[0:34][sighs] Alhamdulillah.
[0:48]for Muhammad.
[1:09][clears throat] Respected scholars, brothers and sisters, we mentioned over the course
[1:46]of the last nights of our discussions that the holy month of
[1:53]Ramadan is the season to turn to Allahawajel and to restart your
[1:59]relationship with him.
[2:01]And there is no better way, no way that is more effective
[2:10]in reviving a relationship and igniting a connection than conversing, engaging in
[2:19]conversation.
[2:18]If you've been distant from someone, if you have been far away
[2:25]from a friend or a family member, the best way to reignite
[2:29]that relationship is through conversation.
[2:32]And thus, we speak to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala during the month
[2:40]of Ramadan.
[2:38]And we speak to Allahawel through dua.
[2:42]That's why we spoke about the importance of dua in our lives.
[2:48]And we said the month of Ramadan is the month of dua.
[2:54]Is there any other month out of the year that you can
[2:57]come for 30 nights to the masjid and congregationally recite beautiful duas
[3:04]of together?
[3:05]Is there any other month of the year besides the month of
[3:09]Ramadan?
[3:10]For 30 nights the believers gather and they recite this beautiful dua.
[3:16]It's a dua where immedi Allah how to ask for our how
[3:24]to ask for our through because they are the they are the
[3:33]intercession the was between us and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he teaches
[3:37]us how to confess our sins to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[3:43]So in essence when we are doing dua we are speaking to
[3:46]Allahawel and this strengthens our bond with Allah.
[3:52]But part of having a conversation part of the etiquette and the
[4:01]adb of having a conversation is to make sure that you don't
[4:07]do all the talking.
[4:08]You have to allow the other side to also speak.
[4:11]You have to hear them out.
[4:15]Listen to the other side.
[4:17]A conversation is half speaking and have listening.
[4:20]So with our relationship with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, we spoke about
[4:25]the first aspect.
[4:26]Speak to Allah to create that connection through dua.
[4:32]But in return, we also have to listen to Allah.
[4:36]We also have to hear the words of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[4:41]And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala speaks to us my dear brothers and
[4:48]sisters through the Quran.
[4:48]The holy book of Allah.
[4:53]The Quran is how Allah communicates to us.
[4:54]We speak to him through dua.
[4:58]Dua Abu Hamali imbaches you how to speak to Allah.
[5:03]But if you want to hear Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, then open
[5:09]the Quran, the beautiful Quran, 6, and almost 300 verses that Allah
[5:16]subhanahu wa ta'ala revealed, this is Allah speaking to you.
[5:19]So during the month of Ramadan when you listen to Quran recitation
[5:25]as every night you notice someone comes and recites Quran.
[5:29]When you listen to Quran being recited during the month of Ramadan
[5:36]and every month realize that these aren't just some verses that were
[5:42]revealed 1400 years ago.
[5:46]This is how some people interact with the Quran when they hear
[5:49]the Quran.
[5:50]This is history.
[5:51]Verses revealed 1,400 years ago.
[5:56]No, the Quran when you listen to it, these are words that
[6:01]are speaking to you today now, living words.
[6:06]Allahawel is addressing you.
[6:08]He's speaking to every single one of us.
[6:14]So for example, when you hear a verse where Allah says, "Oh
[6:18]you who believe, Allah is speaking to you as a believer." When
[6:25]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, Allah is speaking to you as a
[6:31]servant, as a slave.
[6:30]This is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala directly speaking to you.
[6:37]He's telling you something.
[6:38]When Allah says, he's speaking to all of humanity.
[6:41]When he says, he's speaking to all the human beings.
[6:47]When he says, he is speaking to me as a human being,
[6:54]as an insan.
[6:56]So, you see, there are so many verses in the Quran where
[7:02]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is directly addressing us.
[7:04]He's talking to us.
[7:07]He is speaking to us.
[7:08]And when anybody speaks to you, you listen.
[7:11]You are attentive to that individual.
[7:15]You direct your focus and attention to the individual who is speaking.
[7:21]When you hear verses in the Quran where Allah tells us about
[7:29]the fact that our sins, our deeds, all our deeds will be
[7:35]recorded.
[7:34]For example, he says Allah says, I have entrusted two angels to
[7:46]write all your deeds.
[7:50]It's all being written in a book.
[7:55]Allah says everything that happens, every word that you that you utter,
[8:00]every act that you take, every decision that you make, Allah is
[8:07]writing it in a book.
[8:07]And the Quran tells us that on the day of judgment, Allah
[8:12]will present us with this book.
