[1:26]gateway to karbala [Music] uh [Music] am [Music] is hardly ever discussed
[2:29]in our communities always when we discuss hijab you'll always find a
[2:33]group of people advising the sisters on hijab or bashing the sisters
[2:37]on hijab and hardly ever do we see discussions about the men's
[2:41]hijab and sometimes the male hijab is what leaves a lot to
[2:45]be desired because although the male's hijab seems to be a lot
[2:48]easier than the hijab that our sisters were we still find that
[2:52]some of us are lacking in our understanding of maintaining that male
[2:57]hijab i'm sure you'll all agree with me that growing up in
[3:00]our communities and growing up in our mosques more often than not
[3:04]you'll hear lectures which are telling the ladies make sure you're wearing
[3:07]proper hijab don't let a single hair out of your hijab why
[3:11]are you for example becoming lazy and the way you're wearing hijab
[3:16]why is your hijab this why is your hijab that okay but
[3:18]how about the hijab of the male because the reality is that
[3:23]if we're going to build a community a moral community there's going
[3:26]to be responsibilities which have to be there for the males and
[3:29]the females to work together to build that moral community if i'm
[3:33]going to come and lecture all the females in the community and
[3:37]tell them do you know about the hijab of salam do you
[3:41]know the hijab of say that and then they're like well why
[3:46]don't you discuss with the guys about the hijab of rasulullah or
[3:49]the hijab of mining someone's like what do you mean the hijab
[3:54]of amir al-mu'min al-islam are you telling me that imam amir al-mu'min
[3:57]al-islam used to wear a hijab when we come to therefore discussing
[4:04]hijab the first area god discussed hijab was in relation to the
[4:10]males but the way we make it sound within our discussions which
[4:13]in reality at times has put many ladies put them off from
[4:19]wearing hijab why because they're like if god in the quran has
[4:22]discussed the male hijab first why is it that you only talk
[4:27]about the female hijab in the lectures why is it that we
[4:31]focus so much on the female hijab in the community or female
[4:34]modesty let's say and we don't talk about male modesty at the
[4:39]end of the day we have a responsibility with our clothing and
[4:42]the sisters in our community have a responsibility with their clothing but
[4:45]we have a responsibility with our social behavior and they have a
[4:48]responsibility to their social behavior unfortunately in the muslim community you'll find
[4:55]that many people stress on the female and her modesty and the
[4:59]female and for example her bashfulness the female and her shyness the
[5:05]female and her clothing without much mention of males in the community
[5:09]and their hijab or their clothing you may have seen sometimes even
[5:13]on social media you look at a friend of yours and on
[5:16]his account you're like that's not the way that i meant to
[5:19]dress as a muslim if at times you may find someone who's
[5:24]not wearing anything if a system the community for example did that
[5:27]straight away will be attacking but when somebody for example poses without
[5:32]their top on on social media you'll find guys will be like
[5:35]bro you look buff bro you look amazing bro wow you look
[5:38]hench bro have you been going to the gym the clear contrast
[5:42]is unfortunate but when you look within the holy quran you find
[5:46]that allah not only addresses male hijab first but allah from the
[5:52]outset makes it clear that both the male and the female are
[5:57]on the same spiritual journey we're not looking at males as higher
[6:01]than females or males as being spiritually greater than females if you
[6:06]look for example my dear brothers and sisters at home look in
[6:08]surah 33 let's begin this discussion on how god makes clear that
[6:15]the male humility and the female humility the male modesty and the
[6:21]female modesty the male protection of private parts and the female protection
[6:26]of private parts are all part of the religion of islam you
[6:28]don't just focus on the female look in surah 33 of the
[6:32]quran verse number 35 here this is one of the most wonderful
[7:22]ayahs because it shows us that god isn't saying the muslim men
[7:27]are the best nobody comes near muslim men don't talk about the
[7:31]muslim men no the muslim men and the muslim women and the
[7:34]believing men and the believing and the obedient men and the obedient
[7:39]and the truthful men and the truthful patient men and patient humble
[7:46]men and humble arms giving men and arms giving fasting men and
[7:53]fasting men who guard their private parts and the woman who got
[8:01]there private parts and then it goes on to say men who
[8:04]remember allah much and woman who remember allah much for them has
[8:10]been prepared forgiveness and a great recompense allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is
[8:16]singling out the woman here in our community or is he saying
[8:18]both of you can reach the same spiritual heights both of you
[8:22]have a responsibility ethically with your private parts the best of you
[8:27]men who guard their private parts the areas which are meant to
[8:33]be the parts where a male hijab is observed and the female
