[22:30]9th if you want any more information you can find that at
[22:34]asuraproject.org scholarship without further ado i'd like to introduce sheikh madirasani with

[25:27]and his beloved progeny please recite a second loud salah for the
[25:36]hastening in the return of our beloved 12th imam a third final
[25:42]loud salawat [Applause] before i begin with tonight's talk inshaallah i want
[25:48]to take a moment to thank all of the dear brothers and
[25:53]sisters who have worked hard throughout this ashraf the volunteers brothers and
[25:58]sisters who'd come here before any of us came here to commemorate
[26:01]these nights with all of the time and effort and all of
[26:04]the energy that they've put into all of these programs the smooth
[26:09]operations at least as far as i've been seeing alhamdulillah with so
[26:14]many brothers and sisters coming and going and leaving may allah bless
[26:17]all of them all of those who worked hard to make these
[26:21]majalis possible let us take a moment to recite suratul fatiha for
[26:24]all of them for all of them muhammad the topic that we'll
[26:54]be discussing tonight inshallah is the topic of tawas this is a
[26:57]practice that you find many times is associated with certain schools of
[27:01]thought within islam and is not necessarily associated with other schools of
[27:06]thought within islam many might assume that one of the ways you
[27:09]can tell the difference between someone who is shia and someone who
[27:14]is sunni is that the shia person will practice this practice of
[27:18]tawasul he will perform tawasur whereas the sunni person he will not
[27:22]perform the practice of tawasul and to a certain extent that may
[27:25]be correct though not fully and you find that this topic of
[27:30]tawasul is something that is deeply embedded specifically within these majalis that
[27:32]we hold when we come to the end of many of these
[27:36]majalis we raise our hands in dura we say oh allah please
[27:40]grant us our hajjat by the right of this individual by the
[27:43]right of that individual this individual might be a male it might
[27:47]be a man it might be by the right of muhammad hussain
[27:49]for example it might be a woman by the right of allah
[27:53]whatever the case might have been but you find that this is
[27:57]a practice that's embedded within even our majalis this topic of tawasul
[28:00]however is a topic that brings about many questions there are many
[28:04]questions that can be raised with regards to it is it even
[28:06]permissible who can play the role of this wasilla and furthermore and
[28:12]more importantly what is the wisdom behind performing tawasun if allah allowed
[28:17]us to do it why did he allow us to do it
[28:21]if i can ask allah directly why has he encouraged me to
[28:25]ask him by the right of another individual or by the right
[28:28]of another being and you'll find that this topic is one of
[28:33]those topics that you'll receive many many questions about i cannot tell
[28:37]you how many questions i've received about this topic and you'll find
[28:41]that within the college level age group is where this question shows
[28:44]itself and presents itself more than any other time when the children
[28:48]are in elementary they're in middle school they're in high school it's
[28:52]a different discussion altogether by the time they get to college the
[28:56]discussion is very different they enter into a different world you might
[28:59]enter into a college you might be going to a college maybe
[29:01]there aren't that many shia there maybe there's an msa there you
[29:05]want to join this msa very quickly you realize that there are
[29:08]practices that they have that you do not have there are practices
[29:11]you have that they do not have and one of those areas
[29:14]that they will ask you about one of those areas where questions
[29:20]come up is this concept of tawas so they will say listen
[29:22]when we need something from allah we go to what is this
[29:28]thing that you guys do you ask allah subhanahu ta'ala by the
[29:32]right of this person sometimes you put yourself through so much trouble
[29:37]so much effort to leave your hometown to travel to another city
[29:40]well the places you travel to my narrations say this person will
[29:45]tell you only three masajit are there the shrines of these individuals
[29:48]and are part of these three masajid that you should be traveling
[29:51]to to go and ask for your hajjat for example and so
[29:55]they'll raise this question sometimes this question is raised in a respectful
[30:00]way meaning that they're genuinely curious about why is it that you
[30:03]practice your faith in this way sometimes no it's raised in a
[30:05]disrespectful way it's raised in a way where this person is accusing
[30:11]you of simply being a mushrik saying why do you do this
[30:14]you're a mushrik don't talk to me this person might sit with
[30:17]the jews and christians on campus but when it comes to you
[30:20]you might say listen you're not even muslim don't talk to me
[30:24]as if you are a muslim and therefore there are many questions
[30:26]that are raised with regards to the topic of tawasol and the
[30:29]most important of all of them is this we pride ourselves on
[30:35]embracing a faith and having a religion that in which we don't
[30:38]need an intermediary in which we don't need to go to someone
[30:43]else to have our sins forgiven when we want our hajjat we
[30:45]go directly to allah i don't have to go talk to some
[30:49]priest for example to have my sins forgiven this is something we
[30:52]pride ourselves on and somehow some way it seems sometimes that this
[30:57]concept of tawassur doesn't seem to mesh with this idea and if
[31:01]allah subhanahu ta'ala truly has allowed us to come and speak to
[31:06]him directly then why would he even allow us or encourage us
[31:10]sometimes to do tawasul to ask him by the right of someone
[31:15]else one discussion is is it allowed this is one discussion the
[31:18]second discussion which is more important for me personally is why did
[31:23]allah legislate this anyways why not just keep it simple whenever you
[31:26]need something come and talk to me you don't need to go
[31:29]and ask by the right of this person you don't need to
[31:32]go to this shrine you don't need to have a wasilla when
[31:33]you're asking me just come and ask me directly and i will
[31:37]respond to you what is the wisdom what is the philosophy behind
[31:40]this concept of tawasul these 10 nights we were talking about enhancing
[31:44]your relationship with allah and yet someone might ask well if i
[31:50]have a building a relationship with allah what is this idea of
[31:52]tawas what is this idea of wasilla what do i need this
[31:54]person or that person to ask allah just ask him directly therefore
[31:59]this is a question that directly is related to the theme that
[32:02]we have chosen for these ten nights tonight inshallah we'll delve into
[32:06]the topic of the concept and practice of tawasul and we'll do
[32:12]so by posing the following questions number one what are the quranic
[32:16]proofs and quranic verses of the quran that speak about the practice
[32:20]of tawas number two what are the eight different forms of the
[32:24]practice of tawasul and which one of them is the most sensitive
[32:29]to be discussed between the two schools of thought within islam number
[32:34]three do shias and sunnis agree on any aspect of this topic
[32:37]is there any overlap between their understandings or is it the case
[32:42]that they have completely different understandings on the topic of tawasor number
[32:47]four how did tawasul impact the life of the great marjah the
[32:51]marjah who was a teacher to many other marajar who was none
[32:58]impact his life on a personal level and number five and finally
[33:03]and the most important question that we will discuss tonight if tawasul
