[0:03][Music] mam Muhammad today is the 19th day of the Blessed month
[0:43]of Ramadan and last night was the commemoration of the night that
[0:52]was struck down in the most honorable way and in the most
[1:06]honorable night and doing the most honorable deed at the most special
[1:11]time of the morning and night a man who after he was
[1:18]buried his son alassan stood to the people and reminded them of
[1:24]the merits of who had just passed he said this is a
[1:29]man who when he he would go out into the battlefield jbra
[1:32]was on his right and Mika was on his left and he
[1:39]would not return until he had secured Victory no matter what it
[1:46]took to secure Victory yet his tactics obviously were different than the
[1:52]tactics of his foes and his enemies some people believe that in
[1:55]order to achieve what you want in this in this life uh
[1:59]you must do it by any means necessary and believed a little
[2:08]bit differently when it came to striving for the for the way
[2:11]of God yes by any means necessary but hold to the truth
[2:21]the truth was the standard While others chose nepotism or favoritism or
[2:30]some sort of other favor that they used as a means to
[2:36]achieve what they wanted stuck with the truth and the truth cost
[2:41]him dearly in fact he stated that the truth has left me
[2:47]with no friends you think about how people lose friends these days
[2:51]how do they lose Brothers people argue over money they argue over
[3:00]land and property they argue because of status and position they argue
[3:06]sometimes they lose friends because of meaningless things Petty things fights over
[3:14]conflicts over things that really have no meaning and no substance IM
[3:20]he would say he says create value and honor for yourself how
[3:39]by overlooking and moving beyond the petty arguments that happen between people
[3:44]den den means that which is low this is where the word
[3:50]dun comes from Den the things which are low the things which
[3:52]have no value he says if you want to give honor to
[3:58]yourself stop arguing about the petty things that's how he preserved his
[4:07]honor and integrity were there not enough conflicts for him to get
[4:10]involved in besides the wars the FI the three battles that took
[4:17]place during his his own the last four and a half almost
[4:23]five years of his life which he spent in kufa the first
[4:25]how many years in Mecca 23 years in Mecca another 10 years
[4:32]in Medina during the life of the Prophet after that another 25
[4:37]years during the of you know the first three and then five
[4:44]years himself in in Al kufa there were five battles that he
[4:47]himself fought Jamal andan and this is this was foretold to him
[5:02]by that you will fight three groups of people those that will
[5:09]rebel against you in in one form those that will not accept
[5:12]you as their kff those that were that will rebel against you
[5:16]and fight against you and those that will be part of your
[5:18]group but then will exit the the prophet described them perfectly the
[5:22]three groups that he would fight were there not enough conflict outside
[5:28]of those battles for him to get into personal conf conflicts of
[5:32]course if im Ali was a man of conflict if his life
[5:38]was only about conflict then he would get into every not just
[5:40]the wars he would get into every argument that there was to
[5:46]get into but he said no there there are some there are
[5:48]some battles that you know you have to pick your battles you
[5:53]have to pick your battles some of them are worth pressing forward
[5:56]some of them you have to re-evaluate for him if if it
[6:00]had to do with a personal matter something of the Dunya then
[6:07]he was willing to let go he was willing to step aside
[6:10]he was willing to compromise he saw no value in material items
[6:14]one day he was mending his own sandal he would menend his
[6:19]own sandal and Abdullah Abbas came to him his cousin and his
[6:22]governor for a while and he said to him what they are
[6:27]fighting over is worth less to me than this sandal it's less
[6:29]benefit than this sandal which I can mend with my own hands
[6:33]my sandal actually offers me benefit you know protect my foot from
[6:37]the elements whereas the seat in and of itself means nothing to
[6:45]me the only value that it has is enjoining good in the
[6:48]way of Allah and forbidding evil outside of that independent of that
[6:54]it has no independent value so the battles that he fought over
[6:57]the years the conflicts that he had to overcome and he stuck
[7:05]with the truth he said the truth has left me no friends
[7:10]he said but do not fear the truth you see two paths