[8:14]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, On the day of judgment, Allah will
[8:28]present you a book, a book of your Allah will tell you,
[8:35]read your book.
[8:35]This is everything that you did in your life.
[8:38]When Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells us about that, he's trying to
[8:46]remind us that we're being watched so that we behave.
[8:49]So that we have selfawareness.
[8:52]So that when we speak, we think before we speak, before we
[8:57]act, we think.
[8:59]Don't they say you have the right to remain silent because it
[9:02]could be used against you?
[9:03]Allah is telling you that in the Quran.
[9:06]These aren't just stories for you to enjoy.
[9:09]Allah is communicating a message to you.
[9:13]When we read verses about Jenna, about paradise and the pleasures and
[9:21]the beauties of paradise, the rivers and the beautiful trees and the
[9:28]orchards of the paradise of Allah and the foods that Allah subhanahu
[9:36]wa ta'ala will provide.
[9:38]Everything that you desire and can imagine Allah will provide it to
[9:46]you in his paradise.
[9:49]Why is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala telling me about Jenna about paradise?
[9:58]Because Allah wants to inspire you to work for Jenna.
[10:00]He's inviting you to his paradise.
[10:02]He's telling you, you see this beautiful paradise that I'm describing?
[10:06]I built this for you.
[10:11]I created this for you.
[10:11]Just do some small good deeds.
[10:14]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will accept the minimum.
[10:20]We do the least and Allah gives us the most.
[10:24]when we read verses of the fires of hell and I know
[10:31]many of us we don't like listening about there are some places
[10:36]where I've recited when they've told me say please don't speak about
[10:40]jannam don't speak about the fires of hell because this is scary
[10:45]well if it's in the Quran maybe Allah wanted to scare us
[10:47]a little but why does Allah tell me about Janam and what
[10:53]the people of Jahannam the fires of hell will go through and
[10:55]what they will eat and the struggle and the suffering that they
[10:59]will go through.
[11:02]Why?
[11:03]Allah is warning me.
[11:03]He's telling me stay away from what takes you to Jahannam.
[11:08]I don't want you to go to Jannam.
[11:11]Allah doesn't want anyone to go to Jannam.
[11:14]So it's a deterrent.
[11:14]He's warning me.
[11:17]Stay away from 1, two, three, four, five, and I will protect
[11:21]you from Janam.
[11:22]When Allah tells us stories of the earlier nations and their struggles
[11:30]and what they went through, this isn't just a history lesson.
[11:35]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is communicating to me directly.
[11:38]Allah is telling me to be careful not to follow the same
[11:46]route that they followed.
[11:46]Allah shows us in the Quran that when injustice was committed, Allah
[11:52]retaliated.
[11:54]That when individuals act arrogantly, when they acted with corruption, Allah subhanahu
[12:01]wa ta'ala punished them.
[12:04]And this is a message for me.
[12:08]Allah is telling me, be careful.
[12:10]Don't go down the same route as those individuals.
[12:13]How many times does Allah mention the story of the shaitan Satan
[12:19]and how he refused to do sujud to Adam?
[12:22]Why is Allah telling us over and over again?
[12:25]Because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is trying to teach us a lesson.
[12:31]He's telling me in the same way that arrogance took down the
[12:34]shan and it destroyed him, it can destroy me as well.
[12:37]Arrogance can destroy our dunya, our lives, our relationships.
[12:45]and arrogance can destroy your so Allah is telling you be humble
[12:49]but he's telling you through a story when Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[12:54]tells us the story of and the two sons of Adam and
[13:01]killed Habil Allah is essentially telling us warning us beware of envy
[13:06]envy can lead you to killing your own brother you don't believe
[13:10]me the two sons of a prophet did it.
[13:13]And not only in the story of Habil and Kabil, but in
[13:19]the story of Ysef and his brothers.
[13:22]They were all sons of a prophet Yah.
[13:25]But their envy towards their brother led them to try to kill
[13:29]their own brother.
[13:31]The message that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is communicating is beware of
[13:36]envy.
[13:37]It could destroy families.
[13:39]It could destroy your life.
[13:40]And when allahel tells us about the lives of the prophets of
[13:46]Allah of the messengers about the life of Allah and the early
[13:50]struggles of the Muslims, this is not just a history lesson.
[13:58]Allah is telling us that in the same way they struggled, you
[14:01]Muslims today will also struggle.
[14:02]But don't lose hope.
[14:07]Don't think that evil will always prevail.
[14:08]Don't think just because you are over powered or you're outnumbered that
[14:17]means that you will be defeated.
[14:23]This is a verse where Allah is speaking to me today 2026.