[33:07]is permissible if tawasul is allowed why did allah legislate it what
[33:12]is the wisdom and philosophy behind it why not just keep it
[33:16]plain and simple whenever you need something come and ask me and
[33:19]a done deal tonight inshallah we'll delve into these five questions with
[33:24]aloud let us begin from here this concept of tawasul this practice
[33:35]of tawasul you will find between the two schools of thought within
[33:39]islam this is one of the most sensitive issues that is brought
[33:45]up before i made my trip here to dearborn had a quick
[33:47]stop in new york in new york we're going with family we
[33:50]got a uber lift whatever you want to call it from one
[33:54]place to another place we got into the uber lyft turns out
[33:57]this brother is a muslim brother yes and of course he asked
[34:03]where are you from originally so on and so forth i'm from
[34:05]iran or so you're shia okay and the first thing that comes
[34:11]up when he knows that you are a shia is well i
[34:13]have one issue with you guys and he was very respectful by
[34:17]the way he was very friendly in his approach but he said
[34:20]listen i consider you guys to be my brothers and sisters you
[34:24]guys are muslims you guys are wonderful but we have one problem
[34:28]with you so what's this problem he said listen when we go
[34:32]to makkah and go to medina this is a place for us
[34:35]to remember allah subhanahu wa this is a place where we come
[34:40]we ask allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for stuff you guys are constantly
[34:43]making about muhammad and fatima and these individuals i can't bear this
[34:48]when you come there it's about allah say ya allah i need
[34:53]this ya allah need that don't bring in these other individuals constantly
[34:56]yes one of my relatives were in the car said so when
[35:02]you go ma nabi right you see the grave of the prophet
[35:04]you have no reaction to the grave of the prophet you say
[35:09]this is like worshiping the dead he said no masjid nabi is
[35:12]good too you know he said so when you go to masjid
[35:13]nabi why do you go there then say yeah i go to
[35:18]visit there you go you go to visit because in visiting these
[35:21]graves there's a lesson in it for you you learn from them
[35:25]you reflect on these characters so on and so forth all of
[35:28]this to say out of the hundreds of issues that the two
[35:32]schools of thought will disagree on this issue is the first issue
[35:36]that might come to the mind of someone who's looking at our
[35:39]school of thought from the outside and it helps you understand how
[35:42]sensitive of an issue this is between this and the perspective that
[35:47]we have on the sahaba of the prophet these two issues seem
[35:50]to be the most sensitive of all therefore it's better for us
[35:55]to have a better understanding of this topic because as sensitive as
[35:58]these two issues are you will find that both camps if you
[36:04]are a follower of sunnah if you are someone recited please if
[36:11]you are someone who associates himself one more sunday please one more
[36:25]sona please one regardless of which camp you fall under which regardless
[36:44]of which school of thought you attribute yourself to you will find
[36:48]that when this topic comes up the followers of both schools of
[36:50]thought will go back into their own camps and they will come
[36:54]back with their arguments but you'll quickly realize that their arguments on
[36:58]both sides seem to miss the mark altogether they seem to miss
[37:04]where the true point of argument is what the real question in
[37:06]the midst of this whole discussion is so you ask the average
[37:09]shia individual about this and he will say listen the quran talks
[37:14]about end of discussion in fact you should come with me with
[37:16]ziada this year when i'm going you should come because the quran
[37:18]talks about tawas let's do it together this is the shii perspective
[37:21]yes the perspective from allah says no this is not the perspective
[37:26]i agree on i have a different perspective on and this before
[37:28]we get into answering this whole question i want to vent a
[37:33]little bit because when we come and we gather for the majalis
[37:37]of imam al-hussein whether it's muharram whether it's ramadan whatever the case
[37:39]might be in our communities as a whole you will find that
[37:44]generally speaking on the educational side on the knowledge side embracing the
[37:49]knowledge of bait we have done a relatively poor job as communities
[37:53]yes when we want to come and follow the bay there's two
[37:57]wings that we use there's emotion there's these tears there's black that
[38:01]we're wearing so on and so forth and then there is the
[38:06]knowledge of the bait and you need both of these if you
[38:09]try to fly with one you're going to hit the ground and
[38:12]you can hit the ground very hard in our communities in the
[38:17]average community not every community average community you will find the emotional
[38:20]side is there it's quite strong normally but the side where you
[38:27]discuss islamic topics you have a deeper understanding of your faith so
[38:30]that if someone asks you questions you have answers to provide many
[38:33]times this is lacking it's a serious problem and this is something
[38:39]that we need to start investing heavier in yes because if we
[38:43]come to these majalis whether it's muharram ramadan these are the times
[38:46]of the year where we sit down and we try to learn
[38:49]if we're not learning even during these times then what other major
[38:53]opportunities is going to pop up for an average family to learn
[38:56]about their faith to learn about the teachings of therefore it's important
[39:00]for us to always keep this in mind and as we'll go
[39:02]through these arguments you will see that the average shia individual has
[39:06]such poor arguments on this topic that sometimes it's quite embarrassing and
[39:12]i'm being very honest it's quite embarrassing sometimes to see how someone
[39:16]from this faith is trying to defend his faith but he doesn't
[39:19]have the knowledge or she doesn't have the knowledge to back it
[39:23]up this is a serious problem so you ask the average shia
[39:27]individual okay this concept of tawasul why do you believe in tawasul
[39:29]why can't we just go to allah directly all the time why
[39:33]do we have to ask through this person or that person sometimes
[39:35]he says well it's because you've never read the quran i've never
[39:39]read the quran the sunni person might say i read the quran
[39:43]more than you do he says yes you've never read the quran
[39:45]because you've never read surah maeda verse 35 suratul verse 35 says
[39:53]be fearful of allah reach salvation you need something between you and
[40:17]allah you say what else just look at the other verses of
[40:19]the quran the quran says in surah nisa verse 64 that there
[40:24]are those who when you tell them come to the prophet and
[40:26]let the prophet ask for forgiveness on your behalf they don't like
[40:29]it but if they were to come and the prophet were to
[40:33]ask for forgiveness on their behalf they would have found that allah
[40:40]is extremely merciful here the quran is telling you come the prophet
[40:44]will ask the prophet will do on your behalf you see what
[40:46]else says the famous verse everyone hold on to the rope of
[40:55]allah well whatever this rope is it's something other than allah subhana
[40:57]wa so you're coming to allah subhana tala through this rope this
[41:02]is what tawasul is see what else says the children of when
[41:05]they wanted to do is what did they do they came to
[41:10]their father they said o father why don't you ask for tawba
[41:16]on our behalf and he said i will i will do that
[41:19]and the prophet did not say did not say no no don't
[41:23]come and ask me go ask allah directly he said no i