[7:17]ahead of you one is truth and one is falsehood the truth
[7:20]is abandoned it's a scary Road it's lonely not a lot of
[7:26]people Traverse on it and those that Traverse sometimes they get weary
[7:30]and they give up because it gets too lonely to be on
[7:34]the path of Truth they want to be where everybody else is
[7:37]they don't want to have to miss out on anything they don't
[7:41]like we don't like the feeling of missing out bomo the fear
[7:45]of missing out which is why we're so swayed when we see
[7:48]people's lives on social media and where they're traveling and the money
[7:51]they're making and all this because we feel like we are missing
[7:57]out we are herd animals we human beings are herd animals unless
[8:01]we decide to step up into a leadership position the prophet peace
[8:07]be upon him said every one of you is a shepherd and
[8:13]every Shepherd is responsible for his flock of sheep you ever seen
[8:20]a flock of sheep you know in the old countries sometimes there's
[8:23]50 100 150 200 of them you know running up the side
[8:29]of a mountain it looks like chaos but you see one Shepherd
[8:31]he's he's able to H them with a cane and with a
[8:34]dog he's responsible for every single one of those sheep if he
[8:40]misses one of them or two of them that could affect his
[8:43]livelihood the livelihood of his family so IM aliam lived a life
[8:51]in a way that was full of reflection and and and and
[8:55]and and and thought and consideration as to what is my legacy
[8:58]and what am I going to leave behind behind what am I
[9:02]actually going to leave behind the Quran says that wealth and children
[9:17]are the zena the adornment of this world just like he said
[9:22]to His companion he said let people multiply let them have children
[9:28]and let them build admirable buildings but let them also know you
[9:33]would do well to know that the former will die your children
[9:35]and the latter will crumble any building that you build no matter
[9:40]how long it's not going to stay for some buildings you see
[9:42]they they last for hundreds of years some of them more than
[9:44]a thousand years but eventually eventually it's going to disappear so the
[9:55]Quran says what you leave behind it's only the adornment of this
[9:58]world what's the Ador of the next World what actually beautifies and
[10:02]contributes to your next World the enduring spiritual Investments that you put
[10:12]in place not the material Investments you can put in a material
[10:15]investment you know the ROI you know how much it's going to
[10:19]give back but the spiritual Investments do we actually know how much
[10:23]it's going to give back or in what way there are times
[10:27]that a person does a good deed in their life and it
[10:31]shows up in their grandchildren's life in their great grandchildren's life do
[10:34]we know where it's going to show up do you know where
[10:38]do we know where guidance is going to come from so each
[10:51]one of us needs to think about our contribution to society IM
[10:56]aliam is honored today because of his contribution to society his contribution
[11:01]to humanity to the cause of justice and wisdom and obedience and
[11:10]subservience is there a better example is there a better role model
[11:18]the prophet peace be upon Him defines to us who the best
[11:20]of people are he says the best of people are the ones
[11:27]that benefit other people and says the measure of every man is
[11:42]based on thean that he does is the benevolence the acts of
[11:45]kindness and charity that you do for others and we have commanded
[11:54]man to do good goodness benevolence primarily number one towards his parents
[12:03]so what is a person's contribution to society other than just their
[12:08]contribution to their self you know as as children they say be
[12:14]careful be careful of your behaviors and your interactions around children why
[12:19]because children they automatically assume everything that happens around them is about
[12:26]them so when they see parents fighting and arguing they think automatically
[12:30]they think I'm the cause and children grow up thinking that they're
[12:33]the cause of their parents arguing or the violence that's in the
[12:36]house and things like that children are very very sensitive they they
[12:39]think everything is about them but as you grow older and the
[12:44]Quran describes this when he reaches that age the the age of
[12:59]40 and of course this is uh metaphorical you know the age
[13:06]of 40 is described as the age that the prophets received most
[13:09]of the prophets received their Revelation at the age of 40 basically
[13:12]the Pinnacle the the the supposedly the climax of wisdom when you
