[0:00]foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] leading [Music] saying hello [Music] let me mean
[1:18]s [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] we know come on for the hastening
[2:21]of the reappearance of the master the Savior the Avenger the one
[2:26]upon whom the Angels descend on the Knights of recite Muhammad foreign
[2:45]speaking about the commander of the faithful is one of the most
[2:56]difficult tasks the best orators have had to Grapple with and it's
[3:03]difficult and challenging and almost impossible not just because the orator the
[3:12]speaker lacks the ability to convey the message which is always the
[3:24]case but the difficulty stems from the fact that language itself lacks
[3:30]the capacity to encapsulate the virtues and merits foreign words and sentence
[3:44]structures just cannot carry the weight of speaking about Ali and this
[3:50]might sound like a hyperbole like some poetic exaggeration but to know
[3:59]how true this is all you need to do is to see
[4:06]how the best orators throughout history have not only struggled to speak
[4:14]about but they even begin to stutter they have confessed and acknowledged
[4:20]the fact that they're unable to speak about the merits despite the
[4:27]fact that they were the best of the best in their field
[4:32]best poets best orators best writers best speakers even from outska outside
[4:42]the school of the people who have no reason or desire to
[4:52]exaggerate for them this isn't about attracting Rewards or gaining so up
[4:57]for them it's a mathematical exercise now talk about him they've acknowledged
[5:08]their inability to do so as a matter of fact even the
[5:14]prophet and the imams of the bait would often find it challenging
[5:22]speaking about this topic for various reasons the Hadith says that the
[5:30]holy prophet of Allah would turn to the people and he would
[5:36]say that there is this immense pressure on my heart my heart
[5:43]bleeds as I wish to convey the merits but I'm unable to
[5:45]do so the holy prophet says in a famous Hadith ya Ali
[5:53]en this Hadith is mentioned in the Blessed book of al-khafi an
[6:02]hour books and our collections of Hadith but also in the works
[6:05]of people who don't subscribe to the denomination to the religion of
[6:15]Ali they say and I quote the holy prophet said I swear
[6:22]by the one who holds my soul in his grip um had
[6:30]it not been for the fact that I am afraid certain segments
[6:37]within my nation would say about you what the Christians said about
[6:44]Jesus had that not been a concern for me I would have
[6:53]said something about you that every time you would pass the CR
[7:00]you would pass across a group of people they would take the
[7:09]sand from underneath your shoes from it not from you but the
[7:21]soil on which you walk in another version of the Hadith a
[7:27]more expanded one the prophet says this and I quote not only
[7:29]will they take from the soil under your feet but women they
[7:36]would wait for you to do so they would come and take
[7:41]from the water that drops to the ground in order to seek
[7:44]Indemnity and to seek healing from their sicknesses even though I can't
[7:55]say this I can't speak of your true merits it suffices you
[8:04]that you are from me and I am from you you are
[8:18]to me like Haroon was to Musa though there is no Prophet
[8:22]after me Ali there's a very important secret in this part of
[8:30]the Hadith the prophet says on the day of judgment when people
[8:36]flock to the pond of kothar in order to quench their thirst
[8:43]on the day when the Sun descends to nearly touch the heads
[8:49]of the people and The Thirst is killing them you will be
[8:55]the one to quench their thirst on the day of judgment you
[9:01]are my successor um and that your followers your Shia the ones
[9:16]who follow in your footsteps they will be seated atop pulpits made
[9:25]of light their faces are illuminated and they will be sitting around
[9:31]me around rasulullah there will be my neighbors in Paradise foreign and
[9:45]whoever fights you fights me whoever unsheathes their sword in your face
[9:55]has in fact struck rasulullah whoever is at peace with you is
[10:00]at peace with me the prophet is saying two things here number
[10:06]one that if I speak of your actual merits oh Ali I'm
[10:10]afraid people will divert away from the path of tawahid people will
[10:18]no longer believe in Allah they will believe you to be the
[10:24]Creator mistakenly they're wrong but I don't want to say something that