[8:36]has her responsibilities with her hijab as well and so naturally when
[8:40]we think of male hijab the first thing that comes into our
[8:44]mind is clothing what clothing for example are we as men meant
[8:48]to wear and there's an ayah in surat al-araf where allah again
[8:52]is not focusing on just female hijab or female clothing in our
[8:59]communities what do we think about straight away we think about the
[9:02]female and her clothing the female and her hijab in the quran
[9:06]there's this wonderful ayah i love the conclusion of this i am
[9:09]my dear brothers and sisters in surat al-araf surah 7 verse number
[9:16]26 of the holy quran you'll find that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[9:18]opens up a huge section of detail on male hijab especially in
[9:27]what we are meant to wear both physically and in terms of
[9:32]spiritually so if you look in surah 7 verse number 26 bismillah
[9:41]the children of adam are they only females no many adam the
[9:47]children of adam can either be male or they can be female
[9:50]here god again is reminding us don't go to a direction where
[9:57]you single out only the females and you are so articulate we
[10:04]have sent down unto you a clothing that covers your shame covers
[10:10]your private parts covers your decency we have in our discussions in
[10:17]islamic law discussions concerning the aura correct you sometimes hear that this
[10:23]is your aura there's a certain area where different jurors give different
[10:29]opinions but that area is meant to be covered how many times
[10:33]have you prayed salat al-jama and as you're going down and there's
[10:36]someone in front of you you see unfortunately the whole of their
[10:39]backside and you're just thinking this is putting me off whatever food
[10:44]they're going to give after salah i've been put off it's put
[10:47]me off the whole day now i every time i'm going down
[10:53]in turoku this person masha allah the sun is shining from them
[10:56]then every time i go down towards this person and what they're
[11:02]doing they're scampering so you'll see them because they know there's a
[11:05]problem because especially with the type of jeans that us guys wear
[11:07]speaker included the type of jeans the us guys will wear sometimes
[11:11]those jeans are designed in a way where they're just going to
[11:16]be dropping sometimes i remember i remember at school there was a
[11:20]generation that honestly i don't think they ever checked the waist size
[11:25]of the gene because the way the genes used to come literally
[11:29]literally they used to come like below the thigh i don't know
[11:35]if in prisons if you had your jeans down that much if
[11:39]that was giving a hint to other prisoners but one thing i
[11:42]do know is that there was a certain culture in certain societies
[11:45]where they'll walk around and you're like bro can you just lift
[11:50]the jeans just a little because it's not a nice sight for
[11:52]the eyes even you'll find some ladies they'll say to you listen
[11:56]i like the male body but not enough for you to wear
[11:59]jeans that skinny you know wear skinny jeans but wear with a
[12:05]certain limitation maybe a little bit on skinny slim rather than skinny
[12:10]skinny because you'll see some people when they're wearing that type of
[12:14]jean if you're telling the girl you know what you can't be
[12:17]wearing skinny jeans because it reveals yours but if you're wearing jeans
[12:21]that skinny that's a different league and i'm not going to deny
[12:26]sometimes those jeans they look amazing but sometimes when it's coming to
[12:29]a sense of respect and salah and going to the mosque you're
[12:32]looking at yourself and you're like you know what i'm best make
[12:35]sure that i'm wearing a long top because every time i'm going
[12:37]down those genes are going down with me we sent down for
[12:51]you clothing which protects your private parts it protects your private parts
[12:55]it's not to be that clothing which exposes a certain area even
[13:00]if i'm going swimming for example there are certain swimming trunks i
[13:06]can wear which islam allows and there's certain swimming trunks which are
[13:09]not allowed you know if a person is going to go swimming
[13:12]and you'll see that somebody might go swimming with a pair of
[13:16]trunks for example or even go a bit further than that wearing
[13:18]what they call speedos if you wear the speedos then those speedos
[13:23]that you're wearing are not necessarily going to fall into the category
[13:27]yes someone says i'm protecting my private parts a person can use
[13:31]their imagination and realize what is going on in your private parts
[13:34]if you're going to be wearing something like that that is not
[13:37]hijab even though someone is protecting their private parts because someone can
[13:42]say here lebron you are i am protecting my private areas but
[13:45]for us no there is still a recognition of an aura and
[13:49]that's why you'll find that unfortunately within our mosques if a person
[13:55]comes to salah if i look at yasir for example now look
[13:58]at yaser is a prime example of somebody who's wearing a dish
[14:02]dasher sitting in front of me i'm not saying that the dish
[14:04]dash has to be worn 24 7.
