[0:24]for me the one moment of real we bought to me was
[0:30]when the children were standing in banal harming and they pledged their
[0:33]oath of allegiance to the Imam and when they said those words
[0:38]that we weren't there for you and we are young but we
[0:42]want to give our bodies our minds our souls to you I
[0:47]just I just brought [Music] [Music] I'll handle I've been had the
[1:19]to go to carbonara many times and it's always occurred to me
[1:25]that for children it's really difficult so many groups out there now
[1:29]who cater for English English language and they cater for for for
[1:33]people from the West but there was not really much for children
[1:37]and so what I having to bless haven't been blessed with two
[1:40]children myself I realize it's actually really difficult for them sort of
[1:43]lectures that are pretty late you know programs are lengthy so now
[1:47]as their last r-ryan I thought you know what my kids haven't
[1:50]been my family hasn't been and we need to create something in
[1:52]order to you know make it easier for them and to kind
[1:57]of make it make it make them want to come my name
[1:59]is Xena Lee and I am 12 years old in February of
[2:02]2018 my parents told me they booked for us to join footsteps
[2:09]- Jonah a trip taking us to the Holy Land in Iraq
[2:11]in April that very year having spent the past year dreaming about
[2:17]this opportunity I felt an overwhelming sense of contentment and happiness I
[2:24]had finally been invited by my Imams surely there must have been
[2:28]something I did wish the Imams appreciated so much that they considered
[2:32]me worthy enough to visit them I'm here with my family I'm
[2:36]hit brought my two children I have a son who's four and
[2:40]the son who's twenty two months my older one is Ali Hassan
[2:42]mullah Dina and my younger one is Ali Hussein mullah Dina and
[2:47]Ali has some more latina and I'm four years old and when
[2:50]two erupted wisdom my Imam on this trip there was member sujen
[2:56]my age we chose this group specifically this time realm because previously
[3:01]we went on adult basic groups this is more a child specific
[3:04]xerath group so for us we thought this would be really good
[3:08]for my older one to learn more of the story so for
[3:12]me at home I explain things to him but I explain things
[3:15]to him from my from my but the best way that I
[3:20]can for children so I would tell him was a bad guy
[3:23]did this to mom Hussein obviously someone else would explain it a
[3:26]bit differently someone who has a little bit more understanding of how
[3:28]to teach children so when I heard that they were taking this
[3:32]group with kids I thought this would be brilliant here with my
[3:34]daughter she her name is Laila Ali and she is seven year
[3:39]old this yard was specifically for Laila because I have been to
[3:42]the arts before with my other children they are older now and
[3:46]I was looking for a group which caters towards kids and this
[3:50]group actually offered that so that's why I signed up for we
[3:54]had any yet to come for Sierra because of my not right
[4:00]for my child we were looking for groups and then I spoke
[4:03]to sister Sakurai she arose and she had mentioned a group something
[4:08]like this where the kids were going to be the priority and
[4:11]it was like a like a prayer answered right so I didn't
[4:16]have to think about it I just signed up so I want
[4:21]to say a special Salam to the stars of our whole entire
[4:25]group you are the reason actually that we are here today of
[4:31]course we're here to meet Imam and to send our salaam but
[4:36]all the parents here and all the organizers made this particular trip
[4:40]especially so that you all could be here and see heaven on
[4:45]earth I felt really happy it was a kids group because so
[4:52]there would be activities that I could take part in and workshops
[4:56]where I could um make new friends and learn new things we
[5:03]began our trip with the holy city of Najaf the land which
[5:05]hosts the successor of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him our
[5:08]first Imam Imam Ali Abner boo Talib the group gathered in the
[5:15]lobby for an introductory program where auntie's are qirush IRA's explained to
[5:20]us the importance of the land of Najaf and how blessed we
[5:22]are to be here this is the city that imam ali salam
[5:28]was the king of he has walked these streets he has been
[5:31]around in this in this city and now we are walking probably
[5:36]on the same spots that he walked on the greatest man the
