[1:05]sadaqa allahu al azim or sallou ala muhammad wa ala muhammad chapter
[1:18]number 33 surat al-ahzab describes a significant event and in a nutshell
[1:28]it could be said that in the year 5 after hijra corresponding
[1:35]with the year 627 in the Common Era the Muslim community in
[1:40]Medina was surrounded by a coalition thus the word ahzab and the
[1:45]battle that was fought was known as maraca 2 ahzaab the Battle
[1:51]of the Coalition but it was also known as maracas will hand
[1:53]up the Battle of the trench because in preparation it was the
[1:59]suggestion of one of the Companions of Rasulullah Salman and Mohammed II
[2:07]to build a trench in order to defend the community and during
[2:12]that time building a trench for defense purposes was not a familiar
[2:17]tactic amongst the Arabs but it was amongst the Persian so it
[2:25]was it was his suggestion and the coalition the ax AB were
[2:29]comprised of number one the Quraysh from mecca number two there were
[2:33]a number of pagan tribes from different parts of the Arabian Peninsula
[2:39]and number three some of the Jewish tribes which lived in the
[2:44]outskirts of the city of Medina and of course on the Muslim
[2:47]side you had the Muslim community of Medina and their loyal allies
[2:54]and the idea was that when the Prophet arrived to Medina there
[2:58]should not be any treachery that everyone in the community would support
[3:02]one another that if there was a common enemy all would contribute
[3:05]to defend from the attacks of the common enemy so this was
[3:14]a this was a pact it was a vow that took place
[3:19]so long story short some people chose to broke the to break
[3:23]the vow amongst them were the hypocrites and the hypocrites are mentioned
[3:28]in Nepal on in fact there's an entire chapter in the Quran
[3:32]so littell munafa own which is the chapter that comes immediately after
[3:36]solitude Omaha which describes the states of some of the hypocrites and
[3:41]the Quran says to them the following in dissin describing them voila
[3:46]wallah pad can waha de la hum in a blue layer luenell
[3:51]at bar that they had given a commitment they had given a
[3:59]vow that they should not turn away and Allah says wakana Allah
[4:03]he Missoula that the commitments and the vows you you make towards
[4:08]Allah subhana WA Ta'ala you will be accounted for and you will
[4:13]be asked about one day every single vow that you make every
[4:16]commitment that you make every undertaking that you do that you commit
[4:21]yourself to so one of the repetitive elements in this chapter is
[4:26]the idea of commitment for instance in verse number seven Allah subhana
[4:35]WA Ta'ala says walaqad na minha nabina mr.
[4:36]Kirkham women care women no Hanwha ibrahim a' wha Moosa ye sublimer
[4:47]Yamahas Naaman home nathanville Eva that we took Amy that we took
[4:51]a a covenant from the prophets and from specifically the five major
[4:56]prophets which was the prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and the
[5:00]prophet nor the Prophet Ibrahim the Prophet Musa and the Prophet ISA
[5:07]ISA lon those were the five that we took from them meetha
[5:09]panel Eva we took from them a serious covenant and according to
[5:16]the exodus of the Quran they said that they say that the
[5:19]Covenant was number one to worship Allah subhana WA Ta'ala and not
[5:22]ascribe any partners to him number two to teach others to worship
[5:30]Allah and not ascribe any partners and number three to confirm the
[5:34]messages of the other prophets and the other messengers so the repetitive
[5:40]the repetitive theme in this chapter is the idea of commitment and
[5:47]following through with your word that when you give your word to
[5:50]someone you don't break that and why this is important is because
[5:55]in today's day and age one of the areas that people truly
[5:59]suffer is number one creating a commitment initiating a commitment and number
[6:06]two is following through with commitments and you see this affects people
[6:11]in every area of their life when it comes to relationships the
[6:16]idea of commitment for many people is shaky what does it mean
[6:21]when I enter into a marriage relationship with someone I was listening
[6:26]one time it was very interesting a lawyer was talking about this
[6:31]a secular divorce lawyer was saying this that marriage is the most
[6:37]important contract the most important legal contract that you will ever establish
[6:43]in your life but most people they take it the least seriously
[6:45]out of any of the contracts they do more due diligence when
[6:49]it comes to getting a job when it comes to buying a
[6:52]home when it comes to leasing a vehicle then they do when
[7:00]it comes to getting married so it begins to rear its ugly
