[2:13]of them towards IM Ali A Sunni will say that that is

[2:19]my fourth Khalifa and a Shia will say that that is my

[2:21]first IM and indeed you find therefore that both in Sunni and

[2:28]Shia literature and in Sunni and Shia history there has been a

[2:32]great re of IM Ali that is undeniable for a sh to

[2:34]think that IM aliam is not praised in Sunni literature is very

[2:39]naive and you find that within Sunni literature there are a number

[2:47]of merits of Imam Al that I believe some sh don't even

[2:49]know about so for example when one looks in bukari or looks

[2:55]in Muslim there are certain merits or certain incidents that all of

[2:59]you will say well we've heard those in MA we've all know

[3:02]about them but then there are certain incidents that I can guarantee

[3:06]you are narrated in Sunni literature may also be narrated in the

[3:09]Shia literature but the general Shia community may have never scrutinized or

[3:16]examined and these merits are vital for a number of reasons number

[3:22]one in my interaction and my dialogue I will recognize that IM

[3:27]does not only belong to me rather IM belongs to each and

[3:33]every Muslim in the world today and each and every Muslim in

[3:35]the world today has their own relationship with number two there are

[3:43]some even within the Sunni world who do not know about the

[3:48]lavish praise that IM received from on numerous occasions in his life

[3:58]from the beginning of the announcement of his prophethood until the day

[4:04]that he passed away there are numerous Traditions about the wonderful merits

[4:09]of IM Ali now I'm not going to deny that there is

[4:14]a certain element within Sunni history who didn't know where to place

[4:20]Imam aliam there are some who raised the question was IM greater

[4:27]than the first two yes there are are some who did raise

[4:32]that question believe it or not because there are some who said

[4:34]he may have been more knowledgeable than the first two cffs but

[4:37]their age difference may have meant that they were Superior to lead

[4:42]the Muslim Community so there were some who went towards that direction

[4:46]there are others who for example said that IM aliam was greater

[4:52]than the thir Khalifa and that there was a central debate that

[4:59]took place there are some who rever IM aliam but also revered

[5:03]those who fought IM aliam and therefore there was a confusion in

[5:10]their hearts where did you place IM Ali in relation to those

[5:13]who fought him because imagine if you have certain companions who have

[5:18]fought IM Ali J or does this mean IM aliam is rightly

[5:21]guided or not and the whole question about whether Imam Ali was

[5:26]the fourth rightly guided Khalifa is not a question that did not

[5:33]have debate one may argue that you get to the time of

[5:36]Imam Ahmed binal and then later on to IM and there are

[5:42]discussions about whether the merits of IM aliam should be announced in

[5:49]public whether a person should even mention the merits of Im aliam

[5:53]so someone like Nas one may argue gets tortured because he narrates

[5:59]the merits of IM aliam more than the merits of mu someone

[6:02]lik ahed in his work dedicates half the book towards the merits

[6:07]of IM aliam there are certain sections of some of the merits

[6:13]of IM aliam in Sunni literature that when you open them up

[6:17]you would pretty much ask the question does this author have some

[6:20]sort of sh inclination believe you me there are different authors in

[6:27]Islamic history who were accused of being Shia by the time they

[6:31]died simply because they narrated The of IMI and is one and

[6:35]he is one of the authors of we have B Muslim Abu

[6:44]and was another one who was accused of sh inclination Alim and

[6:50]another one accused of sh inclination that there are people who in

[6:54]some cases would not attend some of these people's funerals because they

[6:58]were accused of being Shia and what was the accusation that you're

[7:03]Shia you're narrating the merits of alali too much and that's why

[7:07]if you look in Arabic and in English before we get into

[7:10]the books and see the of IM in Sun literature there are

[7:16]certain Works in Arabic and English that scrutinized how there was a

[7:22]legacy of hate to IM Ali in certain parts of the Sunni

[7:28]world now someone might turn around and say that no I love

[7:31]IM Ali and I'm Sunni and I Reve him as the fourth

[7:34]khif this was not always the case there was a time the

[7:38]had their question marks on IM aliam there were time the had

[7:42]their question marks on IM aliam but generally speaking they were known

[7:47]as and that's why's work is a fundamental work that all of

[10:55]without a base or something which is unfounded because sometimes people come