[5:40]one that's earth the strongest bravest the most pious the most eloquent
[5:45]it was amazing in every way and he is the greatest of
[5:51]the greatest and we are in his city as his guests I
[5:56]know people who have bought their tickets to come here they even
[6:00]paid for their room everything was paid for but their visa didn't
[6:03]come and they are crying literally crying because forget the money it
[6:09]I wanted to be in my job those who are here are
[6:13]the ones that are the chosen ones the first city event is
[6:15]neither money nor a Salam was buried in magic when we were
[6:25]in Najaf the first place we went to see imam ali all
[6:32]of the days I was sick so I couldn't go to the
[6:33]Sierra but on the last day we were no Jeff I I
[6:39]went when I was a little better so yeah I did get
[6:44]to go I felt really sad that I couldn't go all the
[6:51]other days so I kind of pushed myself to go on the
[6:52]last day and I'm really happy I could this is your retainer
[7:14]Heather and Heather Heather and who died are they ombré chuckling man
[7:24]he said he's lucky and God said hey haven't been in NYCHA
[7:33]for 30 fraud job the trip was actually organized for that to
[7:37]be the case reason being obviously sometimes when you're living in your
[7:42]own countries and you have days like 13th Rajab you go to
[7:45]the mosque to our program and you know it's very kind of
[7:47]its defined as to how you how you how you do it
[7:51]within countries whereas obviously being in Iraq being a Shia placed not
[7:54]Jeff you know the celebrations were over to three days and it
[7:57]was really really vibrant so I wanted the children to actually experience
[8:02]that and sometimes obviously you hear so much about these personalities you
[8:05]know from lectures from the member from workshops they do but actually
[8:18]bringing that to life for them was phenomenal one of the special
[8:27]things that we did was we actually had a program within the
[8:33]harem of Mali which is absolutely fantastic managed to attract such a
[8:36]big crowd and it was such a jubilant atmosphere all together so
[8:42]that was really one of the nights then the night before we
[8:58]were going too much of to see Ayatollah Sistani the we decided
[9:02]as penis of you know we would send the kids to bed
[9:09]that we be early and only I would go out and do
[9:10]this yet on myself and come back and the kids came back
[9:15]to them said no we want to go we said we're gonna
[9:20]go every day and all the day we leave I what's interesting
[9:22]about that as before obviously they were saying you know happy can
[9:26]when can you ride to the hotel but that turning point was
[9:31]what we you know particularly emphasized because when we had the lecture
[9:38]with syed ali abbas rose away was that he was talking about
[9:41]the imam calls you you know and he clearly he'd called the
[9:48]children otherwise you know any child girl yeah i'm happy to go
[9:51]to a sleep because I'm tired but in fact there's like no
[9:54]we're no we're gonna be tired when no we're gonna get really
[9:56]early in the morning but we want to go so that to
[10:00]me was reading correctly as a parent and both of us felt
[10:03]this is fantastic you know we how can one say no to
[10:08]shower when he they both expressed both my children express that they
[10:10]want to go now your nature and you have this optimism in
[10:13]your heart that this door can give me but imagine if you
[10:17]don't try to get it then what happens that there is no
[10:20]other door that's gonna give it to you so learn to be
[10:26]like a child it starts crying start begging and you know what
[10:30]just as the parents get embarrassed I think your mom's gonna turn
[10:33]you away to stir this makes guys crying in front of your
[10:37]heart break my heart and your heart break when you see somebody
[10:40]crying somebody in the harem that's crying the first thing your heart
[10:43]goes please alikes up this guy's door you can't take them cry
[10:48]you think I'm gonna lock my name can take you cry I
[10:49]think it was said that knowing that you cry for a month
[10:54]or say but the way the trip was organized that we used
[10:57]to have various lectures and session so in the morning sometimes would
[11:01]have the workshops for children whereby though to have be reciting with
[11:05]them with le father Linamar on day two they were trained to
[11:06]recite and the purpose of that was basically Odyssey give them confidence
[11:09]and by the kind of end day and end of the tenth