[7:03]head in different areas so when it comes to relationships when it
[7:05]comes to finances sometimes we make a financial commitment that this year
[7:13]I'm going to spend I'm going to save 10 percent of every
[7:16]paycheck that I receive and then two months later what happens someone
[7:20]that you're following by something cool and you want that very same
[7:24]thing so you break your commitment to yourself or when it comes
[7:32]to health commitments this is why you know a fitness centers and
[7:36]gyms how they make the most amount of their money is off
[7:39]the people that don't show up not the people that show up
[7:41]and use the facilities it's the expensive memberships that they sell to
[7:46]people a year in advance two years and in five years in
[7:50]advance or the training sessions knowing that most people aren't going to
[7:53]show up why because my my back is too sore for the
[7:57]second or third session so commitments creating commitments and following through with
[8:04]commitments it is one of the challenges of modern-day society so I
[8:08]want to talk about this from three different areas and the first
[8:11]area is what does it mean to commit to something and how
[8:18]do you create a commitment so what a commitment is is it's
[8:23]it's when you stay true to your values it's when you say
[8:30]something when you proclaim something when you write something and you stay
[8:34]true and you follow through with that and it's a very very
[8:37]simple thing but you know common senses is not common practice so
[8:46]let's go back in time when commitments were established verbally now these
[8:51]days when you create a commitment a contract you know you write
[8:54]something down maybe you write it down on a piece of paper
[8:57]or you you you type it up and you print it before
[9:01]the days of writing and before the days of printing what you
[9:07]said was very very important your word was your bond your word
[9:11]was your worth if you said something you had to mean it
[9:16]if you said something you had to follow through so much so
[9:20]that when you study Islamic contracts before there was a time of
[9:25]receipts the way that a contract for instance the way that a
[9:31]transaction would be fulfilled if someone was buying and someone was selling
[9:36]the person that was buying would say hd2 and the person that
[9:40]was selling would say Beto literally I sell the seller would say
[9:47]I sell you this and the buyer would say I am buying
[9:50]this it was a verbal contract that evolved in Mackay tit from
[9:57]from an Islamic point of view that evolved into something like a
[10:01]handshake or a clap I'll give you an example now because it
[10:04]became labor some for people to say better I mean imagine every
[10:09]single time you purchase an item you have to tell the vendor
[10:14]ashtray to and they have to say back to how labor some
[10:15]that would be it's only two words but I mean it's pretty
[10:20]labor some that was replaced with the act of a clap and
[10:22]this is why today in the Arabic language one way to describe
[10:28]a financial transaction is with the word sucka and the literal meaning
[10:32]of the word soft kind Arabic is a clap I'll give me
[10:35]an example this is a little bit of a side note but
[10:39]there's a benefit to it one day rasulullah sallallahu alehiwassallaam turned to
[10:43]his companions one companion in particular by the name of Orval Bharathi
[10:47]he gave him a gold dinar he told him to go to
[10:51]the marketplace and to purchase a sheep and come back with it
[10:54]so he went to the marketplace he purchased two sheep he found
[10:57]two for the price of one then he took one of them
[11:01]and he sold it for a dinar he came back to the
[11:06]Prophet with the dinar and with the sheep so the Prophet said
[11:07]he turned to him and he said barakallahu face off but iam
[11:13]Enoch he said may God bless if you translate it literally the
[11:15]clap of your right hand because the clap refers to the transaction
[11:19]so instead of saying back to ensure a - they would clap
[11:24]meaning that I have purchased this from you and you have given
[11:26]this to me and we're both happy ya mean refers to the
[11:31]right hand so the hand that you get things done with you
[11:33]know you right I mean I I know that there are people
[11:37]out there who are left-handed and they they actually say that geniuses
[11:39]are left-handed but for all of us normal people we conduct our
[11:42]affairs with our right hand the way that you eat when you
[11:46]shake hands you don't extend your left hand you extend your right
[11:49]hand so you get things done with your right hand so first
[11:54]it was back to a study - and then it turned into