[14:05]but at least when he's coming to the mosque for example you're
[14:08]not going to be worried are you about for example your jeans
[14:11]falling but if you're not wearing a distraction how worried are you
[14:14]aren't you sweating sometimes so what happens is that sometimes a person
[14:19]is literally thinking and they're not comfortable subhanallah as a human being
[14:23]even the person whose genes are falling still thinks we're putting them
[14:27]back up it's as if you're programmed as a human being to
[14:30]recognize that as a man there's a certain amount of modesty that
[14:34]i have to observe because what are these discussions of male hijab
[14:37]or female hijab islam as a way of life is trying to
[14:40]regulate a system where we respect ourselves as well as other people
[14:45]that's it if you believe that you have a system for doing
[14:48]it follow your system islam one of its ways was that a
[14:53]person realizes that the private parts there's a certain section let's say
[14:55]above the belly button just above the belly button and just below
[14:59]for example the private areas towards the knees that section over there
[15:03]let's say that is an area that has to be covered an
[15:07]area that has to be protected how many people mentioned this about
[15:12]the male's hijab it's as if our brothers or us guys if
[15:14]we want to go anywhere we're allowed to get away with it
[15:17]why our poor wives are standing at the corner of the sea
[15:19]or the corner of the beach and that's why some people when
[15:22]they look at muslims they're like we don't understand you guys you've
[15:23]gone out for a day out the guy's wearing shorts and his
[15:26]missus is covered up with three layers what's going on over here
[15:30]there's no doubt that the female body is a billion times more
[15:33]attractive than the male but at the same time there is a
[15:38]recognition and this eye of the quran that he benny but we
[15:51]don't also want you to reach a level where you think that
[15:54]the clothing that you wear is clothing that shouldn't beautify you rich
[15:58]what do we mean when we say rish or the feathers or
[16:03]that which adorns you know you see these birds and they wanna
[16:05]they wanna show their beauty don't they and so what you have
[16:11]here is the idea of variation is that the clothes are meant
[16:14]to beautify you as well or sometimes you might say a muslim
[16:16]who's like brother anna i want to maintain my male modesty and
[16:20]to make your maintaining your male modesty but you're looking in bethel
[16:24]as you're walking out of that house sure you're looking an absolute
[16:27]mess there's no harm a person wearing clothing that beautifies them but
[16:31]within limits within limits i for example may see something which i
[16:34]really want to wear it beautifies me but there's a limit to
[16:38]what i'm allowed to wear there may be certain things even in
[16:42]the fashion world today you might see certain things where you might
[16:46]see a top and it's got like 23 holes in it it's
[16:49]a it's a nice tub it might look cool but the the
[16:51]problem is if someone's nipples are sticking out of that top that
[16:54]is not something which is seen as being the modesty that we're
[16:59]expecting and that's why sometimes you hear concepts called shohara libasa which
[17:05]completely stands out of the norm which brings too much attention onto
[17:09]yourself that is also part of male hijab that yes i can
[17:14]wear something which is cool listen i love to see the pieces
[17:16]out there i want to look at what viton has i want
[17:18]to look at what prada has what saint laurent has i want
[17:21]to see what these designers have but sometimes even i will look
[17:26]at some of these gums and say to myself i can't be
[17:29]wearing that that's just it's just not right if i'm wearing that
[17:32]so therefore the quran says we said for your clothing well you've
[17:40]got to protect your private parts okay and what what that which
[17:46]beautifies you but what's the best libas that you could wear is
[17:53]there any hijab company called taqwa there isn't the clothing only it's
[18:01]your mannerism with what you're wearing it's your with other people hijab
[18:06]in itself there could be a hijab of the heart as well
[18:09]it's not just a hijab of clothing you could be a man
[18:13]who wears the best dish dasha ever stitched for mankind but you
[18:16]could be some that same person who's very rude to people you
[18:19]could be a man who's wearing the nicest dish on the history
[18:23]of mankind but you could be someone who causes trouble amongst the
[18:28]people is this consciousness of allah's presence as well that even if
[18:32]i do where does is islam necessarily against wearing something expensive not
[18:36]necessarily you may be an imam like imam al-kaab imam and you
[18:41]might wear something nice you may be a prophet like nabi youssef
[18:44]you might wear something nice but if that which you wear makes
[18:49]you more arrogant than others or makes you look down at others
[18:53]believe you me there are many muslims in the world who wear
[18:57]nice clothing there are many muslims if you go to central london
[18:59]today and you go for example to selfridges or you go to
[19:01]harrods or any of these stores you'll see a lot of muslims
[19:04]but if that clothing that you're wearing is a clothing that makes
[19:09]you look down at others that look what you're wearing is nothing
[19:11]compared to what i'm wearing then you have not achieved the main
[19:14]hijab that main hijab is libaso that is the best hijab that
[19:24]you can wear whether you are a male or you're a female