[11:14]day and of the trip we had a big presentation farewell program
[11:17]and what they practiced across those ten days is what they delivered
[11:22]in a presentation my aim is to hopefully form a choir who
[11:26]knows what a choir is what's the choir a group of people
[11:33]who sing all right so my aim and hopefully you guys are
[11:36]going to work with me is to form a choir upon which
[11:40]on the last day of this whole entire group we together are
[11:44]going to be presenting a a poem to the whole entire group
[11:51]I really enjoyed the workshops like I said before I can make
[11:54]new friends and learn new things and do fun activities and the
[12:02]the lectures because I could again like learn new stories and miracles
[12:08]that happened the recites were pivotal alongside obviously there are citations there
[12:12]engaging the kids in in in in classes in workshops and there
[12:18]was really powerful where the kids actually gain confidence in being able
[12:24]to recite some poems and poetry as he does as well memorable
[12:55]experience of the kids performing on the stage the closing ceremony where
[13:01]they were taught within the workshop how to recite machine bearing in
[13:05]mind of different ages of the kids they were from four years
[13:11]old three years old to up to 15 16 years old some
[13:12]of them have never been on the stage but they were up
[13:18]there performing to their best and the display was just unbelievable some
[13:23]had language barriers they came over that and they performed really really
[13:43]well [Music] our time in Najaf was special although I wish I
[13:58]could have spent more time beside my master we're now going to
[14:03]deport and head towards another sacred land the place upon which the
[14:07]angels are sent in their thousands every single day this city towards
[14:11]which thousands of lovers flock from around the world all year round
[14:16]the city of Karbala [Music] No [Music] [Music] Oh [Music] so in
[15:07]karbala we arrived very close to the date anniversary of the shadows
[15:14]of BP's a nepali salaam so it was again a great atmosphere
[15:17]there in Karbala when we arrived you know for them to see
[15:21]the other aspect the other side of mourning and how it's done
[15:24]and obviously you know nowadays it's such a multilingual place so you
[15:27]could see people you know sort of doing gala darian in order
[15:33]to you could see in Farsi from the Iranians and those lectures
[15:35]going on in the Haram in in Arabic recitation and I think
[15:39]all of that for the kids was was just amazing to see
[15:41]that this is how morning is done in a different way compared
[15:45]to what they just see on a daily basis and they when
[15:46]they hear Karbala has been has been his favorite place he came
[15:51]my older one came Ali Hassan came when he was 20 months
[15:53]the first time three the second and now he's four so for
[15:58]him this place feels like home so for him to come back
[16:01]here again it was just it was you she was just very
[16:03]joyful very happy so hadith that says that when Allah favors someone
[16:07]when he favors somebody he puts a speck of light in their
[16:15]heart that light has two-fold properties to it one is increases the
[16:18]love for imam hussain in your heart and one it drags you
[16:21]to the z/r of the month we'll say front the day maybe
[16:24]you feel all of a sudden you just want to go to
[16:27]the harem that feeling all of a sudden sitting there bang you
[16:29]want to go that's the mom for saying calling again that's the
[16:32]light which is still there but know something the opposite is also
[16:37]true when a log removes goodness from somebody's life he takes two
[16:41]things away number one he takes away the love of imam hussain
[16:43]and the love of the zr of the malthus a this is
[16:47]what chef abbas of whom was written and the hadith if you
[16:51]look at the sun it is a sir he is most of
[16:54]the heavy fulfil that if a person does not go to zero
[16:56]once every three years they marvel saying what happens he's cut from
[16:58]the wheel of the elevator having heard about that place all my
[17:02]life I was really grateful that my mum could take us here
[17:09]and I felt really lucky because not many people get to go
[17:13]on this trip when we go to our mosque Hussein him address
[17:18]in New York and go to the Zuri room we see miniature
[17:20]Zuri's and this is here and this is there and now we're
[17:26]taking them and we're bringing them to the life-sized versions and that's
