[0:25]my brothers and sisters there is something very special about these nights

[0:35]that Subhan Allah as soon as I walk into the Masjid I

[0:40]see all of you I can feel your energy and I straight

[0:45]away feel myself being transformed without any intention of my own because

[0:51]of how much love there is inside this room for the IM

[0:55]the chosen of Allah subhah wa taala and that is not something

[1:03]minor and as I'm here I want to take this opportunity to

[1:06]bask in your presence that the lovers of IM Hussein are all

[1:11]around you everywhere here I know we're all squeezed up but subh

[1:16]Subhan Allah all of us are here because of our love for

[1:18]the IM and you start to feel love for each other and

[1:21]you want to help each other you might not even know each

[1:23]other's names this is a beautiful opportunity given to us by husse

[1:30]Alam the way he makes us all feel like family and then

[1:32]we look at his words the words I mentioned yesterday those spiritual

[1:36]words that he speaks to Allah subhah wa ta'ala showing us that

[1:43]it is possible to combine being a warrior whilst being a man

[1:49]of spirit that the general and Warrior AB abdah on the battle

[1:56]field no fear against 30,000 alone also speaks words to Allah where

[2:00]he is is completely weak and has nothing and gives himself completely

[2:04]to Allah in his words you see in and he says Lord

[2:15]he who's own realities and attributes those which are facts these are

[2:21]empty claims that everything inside me people all see me they see

[2:27]my strength and beauty and knowledge and power but I know that

[2:31]it's not even mine it's yours then how so for one who

[2:36]just has claims doesn't even have these attributes what does that person

[2:39]actually even own if even the one who has those attributes they

[2:45]just claims for him he's saying that there is nothing that I

[2:49]have that is of myself that if there is anything that we

[2:52]love in IM Hussein he's saying it's all because of Allah that

[2:59]he's pointing constantly at ill and don't think that this is a

[3:05]very small piece of information this is a paradigm shift he's not

[3:08]saying if you love me love Allah he gave me this he's

[3:10]saying ultimately there is no even me me is dependent upon Allah

[3:17]completely I am contingent completely in my very existence upon Allah there

[3:22]is nothing I have of my own self forget everything that I

[3:25]may own materially forget even having my children I don't even own

[3:30]them I don't even own my own life my own thoughts my

[3:32]own imagination I don't own I'm going to describe what this means

[3:37]in a minute through a Hadith of to further explain what this

[3:43]all means what does it mean to say even my thoughts my

[3:46]creativity my imagination all of these they're not even really belonging to

[3:51]me because think about it when you were ignorant and then you

[3:56]gained knowledge you didn't give yourself that knowledge someone gave that to

[4:03]you and that someone did not was not born knowledgeable that someone

[4:09]also was needy of knowledge and it was given to him ultimately

[4:12]we are all needy we are all we are all as Allah

[4:19]subhana says in the Quran oh people you are the ones in

[4:24]needy of Allah you are complete poverty to God only Allah is

[4:32]the wealthy self-sufficient no one else no other entity but then Allah

[4:36]subh gave everything to these human beings to come and lead us

[4:43]he showed them the way to lead us that it's very difficult

[4:46]for us to comprehend what that means that I have nothing of

[4:52]myself that my are not even real they just claims it's difficult

[4:55]for me to comprehend that so Allah sends a human being that

[4:58]comprehends that and takes me by the hand that's what an Imam

[5:03]is an Imam is someone who takes you by the hand that's

[5:06]why we look at the prophets prophets are people who are sent

[5:10]by Allah subh sometimes with a book sometimes without a book they

[5:14]may not be Messengers might you might be a prophet a Warner

[5:19]but not a messenger with Revelation you might not be a rasool

[5:22]you might be a Nabi but there are stations like ibraim was

[5:26]a and towards the end of his life he reached the station

[5:28]of IM the Imam is the one who takes you by the

[5:32]hand to Allah subhana wa tala he comes to you and he

[5:34]takes you towards Allah and Allah gave him this so that we

[5:39]can go towards a human being that is chosen as the Gateway

[5:42]and path to Allah as the Rope between the Heaven and the

[5:47]Earth that there must always be a of Allah on Earth this

[5:49]H is telling us with everything that I have as your leader

[5:53]as I'm the one who gives you this knowledge and takes you

[5:56]by the hand still I have nothing of myself it's all from

[6:01]Allah and you must all understand this my followers he's telling us

[6:04]we must all understand this truth ultimately that the ends of all

[6:09]of's sacrifices was always and monotheism and ultimately he's showing us this

