[0:14]foreign foreign [Music] in our previous lecture we shed light on certain
[0:49]verses in surat that mentioned what new hadith said to his people
[0:55]we shed light firstly on his word won't you be pious and
[1:06]we explained that it makes perfect sense for no to demand his
[1:11]people to be pious although they were disbelievers because piety is a
[1:19]deep concept and there are different types of piety piety and beliefs
[1:26]piety in practices and piety and morals hence when he says won't
[1:33]you be pious he is telling them to believe in the truth
[1:37]and to disbelieve in falsehood just as he is telling them to
[1:42]perform the deeds that please allah azzawajal and to refrain from performing
[1:51]deeds that displease the almighty secondly we shed light on the word
[1:55]obey me and we said this word indicates that no is infallible
[2:04]because when a group of people are commanded to obey a particular
[2:13]person without limits to obey him at all times this indicates the
[2:18]individual is infallible because if he wasn't infallible there would be a
[2:26]possibility that he misses them there would be a possibility that he
[2:29]commands them to sin instead of commanding them to obey allah subhanahu
[2:33]wa'ta'ala so long that this possibility exists allah azzawajal won't command us
[2:39]to obey a particular person without limits so anu says obey me
[2:47]we understand that this type of obedience has no limits that they
[2:51]should obey him at all times hence he must be infallible this
[2:58]was the second point we mentioned a third point we mentioned was
[3:03]the word of no compense the recompense for his message as he
[3:09]said according to according to sharia he told his people that i
[3:24]do not ask you for a recompense for it meaning for delivering
[3:29]the message took us where it took us to the recompense of
[3:38]rasulallah we said that when we skim through the holy quran from
[3:42]cover to cover we find that all the prophets mentioned in the
[3:47]quran never ask their people for a recompense for delivering the message
[3:55]except for one ninja the final and greatest messenger muhammad i do
[4:10]not ask you for a recompense for it meaning for delivering the
[4:15]message except loving my near relatives the question that we asked yesterday
[4:26]is why would he ask for a recompense if you remember we
[4:30]connected certain verses the verses in the quran that speak about the
[4:36]recompense of rasulallah and we came out with the following conclusion rasulullah
[4:43]never asked the people for a worldly gain or a worldly benefit
[4:50]in exchange of delivering the message rather he demanded them to love
[4:59]and considered that to be the recompense for delivering his message because
[5:04]allah and rasulallah wanted to show us the unique and great status
[5:12]that hold in the eyes of allah and because loving benefits us
[5:21]so the recompense of rasulullah loving in reality the nation we are
[5:32]the ones who are in need of loving for their love will
[5:39]lead us to salvation and eternal mercy then again we are the
[5:44]ones who will be harmed if we despise for despising them will
[5:49]lead us where it will lead us to eternal punishment all of
[5:56]these points were mentioned yesterday the last point we mentioned was the
[6:00]following and from here we start with the new lecture the last
[6:07]point we mentioned was when we read surat we find that multiple
[6:12]prophets said certain words said the same word to their people they
[6:21]said the same words to their people what words are we referring
[6:26]to the following ones surely i am a messenger sent to you
[6:32]and i am trustworthy and obey me and i do not ask
[6:46]you for a recompense for it is upon the lord of the
[6:55]worlds all of the prophets or most of the prophets to be
[7:00]more precise in surat most of the prophets mentioned in swaras said
[7:07]these words to their people so the question is why would allah
[7:15]repeat these statements why would he mention that [Music] said the exact
