[5:29]people and especially the youth there is this rising question how can

[5:41]we implement and learn from Imam Ali Ali his Salaam 1400 years

[5:46]later you're talking about a man who lived 14 centuries ago in

[5:51]this day and age what can we learn from a personality who

[5:56]lived 14 centuries ago - even if we learn something from this

[6:06]personality from 14 centuries ago how can we derive any implications in

[6:11]this day and age in the 21st century for example you people

[6:18]here living in this part of the world in the 21st century

[6:22]a question might arise if we did not know about Aliona be

[6:27]a pile of alayhis-salam if I really had no idea who he

[6:32]was what was his life like how will that impact my life

[6:34]how will it change my life what difference would it make to

[6:40]me and what difference would it make to our environment I think

[6:44]these are very serious questions they're very important questions and insha'Allah Allah

[6:48]gives us tophi achlys are the kind of questions we would like

[6:52]to address very briefly of course over the next three nights tonight

[6:57]we will Shahla discuss very briefly about the life of this great

[7:03]personality and we'll touch upon one or two points but tomorrow insha'Allah

[7:11]we'll focus a bit more about some of the important lessons that

[7:18]we can learn from him that we can implement in this day

[7:21]and age and that will be the same issue we will address

[8:29]peace be upon him had an uncle by the name of Al

[8:39]abbas and abbas the uncle of the Prophet al-abbas had a unique

[8:45]position before Islam when caravans used to come to Mecca now remember

[8:54]matka was a city which was revered even before Islam the Kaaba

[8:59]people used to come to pilgrim around the Kaba to do pilgrimage

[9:07]around the Kaaba and to walk between the mountains of Safa and

[9:10]Marwah there are two mountains there which people do sorry they walk

[9:14]between them so that these traditions which they learned from prophet Morel

[9:19]and his father Prophet Ibrahim alayhi wassalam these traditions were passed on

[9:25]from generation to generation so they had some reverence and most of

[9:30]you here might be familiar with the famous story of the elephant

[9:33]when the King you know Abraha tried to come and demolish the

[9:39]Kaaba because of its reverence people were going to the Kaaba to

[9:45]do this and this is prior to the prophets even birth so

[9:47]this king Abraha was upset that why do people go to the

[9:53]cabin why don't they come to me and so he gathered a

[9:57]big army and he decided to go and demolish the Kaaba at

[10:02]the time the prophet's grandfather Abdul Muttalib was the head of the

[10:09]Quraysh and the tribe of Croatia so Abdul Muttalib met with Abraha

[10:14]and told Abraha listen you're coming here to demolish the Kaaba my

[10:25]request of you is that you do not steal any of the

[10:27]wealth of the people people who have for example camels they have

[10:33]their stuff don't touch their stuff leave the stuff alone Abraha says

[10:38]I was really surprised because I was taken aback by the greatness

[10:42]of Abdul Muttalib the man had a really a lot of an

[10:48]aura as he walked in although abraham self was a king abdullah

[12:34]was the same year that our prophet salaallah alayhi wa was born

[12:40]so the Kaaba had its reverence and in fact this incident even

[12:43]added more to the reverence of Quraysh and the holy Kaba because

[12:48]people at this point realized they cannot mess with the whoreish and

[12:53]don't mess with the Kaaba because God will protect it so that

[12:59]even added to the significance but you see this is the ancestry

[13:02]of the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa ala this is the ancestry