[10:27]would make them fall into the strap number one in other words
[10:33]the prophet is afraid to speak number two what he's saying is
[10:38]that your true value can only be demonstrated on the day of
[10:45]judgment in other words in a world that is above and beyond
[10:52]this one a world that's not constrained by the laws of physics
[10:57]where the Grandeur of can be put to this put on display
[11:02]this world lacks the capacity for you this language lacks the capacity
[11:11]for you which is why the prophet also says in a famous
[11:18]Hadith if all of the gardens and jungles of this world if
[11:26]you took all those trees and you turned them into pencils and
[11:33]all the oceans were turned into ink and all of the Jinn
[11:42]became people who counted and all of the human race began to
[11:51]write they could never enumerate the virtues and merits there is an
[12:06]incredible ziara brothers and sisters that has been narrated by Imam foreign
[12:15][Music] parenthetically let me mention this sometimes it is quite sad and
[12:27]unfortunate that we don't familiarize ourselves with the devotional literature and duaz
[12:35]and at least not sufficiently what happens and I'm sure you can
[12:44]relate to this what happens is that we are well versed with
[12:48]and so every time we visited Imam Al Hussain we recite the
[12:53]same ziara when in fact Hussein has dozens upon dozens of ziarat
[12:56]narrated from the bait not made by the scholars even though there
[13:02]are some that have been written by our Scholars like like and
[13:07]others but actual ziarat which means they're attributed to the imams they're
[13:14]connected to the imams through an authentic chain but because I've always
[13:22]become accustomed to reciting that's the ziara I read when I visit
[13:26]Imam Hussain but that's a mistake why because in every ziara there
[13:33]are secrets and there are illuminations and there are benefits and there
[13:39]are references to the stature of Imam al-hussein which needs to be
[13:43]taken into attention into our attention that he instructs his followers to
[13:53]recite when they visit is a masterpiece of the arat it's an
[14:00]absolute Masterpiece unfortunately it's not often recited Insha'Allah by the grace of
[14:08]amirul muhammadin when you visit him next time let's hope it soon
[14:12]try and recite as that's attributed to Imam al-hadi this ziara is
[14:22]full of Virtues about immunity the Imam Begins by saying and I'm
[14:32]paraphrasing he says remember this is the infallible Imam speaking he says
[14:40]that this name that we have been blessed and given permission by
[14:49]Allah to have role on our tongues the name of Ali we
[14:53]can only understand who he truly was on the day of judgment
[14:58]only then will we appreciate the value of Ali the Imam begins
[15:06]every section by saying my master Imam al-hadi says that he says
[15:13]that on the day of radhe the holy prophet appointed you as
[15:19]Muslim the Imam mentions a lot of the virtues of with special
[15:28]attention to those that have been referenced in the Holy Quran and
[15:32]then he says the following listen carefully he says when Allah speaks
[15:46]of your merits and Praises you foreign you don't need my praises
[16:04]the only one who can praise truly is Allah and even then
[16:14]Allah must use language that you and I could understand and as
[16:17]we said earlier language has its own inherent and intrinsic constraints and
[16:23]limitations so as I said the best or Raiders have stuttered and
[16:35]they've acknowledged their inability to articulate and speak of the merits of
[16:44]was a great poet who was also a descendant of um and
[16:51]yet he never praised anyone but a mural mom he says the
[16:58]following listen he says you are the truly elevated one you are
[17:07]Ali who has been elevated to the highest of summits foreign your
[17:47]mother Fatima the daughter of the lion he says she gave you
[17:55]a name that name was blessed is the daughter of the lion
[18:05]which makes her a lioness who gave birth to a lion [Music]
[18:22]is a western poet and yet his poetry is considered a gold
[18:30]standard a lot of people consider him to be an incredibly potent
[18:36]and Powerful poet he also says about he says you are the
[18:51]light every other light compared to you is Darkness it's not that
[18:56]your light is so bright it dims all the other lights every
[19:00]light compared to Ali is nothing but pure Darkness you dwarf all
[19:08]the lights around you you are the one who is high anyone