[13:16]can look back at half of your life and you can assess
[13:19]am I the right direction the wrong direction what's happening sometimes a
[13:24]midlife crisis you know things like that so once he reaches that
[13:27]age finally he starts to think it's it's not about me it's
[13:32]about my parents life is not all about me it's about my
[13:35]parents what have I done for others what can I now give
[13:39]to others growing out of things that are just for me and
[13:41]the things that I desire and how I can make money for
[13:45]myself and and benefit myself you know one of the most powerful
[13:48]stories is that of Alfred Nobel if you know his story and
[13:56]how he became to be and the Nobel Prize and you know
[13:58]the Peace Prize and econom comics and all these different prizes under
[14:03]the endowment that he established how it came to be was quite
[14:05]fascinating so uh you know I've shared this story a few times
[14:10]with uh with some communities but it was back in 2007 where
[14:15]myself my father and my brother uh we decided to travel to
[14:21]a few of the Scandinavian countries we went to Sweden and Norway
[14:24]and Denmark and a few of countries and when we were in
[14:26]Stockholm Sweden we were walking around we hadn't really planned what we
[14:33]were going to see but we walked into a museum a Nobel
[14:36]Museum dedicated to a life of Alfred Nobel now I had heard
[14:38]before we had heard that you know he was um the founder
[14:44]of the endowment that you know uh offered the Peace Prize and
[14:49]the uh prize in economics and you know prestigious prizes but how
[14:52]did it actually come to be do you know about the life
[14:56]of Alfred Nobel do you know what he was before he started
[14:57]offering uh p peace well he actually did not start offering the
[15:01]Peace Prize because that came in the 1960s long after he passed
[15:07]away but the endowments that began to offer benefits to people do
[15:11]you know how it came apart Alfred Nobel he came from a
[15:19]family of weapons manufacturers explosives TNT blowing things up people getting killed
[15:28]people getting maimed people losing limbs this is where he made the
[15:31]vast majority of his wealth and he was so notorious in this
[15:35]that certain people began to refer to him as The Merchant of
[15:40]death because that's how he made his money and do you know
[15:43]what happened to The Merchant of death that he changed course and
[15:46]changed Direction he had a brother Ludwig who passed away some French
[15:55]journalists thought that it was Alfred who passed away so he wrote
[15:58]an OB uary in the French newspaper for Alfred Nobel and he
[16:05]named it the title said The Merchant of death is dead so
[16:10]imagine you're Alfred Nobel and one day you wake up you're having
[16:14]your coffee and you read your own obituary he thought it was
[16:17]a joke it was a serious thing but someone had made a
[16:20]mistake he didn't just throw it away he said no no my
[16:23]brother's dead I'm not the one that's dead I'm still alive and
[16:28]well he actually sat and read the obituary and he realized that
[16:31]people were calling him The Merchant of death he didn't even know
[16:33]that people are calling him The Merchant of death what a title
[16:37]and that this is what he's going to be known for and
[16:42]his legacy and he decided at that moment that he's going to
[16:46]change what people will remember him by so he took all of
[16:48]the money he can't go and undo you know you can't undiscover
[16:53]explosives and things like that once you've discovered it but there's a
[16:59]way to minimize the damage maybe reverse some of the damage so
[17:03]he said I'm going to take all of what I've made this
[17:05]Fortune which in those days was the equivalent of millions of dollars
[17:10]and establish an endowment and award people for PRI and give them
[17:17]prizes for breakthroughs in science and medicine and technology and saving lives
[17:23]rather than destroying lives this is how Alfred Nobel came to be
[17:26]in the Nobel Peace Prize not someone who fell from heaven and
[17:29]was a very peaceful person and always had the vision of I'm
[17:33]going to help society and I'm going to do good things no
[17:35]no no it was reading his which one of us will ever
[17:39]get the chance to read our own obituary I mean which one
[17:43]of us will be in this situation where we will become so
[17:45]famous and so notorious for something so dislikable and then we don't
[17:52]even know what people are thinking about us and we have to
[17:55]read our own obituary and it hits Us in the face this
[17:58]is like a one in 10 trillion chance that would that would
[18:00]happen but you actually have the opportunity to read your own obituary