[11:58]a physical gesture which was a clap and now it's something completely
[12:03]different it's it's writing through a receipt and sometimes you don't even
[12:07]receive the receipt these days they offer to email you the receipt
[12:11]to make things much easier but before back then your word was
[12:15]your bond what you said you had to follow through with and
[12:20]these days the problem is because we've become so far distant from
[12:26]that concept that people really don't watch their words there's a book
[12:29]written by an author Don Miguel Ruiz The Four Agreements maybe some
[12:33]of you are familiar with this book and he talks about four
[12:36]principles to live by in order to achieve personal freedom one of
[12:40]those agreements one of those principles he says be impeccable with your
[12:46]word be impeccable with your word meaning that choose your words very
[12:52]carefully some people these days it's just whatever comes out of their
[12:56]mouth and most of the times we are repeating the garbage that
[13:00]comes in you know there's a concept I think in I'm not
[13:04]very familiar with computer science but I've heard computer scientists say it's
[13:07]garbage in garbage out so if you put garbage into the system
[13:10]what's gonna come out garbage is gonna come out well the brain
[13:14]is also a computer it's also a system garbage in garbage out
[13:17]if it comes through here it's gonna come out of here so
[13:22]be impeccable with your word choose your words very carefully and the
[13:26]Quran tells us it says what will a body Apolo letty here
[13:31]hacen say to my servants to instruct them to say and to
[13:36]speak only that which is best if it's not the best thing
[13:40]that you can say then don't say it be silent choose to
[13:46]be silent instead so that's one area the area of commitment through
[13:51]your word so when you give your word and that's exactly what
[13:56]the Quran is talking about with the hypocrites that they gave their
[13:59]word that they weren't going to surrender they weren't going to turn
[14:03]away they weren't going to run but when when it came time
[14:07]to walk the walk they ran away the quran says wa laqad
[14:11]can wah ha de la hum in pub lay away luenell at
[14:16]bow vikarna Abdullah he Missoula and then the next verse palainian falcomon
[14:20]ferraro it says that whatever you do whether you choose to run
[14:29]away or whether you choose to stay death is certain so if
[14:34]you're going to escape it now there's gonna be a day that
[14:36]it's gonna come to you meaning that everything that you commit to
[14:39]what kind of I'm do Lonnie Missoula everything that you commit to
[14:44]in this world in the next world it's gonna come back to
[14:47]at the end of your life it's gonna come back to you
[14:54]so remember the commitments number two is the idea of procrastination and
[15:00]indecision a lot of the times we tend to procrastinate we tend
[15:05]to delay so when the Quran describes the hypocrites what it what
[15:09]it is saying is that through procrastination and through trying to get
[15:14]away from their current responsibilities the only thing that they're doing is
[15:19]that they're delaying the consequence they're not eliminating the consequence and a
[15:25]lot of the times we fall prey to procrastination and indecision now
[15:31]when it comes to procrastination there are four reasons that I want
[15:36]to share with you number one is we tend to believe that
[15:39]procrastination when you see someone procrastinate we tend to think it's because
[15:44]of laziness so if you see your kids they're procrastinating they're not
[15:48]keeping up with their homework assignments we tend to think that it
[15:55]is because of laziness or it's because of the fact that they're
[15:58]not organized but there are decades and decades of research that are
[16:04]dedicated to figuring out why people procrastinate why is it that people
[16:09]procrastinate and what some of this research has revealed is that it
[16:12]has nothing to do with organization and it has has nothing to
[16:19]do with laziness it's really tied to a fear among the things
[16:23]that it's side to is a fear that you're not going to
[16:29]produce something worthy that if I do it right now I have
[16:31]a week to perform this project if I get it done right
[16:35]now it's not gonna be up the quality that I want it
[16:38]to be it's not gonna be how I envisioned it it's not
[16:41]going to be perfect but the reality if you think about it
[16:47]nothing that you want tends to happen in the way that you
[16:51]wanted nothing ends up being perfect because you are not perfect everything
[17:00]that you produce as a human being tends to have some sort