[19:22]else who is high is nothing but low foreign was an advisor
[19:33]to the ambassad king but he was a Shia and a staunch
[19:41]one at that he has an entire book of poetry dedicated to
[19:46]the bait may Allah bless those who take positions of authority and
[19:51]power but don't forget who they truly are don't forget their belonging
[19:59]to the path of Allah and the fact that they shall remain
[20:05]followers of this man looking after his other followers their own brothers
[20:11]and sisters there's no reason except in the case of extreme where
[20:18]you happen to live in a country that actively persecutes the followers
[20:24]of the Elizabeth in those cases it's understandable you have to practice
[20:30]but if you live in a country like this where alhamdulillah the
[20:33]followers of the Yahoo bait enjoy great freedoms that many Shia are
[20:37]deprived of in other countries in a place like this if you
[20:43]ever happen to occupy a position of power or authority never hide
[20:46]your identity don't be ashamed there's nothing to be ashamed of you
[20:54]follow no one even compares to him was one of these people
[21:03]listen to his poetry he says Allah if you understand a little
[21:09]bit of Arabic you begin to appreciate the Exquisite nature of these
[21:13]words and how he plays with them he says they say that
[21:26]Ali is high and elevated I said no highness is high by
[21:33]Ali and the grace of Ali is an incredible companion of I
[21:46]spoke about him last night in another majlis he came to the
[21:52]Imam when the Imam became a Khalifa so-called Khalifa he said I
[21:57]bear Witness that you your rank did not rise because of your
[22:06]Khalifa is now worth something now that you're a Khalifa the greatest
[22:13]Raiders brothers and sisters they stuttered it's like they were incapacitated when
[22:19]it came to speaking about what are you talking about Hadid I
[22:32]want to read you this because it's truly enlightening he is the
[22:42]author of perhaps one of the most famous commentaries on you know
[22:46]that he was a mortazly he was a Sunni he was not
[22:49]a follower of the elbait in fact even though he's been accused
[22:58]by others from within his own sect that he's a Shia anyone
[23:03]with a modicum of sincerity who reads and his Shah his commentary
[23:11]knows that IBN Abel Hadid was nowhere near Asia number one yes
[23:17]he exhibited enmity towards and other so-called companions but when it came
[23:28]to the first two he defended them viciferously in fact he defended
[23:34]them in such a manner that Allah says that on the day
[23:38]of judgment they themselves won't be able to put up a defense
[23:43]as powerful as that of Hadid towards them in other words he
[23:47]bent over backwards to try and exonerate them from their actions number
[23:51]two IBN Abel Hadid often attacks the Shia yes he says I
[23:58]love but not the Shia and he would criticize them Hadid has
[24:04]seven poems about a mural muhammadin the most important of these poems
[24:13]is called which means that every line ends with iron I want
[24:16]to read you some verses from this poem because this is the
[24:22]same poem that's written around today imagine a non-shia his poem is
[24:29]engraved on the wall he says he speaks to the lightning he
[24:39]says oh lightning when you go to Hari meaning to najaf say
[24:44]to the land of najaf what he's saying is who am I
[24:49]to step into the courtyard of only the lightning can reach that
[24:54]location do you know oh najaf who's buried in you the one
[25:15]who's buried in this land is this is the holy prophet of
[25:28]Allah who's buried there right is there is there the holy spirit
[25:47]is there speaking let's not forget that he says the light of
[25:56]Allah is buried there is who understand they can see the glimmer
[26:07]of the light of Allah in najaf a this is the Imam
[26:19]chosen by Allah the successor of rasulullah foreign how could I ever
[26:43]describe who you are you are the one who is the governor
[26:50]of the day of judgment foreign you're the one who intercedes on
[27:07]the day of judgment and Allah accepts your intercession and the Arabic
[27:21]language is an all-encompassing term it means a man who has the
[27:25]greatest of all virtues he says should I address you as a
[27:28]sumaida no you're way greater than that is foreign I am one
[27:49]of the best orators and speakers that have ever existed in the
[27:53]Arabic language and yet when it comes to speaking of your merits
[28:00]and virtues and Praises I begin to stutter I can't talk then