[41:27]will ask for forgiveness on your behalf okay great the lecture should
[41:30]be done now yes we proved alhamdulillah the practice that you find
[41:35]in the quran and this person from sunnah will look you straight
[41:39]in the eye and say yes i've read all of these verses
[41:40]and i agree with all of these verses you're like okay so
[41:45]what's the problem then it says i believe in tawasul too you
[41:48]believe in tawasu no this is a she thing you're not supposed
[41:52]to believe in tawas so he says no i believe in talisman
[41:54]too the discussion is not on tawasul as a concept the discussion
[42:02]is on who can play the role of the wasilla who can
[42:05]you ask allah by can you ask him by anything by the
[42:11]right of anything or are there certain things that can play the
[42:15]role of the wasilla say yes the children of yakubu came and
[42:19]he asked for forgiveness on their behalf yes if the prophet is
[42:23]alive you can go and ask him to do dura on your
[42:27]behalf even the sunni want to tell you this so you're like
[42:29]oh where's the dispute where's the discussion he says there are certain
[42:32]things you ask allah subhana wa ta allah by them i don't
[42:35]agree on those things tawasul as a concept i agree on all
[42:40]muslims in the world believe in the concept of tawasu do they
[42:44]agree on the details of who can play the role of wasilla
[42:48]no that's where the details come very similar to the concept of
[42:51]shafara someone might say yes safara is something that shias believe in
[42:55]no sahih bukhari you fine the messenger of allah on the day
[43:02]of judgment that he will do shafarah for not only his the
[43:07]other ummas will come to him you'll do shafara for them too
[43:10]a you find many of these concepts are concepts that both schools
[43:17]of thought agree on it's the details where the differences of opinion
[43:21]start to present themselves say okay what are these differences of opinion
[43:24]anyway can i do tawasul in this way can i do tawasul
[43:29]in that way where in total when you put together the different
[43:32]forms of tawasul you will find that there are eight forms of
[43:36]tawasul we'll start from the beginning ones the first four or five
[43:40]everybody agrees on no problem on it you want to do telesur
[43:42]this way it doesn't matter if you follow bin baz it doesn't
[43:46]matter if you follow ibn miya it doesn't matter if you follow
[43:48]this person that person or you follow sheikh sadduc in these forms
[43:53]number one the first form of tawasu you ask allah by the
[43:57]right of his own names can you do tell us this way
[44:01]everybody agrees you can do tell us what are you doing yeah
[44:08]you ask allah by the right of his names you know those
[44:12]shorter lines in joshua that we love so much because they're shorter
[44:14]those are the lines they end very quickly we love those ones
[44:18]yes can i do tawasu in this way yes that's number one
[44:23]number two can i ask allah by the right of his attributes
[44:27]yes every muslim will tell you this what do you do at
[44:30]the beginning of darakumar you say i allah you by the right
[44:37]of your mercy can i do tawasu from the far right to
[44:42]the far left from the staunches sunni scholar to the most easy
[44:46]going shia scholar if you can use that terminology say yes you
[44:48]can do tell us this way no problem that's number two number
[44:52]three i ask allah subhanahu ta'ala by his own actions ibrahimovic your
[45:04]blessings the same way you sent blessings over there can i do
[45:07]this everybody agrees on number three yes moving on to number four
[45:13]and this is where it gets a bit interesting can i ask
[45:18]allah ta'ala by the right of my own good deeds i had
[45:22]a special good deed between me and allah subhanahu ta'ala can i
[45:25]go to the door of allah and say oh allah give me
[45:29]this hajjad by the right of this good deed that i've done
[45:32]every school of thought agrees this is allowed this is tawasu no
[45:39]problem it's allowed and this is why you find in sahih muslim
[45:41]in sahih bukhari you find this famous narration of the story of
[45:46]the three men that were stuck in the cave it's narrated by
[45:50]the prophet the prophet one day was speaking to his company says
[45:52]there was one day three men they were on their way outside
[45:56]they were traveling the rain started when the rain started they found
[46:00]a cave somewhere to go into when they went into this cave
[46:03]then all of a sudden a stone a rock fell down it
[46:07]took over the pathway out of the cave so now they got
[46:11]locked in into the cave and the narration says these three men
[46:16]were sitting there and they didn't know what to do until they
[46:19]sat down and thought you know what we're going to ask allah
[46:21]by the right of some of the special deeds that we've done
[46:25]this is this is the way hopefully he'll respond to us so
[46:29]the first one started he said listen i have done a very
[46:34]particular good deed no one else knows about this only i know
[46:36]about it it's between me and allah subhanahu wa there was a
[46:42]time i used to milk my cattle and i used to bring
[46:45]it for my family and my parents one night i came they
[46:49]had already fallen asleep it was too late for me to bring
[46:51]them the milk i went and waited outside their door until it
[46:56]was morning time the moment they woke up in the morning i
[47:00]gave them them this milk this was my way of honoring them
[47:03]of respecting them he said oh allah by the right of that
[47:06]one night that i spent outside the door oh allah move this
[47:12]rock the narration says the rock moved a little bit but it
[47:14]wasn't enough for them to leave second person got up he said
[47:19]you know what i have a special deed this is between me
[47:23]and allah will by the right of this specialty so what special
[47:26]deed is this he said there was a time i had a
[47:31]cousin this cousin of mine she had some financial need i had
[47:35]the money to take care of that need but i made a
[47:38]condition that if she wants this loan from me if she wants
[47:42]this money from me she has to accompany me in such and
[47:44]such deed it's haram did yes and as much as she insisted
[47:49]that she didn't want to be a part of anything like this
[47:50]i said no this is my condition you want the money this
[47:53]is how you're going to get the money until time passed and
[47:56]then one day i was sitting there i said what terrible thing
[47:58]i have done i changed my decision i went to her i
[48:01]said listen here's the money you don't need to you know be
[48:05]involved in any sort of deed with me and she took the
[48:10]money she walked away she took care of her hajja and that's
[48:13]it allah by the right of that change of mind that i
[48:17]had move this rock the narration says the move the rock moved
[48:21]again but not enough they were still stuck this third man he
[48:27]got up when he got up he said there was a time
[48:29]where someone was in financial need towards me and this person who
[48:36]was coming to take a loan from me or i or forgive
[48:40]me i had taken loan a loan from him this person i
[48:42]went back to give him his loan money back when i went
[48:46]to give him his loan money back he said listen i don't
[48:48]want to take it i don't need it when i left i
[48:52]said you know what in reality this still belongs to him i'm
[48:54]gonna keep it here if one day he changes his mind i'll
[48:58]have it for him i took his money i invested that money
[49:01]i kept that money on the side it turned into a number
[49:03]of sheep and you know cattle and so on and so forth
[49:07]one day he came to me say you know what now i
[49:10]need the money i said yeah no problem i had assumed that
[49:13]this day might come your money is here and this all of