[17:05]of flaw in it I'll give you an example for those of
[17:08]you who are married or if you've been married for a while
[17:13]go back to the time when some of you can't remember this
[17:17]far back but try to remember a time when you are not
[17:19]married or maybe you were engaged and you were anticipating marriage and
[17:25]living with your life partner there was a way that you you
[17:29]know fantasized about the relationship that you were going to marry the
[17:36]perfect person and everything was gonna be perfect and you were gonna
[17:39]be so nice to one another you were gonna be so polite
[17:41]to one another that she was gonna take care of the home
[17:45]it was gonna be and span clean you were gonna go out
[17:49]and hustle and make money and you're gonna have beautiful children and
[17:53]you know what color eyes your children have and you've already picked
[17:56]out the names from 10 years before and then what happens well
[18:00]marriage happens it's enough to say that but you make it work
[18:07]regardless you make it work it's not perfect but it's never meant
[18:11]to be perfect so procrastination and indecision what psychologists have found is
[18:18]due to the fact that we expect everything that we do to
[18:21]be perfect when in reality nothing that you do is going to
[18:26]be perfect ever because you're not a perfect person and perfection is
[18:29]not required perfection should never be the goal rather instead of perfection
[18:35]we should strive for excellence and excellence is doing the best that
[18:39]you can in any situation with the resources that you have there's
[18:45]a difference between excellence and perfect number two the second reason behind
[18:50]procrastination and indecision is the fact that most human beings tend to
[18:55]be easily affected by the opinions of others everybody has an opinion
[19:01]about everything and so when when we go about our lives in
[19:07]making a decision whether it's a decision that has to do with
[19:10]our relationships or with our health or with our finances normally if
[19:14]you think about it who is your circle of advisers who's your
[19:20]advisory board it tends to be the person the people or the
[19:23]person or the people that are emotionally invested in you they have
[19:30]an emotionally invested interest such as your parents your siblings or it
[19:37]tends to be the people that you happen to spend time with
[19:40]on a daily basis your co-worker the person that's in the next
[19:43]cubicle so how does how does that decision-making process how does it
[19:50]start well you think of for instance going on a diet and
[19:57]there's there's there's so many different variations out there today and there's
[20:01]so much information out there and some of it is conflicting and
[20:05]what's interesting is that some of them are conflicting but they work
[20:08]so when it comes to a diet and how much you should
[20:12]eat and the times that you should eat there are some if
[20:14]you're aware that have the opinion that you should eat once every
[20:18]two hours and they wake up in the middle of the night
[20:20]to eat because they want to eat once exactly every two hours
[20:25]and then there's people of the opinion that say no you need
[20:28]to do intermittent fasting and you have to eat one time a
[20:32]day and you need to fast for the rest of the day
[20:35]there are two completely contradictory opinions so depending on who you're gonna
[20:39]ask you're gonna get a multitude of opinions now this doesn't mean
[20:46]that don't consult anyone before you make a decision you need to
[20:50]understand how to consult the proper people I'll give you an example
[20:54]of that and it's interesting because some of the most successful people
[20:58]are people who make decisions quickly but then are slow to change
[21:03]them I'll give you an example a contemporary example some of you
[21:06]are probably I mean you're of course you're familiar with the character
[21:10]of Henry Ford the founder of the Ford Motor Company now if
[21:14]you read his biography and you read his history they'll tell you
[21:16]that he was one of the most stubborn obstinate human beings and
[21:19]if he had an idea for you know the model of a
[21:25]vehicle or the model of a car or say the engine how
[21:28]the engine should be or how the braking mechanism he was going
[21:31]to implement it even if he had everybody follow everybody standing against
[21:35]him even his own children if they would stand against him he
[21:40]would be obstinate and he would follow through because he was a
[21:44]man of vision there's a quote that's attributed to him they said
[21:48]that if Henry Ford was so interested in the opinions of others
[21:52]if he would have asked people what they wanted they would have
