[0:00]smilla rahmanir rahim al-hamdu lillahi rabbil alameen wa sallahu wa salam o
[0:05]allah al anbiya wa l-mursalin Habib Allah al al-amin a bell Casa
[0:15]miel Mustafa Muhammad voila le bateau Hibino terrine levena habala an Homer
[0:22]would say what the Haram Tutera welcome to the class of Quranic
[0:27]themes and principles two years ago we began a class on Quranic
[0:32]sciences that class taught us about the Quran general information regarding the
[0:40]Quran the exact the ayat the NASA demand saw and the difference
[0:46]between ends al and tanzeel how the verses were revealed and how
[0:52]long did it take for the verses to be revealed and the
[0:55]mirror the miraculous elements of the Quran in the last semester last
[1:03]year we began a course called intro to tafseer this course gave
[1:10]us information on the Parana k-- x addresses how does the tafseer
[1:15]work history of tafseer the various types of quranic tafseer there are
[1:22]several types of tafseer there are valid tafseer tafseer that is accepted
[1:26]and tafseer that is haram tafseer that's wrong one of those that
[1:32]is not accepted as tafseer but ye opinion-based FCO so several of
[1:36]the students they asked us to do a class where we actually
[1:41]do Tufts here instead of talking about the sciences and the study
[1:45]of tafseer they wanted a class on doing tafseer of the Quran
[1:48]so that we could understand the Quran so I decided to do
[1:55]this class where it's a type of tafseer it's of Seir mode
[1:58]or a subjective tafseer where we will be taking themes and principles
[2:02]from the Quran major themes and principles ideas in the Quran and
[2:09]we will be able to summarize the Quran at the end of
[2:11]this course if someone asks you today tell me about the Quran
[2:17]what does your book talk about it's very difficult to come and
[2:20]summarize the Quran in one session because the Quran is 114 chapters
[2:24]the Quran was revealed over 23 years so it's very difficult to
[2:31]come and summarize the Quran but we need to be able to
[2:34]at least take a gist of the Quran to understand the major
[2:39]principles and themes of the Quran if we do understand that it
[2:42]will help us it will help us understand our religion our principles
[2:46]and it will help us teach others and we will be able
[2:52]to know what is the major you know message of the book
[2:55]of the Quran the major messages of Islam and what are other
[3:02]secondary issues so as we know the Quran is a book of
[3:04]guidance Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala talks about it in the Quran in
[3:12]chapter 10 verse 57 ya johannes but giacomo ever tamela become oh
[3:16]people a johannes sometimes the quran is speaking to the manin to
[3:21]them to the believers sometimes to the muslims sometimes to people in
[3:24]general whether you're a Muslim or non-muslim this is a book that's
[3:31]for you yeah you are nice but come more virtualmin Rob become
[3:36]an admonishment has come to you from your Lord what she found
[3:40]unlimited or any source of healing for what's in the heart it's
[3:46]a source of healing for physical ailments and sicknesses and for the
[3:53]spiritual diseases the Quran is a source of healing warden what I
[3:59]mentioned in minene and it's a hooda it's a guidance and a
[4:03]Rhema a source of a source of Mercy for the meaning so
[4:10]the Quran is a book of guidance the quran is a miracle
[4:14]it's the it's the miracle of islam if someone asks you what's
[4:21]the miracle of Prophet ISA Jesus Jesus he used to raise the
[4:25]dead he used to heal the sick what's the miracle of Prophet
[4:31]Musa what are some miracles of Prophet Musa he split the sea
[4:35]his stick his hand he would bring it out as white now
[4:40]what's the miracle of Rasulullah sallallahu alehiwassallaam if someone comes and asks
[4:46]you show me the miracle of Jesus can you show them the
[4:50]miracle of Jesus today can you show them the miracle of Moses
[4:52]and Noah and all the other prophets but if someone asks you
[4:57]show me the miracle of Prophet Muhammad can you you bring out
[5:00]the Quran so it's a living miracle that is amongst us and
[5:07]the Quran is very relevant in our lives it's a source of
[5:11]answers it's an inspiration it provides solutions in a hadith from Imam
[5:15]Sadiq alayhi Salam he talks about the Quran using a metaphor he
[5:22]says look at AJ la la la gente he faecal ami well
[5:29]I can only observe the Imam Ali Salaam he says if you
[5:31]want to see God can you see God can anyone see allah
[5:35]subhanaw taala it's impossible to see allah subhanaw taala so the imam
[5:39]is using this hadith as a metaphor he says look at AJ
[5:43]la la la' healthy Fe Kalam Allah subhana WA Ta'ala is embodied
[5:48]or manifested and through through what through the Quran so if you
[5:53]want to see God if you want to get to know God
[5:57]if you want a clear image of God you go to the
