[0:02]Rahim [Music] I begin in the name of the almighty God the

[0:24]compassionate the merciful the one who has created everything and utmost perfection

[0:33]and May the peace and blessings of the almighty God be upon

[0:37]his pure and beloved messenger the peak of his creation the symbol

[0:46]of humanity the holy prophet Muhammad and his Immaculate progeny of the

[0:59]bait peace be upon them especially the leader of our time the

[1:02]awaited Savior Allah may Allah haste in his reappearance and make us

[1:11]all amongst his sincere and dedicated servants respected brothers and sisters as

[1:23]we continue examining the legacy of the commander of the faithful in

[1:29]these nights since we are commemorating his tragic martyrdom it's important for

[1:39]us to know about the difficulties that faced in guiding people in

[1:48]bringing Justice to his ummah one of the greatest challenges faced was

[1:58]at the Battle of safin this was a very destructive battle the

[2:05]Imam alaihissalam was advancing forward under the command and the leadership of

[2:13]Malik al-ashtar was retreating his army was being defeated was one hour

[2:24]away from achieving victory in safin when a big group of ignorant

[2:34]people in the camp of Imam Ali confronted him they were the

[2:40]early khawarage they told him you cannot continue this battle you have

[2:45]to stop right now and make peace why don't you know the

[2:51]enemy of God and he does not want to make peace no

[2:52]he's raised the Quran on the spear and he wants us to

[2:59]use the Quran as the arbitrator let's resort to the book of

[3:02]God we find this as an acceptable offer the Imam al-islam told

[3:09]them he's deceiving you does not want us to actually implement the

[3:14]Quran and the proof is before the battle we asked maawiya to

[3:20]resort to the book of God he refused now that he is

[3:22]being defeated he's making this offer this indicates he's not sincere he

[3:34]did offer to the other side led by ashes zubair and to

[8:43]why did you compromise Imam told them I didn't step down you

[8:46]forced me to stop you forced me to accept the takim and

[8:52]the arbitration imagine what your Imam had to go through with these

[8:56]ignorant people who put him through so much difficulty so according to

[9:26]said let's give this ummah one year to resolve the dispute I

[9:30]will give time one year to resolve the dispute now the khawaris

[9:35]turned against him no you cannot make peace an evil man he

[9:39]told them I told you that but you didn't listen to me

[9:43]so now they told him how come you're doing the takim you

[9:48]accepted it finally here becomes frustrated he slaps one hand against the

[9:55]other hand to indicate his frustration with his army with his people

[9:59]and the Imam States had uh this miserable state that we are

[10:08]in right now is the direct consequence of you not following your

[10:12]akda and pledge you made a contract with me no one forced

[10:15]me as a Khalifa Imam ADI was the only Khalifa was democratically

[10:20]elected They begged him to be the Khalifa The Imam says you

[10:22]came and you made a contract with me but you didn't listen

[10:28]listen to me this is the result why are we in a

[10:33]humiliated miserable State because you did not listen to your Imam I

[10:37]made an agreement with you that you follow me I told you

[10:42]has the biggest threat to this ummah you did not listen to

[10:43]me that's why we are in such a miserable state and then

[10:49]the Imam Ali salaam tells them and you know my Army I

[10:53]could have straightened you out I could have been aggressive with you

[10:57]but I'm not a dictator I could have if I wanted to

[11:03]I could have punished you for your betrayal but this is in

[11:10]another beautiful statement Imam see I do not see it appropriate for

[11:24]me to fix you guys up at the expense of destroying my

[11:26]own self by becoming a ruthless dictator myself I don't want that

[11:30]I know what fixes you I know how to rule you better

[11:36]than but I'm not like Maui I'm not corrupt like him I'm

[11:39]not aggressive like him but if I wanted you wanted to I

[11:43]could have yes but he wants to be that inspirational leader who

[11:49]has that Compassionate Heart who's not a dictator and he tells us

[12:25]the of Islam this is the rahma and the mercy of the

[12:27]religion of Islam went through this difficulty then if you really want

[17:39]they to the teachings of Elizabeth are we really showing the teachings

[19:24]brothers some of them in this sermon 121 of and another Hadith

[19:28]gives us a beautiful description let's read that description and then we'll