[28:04]he says I follow a different path however but because of you
[28:18]I love anyone who is attributed to you who is ascribed to
[28:23]you who is a Shiite as well my brothers and sisters as
[28:28]Sunni says that I love every she offer the love of Ali
[28:36]it's the ultimate tragedy that when we as fail to uphold the
[28:47]standard when we don't love each other for the love of Ali
[28:52]we don't look after each other for the love of Ali we
[28:57]don't help each other for the love of Ali we don't forgive
[29:01]each other for the love of Ali even if you're oppressed just
[29:06]say for your sake I forgive him if the mortezili says this
[29:14]then what is that where does that leave you and I brothers
[29:17]and sisters if you're going to take one lesson one lesson from
[29:24]tonight's majlis and from the remembrance of and his tragedy make of
[29:30]this we should forgive each other for the love of Ali we
[29:33]should love and respect and honor and cherish each other for the
[29:35]love of Ali if you truly want amironment to offer you his
[29:41]intercession on the day of judgment you do that Imam says he
[29:49]says to him convey my salaam to my followers and tell them
[29:58]to fear Allah and to not allow shaytan to come between them
[30:02]and tell them not to tear themselves apart don't spend your energy
[30:16]and your time on tearing each other apart the Imam then says
[30:21]he issues a Stern warning he says whoever does so foreign I
[30:28]have sworn that I shall pray to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
[30:33]curse that person foreign in every my new detail our third obligation
[30:49]is towards each other towards fellow Believers towards the lovers if someone
[30:57]loves Ali I love them for no other reason than their love
[31:03]for Ali I may have personal grudges against them there might be
[31:07]beef between us there might be problems that span Generations it doesn't
[31:14]matter I love that person for the love of Ali Overlook their
[31:19]faults ignore their flaws because the love of Ali should be much
[31:23]stronger than whatever beef there exists between a brother and a fellow
[31:29]brother otherwise where's the love of Hadi how does it manifest itself
[31:33]just by crying for Emil Momin that's not enough the true test
[31:38]according to our Hadith I'm not bringing this from my own pocket
[31:44]according to our Traditions the true test is when you love someone
[31:51]for Allah and you hate someone for none other than Allah again
[31:59]whatever problems might Sully the waters and might cause enmity between us
[32:06]as members of a community that offers its devotion the love of
[32:17]Ali should be the overarching principle to which we all adhere [Music]
[32:30]we said that language lacks the capacity to articulate the virtues of
[32:42]sure but we have to try because every time we speak of
[32:51]the merits every time we recite poetry every time we attend the
[33:01]Gatherings where the name of Ali beautifies these houses what that does
[33:09]is that it strengthens the bond that we have with we have
[33:14]no choice that's why the imams of the arubait would encourage their
[33:17]followers to write poetry and to recite the virtues of they would
[33:24]encourage them they would praise them they would even give them monetary
[33:31]compensation was a great poet who would frequent the houses of the
[33:37]once he went to the house of Imam asada and he sat
[33:42]there and recited poetry in Praise of Amir the Imam was in
[33:47]financial difficulty at least as far as his human nature is concerned
[33:53]his life on this Earth he was in great difficulty which is
[33:59]why the Imam went to the other members of the bait and
[34:04]he asked them each to contribute so he filled a bag with
[34:12]gold and silver and came to commit and said to him this
[34:14]is my gift to you okay mate for reciting these verses of
[34:18]poetry in honor of Amir Al muhammadin KU mate's Ambitions were lofty
[34:25]he said I don't want this instead give me the shirt that
[34:32]touches your body so that by wearing this shirt Allah might protect
[34:37]me from the fires about I don't need the money the Imam
[34:42]gave him the money and then he gave him the shirt you
[34:46]have to have lofty Ambitions brothers and sisters what you want what
[34:51]you ask Allah on these nights When you pray to Allah in
[34:58]the names of his most beloved Creations have lofty ambitions make sure
[35:03]you ask for big things you can ask for small things as
