:30]angel to necessarily come to although jabra is came to maryam but
[49:35]the quran says don't fear don't grieve how did she know not
[49:40]to fear not to grieve how did you know sometimes god will
[49:43]speak to us we don't realize the voice is the lord's voice
[49:47]if you have that trust that in your most difficult moments you
[49:50]don't despair of god's mercy you'll hear the voice of the lord
[49:56]and the lord will talk to you there's no way allah subhanahu
[49:58]ta'ala would create us and leave us in difficulties without opening up
[50:02]to us and you know who used to face the most mental
[50:05]anguish at times the holy prophet muhammad i know it's hard for
[50:10]people to believe because people see rasulallah as someone who can never
[50:15]be affected sorry i seen my favorite ayah and sorry what is
[50:19]it my favorite ayah and the whole of surat yahseen and i
[50:24]don't know if many people even bother to read the translation sometimes
[50:27]people just read it like a parrot the surah and it's the
[50:31]heart of the quran the heartbeat which ayah do i love don't
[50:40]let their words grieve you it's such a beautiful liar because this
[50:47]man no prophet was hurt like he was imagine you walk in
[50:53]the street people throw feces on your head people pelt you with
[50:59]stones people attack your family people attack your companions people call you
[51:03]a sorcerer they call you a magician they call you a madman
[51:06]you want to learn the meaning of strength in the face of
[51:11]adversity and difficulty believe me that's the man you go to but
[51:14]even he had moments where he felt lonely and allah spoke to
[51:23]him and said don't let their words grieve you my prophet hang
[51:30]in there i'm with you i know it's not easy because how
[51:35]many out there i feel sorry for them allah the community judges
[51:39]them the community slanders them people backbite them people suspect them people
[51:46]ridicule them why do you think allah said i don't forgive backbiting
[51:51]and submission and what and suspicion only the person you've backbit can
[51:56]forgive you why because my lord knew nothing hurts more than when
[52:03]your own flesh and blood are the ones who attack you the
[52:07]holy prophet saw the meccans attack him and attack do you think
[52:11]it was easy for him what do you think rasulallah as a
[52:14]robot just walks around yeah i'm the prophet of god nothing affects
[52:19]me he used to cry alone and allah would talk to him
[52:23]and say fellaini don't worry don't let their words grieve you i
[52:27]love you and i love your family and you will be looked
[52:30]after by me don't ever let their words grieve you someone else
[52:35]say edna what can we do to change the issue in our
[52:39]communities when people have mental health on the first level we as
[52:43]a community have to stop being judgmental if i see now in
[52:47]my community a girl who used to wear hijab she's taken the
[52:49]hijab off i see this straight away what do people want to
[52:54]do oh did you hear did you hear she did this did
[52:59]you i don't know what's the background of our story and nor
[53:02]am i maliki omideen it doesn't make any difference one way or
[53:05]the other if i knew why or i don't know why i
[53:08]know that my religion says make 70 excuses for someone do you
[53:15]agree i see a girl to go back here and the community
[53:17]is like shooting i don't know i don't know what trauma she's
[53:20]been through i don't know what difficulties it may be a moment
[53:24]of weakness all i know is i can say that if you
[53:27]need any support we are here because the only way we're going
[53:30]to tackle mental health is when we're able to talk about it
[53:32]and we're able to be there for each other standing for each
[53:36]other that's for those from the community side someone says okay in
[53:41]terms of those who are going through it what should happen with
[53:45]them firstly when you're going through this mental health issues if i'm
[53:48]only looking at from a religious lens medical lens you have to
[53:52]go to the experts and you should go to the experts but
[53:54]from a religious lens what do we see firstly there is within
[54:00]religious thought discussions about lifestyle changes i know people don't talk about
[54:05]this on mumbai unfortunately lifestyle changes are viton what are you eating
[54:09]how does it affect your psyche what are you drinking how does
[54:14]that you think when our parents brought us up on halal and
[54:17]you think these things don't make a difference when your mother insists
[54:22]that make sure where you eat not is make sure what you
[54:26]eat does not have things which are not good for you these