[19:34]proceed with this sermon over here States in a beautiful powerful Hadith

[19:57]this beautiful description the Imam says you know who my brother is

[20:00]I'll tell you who my brothers are what makes my brothers big

[20:07]in my eyes is the smallness of the world in their eyes

[20:12]the smaller this materialistic Dunya is in your eyes the greater you

[20:17]are in the eyes that's one of the descriptions of the brothers

[20:22]so the Imam here he's saying where are my brothers where are

[20:33]those people who truly responded to Islam who read the Quran and

[20:37]they implemented it solidly where are they okay describe them to us

[20:42]the Iman begins with this description one of the qualities of the

[20:51]brothers of Imam is that their eye becomes dysfunctional becomes white due

[20:58]to excessive crying what does this mean we know Imam Ali's eyes

[21:02]himself were functional I mean you could see he did not have

[21:05]dysfunctional eyes what does that mean is pointing our attention to this

[21:10]very important quality of the Believers who are qualified to be the

[21:14]brothers they have a soft heart such that they are constantly crying

[21:22]because of that soft heart they cry because of the love of

[21:26]Allah the fear of Allah when they see acts of Injustice Believers

[21:29]are not those who bottle up their emotions and they say no

[21:34]I if I'm a man I'm not going to cry not in

[21:38]the dictionary in the dictionary if you have the ability to cry

[21:43]and you have a soft heart you're the brother of today in

[21:48]the world today especially in some cultures and communities we have a

[21:52]very distorted image of what it means to be a man of

[21:58]masculinity In some cultures if you really want to show your masculinity

[22:05]you have to be aggressive you have to be tough you have

[22:09]to use inappropriate words I hear it I hear it from the

[22:12]shabab from the guys all the time say it my friends they

[22:16]tell me to man up man up man up how they told

[22:20]they tell me you don't cuss with us you need to use

[22:23]some cuss words so you prove that you're a man you're masculine

[22:26]Hmm this is masculinity that you could use inappropriate language is that

[22:32]the standard that you go by another brother says I had a

[22:38]dispute with my sister and then I forgave her she wronged me

[22:41]I forgave her my friends told me you're not a man you

[22:44]should have taught her a good lesson by forgiving her you're weak

[22:49]this mentality exists amongst many people today many people today you want