[19:30]this is for those who are mindful of and we know adam
[20:00]and eve then jenna they had their encounter with shaytan the moment
[20:04]they realized they were naked they covered themselves true humanity from adam
[20:10]and eve's descent into the earth at the beginning weren't wearing much
[20:16]clothes when you see the the depictions you and then we started
[20:21]slowly to wear more and more clothing didn't we until we reached
[20:24]a level in this country 100 years ago where even the ladies
[20:27]were wearing hijab when they leave the house even the queen if
[20:29]i'm not mistaken would either wear hats or sometimes wears a scarf
[20:32]when she leaves the house it's as if the human being the
[20:37]more they covered themselves the higher they were because they had learned
[20:41]from what had happened from adam even we had evolved have we
[20:45]really evolved or are we back to nudity in our world today
[20:49]if you look in some sections of the world it's very normal
[20:54]to have a male model walking in the catwalk virtually naked very
[20:58]normal it's very normal to have imagery of males naked in the
[21:04]world today very normal the sad thing is when it begins to
[21:07]affect the muslim community we thought that as muslims we would recognize
[21:13]that i as a muslim male i recognize that i'm not going
[21:17]to take pictures of myself not wearing a top for example and
[21:21]put it online and posing online with these pictures you would think
[21:26]that because you'd think that there would be a level of decency
[21:28]and yet how many do you see in the muslim world who
[21:31]will say you know the sisters the hijab's bad the sisters have
[21:33]lost their hijab brother how about yours how about yours why are
[21:37]you bashing the sisters the quran said don't fall for what happened
[21:43]when adam and eve his soldiers they can come to you from
[22:00]every angle and they'll tempt you and they'll say to you know
[22:04]what there's no need for you to be modest what's the need
[22:07]for you to be modest enjoy yourself the main thing is give
[22:10]a donation to the mosque for example the main thing is make
[22:13]sure you turn up at certain parts of the election will forgive
[22:16]you everything what was interesting here is that allah took us back
[22:22]to our origin that don't come back to this moment where you
[22:26]were exposed rather you have a male hijab as well and on
[22:29]that point of male hijab you can imagine we're living in medina
[22:32]and when we're living in madina rasulallah is trying to build a
[22:37]society where we have that chastity where we have that modesty amongst
[22:40]the areas of modesty for male hijab for example how many times
[22:44]you see men i've seen this when i go back to iraq
[22:47]for example they'll walk into your auntie's house he literally is open
[22:50]to the yeah baba what are the ladies just going to stick
[22:52]a hijab on their head straight away ya allah ready or not
[22:57]some of them don't even say ya allah and you're looking at
[22:59]him you're like hold on what are you doing here because that
[23:01]that person is not maharam to you so what the quran begun
[23:05]to do was to tell certain men part of your hijab is
[23:07]before you enter someone's house who's not mahram to you step back
[23:11]make sure they're ready look in surah 24 of the quran in
[23:14]surah 24 of the holy quran you see the series of verses
[23:18]which begin to discuss the hijab of the males if our mrs
[23:22]walked into our mate's house and she just walked in like that
[23:27]how many of us would be what you're doing how dare you
[23:28]what type of hijab shut up this that okay the quran said
[23:33]wait how about you guys how are you just walking into your
[23:35]friend's house his sister because you know there'll be some people they'll
[23:38]go to their friend's house and the friend's not there so you
[23:42]know i'm just gonna chill with his missus for half an hour
[23:45]until he comes nah nah nah that's not male hijab that's not
[23:48]male hijab we don't have such a thing because you alone with
[23:51]her shaytan is the third of the three all shaytan needs to
[23:55]do is whisper something to you all shaytan needs to do is
[23:57]whisper something to her and what do we think that we're at
[24:01]that level of taqwa where our shield is able to protect us
[24:03]from being destroyed how many have fallen in that moment many have
[24:07]fallen if you look in surah 24 of the quran verse number
[24:11]27 don't enter houses other than your houses until you have sought
[24:29]familiarity and then you salute the inmates of that house because we
[24:32]in our culture some of us will say allah ya allah before
[24:37]we enter some people will say allah while entering you are entering
[24:45]you are already in there then i know my mother how could
[24:47]you expect her to wear hijab and there are some you'll always
[24:53]have that one cousin he'll enter no yeah allah no nothing you're
[24:56]ready or not here i am there's a male hijab for us
[25:01]as muslims someone says to me you don't understand my second cousin's
[25:05]like my sister bad girl she is like your sister she's not
[25:09]your sister saying you don't understand that person's grown up in my
[25:14]house i've seen a group since the age of six why do
[25:17]i need to say yeah allah your hijab you have to observe
[25:18]it don't worry about her hijab your hijab you have to observe
[25:24]best if the menuna helpers of one another and we want to
[25:27]build a better society then we help one another don't we we
[25:28]call out to one another only a person who has no religion
[25:39]would enter a house without permission would smash a door of a