[14:28][snorts] Even if you think the enemies are too much, too great.
[14:31]They've outnumbered us.
[14:34]But Allah says, "How many small groups, outnumbered groups through the power
[14:40]of Allah, they were able to defeat and overwhelm larger groups because
[14:45]when Allah is with you, everything is possible." So Allah is giving
[14:50]us hope.
[14:49]He's consoling us.
[14:51]So the Holy Quran, my dear brothers and sisters, is a book
[14:58]that communicates to us.
[14:58]It speaks to us.
[15:01]And during the month of Ramadan, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wants you
[15:06]to open your heart and listen to the Quran.
[15:10]How many times do we really listen to what the Quran is
[15:16]telling us?
[15:16]Because the imams of describe the month of Ramadan as being Ramadan,
[15:27]the month of Ramadan is springtime for the Quran.
[15:31]Meaning in the same way that the earth blossoms during spring that
[15:38]we can't wait for, the Holy Quran blossoms in the month of
[15:42]Ramadan.
[15:43]It blossoms in our lives.
[15:47]and it blossoms in our hearts.
[15:48]So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says this is the time to open
[15:52]your heart and listen to the Quran because the Quran can change
[15:55]your life.
[15:57]And that's why tonight I'd like to speak about the etiquets of
[16:04]listening to the Quran.
[16:05]How can we properly listen to the Quran so that the Quran
[16:13]can actually impact us?
[16:13]so that the Quran can make a change in our lives.
[16:19]Now the most important rule that Allahawel states about listening to the
[16:25]Quran is where Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentions these two criterias in
[16:35]the holy Quran.
[16:35]He says, "When you hear the Quran being recited, Allah says, do
[16:48]two things." And this is the adab of listening to the Quran.
[16:55]The Quran says number one, listen to the Quran.
[17:03]Listen means what?
[17:04]Listen means pay attention.
[17:07]You're not just hearing it.
[17:08]There's hearing and then there's listening.
[17:11]That's when you have directed your attention and your focus to the
[17:15]words of Allah.
[17:22]Means remain silent.
[17:26]Be quiet.
[17:27]The Quran is about to be recited.
[17:30]This is what Allah says in the Holy Quran.
[17:33]Anytime you're in the masjid and the Quran is about to be
[17:40]recited, the Quran says, "Stop your conversation.
[17:40]Stop talking.
[17:43]Answer to and pay attention to the Quran." Because sometimes we can
[17:48]be quiet, but then we'll be distracted.
[17:50]I'll take out my phone and I'll be messaging and scrolling and
[17:54]playing with my phone.
[17:57]I'm silent, but what's the problem?
[17:59]I'm not listening.
[17:59]direct your attention to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to the verses of
[18:04]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala these are the two adabs that Allah teaches
[18:11]us when it comes to listening to the Quran even if you
[18:13]are in a funeral when you go to a funeral you see
[18:17]the Quran is playing or someone is reciting Quran Allah says be
[18:21]quiet and listen to the Quran in your house in your car
[18:28]when the Quran is being recited then be quiet and listen to
[18:35]the Quran.
[18:35]Now why does Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tell us that?
[18:41]Three reasons.
[18:40]Number one, the first reason why Allah focuses on being quiet and
[18:50]listening to the Quran is because this is a sign of respect
[18:56]to the words of Allah.
[18:57]We mentioned that the Quran is not just a history book.
[19:01]It's not a newspaper.
[19:02]It's not poetry.
[19:04]The Quran is the direct words of Allah.
[19:07]He's talking to you.
[19:10]And when Allah speaks to you, the least we can do is
[19:17]what?
[19:18]Show our respect, our adab.
[19:19]Be cordious with Allah and listen.
[19:23]Pay attention.
[19:23]Imagine.
[19:24]Imagine if there's a very important speaker who comes to deliver a
[19:29]message to you 5 minutes, 7 minutes and everybody is chatting and
[19:35]talking and on their phones.
[19:37]How will that speaker feel?
[19:39]Nobody cares about what I'm saying.
[19:41]These people have no respect for me.
[19:43]Why have you even attended if you're not interested in listening to
[19:50]my words?
[19:48]So when we listen to the Quran, I'm showing respect to Allah
[19:54]because Allah is talking to me.
[19:57]When someone talks to you, pay attention.
[19:59]Look at them.
[20:02]Focus.
[20:01]This is why Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, and when you look
[20:11]at they were very careful with this etiquette.
[20:13]When the imams of B would hear someone reciting the Quran, they
[20:19]would quickly remain silent and they would listen to the Quran because
[20:27]this is what Allah orders in the Quran because these are the
[20:31]words of Allah, the king of the universe.
