This video introduces the short and long vowels in Arabic.

There are two types of vowels in the Arabic language: short vowels and long vowels.
 There are three short vowels and they are not part of the alphabet.
 These vowels play a key role in the meaning, syntax, and pronunciation.
 The short vowels and long vowels are exactly the same in terms of the sounds they
make.
 The only difference is their duration.
 When the sounds of short vowels are doubled in duration, they become long vowels.

The three short vowels are: fathah, kasrah, and dammah.

In this video, the short vowel fathah is taught.