[13:06]of imam ali IBN ABI talib they came from this family a

[13:12]noble family so this cabin this house of allah subhanahu wata'ala which

[13:17]has its reverence people used to come and visit this cabin on

[13:24]a regular basis al abbas had a position where he used to

[13:28]serve water to those people who would come to the cabin remember

[13:33]we're talking about a desert so people would be crossing desert until

[13:37]they reach Mecca so he comes thirsty they come tired al-abbas had

[13:42]the pride and the honor of serving those pilgrims with water there

[13:50]was another man by the name of Sheba Sheba had the keys

[13:57]to the cabin you know that Kaaba has a gate Sheba had

[14:00]the keys to the gate so one day a bus was talking

[14:06]to Schaben and this was after islam and after the loss of

[14:11]vanuatu allah said our prophet and now matka came under the control

[14:17]of muslims as i mentioned a couple of nights ago in one

[14:20]of the incidents so after this one day al abbas and Sheba

[14:26]are sitting down to discuss now they are discussing and kind of

[14:34]the honor of serving water to the Hajj to the pilgrims when

[14:59]as we know today a king holds the keys to this cabin

[15:02]and as we understand today that holding the keys to the Kaaba

[15:10]is no merit at all because some of maybe God's worst creation

[15:14]on earth today hold the keys to the Kaaba so that is

[15:19]no merit at all that's something we can understand today people who

[15:26]sign contracts worth four hundred fifty billion dollars to purchase arms and

[15:34]kill innocent people and those are the same people who hold the

[15:37]keys to the Kaaba so we understand today that having the keys

[15:42]to the Kaaba is no merit at all but back in those

[15:47]days 1400 years ago Schabel and Abbas were kind of having this

[15:52]show off show competition as who's better imam ali of navi a

[16:41]who first believed in the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa ala I

[16:46]stood next to him I migrated with him I fought next to

[16:52]him and I helped defend the religion of Islam I sacrificed for

[16:56]the sake of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala that is far better than

[16:59]you two holding the keys to the cab and giving water to

[17:04]the pilgrims especially when at that time neither one of you was

[17:08]even a Muslim you guys did not even do it for the

[17:11]pleasure of God you did it for your own honor for your

[17:13]own sake for your own integrity and a pass became upset he's

[17:19]the prophets uncle and he's the uncle of you man Ali alehissalaam

[17:21]so he goes up to the Prophet and he says ya rasulallah

[17:30]look at Ali he is speaking in a way which is disrespectful

[17:33]to me why what did he say to you now the Prophet

[17:36]knows but he just wanted to confirm so that other people become

[17:40]aware he told him well this is what happened so the prophet

[17:49]sallallahu alayhi wa wait it and jibra eel alayhis-salam the angel came

[17:54]down with this verse in Swat october so the answer came from

[20:17]he's got a lot of successful ones Allah says Allah gives them

[20:24]the glad tidings you Bashir Ohama born with his mercy and his

[20:29]pleasure Allah is pleased with them Allah is pleased with Imam Ali

[20:34]ibn ABI Talib alehissalaam and they will have gardens in which they

[20:38]will be living in it for eternity Allah subhana WA Ta'ala and

[20:48]this verse says of these few verses that Imam Ali of Nebbia

[20:51]pallav alehissalaam is full of Eman full of faith and he has

[20:58]this faith purely for the sake of Allah and the pleasure of

[21:04]Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala last night I was asked by some youth