[17:31]the most beautiful feeling when they see that anyone who has visited
[17:36]the shrine of imam hussein were to agree that to describe the
[17:39]feeling is close to impossible while you feel blessed to be in
[17:45]the vicinity of the man who is defined much of your life
[17:46]from since you were born like a lost soul who has finally
[17:53]found his way home you also overcome by immense grief as I
[17:57]approached the shrine of Imam Husain I kissed the doll about my
[18:02]head with tears in my eyes and slowly walked into the courtyard
[18:05]assalamu alayka ya soon allah assalamu alayka ya nabiyya allah assalamu alayka
[18:15]hartamanda being as salaamu alaik ASAE Dalmore said you cry for one
[18:21]hussein more than anyone in the world even other so it just
[18:26]made me pour my heart out and even though I was excited
[18:30]in the beginning when I I actually realized who I was visiting
[18:37]and then I just like poured my whole heart when we were
[18:40]visiting the shrine of imam hussain it was very busy you know
[18:46]people were all trying to touch the zuri of imam hussain and
[18:49]i i thought she is not gonna be comfortable going into that
[18:53]crowd and and i wanted to go and touch the zuri of
[18:57]course and i came out and she's like why did you come
[19:01]out and i was i told her it was very busy I
[19:04]don't think you can do it and she she held held my
[19:06]hand and she's like no I can do it and she actually
[19:09]dragged me in so she gave me that energy and that support
[19:12]which I was looking for and that's that was very touching yesterday
[19:18]we went you know to the harem and Kia and all of
[19:23]a sudden he was sitting in a corner like I was doing
[19:25]my to us and I see you know his eyes were you
[19:28]know red and I thought he was tired so I asked him
[19:32]you know why are you so quiet why you you know why
[19:36]you sitting quietly here in the corner he goes you know mom
[19:38]I'm very sad and I said why are you sad what happened
[19:43]you know did somebody say anything to you because no I'm sad
[19:47]because you know Mom our Imams are not here anymore you know
[19:50]they died and I said okay we can be sad but then
[19:57]you know let's make dua you know he goes mom I am
[20:00]sad that I won't be able to see them anymore I wish
[20:03]that you know I would see them and hug them and I
[20:05]felt that you know a little boy a six year old boy
[20:11]if he has that feelings if he is getting that feeling how
[20:16]would I you know give him that if I don't bring him
[20:17]to the earth how would I give him that I think it's
[20:22]very important to plant this seed at any age even if you
[20:25]bring them you know when they're little or old but it's just
[20:29]you have to have a connection to this land because this is
[20:32]who we are and we just have to know our Imams and
[20:38]why we mourn the way we do and since we are the
[20:43]dogs era our children needs to know what exactly happened here to
[20:47]stand at a place and to watch her brother being slaughtered even
[20:53]did this so that she could be a witness so she could
[20:55]tell us that I saw with my own eyes that my brother
[21:01]was alive and that he begged shimmer and shimmer without any any
[21:06]deals and I called out to my mother Oh what the my
[21:10]mother do you see what they're doing to your beloved for signing
[21:13]Oh mother do you see that this is the Hussain who is
[21:19]covered with arrows the one who was be saying or duty or
[21:22]kamusta lipid well those tears those arrows those arrows did not allow
[21:27]a person's body to touch the ground but we say this was
[21:31]the body of La Palma that had taken over scene in her
[21:36]arms shooting the Messiah off my mom and I slung off all
[21:43]and all the ones that we've been to I mean I took
[21:46]her in I took with myself a book which talks about the
[21:52]Messiah and I read thou in English to the children why was
[21:55]it a misery and what I had seen is that the emotions
[22:00]had grown over over the days that we've been here where they've
[22:04]actually shed some tears now if I look back at listening to
[22:09]modulus while in the Imam bargah and golf school I'm not I've
[22:15]not witnessed not they've seen us and they kind of look at
[22:17]me or my wife or people around and say oh they're crying
[22:23]but here they've actually seen tear drops like that I mean that
[22:27]softens the heart as we were told and I think for me
[22:31]that was a real turning point for the kids I think as