[49:18]this cattle is for you too he said but i didn't give
[49:19]you this much money he said yeah i know but i took
[49:22]the money i said maybe one day you need it i invested
[49:24]it for you you can take all this cattle oh allah by
[49:28]the right of this special deed that i did for you and
[49:33]the narration says in muslim and bukhari that now the rock moved
[49:38]enough for them to get out of this cave can i ask
[49:43]allah by the right of a special deed i've done this is
[49:45]a form of tawasol every muslim scholar will tell you yes doesn't
[49:50]matter and this is one of those things brothers and sisters i
[49:55]encourage you and myself to do on a special night like tonight's
[49:58]ask yourself if you have hajjat and we all have hajjat right
[50:02]we all have requests from allah do you have a special deed
[50:06]maybe you feel a bit proud about you know proud in a
[50:08]good sense maybe you feel like this was a special deed maybe
[50:12]you feel like nobody else knows about this deed that on a
[50:15]special night like this you can go to allah with the special
[50:18]deed of yours say oh allah i did this special deed others
[50:22]don't know about it grant me my hajjah tonight on this special
[50:26]night by the rite of this good deed of mine you might
[50:31]say well i can't really think of anything well maybe now is
[50:35]the time to make that intention maybe now is the time for
[50:38]you to figure out this gift that you want to give to
[50:42]allah what is this gift going to be for you maybe for
[50:46]you it's something relating to your parents maybe something a kindness you
[50:49]do to your children maybe it's a charity maybe it's an apology
[50:53]you owe to someone whatever it might be but if i sit
[50:56]down and think i want to ask allah subhanahu ta'ala by the
[50:59]right of a good deed of mine and nothing comes to my
[51:01]mind maybe tonight i can make that intention ya allah i want
[51:06]to make this sacrifice for you i want to make this gift
[51:09]for you when i ask you i ask you by the right
[51:11]of this good deed of mine think you think for yourself i
[51:13]think for myself what is it that i could hold on my
[51:17]hand on the day of judgement i can walk into maksha you
[51:19]say allah i have this special gift and on these special nights
[51:24]i can ask allah by the right of this good deed this
[51:26]is the fourth form of tawasu let us move on to number
[51:32]five onwards recited please number five can i come and ask special
[51:39]individuals in particular the prophet for them to pray for me while
[51:45]they are alive these are the key words can i do this
[51:51]every school of thought agrees yes you can do this no problem
[51:53]you were talking about these verses of quran the children of yahweh
[51:56]came they asked yahweh they said ask for forgiveness for us all
[52:00]this stuff yes they say yes was alive they came and asked
[52:02]while he was alive not after he left this world while he
[52:06]was alive to do tawbah for them to do is for them
[52:10]yes while the prophet is alive can we do this yes agreed
[52:14]upon in both schools so you say okay everyone is agreeing upon
[52:16]everything so where's the difference in the discussion huh six through eight
[52:21]is where things get kind of messy things get kind of detailed
[52:25]number six can i ask allah by the right of the prophets
[52:27]and for us by extension by the right of it this is
[52:33]where things start to differ now in other schools of thought they
[52:39]will say some scholars of theirs will say no you don't have
[52:41]the right to do this this is not a practice that we
[52:45]find in our narrations you say well you're shii right to say
[52:49]yes so how do you prove that this practice is allowed asking
[52:53]allah by the right of the prophet by the right of debate
[52:58]it's very simple brothers and sisters in our books there are narrations
[53:01]that talk about this in their books these narrations are not found
[53:05]which is that simple is that simple we had a difference of
[53:10]opinion about who speaks on behalf of the prophet after the prophet
[53:13]is gone yes this is the difference between shia and sunni yes
[53:16]because of that we have different books of narration because of that
[53:20]you're looking at one book i'm looking at a different book this
[53:22]book al-kafi i don't know whatever these books tell me you can
[53:26]perform this form of tawasol when you go to bukhari and muslim
[53:31]and so on and so forth maybe you don't find these narrations
[53:34]okay in your faith it's not allowed in my faith it's allowed
[53:37]even in the sunni school of thought this is not a unanimous
[53:40]opinion that this is problematic this form of tawasu but you might
[53:43]say some of them okay no problem some answers to you and
[53:47]says well this is a form of bidad this is a form
[53:50]of innovation no problem no problem the wudu that you did brothers
[53:56]and sisters today and they will do that maybe your sunni friend
[53:59]did today essentially when you're doing two different forms of what you're
[54:05]saying technically you're saying your form of wudu is a form of
[54:09]innovation and based on their faith he's saying your form of wudu
[54:12]is a form of innovation is a form of bidad this is
[54:15]a technical thing it's there's no when you have differences in schools
[54:18]of thought this is essentially what's happening this is not a problem
[54:23]a sunni might look at the way you pray you put your
[54:26]hands down for example outside of the maliki school of thought and
[54:29]i say this is bitter why are your hands down your hands
[54:33]should be up you look at the same person you say based
[54:35]on my faith and my understanding the way you're praying is a
[54:40]form of bidar this is not a problem this is not where
[54:42]we draw the line this is not what creates problems there's a
[54:47]step that goes beyond this step that goes beyond this that becomes
[54:50]problematic that we'll get to when we discuss number eight of the
[54:54]forms of tawasul number six can i ask allah subhanahu talah by
[54:57]the right of it yes we have many dwaras that do this
[55:00]okay so this isn't a problem for us it might be a
[55:03]problem for other schools of thought that's fine that's their faith this
[55:06]is our faith they might say this is bitter from our perspective
[55:09]yes and we might look at the way they pray and say
[55:12]this is a form of that's not where you draw the line
[55:14]that's okay there's different schools of thought that's fine let us move
[55:18]on to number seven number seven is can i ask for the
[55:24]prophet to pray for me after he has left this world while
[55:29]he's alive everyone agrees no problem after he has left this world
[55:32]this is where things start to get even more problematic this person
[55:38]will tell you listen the prophet is dead he's gone who are
[55:45]you talking to it's like you went up to a stone or
[55:49]a wall you asked the ceiling oh please pray for me he
[55:52]says who are you asking he's gone you of course come back
[55:59]to him you say no the prophet is alive don't think that
[56:03]those who died in the path of allah that they are that
[56:06]they are alive he says yes i know that allah the prophet
[56:09]is alive but he has no connection with this world he might
[56:15]be alive in the barzah but he's not he has no connection
[56:19]with this world because the prophet himself said the moment you leave
[56:23]this world your connection with this world is only through three things
[56:27]yes either sadaqa that people are benefiting from yes or a child
[56:37]who prays for him this is the way you're in touch with
[56:40]this realm outside of these three you have no connection with this
[56:44]world so you're going you're asking this person who's dead this is
[56:49]a problem no problem in those narrations this is a problem in
