[0:02][Music] one of the very beautiful and profound hadiths that we have
[0:31]from the six is the of Anan was an old man who
[0:46]wanted to seek wisdom and knowledge from IM he asks im a
[0:52]very profound and beautiful question he says to the IM which is
[1:06]the title of tell me what is the reality of servitude to
[1:11]God do we not say that we are slaves to God we
[1:17]are Servants of God I want you to describe for me the
[1:21]essence of what it means to be a servant of Allah subhah
[1:26]wa ta'ala what does servitude mean the Imam said three things let's
[1:36]briefly examine the three tips or descriptions that the Imam gives us
[1:41]so we can all be better Servants of the almighty God the
[1:48]first one the states the first one is you should not see
[2:04]anything that Allah subhana wa ta'ala has given you has lent you
[2:13]as milk as something that you own you don't have ownership over
[2:19]anything why is this significant why is this important because the states
[2:30]if you truly genuinely don't see what you have as your own
[2:36]possession as you are the real owner in that case it becomes
[2:52]easy for you to donate and spend according to what Allah subhana
[2:57]T has commanded you why is it difficult for for us to
[3:00]spend on Charities to give our religious dues to donate in general
[3:08]it's not easy I've heard from some people they say I'd rather
[3:11]give my soul than give my money we are attached to our
[3:17]money to our wealth to your stocks to your cryptocurrency you're attached
[3:23]to it one reason is because you really think it's your money
[3:26]when I have money in my bank account I am under the
[3:33]impression that this is my money my possession I am the owner
[3:36]but if you remind yourself that this is not your money this
[3:42]money belongs to Allah subhana wa ta'ala God is just letting you
[3:47]borrow his resources it's his money he's letting you borrow it you're
[3:52]not the real owner and if you want evidence and proof that
[3:55]you're not the real owner just think about this did you create
[4:02]your wealth from nothing no no human being has ever been able
[4:07]to create any resources all we do is reassemble them God is
[4:14]the creator of resources we reassemble these resources for our benefit none
[4:22]of us here created our wealth from nothing everything you use to
[4:30]gather your wealth was created by Allah subhana wa ta'ala so you're
[4:33]not the real owner God is the real owner in that case
[4:40]it should be easier for us to give to contribute to be
[4:43]generous because it's not your money God allowed you to borrow it
[4:50]and now God is telling you help out the poor support these
[4:54]projects you're using his money in fact when you donate to the
[5:03]poor for instance let's say you give an amount of money to
[5:07]the poor to the destitute to those who are in need to
[5:10]those who are victims of war to to those who are going
[5:15]through a crisis you should be thankful to those people in need
[5:20]you should be thankful to the projects that are helping those poor
[5:26]people for relieving you of the responsibility of owning wealth money is
[5:38]not really a privilege if you look at it money is a
[5:44]burden because we will be held accountable for how we spent money
[5:46]on the day of judgment in fact even before the day of
[5:52]judgment in our Graves God will hold us accountable how did you
[5:55]make your money how did you spend your money money is a
[5:59]liability it's a burden did you spend it a appropriately did you
[6:01]spend it wisely did you spend it in a Halal legitimate manner
[6:05]or no money is a burden we will be held accountable for
[6:11]how we spent it now when you give money to the poor
[6:16]when you donate you are fulfilling your financial responsibility before God before
[6:20]Humanity so actually you are indebted to the poor more than the
[6:27]poor is indebted to you because those poor people who re receive
[6:30]your assistance they help you release yourself from this burden from this
[6:35]responsibility you should be thankful to them that's servitude if you are
[6:43]able to truly see your wealth your Estates your properties your stocks
[6:51]your cash your balance whatever you have if you really able to
[6:55]see it as God's resources and God is just letting me borrow
[6:59]it you're one step closer to True servitude then you can really
[7:07]see yourself as a servant of God and act like a servant
[7:11]of God that's the first one the second one the IM States
[7:15]in this Hadith a true servant of God is not one who
[7:26]is obsessed with planning for himself and thinking that he or she
[7:35]can determine all factors around him or her now why is this
[7:40]important the states if you're able to do that if you can
[7:54]delegate your life and your Affairs and your fate to Allah rely
[8:04]on God then the trials of this world will become easy for
[8:08]you you can handle them now how do we understand the second
[8:13]recommendation from does that mean we should be Reckless and not have
[8:19]any plans and be aimless in this world of course not be
[8:23]productive fulfill your responsibilities plan appropriately but don't go to the extreme
[8:31]trying to plan every angle uh of your life every single aspect
[8:34]of your life such that if your plans are disrupted you collapse
[8:38]realize that life comes with trials be able to improvise submit yourself
[8:45]to Allah subhah wa ta'ala tell him my Lord you manage my
[8:51]life Affairs I'll do my part but I know that the outcome
[8:53]will come from you I don't own my circumstances I don't own
[9:03]anything in that case when a tragedy strikes us we will be
[9:07]more resilient because we know that God is with us we know