[22:33]well as as ourselves [Music] [Music] [Music] tell me to be patient
[22:58]I'm Imam Husayn means love and I believe to bring your children
[23:02]it doesn't there's no age minimum like minimum age limit to which
[23:06]you can bring your children the younger the children I feel it
[23:10]the better because younger children don't understand hate children understand love first
[23:14]so you bring them here they might not know the story they
[23:18]might not they might be too young to know the story they
[23:20]don't have an understanding or concept of who these people are at
[23:24]their age but they know the names we teach our children the
[23:25]names of the bunch of them from when they're babies so they
[23:29]know these names they hear them over and over again and then
[23:31]you bring them to this place the first thing they'll see is
[23:36]the love we have for mom Hussein and they themselves will feel
[23:38]that love they'll go to the shrines they'll hug the shrine they
[23:41]don't understand that you know someone is buried under there what is
[23:45]this gril they don't understand that children don't see those concepts but
[23:49]they see and understand love so by bringing them from a very
[23:53]young age that's the first thing they'll know about him I'm gonna
[23:57]know that he stood for love what he did wasn't wasn't for
[23:59]anything other than love for Allah and love for us he loved
[24:03]us and that's why he did what he did and for me
[24:06]bringing my children here I wanted them to understand that we love
[24:09]him and why we love him because of what he did and
[24:13]what love he had and by doing that then they will hopefully
[24:15]have the same love he had for Allah and for their fellow
[24:19]human beings and that's that's essentially what I would like [Music] [Music]
[24:43][Applause] thus yarra of karbala is far from complete without visiting Imam
[24:52]Hussain's beloved brother hazrat abbas we headed towards his shrine and gathered
[24:56]in the courtyard where brother Imran da2 recited some poetry with us
[25:02]in his honor pas de de Cicco es la parte de semana
[25:06]luger de santa came ACK de sica Kariba utica okay ha ha
[25:27]I'm going 200 Abbas for the first time during this trip we
[25:32]went went in there we rushed in towards the Zuri it was
[25:35]right before the hard time and we did we touched history and
[25:41]we were about to step out of the room because we wanted
[25:44]to join the Jamaat outside and and the doors were shut on
[25:50]us right as we were about to step out so for me
[25:54]it felt like he wanted us to stay in there so we
[25:56]did our demise in near his histories for me that was very
[26:02]emotional I couldn't hold my tears the whole time I'm just crying
[26:04]as I'm doing my namaz and I just it was it was
[26:07]a beautiful experience beautiful my favorite shrine was probably Hazzard Abbas is
[26:14]shrine because I always amazing how many people would pay their respects
[26:20]and cry and mourn him I felt really really kind of emotional
[26:27]when I went inside and I remembered how um Huzur at the
[26:32]boss lost his arms and died in regrew some way to save
[26:43]Islam you were my right hand you were my everything history tells
[26:50]us that that's what the boss was always standing beside him understand
[26:57]he was bodyguard and until he was with him no one could
[27:02]approach imam husain you so ruwaida that says that when Apple father
[27:10]Lovaas was riding he made a door he put his head up
[27:16]to pray you know when we pray we raise our hands to
[27:20]the skies right especially when it said an important walk a buzzient
[27:24]have any hands to raise he raised his head up when he
[27:26]raised his head up to Al I said to my mom I
[27:29]just want one thing from you and that is that this water
[27:33]gets back a reply comes from the skies it says that we
[27:35]haven't accepted your dog but we've made you bärbel halides though from
[27:43]this day onwards whoever you pray for be answered so fast there's
[27:47]one more thing then he says if you haven't accepted my door
[27:50]then I want to ask you for one more thing to make
[27:54]sure that my body never gets back into those fins because I
[27:59]feel embarrassed that those children are waiting the reason why this time
[28:05]is very emotional you'll see is that children will be coming and
[28:10]lighting these candles as they like those candles are put in the
[28:13]water and the hope is that this water takes its total from
[28:21]the low pass because of the kids around there's so much energy
