[0:15]tafsir of surat in naz chapter 79 in the quran and this
[0:24]is the surah that comes after surat ahmed or suratul so it
[0:32]is the second surah of the 30 of the quran of the
[0:37]final and last juju of the quran and god willing inshaallah i
[0:43]will be planning on continuing on with the tafsir of the quran
[0:50]completing 30 30 of the quran because it's the last juzo and
[0:59]it is the often read surahs of the quran the shorter surahs
[1:02]they are read more often so this is why i decided on
[1:07]sha allah in this coming year and this is the first session
[1:14]of this new year to continue with this and inshallah we'll see
[1:18]where allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allows us to continue so insha allah
[1:24]we will begin we have just completed surat ahmed tasa alone surah
[1:30]chapter 78 and now we are continuing with surat 79 [Music] [Music]
[2:31][Music] m their main theme are focused on talking about the main
[2:57]issues of religion talking about the belief in god the belief in
[3:02]the day of judgment and we see that a main theme in
[3:07]the surah is the discussion on the day of judgment allah subhanahu
[3:09]wa ta'ala talks about it allah describes it what are the events
[3:15]that will happen using arguments to prove that the day of judgment
[3:18]will happen especially to those who find it difficult to believe that
[3:23]people will be resurrected and come back to life the quran uses
[3:29]that and of course also in the next session when we cover
[3:34]surat nazaat this surah talks about a brief story from the life
[3:40]of prophet musa how allah subhanahu wa ta'ala commanded prophet musa to
[3:44]go and speak to pharaoh and insha'allah we will cover that in
[3:48]the next session now before we go in talking about the importance
[3:54]and the continuing talking about the surah there are some hadith some
[4:00]narrations that talk about the thawab the reward of reciting in a
[4:07]hadith he says [Music] and constantly recites the surah their accountability their
[4:31]hisab on the day of judgment it's going to be very quick
[4:36]as quick as what as quick as one wad of prayer that
[4:40]you pray how long does it take for you to pray it's
[4:47]very short a few minutes meaning that the hisab the accountability on
[4:52]the day of judgment is going to be something very smooth very
[4:57]quick and in another hadith he says he says the one who
[5:16]recites surat and nazaat will not die except their thirst will have
[5:20]been quenched some people when they die they die very thirsty and
[5:23]they can't tell anyone that they're thirsty so he says that when
[5:29]they die they will die with their thirst quenched and when they're
[5:34]resurrected they're going to be quenched meaning they're not going to be
[5:37]thirsty they're not going to be suffering they're not going to be
[5:40]in need and they will not enter into the paradise except they
[5:53]are quenched and here this is see the because the whole surah
[5:59]or a major theme of the surah talks about the day of
[6:02]judgment so when you recite a surah that reminds you of the
[6:07]day of judgment this will help you prepare for the day of
[6:10]judgment and therefore when you prepare for the day of judgment then
[6:13]on the day of judgment you'll be ready you'll be comfortable you'll
[6:18]be satisfied your thirst will be quenched your needs will be met
[6:21]the time on the day of judgement your accountability will not be
[6:26]very long and just as surat and naba the surah before this
[6:28]talked about the day of judgment similarly that surah also has the
[6:35]same reward for example the reward the the the the web of
[6:38]reciting amethyst also recovered is that you're you're going to be quenched
[6:44]with cool water you're going to be quenched with cool water on
[6:50]the day of judgment and the the accountability will also be very
[6:54]quick so now we go on to the beginning of the surah
[6:59]where we see we see there are five oaths meaning he's making
[7:23]a swearing vowing by certain things now we see this is very
[7:29]typical in the quran allah subhanahu wa ta'ala uses qasam many times
[7:33]in the quran many times in the beginning of the surah it
[7:38]starts with washings why does allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in the quran
[7:46]why does allah do an oath god is the most truthful god
[7:50]allah subhanahu wa doesn't lie to us when when we when we
[7:55]we do vows we swear we make oaths to people because people
[8:00]have doubt in what we say so this is why people they
[8:04]have a habit i swear to god when ka'ba people we always
[8:11]do this you swear by god you swear by your mother's life
[8:15]by your father's life by the ka'ba by the quran in some
[8:18]cultures they swear by certain individuals like imam and hussein and certain
[8:23]individuals why do we do qasam why do we do oaths we
[8:29]do oaths because we want people to believe us if you don't
[8:31]believe in what i say at least for the sanctity of the
[8:35]kaaba or if you believe in god if you respect the quran
[8:39]if you respect abel if you respect imam al-hussein and all these
[8:43]individuals if you respect them then believe what i say and if
[8:47]i'm lying then that means i am disrespecting whatever i did an
[8:53]oath on because some people they believe in the signs of god