[6:01]Kalam you go to the words of Allah subhana Allah - the
[6:05]Quran and then the Imam Ali said I mean he says well
[6:07]like in the home layups alone however people they do not see
[6:12]their eyes are limited their eyes do not see in another hadith
[6:15]the Imam Ali said I'm and I'm sad that he says in
[6:20]Allah hands LFL Quran see beyond a cliche he says Allah subhana
[6:24]WA Ta'ala revealed in the Quran an explanation for everything everything Allah
[6:31]subhana Allah has explained it in the Quran hot towel hot towel
[6:37]ah matter occasion yeah la la banana holiness Allah did not leave
[6:43]a single thing that people are in need of that Allah did
[6:49]not explain it in the Quran the Quran has solutions for everything
[6:52]however as we explained in last semester and the semester before especially
[6:58]in last semester the Quran yes it has all the answers but
[7:02]do I have access to all of those answers not really I
[7:08]need to have the proper methodology the proper approach to the Quran
[7:14]so that I take the correct exegesis of the Quran the corrective
[7:17]serum the Quran otherwise if I take the wrong tough seer of
[7:22]the Quran the wrong exegesis of the Quran am I going to
[7:26]have the answers no I'm going to probably have a total opposite
[7:30]effect I'm going to go astray further away from allah subhanaw taala
[7:34]so this is what the Quran is it's a source of answers
[7:41]it's a guidance it's a miracle it has all the answers how
[7:45]do we treat the Quran today this today is an intro topic
[7:48]so that we go into the Quran and we actually appreciate this
[7:54]book of allah subhanaw taala how do many treat the Quran for
[7:58]some they have no connection whatsoever with the Quran the Quran has
[8:02]nothing to do with their lives sha Allah we're not from that
[8:08]group there's another category you see them they read the Quran they
[8:13]read the Quran very well but they only read it like a
[8:15]parent not deriving anything not understanding not thinking not pondering about the
[8:24]Quran and the message of the Quran after all a loss of
[8:29]Hannah to Allah revealed the Quran for a reason right is it
[8:31]just so I you know listen to it being recited in a
[8:36]very beautiful voice or I hear the Quran and I read it
[8:38]without understanding no the Quran is the message it's a it's a
[8:45]message from Allah subhana WA Ta'ala to us so I have to
[8:47]try to take this message and try to understand this message so
[8:52]there are some who don't have any connection with it there are
[8:55]some who just read it without understanding there's another category a third
[8:59]category that chooses bits and pieces from the Quran and the loss
[9:05]of high note Allah speaks about this category Allah says in the
[9:09]Quran monona be battle kitab what's a what's a corona be buff
[9:15]you believe and you accept parts of the book and you reject
[9:18]other parts of the book this is also wrong and then there's
[9:24]the fourth category and that is the group that not only recites
[9:29]the Quran but understands the Quran and implements the orders of the
[9:34]Quran and this is the category that gives the Quran its haqq
[9:38]gives the Quran the rights that it deserves after all the Quran
[9:43]has rights it has a hug upon me it's the words of
[9:45]allah subhanaw taala and the quran has a hack upon me so
[9:52]I have to make sure that I am giving the Quran it's
[9:55]right first reading the Quran reading the Quran is a very important
[10:01]task that we have as Muslims Allah subhana Allah has ordered us
[10:08]to recite the Quran Allah says in the Quran Farah Oh Matias
[10:12]Solomon al-quran try to recite as much as you can from the
[10:19]Quran this is an order from allah subhanaw taala we are required
[10:23]to recite the Quran and in a hadith from rasulullah sallallahu alayhi
[10:28]wa s manthara ashley i Aten feel a la la MOOC Tubman
[10:32]Allah Faline the person who recites 10 vs 10 verses surat al
[10:40]fatiha has seven verses so if a person recites ten verses of
[10:43]the Quran he will this person on that night will not be
[10:49]written down from the gasoline those who are unaware those who are
[10:52]just you know some of us were in a Delaware and it
[10:56]states of being unaware states of intoxication basically wom'n para sham sinaia
[11:02]kuta berminat vaccine and the one who recite 50 verses he will
[11:08]be written down that day from those who remember allah subhanaw taala
[11:13]kaibaman added a korean woman para mi @ CI a-- cootie berman
[11:17]l-carnitine the one who recites a hundred verses is written from those
[11:25]who supplicates from Innokin 18 when we do pollute the Scott pollute
[11:28]those who pray those who are devoted to allah subhanaw taala woman
[11:32]gotta emit a aiya cootie Berman Al kasha ain those who recite
[11:40]200 verses are written down as those who have no sure who
[11:44]have humility and humbleness towards allah subhanaw taala woman cara flf me