[18:05]IM says he says Be Your Own executor of your own will
[18:15]everyone writes a will and by the way it is highly recommended
[18:18]according to Scholars waj obligatory because the language in the Hadith is
[18:23]very strong on writing a will narrations say that don't go to
[18:28]bed without at least writing will and putting it under your pillow
[18:32]writing a will in Islam is mandatory you must have a will
[18:37]and there are ways to to write one and there are guidelines
[18:39]and that guidance is available for for those that want to do
[18:42]it IM Ali says you be the executive of your will the
[18:46]whole idea we write a will we expect somebody else to come
[18:51]on our behalf and execute on our behalf the prophet peace be
[18:55]upon him one day a companion had had asked the prophet he
[18:58]had said that if I pass away I want you to distribute
[19:02]the dates that I have on my behalf he was a date
[19:07]farmer a date seller and he always had an abundance of it
[19:10]Allah I want you to distribute everything so he does he passes
[19:18]away the prophet gathers the companions they're Distributing and finally they're done
[19:26]at the end of the day the prophet finds half of a
[19:30]date which was kicked into the dirt and he picked it up
[19:37]he showed his companions he said my companions had this man distributed
[19:41]and given just this during his lifetime it would have equaled the
[19:45]reward of everything that we just distributed on his behalf be the
[19:52]executor of your own will he says how do you want people
[20:00]to see you after you're dead how do you want people to
[20:02]distribute your things after you're dead do that in your lifetime before
[20:08]you're dead you be the executor of your will you know sometimes
[20:17]you hear in the news that they open up a will and
[20:21]they're surprised this person has passed away and they open up the
[20:24]will and I remember actually many years ago I think it was
[20:27]maybe 2007 2008 something like that there was a woman in the
[20:31]states some of you probably know her name Leona Helmsley her and
[20:36]her husband had the hotels they were hoteliers and he had died
[20:41]a few years before her you know they she's like the female
[20:44]version of the guy who's in the Oval Office right now you
[20:48]know and she was known she became known in the American Media
[20:52]as the queen of mean she was a very mean individual I
[20:58]actually spoke to people in New York who had had been hired
[21:00]by her and she would pay a lot of money but had
[21:04]a very high turnover rate because nobody could work with her so
[21:08]she would pay double triple what everybody else was paying but get
[21:11]only five six months of work out of someone before they lost
[21:15]their mind the queen of mean she used to say things like
[21:17]you know we don't have to pay taxes let the people who
[21:21]make less than us pay taxes things like that and of course
[21:25]she left behind a fortune and when they open up her will
[21:29]I remember this she had maybe four grandchildren two of them were
[21:33]to receive a certain amount two of them were to receive nothing
[21:36]she had her lawyer who was going to receive a certain amount
[21:42]if he would take care of her little puppy and her puppy
[21:47]a white little puppy she had written in the will was to
[21:49]receive $12 million more than anybody else on that list anybody 12
[21:57]Mill more than any single person on that more than her grandchildren
[22:00]okay and I I guess the guy who's uh her lawyer or
[22:07]whoever is you know handling assets on her behalf gets the money
[22:10]contingent on him taking care of the puppy so the the judge
[22:14]said no no no $12 million is too much I'm going to
[22:15]reduce it down to to only $2 million you know just $2
[22:20]million poor dog that he receives so you see you open up
[22:26]a will and you have no idea what who who's going to
[22:28]what are they going to to leave behind what's going to stay
[22:32]for the family what's not going to stay for the family people
[22:35]getting cheated out of what they think belongs to them all because
[22:39]they put their hopes in this Dunya according to the Hadith when
[22:47]a Believer dies when a person dies the Angels ask the question
[22:51]what did he send forth what did he put forth to meet
[22:55]him everything that we do we're sending forth to meet us before
[22:59]we arrive there the angels are asking what did he send forth
[23:02]because it's our job to assess everything and report to God while
[23:08]the family ask what's he leaving behind you care about what he
[23:11]sent forth what's he leaving behind for us so Imam says be