[21:08]that what is really our purpose in life what what are we

[21:16]supposed to do in this world I told them I said to

[21:23]them our purpose in life is to please God to please Allah

[21:26]that's our purpose in life and they gave the following example and

[21:31]I want you people to please pay attention to this I said

[21:37]to people when your parents take care of you your parents raised

[21:42]you your parents invest all this time for you what do you

[21:52]expect a good kind child to do to his parents when he

[21:54]or she grows up what do you think he should do or

[22:02]she should do take care of them what else I'm sorry don't

[22:09]shun them away correct please them sure try to maybe attain their

[22:20]happiness would that be fine now the question is why why would

[22:23]you want to take care so much of your parents make sure

[22:28]they're pleased don't shun them away please them etc it's why what

[22:32]have they done to you sorry everything Oh they've done everything they

[22:38]were the reason God made them the reason who brought you into

[22:42]this world they're the reason that took care of you when you

[22:51]were helpless when you're hopeless correct they raised you they fed you

[22:55]they sheltered you they provided you with everything is that right now

[23:04]that is why sometimes when you feel like this towards your parents

[23:07]who raised you who helped you then how about Allah the one

[23:15]who created you doesn't he deserve that you please him and there's

[23:19]a difference as well your parents maybe one day when they grow

[23:24]older they might need you your parents might need you when they

[23:31]grow older but does God even need you he doesn't even need

[23:34]you oh no Allahu Ahad Allah whole sonnet say he is the

[23:39]one God he's the needless he does not need anybody so God

[23:44]gives you because he loves you and he does not expect anything

[23:48]back from you because he does not need anything from you what

[23:55]he wants of you is your own happiness your own joy again

[23:59]sometimes parents come to their child the parents might have a very

[24:03]successful career both of them you know they could be physicians engineers

[24:07]businesspeople and so on so forth but they'll come to you my

[24:14]child please take care of your school study hard get a good

[24:18]degree do well in life it's not for them they're already established

[24:23]they already have successful careers whether you study hard or you don't

[24:28]they don't really care in the sense that it's not going to

[24:32]impact their lives they already have successful careers but why are they

[24:36]so concerned what do you think it's for your own sake you

[24:42]will benefit you will gain so they are going to come to

[24:49]you and save my son my daughter study hard because this is

[24:51]good for your life my life at hamdulillah is successful it's not

[24:57]going to impact me I'm a successful physician businessperson engineer che whatever

[25:03]it is so it does not going to impact me but it's

[25:05]really going to impact you well just as an analogy Allah subhana

[25:14]WA Ta'ala when he tells us people pray fast wear your hijab

[25:17]do not listen to her on the music do not watch things

[25:22]which are Haram be kind to your parents be kind to people

[25:24]be respectful be a virtuous person it's for your own good Allah

[25:30]doesn't need it he doesn't need it but he cares about you

[25:36]so when we show so much appreciation to our parents which is

[25:41]what any good child would do towards them his or her parents

[25:49]taking care of them we need to show not any less appreciation

[25:52]to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala for creating us for bringing us into

[25:57]existence that's important my dear brothers and my dear sisters so our

[26:05]goal in life is to please allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala and you know

[26:11]a great satisfaction will have is inshallah when we all go to

[26:16]Jenna we will be happy that we entered into Jannah but you

[26:20]know something even better something that will make us even happier you

[26:25]think that people say ok Jannah is going to be my goal

[26:27]my goal is to go to Jannah that's not your goal that's

[26:31]your means your means for what is there anything else besides Jenna

[26:37]yes there is Jenna as the means where you achieve the pleasure

[26:41]of Allah rev Allah it's true Jannah when you go there that's

[26:45]a place where Allah will send his pleasure and blessings upon you

[26:48]and that's why Allah says what of one on min allahi akbar

[26:54]the river of allah is even greater than Jenna his pleasure and

[27:00]Allah subhana WA Ta'ala says in these verses you Bashir humba humba

[27:08]hematin men who what have one Allah is giving these believers and

[27:11]who did we say the believers were who are we talking about

[27:13]here huh Imam Ali Ali Saleh Allah is giving them the glad

[27:21]tidings of his mercy and his pleasure Imam Ali attained a loss

[27:29]pleasure that is something important that's one of the reasons why we

[27:33]need to follow Imam Ali o venerable father my dear brothers and

[27:35]sisters because he represents a personality who achieved absolute success the pinnacle