[20:35]He's speaking and you're talking over him and you're distracted.
[20:37]What could be more important than Allah?
[20:42]Nothing.
[20:41]So, debates.
[20:45]They took recitation of Quran seriously.
[20:50]In one hadith imam narrates that one day Im Ali he was
[21:02]leading I assume injur probably he's the he's leading the jama there
[21:09]are hundreds of people praying behind him.
[21:10]The Imam is reciting in his salah.
[21:16]All of a sudden a man by the name of Abdullahn Kawdahn
[21:21]Kawwa was a Kari.
[21:24]The Karajis they used to hate Im Ali Ali.
[21:27]They used to even believe that Imam Ali disbelieved.
[21:31]They were with Imam Ali in the beginning but then they turned
[21:34]against him and they fought against Imam Ali in the battle of
[21:41]Nahawan because they believed that Im Ali Ali committed kufur disbelief and
[21:46]he apostasized.
[21:46]So Kawwa would constantly harass Imam Ali, bother him, disrespected, disrespect the
[21:53]Imam until one day, you know what he did?
[21:57]He came inside the masjid.
[21:58]The Imam is praying, he's leading salah, he's reciting out loud.
[22:03]This mannaw, he comes and he interrupts the salat of he does
[22:13]it in a clever way.
[22:16]Had he started to speak, he would have gotten kicked out.
[22:19]So he started to recite the Quran.
[22:22]Imagine you're praying jama, someone randomly recites the Quran, disrupts your salah,
[22:27]and he chooses a clever verse.
[22:31]This was a very satanic way, a verse in which he condemns
[22:37]Im Ali through.
[22:39]He dis disrespects Imam Ali through a verse.
[22:40]Which verse does he read?
[22:46]He reads verse 65.
[22:54]Allah says in the holy Quran to his prophet, he says, "Look,
[23:02]even you Allah, if you commit the smallest act of associate a
[23:07]partner with me with Allah, all your good deeds and your hard
[23:13]work, they'll be nullified.
[23:13]I won't count it for you and you will be from the
[23:15]losers." And Allah is serious.
[23:20]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells the prophet, "Obey me in everything that
[23:25]I ask you.
[23:24]If you don't, if you begin to falter, then I won't count
[23:31]anything for you.
[23:33]So he recites this verse loudly and he interrupts the salah of
[23:39]basically he's telling Ali and you committed you committed kufur and all
[23:45]your hard work in the beginning of Islam the battles of and
[23:51]all the heroic acts of Im Ali Allah will not count it
[23:55]for you and you will be from the losers.
[23:56]This is how he talks to Im Ali.
[23:59]But look at the adab of Im Ali.
[24:03]He tries to provoke him.
[24:04]Im says as soon as began to recite this verse, Im Ali,
[24:12]he stopped.
[24:14]He stopped the salah.
[24:17]He stopped reciting.
[24:17]Why?
[24:18]Because the Quran was being recited.
[24:22]He listened.
[24:22]Once Kawa finished that verse, the Imam continued his salah.
[24:27]Kawwa interrupted a second time.
[24:31]He he he recited this verse a second time.
[24:32]Once again, Imm Ali Alisam he stays silent.
[24:36]He allows him to continue to recite the Quran and he stays
[24:42]silent.
[24:43]He did it three times and every time I im Ali stayed
[24:46]silent and he listened.
[24:51]Why?
[24:48]Because the Quran says when the Quran is being recited, be quiet
[25:00]and listen.
[25:02]Even when it's your enemy using the Quran to provoke you, Imam
[25:05]Ali Ali showed that much respect to the words of Allah.
[25:10]After Kawwa finished, Imam Ali replied to him in salah.
[25:16]He replied to him with a verse.
[25:20]Another verse Kawah verse 65.
[25:22]Im Ali Ali replied with verse with verse 60.
[25:28]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells Allah be patient Allah for the promise
[25:39]of Allah will be true.
[25:44]And do not allow the ignorant ones who do not have iman
[25:49]and certainty.
[25:50]Do not allow them to provoke you and bother you and disturb
[25:53]you.
[25:54]So I im Ali replied to him in his salah with a
[25:59]verse of the Quran because as long as you're in salah, you're
[26:01]allowed to recite any verse in the Quran.
[26:04]Any verse in the Quran.