[54:28]don't just affect the physical they affect your spirituality as well because
[54:33]when the quran for example says let man look as to that
[54:38]which they eat look at that what you're eating look at that
[54:40]which you're giving your children believe you me there's some madness and
[54:42]food at the moment there's many times i've had a donor come
[54:46]up i tell you and i don't know if that's a donor
[54:48]of a lamb or that's a dawn of like some dead squirrel
[54:51]in the street or something honestly now that might be something destructive
[54:56]but these things some of the things we're putting in our bodies
[55:02]can affect us can make us also in a situation where we
[55:04]feel down there are certain foods that actually make you happy i
[55:08]know you guys might think that this is not true and i'm
[55:11]not referring you to munchies or something i'm saying there are certain
[55:15]foods that maybe you can have the quran or the hadith talking
[55:18]about pomegranates grapes believe you me these things which have spoken about
[55:22]they have an effect on us our friends circle lifestyle wise are
[55:28]we with friends who are positive or negative because you've got two
[55:32]types of friends you've got the ones nag knack knack knack complain
[55:35]nag complain nag baba for the love of god chill yeah my
[55:38]bro you know what this is this bro relax honestly i've come
[55:43]across people in my life all they do is complain that's all
[55:50]they do just complain mosque is this timing is this mosque is
[55:55]that this was done wrong this was done wrong this was done
[56:01]wrong this was done wrong this was done wrong yeah i'm sorry
[56:03]this type of person i find it difficult to be around because
[56:05]my mental health i'm going to be destroyed i'm going to go
[56:10]crazy because all i ever hear whereas if i'm around those who
[56:13]are positive bro you know what one of the most spiritual things
[56:14]you could do to a fellow believer muslim or non-muslim and this
[56:19]is within our traditions pat them on the back and say well
[56:22]done i don't think people realize this look our muki here he
[56:26]has cancer how many people in peterborough know that the moki has
[56:30]cancer and i'm sorry that i'm i'm saying it from the pulpit
[56:33]how many how many have gone to sit with them and say
[56:37]mukhi sab you represent the community if you need anything you want
[56:40]us to sit down and so on he might turn around and
[56:45]say i don't want i don't care how tough people look in
[56:47]public sometimes people want someone to put their hand around them and
[56:49]say listen don't worry hang in there try and hang in there
[56:54]so therefore lifestyle-wise look at your friend's circle as well your eating
[56:58]habits further than that also look at even your sleep sometimes maybe
[57:02]sometimes your sleeping is or lack of sleeping can affect you i
[57:07]know there are some of us whose sleep is all over the
[57:10]place hours all over the place but then there are some try
[57:12]and get that sleep in that also affects you also gets into
[57:17]the gym believe you me the release from the gym can make
[57:21]you buzzing and there are some you tell him jim is a
[57:24]bro jim i'm not bothered and so on yeah and even people
[57:26]in my position sometimes people in my position you look at them
[57:29]you're like you're telling me to be healthy mawlana look at your
[57:33]face and so when you're looking at that you're seeing that there
[57:35]is a need also for change of lifestyle in terms of the
[57:38]mosques what could the mosques do the mosques definitely need to have
[57:43]an office for a counsellor for these issues we may be having
[57:50]an office for tariq but there needs to be someone who's a
[57:52]specialist in counseling on this area otherwise we're going to have suicides
[57:57]don't get me wrong we're going to have suicides if we haven't
[58:00]already had suicides we're going to have more cases of difficulties this
[58:05]world that we're living in is a dog eat dog world and
[58:08]in some cases there's no mercy and this mosques cannot just be
[58:12]places for prayers majalis go home they have to be places where
[58:17]you feel that your soul can find peace in an otherwise difficult
[58:22]world and that's why the question of all questions that i ask
[58:26]myself sometimes is that we could talk about one's mental toughness all
[58:32]day but how did they recover from kerbela how do you recover
[58:36]from ashura have you ever asked yourself that question how do you
[58:40]recover from that day because we've missed the point with karabella we
[58:44]narrate the story but there's a major question we need to ask
[58:48]what was it that made them continue to be strong in kufa