[56:54]our narrations these are prevalent you say well it's that simple just
[56:58]because they have hadith that doesn't allow it maybe we have hadith
[57:04]that allows it there's a difference that's it it's as simple as
[57:08]that the majority of sunni shia issues are not to be discussed
[57:10]at the lower level they are to be discussed in terms of
[57:14]who speaks on behalf of the prophet that's the major issue the
[57:17]rest of these these are detailed issues my hadith tells me to
[57:21]pray this way your hadith tells you to pray that way end
[57:23]of discussion we're moving on you have a problem with my hadith
[57:27]that's a higher level discussion yes you understand you follow that's a
[57:31]higher level discussion on which hadith we're supposed to look at should
[57:34]we look at the hadith of abdullah ibn umar or hadith of
[57:36]this person of the hadith of that person or shall we look
[57:40]at the hadith of the al-bait only this is where the real
[57:42]discussion is this is number seven moving on to number eights number
[57:47]eight is the most sensitive of all of these forms of tawasul
[57:52]why because in this eighth form of tawasol and this would require
[57:57]your attention because it is something that both schools of thought have
[58:00]some learning to do about both schools of thought this eighth form
[58:05]of tawasul is when you ask the person directly the previous forms
[58:12]of tawasu say oh allah by the right of this person in
[58:15]this form of tawasul what are you doing you say ya muhammad
[58:21]ya ali directly though in the back of your mind you know
[58:25]that these individuals they're not independent in any of the power that
[58:29]they have you know this in the back of your mind yes
[58:32]but you're coming you're speaking to these individuals directly you're asking your
[58:36]hajjat of them directly this is the eighth form of tawasul is
[58:40]this form of tawasul prevalent in the narrations that we have from
[58:44]albeit no it's not that is to say the least brothers and
[58:50]sisters it's quite clear that did not want this to become a
[58:58]prevalent form of tawasul where instead of asking allah by the right
[59:02]of it which is very prevalent in our narrations that you ask
[59:08]these individuals directly even though deep down you know that this person
[59:11]is not independent of allah this is not prevalent in our narrations
[59:16]and i'm just sticking to the least amount there's more to be
[59:21]said about this i don't want to go down that path this
[59:23]is something that's not prevalent take a look for example in sahih
[59:27]how often do you find imam sajjad when he's doing dua does
[59:32]he say ya muhammad give me this give me this doesn't do
[59:40]that you know what he does very often he says oh allah
[59:45]send your praise and blessings upon this family and give me my
[59:49]hajjah what is this he's saying oh allah by the right of
[59:52]this family give me my hajj yes this is very prevalent but
[59:56]turning to ali directly turning to i don't know imam hussain this
[60:03]is not prevalent in our narrations to say the least so someone
[60:08]says well i recite duration this is what you do if you
[60:12]pay attention even in with a discussion that revolves around so there's
[60:16]a whole discussion around it but i'm going to leave that aside
[60:19]even are you asking the prophet directly if you pay attention to
[60:25]what you say in dharat tawasu what do you say ya you
[60:27]say ya oh prophet of allah i'm taking you with my hajjah
[60:42]to allah even there you're not asking him directly say yes i'm
[60:48]taking him oh allah when i come to you from my request
[60:52]i'm bringing who i'm bringing the best of your creation with me
[60:57]even there it may not require or qualify as this eighth form
[61:03]of tawasol that is so you know severe that many don't even
[61:07]call it tawasul anymore they call it meaning you're asking this person
[61:12]for help directly you're not asking allah anymore if it's not prevalent
[61:16]can someone turn around then and say this is haram if you
[61:18]do this this is no based on our faith the mainstream opinion
[61:24]amongst our scholars is no this is not haram either may not
[61:28]be the best form to do tawasul but it's not haram either
[61:32]and this is the point i want you to pay attention to
[61:35]especially we have kids in college this is the important point someone
[61:39]from the other schools of thought comes and says well in our
[61:41]school of thought this is haram you're not allowed to do it
[61:46]this is terrible you say okay fine in your school of thought
[61:49]you have the right to have your opinion yes you have the
[61:51]right in your opinion that this is not a allowed way a
[61:55]permissible way to do tawasu no problem you can't jump though from
[62:00]saying this is biddaha this is haram this is innovation to saying
[62:05]if you do this form of tawasul you are mushrik this is
[62:09]a jump yes i pray you pray the way you pray from
[62:15]my faith's perspective there is buddha in it the way i pray
[62:21]from your faith's perspective there is bid i in it but jumping
[62:23]from bitter to saying now you're mushrik this is the jump and
[62:29]this is a jump that you will find a minor loud you
[62:35]know minority within the sunni school of thought have made and they
[62:41]are so vocal that sometimes even when sunni school of thought scholars
[62:44]come out and say listen this form of tawasu is not good
[62:49]you shouldn't be doing it it's bad but it's not shirk that's
[62:52]all even the scholar will get attacked how dare you say it's
[62:57]not sheikh this is straight up shirk say you ask anyone for
[63:01]anything this is a form of now there are many ways that
[63:05]we talk about this and say no this is not you can't
[63:07]jump from this being considered to be considered a form of shirk
[63:12]this is where the discussion this is the problem when you talk
[63:17]about coexisting this is where the problem comes you can say this
[63:19]is bina this is haram i don't approve of it okay no
[63:22]problem this is your faith your school of thought you can have
[63:25]your opinion but to jump and say well you did this you
[63:28]called someone other than allah subhanahu wa hence you are kafir mushrik
[63:32]from this point onwards this also is a jump and it is
[63:37]a reach recitation please this idea of tawasul as we slowly wrap
[63:48]up inshallah coming to these special nights this idea of tawas brothers
[63:53]and sisters at least in the earlier forms of it setting aside
[63:56]number eight the other forms of it is it something that we
[63:59]find amongst our scholars is it something that we find as a
[64:02]practice amongst those special characters that we've had throughout our history definitely
[64:07]and they are individuals who are not known for being emotional individuals
[64:13]or individuals who are into this love and affection of alibaba and
[64:16]they don't care about anything else no they were individuals who were
[64:20]known as philosophers some of them people used to split hairs when
[64:24]it came to different intellectual sciences when it came to tawas the
[64:28]right forms of tawasu they used to do it a very good
[64:32]example of this is none but this famous philosopher of ours yes
[64:39]he used to live in a village because he was kicked out
[64:41]of his own town he used to live in a village that
[64:44]was that is now with car maybe 40 45 minutes away from
[64:46]the city of guam yes even now it's not a proper city
[64:51]let alone back in the day was definitely more of a village
[64:55]he says that whenever i ran into a philosophical issue and i
[64:57]could not solve it i used to make my way by foot
[65:02]towards the shrine of lady fatima and marsuma and i would go
[65:09]there i would worship allah by the way by the time i
[65:12]would come back my philosophical issue was taken care of solved and