[23:18]that person do something significant with your life you don't know the
[23:21]one thing that you will do with your life which will change
[23:24]the trajectory of your life and the life of your children we
[23:28]have so many examples look at the example on the day of
[23:33]the example of and now you go toala and you visit his
[23:39]Shrine he's buried in such an honored way his own Zara his
[23:45]own tribute IM Hussein paid tribute to him he loved him he
[23:48]was proud of him all because he decided I'm going to change
[23:54]my legacy with one significant decision the prophet peace be upon Him
[24:03]tells us do not underestimate the power of one you guiding one
[24:06]person you helping one person you becoming the friend of one person
[24:11]the prophet mam one day Allah asked him he said yah Musa
[24:16]what have you done for me Musa says what have I not
[24:23]done for you I grew up as a believer in the home
[24:28]of the Pharaoh when it was most difficult I was willing to
[24:30]defend my people with my life I was willing to become a
[24:34]fugitive and a refugee I was willing to stand in front of
[24:37]the uh magicians when I when I had a stutter and I
[24:43]could not even speak I was willing to do that I was
[24:47]willing to take all the people and cross past the Sea and
[24:52]the most difficult test really was simply just carrying these people around
[24:56]with him B is everywhere that he had to go that was
[24:59]really the most difficult test he says I pray for you I
[25:04]fast I do good deeds Allah subhana wa T said yah mus
[25:08]all of what you have just Li listed is for you so
[25:12]he says then then what can I do that's for you the
[25:17]pro uh Allah subhana wa tala tells Musa he says did you
[25:23]ever befriend someone or become a brother to someone for my sake
[25:26]and you help them for my sake did you ever find someone
[25:32]who is unfortunate someone who has no friend no protector and you
[25:35]be his friend you be his protector says you want to do
[25:38]something for me go do that more than your prayers and your
[25:42]fasting go befriend the person who doesn't have a friend and make
[25:45]them feel welcome this is what you can do on my behalf
[25:49]the prophet peace be upon him said to IM aliam when he
[25:52]sent him to Yemen and I mentioned the story yesterday of how
[25:56]he first sent KH and he was not able to bring anyone
[25:59]to guidance so when he came back he sent he said if
[26:14]you were able to provide guidance to one individual just one of
[26:21]these individuals it is more beneficial to you than everything that the
[26:25]sun shines upon you guys see the sun shining today alh the
[26:28]beautiful weather finally everything that you you see how uh you you
[26:35]see how everything appears in the sun it's like in the dark
[26:40]you you you almost cannot see the landscape or and what's out
[26:42]there all of a sudden the Sun comes and it shows you
[26:46]the details of everything the prophet says to him it's more beneficial
[26:49]to you than everything that the sun shines upon to guide one
[26:55]person guide One Soul save one soul from torment from misguidance IM
[27:03]aliam taught us that the first Battlefield is which Battlefield the battlefield
[27:10]of the what what does the word maidan mean Battlefield he says
[27:19]your first Battlefield is yours if you're able to become Victorious over
[27:30]it then you will be able to conquer and be victorious over
[27:34]everything else and if you fail in this regard then you will
[27:44]fail in every other regard your neps if you can defeat your
[27:49]neps if you if you can overcome your naps and overcoming your
[27:52]nefs first starts with actually knowing your nefs knowing yourself the Hadith
[28:02]says he or she who knows himself shall know their lord God
[28:07]says that you don't have to look far and wide you don't
[28:13]have to go to um the national parks to find me you
[28:15]know some people I talk to them they say I I've I
[28:18]I have to go to a national park I have to go
[28:21]somewhere where there's mountains and oceans and whatnot in order to to
[28:24]find God Allah says I am everywhere he says you want the
[28:30]vessel that contains me the sanctuary that contains me is what the
[28:34]heart of my believer he says that the sky cannot contain me
[28:42]the Earth cannot contain me the bodies of water cannot contain me
[28:46]the only thing that can contain me is the heart of my
[28:52]believer this is where we go to find Allah subhana tala Allah
[29:03]says that we will show you the most profound signs one in
[29:07]the Horizon when you look to the Horizon you see profound signs
[29:10]you see profound things but also within yourself meaning that you don't