[6:21]and we see it in the verse in the Quran when Allah

[6:23]says telling his creation am I not your lord he says to

[6:31]his creation yes you are our Lord but this should not be

[6:34]understood as a Creator and his AB as if his AB was

[6:39]independent and had its own will and Allah forced himself onto the

[6:43]that would mean that there is something there occupying a space where

[6:49]Allah subh tala is not but there can be no space like

[6:55]this even though Allah is not a material being there can be

[6:59]no independent entity of Allah subhana wa tala for him to ask

[7:02]and has Independence on its own and says yes I accept you

[7:08]no he is saying I am you are you are not even

[7:14]you are you have nothing of yourself you are contingent you are

[7:18]complete neediness you are complete poverty complete neediness and I gave you

[7:23]existence and I gave you being there is nothing that can take

[7:29]you from non-being to being except I Allah is saying you are

[7:32]the relation itself you are not an entity independent of another entity

[7:40]and then there's a relationship between you you are the relation itself

[7:44]the point of relation itself Brothers if we can have as many

[7:49]of you come as close as you can so we can let

[7:50]some inad please BL the in as many lovers of IM Hussein

[7:56]as we can thank you so much there's even space up here

[8:07]and so the Imam speaks to us with this tongue this tongue

[8:15]of deep knowledge of spiritual knowledge that we call Knowledge by presence

[8:22]like the knowledge that you have of your own hunger and your

[8:28]own thirst this is not knowledge that is given to you this

[8:30]is knowledge that you have within you this is something that you

[8:36]know yourself no one has to remind you that you are you

[8:39]no one has to remind you that you are thirsty you go

[8:44]to drink water when you start to feel that your your throat

[8:46]is dry you go and you drink some water without having to

[8:51]think about it because you just received Knowledge from your own being

[8:55]it's different to the knowledge you're receiving from this lecture this is

[8:59]from the external reality but the knowledge ultimately that we are aiming

[9:06]for when we say that the beginning of knowledge is to know

[9:10]Allah this knowledge that we want of Allah is not knowledge that

[9:15]I can gain from books and from lectures it's not knowledge that

[9:18]can be gained in this way these are important prerequisites we're not

[9:23]wasting our time here we are coming with a sincere heart but

[9:26]actually the knowledge that we are aiming for is knowledge of experience

[9:30]where we want to know Allah with an open clear Pure Heart

[9:37]this must be experienced because knowledge can be used for evil they

[9:41]say shatan was one of those beings that had the most knowledge

[9:45]in fact if you twist it some interpretations of why shatan did

[9:53]not worship or did not obey Allah subh when Allah told him

[9:55]to bow down to Adam you know what the interpretation some of

[9:59]the schol is they say he did not bow down to Adam

[10:00]why out of for Allah like Ya Allah how can I bow

[10:06]down to Adam I only bow down to you I won't bow

[10:09]down to Adam only you you're my Lord Allah says if I'm

[10:12]your Lord I'm telling you bow down it's the same thing as

[10:17]when people say I don't want to follow the IM I'll do

[10:18]it just between me and Allah Allah is the one that's saying

[10:21]follow the IM I want you to come to me in this

[10:23]way as ifan has more for Allah than Allah himself this is

[10:29]not the case as much knowledge as Shan had all those thousands

[10:33]of years that he was worshiping him that he was worshiping Allah

[10:36]subhana for thousands of years he still flipped because knowledge was not

[10:42]enough there has to be knowledge by presence within a pure heart

[10:50]a heart that is sound free of blemishes that we have worked

[10:56]to cleanse this is the kind of knowledge of experience and it's

[10:59]it's not enough just to be able to debate it's not enough

[11:02]just to be able to memorize it's not enough to think that

[11:06]we have knowledge because we have pieces of information that we can

[11:11]constantly retell everything I'm saying here to you right now means zero

[11:15]if I think that it's me or I become proud of my

[11:21]own self everything I say must be understood as being from Allah

[11:24]subh power from Allah otherwise if I think I'm independent in any

[11:28]way then it's it's empty words it's empty words so if people

[11:33]become impressed or people don't like it ultimately you must do what

[11:37]your te is with Allah you do your part with Allah it's

[11:40]not up to you to impress people it's not up to you

[11:43]to make them like you or not like you you're doing what

[11:46]you need to do with Allah subhah wa ta'ala the knowledge that

[11:48]we want is this knowledge by presence and this is the kind

[11:55]of knowledge through the tongue the tongue ofah that he's speaking with

[12:00]Allah with in is through this kind of knowledge and I shared

[12:03]the prophetic Hadith yesterday which is repeated in several different sources by