[10:58]to us and say what's this why do you guys believe that

[11:01]IM should be the successor of sometimes I could show Hadith that

[11:09]I have in my literature and in Sun literature sometimes I can

[11:12]show hadiths in Sunni literature that give us an understanding of those

[11:18]who succeeded him how he views them and how he gives us

[11:24]hints about them come over here please page 426 the of okay

[11:31]come to which one to number 859 it was narrated that Alam

[11:39]said it was said oh messenger of Allah who should be appointed

[11:44]in charge after you are gone this is the question by the

[11:50]way that when non-muslims ask us and you'll see that there are

[11:59]and Sh for the last 14400 years it is on this central

[12:05]question this central question which all of you could see says who

[12:53]appoint Omar you will find him strong and trustworthy and not fearing

[12:57]the blame of anyone for the sake of Allah if you appoint

[13:04]Ali now look at this point which I do not think you

[13:08]will [Music] do you will find him a guide and guided he

[13:16]will take you on the straight path notice here in this Hadith

[13:24]is asked the question Naturally by people the most obvious question that

[13:29]I would ask the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him his family

[13:34]if I was around him is who is your successor after you

[13:36]die you are about to leave this world you've taught us how

[13:41]to brush our teeth you've taught us when to clip our nails

[13:43]you've taught us how we should be when we go towards the

[13:47]bathroom you've taught us how to eat and how to drink and

[13:51]what not to eat and what not to drink you've taught us

[13:52]how to pray and how to fast how to give charity and

[13:55]how to go on the pilgrimage and how to strive for the

[13:57]cause of God there's one question I need to know who is

[14:01]best fit to lead the umah he mentions three names Omar Ali

[14:07]for some reason in this Hadith is not even mentioned and IM

[14:14]Ali for the sake of polemics and the fact that this is

[14:19]in Sunny literature I will just want to mention the way he

[14:21]looks at the issue he says if you appoint ABAB Bakr and

[14:28]he doesn't have a doubt that they're going to appoint because it's

[14:33]as if he knows that after he dies there will be people

[14:38]who will do their own election to appoint and that's exactly Subhan

[14:42]Allah what happened he says to them if you appoint abak come

[14:45]back to the Hadith you will find him trustworthy and uninterested in

[14:49]worldly gain seeking the Hereafter he says this as his Merit according

[14:57]to Ahmed and if you appoint Omar you will find him strong

[14:59]and trustful worthy and not fear in the blame of anyone for

[15:02]the sake of Allah let's go with that that's the way it's

[15:06]narrated but if you appoint Ali which I do not think you

[15:10]will do it's as if is already telling them if you appoint

[15:15]Ali but I don't think you'll do it I know something that

[15:21]you will not appoint Ali let's go back you will find him

[15:24]what a guide and guided he will take Q on the straight

[15:30]path look at the Arabic over here when you look at the

[15:35]Arabic it comes to IM Ali and when it comes to Ali

[15:40]it says and if you were to appoint Ali but I don't

[15:49]see you people doing this sadly you will find that not Abu

[16:02]Bak not om ARB is what is someone who will guide and

[16:07]is guided that that is not given to Abu bak and Omar

[16:11]is it Abu Bakr and Omar are described a strong trustworthy no

[16:15]interest in the world but there's a difference when says what is

[16:28]had and M the one who can guide because he is Guided

[16:36]by Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala guiding towards what look at the last sentence

[16:44]of this which he does not give for the first two CS

[16:50]but he gives to IM aliam come back here the F last

[16:55]sentence he will take you on the straight path every day every

[17:02]Muslim in the world says why do we believe that and IMI

[17:15]why do we say they are the why does IMI in certain

[17:24]narration say because you will see here is the one who mentions

[17:29]this it's not me says takes you to I ask you if

[17:41]someone is praised and described in this way how could you make

[17:43]him number four if this was sh literature then someone could turn

[17:52]around to me and say say this is your sh books I

[21:09]merits of IM Ali sometimes when the Shia narrate these merits in

[21:14]their malalis you hear people saying oh you've made Ali your Demi

[21:17]God your half God your super God your other God I am

[21:22]showing you in Sunni literature the way Sunni literature presents the position

