[0:00]I do think the anti-immigrant sentiment has absolutely grown in the United

[0:04]States over the past handful of years.

[0:07]>> And what would you attribute mostly to the reason why you

[0:12]think it's grown?

[0:11]>> I can point to one event that was very galvanizing for

[0:16]some people, which is the murder of Lake and Riley, who was

[0:21]a nursing student who was really brutally murdered by an undocumented immigrant

[0:26]in the United States.

[0:27]I do think other events that have really galvanized some anti-immigrant sentiment

[0:31]are some of the protests that have happened specifically at places like

[0:37]at Colombia.

[0:38]It seemed to many people to be the opposite of law and

[0:41]order.

[0:41]The media will portray specific groups as either being mentally unstable or

[0:46]this notion that they were not in control of what they were

[0:51]doing.

[0:50]Whereas when it comes to other groups, it's, you know, oh, obviously

[0:54]they were either undocumented immigrants or they were, you know, Muslims, you

[0:59]know, a Muslim person who had an agenda.

[1:01]The knee-jerk reaction is they're part of some big plot, some big

[1:04]international terrorism plot.

[1:04]And I'm not saying that's correct.

[1:06]I'm saying that is the perception by some individuals.

[1:10]And you even see this in some government communication now.

[1:14]Hamas support networks as though anyone who is protesting something is automatically

[1:21]a terrorist.