[29:14]have to look far and wide outside your everybody's always searching outside
[29:18]for God you have to just look within everything is within you
[29:25]and it all starts from within Allah does not change the situation
[29:34]of a people unless they change that which is within themselves and
[29:38]this is why IM Ali Alam used to tell people during these
[29:43]final years during these final moments he said listen people have I
[29:46]ever told you to do something that I didn't do first when
[29:49]did I ask you to do something that I didn't do first
[29:53]did I tell you to go out into the battlefield without me
[29:58]being the first one to go out did I tell you to
[30:04]pray and give charity give arms help the oppressed go out in
[30:08]the middle of the night go in the early morning at all
[30:10]times of day praise did I ever command you to do anything
[30:15]that I wasn't the first one to do I was always the
[30:19]first one to do then why do you disobey me imagine the
[30:20]irony he says to the people of mua he says your leader
[30:24]look at this irony Your Leader disobeys God and you obey him
[30:31]while I obey God and you disobey me where is the logic
[30:33]in this is there logic in this I'm the I'm the slave
[30:42]of God he says I'm I confirmed the message of the Prophet
[30:45]peace be upon him I believed in him before the early stages
[30:48]of Creation The Prophet says I was a prophet while Adam was
[30:58]in his formative stages between water and Clay IM says I also
[31:07]confirmed the of when Adam was in those formative stages early early
[31:17]years so then our Legacy is defined by what first we have
[31:22]to work on oursel we have to develop oursel IM aliam no
[31:24]matter how busy and he would say this to to Malik he
[31:29]would say this to all of his administrators his Governors no matter
[31:32]how busy you think you are your prime time he says dedicate
[31:42]the time between you and Allah to be the best of times
[31:48]Prime Time not your leftover time says I give my prime time
[31:51]to God and then everything else gets my leftovers and even when
[31:57]I give my leftovers I'm still doing it with Excellence I'm still
[32:02]putting my entire effort into it making sure that I get the
[32:07]job done again there's two meanings to this Hadith the measure of
[32:14]a man is by can mean the good that he does can
[32:19]also mean by what he Masters how well he does something can
[32:24]also mean how well you actually perform a thing he says you're
[32:27]measure is how well you actually do something how much effort do
[32:33]you put into it some people they put you know half effort
[32:35]into something a a fourth effort into something a third effort into
[32:40]something especially sometimes you find um you know if you follow Sports
[32:44]and you find athletes sometimes you find a player an athlete who
[32:51]has a natural gift a natural Talent they're born with it and
[32:55]sometimes because they're gifted they might not work work hard as the
[32:59]athlete who's had to actually develop the skill set from zero because
[33:05]when you actually put in the time and develop a skill set
[33:09]whether you're talented or not you are going to develop a skill
[33:13]but if a person works hard truly works hardan puts their best
[33:18]foot forward this person will surpass the one who is naturally gifted
[33:23]and talented but doesn't work hard you notice sometimes maybe you've worked
[33:28]with someone you've hired someone who's very gifted and talented but they
[33:31]don't want to work hard versus the one who works hard even
[33:35]though they're not very gifted this is why they say hard work
[33:38]hard work beats Talent when talent doesn't work hard if talent doesn't
[33:46]work hard hard work is going to beat it hard work beats
[33:48]Talent when Talent does not work hard work say put in the
[34:01]work Allah will be a witness the Believers will be a witness
[34:06]the prophet and the Messenger will be a witness to the good
[34:11]that you do put your best foot forward according to the narration
[34:16]one day a man asked the prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi Ali wasam
[34:19]he said if I only had one day to live what should
[34:23]I do with that one day what do you think the prophet
[34:26]said stand in prayer stand in fasting he said go seek knowledge
[34:31]go become an enlightened individual even if you only have a Day
[34:36]become an enlightened individual because once you become an enlightened educated individual
[34:42]everything else will improve everything else will improve your relationships will improve
[34:48]your I will improve your God Consciousness will improve when you become
