[0:28]our respected guests today i'm not here to give you a lecture

[0:36]but give you a speech to sermonize or to preach in all

[0:41]fairness I do not feel worthy to be able to even behold

[0:50]the light that shines from the beacon that is together fatima zahra

[0:56]however I would like to share some thoughts brothers and sisters the

[1:02]issues of the era web are uncountable memorable it would be preposterous

[1:10]to think that in the next five to seven minutes I would

[1:19]be able to even hint at an iota as I heard about

[1:22]the story say you're the father ma the one thing the one

[1:29]words you that stood out to me was that of resilience now

[1:35]I will not define that word for you I believe Google and

[1:38]Wikipedia can do a much better job of that than me however

[1:41]I would say that her resilience is portrayed shown by the fact

[1:51]that a young lady 18 years old with two broken ribs and

[1:55]a miscarriage behind her stood in front of grizzled warriors traitors snakes

[2:03]and hypocrite and spoke for the truth whilst the world stood and

[2:14]watched to say that second of Fatima lived a humble life would

[2:18]be an understatement I feel the dire poverty in describing her situation

[2:22]would would not even do that justice speaking of poverty I would

[2:31]like to speak of some some experiences from my own life that

[2:36]have taught me a lot about this virtue poverty my my brothers

[2:41]and sisters is something it is a challenge like no other still

[2:50]remember when I was fifteen years old I found myself in a

[2:54]poor Muslim village in northern India teaching primary school children how to

[2:59]reach the read the English alphabet I was there for a month

[3:02]I remember one day there was a who had bought a new

[3:13]bicycle and the villagers were so I found it quite funny that

[3:16]these celebrating such a trivial thing upon asking some people I realized

[3:25]that this young brother had been saving for two years to buy

[3:28]a bicycle that would not cost more than a hundred Canadian dollars

[3:32]that my brothers and sisters is much less than your weekly grocery

[3:40]bill at that time I felt pity for this young man how

[3:43]foolish was I once haneda as an international student opting for the

[3:50]grind I realized how foolish I was lies that that young man

[4:03]that Allah had given him he was doing the zan sisters thought

[4:09]that my walk from school or it was too cold outside I

[4:16]would think of the little young children that would walk miles just

[4:20]to get the basic the most basic education how hopeless would they

[4:27]feel and my hopelessness was nothing in that regard and I said

[4:31]to myself if they can do it I can do it brothers

[4:36]and sisters whenever whenever I look at my food and I'm ungrateful

[4:39]I remember the time I spent in the village when those poor

[4:45]people shared starchy lentils and rice with me that I could not

[4:49]even bring myself to swallow made from water from which their buffaloes

[4:54]would drink because they had no access to clean water I would

[4:59]say to myself if they can eat that food and go through

[5:01]life with a smile there is nothing that I have faced that

[5:06]can even remotely compare and if they can do it I can

[5:09]do it and today brothers and sisters tell you I want to

[5:15]read you no matter what it is that facing today be it

[5:21]an examination be it a job hunt whatever it may be you

[5:24]can do it that young lady with two broken ribs and a

[5:34]miscarriage that would hold one hat hold one and every single day

[5:39]till the day she died if she can do it she wants

[5:45]you to do it too why is it that the L bet

[5:49]fought so hard what for to what end didn't the mayas win

[5:57]the war didn't the Abbasids win no brothers and sisters they are

[6:02]eternal losers I have seen the victory of Fatima in my own

[6:05]life as I stand here to speak to you when tided to

[6:12]speak and to address you all my heart stirred and I was

[6:19]not ready had it not been the hand of a brother on

[6:21]my shoulder encouraging me to speak to not listen to my doubting

[6:29]mind to push through and to do the right thing I would

[6:32]not have stood here brothers and sisters as long as we remember

[6:38]her sacrifice and gathered together in a remembrance and stand tall for

[6:41]each other Salah fatima won that day and will win eternally Shalala