[35:08]well but since our time is limited and the window won't stay
[35:13]open then you better start with the big things and then towards
[35:16]the end ask for the small things as well ask to be
[35:18]raised up on the day of judgment ask to be fed by
[35:26]the Blessed Hands of Amir Al muhammadin from the pond of kothar
[35:30]just like Allah who was seen in a dream where he's walking
[35:37]descends from his member heads towards he was an old elderly man
[35:45]the Imam grabs his hand and he walks him all the way
[35:49]to the pond of kothar and then he begins to quench his
[35:51]Thirst by raising his blessed hand filled with water to the mouth
[35:56]of Allah and every time the Imam gave him water the Imam
[36:01]would say may Allah illuminate your face the way you illuminated mine
[36:09]may Allah honor you the way you honored me that's how the
[36:15]elevator so thankful by the way so thankful you do a small
[36:21]thing for them the way they repay you is exponentially higher unimaginably
[36:28]bigger ask for big things just like commit the problem though is
[36:34]that in order for us to speak of the merits of it
[36:40]is truly tragic that we have to make comparisons for example we
[36:49]say that stayed with rasulullah and protected him to the last breath
[36:57]while such and such ran for his life we have to make
[37:04]these comparisons but they belittle a million for us to contrast the
[37:11]greatest person after rasulullah to anyone is an injustice to him but
[37:18]we have no choice that's why we say was this spoken Quran
[37:26]while such and such couldn't even reach Surat al-baqarah we have to
[37:33]do this but if this world was different if we lived in
[37:39]a parallel universe where we wouldn't have to compare meaning or contrast
[37:44]them to others we would do that but this is the reality
[37:50]that we live in which is what gives the other side the
[37:52]audacity to speak about a little woman in the way they do
[37:57]have may Allah curse this man when he speaks about he says
[38:06]yeah the Shia say that he was the first Muslim but let's
[38:10]face it he was the first Muslim among the children so his
[38:16]Islam and conversion to Islam wasn't worth as much as such and
[38:23]such made my life and my soul and my parents be ransomed
[38:30]for this child who would say when I look at rasulullah I
[38:46]see the light of prophethood emanating from him and I smell the
[38:50]fragrance of Revelation from him was with rasulullah when the shaytan screamed
[38:57]out of desperation now that the prophet has been sent and the
[39:03]Revelation has been revealed the shaytan screeched heard the voice of the
[39:12]shaytan he said to the Prophet The Prophet said I bear witness
[39:23]that you hear whatever I hear and you see whatever I see
[39:27]may my life be ransomed for this child was just a child
[39:35]whereas the guy who became apparently became a Muslim after 50 other
[39:40]people had converted to Islam is much more important he has to
[39:46]become the first Khalifa listen to this one poet says how did
[39:57]they give themselves permission to compare between these two Ali between this
[40:08]slave who was filled with ignorance from head to toe and campaign
[40:19]what a vast distance exists between the one who's constantly praying to
[40:26]Allah and the one who's always worshiped and the idols you compare
[40:37]between these two how dare you I'll mention this last line and
[40:44]then inshaallah will wrap up you're the cause of creation without the
[40:53]prophet and the middle of Hussein and those that were sent as
[40:57]guides what purpose did creation have to begin with what so that
[41:03]a bunch of tyrants and fools and ignorance and people like me
[41:05]would come and live on this Earth and eat and drink and
[41:09]sleep and then die this was the the cause of creation this
[41:12]was the purpose foreign I am completely baffled by you foreign and
[41:25]in trying to understand your essence we have created none other than
[41:31]confusion some have spoken about you even though there is a veil
[41:43]separating them we don't know the true essence of Ali there's a
[41:48]veil there despite this Veil they have spoken about you that you
[41:55]are a god what would happen if the veil was lifted what
[42:01]would they say of course they're confused these people don't know Allah
[42:09]nor do they know anyone who attempts to elevate the status of
[42:15]that of Allah the creator of the universe they have not begun
[42:20]to understand the alphabets of the teachings but ignorance does this sometimes