[21:55]told him we want faster horses but he didn't listen to them
[22:00]he created a vehicle and when he created the vehicle the car
[22:03]with the combustion engine he revolutionized transportation and even though it wasn't
[22:09]nice at first because you had smog and you had all that
[22:11]stuff and it was scaring the horses but who won the battle
[22:16]up the end of the day the obstinate man now I'm not
[22:19]saying be stubborn and obstinate and don't listen to people and don't
[22:26]consult but you know and and some people they they say that
[22:29]that that quote is not attributed to Henry Ford at all but
[22:32]even if it's not it sounds pretty good doesn't it so it
[22:35]teaches us that that you need to be able to make decisions
[22:38]and you need to be able to commit to your decisions if
[22:45]you've made a decision for a certain diet for instance and I
[22:48]always talk about you know diets and health because it's it's the
[22:53]most relatable issue when it comes to you know commitment and following
[22:57]through and laziness and whatnot it's the most relatable because everybody experiences
[23:01]it almost all the time if you make a decision just follow
[23:08]through follow through with that so so knowing how to take the
[23:12]opinions of people who are actually experts in the field that you
[23:15]are trying to grow and this is one of the biggest challenge
[23:18]even for young Muslims because the idea is that I need to
[23:21]honor my parents and I need to honor my family and I
[23:25]agree with that you do but sometimes when you take advice from
[23:28]someone who have fruit on the tree in the area that you're
[23:31]trying to grow you're not only not honoring them you are dishonouring
[23:34]them because you are putting upon them the burden of giving you
[23:39]an advice in an area that they are not knowledgeable and that's
[23:42]a very uncomfortable spot to be in when someone asks you it's
[23:47]very uncomfortable if you've noticed for someone to say I don't know
[23:51]the answer to this but sometimes saying I don't know is the
[23:53]right answer in fact there are a number of Hadiya that tell
[23:56]us that if you don't know the answer to something be okay
[23:59]with saying I don't know and people who ask me questions and
[24:02]I don't know the answer I tell them I don't know I
[24:05]can get the information for you but I don't know it this
[24:10]current time maybe I've forgotten so this is number two knowing how
[24:14]to how to stand strong in your own opinion what tends to
[24:20]happen with people when they don't know how to stand strong is
[24:22]in their opinion is that they're affected by everything that everyone says
[24:26]Imam Ali Ali sallam he categorizes people into three categories he says
[24:31]people are either the first category animal Rabbani which is an enlightened
[24:38]knowledgeable individual a person of conviction a person who is an expert
[24:43]in an area the second is mucha a lemon Allah Sibylla Nijat
[24:49]so someone who is going through the process of enlightenment a student
[24:55]a knowledge seeker and the third is everybody else who are they
[25:03]Hema jamaat in very nice language savages and he describes him he
[25:07]says these are the type of people that they fall they when
[25:09]the wind moves right they move right when the wind moves left
[25:14]they move left because they never stand for anything so knowing how
[25:17]to stand for something knowing how to stand on the proper principles
[25:21]number three and what contributes to our indecision and our procrastination is
[25:28]the world that we live in that we have an abundance of
[25:32]options think about it when you walk into the grocery store or
[25:38]when you walk into the sandwich shop or the ice cream shop
[25:43]you have an abundance of options and so sometimes you walk into
[25:46]somewhere and there's so many options that you end up scratching your
[25:49]head and you leave you you don't know what you want there's
[25:55]a psychology behind that if there are any movie fans here if
[25:58]you've seen the matrix what happens when neo meets the architect of
[26:02]the matrix the architect tells him he says we've designed this matrix
[26:09]and the matrix is this digital world or I mean it's you
[26:12]can't really describe it through anything but the matrix but it's it's
[26:16]this simulated world that human beings get stuck in in the future
[26:23]and the architect says that through the illusion of choice we've given
[26:27]you so many choices through the illusion of choice is the way
[26:30]that we're able to subdue human beings that's how we're able to
[26:34]keep their minds stuck in the matrix and the whole thesis of