[58:54]and jam you're meant to buckle under pressure you're meant to be
[59:00]finished some of them they hung in but it got a lot
[59:02]and it got tough for them i don't doubt what rabbi did
[59:08]after karbala highlights to you as strong as she tried to be
[59:13]there's nothing wrong with admitting that you have certain difficulties six month
[59:17]six-month-old arrow in the neck and you know what she did she'd
[59:23]return back to kerbela you'd think she'd only think about her baby
[59:26]and the narration says that she said remove the roof of my
[59:32]house they said your wife the sun is going to burn you
[59:33]hot sun i said no no i got the faith in my
[59:42]lord i'm strong enough to continue vital that faith in getting us
[59:48]through trials huge trusting god but she said remove the roof from
[59:55]my house can you imagine living in medina with no roof on
[59:59]your house they said why she said how dare i have a
[60:01]roof on the top of my head protecting me from the sun
[60:08]and imam al-hussein had no protection from the sun at kerbela her
[60:11]method of mourning was what holding on to that love for imam
[60:17]allah saying because imam al-hussein is a hospital for our souls how
[60:21]does layla recover how did the ramallah recover how did zainab recover
[60:27]zainab is a mountain in one day you lose your own muhammad
[60:35]abbas hussain you lose all of them in front of you and
[60:36]you still say i thank allah look at that because the biggest
[60:42]and most important thing in helping us with our mental health you
[60:45]know what it is is realizing whatever we're going through it's nothing
[60:51]like caraballa kufancha put me through any trial it's nothing like kerbella
[60:57]will be nothing like kufa and cannot come near sham having stones
[61:02]pelted on your head having people mock you having people curse your
[61:06]father these broke the hearts and especially of all of them when
[61:12]you look at imam zainal abedin you wonder how strong did he
[61:18]remain how imam said and he famously says when they asked him
[61:22]you cry that much and he said about hamza yusuf yaakov cried
[61:28]for him even though yusuf was alive i saw 17 members of
[61:37]my family butchered in front of me at karabakh truly we grieve
[61:41]when we think of sarcasm but how did imam zain al-abdin survive
[61:45]the mental anguish and the grief look at asahi for such idea
[61:52]believe you me we have a gift at home open it it's
[61:57]a lesson of how the soul remains strong in the face of
[62:02]trial for when you're grieving dua when you're in difficulty do out
[62:05]when you're in hardship how many supplications but what have we done
[62:09]with sahih sajjadiya left it at home without opening it we have
[62:11]a treasure which is the selah of the min and the ahmood
[62:15]of the deen and the noor of the sama which is wrote
[62:23]supplications about how to remain strong when you feel lonely despair angry
[62:31]hardship grief that safer is vital to our mental happiness and psychology
[62:36]and even he says that if you want to know the purest
[62:41]soul on the tenth and you want to know the meaning of
[62:44]purity and the meaning of overcoming eagle and the meaning of altruism
[62:53]and the meaning of standing and giving away from yourself even if
[62:58]it gives you pain rahim allah has these lines which explain to
[63:15]you about if a belfast can be explained whatever i go through
[63:18]in life i tell you i'll never go through what hussain went
[63:20]through what abbas went through what akbar went through what zainab went
[63:25]through what kuluthum went through but hussain what did he see he
[63:30]saw the very meaning of backbone what else does everyone just look
[63:47]at me quickly before i enter abel says last lines before he
[63:53]died are all about his mental state his psychological state his spiritual
[64:01]state it's all about his nafs study abbas his final lines is
[64:07]a phd in psychology because imam zen himself says my uncle abbas
[64:14]allah has placed mercy on him for he altruistically gave his naps
[64:18]to his brother how many times abbas looked at the pain in
[64:27]front of him remain strong please my master hussain never says my
[64:31]brother hussain disrespect he felt he felt you can't call imam hussain
[64:38]he says has reached a high level what was the highest level
[64:48]because everyone says why did abbas not fight at kerbela he did
[64:53]but why did he go out one-on-one they say imam al-hussein wanted
[64:58]to highlight abbas you know your biggest enemy and the biggest enemy
[65:02]for anyone in life isn't your shimmers and sads it's if you
[65:06]can have cold water in your hand and not drink it because
[65:12]you're altruistically thinking of others i think abel fard when he got
