[0:00]who is a poor person in islamic terms sometimes we need to

[0:05]know what defines a poor man or woman in islamic law to

[0:09]see if they deserve to be given some of the obligatory jews

[0:11]such as zakat or hums or even kaffarat the fakir is not

[0:17]to be judged on their clothes or outer appearance but rather if

[0:22]they actually have what they need to live appropriately for an entire

[0:28]year because either they don't earn enough to cover their expenses or

[0:32]don't own any money which is enough for example if someone's normal

[0:36]expenses are twenty five thousand dollars a year yet all they make

[0:39]is twenty thousand dollars and therefore five thousand dollars short they are

[0:43]considered poor in the islamic legal sense and can be given the

[0:46]obligatory sadaqa this is of course if they don't have any savings

[0:53]that they can utilize