[8:58]and the cosmos system you see the moon you see the stars
[9:03]you see the you see the planets you see the fruits you
[9:05]see everything in front of you so you're willing to believe in
[9:10]those but you don't believe in god the creator so allah subhanahu
[9:12]wa ta'ala by his creation so that we believe so that we
[9:20]accept the message of the quran this is why allah by the
[9:46]plants by the fruits watini was they tuned and this safe land
[10:02]referring to makkah by the sun and its illuminating light and the
[10:13]moon which follows it yes [Music] and in another verse allah of
[10:39]the by himself by the lord of the says this is the
[10:45]truth just as you are speaking what we are telling you is
[10:50]also the truth so the reason for qasim in the quran is
[10:53]to show the magnitude of what is going to be said and
[10:57]it also shows the magnitude and the importance of the thing that
[11:01]allah subhana ta'ala is swearing by when allah swears by the sun
[11:05]or the olive or the fig or anything that means that is
[11:09]the great creation of allah subhana don't underestimate it you might look
[11:15]at it as something very simple but that thing that you look
[11:18]at as it might be very simple allah subhanahu ta'ala is the
[11:23]creator no one would have been able to create it other than
[11:27]allah so now this is the importance of oaths now allah subhanahu
[11:34]wa ta'ala for five things and we're going to talk about them
[11:40]by those who extract with violence means to extract to take off
[11:49]if someone is taking off their shirt they say or the angel
[11:54]of death when it when something when someone is drowning in the
[12:10]water they call this person meaning this person is drowning so or
[12:14]it also means when you go very deep into something when you're
[12:19]when you delve into something where you're reading a book and you're
[12:24]so into it you're so focused into it they say this person
[12:26]is drowning in the book meaning that you're you've delved all the
[12:29]way in this book so by the ones who extract and they
[12:39]extract all the way meaning that they take everything out meaning that
[12:43]it causes violence it causes pain second one is and by those
[12:54]who remove with ease so there is a binary one is the
[12:59]ones who take out with force and the other is those who
[13:06]take out with ease is a knot that is easily opened when
[13:10]you're able to open a knot when you're able to solve a
[13:14]problem or they say when someone is able to take out water
[13:16]from the well easily they don't have to spend so much time
[13:19]they don't have to go all the way in that's called or
[13:24]when a camel moves easily it's not stubborn they just signal to
[13:29]the camel and it moves this is also referred to in the
[13:34]arabic language and by those who remove with ease so the first
[13:40]is those who remove with difficulty they have to go in all
[13:43]the way and the second is those who remove with ease wasabi
[13:50]and by those who glide as if they are swimming means to
[13:57]swim why is it called because you move smoothly in the water
[14:02]that's called or or if someone is able to float very smoothly
[14:10]they call that or when a horse runs when a horse is
[14:15]you know it's running through the wind they also refer to that
[14:20]as and test be it means to glorify to glorify to exalt
[14:25]allah subhanahu ta'ala when we do tasmiyah we glorify allah so this
[14:30]is a reference to those who quickly and smoothly glorify allah subhanahu
[14:36]wa ta'ala the fourth surah and those who race each other in
[14:47]a race when you when you defeat someone in a race when
[14:49]you are quicker than someone when you do something faster than others
[14:54]that's called sabak so as the sabbath is the one who has
[14:57]defeated others in a race someone who is very quick and those
[15:10]who arrange each matter those who meticulously plan those who organize those
[15:15]who keep the order those are falmouth so now we see that
[15:24]this surah has done five questions what are these five things we
[15:38]mentioned the one that is extracting violently the one that is smoothly
[15:45]extracting the one that goes wasabi the one that is very smooth
[15:49]the one that is quick what for sabrika and the ones who
[15:54]are organizing what are these things here there are several opinions the
[16:02]most popular of these opinions is that this is referring to the
[16:09]angels the angels these are five assams that refer to the actions
[16:13]of the angels because the angels are some of the greatest creation
[16:19]of allah and they carry out very important duties so allah subhanahu
[16:24]wa ta'ala by the angels and the duties that they perform so
[16:30]here allah subhanahu ta'ala says this is the act of extracting the
[16:38]soul of the non-believers who refuse to believe in allah subhanahu ta'alah
[16:42]the angels of allah subhanahu ta'ala they take the soul because allah
[16:47]in the quran describes three categories or three groups that take the
[16:53]soul one is god is the one who takes the soul sometimes
[16:56]sometimes the angel of death and sometimes our angels the angels of
[17:05]death they are the ones who take the soul so here one
[17:10]this is referring to the angels that take the soul of the
[17:15]non-believers because this is referring to a violent referring to a you