[25:43]house without permission only a person like that would enter otherwise us
[25:45]we are people who are brought up on this and these are
[25:49]basic moral points by the way that's how much they say this
[25:55]is best for you that's before you enter someone's house not maharam
[25:59]to you okay what happens if i don't find the person i'm
[26:02]looking for ellen if you don't hear a reply saying methylene you
[26:11]know what come in then stay outside or you're like is so-and-so
[26:17]here and they're like no please come in come in you have
[26:21]a hijab you don't want to observe yours i have to observe
[26:23]my hijab and if it said to you because you might get
[26:30]that one lady will say to you uh because you're like can
[26:32]i just come in quickly no you're like really no no you
[26:37]can't come in and so quran says if it tells you go
[26:40]then go it's better for you because you arabs only allah knows
[26:45]what you'll end up doing okay so here what do we have
[26:49]we have the male hijab being shown on a social level but
[26:53]then when we go to verse number 30 this is the main
[26:56]verse in reality to a male hijab okay this verse is very
[27:01]interesting why because the verse after it speaks about female hijab do
[27:05]we agree the verse after is the most famous ayah about female
[27:08]hijab but did allah address male hijabs first or female said male
[27:14]hijab first or the female hijab first male you agree the male
[27:21]hijab was addressed first why is it then us as muslim scholars
[27:26]are always talking about female hijab if you look in surah 24
[27:30]verse number 30 and this verse i'm telling you if there's a
[27:33]verse which is difficult to implement in as a muslim especially from
[27:39]your youth it's this one let's see if you guys agree with
[27:43]me tell the believing men of your community o prophet of god
[27:54]to yahoo men up sarah him to lower from their gaze you
[28:02]see a beautiful girl she walks right across you stunning would you
[28:11]lower from your gaze or you keep staring now you can't lie
[28:18]because you're on tv so you have witnesses from around the world
[28:21]and allah is watching you i'm not going to deny my dear
[28:27]brothers and sisters that if men in some cases did not reach
[28:31]the level of perversion there are some men they'll look but there's
[28:35]some who are literally perversion then we wouldn't have the issues which
[28:40]we always blame the sisters for because their men have their responsibility
[28:46]as well here the quran says first which one can have two
[29:04]types of meanings the first type of meaning of is to lower
[29:10]from your gaze allah is not asking you to walk like this
[29:16]otherwise i'm going to smash my head in every lamp post i'm
[29:20]going to walk into people i'm going to trip over someone's dog
[29:22]yeah if i'm going to walk means lower a part of your
[29:38]gaze means that you know what just lower a little bit when
[29:48]you see someone who's not mahram to you listen your missus you
[29:50]can stare at her 24 7.
[29:54]someone who's not mahram to you that's someone that's someone's misses that's
[29:57]someone's daughter whatever lower your gaze a little one meaning is lower
[30:10]another meaning is soften your gaze there's some guys when they look
[30:25]at girls like this brav this person has virtually honestly with his
[30:46]eyes he's destroyed this girl with his eye where the girl herself
[30:52]from where she is you haven't even touched her but the girl
[30:56]herself feels uncomfortable can you imagine there are some people the look
[31:02]they give is what it's like that bro bro we used to
[31:14]always say that the first look they used to say is allowed
[31:18]so someone used to say okay this my first look because you
[31:23]know they say one of the reasons this ayah was revealed was
[31:26]that there was a person who had seen a stunning lady in
[31:30]arabia and tomorrow when we discuss the female hijab you'll see that
[31:33]at the beginning arab ladies when they were wearing hijab their muslim
[31:37]cleavage area used to show for that arab man when he's in
[31:44]medina at the time he's already gone it's hot he's gone on
[31:52]top of that when the wind comes a little bit of a
[31:59]breeze that what's happening to the arab man he sees her go
[32:03]one way he's following he sees her go another way swallowing he
[32:05]sees her until what happens he doesn't see that there's a pole
[32:08]sticking out of the wall more i'm telling you there are people
[32:12]with their look they can have not a soft look staunch look
[32:17]until whatever's in front of them they lose sight of there are
[32:19]people who crash cars looking at girls who are not madam to
[32:27]them true there are people who crash cars because he's i just
[32:32]crashed the car this person cuts his head when he cuts his
[32:37]head what's interesting is that he comes to the holy prophet peace
[32:41]be upon him and his family he says allah have to admit
[32:43]i rate this guy for admitting because i've read another narration about
[32:45]the reason of the revelation of this verse was that fatherless if
[32:49]i'm not mistaken he was he saw this beautiful lady she's gone
[32:52]one way he's looked another he's gone one way looking looking looking
[32:56]looking won't there's not one look baba you're talking about 36 cuts
[32:59]over here he's looking looking looking until rasulullah just gave him a
[33:04]little one around he's like come here and allah reveals say to
[33:13]the believing men to lower from their gaze or to soften the
[33:19]gaze lower and the idea of from the idea of naksan or
[33:25]lower in the idea of from which angle for example a plant