[26:06]But I im ali he showed his respect to the words of
[26:10]Allah subhana wa ta'ala that even when it's my enemy and he's
[26:15]using the Quran to disrespect me I'm going to stop and listen
[26:19]because these are not ordinary words they are the words of Allah
[26:29]subhanahu wa'ta'ala this is how powerful the Quran is my dear brothers
[26:33]and sisters so this is number one we show respect when we
[26:36]hear the Quran by listening to the Quran.
[26:40]Number two, a second reason Allah tells us that when you listen,
[26:47]when you hear the Quran, pay attention, listen and stay silent, is
[26:53]because the Quran has the power to transform your life if you
[27:02]listen to it appropriately.
[27:03]You see, we mentioned that the Quran is the words of Allah
[27:12]subhanahu wa ta'ala being spoken to us.
[27:14]And there are no words more powerful than the words of Allah.
[27:17]Can you think of any words or sentences that are more powerful
[27:22]powerful and effective than Allah's words?
[27:26]Absolutely not.
[27:28]Because he's the creator of everybody.
[27:32]So when Allah speaks his words have the maximum effectiveness and impact
[27:39]on us.
[27:40]This is when Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala speaks.
[27:44]The words of Allah have the potential to completely change and transform
[27:51]my character, my faith, my because this is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[27:57]When Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala speaks, these words reach parts of the
[28:05]heart that nothing else can reach.
[28:06]It's only through the words of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[28:08]The Quran, the words of Allah, they speak to the deepest layers
[28:14]of our soul.
[28:15]And they uncover and reveal things that we didn't even know existed
[28:22]in our soul because the words of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala are
[28:26]very powerful, very effective.
[28:28]And this is what the call the transmor the transformative force of
[28:36]the Quran.
[28:38]The potency of the Quran.
[28:38]The Quran has a very very powerful potential force in changing people
[28:48]and affecting other individuals.
[28:49]And Allah mentions this in the Holy Quran.
[28:53]Allah shows us how powerful the words of Allah are, how much
[28:56]potential they have.
[28:59]He says in the Holy Quran, I believe it's he says, Allah
[29:16]says that if we were to bring down this Quran upon upon
[29:23]the mountains, if the Quran was addressing the mountains, not us human
[29:30]beings, the large powerful mighty mountains would crumble before the awe of
[29:39]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[29:39]They would crumble before the majesty of Allah.
[29:44]And this is how powerful the Quran is.
[29:48]When Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala reveals the Quran on anything, it comes
[29:54]down like thunder upon that mountain.
[29:58]It destroys it because it cannot take that powerful transformative force of
[30:04]the Quran.
[30:06]This is how Allah subhanana wa ta'ala describes the Quran.
[30:10]But the question is why is it that when I listen to
[30:15]the Quran, it doesn't affect me.
[30:17]How many verses of the Quran have I recited?
[30:21]How many verses of the Quran have I listened to?
[30:27]Hundreds, maybe thousands.
[30:29]If the Quran has the potential to make mountains crumble, what's wrong
[30:37]with me, the human being, that I listen to the Quran and
[30:40]it does not impact me at all?
[30:42]It makes absolutely no changes in my life.
[30:46]What's the problem?
[30:48]The problem, my dear brothers and sisters, is that the Quran is
[30:56]not entering my heart.
[30:59]For the words of Allah to affect you, impact you, and change
[31:04]you, they have to enter your heart, they have to penetrate your
[31:10]heart.
[31:09]And if they don't penetrate your heart, they're not going to affect
[31:15]you.
[31:15]It's like you have the most powerful painkiller.
[31:17]What's the most powerful painkiller you can think of?
[31:21]Vicodin.
[31:22]Is there something stronger than it?
[31:26]anything.
[31:28]Morphine, Xanax.
[31:30]No, that's not a painkiller.
[31:32]Whatever.
[31:32]Think of the most powerful painkiller, right?
[31:38]This has strong potency.
[31:39]This has potential to, you know, bring you relief from the most
[31:45]powerful pain.
[31:46]Imagine you take that pill and you just stare at it for
[31:50]a whole hour.
[31:52]What's going to happen?
[31:52]Nothing is going to happen.
[31:53]Your pain isn't going to go down.
[31:55]Imagine you take that pill and you put it in your mouth
[31:59]like gum, but you don't swallow it.
[32:04]You don't digest it.
[32:04]Will it bring you any relief?
[32:05]Will you benefit from this pill?
[32:08]Absolutely not.
[32:10]Why?
[32:11]In order for that pill, for that medicine to affect you, to
[32:16]bring you its full maximum potential, you have to digest it.
[32:22]It has to enter your stomach.
[32:24]In the same way, the holy Quran, the words of Allah that
[32:31]have this mighty power, this transfor transmorphitive, transformative force to change us,
[32:39]to affect us.