[11:51]at CI a-- cootie berman alpha is een and this is the
[11:56]end of the hadith the Imam says and the one who recites
[11:58]three hundred verses is written down from those who are victorious when
[12:03]rasulallah says someone is victorious that person is truly victorious in another
[12:10]hadith imam sadiq ali salam now someone might ask what is the
[12:14]minimum what is the minimum that I am required to recite of
[12:19]course it's not what if you couldn't and technically when you do
[12:23]your prayer you are reciting some some of the verses of the
[12:28]Quran but there is a requirement for the manin for the believers
[12:30]if you're trying to you know do something fill out you know
[12:36]make sure you're doing something good the Imam Ali Salaam he says
[12:41]al Quran Allah Allah Schalke circadian bar-hillel maher is Muslim and younger
[12:49]Fahad the Quran is the message of God to his people so
[12:55]it is an obligation upon people to see what God's message is
[12:58]to them and then he says when you come in who fee
[13:03]could Lyon come sinaia so according to him I'm sorry a Salaam
[13:07]the minimum if you want to receive the reward of reciting the
[13:14]Quran try to recite 50 verses a day it's not difficult 50
[13:16]verses is sometimes you know two three pages you could have you
[13:22]could have it be you could be listening to it and you
[13:24]recite because there's a table of listening there's a steamer al-quran and
[13:28]then there's reading of the Quran so if you're in the car
[13:33]you're listening to the Quran you get so up on its own
[13:36]of listening to the Quran but if you want the lab of
[13:39]recitation and reading the Quran your eyes have to be on the
[13:43]Quran you have to be looking at the Quran and try listening
[13:45]at the same time so that you you know you learn how
[13:53]to read better yes rather reciting while listening that has its own
[13:58]throw up but there is an action there's a table of looking
[14:00]at the Quran so each each one of those acts reciting has
[14:06]a toe up listening has a thumb up and looking at the
[14:09]Quran has throw up so if you want the ultimate throw up
[14:13]you also look at the Quran as well looking at the Quran
[14:15]there you know there's narrations on another Quran just just looking at
[14:23]the Quran that in itself as though like there's Heidi if it
[14:26]says looking at the Kaaba for example just looking at the cat
[14:28]but that gives you fill up looking at the face of the
[14:33]island a real island someone who's you know a pious item will
[14:36]remind you of allah subhanaw taala you look at them that is
[14:42]also to own fill up so so um looking at the Quran
[14:48]is its type has its its own throw up so this is
[14:50]one reading the Quran that one of the obligations second we have
[14:56]to understand the Quran a lot of people read the Quran but
[15:01]they don't understand the Quran you know it is said that the
[15:03]Abdul Rahman urban Muslim the man who struck Imam Ali RA salam
[15:11]on the head he used to be one of the quran teachers
[15:17]he used to he used to recite Quran and teach people how
[15:21]to recite the Quran but this here it it's very important that
[15:26]I'm not just the person who is reciting the Quran I have
[15:30]to try to comprehend and understand Quran there are many people who
[15:36]recite the Quran but they're very far away from the Quran so
[15:38]here in a hadith Imam Ali alehissalaam he talks about the meaning
[15:42]he describes the believers he says a and was film on top
[15:50]in describing the pious the matzah pain he says amal a facade
[15:53]funa dhamma home Ty Lee nearly exact in Quran he says as
[16:00]for the night there standing in the mob praying and reciting a
[16:07]jaw of the Quran someone tells me to recite a page I
[16:12]say oh that so much here the Imam Ali said I'm he
[16:15]says talena adds on Quran the reading juices of the Quran in
[16:18]the middle of the night tylenol eh al-quran uric - luna hat
[16:23]or Tila and it's must have to do tur teeth to recite
[16:25]it in the proper way that's why there's such weed and thirteen
[16:31]discernment this is some people think that tej weed and 13 is
[16:33]just reciting in a nice voice it's not just about the voice
[16:38]turtle and to eat means that I'm reciting the Quran in the
[16:41]correct fashion in the correct way because sometimes if you don't recite
[16:45]it correctly the meanings gonna change yes / it's kind of the
[16:50]quicker one as 13 is the quicker one but 13 it means
[16:57]it's also sad weed and 13 more importantly than the voice and
[17:00]the way you're reciting it is you're you're following the rules of
[17:03]the Quran you know where to stop you know where to do
[17:07]the mad to stretch the word where to you know pause where
[17:09]to not pause some places you can't pause if you pause then
[17:14]the meaning is going to change you know for example if simple