[22:56]to be the brother of be a man by having a soft

[23:02]Heart by caring for Justice by helping others by forgiving others then

[23:05]you're a man in the eyes by giving protection to other people

[23:11]by making them feel safe around you then you're a man foreign

[23:18]their eyes excessively cry because they have that spot heart in their

[23:25]heart that spot plays in their heart and that's why even though

[23:29]you see him the line in the battlefield when he would see

[23:32]an orphan he would cry he would cry nothing would break highly

[23:36]like an orphan so this is the first quality that he describes

[23:42]his brothers with the second one their stomachs are so thin due

[23:54]to fasting and not eating what does this mean in other words

[23:58]the Imam is saying my true brothers and those who follow me

[24:01]are those who are indifferent when it comes to the pleasures of

[24:08]this materialistic Dunya when it comes to food as an example they're

[24:11]indifferent They Don't Really Care not that they don't eat they don't

[24:14]starve themselves they eat and they ask Allah to bless them and

[24:20]they thank Allah but food for them is not a big deal

[24:22]let me give you a few examples here to better understand what

[24:26]the Imam is describing for us here every night alhamdulillah you come

[24:30]here to the fasania and you get good food over here there's

[24:34]two scenarios the first scenario is a person who comes he eats

[24:38]the food and he says alhamdulillah Allah thank you I thank you

[24:43]for giving me the sustenance the second scenario is a person who

[24:48]comes and he eats but let's say one night there's no soup

[24:53]for him tragedy that night if you don't get your soup or

[25:02]if something is missing in the suffra you have a problem that

[25:06]night or the salt or the tea or something you get agitated

[25:09]you're willing to fight you get upset you don't come the next

[25:12]day see you care about food the Imam says you want to

[25:19]be life brother don't care about food you get your food thank

[25:22]Allah you don't get exactly what you want it's okay by the

[25:24]way in our younger generation today Generation X Generation Z we have

[25:30]a problem we have a problem with this I see so many

[25:35]children if they don't have the food that they want they have

[25:38]a bad day that day with their parents once once I saw

[25:42]a family they were at a restaurant they were having the best

[25:46]food and then their teenage daughter was sitting angry upset what's wrong

[25:52]with you no I don't want to eat why I want sushi

[25:57]I want sushi there's no sushi here I'm not eating imagine imagine

[26:02]this type of mentality we're really seeing it you see this every

[26:08]day True Believers true meaning are those who are indifferent to the

[26:15]food okay it's not my priority it's not it's okay not a

[26:21]big deal that's how you become a brother now my dear brothers

[26:25]and sisters the sad reality is that in the month of Ramadan

[26:27]when we should be working on ourselves to create this attribute we

[26:33]do the opposite in many families the husband goes back home and

[26:38]the wife hasn't cooked five dishes in the month of Ramadan we

[26:44]have a problem in fact in fact families except expect from their

[26:49]mom right to cook more in the month of Ramadan than other

[26:52]days why where did you get this from this is not Islamic

[26:54]the prophet and the imams they would eat less than the month

[26:59]of Ramadan they would eat less in the month of Ramadan why

[27:01]do we burden our mothers to cook more and to work more

[27:05]I know some mothers who get exhausted in the month of Ramadan

[27:08]they spend endless hours in the kitchen why because there's that expectation

[27:11]if she does it the family gets upset Habibi who are you

[27:16]following which rasool are you following Ramadan is the exact opposite I'm

[27:21]not trying to spoil your meals your invitations enjoy them but don't

[27:27]burden anyone don't have unrealistic expectations if you go home and there

[27:31]is one dish thank Allah alhamdulillah Allah has given me that there

[27:35]is more be more thankful but don't ever create a fight an

[27:42]issue don't ever be upset because of food if you do fine

[27:44]that's your choice but you're not the brother of a million woman

[27:48]I've been at the Hajj I've been at the Hajj the journey

[27:52]where you're supposed to go and forget Dunya and focus on Allah

[27:55]I see people standing in line for the buffet for lunch and

[28:00]dinner and you have fist fights at the Hajj you have bickering

[28:02]and yelling no why did you cut in line why did you

[28:06]stand here this food is not good you brought the worst Chef

[28:08]for us this year the chef was the worst chef you came

[28:13]to the Hajj to eat Why'd You Come go to New York

[28:18]they have 20 000 restaurants in New York Habibi why'd you come

[28:20]to the Hajj who brought you here I don't understand why some

[28:24]people go to the Hajj honestly I'm not judging them here but

[28:27]I don't understand why they came here why'd you pay ten thousand

[28:30]dollars to come here and you took three weeks off from Europe

[28:35]why could go to much better places and enjoy yourself had just

[28:38]not for this business Hajj is a journey of Allah same with

[28:42]ziara when you go to karbera you go to mentioned you have

[28:47]to lower your expectations yes accommodations should be good definitely I'm not

[28:52]telling you go for a lower standard but if something doesn't go

[28:55]as planned it's okay it's not the end of the universe this

[29:03]is the second quality that he mentions what else does he mention

[29:07]Ed you look at their lips their lips have withered and become

[29:17]dry because of excessively remembering Allah and mentioning Allah for us it's

[29:23]a burden right if I mention Allah that's it enough because that

[29:29]true love may not be there we all love Allah no doubt

[29:36]of love when you fall in love with someone you want to

[29:41]look at them all day hear them all day speak to them

[29:43]all day you don't get tired because love is that infinite fuel

[29:48]the brothers are those who have that infinite fuel to always remember

[29:52]Allah anytime you're driving your recite versus from the Quran you mentioned

[29:58]Allah is always on your mind because you see the beauty of

[30:04]your creator and that motivates you to constantly remember him to the

[30:08]point where sometimes you eat your lips become dry I've seen people

[30:11]by the way I've seen people who are excessively in love for

[30:14]hours and hours they'll forget to drink water believe me forget people

[30:19]who are in love some people who play video games they'll go

[30:22]five hours without taking a sip of water because they're infatuated with

[30:28]that game they're obsessed with that game the brothers also have an

[30:34]infatuation and Obsession but it's with Allah they're obsessed with their creator

[30:37]they're infatuated with their Lord that's the description that the Imam gives

[30:42]us here and then they look yellow pale because of Sahar because

[30:52]of not sleeping well at night I would like to make a

[30:56]statement Here My Dear brothers and sisters but don't take this as

[30:58]a medical statement I'm not a doctor here to give you advice

[31:02]about your sleep and how much you should sleep but I'd like

[31:04]to share with you something we learned from the legacy of the

[31:08]prophet and the imams that it is purposeful and good for a

[31:12]movement for a believer to sacrifice his rest for something good for

[31:19]acts of charity for seeking knowledge about the worshiping Allah sacrifice some