[9:11]that God allowed this to happen because this is in our interest
[9:14]God is elevating us he's training us he's strengthening us through these
[9:20]trials that's the second step to becoming a true servant of the
[9:31]almighty God realize that he is in charge not you many times
[9:33]when we over plan things and we want to run every aspect
[9:38]of Our Lives according to our desires and interests we forget that
[9:42]God is in charge we think that we're actually in charge we're
[9:48]not in charge Allah is in charge a true servant of God
[9:55]never forgets that the third recommendation that's gives us he States if
[10:06]you really want to be a servant of Allah subhana wa tala
[10:11]you should be preoccupied throughout your day and night obeying Allah subhana
[10:15]wa taala observing his commands and if there's something that God has
[10:17]prohibited you avoid it that's how you become a true servant then
[10:24]the states that's the fruit of being preoccupied with God's laws and
[10:36]commands if you're always fulfilling what God wants from you such as
[10:41]prayer such as fasting reading the Quran helping the poor keeping ties
[10:46]with your family members being good to your parents having good AK
[10:50]being helpful seeking knowledge these are all things God commanded us to
[10:57]do if you fulfill that and you avoid sins you avoid harm
[11:01]others backbiting gossiping avoid causing trouble in your family and your Society
[11:07]avoid looking at Haram listening to Haram if you can preoccupy yourself
[11:14]with observing God's laws then the result of that the fruit of
[11:19]that is what the IM States you will not have extra time
[11:34]to argue with people to cause problems with people to boast in
[11:38]the presence of people to talk about yourself and become self-conceited and
[11:44]become arrogant you'll not have time for any of that a true
[11:49]servant is the one who preoccupies himself or herself with what God
[11:54]wants not wasting any time on worldly matters not wasting time for
[11:59]pride pride and arrogance these are the three recommendations that the IM
[12:06]recommends to us in the now what is the result of these
[12:10]three virtues the if Allah has honored you he's gifted you these
[12:23]three virtues it's a gift from God and you have to ask
[12:26]Allah to give you these virtues in the month of Ramadan I
[12:30]know of you have your prayers you have your goals and objectives
[12:33]let one of them be Ya Allah give me these three gifts
[12:36]that's IM mentions in this Ya Allah honor me with these three
[12:46]virtues if Allah has honored you with these three virtues the result
[12:53]is the consequence is what is the trophy that God is going
[12:58]to give you for that you will overcome three things the first
[13:09]one is this world this material materialistic world this world powerfully attracts
[13:16]us and sets traps for us and eventually makes us drown just
[13:21]like a ship that sails on water that water carries the ship
[13:29]we need this world to be functional to obey God to do
[13:32]that which is good but the minute that water enters inside the
[13:35]ship that's it it's over the ship will sink how do you
[13:41]avoid the world pulling you to the point where you sink by
[13:47]having these three virtues it will be become feasible for you to
[13:55]overcome the challenges of this world the second one is El Satan
[14:01]you will be able to defeat Satan you'll overcome the traps ofan
[14:06]and people there are people out there they'll make you tired there
[14:10]are people out there who will drain you from any positive energy
[14:13]there are people out there who are scheming against you sometimes you
[14:17]have people they're jealous of you they don't wish well for you
[14:20]how do you overcome all of that by having these three virtues
[14:26]the first virtue is to truly know and think that everything that
[14:34]you have is from Allah subhana tala and belongs to God I'm
[14:38]just borrowing it not more you're just borrowing the resources from Allah
[14:44]subhanahu wa ta'ala nothing else that is the first virtue the second
[14:49]virtue is not to see yourself as fully in charge Allah is
[14:55]the one who's in charge and the third one is to truly
[15:00]be preoccupied with the commands of Allah subhana wa tala to fulfill
[15:04]them and to avoid sins and among the best deeds in the
[15:07]month in the month of Ramadan is to avoid sins because IM
[15:12]asked the prophet what's the best of deeds in this month the
[15:21]prophet said respect the boundaries that God has put for you respect
[15:28]the laws of Allah subh waala and then the IM in the
[15:36]of further States the fruit of having these three virtues you will
[15:45]not be enslaved to this world running after it always wanting more
[15:49]and to be boastful about it you'll never be enslaved to other
[15:56]people always chasing them and pursuing them and wanting what they have
[16:02]you will have contentment you will not spend what remains of your
[16:09]life in falsehood you'll spend it in Truth this is the first
[16:16]step that takes you to piety then the IM he cites verse
[16:27]83 of Allah states in the Holy Quran you really want a
[16:39]big chunk of the pie in the you want to get there
[16:44]Allah says that I have made it for those who do not
[16:46]seek power in this earth they're not they don't seek arrogance and
[16:54]pride or to spread corruption or to violate the laws of Allah
[16:59]subhah wa tala the is for them God may allow the evil
[17:08]ones to maneuver a little bit in this world but the end
[17:15]is for the the reward is for the pious ones the victory
[17:18]is for the pious ones [Music] n [Music]