[21:28]of Imam come with me over here you will see that right

[21:30]from the beginning the prophet said to Ali you are from me

[21:37]and I am from you you are from me and I am

[21:47]from you now come to the next of the of IM Ali

[21:49]what is the next of the of IM you will see my

[21:54]dear brothers and sisters over here look at this wonderful narration on

[21:59]IM at the Battle of many times in our you'll hear the

[22:04]M speak about and the importance of and the greatness of and

[22:07]so on sometimes people ask this is only literature let's look at

[22:12]look at exact wording of what it saysi number 3701 narrated who

[22:21]Allah's messenger said tomorrow I will give the flag to a man

[22:31]with whose leadership Allah will grant the Muslims Victory so the people

[22:35]kept on thinking the whole night as to who would be given

[22:37]the flag the next morning the people went to Allah's messenger and

[22:44]every one of them hoped that he would be given the flag

[22:46]the prophet sallallah alai said where is the prophet the people replied

[22:54]he is suffering from eye trouble oh Allah's messenger he said send

[23:01]for him and bring him to me so when Ali came the

[23:11]prophet Sall spat in his eyes and invoked good on him and

[23:14]he became all right as if he had no ailment the prophet

[23:21]sallallah alaih then gave him the flag Ali said oh Allah's messenger

[23:25]shall I fight the enemy till they come like us the prophet

[23:32]said proceed to them steadily till you approach near to them and

[23:35]then invite them to Islam and inform them of their duties towards

[23:38]Allah which Islam prescribed for them for by Allah if one man

[23:42]is guided on the right path through you it would be better

[23:47]for you than a great number of red camels come to the

[23:50]next Hadith again 3702 narrated who as you can all see my

[23:56]dear brothers and sisters narrated Ali happened to stay behind the prophet

[24:03]and did not join him during the Battle of for he was

[24:13]having eye trouble how could I remain behind Allah's messenger so Ali

[24:19]set out following the prophet when it was the eve of the

[24:23]day in the morning of which Allah helped the Muslims to conquer

[24:28]it Allah's messenger said I will give the flag to a man

[24:32]or tomorrow a man whom Allah and his messenger love will take

[24:36]the flag or he said a man who loves Allah and his

[24:43]messenger and Allah will grant Victory under his leadership suddenly Ali came

[24:50]whom we did not expect the people said this is Ali Allah's

[24:54]messenger gave him the flag and Allah granted Victory under his leadership