[17:20]know one that they delve in all the way and they take
[17:22]everything and then in the second one the ones who remove something
[17:33]with ease and here this is the removal of the soul of
[17:39]the men of the believer their soul will be removed with ease
[17:41]they don't have to go through very difficulties through a lot of
[17:44]difficulties this is why we have many a hadith many narrations that
[17:48]says that death for the kafir for the manafort for the non-believer
[17:53]is very painful agonizing but for the men for the believer death
[17:58]is not going to be very difficult they're going to want to
[18:01]leave they're going to see their reward and their place in the
[18:08]akhirah and they see rasulallah and they added faith the soul says
[18:11]leave me take take me out of this prison and take me
[18:16]to the achara take me to the eternal afterlife so this is
[18:22]talking about those who remove the soul with ease so there's two
[18:27]types of angels ones that rip out the soul they are the
[18:29]nazi and then there are those who take it with ease the
[18:38]ones who glide and swim at ease in obeying the commands of
[18:43]allah subhana tala the angels they obey all of the orders of
[18:48]allah subhana ta'ala very smoothly today you tell some humans god tells
[18:51]you to do this they start making up a million excuses no
[18:54]why is this who said god told me this and they start
[18:57]making up millions of excuses the angels they obey the commands of
[19:01]allah subhanahu ta'ala anything allah orders them they do it right away
[19:07]wasabi those who race to obey the commands and fulfill the orders
[19:16]of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and they are the angels who arrange
[19:23]and keep order and keep the uh matters of creation and they
[19:29]carry out their duties because in another verse we see that allah
[19:32]talks about the angels pushing the clouds the angels carrying out certain
[19:37]things certain duties they carry out certain duties in the creation we
[19:42]don't see the angels we see movements we see things going on
[19:46]allah describes in the quran there are angels that are causing these
[19:52]movements and this order in the universe to carry on another view
[19:58]the second opinion we said the most popular opinion and we will
[20:03]this is the this is the most accepted opinion is the angels
[20:09]however there are other opinions one opinion says this is talking about
[20:12]the stars and the universe and the cosmos system the sun and
[20:16]the moon and the stars and here describing the constant movement beginning
[20:23]from day and night and the constant shift and when they move
[20:28]there as if they're swimming as if they're gliding and they keep
[20:33]the order in the planet they keep the order in the universe
[20:38]a third opinion says it is the mujahideen it is those who
[20:44]struggle in the way of allah those who strive because they strive
[20:49]to follow the commands of allah they are fast they are quick
[20:56]they are sabach in obeying the laws of allah subhanahu ta'ala and
[20:59]they keep the laws of allah but through their jihad they keep
[21:03]their the laws of allah alive through their struggles now some scholars
[21:07]they've come and they try to recon reconcile between all of these
[21:13]opinions and they say that you could technically accept all of them
[21:15]it could be the angels in some part of it it could
[21:17]be the mujahideen and it could be the uh stars and the
[21:24]the planets that allah subhanahu ta'ala has given them their task and
[21:29]their duty to carry out it is very possible that it could
[21:32]be more than one meaning because as we know the quran it's
[21:35]a an eternal book it's a living book the quran is not
[21:41]confined to one meaning if the quran was confined to one meaning
[21:44]then it would be only relevant to those who read the quran
[21:48]1400 years ago but the quran is relevant every day and every
[21:53]time for the end of this life the quran is relevant in
[21:56]our lives so the quran could have more than one meaning however
[22:00]we have to be very careful not to give meanings to the
[22:05]quran if those meanings would contradict other meanings would contradict another message
[22:10]of the quran then we would be falling in the trap of
[22:16]tafsir al-quran giving your own opinion based and that is haram some
[22:19]people have done that and that is one of the greatest acts
[22:25]of sin by giving your own opinion imposing your own opinion on
[22:27]the meaning of the quran however the most widely accepted opinion is
[22:33]that this is referring to the angels and there are several proofs
[22:37]of this one of the main proofs is that the following verses
[22:40]talk about the day of judgment and in this one this is
[22:48]talking about the preparation for the day of judgment where the angels
[22:52]they rip out the soul from the kafir and they take out
[22:57]the soul at ease from the mutman wasabi and they glide and
[23:01]they swim in carrying out the duties that allah has ordered them
[23:07]to perform in order to prepare for the day of judgment and
[23:12]then they run and they they raise to follow the commands of
[23:19]allah subhanahu ta'ala and they they carry out duties on the day
[23:24]of judgement and then the following verse meaning it's talking about the