[12:09]himself and by where he says that knowledge is not in the

[12:20]amount of strenuous study that you engage in it's not in how

[12:23]many books you read it's not in how many intellectual acrobatics you

[12:27]can do knowledge is light from Allah sent into the heart of

[12:36]the one who Allah Wills the Pure Heart The Sound heart and

[12:42]one of the sources that this Hadith is found in is the

[12:47]and it's a man who is seeking knowledge sitting with and he

[12:53]says and replies he's telling him it's not in how many books

[13:01]you read and so asks how do I gain this knowledge this

[13:06]knowledge by light into my heart and he responds to him says

[13:14]if you want this real knowledge then you must seek within yourself

[13:25]the reality of worship and devotion that's how is telling an to

[13:31]gain knowledge that you must seek within yourself and please every word

[13:39]of the imams in this narration this is a narration attributed to

[13:43]the Imam yes just for those who may want to inquire about

[13:47]the chain of the Hadith there are question marks on the Chain

[13:52]but the this is a famous amongst the to the point that

[13:54]some of them they carry it with them wherever they go and

[13:59]there are other sources by by this narration is found but ultimately

[14:04]he is telling an in every single word that he says seek

[14:10]this is the part that is such a key he didn't say

[14:16]look outside of you he said look inside of you you must

[14:22]look within yourself and there you will find the reality of devotion

[14:26]and worship that's how you gain knowledge by light in a sound

[14:34]heart this is different than what some of us have been taught

[14:38]in how much you study yes that's a prerequisite but it's not

[14:44]the ultimate goal you can study and have all the information and

[14:48]be a walking encyclopedia but you may not have true true knowledge

[14:53]of Allah true knowledge of Islam it's a light so then we

[14:57]must seek it through devotion within ourselves within ourselves knowledge by presentence

[15:07]to know Allah within myself that I feel him I experience then

[15:09]I understand he's closer to me than my Jag yes because he's

[15:14]closer to me than my because he literally in my States and

[15:19]my feelings and my emotions basically those are my States I experience

[15:24]my proximity to Allah subhana wa taala that is different to anything

[15:31]that you may understand conceptually and here I wanted to narrate for

[15:36]you a Hadith because sometimes when I speak this way some people

[15:42]they become very sensitive because they say this is this is Sufi

[15:47]and they become very scared and afraid that this is not from

[15:53]that's why I'm mentioning Hadith they say it's not from these are

[15:58]Sufi teachings even though if I bring so many different narrations from

[16:01]the you would find that said this said this it sounds like

[16:06]Sufi teachings what do you mean Sufi teachings anything that's mystical there