[27:45]of success in this world and that is the pleasure of Allah

[27:47]and Allah says he achieved it with one own he saved everyone

[27:53]achieve the pleasure of Allah so I would like to follow an

[27:56]example of a role model who has achieved the pinnacle of success

[28:01]in this materialistic world in this life and the spiritual world some

[28:11]people say that we grow up in an environment which is not

[28:17]Islamic we grow up in an environment that does not support our

[28:23]religion well my response to them is Imam Ali o be a

[28:29]pile of alehissalaam also grew up in an environment that was not

[28:31]religious he grew up in an environment that did not support his

[28:34]religion in fact he grew up in an environment that was completely

[28:42]corrupt people used to drink they had no values no respect it

[28:47]was just a matter of money money talks tribes the bigger tribe

[28:51]is the better tribe women had no value they had no say

[28:58]they were in fact sold and bought like goods that's the kind

[29:02]of society he grew up in yet look at his salat look

[29:07]at his fast look at the way he dressed look at the

[29:09]way he spoke look at the way he addressed his parents that

[29:16]is an example for us why do we need to learn about

[29:19]Imam Ali Abu Nabil olive alayhis-salam in this 21st century well one

[29:27]of the reasons is because he is a man who achieved ultimate

[29:30]success in this world he achieved the purpose of the creation and

[29:39]that is the pleasure of Allah that's why I want to follow

[29:45]him in doing so I'm gonna have a better life a more

[29:48]comfortable life just like he had a comfortable life comfortable does not

[29:53]mean trouble-free does not mean problem free he experienced a lot of

[30:02]problems since he was a child he was attacked he was hurt

[30:04]a few years later after the death of a soul Allah Allah

[30:11]Allah Allah his own wife was attacked she was killed his own

[30:14]baby was killed so he lived a very difficult life however he

[30:22]was always at peace he was always at peace and that is

[30:26]something which is priceless in this day and age we have a

[30:31]lot of people who are struggling with finding inner peace struggling with

[30:38]finding that calmness they live a stressful life and in some cases

[30:43]it goes to extreme measures where they may need some medical attention

[30:47]mental health problems where they require some attention and that's a serious

[30:52]issue which is concerning the Western world today just recently there was

[31:00]an article about one of the major cities in Canada called Toronto

[31:04]Toronto they say University students in Toronto they are experiencing high episodes

[31:12]of mental health problems to the point where some universities are having

[31:16]to invest millions of dollars on recruiting psychologists recruiting people who can

[31:21]deal with this issue became an epidemic I'm a Leo can I

[31:30]be a polyp Salama Holly despite all these problems yet still was

[31:33]at peace how did he achieve it well because he had connection

[31:40]with Allah I'm not saying that every mental health problem can be

[31:44]solved with your connection to Allah like I said in some cases

[31:46]you may need to acquire some counseling some therapy of some sort

[31:51]however when a person sometimes experiences pain experiences problems and you turn

[32:01]to Allah tonight as lailatul qatar the first night of paddle those

[34:24]not deviate from it from the day he was born when he

[34:29]was born in the Kaaba inside the Kaaba until 63 years later

[34:40]on such a night when he was struck in masjid el Kufa

[34:46]while he was in the state of salute he was born inside

[34:51]the Kaaba and died at the hob a great personality a personality

[34:56]that's full of the love of Allah and full of the love

[35:04]of his servants one day Imam Ali o venerable pile of alehissalaam

[35:09]when he became the Khalifa when Imam Ali Ali assalaam became the

[35:15]Khalifa his Khalifa his leadership role lasted for four years and eight

[35:19]months so just under five years during these four years and eight

[35:28]months he had to fight three major Wars the first war was

[35:33]led against him by some of the prophet's companions and one of

[35:39]the prophets wife a lady a minion aisha she led a war

[35:47]against imam ali over no idea pilot alayhis-salam along with some of

[35:52]the main prophet's companions people were like pal ha and zubayr they

[35:56]came to fight against imam ali imam ali ali salaam won that

[36:04]battle and he did not punish all those people who came to

[36:08]fight against him he let them all go free then shortly later

[51:08]with the Armel of the knights of qatar dharma will be in

[51:11]the main hall but of course if there is not much room

[51:15]then the overspill will be over here insha'Allah but for the sake