[17:20]something as simple as la la la la if someone just says
[17:23]not enough and doesn't finish it what are they going to be
[17:29]doing they're saying there's no God this is cool so some places
[17:33]you can't stop some places you have to stop so because the
[17:36]meanings change so so you have to be very careful and this
[17:42]is what the rules of 15 and said we'd do so the
[17:44]amount of salami yah - Luna ha tortilla ya soon Johanna be
[17:51]enforcer home way a step Sharona be he though I am and
[17:57]then he says they try to understand and then he says father
[18:01]tomorrow be ayats in fee ha - we ik raka no la
[18:06]ha ha man if they pass by a verse that's talking about
[18:10]paradise and it's you know encouraging them to do good they'll be
[18:15]encouraged they'll be energized and then he says what's up what's up
[18:19]lo Boniface at home la Hache open well done no and honest
[18:23]why you know they'll see that the heaven is right by their
[18:26]eyes way tomorrow will be ayat and feeha - we've asked alayha
[18:29]Masami a Colombian and they passed by a verse that's frightening talking
[18:35]about the day of judgement talking about that they're paying attention well
[18:39]one know Ana Sofia Jahannam was Shaheed kaha vo slowly odd on
[18:46]him they will read recite the Quran and they will understand it
[18:49]and ponder about it in a way where they will be as
[18:54]if they're hearing the roars of Jahannam the roars of the Hellfire
[18:57]this is how the Imam Ali Saddam describes the meaning who actually
[19:01]comprehend and understand and contemplate the Quran because we're required to contemplate
[19:07]Allah says in the universe FLI Yetta Brunelle Quran Allah who Lubin
[19:12]ik fedora do they not ponder the spur on was not just
[19:16]sent so you recited in a beautiful voice you have to try
[19:19]to ponder and as we explained in the previous semester pondering the
[19:24]Quran and contemplating the Quran has its methodology has its approach and
[19:28]the correct approach is you take it from the a debate on
[19:32]himself from Rasul Allah and the a debate they are the interpreters
[19:36]of the Quran third weight so in order to give the Quran
[19:42]its hop you read second you contemplate and third you implement your
[19:46]implement using the Quran as a blueprint in your life how many
[19:49]of us actually follow and try to you know take lessons from
[19:54]the Quran so if I want to do this if I want
[19:58]to give the Quran it's hot I need recite the Quran I
[20:01]need to understand the Quran and I need to implement it but
[20:03]how do i implement it I need to have the correct exegesis
[20:07]I need to have the correct steps here I need to have
[20:13]the correct understanding now Muslims for 1,400 years for over 1,400 years
[20:19]they have been trying to understand the Quran ever since the Quran
[20:23]was revealed during the life of rasulullah Muslims were trying to understand
[20:28]the Quran and contemplate and trying to derive messages from the Quran
[20:34]take the exit extract the exigencies of the Quran some have failed
[20:39]miserably and some have been very successful so we explain just a
[20:44]recap a little bit of you know the history of tafseer the
[20:49]history of Quranic exegesis who is the first know faster of the
[20:55]Quran it was covered in the class last semester the first mephesto
[21:03]of the grounds very easy don't go too far before I leave
[21:11]who's the recited the Quran rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam LA hear the
[21:18]Quran came he recited the Quran and he would explain the Quran
[21:22]he would do to have seal of the Quran so he is
[21:27]he is considered to be the first Mufasa of the Quran the
[21:30]first individual who explained the quran and rasulullah was ordered to explain
[21:36]the Quran and he explained it in several ways we have two
[21:43]different types of tafseer we have a tafseer called tafseer bill math
[21:49]or and tafseer bill mccool there is the narrative tafseer this is
[21:56]the first category of tafseer the narrative tafseer and the second is
[22:00]the reason based of seer so if you take all of the
[22:05]different types of exegesis of the quran that we have you have
[22:09]two different types you have the narrative and you have the and
[22:13]based FCO now under the narrative tafseer there's two categories the first
[22:19]is the tafseer that rasoolallah practiced the most and this was the
[22:23]tafseer the first half seer that we studied about and we heard
[22:30]about and this is referred to as chef cyril quran bill quran
[22:34]what does that mean - general kahlenberge Quran yes so you understand
[22:42]a verse in the Quran using what using another verse because the
[22:49]Quran explains itself the Quran is all from one it came from
[22:51]one source so what does that mean that means there's no contradictions
[22:54]that means one one verse here it completes and it finishes the