[25:00]the Battle of we all know the sahab were all there none

[25:05]of them could defeat the Jewish opposition let's be frank on this

[25:09]everyone knows the history tomorrow I'll give a flag to the man

[25:15]who Allah and his messenger love whoever's around is it Abu Bakr

[25:18]no is it Omar no is it this one no is it

[25:22]that one no none of them no chance tomorrow I give the

[25:24]flag to a man who will give us Victory Imam Ali as

[25:29]we all know his eye was infected this if it was in

[25:34]a sh lecture m in mam people will say this is just

[25:37]look this is in bukari I'm quoting verbatim word for word in

[25:44]bukari exactly what it says about the merits of IM come join

[25:54]and sisters Hadith number 3706 narrated s that the prophet s Al

[25:59]said to IM Ali will you not be pleased from this that

[26:06]you are to me like Haron was to M how many times

[26:15]do we hear in the ma Ali is to me like Aaron

[26:19]was to Moses is compared to a prophet of Allah subhanahu wa

[26:27]taala in terms of his relationship to look at the Arabic you

[30:55]was to MSA or not oh ABD B you are to me

[30:56]like Aaron was to Mussa or not oh you are to me

[31:02]like Aaron was oh Ali you are to me like Aaron was

[31:06]to M and of course the people were questioning at this time

[31:08]is this true this of Ali there are some people who are

[31:14]born correct and there are others Allah now when we come to

[31:18]the next Hadith what does the next Hadith say 6218 31 look

[31:23]what it says another of the of IMI it was narrated that

[31:27]said the messenger of Allah appointed Ali in charge of Al and

[31:32]his absence during the campaign of tabuk he Ali said oh messenger

[31:36]of Allah are you leaving me behind with the woman and the

[31:38]children he said does it not please you to be to me

[31:42]as harun was to M except that there will be no Prophet

[31:46]after me so sah Muslim goes further in the elaboration of the

[31:50]incident the Battle of tabuk IM Ali not going asking the prophet

[31:52]why am I not going and then the prophet telling him you

[31:56]are to me like Aaron was to Moses I leave a town

[33:51]a stage of cursing Al but anyway that's the beautiful period of

[34:14]one of the 10 granted Paradise according to the Sunni worldview wish

[34:18]I had one of those three merits what are they look at

[34:21]the three of Ali I heard the messenger of Allah say to

[34:26]him when he appoints Ed him in charge during his absence when

[34:30]he went on one of his campaigns and Ali said to him

[34:33]oh messenger of Allah are you leaving me behind with the woman

[34:36]and the children the messenger of Allah sallallahu alai said to him

[34:39]does it not please you to be to me as Haron was

[34:43]to M except that there will be no prophethood after me Ali

[34:46]you are to me like har was to mus except that there's

[34:49]no Prophet after me which means that you are the first leader

[34:51]of the Muslims after me you are the Khalifa after me you

[34:55]are the IM of the Muslims after me how much more clear

[34:57]does Al have to be on this issue that's the first and

[35:04]I heard him say on the day of I shall give the

[35:09]flag to a man who loves Allah and his messenger and Allah

[35:16]and his messenger love him we were all hoping for it Subhan

[35:21]Allah he he literally says all of us sahab were waiting to

[35:27]see who is that person who got the stamp of approval from

[35:32]the heavens Al whatever he says is from the heavens who is

[35:37]it that the heavens are making a statement about him that Allah

[35:41]and the prophet love him and he loves Allah and the prophet

[35:46]everyone can claim they love Allah and the prophet but only Allah

[35:49]knows in the heart who's sincere and who's a hypocrite come back

[35:53]we were all hoping for it but he said call Ali for

[35:57]me he was bought and he was suffering from an inflammation in

[36:00]the eyes he put some spittle in his eyes and gave the

[36:06]flag to him and Allah granted him victory that was number two

[36:10]number three when this verse was revealed let us call our sons

[36:17]and your sons which incident is that let's call our sons and

[36:20]your sons and your woman and our woman and ourselves and yourselves

[36:25]which incident what do we honor this week my dear brothers sisters

[36:29]which Aid which incident my dear brothers sisters the incident of mu

[36:36]incident of mu is in the Quran when the Christians of Nan

[49:14]who is this person that if the qu don't stop this person

[49:17]will be the one who annihilates them and defeats them they said

[49:21]who is he or messenger of Allah abak said to him who

[49:26]is he or messenger of Allah Omar said to him who is

[49:31]he oh messenger of Allah he said he is the one repairing

[49:34]the sandals and he had given Ali his sandals to repair them

[49:38]he said then Ali turned to us and said indeed the messenger

[49:42]of Allah said whoever lies upon me intentionally then let him take

[49:45]a seat in fire therefore this is one of the greatest merits

[55:28]most beloved of your creatures to eat this bird with me so

[55:31]Ali came and ate it with him and so literature there are

[55:44]more than enough merits of IM Ali there are many who try

[55:49]to hide them there are some who love Ali sincerely and others

[55:52]by default there are some who are scared to praise him because

[55:57]they may be accused of being Shia live Us free human beings

[56:01]in this world even if you don't believe in anything be free

[56:03]in the way that you look at this world open your heart

[56:09]and try and understand the reality of the religion of Islam and

[59:19]loss of their parents can be gained by giving them gifts and