[32:39]In order for it to actually affect us, it has to enter
[32:44]your heart.
[32:43]If it doesn't enter your heart, it will fall on dead ears.
[32:48]So why do the verses of the Quran not enter our heart?
[32:54]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells us why.
[32:57]He tells us because our hearts can be surrounded by barriers, brothers
[33:06]and sisters.
[33:09]Barriers that are self-imposed that we create.
[33:10]These barriers prevent the verses of Allah from penetrating your heart.
[33:17]If they reach your heart, they'll make a revolution in your heart.
[33:20]They'll change you.
[33:23]You'll become like you will change from the camp of Yazid to
[33:27]the camp of Hussein.
[33:29]It will change you from the worst person and it will elevate
[33:32]you to the rank of prophet.
[33:36]But it has to enter the heart.
[33:38]What happens is we create a barrier around our heart and Allah
[33:45]mentions this in the holy Quran.
[33:46]He says Allah says that many of us we have a layer
[33:59]a layer a barrier around our hearts that prevents the word of
[34:08]Allah from entering our heart.
[34:09]Allah gives the example of ran.
[34:12]Ran is like rust.
[34:12]There's a layer of rust around your heart.
[34:16]The words of Allah are trying to get inside your heart, but
[34:21]they can't because your heart is closed.
[34:26]There's a barrier.
[34:26]And that barrier, my dear brothers and sisters, is created by us
[34:32]through our sins.
[34:34]Do not take sins lightly, brothers and sisters.
[34:37]Some people have this attitude.
[34:39]I can sin today and I can repent tomorrow.
[34:42]I can repent a year from now, two years.
[34:45]But the problem with this mentality is you don't realize the damage
[34:49]that your sin does to your heart.
[34:52]Almak and mention this.
[34:55]They say when you sin, even if it's a small sin, it's
[34:59]not just me disobeying Allah.
[35:02]No, you're hurting yourself.
[35:03]It's exactly like when a doctor tells you even one puff of
[35:08]that cigarette is going to damage your heart.
[35:13]It's not about just disobeying Allah.
[35:15]you are harming yourself.
[35:17]Bakr say when we commit one sin there is a black dot
[35:25]that appears on our heart.
[35:25]Now this is probably meant in a metaphoric way not a literal
[35:32]black dot.
[35:31]He says if you repent quickly that dot will go away, be
[35:36]washed away.
[35:37]But if you commit a second, a third, a fourth, a fifth,
[35:39]a sixth sin, there'll be so many dots on your heart until
[35:45]the Imam says eventually your entire heart will be encapsulated and covered
[35:51]by your sins.
[35:50]The Imam says when that happens, nothing will penetrate your heart.
[36:00]No dua, no Quran, no, no admonition, no story, nothing will enter
[36:06]your heart because the sins are blocking everything from coming inside your
[36:13]heart.
[36:11]This is why the Quran doesn't affect us, brothers and sisters, many
[36:18]times.
[36:19]And that's why, subhan Allah, that's why there are times when you've
[36:25]read a verse 50 times, a hundred times, you've read it so
[36:30]many times, it's never affected you.
[36:31]But all of a sudden, one day you listen to this verse
[36:37]at a funeral or you recite this verse at midnight during the
[36:40]month of Ramadan or a speaker mentions this verse.
[36:45]You've heard it many times, but this time it strikes you much
[36:49]differently.
[36:50]It's as if you have heard it for the first time.
[36:55]It penetrates your heart and it shakes you and you're like, "Wow,
[36:59]unbelievable." It shakes you to your core.
[37:02]Why?
[37:03]You've heard it hundred times.
[37:04]Because those hundred times it was trying to find a way to
[37:09]your heart.
[37:07]It couldn't.
[37:09]It would bounce back.
[37:12]This time finally it found a crack in the wall.
[37:14]It found a very small hole.
[37:17]Alhamdulillah.
[37:19]Your heart wasn't 100% closed.
[37:21]It was 99.9% closed with your sins, trapped with your sins, but
[37:28]it was able to find that very small opening and it penetrated
[37:34]your heart.
[37:33]That's why you feel that inspiration from Allah subhanana wa ta'ala.
[37:37]There are some people that complain, why do we repeat these verses
[37:40]so many times?
[37:42]I've heard this verse.
[37:42]I've heard this surah.
[37:45]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells us, "Recite the Quran as many times
[37:48]as you can.
[37:50]Listen to the Quran as many times as you can." Why?
[37:52]Because you never know when that verse will actually find an opening
[37:58]in your heart and penetrate.