[23:01]meaning and it helps us understand a meaning of another verse so
[23:03]a sort of loss sometimes he used to do to fiddle Quran
[23:06]but Quran a verse is revealed they tell him what's the meaning
[23:10]of this verse he comes and he uses another verse to explain
[23:13]the meaning of this verse this is something that we have we
[23:19]will learn inshallah and we will be practicing and in this in
[23:22]this class because we don't want to take the themes of the
[23:26]Quran and the principles of the Quran do I give any verse
[23:30]the same weight as another verse for example I hear a verse
[23:37]one verse says when you see the Kafar hit them strike them
[23:41]and then there's another verse that comes and for example talks about
[23:45]there is no compulsion in religion do these verses carry the same
[23:50]weight yes yes but what I'm trying to say exactly what you're
[24:08]saying is true but what I'm trying to say is there are
[24:12]some verses that are referred to as ohm Wolcott AB they are
[24:15]the mother of the book according to the Quran they these are
[24:19]the these are the verses that carry weights they are the foundation
[24:24]of the book and then there are secondary verses so there are
[24:28]primary verses and secondary verses I will interpret the secondary verses using
[24:33]the foundation of the primary verses for example I'll give you another
[24:37]example a verse it says yet the law folk ID him we
[24:41]gave this example last semester in the semester before God's hand is
[24:45]above their hand does God have a hand can I say the
[24:51]Quran says God has a hand that means God has a hand
[24:53]no why not because I have to go back to a primary
[24:59]verse a verse that carries much more weight it's a principle it's
[25:04]a theme it's a foundation of the Quran that says LASIK empathy
[25:09]shade there's nothing that resembles allah subhanaw taala the verse that says
[25:13]there's nothing that resembles allah carries more weight it's it's considered from
[25:19]humble kitab it carries more weight than a verse that says you
[25:24]had to lie folk ID him so what do I have to
[25:26]do I come and I understand the verse that says you had
[25:28]to life okay ID him the hand of God I come and
[25:31]I say no this is a metaphor this is not saying God
[25:33]literally has a hand because another verse which is the foundation of
[25:40]the book that is the verse that says God nothing resembles allah
[25:45]subhanaw taala is it clear so here we need to understand the
[25:50]difference between the verses some of a serene they came and they
[25:54]looked at the verses all the same one of the things that
[25:59]Santa Fe's do today they come and they take a literal their
[26:01]literalist meaning that they take a literal meaning of the quran so
[26:07]if the quran says the hand of god they say yeah god
[26:08]has a hand the face of God God has a face they
[26:11]come and they they'll take everything literally where you can't do that
[26:17]because then you're going to be contradicting other verses in the Quran
[26:20]and the problem is people Muslims throughout 1400 years they've fallen in
[26:25]this error why because they did not take the Quran the exegesis
[26:31]and the tafseer of the Quran from the right sources the tafseer
[26:34]of the Quran was not taken from the right sources so as
[26:39]we were saying there's tafseer the narrative tafseer tfz urban myth or
[26:43]and their stuff see urban Maqbool two categories of tafseer fall under
[26:48]tafseer wilmuth or this is from a recap from last semester one
[26:52]stuff Cyril Koran bill Quran this is a narrative tafseer how is
[26:59]that a narrative tafseer because of a soul Allah he came and
[27:03]he said this verse clarifies this verse how did this hadith come
[27:07]to me through a narration it came to me through a hadith
[27:14]so it's step serum Quran the Quran but it came to me
[27:15]through a narration that's why it falls under the category of narrative
[27:22]subsea and the second narrative tafseera is the tafseer of hadith no
[27:25]sort of law Imam and barter and I'm sad that Imam Ali
[27:28]they come and they say this verse means this this is a
[27:33]narrative tafseer of 0ye ortf ciara hadith this is one type of
[27:36]tafseer sometimes some things can go wrong with this one as well
[27:41]it might be a weak narration it might be a fabricated narration
[27:44]it might be someone who lied and said you know we heard
[27:49]or saw Allah he said that this verse is talking about such-and-such
[27:52]and it the person that the person was a liar so that
[27:55]is also one of the reasons why we have some problems sometimes
[28:00]now the second type of tafseer is the reason based of seer
[28:04]and that is the scientific tafseer' the elusive tafseer the ideological tafseer
[28:09]the fit heats of sea or the you know any anyone wants
[28:15]to come and talk about a subject for example I want to