[31:24]of your rest and sleep that's fine there's no Islamic Hadith that

[31:30]says you have to sleep eight hours every single night who said

[31:34]not Allah not the prophet not the imams yeah said but my

[31:38]doctor says you should sleep eight hours fine go sleep not saying

[31:40]but you want to be the brother of meaning sacrifice yeah but

[31:45]I live longer if I sleep eight hours a night fine assume

[31:49]you live longer which one would you rather choose let me ask

[31:53]you which one would you rather choose would you rather live 70

[31:58]years quality life serving Allah serving Humanity preparing your akhara in the

[32:02]best way or living 90 years but not having those contributions which

[32:07]one would you choose age doesn't matter look at some of our

[32:14]imams they were martyred at eight at age 24 28 age doesn't

[32:17]matter age will not determine your rank on the day of judgment

[32:22]in fact if you make it to 90 100 Habibi most likely

[32:24]you'll get Alzheimer's and you'll be a burden on your family you

[32:27]don't need to sleep eight hours a night to guarantee you'll make

[32:31]it into the hundreds be healthy of course Islam is the biggest

[32:35]religion that promotes health but sacrifice your comfort sacrifice to your rest

[32:41]it's okay have some time with your Lord with Allah according to

[32:46]one Hadith one of the companions of Imam Ali he says one

[32:51]day I went to his house in kufa I spent the night

[32:54]in the house I was about to fall asleep when I realized

[32:59]Ali got out of bed and he went down he went to

[33:05]the courtyard and I could tell he was fatigued he was tired

[33:08]imagine the Imam being the Khalifa how many obligations he had I

[33:14]told him I mean what are you doing he told him not

[33:15]philately I want to pray somebody asked to my Lord I told

[33:21]him look at yourself you're exhausted get some rest during the day

[33:25]you don't rest you spend your time with people helping people ruling

[33:29]the people delivering Justice to the people at night you don't rest

[33:35]when do you rest yeah Ali the Imam told him if I

[33:39]rest during the day and if I rest at night that's Abu

[33:50]Hassan if I rest too much during the day I will neglect

[33:53]my subjects my people and I if I sleep all night long

[33:59]no time for Allah I will be neglecting myself they become pale

[34:11]sometimes they are fatigue doing that which is right they're always doing

[34:16]something productive that's one of their beautiful qualities then States they're humble

[34:33]they're broken you feel that they are broken a movement is solid

[34:37]stronger than a mountain but when it comes to humbleness he's broken

[34:45]before Allah who am I is accessible to everyone he doesn't have

[34:49]that Pride Allah States these are my brothers where are my brothers

[35:01]who've left now I'm left with these people with these who are

[35:05]giving me all these difficulties all these troubles that's how we come

[35:12]Brothers even though as I said we're honored to be the dust

[35:15]beneath his feet but the Imam says you want to be my

[35:20]brother have some of these qualities then the Imam in the final

[35:23]part of the sermon he warns us then the Imam warns us

[37:21]that time with all that time that you put we're willing we're

[37:24]willing to worship shaytan by putting our time and efforts look at

[37:28]countries and governments who spend to go to war and to destroy

[37:32]and to exploit other nations you think that's easy how much resources

[37:36]do they use how many think tanks do they use to destroy

[37:38]other nations the Imam says Beware of the deception of shaytan he

[37:43]makes it appear to you that his paths are easy when they're

[37:49]not easy they're even more difficult look at people who engage in

[37:54]Haram relationships you think it's easy no it's not easy we think

[37:57]it's easy but it's not even those who are in a Haram

[38:00]relationship there is planning that they do the commitment the false commitments

[38:05]that they give to one another and then at the end of

[38:08]the day their left heart broken the path you took is difficult

[38:13]don't think it's easy at least you can say it's equally difficult

[38:17]the path of Allah is difficult the path of shaytan is difficult

[38:22]but don't think the path of shaytan is easy for you to

[38:52]Allah gives you strength gives you tranquility but not shaitlin what does

[38:58]straight line give you what does shaytan give you you think you're

[39:08]a different path for years he was away from religion he told