[34:53]an illuminated individual Allah says that we give you an example of
[35:05]two people one is enlightened God has given him light and he
[35:10]has given him life he was dead and he's given him life
[35:15]meaning that he's given him knowledge versus the one who's in darkness
[35:18]in complete darkness and he's trying to find his way out of
[35:23]the darkness and he can't find a way how are these two
[35:25]people equal certainly they're not equal the enlighten individual is not equal
[35:31]to the unenlightened individual according to one narration to reflect to study
[35:45]to learn even for an hour is more beneficial than standing the
[35:54]entire night in prayer it has that value you know for those
[35:57]of you who have performed the Hajj and for those who have
[36:00]not inshallah we ask Allah subhanahu wa tala and this is a
[36:06]Dua actually made in the month of Ramadan for those of you
[36:13]who performed the Haj you would know that there is a certain
[36:19]amount of days that the pilgrim must stay in Mina 3 days
[36:23]that the pilgrim must stay in Mina according to our Scholars however
[36:27]they give the option that you can instead of staying in Mina
[36:32]you can stay in meah in but you must be engaged in
[36:41]worship here's the caveat you must be engaged in worship for either
[36:45]the whole night meaning from to or from Midnight to F half
[36:49]of the night you must be engaged in constant VI if you
[36:55]stay in Mecca or else you go to Mina and simply stay
[36:59]there this is because and what and and what and furthermore they
[37:04]say that what constitutes and worship there's prayers there's there's Dua there's
[37:12]but also one more thing knowledge if you learn learning suffices for
[37:19]in such a precious time in the middle of your Haj Allah
[37:23]subhana wa tala says yes if you want to pause to learn
[37:28]I will count your learning as and that's why one of the
[37:32]years I believe maybe the year that we were together I think
[37:35]one of the nights maybe instead of spending the whole night in
[37:39]I we had a little bit of a Quran class for about
[37:40]two hours you in the middle of that because it's you're gaining
[37:43]knowledge is tantamount to what good is worship without knowledge the world
[37:51]is filled with people who are bobbing their heads back and forth
[37:54]like this but yet where's the enlightenment where where's the advancement where's
[38:00]the prosperity IM when he saw so many pilgrims one time he
[38:08]said there are great numbers but a lot of this is not
[38:12]Haj going on a lot of it is just noise that's happening
[38:17]noise and going in a circle and this was Im so what
[38:20]do our lives count for and what we give our lives this
[38:26]is what wanted this is what he gave his life for this
[38:28]is what he gave his life to the last moments for for
[38:33]us to be enlightened individuals not live in darkness and it was
[38:37]during these nights that he would a night like this that the
[38:42]poison began to set in he was struck down on the night
[38:49]of the 19th by ABD M A Wretched Man Who had been
[38:51]promised marriage to a woman and she said my dowy if you
[38:56]want to marry me is the head of you strike him down
[39:01]so he purchased a sword with a th000 Dirhams and he poisoned
[39:05]it for a thousand Dirhams imagine what type of poison that it
[39:10]costs imagine your you buy a gun and you have buy a
[39:15]bullet that costs as much as the gun because you want to
[39:17]make sure that it does the job and this is what he
[39:21]did for a woman whose family members her father her brother had
[39:25]died as a fighting against IM Ali Al how low and wretched
[39:31]was this individual of the and who were the the had memorized
[39:34]the Quran the all had marks on their foreheads from prostration and
[39:39]they turned against and they said your rule is no longer a
[39:42]legitimate one Ali imagine you're now teaching alali religion imagine how deluded
[39:49]you must be how far from the truth you must be how
[39:54]self-righteous you must be that you're now teaching Al religion it just
[39:59]goes to show the wonders of this world and what is there
[40:03]and inshallah tomorrow night we will commemorate further the life of and
[40:07]mention some of his final words and his final uh directives to
[40:13]his family and the community we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
[40:17]accept oural during this holy month we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[40:20]to bless uh all of those worldwide who are in need who
[40:25]are suffering we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to allow us to
[40:30]continue the good in this month and to accept from us the
[40:33]of this m for