[7:27]same words to their people the answer is allah indirectly wants to
[7:37]tell us that the messages of the prophets are in reality one
[7:42]message the the prophets of god they call to the same path
[7:52]and they call to the same message all of them call to
[7:57]the path of what islam submitting to allah subhanahu wa the quran
[8:06]makes it clear for us that all of god's prophets a muslim
[8:17]is a person who submits to the commands and the will of
[8:24]allah hence speaks about certain prophets and comes forth and describes them
[8:43]for you telling you that this prophet was a muslim and that
[8:46]prophet was a muslim and that third prophet was also a muslim
[8:51]let me give you a bunch of examples on this regard as
[8:56]we connect the verses of the quran let's not forget we are
[9:00]living the month of ramadan and it is the month in which
[9:05]the holy quran descended ramadan the prophet whose story we are analyzing
[9:17]at the moment speaks about new and mentions what new told his
[9:28]people part of the words he said was the following muslim and
[9:37]i've been commanded to be from the muslims meaning to be from
[9:42]those who submit the god subhana question when a prophet is commanded
[9:49]by allah azzawajal to perform a particular deed does he obey god
[9:54]or disobey him obviously he obeys him so when nu says i've
[10:00]been commanded to be from those who submit from the muslims what
[10:05]does that mean it means he submitted to god it means he
[10:12]was a muslim this is new as for ibrahim allah he said
[10:34]i have submitted to the lord of the worlds he has submitted
[10:41]indeed ibrahim's submission was impeccable for reach the level in which ibrahim
[10:49]was willing to slaughter his own son for the sake of allah
[10:56]he was willing and actually tried to slaughter his own son isma'il
[11:00]when allah commanded him to do so this is how submissive ibrahim
[11:07]was then again allah mentions that ibrahim and isma'il both of them
[11:18]were muslim where also in surat al-baqarah verse 128 as allah mentions
[11:24]their prayer the prayer that they performed the supplication they performed when
[11:32]they were building the ka'ba the bases of the kaaba were present
[11:41]but ibrahim and isma's were raising the kaaba by completing its its
[11:49]building nonetheless as they were building the kaaba they recited this application
[11:54]and part of it was the following our lord make both of
[12:05]us make both of us from those who submit to you ya
[12:12]allah make us people who submit to you oh god here they're
[12:19]asking allah azzawajal for what they're asking him for godly aid the
[12:25]god the aid they need to actually submit to the almighty then
[12:29]they say and bring a nation who will submit to you from
[12:42]our progeny so here they're making two requests number one they want
[12:46]allah to give them the god the aid they need in order
[12:50]to submit to the almighty secondly they want allah to bring a
[12:58]great nation from their offspring who will also submit to allah what's
[13:06]interesting here is that there is a verse in the current taurat
[13:12]in the current torah in the old testament that confirms what the
[13:18]quran is saying i'm not saying this to tell you that the
[13:22]quran is in need of any other book to come forward and
[13:30]confirm its words the quran is an independent book it's a strong
[13:37]and wise book that stands on its own feet for it is
[13:41]the eternal miracle of rasulallah however i tell you that there is
[13:53]a verse in the current torah that confirms what this verse in
[13:57]the quran is saying so that those who believe in the current
[13:59]torah so that the jews and or christians who believe in the
[14:07]current torah realize whatever the taurat is mentioning was also mentioned in
[14:15]the quran that the current torah is confirming what the quran has
[14:21]said what did the current torah said what did the current torah
[14:26]say it said in genesis chapter 17 verse 20.