[16:13]is so much mysticism in the words of the themselves so I

[16:19]wanted to read this narration for you I want to read parts

[16:21]of it for you so that no one goes and says Hussein

[16:25]Maki is making these things up because he loves im or he

[16:28]loves these different Mystics and he loves you know sufis and whatever

[16:36]else no no no I'm speaking Im so IM in this narration

[17:28]go and speak to him because he will convince you that God

[17:31]actually exists I stay away from him because he confuses me so

[17:35]he says no no you're just saying that literally that's how the

[17:43]know that he can defeat you in a debate but he can't

[18:41]look around you how Allah subhana how can you deny the existence

[18:45]of God this is what the man says if the matter is

[18:49]as you say and as they say why does he not appear

[18:53]to his creation you know isn't that what you always find people

[18:55]saying but why do he just show himself why can't he just

[19:00]show himself talk to us directly then we will worship him then

[19:03]there will be no disagreement amongst us there'll be no atheists if

[19:07]he comes and tells me I Allah worship me I'll worship him

[19:09]why do I why does he leave me in this guessing game

[19:14]why does he hide from us and sends Messengers instead if he

[19:17]engage with us directly it will be easier for me to believe

[19:22]in him you hear that a lot no that's a common a

[19:24]common idea amongst atheists you're saying the same thing all these ideas

[19:27]are by the way they are rehashed all the time a lot

[19:31]of these whenever someone comes as if they have a new discovery

[19:36]or a new argument against Allah subh or religion or Islam you

[19:39]find these were always present hundreds of years ago in our books

[19:42]and the imams replied to them they're old but they just rehash

[19:46]them the same thing actually the funny thing is atheists are the

[19:49]ones who think of Allah the most by the way we just

[19:52]we live we worship Allah but we go on with our lives

[19:53]atheist always like Allah he exist he doesn't exist come on Allah

[19:57]he wants to debate everyone he's doing the most Subhan Allah so

[20:01]then he says to IM sad where is Allah why doesn't he

[20:06]show himself to us now The Logical answer the answer logically is

[20:13]easily my Allah doesn't have a body what do you mean show

[20:16]himself to you do you want him to come into the material

[20:20]realm he's not Material Allah subh is not a material being he

[20:23]is immaterial he is above this realm this realm is a low

[20:28]realm it's called because it is the lowest World physical world Allah

[20:32]is not physical if you want him to show himself to you

[20:34]that means he's in a body if he's in a body that

[20:37]means he has parts parts are needy of each other and Allah

[20:40]is not needy Allah is self-sufficient and Wealthy so Allah cannot show

[20:43]himself to you it's like saying can uh can I fit uh

[20:47]a tree into this cup it's a tree it cannot fit into

[20:53]the cup the dimensions don't allow for that Allah is immaterial the

[20:57]material world cannot handle an immaterial being but IM does not answer

[21:06]him logically he answers him through he answers him differently he wants

[21:10]him to experience because this first answer The Logical answer is the

[21:14]correct answer it's conceptual I must understand it it's external but he

[21:21]wants him to feel the presence of Allah different he can convince

[21:25]him all day with argument after argument after argument notice a lot

[21:34]is disbelieving this person doesn't believe this person doesn't believe the first

[21:37]thing I say is who are they what's happened to them what's

[21:42]their background what's their story because everyone's different and you'll realize if

[21:50]to why they should follow Islam but they still won't because they

[21:54]are hurt or they are damaged someone who is angry at the

[21:58]world because his son passed away or a lady who's angry at

[22:02]the world because her husband mistreated her and divorced her and left

[22:04]her so no matter what you say to her no he was

[22:14]I give him all the arguments in the world they won't accept

[22:16]it conceptually because you have to make them experience something then you

[23:00]did you grow on your own isn't he the one who strengthened

[23:05]you after you were weak remember when you felt weakness and then

[23:09]you felt strength that strength where did it come from how did

[23:12]you grow where did you get that strength from after you were

[23:17]weak remember when you were sick and you became healthy and when

[23:19]you were healthy and you became sick how do you go through

[23:24]all these different states inside you or how Allah subh angered you

[23:28]after your satisfaction and teased you after your anger saddened you after

[23:31]your joy made you joyful after your sorrow he's he's speaking about

[23:34]States they when you're sorrowful when you're sad it's an experience when

[23:41]you have happiness it's an experience he's speaking to him about his

[23:46]experiences inside him because if you don't have something you cannot give

[23:51]something how did you give yourself strength you don't have strength how

[23:55]did you give yourself strength it's not yours where did you get

[23:59]it from you were weak once upon a time you were ignorant

[24:03]Once Upon a Time how did you gain knowledge how did you

[24:04]gain strength when he gave you hope after your despair all of

[24:11]these are experiences all of these are within your all of this

[24:14]is knowledge you have knowledge of your hope you know when you

[24:16]feel you have knowledge of your despair when you feel like there

[24:22]is no hope you have knowledge of this you feel this you

[24:24]feel anxious is saying all these things that you're going through who

[24:29]gave you them they all inside you from where did they come

[24:31]IM sad kept going on and on and on and then the

[24:36]man he then he narrates now he said and then ja continued

[24:43]recounting the power of Allah to me which exists within myself that

[24:47]I could no longer deny it until I began to think this

[24:52]is the part that gets me he said I began to think

[25:01]that Allah was about to manifest himself before IM sadik and myself

[25:04]he's about to appear before us from how present I felt Allah

[25:10]existing I felt that he was going to manifest himself before us

[25:16]even between him and I this is is reminding him of all

[25:24]the power that he experiences in his life that isn't from him

[25:29]knowledge by presence if you want to understand what it means to

[25:36]feel proximity to Allah that's why I began today's lecture by say

[25:40]I wasn't just saying it as words of encouragement I was saying

[25:46]it because I felt it and I experienced it in my knowledge

[25:49]by presence I felt love I was in a state of love

[25:56]and Brotherhood and family and Dean and love of made and I

[25:59]felt everyone I felt the energy of every I felt the presence

[26:03]that's knowledge within everyone has this it's to be in touch with

[26:09]this and to feel the proximity of Allah subhana tala so that

[26:13]then you're always speaking to Allah and you always feel the presence

[26:20]of Allah when you are walking and before you sleep and when

[26:23]you wake up then you feel ashamed not to wake up for

[26:29]f that's that's before zero y you feel ashamed of that in

[26:31]fact when you start to wake up at 4:00 a.m.