[28:18]talk about psychology and I want to find a verse in the
[28:22]Quran that match with the subject of psychology there's a you're using
[28:24]you're not taking it from a thief from the profit or from
[28:29]the amount you're doing your own analysis sometimes it's accepted sometimes it's
[28:32]not accepted sometimes it falls in the category of tafseer but ye
[28:45]opinion-based of zero and that's haram yes yes so the the most
[28:48]accurate subset of the Quran is the Quran that with the tafseer
[28:54]that we take from the idol baton am salam their narrative or
[28:58]plantiffs I remember Quran which also falls under under narrative there is
[29:03]a type of narrative and now before we used to have for
[29:11]example in these genres and you know hundreds of years ago there
[29:14]was a book on Tufts in Oakland Oakland there are some genres
[29:17]that are only hadith based stuffs here now in the last you
[29:22]know couple hundred years the Shia scholars they've given us a comprehensive
[29:26]tafseer for example tafseera use ant of ceará and fell tough year
[29:30]these known to fast year their their comprehensive Tufts ears meaning that
[29:36]they take a little bit of narrative a little bit of Quran
[29:40]but Quran had using hadith to understand the Quran they come and
[29:43]they give sometimes they give their own analysis as long as it
[29:47]doesn't you know go very far away from the meaning of the
[29:57]Quran no you do you do stick with it but sometimes we
[30:04]don't have a narration for some verses and sometimes some scholars they've
[30:10]come in they've come and they've tried to explain so for example
[30:15]you know you don't find a hadith that explains everything in the
[30:20]way that you need to understand at this particular time so some
[30:23]these scholars they've come and they've written a page explaining what how
[30:27]do you know how to explain that there's no contradiction in the
[30:32]Quran where where does this verse fall where does that verse fall
[30:34]so sometimes you do reason after all allah subhanaw taala brought down
[30:38]thus quran for us so that we ponder and we think we're
[30:41]allowed to ponder and think as long as we don't go overboard
[30:43]and we start giving our own opinion regarding what allah intended in
[30:47]this verse you see what I mean yes so many Muslims have
[30:54]tried to interpret the Quran and there are many types of safar
[30:57]seer there are so she a lot sociological tafseer psychological tafseer there's
[31:02]tough seer on the stories of the quran illusive and mystical tafseer
[31:08]many non-muslims have tried to do tough sear some non-muslims they've came
[31:14]Orientalists you know around over a hundred years ago many orientalists were
[31:19]very you know fascinated with the quran and the the works of
[31:24]most muslims one of the some of them their purpose was to
[31:30]come and say no this man muhammad he wasn't even a prophet
[31:32]and he was his false prophet some their aim was to come
[31:37]and see how you know the quran resembles the proud the quran
[31:40]resembles the taurat and the injeel and other books some they tried
[31:44]to refute the Quran they all had their own their own agenda
[31:51]now we need to understand that the Quran cannot be just understood
[31:56]very easily you can't just read the Quran and try to understand
[32:01]the Quran you know many times I tell non-muslims they tell me
[32:05]I read the Quran yes reading the Quran is good however if
[32:12]you read the Quran by itself without a book or something that
[32:16]is a commentary something that explains the Quran you're probably going to
[32:20]end up making false assumptions and false conclusions you can't just come
[32:25]and read the Quran and try to derive exactly what a loss
[32:29]of high note on I wanted to tell you because the Quran
[32:32]has various levels there's arm there's general verses there's specific verses there's
[32:39]verses that are you know intended for a specific event there are
[32:43]verses that are intended for its setting down a general rule so
[32:48]you have to be very careful how to understand the Quran and
[32:53]this is the verse that talks about how we have to be
[32:55]how you have to be very careful when taking the Quran Allah
[33:00]says in the Quran who Alevi angelic al-kitab men who ayat on
[33:04]mahkumat Homolka table this is an ally Mehran Allah says in the
[33:10]Quran Allah he is the one who revealed down the book the
[33:13]kitab upon you in it are ayat and mahkumat and it are
[33:19]verses that are the foundation of the book the principles Homolka table
[33:23]they are the mother of the book meaning that they are what
[33:26]carry and embody the the overall message of the book well Carol
[33:31]mutashabiha had and there are other verses that are ambiguous there are
[33:35]other verses that are not so clear and then Allah says in
[33:39]the Quran family in a few columns even those who have diseases