[65:20]amongst those scholars who is not so easy going when it comes
[65:23]to calling a hadith or you know approving of a narration is
[65:30]none you find that he himself on a personal level was impacted
[65:36]by this concept of tawasu his friend says i came one muharram
[65:41]and i saw it in the city of najaf i told him
[65:44]i said listen you're wearing black he was wearing black head to
[65:50]toe even his socks were black he says i turned to him
[65:54]i said listen you are of older age yes and it may
[65:57]not be the best idea you're wearing this black head to toe
[66:02]in najaf it's very hot maybe you should go with a different
[66:04]color he says he told me listen everything i have is from
[66:10]wearing black and muharram and satar so what do you mean he
[66:15]said come sit i'll tell you a story he says i came
[66:19]and sat with ayatellahui he says listen i had a father this
[66:22]father of mine he was also a speaker he used to go
[66:27]up on the member he used to speak and amongst the things
[66:29]he used to speak about and amongst the things that he used
[66:31]to encourage others to do was to do another a promise yes
[66:37]by the right of the third imam for the third imam so
[66:43]that allah would grant your request he says of course we had
[66:50]a problem in our own households my mother and my father they
[66:56]were struggling to have kids the problem is they would try but
[66:58]then a miscarriage would happen every time so they weren't able to
[67:02]hold on to their kids so he says he used to tell
[67:06]people this all the time and people knew that we struggled our
[67:08]family struggled with this issue slowly people found out until one day
[67:11]he was up on the mimbad and he told people people you
[67:14]should do another for the third imam and maybe allah will respond
[67:17]to your requests and your hajj he came down from the mimba
[67:22]he was on his way home this lady caught up to him
[67:23]and this lady said listen you keep telling us to do this
[67:26]don't you have a hajj of your own do you have a
[67:30]request of your own he said yes i do she said well
[67:35]you should be doing this then he came home he told my
[67:40]mother his wife the mother of she said well she's right it's
[67:45]what we tell people we should try to we have a hajja
[67:47]too we want to have kids we're not able to have kids
[67:51]he says fine but what should we do we don't have anything
[67:55]to give for him we don't have anything to give for imam
[67:57]hussain so what should we do he says my father sat there
[68:04]with my mother and said listen we don't have anything but what
[68:07]we do have is our clothes we will wear black in commemoration
[68:11]of imam hussain you and i might decide to commemorate imam hussain
[68:14]not just only in this way with other ways as well with
[68:18]our time our money or whatever it is but for him he
[68:20]had nothing else to offer this is the only thing he could
[68:23]do he said this is what i can do wear black muharram
[68:27]and i'm going to wear black i said fine we'll do this
[68:29]so this time they tried the child is now in the womb
[68:35]it's growing a number of months passed by seven months now pass
[68:41]by no miscarriage and the story says that one night he says
[68:46]one night someone came one of the other students of the house
[68:51]that came and he knocked on the door of my father late
[68:53]at night my father came he opened the door so what is
[68:56]it this late at night he said i have a question for
[69:01]you is your wife pregnant she carrying a child he said yes
[69:07]she's carrying a child seven months now because of that time if
[69:12]you were pregnant it wasn't something that you would disclose so quickly
[69:15]yes they would hold on to that idea so yes my wife
[69:21]is pregnant why he said listen i had a dream and in
[69:26]this dream i saw the prophet came to me and when the
[69:32]prophet came to me he said listen go and tell hui that
[69:37]this one this child that they have we're gonna hold on to
[69:43]him because of the now that he did for my grandson we're
[69:47]gonna hold on to him this one is our gift he will
[69:53]be a great adam we'll give him to you because of that
[69:56]another you did for my grandson and you should name him abu
[70:05]qasim you should name him after me and i to he says
[70:08]this is how i was then named and of course he himself
[70:16]was that child now you think ayatollah is someone who goes easy
[70:19]on narrations and a hadith and no think twice think again he's
[70:24]very strict on these issues yes but when it comes to the
[70:26]concept of tawasul when it's done properly you find that it impacted
[70:33]his life on a very personal level and beyond this there are
[70:36]sunni scholars from early islamic history who were known to be individuals
[70:42]who used to visit the grave of the eighth imam amongst them
[70:45]a famous sunni scholar of hadith his name was ibn hibban he's
[70:48]the author of sahih of ibn hibban he's a scholar of hadith
[70:53]in this book of hadith he has a book by the name
[70:57]of the reliable narrators when he's talking about the reliable narrators he
[71:01]talks about one narrator by the name of alibi musa he says
[71:05]ali ibn musa is also one of those reliable narrators you and
[71:08]i will call him an imam but he says he's a reliable
[71:12]narrator and he says i've gone to his grave many times and
[71:20]he says there is a thing with his grave every time i
[71:24]ran into an issue i used to go to his grave and
[71:28]ask allah in the presence of the grave and every time my
[71:32]problem would be solved and he says he says i've tested this
[71:41]multiple times another great scholar very similar thing they say when he
[71:48]used to come out he's a fourth century islamic scholar when used
[71:50]to come out with his students his students would see the way
[71:54]he would show humility in the presence of the grave of the
[71:57]eighth imam they were surprised it would surprise us what he would
[72:03]do these are the great scholars that we have yes now one
[72:05]might ask and this is the most important question the reason why
[72:10]i chose this topic to begin with one might ask sheikh i
[72:13]understand this form of tawasu these forms they are allowed if someone
[72:16]comes and says they're not allowed i say no problem in your
[72:20]faith they're not allowed in my faith they are allowed we have
[72:22]narrations about them outside of the eighth form that may not be
[72:24]prevalent in our school of thought the other forms are very prevalent
[72:26]there's no problem with them okay i understand if someone says why
[72:31]do you do this tawasul i say because it's allowed because of
[72:33]this reasons in my faith in my school of thought but what
[72:37]is the wisdom what is the philosophy why does allah even want
[72:41]us to come and ask through these individuals why not make it
[72:44]plain and simple that way we didn't have to sit through this
[72:47]long lecture that sheikh mahdi gave tonight why not make it plain
[72:53]and simple you need something ask allah done deal you don't have
[72:56]to worry about anything what's the wisdom behind it what's the philosophy
[73:00]behind it there are four reasons that i will mention there might
[73:04]be more but these are the four that come to my mind
[73:07]number one it is a test of humility of the human being
[73:10]that he wants to ask allah for something he has to be
[73:14]on the good side of the representative of god on earth it's
[73:20]a test of humility shaytaan as long as it was god and
[73:23]worship god and do sadja to god he had no problem the
[73:27]moment they told them all you have to come and now you
[73:30]have to show your respect to this individual and he wasn't worshipping
[73:34]adam you're still supposed to worship god but the moment they said
[73:38]this what did he say enough this is a test of humility