[26:34]you look at your clock and you see 4:00 a.m.

[26:36]before maybe Allah is calling me he wants me to pray so

[26:43]should I stay comfortable and stay in my bed oh no Allah's

[26:49]calling me when you are experiencing knowledge through presence and you feel

[26:53]so close to Allah you don't choose your comfort in your bed

[26:56]anymore you say Allah is calling me my Master's calling me you

[26:59]get up and you wash your face and you want to speak

[27:02]to Allah in the middle of the night when everyone else is

[27:05]asleep and Allah looks at you in the had and he tells

[27:07]his angels look at my servant when everyone is asleep he's worshiping

[27:12]me and he remembers me and then there is love between you

[27:15]and Allah subhana wa ta'ala and then you are so powerful because

[27:19]you have given yourself completely then you understand the words of IM

[27:23]Hussein I have no I have only Allah I don't have anything

[27:31]for myself everything is from you then Allah gives you everything you

[27:37]know everyone spends their life we all spend our lives trying to

[27:42]become somebody when the point of life was to become nobody Allah

[27:56]subhah wa ta'ala tells us in the Quran about a day that

[28:02]will come we are going to meet Allah and on that day

[28:06]insan is going to be in a special predicament on that day

[28:23]nothing will benefit man nothing will benefit you especially when it comes

[28:28]to the two two things that you spend your whole life trying

[28:31]to grow Mal and B your money will not benefit you and

[28:39]your Offspring and lineage and your children they will not benefit you

[28:45]our whole lives we are trying to increase our wealth we are

[28:51]trying to expand our families and this is halal and it's beautiful

[28:54]and this is what life is all about it's beautiful the best

[29:01]the best part of life is this to have a family and

[29:03]to increase yourself in wealth Allah says those two things will not

[29:10]benefit you when you meet me there's a condition for that you

[29:18]must meet Allah if you want to have benefit on that day

[29:21]you must meet Allah with a sound heart a pure heart a

[29:27]heart that is free of blemishes A Heart That is supposed to

[29:34]be cleansed we are supposed to go to Allah subhana wa taala

[29:37]with a clean heart this must happen now when the Warriors came

[29:42]back from a battle he looked at them and said Glad Tidings

[29:47]to the ones who have returned from and imagine being a warrior

[29:55]on the battlefield and your swords were drenched in blood and you

[29:59]just lost some of your brothers and then you come and your

[30:02]Prophet says you just came back from J what's jar he said

[30:09]the battle against yourself because my brothers and sisters the battle on

[30:15]the battlefield it ends when the battle ends you come home there's

[30:20]a winner and a loser but continues continues continues until your final

[30:29]breath and Shan waits for you for your final breath when you

[30:35]are at your weakest he tries to bring you down he tries

[30:38]to take you away and if there are blemishes on your heart

[30:42]he will take advantage of those at the final moment and if

[30:45]you let your God [Music] down the soldiers of Satan which are

[30:50]always ready and trying to take you in D they make D

[30:55]look very beautiful for you they are always ready and trying to

[30:59]take you to bring you away from the past that even at

[31:02]the moment of death they try to make you believe at the

[31:05]final moment that who said that there is a prophet who said

[31:10]that this Quran is the word of Allah to make you doubt

[31:14]after your whole life you have lived a certain way they want

[31:16]to make you doubt right at the end IM he tells us

[32:26]and then the heart no longer understands it's very hard to do

[32:40]believe what his own dreams are anymore because he is such a

[32:58]they have hearts they don't understand with they don't understand with these

[33:11]the greatest example of this with that dark heart that cannot understand

[33:15]listen there are Hearts they don't understand it's interesting Hearts not Minds

[33:22]not he didn't say hearts that don't understand the heart is supposed

[33:31]to represent in Islam the J the essence of who you are

[33:35]as a human being the greatest example of this sick heart is