[28:26]and there's so much faith Keon especially he he's not feeling well
[28:31]and you know he has he was having a stomach ache since
[28:36]the last two days and I told him today when we were
[28:39]in the harem he told she tells me that I have a
[28:43]stomachache mommy and my stomach is hurting I said you know what
[28:49]let's bring a mosque you know and you asked you know how
[28:51]about the bus because you're in the harem ask him to ask
[28:56]Allah to take your pain away and the childlike faith he stood
[29:01]up with me thrid namaz and after two minutes he was running
[29:06]around and I was like you just told me that your stomach
[29:11]is hurting why don't you sit down because mom it's gone it
[29:13]was like really because yeah didn't you tell me to pray and
[29:18]then my pain would go away so it's gone that fate you
[29:21]know so that's the energy of the kids and the faith you
[29:27]know the childlike faith is I feel that you know building a
[29:29]myself up you know in my faith this is where the 12th
[29:34]Imam comes they say that when he came here he comes to
[29:36]the floor art and he recited the art in Najia he began
[29:42]to recite and in time mercy mercy by my side for his
[29:47]judge Imam Hussain and he starts off by saying Salam on my
[29:51]judge who was slaughtered like a sheep is slaughtered on the plains
[29:56]of Karbala Salam on my judge whose body wasn't on the floor
[30:02]wasn't in the sky wasn't a bed of arrows you're lonely Imam
[30:04]comes here at least all of you are together when you go
[30:10]walking inside imam comes here by himself cries by himself beats his
[30:13]chest by himself recites two units have praised us there and then
[30:17]he walks himself all the way to the shrine of imam hussain
[30:22][Music] one of the major aspects of that kind of trip in
[30:31]karbala was we were able to help the kids pledge allegiance to
[30:36]the imams and to hasta pasta mama saying basilar membrane or her
[30:40]mane which is absolutely phenomenal so they were kind of dressed with
[30:43]their green sash it's and they were facing the shrine and brotherly
[30:48]father took them through an oath of allegiance which is phenomenal and
[30:51]just to see them standing there line in line shoulder to shoulder
[30:55]all the kids there it was such a wonderful sight to see
[31:03]obviously you've got the true shrines on either end and they're just
[31:06]standing there right there and literally you know reciting from their heart
[31:11]it was absolutely amazing you know the the word they were saying
[31:14]and you could actually see they were feeling what they were saying
[31:17]we would first go inside the shrine in PR specs then we
[31:25]would meet up between the two shrines and we would stand in
[31:30]in lines all the kids and we would make Hartlage salam alayka
[31:42]ya about abdullah o inherit ER of Prophet Adam prophet ibrahim and
[31:50]prophet nor peace be upon you I stand here before you from
[32:04]far lands bearing witness that you are the proof of Allah I
[32:11]feel really lucky to be there in front of him on soon
[32:17]and make that pledge for me the one moment that really got
[32:22]to me was when the children were standing in banal haramein and
[32:26]they pledged their oath of allegiance to the imam and when they
[32:29]said those words that we weren't there for you and we are
[32:36]young but we want to give our bodies our minds our souls
[32:38]to you I just I just broke because for me that that's
[32:45]my goal that's all I want for my kids from a young
[32:49]age I've had great love for Imam Hussain and the whole all
[32:52]the family oh ha ha ha ha babe but I've wanted that
[32:55]for my children and as you can see the name's Ali Hassan
[32:59]Ali Hussain like that's what I want and for me to hear
[33:02]my son stand in front of his Imam and say these things
[33:06]that the won't work at another one and I just hope and
[33:08]pray that from that moment from whenever I've brought them the first
[33:14]time till the day they leave this earth that they always have
[33:17]that love and they always pledge that oath here I stand bearing
[33:22]witness to your might I just want them to feel the same
[33:29]way I feel at my age or even now you know when
[33:33]you hear the word who's saying I want those tears coming out
[33:36]of their eyes I just want that love because once you have
[33:41]that love and the reliable e in your heart is they will
[33:44]not go astray in life ever I want her to keep the
[33:55]connection she built here or established here you know keep that connection