[37:59]Because all you need in your life, brothers and sisters, is one
[38:02]verse to enter your heart and it will change you.
[38:05]Just one verse.
[38:07]You don't need the whole Quran.
[38:08]Why do we read the whole Quran?
[38:10]Because we don't know which VERSE IS GOING TO ENTER.
[38:14]One of them, two of them, none of them.
[38:16]Some people have to read the Quran 20 times in their lives
[38:19]until finally maybe it will penetrate their heart.
[38:22]There's a man by the name of he's considered amongst the he
[38:29]lived during the time of imm.
[38:34]They say he used to be a bandit, a highway robber.
[38:39]He would ambush people on the on the roads, caravans, and he
[38:43]would steal everything.
[38:45]Terrible man, farthest from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[38:51]They say one day as he was robbing a house, he was
[38:55]climbing the wall so he can rob the house.
[38:59]The window was opened and he heard someone from inside the house
[39:04]reciting Quran.
[39:06]He heard this verse.
[39:08]Allah mentions it inah.
[39:19]Isn't it time?
[39:21]Allah says, "Isn't it time for those that believe, they claim to
[39:25]be believers, isn't it time that they turn to Allah and submit
[39:31]to Allah to the remembrance of Allahel?
[39:34]Isn't it time?
[39:35]How much longer do I want to wait?
[39:40]How much more am I going to anticipate to live?
[39:41]How much hope I'm going to give myself that no, it's too
[39:45]soon.
[39:46]I still will live longer, inshallah, next year." The Quran says, "Isn't
[39:50]it time?
[39:51]You've been saying next year for 10 years.
[39:54]It's time.
[39:52]Turn to Allah.
[39:55]Repent to Allahawel." They say, "This man aloud, he had listened.
[40:00]He had heard this verse many times in his life.
[40:04]But this time it was different.
[40:06]It was like thunder on his heart.
[40:08]It penetrated his heart.
[40:12]So he was robbing the house.
[40:15]He quickly stopped.
[40:14]He stopped and he said, "You know what?
[40:19]It is time for me to repent to Allah." Just one verse.
[40:24]He came down.
[40:24]They say he left and he went inside an abandoned house and
[40:30]he turned to Allahel.
[40:30]That verse was ringing in his ears.
[40:33]That that that verse was moving left and right in his heart.
[40:39]He turned to Allah and he said, "Ya Allah, I've spent too
[40:44]much of my life far away from you.
[40:47]I've disobeyed you for too long.
[40:48]It's time that I return to you.
[40:50]It's time that I change.
[40:53]Ya Allah, grant me the ability to repent to you." And they
[40:56]say he completely changed after that day.
[40:58]What did he do?
[41:00]He left the city.
[41:00]He moved to Mecca and he started living right next to the
[41:06]Kaa.
[41:06]Every day he would go and pray for hours and hours right
[41:08]by the Kaa.
[41:10]He would ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for forgiveness right by thea.
[41:15]He became a worshipper.
[41:16]And it didn't stop there.
[41:19]Then he decided to what?
[41:20]To seek knowledge.
[41:22]He's like now that I've transformed let me also seek knowledge.
[41:26]Let me become a scholar.
[41:27]So he began attending the classes of Aladdin and he began to
[41:37]elevate and grow until he himself became a scholar and many of
[41:42]our scholars believe that he was aim and he is deemed amongst
[41:49]the trustworthy narrators of imam.
[41:51]When you read his background, his early life, you won't believe how
[41:57]he transformed.
[41:57]But what sparked the transformation, brothers and sisters?
[42:01]It was one verse.
[42:02]And it wasn't because this verse is special.
[42:07]Every verse in the Quran is special.
[42:10]It was because this verse found its way to this man's heart
[42:16]and it penetrated it and it changed him.
[42:19]And every verse of the Quran can do that to us brothers
[42:21]and sisters.
[42:23]But because we don't know which verse will change me, when is
[42:27]it that there will be a small opening in my heart and
[42:31]that verse can penetrate my heart and change me?
[42:36]Allah says always listen to the Quran.
[42:37]Always listen because you never know.
[42:40]It's worth it.
[42:39]Even if you spent 50 years listening to the Quran so that
[42:45]you wait for that one second that that verse enters your heart
[42:48]wall it's worth it because that verse will change everything in your
[42:53]life.
[42:54]This is how powerful the Quran is.
[42:56]The transform the transformative force of the Quran is able to change
[43:00]anyone brothers and sisters.
[43:04]It just has to find its way to the heart.