[33:32]which is soft yes when they talk of a particular nabat they
[33:35]might call it for example it is soft you as a muslim
[33:39]all your looks generally generally should be soft we shouldn't really be
[33:42]having dirty looks whether it's literally or metaphorically literally i shouldn't be
[33:48]looking at someone dirties metaphorically i shouldn't be looking at someone in
[33:53]a dirty way the first understanding was what was you as a
[33:59]muslim your desire shouldn't overtake your intellect your intellect should overcome your
[34:03]desire if your desire overtakes your intellect you and the haiwan there's
[34:08]no difference between them you and the animal there's no difference between
[34:10]you but you have been given that all well atleast all right
[34:17]someone says but what if i want to see her for marriage
[34:19]ah you want to see her for marriage is a different story
[34:21]for a marriage it's not just one look for marriage you could
[34:25]go and chill with her for marriage you could go out with
[34:26]her for marriage you can even oh sometimes our culture is the
[34:30]problem not the religion what our culture gives you a headache when
[34:33]you want to see a girl for marriage we'll show you her
[34:36]picture but we're going to zoom out zoom in we'll take it
[34:39]from a certain baba what am i seeing for the love of
[34:43]god a picture of a prophet of allah all i want to
[34:44]see is this no our daughter doesn't give her pictures away facebook
[34:49]account one show you the facebook account but tell hello i'm trying
[34:53]to show you that if you go to facebook your daughter has
[34:55]more pictures than most i'm not saying that's a problem but you
[34:58]as a parent why are you not allowing someone who's come to
[35:03]propose all he wants to do the poor guy is see the
[35:04]girl before he comes to propose seeing a girl before i propose
[35:10]am i allowed more than one look of course i am so
[35:14]therefore hijab does that mean that the male's hijab is only one
[35:21]look in every context no because i know with my family i
[35:26]could have more than one look with my wife i can have
[35:28]more than one look therefore it's in the context of what in
[35:31]the context where your look is a look of desire your look
[35:36]is a look which takes the desires to the next on a
[35:40]level where it lowers from the self okay say to the believing
[35:53]men where's the ladies why are you attacking all the ladies in
[35:56]the community about hijab when the first ayat are about the men
[36:00]because if their men are perverts if their men are perverted then
[36:03]how what's the point of the lady wearing all the hijab in
[36:07]the world of the men themselves have no modesty say to the
[36:14]believing men they cast down their gaze or they soften their gaze
[36:17]don't look at a person like it's an animal walking and cast
[36:21]down against and they guard their private parts question what's the connection
[36:27]between the look and the private part because the eye drags the
[36:33]heart and once the heart is gone in a direction there's no
[36:36]limit to what you'll do the i i can either use it
[36:44]in do you agree they say that on the day of judgement
[36:46]every eye will cry except three and of those three are those
[36:56]that were opened for the sake of allah i know when i'm
[37:01]using this eye this is a gift by allah for me to
[37:03]do haram with here god is showing that you males your hijab
[37:08]is that this i that i've given you you lower the gaze
[37:13]and not you lowered the gaze you realize that this eye if
[37:17]you let it loose the heart will be dragged if the heart
[37:22]is dragged your desires there is no limit to what will happen
[37:25]because from there you can go into an unbelievable territory because the
[37:29]eye takes snapshots look today at the world of porn you look
[37:35]at the world of porn what's the beginning with i have a
[37:38]look for 30 seconds for a minute and then from there what
[37:43]i've looked at my heart wants to see again until i can't
[37:46]protect my private parts until i'll end up playing with myself while
[37:50]watching porn these things i say because the amount of emails i
[37:57]receive from people who are addicted addicted the quran says because what
[38:05]you're looking at goes here once it goes here it could lead
[38:09]to a direction where you could be destroyed your hijab as a
[38:14]male 1 it's purer for them can i guarantee you by the
[38:24]way that if all of us lowered our gaze and every lady
[38:27]on earth wore hijab can i guarantee you that we would have
[38:30]complete purification and perfection no i can't i can't guarantee that but
[38:35]could we possibly have a healthier society when there is a respect
[38:39]from both the males and the females of course we can we
[38:43]can build on a healthier society when the male is observing their
[38:48]hijab and the female observed theirs therefore in the quran here it's
[38:52]very interesting that allah subhanahu wa the first ayah on the male
[38:55]hijab on the hijab was with the male if you can get
[39:06]past this first 50 the other 50 is easy get past stage
[39:10]1 and 2 which is the men then stage 3 and 4
[39:14]the ladies that's easy but if the men on stage one and
[39:15]two are not doing what their responsibility is then nothing's gonna change
[39:20]but if the men look after what their responsibility is then you'll
[39:23]see has it been applied quranically is there a prophet of allah
[39:30]in the quran he is religious obviously he's a prophet meets religious
[39:33]girls maintains his male hijab has left the land of egypt he's
[39:48]left as a fugitive surah 28.