[73:44]of the human being this is number one number two when you
[73:46]do tawasul it is a reminder of your insignificance and how technically
[73:52]speaking you are not worthy of speaking to allah directly technically speaking
[73:58]you say but allah said whenever you need something you can come
[74:03]speak to me yes he said that out of his mercy but
[74:06]are you worthy to go by yourself with your sins and your
[74:11]shortcomings and my sins and my shortcomings and just knock on his
[74:12]door say i want to talk to you technically we're not worthy
[74:18]of that status you have to take someone else with you you
[74:22]have to take the alibate with you you want to go speak
[74:27]to allah in your what do you do in your adhan across
[74:31]all schools of thought please why why because you have to acknowledge
[74:44]him on your journey to allah say but i can speak to
[74:48]him yes allah out of his mercy his doors are always open
[74:50]anyone wants to come and speak to him can come and speak
[74:53]to him but this is a reminder that technically you and i
[74:57]are full of shortcomings and sins this is number two number three
[75:00]the reason why allah says sometimes when you want to ask me
[75:05]ask me through these individuals is to remind you of their great
[75:09]status what do we read in the first portion of it i
[75:20]am asking you by the right of those who are people of
[75:27]authority those that you told me to listen to them and through
[75:33]this obligation of listening to them you taught me their status they're
[75:40]on a different level you want to come talk to me why
[75:43]don't you go ask through them you can come to me sometimes
[75:48]too there's no problem sometimes come through them and number four and
[75:51]maybe the most important of all allah wants you to have an
[75:58]emotional relationship with this family he wants to see you seeing this
[76:03]family as connected to your hajjah to the blessings of allah say
[76:09]allah i want to come i want to ask you directly he
[76:13]says listen have you met hussein before have you met this special
[76:18]servant of mine before you should get to know hussain say allah
[76:23]but i have this hajjah it says yes ask me through hussain
[76:27]why what's the headache i'll just come to you directly it says
[76:30]no you have to get to know hussein if you don't know
[76:34]hussain you're missing out if you don't know this family you're missing
[76:38]out come and ask me directly sometimes sometimes ask me by the
[76:44]rights of this grandson of the prophet come and ask me by
[76:48]the right of so that you can get to know who he
[76:55]is because if you get to know who hussein is you might
[76:58]just fall in love with his character you might just build a
[77:04]love and affection for him fourteen hundred years later when they mention
[77:09]his name tears might flow from your eyes come and ask me
[77:14]by the right of hussain this hussain if you get to know
[77:18]him you will never forget who he is this hussain the things
[77:22]that we did on the tenth of muharram but he never said
[77:25]anything disobedient towards us this hussain is so special for me my
[77:33]greatest messenger was crying for him this hussain he has a brother
[77:41]everyone wants to have a brother like him we took his brother
[77:46]away from him still he didn't say anything displeasing to us this
[77:52]saying he has a sister get to know his sister you might
[77:58]just fall in love with who his sister is you might just
[78:03]be mesmerized by these characters this hussain he has a son his
[78:09]name is ali akbar we took ali akbar away from him when
[78:15]he used to walk he used to remind hussein of the prophets
[78:19]the way he walked the way he talked the way he did
[78:23]things we took ali away from hussein and still he did not
[78:29]disobey us and still he said ya allah whatever you want this
[78:35]hussain of mine he had a son abdullah six months old we
[78:43]took abdullah away from hussein he held his own child in front
[78:50]of him and his own child was leaving this world in front
[78:54]of him but he did still said it's easier for me o
[79:02]allah because you're watching you can come ask me directly anytime you
[79:06]want sometimes you should come and ask me through hussain you need
[79:11]to get to know who this family is if you don't know
[79:15]who this family is you're missing out if you get to know
[79:19]who this family is you might just be mesmerized for the rest
[79:21]of your life for 1400 years and counting this is the wisdom
[79:28]that allah has legislated this concept of tawasul for us we raise
[79:32]our hands on these special nights especially tonight and we ask allah
[79:36]subhanahu wa ta'ala by the right of his by the right of
[79:41]imam al-hussein who tomorrow on the 10th of muharram will go through
[79:43]maasai and difficulties you and i cannot even imagine we ask allah
[79:48]subhanahu wa by the right of the patience of zainab we ask
[79:54]allah by the loyalty of abbas we ask allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[79:58]by the obedience of we ask allah by the inanimate innocence of
[80:05]ali that allah blesses all of our families that allah frees all
[80:09]of those who are in difficulty in pain under oppression under bombings
[80:13]as we speak we ask allah that he frees them from their
[80:17]difficulties and pains in sha allah and finally last but not least
[80:22]we ask allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that he hastens the return of
[80:24]our beloved 12th imam with a loud soul [Applause] before we start
[81:07]the poem and the mesh list i just like to make a
[81:11]couple closing remarks to our program as tomorrow is the last night
[81:15]and tomorrow will just be the majlis so first on behalf of
[81:21]the asura project we would like to thank everyone who attended we
[81:24]would also like to thank shaykh mahdi stani for coming to our
[81:27]community for another year and blessing us with this presence alhamdulillah the
[81:32]feedback the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and i can say it
[81:38]would certainly that myself and others have greatly benefited from his lectures
[81:42]alhamdulillah it is truly an honor to have him here every single
[81:44]year that we for the last two years and with that i'd
[81:48]like to start with the poem in sha allah and then we'll
[81:51]go into the masjid muhammad is not an anecdote in the timeline
[82:10]of history nor is he just an innocent child killed at the
[82:14]hands of mad men persecuting him was the epitome of their misery
[82:17]abdullah is the enemy's grandest mistake he is the paragon of sacrifice
[82:24]abdullah's death is a symbol of the perpetual chase for power and
[82:30]greed he's evidence that oppression has no boundaries no mercy no creed
[82:35]abdullah is the millions of children that are still being swallowed by
[82:41]power hungry vultures when the companions fell under the slumber of death
[82:47]hussein alaihis salaam shouted for help but the infamous call for help
[82:53]was aimed at us not them hussein was not trying to revive
[82:56]the deceased but to awaken the ones currently asleep tonight is the
[83:01]tenth night of muharram it was on this night that the companions
[83:04]claimed their loyalty it was on this night that they made the
[83:09]jump it was on this night that the companions remained are we
[83:12]ready to join his campaign or will our names perish and cease
[83:18]to exist muhammad [Music] muhammad [Music] [Music] allah [Music] [Music] may the
[85:21]peace of allah be upon the benevolent heart of imam hussain may
[85:30]the peace of allah be upon you abdullah as you are his
[85:42]vast mercy and the salvation of this [Music] um [Music] this is
[86:22]the last night in karbala a stranger [Music] thirsty [Music] the peace
[86:52]of allah is upon you and upon your family and your baby
[86:57][Music] let's set the scene in our hearts and minds this is