[23:29]day of judgment so this is the proof that the angels are
[23:33]those who prepare and they take out the soul and they get
[23:35]things going on they blow in the trumpet people die and then
[23:40]they blow again people come back to life and then the day
[23:45]of judgment begins and we have other verses in the quran that
[23:48]show that this is exactly the duties of the angels they carry
[23:52]out the duties that allah subhanahu ta'ala has ordered them to carry
[23:57]out they do not go against the order and the command of
[24:06]allah they follow everything precisely what allah subhanahu ta'ala has ordered them
[24:10]to do and second we have narrations we have narrations from imam
[24:14]ali from the albeit that say that they are the angels that
[24:41]rip out the souls of the kuffar from their bodies with force
[24:46]fiercely they do it just as the one who who is pulling
[24:58]on the arrow they pull it all the way and they make
[25:01]it shoot as far as it can so the angels they take
[25:07]out the the soul they they take out the soul very hard
[25:10]the same way a person pulls on the rope of a bow
[25:16]very hard and very difficult so this is and then we also
[25:21]have other narrations that also describe you know the national thoughts meaning
[25:24]those who take out the the soul from the menin and the
[25:29]sabihat and sabikat and these are all described in the hadith now
[25:35]another one point that is some ask is why is it mentioned
[25:40]in the feminine why is it mentioned in the feminine here this
[25:52]is because the arabic language there are some words in the arabic
[25:55]language that are feminine and there are some words that are masculine
[25:59]so it is it is derived from the word um it's from
[26:10]the word feminine so therefore this is um it's when when you
[26:15]do it in the plural it becomes in the salem meaning that
[26:24]it remains in the feminine pronoun but it um it remains in
[26:32]that um feminine pronoun so it's not saying that the angels are
[26:37]female it's just that's the word that's the that's the style of
[26:40]the arabic language another very important question that some ask is you
[26:44]find the first three verses they say and then the next two
[26:53]say fast why do the first say wow and the and the
[26:59]the first three begin with the wow and and and and the
[27:04]the last two they say here scholars say that the the first
[27:12]three acts they are acts that carry on at one point of
[27:18]time and the second two acts they carry out in the akhira
[27:21]in the afterlife that is an act that comes following the first
[27:30]two so therefore it comes in the in the sense of something
[27:34]after it comes after the first three after the soul is ripped
[27:40]out either from the cather or from the men wasabi that is
[27:44]also something that cares out and then so it's something that comes
[27:49]after therefore allah says that has the fa and the the letter
[27:54]fat which means that it's something that comes after so now what
[27:59]was this why did allah subhanahu ta'ala do this why is allah
[28:09]doing these five questions here the the qasam is about the day
[28:14]of judgment if any of you have difficulty believing in the day
[28:19]of judgment this is a question by allah swearing by the angels
[28:22]that rip out the souls the angels that carry out the duties
[28:28]that rush to to to carry out the duties of allah allah
[28:30]has ordered them and they organize this is all talking about the
[28:36]day of judgment so what is the day of judgment throughout the
[28:39]quran we see there are verses there are bits and pieces that
[28:42]describe the day of judgment now we see starting with verse six
[28:49]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala all the way to 14 allah subhanahu wa
[28:54]ta'ala describes the day of judgment so here there's a description of
[29:01]the day of judgment allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says these are descriptions
[29:31]of the day of judgment and what will happen to people on
[29:35]the day of judgement so verse six yamatari what is this day
[29:40]that we are doing these five questions about it is on the
[29:45]day the blast of the horn will convulse convulse creation it will
[29:49]destroy creation so there is going to be a big blast rajva
[29:56]shaking when someone is shaking they say this person has a rajput
[29:58]so there's going to be a blast that creates a shaking an
[30:03]earthquake describes it in other verses in the quran there's going to
[30:15]be a blast of shaking then it's going to be followed by
[30:18]another similar shaking an act that something that follows another thing and
[30:33]it is similar to it so they are parallel to one another
[30:35]so there's going to be one blast one sound that shakes the
[30:41]earth and then the radiifa it's going to come after it and
[30:43]it's going to be similar in power and magnitude to it so
[30:48]imagine there's an earthquake and then there's another earthquake an aftershock that
[30:52]is similar to it they call the aftershock or they refer to
[30:56]a horse two horsemen riding on the same horse the one on
[31:01]the back they say radiif meaning the one he is he's equivalent
[31:04]they are equivalent to one another so they're parallel to one another
[31:10]and allah talks about this this is the blowing in the trumpet