[33:42]in their hearts Fayetteville una muchacha de Herman Haupt Agha and fitna
[33:49]whoops ahah a two-wheeler and those who have diseases in their hearts
[33:53]they follow it to bring fitna to cause problems in society to
[34:00]bring people a way to bring people astray and to give their
[34:02]own tafseer what and then and then hope tada tada wila and
[34:09]then allah says one ayah allah moosa widow who allah ma were
[34:14]rush to hornoff an end and no one knows the true interpretation
[34:17]of the Quran except Allah and there are sunnah film and those
[34:24]who have been given the knowledge those who understand the quran who
[34:28]are the raster hornoff alone they are held battalion Salam they are
[34:33]the ones who understand the Quran of course now the way I'm
[34:38]reciting it like this there are some Muslims they'll come and they'll
[34:41]say you're reciting it wrong build because I recited it this is
[34:45]how I recited it just pay attention one ayah Allah Moussaoui Allahu
[34:49]Allah what rasta hornoff alone and no one knows that atween the
[34:55]true interpretation except Allah and that is wonderful and what some reciters
[34:59]of the Quran they say this is how they recited what my
[35:01]Kalamata Willa ho and Lala and then they take a pause and
[35:06]then they come and they say what Raza Hoonah film Yakko Luna
[35:10]Amon Baer Kulemin and the Robina it changes it it kind of
[35:17]changes it however because we have narrations from the acid battalion Salaam
[35:21]we have a hadith from the added weight that say we are
[35:26]the NASA who Natasha who nephila we are the ones that have
[35:29]been given the knowledge we are the ones that Allah subhana Allah
[35:31]endowed us with this knowledge of the Quran so we recited like
[35:37]this so you could recite it both ways there there's different types
[35:42]of recitation but this is one type of recitation and this the
[35:45]meaning is that the rice is gonna fill and are the added
[35:51]baton are they home Sara is that clear why was this verse
[35:53]revealed there are two you know because we're doing more to fear
[35:56]this in this class and one in one hadith it says that
[36:00]some of the some of the Jews during the time of the
[36:04]Prophet and this is this is mentioned in a hadith from from
[36:08]North Sakhalin from a mammoth back on the book North Sakhalin is
[36:16]a tafseera ye it's a tough sear that's all a hadith so
[36:19]there's no talking unit it begins on a marker palisade up regarding
[36:23]this verse in that verse not every single verse has a hadith
[36:28]but this is a book that is sub 0 Y so if
[36:31]you see this name Neurath Sakhalin the light of the Lane chatelaine
[36:35]or what are the Sakhalin the Prophet left the Lane for us
[36:40]what are the Sakhalin the Quran and the Alan Bates so this
[36:44]is the light of the fact Elaine because why because it's the
[36:47]Quran and the eyelid weight they're the ones who are interpreting the
[36:51]Quran so he says nakulan and kitab maniilaq bar hadith Allah mammal
[36:56]Morales sallam he talks about the tafseer of this verse he says
[36:59]and enough remain earlier hood one-armed Hiab knocked up some of the
[37:04]Jews they came and with them was Hiab knocked up he was
[37:07]one of those who who was always you know harassing the Prophet
[37:11]he came and huija oh allah rasool allah sallallahu alehiwassallaam will fulfill
[37:18]Mutapa they came and they taught the Prophet your Quran it says
[37:22]Alif LAAM Meem they came and they used this Alif LAAM Meem
[37:25]walk i loo be Mujib possible who fill up judea fennel and
[37:30]the philosophy of judea to say we alwa had well lamb to
[37:34]say with Allison will you mean to sound urbane so what they
[37:36]did they came in in the Arabic language I don't know if
[37:40]the English language has this each letter signifies a number the the
[37:48]the English the English I don't know if the English language has
[37:52]but in the Arabic for example what do they say it's a
[37:57]different way okay for example what's the number of Imam Ali everyone
[38:04]knows this right 110 okay I guess I only what's the number
[38:10]what signifies bismillah ar-rahman ar-rahim 786 786 because you come and you
[38:18]add the bar and the scene and the meme and you each
[38:25]letter has a number I don't I don't think it's in English
[38:31]so in the Arabic language it's much there you know now I'm
[38:42]not sure about that all I know is that each letter has
[38:56]a number so they came they came and they said that Alif
[38:58]LAAM Meem from surat al-baqara you know when you begin Alif LAAM
[39:05]Meem they came and they told him that the car do the
[39:07]muchacabra philip gdfn Elif Phil hisab I objected to Sawa the LF
[39:12]equals one when lamb to sow with Allison del L LF lamb
[39:16]it's equal to 30 and the meme it's equal to 40 and
[39:21]then they said well bajada and the ferrets baka matriculate Aziz Allah