[42:29]Imam alhadi once again he says Allah has given you what he
[42:46]has not given anybody else from among his creations every noble person
[42:52]has to bow down before you Allah a poet from calva Maine
[43:03]lived about a hundred years ago he says the following he has
[43:06]a long poem towards the end he says I have sworn that
[43:11]if I were given the choice after rasulullah examp foreign on it
[43:49]can we even begin to know I think there are only two
[43:59]ways we could start to scratch the surface one is for us
[44:03]to learn about him to know about him to read to ask
[44:07]to actually study and examine the life of to read brothers and
[44:18]sisters is among the most important works that a Shia must possess
[44:24]and must study to hold a regular program where brothers and sisters
[44:29]they get together and they read from try and understand it read
[44:34]the translation maybe refer to some commentaries this is one way the
[44:39]other is to ask Allah to illuminate our hearts and to grant
[44:46]us madifa of because ultimately gnosis of Ali is a gift of
[44:54]Allah it's not something you acquire yes you need to prepare the
[44:57]Slate you need to do you exert your effort you have to
[45:03]do all those things but ultimately you have to beg and grovel
[45:06]and plead with Allah to Grant you the knowledge that at least
[45:15]allows you to open the door to the gate of wisdom to
[45:19]the city of knowledge that is these are difficult nights was struck
[45:31]two calls were made on that Dreadful night called out to Allah
[45:42]the pillars of guidance have just been demolished your Imam is no
[45:52]longer with you we fail to appreciate him and now he's gone
[45:59]the Imam says in his last sermon only a few days before
[46:04]he was struck it's a beautiful lengthy sermon I read a little
[46:10]bit from it last night the Imam says who do you expect
[46:15]is going to do what I've done for you where will you
[46:20]ever find an Imam who leads you by example who walks in
[46:25]front of you so that you could follow him who heads to
[46:31]battle first doesn't just send conscripts he's the first person to show
[46:40]up where will you find an Imam like me and by far
[46:42]one of the most painful statements of which I'm always terrified when
[46:51]I think could this be something the Imam says to me as
[46:55]well on the day of judgment is what he said to IBN
[47:00]when IBN was brought to the Imam the Imam looked at him
[47:05]and he said to him was I such a bad Imam for
[47:14]you is there something I didn't do for you did I have
[47:18]any shortcomings did I oppress you you were a slave I bought
[47:21]you I freed you I guided you I helped you Brothers and
[47:30]Sisters Let's make sure the Imam of our time doesn't say that
[47:34]to us on our Deathbed Salah Allah let us appreciate the Imam
[47:48]of our time so that we don't end up like the people
[47:50]of kufa who fail to appreciate but one thing I want to
[47:58]mention tonight that you probably don't listen to quite often is that
[48:06]when the Imam made the second call the Hadith says that the
[48:15]Imam then fell to the ground me [Music] and he let me
[48:24]Atta Allah he never even said oh he's delighted his Overjoyed he
[48:36]wants to go meet rasulullah he didn't express any pain and then
[48:44]he started saying Bismillah the Imam remained calm the Imam remained happy
[48:58]and joyful Imam al-hasan and Imam al-hussein came to him that was
[49:04]the state of amirul muhammadin I say to you my brothers and
[49:11]sisters part of the reason why Amir Al muhammadin was so calm
[49:15]and delighted is that he didn't have to worry about his family
[49:18]whereas I know someone who on the day of Ashura is say
[49:29]this [Music] you turned your eyes towards your tens foreign was heading
[49:47]towards him with his dagger said was holding his spear 30 000
[49:57]people were surrounding Abba Abdullah instead of worrying about himself the Imam
[50:04]was born because he knew that in a matter of minutes modern
[50:12]cicada would be running around the battlefield would have no refuge suddenly
[50:25]they saw the horse them [Applause] [Music] the horse looked defeated without
[50:42]its Rider the saddle had turned sideways the women and the children
[50:46]ran out they say that one of the girls approached the horse
[50:49]she said to him that I know my father's been killed I
[50:54]just have one question did they quench his thirst before they killed
[50:58]him or not foreign foreign [Music]