[26:39]the matrix is you're freeing your mind and it created a cult
[26:42]sensation if you if you watch the movies some of the most
[26:44]successful companies when you walk in I don't know if you have
[26:50]here in Ohio do you have Pinkberry so if you travel to
[26:52]other parts of the country it's a chain of frozen yogurt and
[26:56]you walk in and they have three or four options that's it
[26:59]they don't have any more than that so when you walk in
[27:04]you know exactly what you want so I'll give you an example
[27:06]when it comes to relationships and why people don't find relationship satisfaction
[27:10]there was a book that I was reading recently and it was
[27:13]it was actually written by a Muslim a Muslim comedian and it
[27:19]was about romance and relationships in our modern world and there was
[27:23]a lot of hard evidence in it which was very interesting and
[27:28]he said the following he said that in 1932 87 years ago
[27:35]1932 a sociologist from the University of Pennsylvania conducted a study where
[27:44]he looked at 5000 marriage licenses that were done recently in the
[27:50]city of Philadelphia and what he found was that a third of
[27:54]the people that got married before they got married they lived within
[27:58]five blocks of one another five blocks not five miles five blocks
[28:02]about 1500 people surveyed out of 5,000 people this is in the
[28:07]year 1932 now you may be thinking okay well Philadelphia is a
[28:10]big city there are big tall buildings obviously people are gonna live
[28:13]next to one another he continued his research he went to smaller
[28:16]towns where there were 3,000 and 4,000 5,000 people and he found
[28:22]similar trends today we live in a world where there is unlimited
[28:26]options there was a young man who a number of years ago
[28:30]of a very good young man who was searching for a wife
[28:34]and it took him about 3 4 years to find the partner
[28:40]that he was looking for very good young man with with you
[28:43]know good intentions but every time I spoke to this young man
[28:48]he was speaking to someone on the other side of the world
[28:51]and Los Angeles has the greater LA County has 18 point 4
[28:58]million people but he would speak to people from Malaysia and Australia
[29:02]and you know different states as if there was a scarcity and
[29:07]and and no one to talk to within your own community and
[29:12]eventually hamdullah he got married but the idea is that there is
[29:15]a lot of there's so much choice sometimes in our life that
[29:21]it it paralyzes us from making decision so this is the third
[29:26]the fourth is that we also have instant gratification we live in
[29:30]a world of on-demand everything is on demand Amazon not only delivers
[29:36]the next day or two day shipping their same-day shipping for those
[29:40]of you who don't know you can order something and have it
[29:44]at your doorstep within three hours or four hours so because we
[29:47]live in a world of on-demand everything that you want happens right
[29:50]away people begin to treat their options when it comes to relationships
[29:58]and Health and Finance as undemanding cancel it and I can walk
[30:01]to the next plan if I don't like this relationship I can
[30:03]cancel it and I can walk to the next relationship psychologically this
[30:08]tends to affect us so this is the second area and the
[30:14]third and all and shortly is when it comes to real life
[30:16]commitment challenges how do you help people navigate through real life commitment
[30:20]challenges so now we have these issues I mean you can't go
[30:23]and live off of the grid in the Amazon well definitely right
[30:29]now you can't live in the Amazon but you can go live
[30:34]off the grid and expect not to be affected psychologically by anything
[30:37]that lives it that that that exists in this world I'll give
[30:40]you an example when it comes to commitment through relationships because you
[30:44]know health and finance it's it's important but the most important thing
[30:48]in our life the most important area and aspect that needs resolution
[30:53]or relationships because relationships affects everything else I'll give you an example
[30:59]there was a book that was written by a Christian pastor and
[31:03]he spoke about what happens when people come to him with marital
[31:08]conflict and he says that sometimes I have people come to me
[31:12]with marital conflict and they'll say that I would rather and of
[31:18]course he was he was speaking against divorce Salaam Hamid William Hammond
[31:33]someone else has decided to take over but he was speaking about
[31:38]relationship issues and he says that sometimes people come to me and
[31:40]they say that you know what instead of continuously fighting with my