[39:52]let's go to surah 28 let's see male hijab in action because
[39:56]i always hear about father female hydra says female let's hear male
[40:01]hijab let's see male hijab in the quran let's see its implementation
[40:06]musa alaihissalam is homeless and i'm gonna i'm gonna stress on these
[40:11]things by the way moses is homeless so whenever you see someone
[40:14]homeless soften your heart for them because nabi musa was homeless one
[40:19]day musa is a fugitive on the run because there's someone who's
[40:25]died because of it this person who grew up in the court
[40:32]of farron is now a fugitive on the run is moses single
[40:34]at this stage or married single when we're single all of us
[40:38]wants to look let's and i'll tell you it's a trial it's
[40:41]a trial because in this country london and in the uk or
[40:45]if you're living in america living even in the middle east these
[40:48]days when it's hot how do you lower that gaze you know
[40:51]the only way you could do it it's a major training you
[40:55]know there's some exercises in the gym which you gotta work on
[40:59]so much before you can get to a particular level you can't
[41:00]just do it in one day you gotta stick on that machine
[41:05]for months or months until you can trim down to a certain
[41:08]level i think lowering the gaze for the male it's at that
[41:11]level but part of the male hijab as well was even the
[41:14]beard they would talk about as being part of male hijab maybe
[41:17]muslim was known to have one allah was known to have one
[41:23]part of male hijab was that they'd never wear gold and they'd
[41:26]never wear silk ladies love silk ladies love gold do you agree
[41:29]for a muslim man gold is haram gold cannot be worn why
[41:38]i don't know you can tell me science this is i don't
[41:43]know i said imam assad said gold is haram we're not allowed
[41:46]to wear gold it's funny how people pick and choose which of
[41:50]imam assad they like silk ladies love to wear silk tops they
[41:55]love to wear things made of silk as a muslim man am
[41:59]i allowed to wear silk no that's all under hijab the beard
[42:02]is hijab not wearing silk is hijab not wearing gold is hijab
[42:08]looking after the aura and the private areas and not exposing them
[42:12]is hijab lowering my gaze is hijab protecting my private parts is
[42:17]hijab musa alaihissalam is in the middle of this area and when
[42:24]he comes in the middle of this area the quran says in
[42:28]verse 22 of surah 28 walam you know what's beautiful about the
[42:36]story sometimes if a male has looked after their hijab properly a
[42:41]girl is more attracted to him irrespective of whether he's homeless got
[42:43]no money and is no one known our criteria for someone who'll
[42:51]get accepted for marriage is they should have big money moses is
[42:54]a homeless man in the middle of nowhere he's just prayed to
[43:02]allah allah inshallah you guide me on the right path my lord
[43:05]guide me on the right path where did he arrive to madyan
[43:10]walam and he saw some people what were they doing they were
[43:22]watering their flocks who did he see next to them he saw
[43:31]umrah he saw amongst them two women who were holding back so
[43:40]you can imagine the scene that it's like you imagine like an
[43:44]oasis and there's all these men who are you know acting so-called
[43:47]macho i'm going to get mine bubba you can see there's two
[43:55]ladies what's interesting here moses sees them someone says say it no
[43:58]i thought you can't look at ladies la you can look but
[43:59]not with a look that is a look of temptation and desire
[44:04]where you virtually are destroying that lady just by staring at her
[44:07]like this it's not haram to talk listen i'm at work i'm
[44:09]going to talk to a lady who's a fellow colleague following that's
[44:13]not haram it's the intention behind the look what's going on here
[44:28]what's going on what's happening he's approached them he sees there's two
[44:35]ladies even as a prophet of allah subhanahu wa he has a
[44:38]responsibility if he sees any form of oppression he goes to speak
[44:41]why are these two ladies in our community and you see the
[44:46]problem sometimes in our community especially where we grew up you either
[44:49]went out with a girl or you couldn't even speak to a
[44:53]girl there was nothing in the middle so you either had people
[45:01]who went out with a girl or you had people who never
[45:06]in their life chatted to any girl musa is showing you baba
[45:10]male hijab it's not one extreme or the other i'm not telling
[45:14]you when you see a girl i can't look at you don't
[45:18]talk to me nor am i telling you take every girl out
[45:20]in the whole world what we're saying is that if there are
[45:22]girls or there are sisters there are ladies in our community male
[45:25]hijab dictates a certain amount of bashfulness and respect what we call
[45:31]higher when we talk to somebody true what do they say we
[45:41]can't take any water until the shepherds take their sheep away are
[45:49]they having a conversation yes they are does that mean male hijab
[45:54]means i can't talk to a sister in the community maybe look
[45:56]maybe there are certain traditions which may say you shouldn't start off
[46:00]the conversation this and that but here moses alaihis salaam with two
[46:04]sisters with two girls in the comments talking he said you know
[46:13]what you're telling me the men none of them have shown courtesy
[46:15]and chivalry to you said no none of them he went to
[46:28]a corner my lord what you've sent down onto me is good