[34:00]with their moms when she goes home and she thinks about it
[34:05]and I'm definitely going to make sure that I talk about it
[34:08]and you know we want that connection to be there always [Music]
[34:25]after she's been to several lectures with zacchara she Rose I'm seeing
[34:37]that understanding or in her of karbala of a mom saying her
[34:41]etiquettes have changed she was worth taking it at first she was
[34:44]taking it very lightly but after several sessions and several talks in
[34:50]the bus which Zakia sharrows she actually now understanding what is it
[34:54]all about you know what she's supposed to do what is expected
[34:57]out of her when sister Charles was giving much less on baby
[35:02]sign up the other day I saw coos um getting really teary
[35:04]eyed and for me that was like wow you know she's you
[35:08]know for a six-year-old to cry at a much less for me
[35:11]that was a big thing as a mom you know so for
[35:14]me that's the highlight of my trip there's a beautiful that even
[35:17]shallow and be in Karbala I will share it with you with
[35:21]a 60-mile praise for desiring awesome beautiful hadith indeed what he prays
[35:26]for these diarrhea and all the difficulties that they're facing that oh
[35:29]allah bless them for every difficulty they took because they came to
[35:35]visit us and you know when they visited that was what they
[35:38]did they made our enemies angry I think it's important to give
[35:41]your thanks to Imam Ali and Imam Hussain for their greatness for
[35:51]sacrificing their family and themselves to save our religion the same some
[35:56]widows Yared to give a salutation to our imams but within that
[36:00]is the respect that we have to what they've done what they've
[36:07]taught us they've taught us the the conduct of love sacrifice confidence
[36:14]the bravery that they they had from the little Hazrat Ali Asghar
[36:20]alaysalam - to the brotherly love that imam hussein it was at
[36:25]the bath displayed sinus - the living miracle fourteen hundred years later
[36:29]still as relevant as he was fourteen hundred years ago even if
[36:34]there was no miracle the factors that were alive because of them
[36:37]are passing and that's the biggest miracle in itself the fact that
[36:40]it brings you to tears that's a miracle nobody brings you to
[36:46]tears honestly 1400 years later you forget your great grandparents and grandparents
[36:49]and parents off for a while the good I didn't see 1400
[36:53]years later you're still crying and that's a major major miracle and
[36:56]I say that with complete authority that takes millions of people every
[36:59]single year from all walks of life towards them are the same
[37:04]not everybody has an opportunity to read the floor arm but what
[37:06]sign is the only person that I've seen Christians cry and I've
[37:11]seen juice crying Hindus cry only recently in fact because of the
[37:14]tragedy of them are the same they've never touched the floor on
[37:17]but Hussein is an embodiment of the Quran it's free mom or
[37:21]saying that you come to understand Kalama law and this is why
[37:24]we're different and we're special we are lacking role models in our
[37:27]society especially in the West these days so we all we have
[37:32]is a little bit and we are blessed that we have them
[37:36]so you know we the more we'll connect our children to a
[37:40]little bait they're not going to look for role models anywhere else
[37:42]so I think and that's what I did for my other children
[37:44]too and I hope and pray that I can do that for
[37:47]Leila as well I feel that raising children wasn't going to quite
[37:50]young it's very difficult we're bombarded every day by different things so
[37:57]they've got their tablets they've got all sorts of gizmos and gadgets
[38:01]and it's so easy with all of that to forget and to
[38:03]get lost and kids these days I find or more visual because
[38:08]that's what they have the tablets that iPads the funky watches so
[38:11]for them they learn a lot more visually if you tell them
[38:15]a concept like how we learned when we were younger that this
[38:16]is your mom who saying this is what happened they don't take
[38:20]it in as easily as we would have when we were growing
[38:22]up so we're bringing them here by showing them by showing them
[38:27]what people are doing what the behavior is the etiquette is they
[38:30]themselves will pick it up naturally if you've got the opportunity to
[38:35]do something really rare so not many people get to do I