[65:22]to the river having asked his brother so many times i think
[65:27]when he got to the river and when the water was in
[65:31]his hands i think it was at that moment that he realized
[65:33]now i know why he wouldn't let me go out because the
[65:38]biggest jihad is that of the mental health the mental state the
[65:42]nephs he comes to that water you've got to read the lines
[65:50]in arabic my dear brothers and sisters because in arabic all he
[65:56]does is you've got if you paused karabella you've got abbas and
[66:00]his mental state abbas and his naps me how dare i drink
[66:36]the syrup of cold water while my master drinks the syrup of
[66:40]death nephs you're trying to humiliate me after you there's no revival
[66:48]there's no way you're gonna affect me i'm gonna be stronger than
[66:54]my desire that's the meaning of mental health not letting you get
[66:57]affected he got that water he could hear the cries from the
[67:01]tents he knew sukena and others were waiting he knew zainab was
[67:09]thirsty he knew his imam was thirsty again when he came he
[67:13]made it clear in front of any everyone again he brings the
[67:17]word nephs because he could see these soldiers are gathering and i'll
[67:40]make sure that that reaches he got it now he's got the
[67:48]flasks and now he begins to go back and he's returning back
[67:51]and he could see the tent in his sights and they knew
[67:57]of abbas means that the water is coming back the problem is
[68:03]when the alam gets lower and lower why is the alam getting
[68:08]lower on t it's not as high as it was before all
[68:12]of a sudden one of them shrunk off the right arm of
[68:22]the belfast he called out one [Music] if you cut off my
[69:02]right arm forever this religion and defend an imam a truthful and
[69:13]satan the grandson of the holy pure prophet of god hamas then
[69:20]took the flask so he took the minute to his left arm
[69:24]all of a sudden one of them struck the left arm over
[69:30]the father what did he say when they struck off his left
[69:33]hand yeah [Music] attack me sukena's waiting hussein's waiting zaynab's waiting i've
[70:06]never let any of them down all of a sudden on that
[70:14]moment struck off the right eye of abel normally when someone falls
[70:18]from their horse they fall with their arms in front of them
[70:24]except a belly fat he fell with no arms in front of
[70:31]him that moment what did he do his whole life he knew
[70:33]his brother was always with him look at the difference joseph's brothers
[70:38]wanted to bury him to kill him who say not to now
[70:43]come to maria [Applause] removed why what reason what's going on what
[71:00]is it that abbas wanted to explain there must be something deep
[71:04]down he showed the meaning of loyalty how can i how can
[71:13]i have my head in peace in a moment where will your
[71:16]head be here you place my head in your lap in a
[71:25]moment shimmer will take your head away from me the exchange that
[71:28]then took place breaks our heart every year when i recite it
[71:31]listen to that love that is there with abbas and hussain first
[71:36]imam al-hussein asks him call me just once i want you to
[71:45]call me your brother hussain because always you call me master but
[71:52]what does abbas want from abba abdullah what is it what a
[71:59]request i beg you leave me here i promise to carry no
[72:02]water i've got no water for her when imam al-hussein returned to
[72:08]the tent looked at abba abdullah where's my uncle where's my uncle
[72:18]but for someone else it's the first time she's not seen her
[72:25]brother who was it zaynabil where's my abbas where's my boss tell
[72:34]me show me my advice i beg you show me she went
[72:38]to kufa she had to see abbas head on a spear she
[72:43]went to sham she had to see her boss's head on a
[72:45]spear when she returned to kerbela it was no surprise the first
[72:52]grave she went to was who abel she said by the grave
[72:57]the poet says what she said where were you when they slept
[73:12]for the orphans on the darkest of nights [Music] provide for all
[73:36]of our brethren muslim and non-muslim alike let's allah give them strength
[73:40]with their mental health with their mental illnesses ya allah bless us
[73:45]with the risk of health and allow us to have trust in
[73:50]your message and to follow the path of those whom you have
[73:54]chosen raise us with the imam of our time we pray to
[74:00]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to allow us to be of those who
[74:05]honor abel false this year and every year and to perform his
[74:08]diyarah in the land of karbala we pray to allah subhanahu wa
[74:19]ta'ala but before the loudest of your salawat