[14:30]allah subhanahu wa apparently mentions that he he answers a supplication done
[14:41]by ibrahim ibrahim performs a supplication related to ismai so allah responds
[14:50]to him saying and regarding ishmael meaning is my i have heard
[14:57]you meaning i've heard you and i will answer your prayer behold
[15:02]i have blessed him and i will make him fruitful and i
[15:09]will multiply him exceedingly so allah is promising ibrahim that he will
[15:14]bestow his blessing upon israel and that he will multiply him what
[15:20]does that mean it means that there will be a lot of
[15:23]people who will be part of ismail progeny then he says he
[15:33]will beget 12 princes and i will make him into a great
[15:40]nation realize allah is giving ibrahim good news or bad news he's
[15:45]giving him good news he's telling him there will be a great
[15:53]nation that will stem or that will be part of which means
[15:57]that nation won't be only abundant in number it won't only be
[16:02]a huge nation when it comes to the number of people who
[16:06]are part of that nation it will also be a nation that
[16:10]pleases allah subhanahu wa for if allah told ibrahim that will have
[16:22]a humongous offspring however that offspring will deviate that offspring will be
[16:30]an evil offspring that won't be good news to give to ibrahim
[16:36]even if they're abundant in amount ultimately if they're evil or they
[16:42]deviate that won't benefit much it will benefit them and make him
[16:47]happy since allah is giving ibrahim good news when he tells him
[16:58]that there will be a great nation who shall come from the
[17:04]offspring of ismail this indicates that nation will be a good nation
[17:09]a nation that pleases allah subhanahu wa and they will also be
[17:17]abundant in number so here the people the people who believe in
[17:22]the current torah must ask themselves [Music] which nation is this what
[17:30]nation is allah mentioning is it any nation other than the nation
[17:37]of islam could it be any nation other than the nation of
[17:45]islam other than the could it be any group other than the
[17:50]forefathers of rasulallah and the muslims who were mentions to ibrahim that
[18:10]there will be 12 princes who will also be part of ismail's
[18:14]project the question is who are those twelve princes have we forgotten
[18:21]that we believe in twelve imams and all of them are from
[18:27]the progeny of ismail up until now we've confirmed that the quran
[18:35]says no ibrahim and isma'il were muslim they would submit they submitted
[18:44]to allah now let us go to yahoo and his children and
[18:49]quran kareem tells you that his children were also what were also
[18:54]muslim as allah says verse 133 is when he told his sons
[19:25]what will you worship after me before we listen to their response
[19:30]realize is on his deathbed and he's worried for his children he's
[19:38]worried over what over their faith what will they worship after my
[19:46]departure from this world such is the good father a good father
[19:51]isn't only a man who cares for the for the physical health
[20:00]or cares over the physical health of his children a good father
[20:07]is one who cares over the spiritual health and physical health of
[20:13]his children bear in mind that the spiritual health of a person
[20:19]is more important than his physical health hence when he's on his
[20:29]deathbed is worried what will my children worship after me when he
[20:33]asks them they answer back they said we will worship your god
[20:49]and the god of your forefathers abraham ismail and isaac what he
[20:57]is one god meaning a god with no partners and no likes
[21:03]we will worship him as we are from those who submit to
[21:13]god subhan so the children of yaakov were muslim which implies that
[21:19]was also a muslim why because if yahoo didn't want his children
[21:29]to be muslim if yahoo wasn't pleased with islam as a religion
[21:34]when they said this word he would have done what he would
[21:39]have objected to their words but on the contrary islam was his
[21:44]religion and they knew this hence they said this word to please
[21:49]their father so yeah and his children according to the holy quran
[21:55]were muslim now let us go to yusuf allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala mentions
[22:01]yusuf bear in mind yusuf is one of yahoo's children but even
[22:06]then when allah mentions the prayer of yusuf the prayer he does
[22:15]after his calamities come to an end in surah yusuf allah mentions
[22:20]that use of goes through different types of calamities and so does
[22:29]yahoo when those calamities come to an end and the family is
[22:33]finally reunited in jaip youssef performs a supplication in that supplication allah
[22:43]subhanahu wa mentions that yusuf was also muslim so he emphasizes on
[22:49]the islam of yusuf what does yusuf say part of what he
[22:53]said was the following you can find it in verse 101 of
[22:58]yourself anymore you are my guardian in this world and the next
[23:12]which means you are the one who manages my affairs and leads
[23:21]me toward to what is good when you take my soul take
[23:29]it as i am in a state of islam in a state