[31:46]husband or fighting with my wife I'm going to choose to divorce
[31:48]and he says I'm gonna challenge that idea he says when parents
[31:55]quarrel with one another and this may rattle your cage the wrong
[32:00]way but please just listen to it he says that when parents
[32:05]quarrel with one another when they disagree with one another and then
[32:08]that's followed by a period of cooling down and then reconciliation that
[32:13]teaches your children a valuable valuable lesson it teaches your children that
[32:20]listen in life not everything is gonna go the way that you
[32:24]want it to go but when things don't go the way that
[32:26]you want it to go you don't just pick up your marbles
[32:29]and leave you learn to confront your challenges through communication now sometimes
[32:35]there are very very serious issues such as physical abuse psychological abuse
[32:41]serious infidelity problems I'm not talking about that but I'm talking about
[32:46]the regular quarrelsome is and and then people begin to come up
[32:51]with you know once they quarrel they start to come up with
[32:54]the excuse that we just we're not in love with one another
[32:59]anymore three weeks ago you were in love now you're not in
[33:02]love anymore because of a quarrel he says even if there are
[33:09]children it's more detrimental to divorce even if you're arguing with one
[33:16]another but you come together in reconciliation you teach your children a
[33:21]very valuable lesson on commitment because it's from those days that they
[33:26]begin to recognize what it means to commit when the father loves
[33:29]the mother unconditionally when the mother loves the father unconditionally when certain
[33:37]arguments are not going to split them apart they begin to learn
[33:41]about commitment and there are a number of points that inshallah I
[33:45]will mention in the following days now I want to turn your
[33:49]hearts to the story of Imam Hussain Hari Salaam and since we're
[33:55]on the topic of commitment and decision the man that we honor
[34:01]tonight his remembrance is at Horeb Niazi dorayaki a man who made
[34:07]the right decision a man who when he made his commitment no
[34:11]matter what faced him he didn't turn around a man who was
[34:17]a man of status he was a man of influence he was
[34:20]a man that could have had whatever he wanted from this dunya
[34:23]but he chose the Agora over the temporary dunya and the narration
[34:28]says that during one of the stops that Imam Hussain took because
[34:34]I mentioned that from Mecca to Karbala they were about 14 stops
[34:38]in one of those stops in a place called new hospital imam
[34:44]hussain ali salaam and his caravan exceeding just over a hundred people
[34:54]met with a group led by Al Arab needed area he led
[34:57]by and heard Nia's either we are leading 1000 people and of
[35:05]course because geographically they had strayed away look at the heart of
[35:09]Imam Hussain Hadi Saddam because they had strayed away from the path
[35:14]because they had strayed away from the water by the time they
[35:17]reached imam hussain ali salam they were thirsty all of them were
[35:23]thirsty some narrations tell us that imam hussain not only gave water
[35:28]to them knowing that they were the enemy knowing their intentions at
[35:31]the time not only did he give water to them he even
[35:40]gave water to their horses the animals and narration says that L
[35:45]saw the Imam he came in contact with him and L thought
[35:49]it was from a very noble family they were a family that
[35:55]were known for their nobility their lineage so he was a man
[35:59]of principle he was a man of honor he was not just
[36:02]any person that was Joe Schmoe off of the street he was
[36:06]a man of principle and honour and he knew who imam hussain
[36:10]ali sallam was and he wanted to honor that relationship and so
[36:14]he said to him he said ya Banaras o allah and narrations
[36:18]tell us that the imam led the lower prayer the noon prayer
[36:21]and the soldiers of allah stood behind the imam and the imam
[36:28]spoken delivered a sermon after the prayer and he told them that
[36:31]you are here to stop us from our path but some of
[36:35]you were the same people that wrote me letters inviting me to
[36:39]come to Kufa why are you here now stopping in my path
[36:43]at the end of the day they reached the decision that they
[36:46]would not allow imam hussain ali salam to go back because one
[36:50]of his request was at least let me go back the other
[36:54]way that I came from they said we have decisions that we
[36:57]cannot let you go back I have decisions that III have I
[37:04]have orders that I need to bring you in to Kufa arrested
[37:08]but a man from st.