[31:15]where there is going to be one blow that everyone will die
[31:20]and the angel of death israel will blow in the in the
[31:23]horn in the trumpet everyone will die and then there's going to
[31:26]be another one who knows how long after similar magnitude everyone will
[31:34]come back to life allah talks about this foreign so what will
[31:58]happen what will happen now the after the second one people come
[32:02]back to life people are resurrecting from their graves people have been
[32:09]sleeping in this grave for thousands millions billions of years who knows
[32:14]how long now they are ordered to get up from their grave
[32:18]and here when they are ordered to get up allah describes that
[32:28]the hearts on that day will tremble and this is a description
[32:33]of the non-believer why are they going to tremble because their whole
[32:39]life they were living as if there's no accountability as if there's
[32:42]no hassab as if there's no day of judgment now suddenly you
[32:45]tell them okay get up you're going to be you're going to
[32:49]be held accountable for everything that you did isn't that going to
[32:55]create fear isn't that going to change your face their eyes will
[33:05]be lowered and humbled and you could see the fear in their
[33:11]eyes the kafir when they're told okay after all of that you
[33:14]did the murder the crime the stealing everything that you did now
[33:17]you're going to be held accountable that day they're going to be
[33:21]afraid maybe in this life they walk with their head raised they
[33:25]walk so proud as if they have full power and full control
[33:29]of everything that day is the day of humility they are presently
[33:39]saying they're going to say will we indeed be returned to our
[33:43]former state of life we're going to go back to that life
[33:46]meaning that we're going to be held accountable we were dead we
[33:52]have we have turned into and to dust nothing is left from
[33:55]us our bones have turned into dust now we're going back and
[33:59]here hafela it refers to going back back to your tracks and
[34:06]held accountable for your tracks because the halfer it is the the
[34:11]hoof of the horse when the horse steps on the ground it
[34:14]leaves its track so it's as if they're saying we're going to
[34:17]go back to our tracks we're going to be held accountable for
[34:21]everything that we did we're going to be taken back in our
[34:29]former state they say if we were even if we were decaying
[34:41]bones we're decaying bones nothing is left from us we're still going
[34:47]to go back and then they'll the angels and they'll see that
[34:51]yes they are going back so what what did they say this
[34:58]is indeed indeed this is a losing return because now you have
[35:04]to go back and you have to pay the price for everything
[35:07]that you did wrong you're going to be held accountable for it
[35:10]so they say this is a losing return so allah subhanahu wa
[35:21]ta'ala describes that the day of judgment is a day of regret
[35:24]they're going to say let me go back they're going to say
[35:29]only if i was to soil yet allah describes where the cathode
[35:41]is going to say only if i was soil why do i
[35:43]have to come back i wish i was soil that was stepped
[35:48]on instead of living and walking arrogantly on the soil but then
[35:56]held accountable for every bad act that i did and then the
[36:00]answer comes to them that this is one act it's not difficult
[36:04]for allah you think it's difficult for allah to bring people back
[36:08]to life allah is the original creator allah and suddenly they will
[36:25]be alert upon the earth's surface what is sahara sahar or sahara
[36:32]is exhaustion unable to sleep unable to rest they call that sahar
[36:37]when someone that's why they say sahara when you stay out late
[36:41]they call that a sarah so allah describes that once they wake
[36:46]up from their grave they're going to be in the sahara because
[36:49]of the exhaustion because of the pain because they're unable to rest
[36:54]from what they have just experienced another meaning for sahara they say
[37:00]the the arabs would refer to the desert as sahara why because
[37:04]the desert would bring fear it would bring distress and anxiety to
[37:08]them because it's a dangerous place if there's no water it's a
[37:13]dangerous place it's huge and they would call the desert so similarly
[37:21]allah subhanahu ta'ala describes that now people are in the sahara after
[37:27]they wake up from their death from the dead and they're resurrected
[37:31]now they're going to be held accountable so now they're in the
[37:34]sahara it's as if they're in a difficult place something as bad
[37:39]as difficult as a desert so allah says now the next set
[37:50]of verses move on to talk about um to talk about musa
[37:56]the story of musa hadith we will leave that for the next
[37:59]session we ask allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to bless you all and
[38:03]we ask allah to illuminate our hearts and our minds with the
[38:10]quran and with the message of the quran and make us from
[38:12]those who recite the quran those who understand the quran those who
[38:15]spend time and dedicate a portion of our lives our days our
[38:20]24 hours dedicating a portion to the quran we ask allah subhanahu
[38:26]wa ta'ala to make us from those who are with the quran
[38:30]was foreign