[38:42]think make a count and really try our hardest to make the
[38:45]most out of it like because I was sick I still I
[38:50]was already determined to go param respects to Imam Ali and I
[38:54]did also because in because it was so hot I still had
[39:02]to push myself and to get through the heat my son I
[39:05]think he's gained more of an understanding because he's learned with the
[39:10]other children and he's done things with the other children and he's
[39:15]been more willing to try out new experiences while he's been here
[39:18]so normally he can he can tends to be a bit shy
[39:21]sometimes but in these group environments with the kids he had no
[39:24]problems pledging the oath of allegiance that day Imam Hussain he's also
[39:26]gone out and wanted to help more people as we're walking along
[39:30]the streets of herb Allah he'll point them out and say Oh
[39:33]mommy look let's go help this person let's go give them some
[39:36]food or some money because he's seen the older children do that
[39:39]so he's been more willing to to participate in these activities so
[39:42]I think from this trip I feel he's enjoyed it more because
[39:48]he's learned from his older his older friends in the group as
[39:50]we approach the end of our trip I felt a deep sadness
[39:54]about leaving the city we prepared to bid farewell to Imam Hussein
[39:57]and his wrath Abbas and gathered in the hotel lobby where we
[40:03]had speeches by said Ali Abbas rasoi antes de Caro gyros and
[40:06]other important members of our group you say to Imam but I'm
[40:11]leaving not because I want to or because I'm tired I'm going
[40:14]because I have to go any mom don't let this be my
[40:20]last Sarah please call me again and again you know you're so
[40:23]right Xena because even though we have this great hope in us
[40:29]that you know this is one of many footsteps - Jenna and
[40:31]we pray that we can come again and again with this group
[40:35]so we can all grow together I want to say don't think
[40:38]that you're just gonna come back you gotta pray for that and
[40:42]you got a craze for that cuz I snuck into the suitcase
[40:44]but you guys don't have to you can just tell your parents
[40:48]buying a ticket true true indeed amazing I love from the trip
[40:52]was the value of Islam and the value of family and like
[41:01]you should always look after family and learn to be brave from
[41:06]hazard Abbas and unto peace and to be strong from hazard Abbas
[41:16]and to be kind from Imam Hussain spending the last few days
[41:19]beside the master of martyrs allowed me to realize how much he
[41:22]truly means to me visiting this land had changed my life forever
[41:27]and I knew that no matter how far I go I will
[41:29]always hold the land of Karbala very close to my heart I'm
[41:38]running him I said I'm running some of the comments when I
[41:52]came back from the Zurich trip I mean we had after a
[41:53]couple of weeks one of one of the young girls parents had
[41:57]hinted for in a message to me and they were saying how
[41:59]the young child who woke up in the night and you know
[42:03]wearing the perfume that she bought from there because it reminded her
[42:06]of being near the shrine that's absolutely beautiful and if you if
[42:10]the young kid from young age can develop that sense of closeness
[42:12]that abate it's what you can ask for and that kind of
[42:16]then kind of keeps keeps you kind of happy I guess the
[42:19]fact that when they and then entering to the different stages of
[42:21]the life as they're growing up if they have that solid foundation
[42:23]it'll be very easy for them to then continue on the path
[42:28]and obviously have that protection with them so really instilling that from
[42:31]a young age allowing them that sense of closeness that sense of
[42:35]direction and and and and obviously the kind of history and the
[42:39]stories we hear actually bringing us life for them you know we
[42:42]hear the narrations of karbala every year year in year out but
[42:45]hearing from a lecture and actually if being physically there and seeing
[42:48]you can actually kind of physically visualize this is where the camp's
[42:51]were this is where you know has the bosses right hand was
[42:55]you can actually then sense that and I guess when you hear
[42:57]it again it becomes very different and kids are sometimes some kids
[43:00]are obviously very much more kind of hands-on so they want to
[43:04]see that instead of kind of just hearing and it's great to
[43:06]bring that to life for them [Music] [Music]