[46:31]i still stand in need they according to one narration went home
[46:37]to their father dad he's like how did you guys get this
[46:40]water back you know what there's this man he came with us
[46:44]man you two are wearing hijab yeah he wore hijab as well
[46:53]how on our way to the house we wanted to talk to
[47:02]him and to guide him how to get home he said because
[47:06]i'm not maharam to you i have to wear hijab i have
[47:10]to observe my hijab where hijab means a cloth no you get
[47:14]some pebbles flick them in front of me in the direction towards
[47:19]the house let's keep it at that we don't need to go
[47:21]any further we've already introduced ourselves courteous i've helped you out we'll
[47:25]go to your house one opinion it was then another opinion was
[47:30]no when one of them then told the dad the dad said
[47:32]okay go back and collect him when he came back alone with
[47:36]her because for us as males look when you're alone with the
[47:39]opposite gender everything's going through your head especially if you've you've really
[47:41]wanted to go out with this girl but you also have a
[47:43]hijab to observe like she does and that is not just a
[47:47]clothing there has to be a certain modesty and make sure you
[47:49]don't do haram one of them came one of the two girls
[47:56]came walking bashfully you know sometimes the one who has no sense
[48:01]of modesty whatever one of the two woman came and she was
[48:18]walking what bashfully there was a real hire about the way she
[48:22]was looking after herself the way she was walking the way she
[48:27]was talking but she fell in love with him not because of
[48:31]the fact that he's a prophet she hasn't got a clue but
[48:34]because she saw his male hijab was at a level of perfection
[48:39]there was chivalry male hijab chivalry respect a form of honor khaled
[48:49]my father has invited you so that he can recompense you he
[48:54]can give you back for the water that you've given to us
[48:59]the next verse says the girl because she's seen a male in
[49:06]the community who has that modesty has that decency she wants him
[49:10]for marriage number one can a girl ask for the guy's hand
[49:14]or can only the guy ask for a girl's hand in islam
[49:18]it could go for the guy asked well girl could be a
[49:21]girl ask for the guy number two does she care he's homeless
[49:24]does she care that he's on the run she's seen that maybe
[49:28]he's accused of a crime he hasn't committed or maybe the fact
[49:30]that he doesn't have a house because there's certain circumstances dictating why
[49:34]he could not have a house for example just now she looks
[49:38]at her dad you know that in your ability you can't just
[49:44]translate that as oh my father that is for hob for taking
[49:50]oh my dear father is the al-islam is saying what employ him
[50:12]because he not is strong and is trustworthy he is the strongest
[50:17]i've ever seen and he is the most trustworthy her dad says
[50:20]why strong this he said because i've never seen anyone carry water
[50:25]like that we know don't mess with the size of his arms
[50:28]yep and why was he trustworthy because dad i'm your daughter he
[50:32]could have exploited me he could have done haram with me he
[50:36]could have done anything he wanted if he didn't have that hijab
[50:41]that modesty but dad he brought me to the house full of
[50:44]respect the dad tray away said you want to marry him she
[50:49]said i do moses no money moses no house the dad found
[50:54]within him male hijab he said that's a decent human being i
[50:57]want him in our community even if someone has got good hijab
[51:01]good manners good decency you'll still find people putting 65 conditions before
[51:05]the person gets married in some cases i want you to marry
[51:14]one of these two daughters of mine you worked for me for
[51:19]eight years fairness if i heard that of course from my father-in-law
[51:23]that he says listen you can marry my daughter while you go
[51:25]work for me for eight years i'll tell you the honest without
[51:27]right away because you know look at your father-in-law for an hour
[51:30]is enough but to think that i have to sit with him
[51:33]for eight years every day but he didn't make the caveat you'll
[51:42]find me as one of the righteous people the one interaction of
[51:48]beautiful male hijab with beautiful female hijab led to a man who
[51:53]talked to allah and destroyed the most arrogant emperor the fruits of
[51:59]understanding hijab as a male only allah can reward for there are
[52:05]many traditions that say look at my creation that servant while his
[52:09]desires are guiding him one way he is doing this just for
[52:14]me someone says how do i master this let's say i'm going
[52:16]to go back out in london i'm going gonna get in my
[52:18]car i'm gonna go back out in london on a sunny day
[52:20]in the summer oh i'm on holiday how do i master this
[52:23]sometimes as i said even if you take a pause that one
[52:28]split second moment and you ask yourself what benefit am i gaining
[52:32]from this is there a reality to even this person i'm looking
[52:35]at is this person suited for my lifestyle etc is this the
[52:39]way i should look at another human being am i looking at
[52:41]a human american animal take a pause with training you may get
[52:46]to a level that's better it's a level better than the world
[52:52]view that you had before therefore in our communities let's stop bashing
[52:55]every lady in the world when it comes to hijab and maybe
[53:00]focus more on the male hijab wassalamualaikum allah [Music] yes [Music] am