[43:06]So number one the Quran says When the Quran is recited, when
[43:18]you listen to the Quran, stay silent and and listen to the
[43:20]Quran.
[43:21]We said number one, show respect to the words of Allah.
[43:23]Number two, because you don't know when that verse may enter your
[43:31]heart and spark that transformation in your life.
[43:38]And finally, number three, and I'll be done, brothers and sisters.
[43:44]Number three, the third reason why when the Quran is being recited,
[43:48]we listen, is because theam tell us that Allah rewards you just
[43:57]for listening to the Quran.
[43:58]You know when you recite the Quran, when you read the Quran,
[44:03]Allah gives you a but that requires a little bit a little
[44:06]bit of effort.
[44:07]You have to open the Quran and you have to read.
[44:13]And in the month of Ramadan, Allah said, "Whoever, if you read
[44:23]one verse in the month of Ramadan, Allah gives you the of
[44:27]reciting the entire Quran, over 6,000 verses, just one verse.
[44:33]Allah gave me the of the entire Quran.
[44:35]Alhamdulillah.
[44:37]He gave me the of reciting the Quran twice.
[44:39]Now this is with reciting to the Quran.
[44:42]But for someone like me who's too busy, who's too lazy, even
[44:48]reciting Quran is too difficult.
[44:50]Allah sallallah.aii wasallam says you're too busy, you're too lazy, you don't
[44:56]know how to read.
[44:56]Allah says listen to the Quran and Allah will give you that
[45:03]same.
[45:00]The hadith of Allah says You don't have to necessarily read.
[45:10]Reading is good.
[45:13]But if that's difficult, listen.
[45:13]And listen is not hearing.
[45:16]You know, you're actually focused.
[45:17]Pay attention every day.
[45:20]10 minutes in the month of Ramadan.
[45:22]15 minutes.
[45:21]Turn on YouTube and listen to the Quran.
[45:24]But listen to it attentively.
[45:26]Not just with your ears, but with your mind and with your
[45:30]body and your soul.
[45:30]And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gives you that great.
[45:35]And I im says, "The one who listens, the one who listens
[45:40]to the Quran, Allah will give him for every word, for every
[45:48]letter that you listen, he will give you a and he will
[45:50]erase.
[45:50]He will erase a sin and he will elevate your status one
[45:56]degree.
[45:54]For every letter, how many letters are there in the Quran, brothers
[45:59]and sisters?
[45:59]And you're not reciting.
[46:02]You're only listening.
[46:02]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gives you that and that's why we come
[46:06]back to that point.
[46:08]How easy has Allah made religion?
[46:10]Brothers and sisters, I am so surprised.
[46:12]I mentioned this the other day and I'll mention it again and
[46:15]again and again.
[46:17]How is it that some of us feel it is difficult to
[46:18]please our Lord?
[46:20]When Allah says in the month of Ramadan, just listen to my
[46:23]words and I'll give you an unbelievable.
[46:26]Just breathe you get sleep you get anything you do you get
[46:33]have this is the mercy of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and that's
[46:40]why my dear brothers and sisters if you have the Quran to
[46:43]listen to accompanied with the duas of the where the prophet said
[46:52]I am leaving two heavy elements the Quran and my family If
[46:57]you have the Quran to listen to and duas to listen to
[47:02]in the month of Ramadan, this will give you the most beautiful
[47:07]recipe for creating a real living relationship with Allahel.
[47:13]You speak to Allah through dua Abu Hamali through dua through dua
[47:21]this beautiful dua of and then you listen to what Allah has
[47:28]to tell you when you listen to the holy Quran and tonight
[47:33]is it's a night that is dedicated for dua any but Thursday
[47:38]night of the month of Ramadan has even more blessings things.
[47:43]And one of the most beautiful duas that we read tonight is
[47:49]dua.
[47:51]It's a dua that revolves around speaking to Allah, asking him for
[47:59]our you begin the first passage of dua.
[48:04]Ya Allah, I ask you in the name of your mercy and
[48:08]then you go to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[48:11]You confess, you ask him for forgiveness.
[48:13]You ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to always be in your life.
[48:21]It's such a beautiful dua.
[48:22]Imagine what dua combined with the Quran im Ali and the words
[48:26]of Allah subhana wa ta'ala during together.
[48:29]Imagine what they can do to us.
[48:31]So my dear brothers and sisters, let us turn our hearts to
[48:37]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and let us focus our minds to the
[48:39]beautiful words of Ali as we listen to dua from our dear
[48:46]brother.
[48:49]I ask him to come inshallah to recite dua inshallah.
[48:55]Alhamdulillah.