[37:13]Ali Salim resisted so at that point at her said to him
[37:16]he said he said but I can Nassif and Benny WA Boehner
[37:20]he said then take another path don't go back and don't come
[37:23]to Kufa because if you come to Kufa i have to arrest
[37:27]you and that's where imam hussain ali salaam turned to his companions
[37:30]and they took the path which eventually led them to Karbala yesterday
[37:34]the second of the second of Muharram was the day that they
[37:40]arrived in Karbala and on the day of ashura the same man
[37:42]al Farabi Niazi Darya he he found himself in a position where
[37:48]he had to make the most vital decision in his life because
[37:50]he began to see the children of the family of imam hussain
[37:54]ali salam crying out a la pêche a la Tasha we are
[38:01]thirsty we are thirsty that begin to that began to shake him
[38:07]at his deepest level of his conscious and so he began to
[38:11]tremble one of his companions one of the soldiers Al Muhajiroun meows
[38:16]he turned to him he says what's wrong with you O Hara
[38:19]he says you're trembling like someone who is extremely frightened if someone
[38:25]was to ask me who is the bravest man in Kufa I
[38:30]would not hesitate to see you to say you but now you
[38:34]are trembling like the most frightened person I've ever seen and it
[38:38]was not fear that had him tremble he responds he says in
[38:46]the Allen FC Mahayana tune banal Janet even now what is causing
[38:50]this tremble is that I see myself Neph see and I see
[38:56]heaven on one side and I see hell on the other side
[39:01]and he says by God I will choose nothing over the heaven
[39:03]nothing no matter what you offer me in this world and so
[39:09]at that moment brothers and sisters he made the decision and the
[39:14]commitment to follow through with that decision so he began to he
[39:17]took some water and he began to draw nearer to the camp
[39:21]of imam hussain ali salam and he began to seek forgiveness from
[39:24]allah subhanho wa taala allahumma alayka own EEB oh allah i come
[39:31]back to you in repentance for i have caused fear to be
[39:39]struck in the hearts of your of your olya i have caused
[39:44]fear and terror to be in the hearts of the sons of
[39:47]your prophet an imam hussain ali salam the same man who prevented
[39:57]him from reaching Kufa he finds place in his heart to forgive
[40:03]him and so when it came time to the battle narrations tell
[40:06]us that this is where Al Harb Nia's Eid area he displayed
[40:12]his bravery his true courage that he went out into the battlefield
[40:16]and he began to fight defending the camp of imam hussain ali
[40:20]salam defending the womenfolk of imam hussain ali salam narrations tell us
[40:25]that he struck down himself by himself up to forty warriors and
[40:32]at that time because of the heat because of the thirst because
[40:35]of the weakness the enemy came and surrounded him and they struck
[40:38]him down and when they struck him down he could not defend
[40:45]himself so they surrounded him they began to strike him from all
[40:49]directions finally when he was in those in those final moments of
[40:55]his life the companions of imam hussain they brought his body back
[40:59]to the camp imam hussain ali sallam he tented he tended to
[41:02]him personally he began to remove the dirts from his face from
[41:08]his beard narration says say that he began to say to him
[41:11]back in Mithila kya haal Bravo truly you are a free man
[41:17]as your name says truly you are a free man as your
[41:19]mother named you in this dunya in this life and in the
[41:24]hereafter in allahu la here on your own voice a Aleman ladina
[41:28]Vellamo am uncle a billion kali boon voila our table to limit
[41:37]offense man rahim allah ameen ameen art well most