[87:06]the night before the day of the massacre it's dark in the
[87:15]desert and imam saying is reflecting speak on light of sorrow of
[87:26]tears and hearts and woe do [Music] gazed upon [Music] [Music] and
[87:58]he's thinking how shall they fare when he will fall when the
[88:09]tents burn who will they [Music] lay [Music] from wounds jaded how
[88:37]shall they run between tons how shall they hide from bashing whips
[88:51]and balloons their call will be feigned and sad how sane dear
[89:01]saint take our hand jose [Music] answer comes only echo returns perhaps
[89:30]they will look towards the river's banks and call his name one
[89:40]last time perhaps his hands can still carry a sword perhaps he'll
[89:53]bring water one final time my bus [Music] has pained our eyes
[90:45]shut our tears and brought great calamity upon our loved one in
[90:51]a land of trial and hardship and has committed us to distress
[90:57]and affliction until the end of days so for hossain let the
[91:01]weepers weep for weeping for hussain wipes away the greatest of sins
[91:08]and tonight is the night of weeping as we recall the final
[91:16]hours before the tenth day imagine how that must have been like
[91:22]imagine the anticipation the sorrow the sadness the fear and the hearts
[91:30]of zainab and her sisters and the woman that were in the
[91:35]caravan and the young children besieged in a desert that night was
[91:42]difficult in al-imam al-hussein spoke to his companions but he also had
[91:49]a conversation with his sister zainab he spoke to zayn up gently
[91:57]and consoled her for the coming tragedy he reminded her of the
[92:04]virtue of patience and the great value of the role that she
[92:09]will carry but may allah may god help the heart of zainab
[92:14]the mother of calamities they call her um because of how many
[92:20]calamities she dealt with how did she feel that night as she
[92:26]waited as she awaited the coming morning it's as if sayed azainab
[92:36]was speaking with the night sky that day pleading with it not
[92:41]to allow the morning to rise [Music] [Music] [Music] length in your
[93:25]hours it's a hypothetical discussion between zainab and the night under the
[93:33]glowing [Music] would stars with her lips chapped despair through the lands
[93:43]and up would say how saying my brother must you stay how
[93:55]sane tomorrow the children will cry animals you saying tomorrow the children
[94:03]will be terrified and no longer play but i will remain when
[94:11]your soul soars away hussein she spoke to the name she said
[94:20]with every beat of her heart with every speck of her might
[94:25]all night stay dark don't become great all night remain don't allow
[94:37]the morning light all night length in [Music] it is my trial
[95:00]all night is my trials but there's another hypothetical discussion going on
[95:10]between zainab and the night and she's telling the night of someone
[95:13]else other than hussain who's that person then walked over then zainab
[95:29]walked over the bus and sat by his side [Music] and for
[95:38]long she cried she cried [Music] abbas you swore to be my
[95:47]guide you swore to guide my side of us tomorrow the children
[96:00]will cry and no longer play and i will remain when your
[96:07]soul soars away abbas she spoke to the night with every bit
[96:20]of her heart and every speck of her might all night stay
[96:24]dark don't become bright all night remain don't allow the morning light
[96:38][Music] [Music] [Music] i want to share another tragedy that breaks the
[97:08]heart of said fatima alaihissalam in the heart of sahib zaman this
[97:14]is the treasury of abdullah and this happened the next day during
[97:19]the battle after all of the companions were killed imam hussain when
[97:26]he was in kerbala he had a six-month-old baby with him his
[97:32]name was abdullah that day after all the companions had been killed
[97:37]and the family members had been killed imam hussain stands alone in
[97:45]that plane and he says [Music] victor who will support us is
[98:07]there no one who will help us no one answers his call
[98:16]it just echoes imam hussain alaihissalam realizes it's time for him to
[98:21]enter the battlefield [Music] he came to bid farewell to his daughters
[98:26]and sisters then he went outside and before mounting his horse he
[98:36]stops he calls his sister zainab yeah saying up there's one more
[98:41]person i want to bid farewell [Music] i want to embrace him
[98:59]one last time saying how saying god before [Music] i long to
[99:22]hold my baby let me feel his calming touch let me see
[99:35]his lips [Music] chapter how was the baby for the past two
[99:50]days his mother had had no water and barely any food so
[99:56]he was extremely dehydrated and malnutritioned in addition they've been stranded in
[100:03]a scorching desert with little protection from heat and sun the baby
[100:07]was unconscious from these severe conditions he's holding him in his arms
[100:17]as he's holding him the enemies see the scene so some of
[100:24]these soldiers on omar evans side in yazid's army a dispute breaks
[100:30]out some of the soldiers say hey give this baby water others
[100:33]say do not show mercy to anyone from that household and the
[100:40]argument grows and the argument so he looks to his best archer
[100:46]he says [Applause] when he was questioned later he says i took
[101:06]out a tri-bladed arrow an arrow that has three bladed edges on
[101:12]it this is an arrow that will cause a great a great
[101:18]lesion in the flesh he says i looked at the baby and
[101:22]i saw his neck is uncovered and it's as if it was
[101:29]shining as if it was a shining target for me so i
[101:35]ate my arrow and i shot the baby in the throat and
[101:48]the heat from the arrow he awakened in agony he fluttered like
[101:56]a portrait of in the arms and he grabbed out his father
[102:05]and he bled into his father's hands and quickly passed away rahim
[102:13]allah [Music] is [Applause] [Music] but he's patient what does he do
[102:33]what does a father do he fills his head with the blood
[102:40]gushing from up the last throw and he throws the blood towards
[102:47]the sky and he says what has befallen me is easier as
[103:04]it's in the eyes of allah there's a narration from al-imam where
[103:13]he says that when the imam threw the blood towards the sky
[103:17]not a single drop returned back to earth and the there is
[103:31]someone who will feed abdullah in the heavens [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
[103:57][Music] [Applause] [Music] babies cry laugh and play but hussain a gentle
[104:28]face burnt by the sun [Music] lipstick and no one runs and
[104:40]as hossein held him near and close an arrow came swift with
[104:53]wall [Music] into his throat and blood began to flow [Music] patient
[105:11]shed tear after this my baby butchered in my arms here yeah
[105:27]i'll be my baby in my arms has died without sin and
[105:35]for up the lie he cried [Music] and hide him from his
[105:59]mother if you get [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] may
[107:17]the peace of allah be upon abdullah the slain blood stained infant
[107:29]whose blood was elevated to the sky [Music] butchered and his father's
[107:38]art allah ya allah we ask and call upon you by your
[107:54]greatest name the mightiest the most honorable to send your blessings and
[108:02]praise upon muhammad and the family of muhammad and that you accept
[108:06]of us our worship we ask that you send your mercy upon
[108:11]the that of the believing men and woman we ask you by

[108:28]needs and on their behalf we pray that you are leave the
[108:32]suffering of all those oppressed and that you hasten the return of

[109:00]and the family of hussein may the peace of allah be upon
[109:07]us [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] is [Music] [Music] muhammad you