[23:34]of submission to you and place me with those who are righteous
[23:40]so yusuf was also muslim now let us go to musa musa
[23:48]the main prophet in judaism jews the jews consider musa their main
[23:57]prophet to be the founder of the religion correct the quran says
[24:28]if you have believed in allah then rely on him realize how
[24:37]musa considers reliance to be the natural effect of belief if you
[24:44]believe in allah if you truly believe in allah azzawajal then you
[24:49]won't find it extremely difficult to rely on him how could you
[24:56]when you believe in god and you believe in his power and
[25:00]his knowledge and his mercy and his kindness etc and you know
[25:05]that if you rely on the almighty what will happen if you
[25:12]rely on the almighty allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala won't let you down he
[25:19]will take care of your affairs and will take by your hand
[25:21]and lead you to what benefits you so he tells them in
[25:26]kuntum amantum if you are muslims so we realize that musa is
[25:44]enjoining his people to be muslims here we too remember that the
[25:49]prophets of god when they command their people to perform a particular
[25:56]deed they perform it before them because the prophets are not only
[26:03]prophets of words they're prophets of action as well they put their
[26:08]words into action they implement their teachings and words so when a
[26:15]prophet commands his people to perform a deed he performs it before
[26:18]them and when a prophet forbids his people of committing a deed
[26:23]he refrains from it before them so if musa is in joining
[26:29]his people to be muslim meaning to be from those who submit
[26:33]that means he is muslim he submits in fact that the magicians
[26:45]of pharaoh as well wanted to be muslim the the the magicians
[26:55]of pharaoh as well asked allah subhanahu wa to make them from
[27:00]those who submit so they understood that ultimately the message of musa
[27:06]is a message of islam a message of submission when did they
[27:12]ask allah to make them from those who submit prior to their
[27:17]martyrdom as you may know the magicians of pharaoh had committed a
[27:24]lot of sins in their life but on the last day of
[27:28]their life when the showdown happened between them and musa and they
[27:33]saw the miracle of musa which was the staff turning into a
[27:39]serpent and they saw how that serpent actually came forward and started
[27:42]swallowing their ropes and stops rapidly they understood this was not magic
[27:48]they knew themselves they knew that they were magicians but when they
[27:54]saw moosa's miracle they knew this was a miracle from allah so
[27:59]they fell into prostration and believed in god moses and aaron when
[28:08]they revealed their faith pharaoh threatened them and promised to kill them
[28:17]in a vicious manner so these magicians did what they turned to
[28:25]allah surat in tells us in verse 126 they said the following
[28:37]upon us they're asking allah to pour patience upon them why because
[28:44]when you are afflicted with a severe punishment by an enemy of
[28:50]god you need to be patient last you abandon your faith you
[28:56]need to be patient so that you remain faithful hence they ask
[29:01]allah for patience and they said and take our souls as we
[29:09]are in a state of islam in a state of submission these
[29:15]are who the magicians are pharaoh if we go to sulaiman allah
[29:21]azzawajal also mentions that sulaiman was a muslim was a sun worshiper
[29:39]she would worship the sun with her people she was guided through
[29:47]and she entered upon sulaiman and witnessed the marvelous kingdom that sulaiman
[29:56]had as you know the prophets in general had miracles right prophet
[30:00]salallahu had different types of miracles that would confirm their prophethood iman's
[30:08]miracle was his own kingdom so when she saw the kingdom of
[30:16]sulaiman she was mesmerized and said the following word according to verse
[30:20]44 she said my lord i have done injustice to myself i've
[30:31]oppressed myself to allah the lord of the worlds so she understood
[30:49]was a muslim and now she was announcing her islam saying i've
[30:53]entered islam as well and i have submitted to allah subhanahu wa
[30:59]if we go to the prophets of banu israel and quran makes
[31:06]a general statement telling us that the prophets of banu israel were
[31:12]also muslim where in surah tillman verse 44 allah says surely we
[31:27]have brought down the torah and it contains or as it contains
[31:33]guidance and light according to saying the word guidance here refers to
[31:44]the pieces of knowledge found in the torah which guide people to
[31:52]the straight path whereas the word nu the word light refers to
[31:58]the laws the divine laws found in the torah nonetheless allah says
[32:02]surely we have brought down the taurat as it contains guidance and
[32:10]light he says the prophets would come forth and use this taurat
[32:26]to judge between who between the jews but surprisingly he tells you
[32:34]those prophets were what muslim they had submitted to allah felt disbelief
[33:12]from them meaning from the children of israeli not all of them