[39:25]add our sub in sana they came and they tell him your
[39:30]oma is your nation your message is only going to survive for
[39:33]71 years they they just came and I don't know where they
[39:36]got this from they came and they used NF Lam Meem and
[39:39]they said this is what it means so the Prophet is the
[39:44]prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ala he tells them what about and if
[39:46]Lam Meem don't look at and if Li I mean by itself
[39:49]go and look at Alif LAAM Meem sod Alif LAAM bra and
[39:53]calf ha yeah I in sod go and look at all of
[39:57]that and then do the calculation why are you just looking at
[39:59]one so the Prophet he came and he gave them the the
[40:03]you know this answer to come and refute them to say what
[40:07]do you what are you saying so the hadith says this verse
[40:10]was revealed as a result of of that an event because another
[40:14]another another hadith it says that this verse was Revere it was
[40:20]revealed when some of the Christians of magellan so there's two different
[40:23]hadith this is tafseer fee of allah in quran saba nozzle a
[40:29]car also it's another suburb nozzle another reason sometimes you might find
[40:35]two different reasons for for the revelation of the verse either because
[40:39]there's you know either because one of them is not true or
[40:43]sometimes they're both ok they're both accepted and true they came and
[40:47]they tell them they tell the Prophet the Christians they come and
[40:52]they tell them the Quran says Colima to lie you were okay
[40:56]regarding who which prophets which prophet prophet ISA they said I'm Allah
[41:01]describes in Colima Tula the word of Allah what oh hey and
[41:06]the Spirit of God so they come and they tell they tell
[41:11]him that this is the Trinity they tell him your Quran it
[41:13]comes and it says that ISA is the ruh have Allah as
[41:17]the so the prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam he comes and he
[41:21]recites other verses that say there's no shariq there's no partner to
[41:24]allah subhanaw taala and this verse was revealed that some people they
[41:29]have their own agenda they come and they take one verse and
[41:32]they leave out another verse so this is just an example and
[41:38]I had it from Imam Ali Ali Salam he says another another
[41:41]mistake that some people make is that some people they take parts
[41:44]of the Quran and leave out parts imam ali ali salam he
[41:49]says don't take the quran as scattered pieces of sand take a
[41:52]holistic image a holistic view of the quran don't come and just
[41:57]take you know one verse and try to come and take a
[41:59]meaning so now we're embarking on this this class to take the
[42:07]main principles and the themes of the quran so that we don't
[42:10]take one particular meaning if we were to start its FCO right
[42:15]now recite for example surat al fatiha or Adam Anaheim alhamdulillah bin
[42:20]Laden we're going to be limited to one particular view of the
[42:24]Quran in this class inshallah later on we will be able to
[42:29]go into the full tafseer however in this class we want to
[42:33]take the major message of the Quran this is why I decided
[42:37]to you know do this so that we have the full message
[42:38]of the Quran the greater theme the greater principle so if someone
[42:41]asks you give me five points that the Quran talks about five
[42:47]major points tell me about you know some of the major principles
[42:49]in your book you would be able to answer some people you
[42:52]come and you tell them what does the Quran say the Quran
[42:56]says I have to pray I have to fast I have to
[42:59]go to Hajj yes the Quran does say that but that means
[43:01]I'm confining the Quran this whole book to acts of worship now
[43:07]worship is very important but there are things that are that are
[43:13]the foundation of our faith for example tawheed for example the importance
[43:19]of the intellect many times the Quran tells me go and do
[43:22]two double go and think go and analyze this is a very
[43:26]important principle in the Quran the Quran talks about God's mercy today
[43:29]when people come and talk about the religion of Islam do they
[43:31]give a scary image of the Quran and the religion of stem
[43:35]or do they give a merciful image oftentimes it's oftentimes it's not
[43:40]a merciful image it's it's an image that's against the justice of
[43:43]allah subhanaw taala so we're going to take these major themes and
[43:46]concepts and principles that the Quran talks about and they're throughout the
[43:50]whole Quran we're going to take the versus we're going to analyze
[43:56]them using the approach of topsail Koran burn Quran and tafseer bill
[44:01]hadith looking at the narrations of the a debate looking at what
[44:06]the you know what the tafseer of these verses are to try
[44:09]to get a greater picture of the full image of the Quran
[44:17]al hamdu lillahi rabbil alameen wa sallahu hurry
