Arbaeen translates to fortieth day in Arabic, which is known as the traditional mourning period in Islam. The commemoration of Arbaeen marks the end of 40 days of mourning for Hussain ibn Ali, his family and his companions who were killed and imprisoned on Ashura, the 10th of Muharram.