[33:17]were disbelievers but some disbelieved unfortunately now here we have to realize
[33:26]this belief is a metaphysical issue so one might say how did
[33:28]isa feel this belief from them how did he feel their disbelief
[33:35]the answer is isa witnessed certain actions or heard certain words from
[33:41]those people which indicated that they were disbelievers so when he felt
[33:49]their disbelief what did he do he said who will support me
[33:56]meaning you will support my message and walk on the path that
[34:01]leads to allah's pleasure who will support me and walk with me
[34:07]on the path which leads to allah's pleasure allah here a mysterious
[34:15]group of people who were known as the how are you these
[34:18]people made a statement these people become the disciples of isa what
[34:27]did they say we are the supporters of allah we will support
[34:38]you and by supporting you we will be supporting your lord allah
[34:52]and bear witness that we have submitted that we are muslims when
[35:00]they say and bear witness that we are muslims this word indicates
[35:09]that was also what was also muslim because he's asking them who
[35:13]is going to support me obviously if you want to support the
[35:16]prophet what do you do you follow his teachings right you follow
[35:21]his path you don't go against that path so by them saying
[35:26][Music] and we are from those who submit to allah subhana wa
[35:32]that means also submitted after these words after connecting these verses together
[35:43]we realize that allah confirms the submission of several prophets in the
[35:54]quran as he mentions them by name here one might object and
[36:01]say however you haven't mentioned all the prophets there are much more
[36:09]prophets that allah sent to humanity tradition say allah sent 124 000
[36:15]prophets to people to humanity and only about 30 of them were
[36:20]mentioned by name in the quran so what about the rest of
[36:26]the prophets how could you make a claim one will say how
[36:30]can you make a claim that all prophets were muslim but all
[36:39]prophets submitted to allah islam and other prophets islam explicitly in the
[36:58]quran allah made one bold statement in the quran indicating that every
[37:02]prophet from the first to the last were muslim the religion with
[37:26]allah is what is islam when he says the religion with allah
[37:32]is islam what does that mean it means multiple things number one
[37:39]number one all of the prophets shared the same religion they were
[37:46]all following the same path and same religion secondly it means all
[37:53]of them called to islam meaning to submit to the almighty subhanahu
[37:58]wata so the next time someone asks you what was the first
[38:04]religion on the face of the earth what was the first religion
[38:11]in the history of mankind your answer should be islam for the
[38:16]history of mankind begins with who it begins with adam and eve
[38:23]was a prophet of god and we said all prophets were one
[38:27]where muslim they submitted to the almighty this leaves us with a
[38:38]question what is islam i mean we understand that you're saying islam
[38:43]is submission but what is submission what is the submission this is
[38:50]where we need to analyze a word uttered by the commander of
[38:56]the faithful emirates the sermon was delivered days after the prophet's demise
[39:18]in it he defined islam hence tonight we're going to read the
[39:26]word of and tomorrow will dissect this important word in order to
[39:33]understand what the imam salaam allah is saying the word i'm about
[39:39]to recite can be found in multiple sources you can find it
[39:44]in the book you can find it you can also find it
[39:48]in bear in mind that there are a few versions for this
[39:56]word and there are few differences slight differences in the different versions
[40:01]of imam hadi's work but in general all of these sources have
[40:08]agreed on the major part of amir al-mu'min's i shall describe and
[40:37]define islam in a way no one has done so before me
[40:44]and no one will describe islam [Music] in the same way no
[40:51]one will describe and define islam in the same way after me
[40:58]there is in addition in another version of this hadith which says
[41:08]no one will be able to define and describe islam the way
[41:16]i will do so unless unless he presents a similar definition to
[41:23]mine so what is this definition let me give you let me
[41:28]read it for you and give you the literal translation and shalom
[41:31]tomorrow will dissect it the believer has taken his religion from his
[42:07]lord and has not based his religion on his opinion o people
[42:17]adhere to your religion adhere to your religion hold on to it
[42:27]do not allow anyone [Music] committing a sin whilst you believe in
[42:45]your religion meaning the religion of truth is better than committing a
[42:50]good deed whilst you follow a false religion again tomorrow will explain
[42:56]this statement [Music] if a person commits a sin and he's following
[43:11]the religion of truth his sin may be forgiven whereas if a
[43:19]person is following a religion of falsehood his good deed won't be
[43:23]accepted what i
