[0:06]I begin in the name of the almighty God the compassionate the
[0:10]merciful the one who has created everything in utmost Perfection and May
[0:18]the peace and blessings of the almighty God be upon his pure
[0:23]and beloved messenger the peak of his creation the symbol of humanity
[0:30]our beloved Prophet the holy prophet Muhammad s Muhammad Muhammad and his
[0:43]Immaculate and pure progeny of the B peace be upon them especially
[0:48]the leader of our time the awaited Savior Al IM Al may
[0:58]God hasten his reappearance and make us all amongst his sincere and
[1:05]dedicated servants Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala states in the Holy Quran illuminates your
[1:33]hearts and Minds with a very loud salaat the costliest war in
[1:47]the history of humankind was World War II when you consider the
[1:53]cost of this war only in the United States it's equivalent to
[2:00]$4 trillion let alone the cost in Europe and in other parts
[2:06]of the world World War II was also the deadliest war in
[2:13]the history of humankind some 45 to 80 million people were killed
[2:19]in this war and by the way this was a war which
[2:22]had nothing to do with the religion of Islam or Muslims a
[2:27]war that involved Western countries now there were many factors which led
[2:36]to World War II it wasn't a single Factor but one of
[2:40]the most important factors was a single man by the name of
[2:43]who Adolf Hitler this man played a very important role in sparking
[2:53]this war which killed 40 to 80 million people now when you
[3:01]examine Germany at the time the Germans were 70 million it's really
[3:07]puzzling okay so Adolf Hitler he was out of his mind he
[3:14]was a dictator he was insane but how did he convince a
[3:20]nation of 70 million people to go to war with the entire
[3:23]world to commit the most heinous crimes to kill innocent people how
[3:28]did he do that because the Germans just like any other Nation
[3:34]most of them were rational people they weren't crazy people how did
[3:39]he make them crazy how did he convince them to go to
[3:43]war with the entire world he himself in in one of his
[3:50]books the name of his book is main C which means my
[3:54]struggle he actually writes down the ways through which he m mobilized
[4:00]his Nation he made them into extremists and he convinced them to
[4:08]go to war with the entire world he lists them let's go
[4:10]through some of them they're very interesting for example one of the
[4:14]things that he mentions in his book he says when a speaker
[4:20]like me is speaking to crowds when a president is speaking when
[4:25]any ruler is speaking he should keep the Dogma very simple just
[4:30]use one or two points keep it very simple and straightforward what
[4:37]does that remind you of lines like what ban all Muslims right
[4:41]does this ring a bell or for example declaring that you know
[4:49]in order for us to solve the issue of immigrants let's just
[4:53]build a big beautiful wall right how many times have you heard
[4:56]this in recent days Hitler says keep it very simple just one
[5:04]or two lines and then he also says reduce very complex Concepts
[5:09]down to stereotypes make everything as if it's black or white and
[5:16]what did we hear the past few months all those Mexican immigrants
[5:20]they're criminals they're rapists they're this they're that reducing very complex ideas
[5:26]to something that's black and white and then one of the points
[5:34]that he mentions play with people's emotions stir Their Fear stir their
[5:39]anger another point that he mentions is that repeat what you say
[5:47]use repetition keep repeating your points over and over and over because
[5:53]that's how you create zealots that's how you can rally your crowd
[5:57]another thing that he mentions is that you should speak with authority
[6:02]full Authority full power as if you could destroy the whole world
[6:09]you could teach the whole world a lesson and when you speak
[6:13]to people speak in the telling mode in the ordering mode speak
[6:20]with authority as if you're giving people orders and this is very
[6:25]dangerous we'll see why and so on and so forth he lists
[6:27]a few points on how to radical a nation how to convince
[6:32]them to go to war with the entire world and he did
[6:38]succeed in that now this is one thing that he used the
[6:40]second thing was Authority when you speak with authority to a nation
[6:46]and you tell them what to do this becomes extremely dangerous why
[6:51]because there's something about the human psychology we human beings we tend
[6:59]to submit to Authority what whether it's good Authority or bad Authority
[7:04]this is extremely dangerous in the 1960s an interesting experiment was conducted
[7:09]mgm's experiment some of you may have read about it basically they
[7:16]had Ordinary People ordinary citizens come to a lab and a science
[7:22]Professor a scientist would tell them look we're doing this experiment and
[7:28]there's someone sitting in a room and there's a cable an electric
[7:35]cable attached to that person we want you to shock that person
[7:38]administer an electric shock to that person initially the people hesitated you
[7:44]know will this hurt that person the scientist said no you have
[7:48]to do it I'm a scientist I'm telling you to do this
[7:51]you know that most of those people in that lab they were
[7:57]willing to administer a fatal shock because they they would increase the
[8:01]voltage it was all a game of course no one was being
[8:06]electrocuted to death but those par participants thought that they were electrocuting
[8:11]that person most of them were willing to go that far to
[8:14]actually kill someone now later when they asked them how did you
[8:20]bring yourself to do that it boiled down to one thing Authority
[8:26]while a professor was telling me to do it a scientist was
[8:28]telling me to do it and scientists command some Authority this is
[8:36]extremely dangerous when someone comes with the wrong rhetoric with a dangerous
[8:42]rhetoric and speaks with authority an entire nation can be radicalized just
[8:48]like Hitler did with 70 million Germans that's why in the religion
[8:54]of Islam Muslims are encouraged by the Holy Quran by the teachings
[8:58]of the Prophet peace be upon him not to blindly accept any
[9:04]Authority isn't this exactly the message of IM Hussein don't just accept
[9:08]the authority because it's an authority figure no you have to see
[9:13]is this a good Authority or a bad Authority the Muslims at
[9:17]the time at the time of Bena they were fooled by the
[9:20]Bena because they forged so many narrations attributing them to the prophet
[9:26]that you have to obey the Khalifa even if he is corrupt
[9:33]even if he's an oppressor you have to obey him because he's
[9:36]someone who has Authority someone who has power but the message of
[9:45]IM Hussein was no if I have a ruler who's unjust who
[9:49]has no regard for the laws of God don't respect that Authority
[9:53]you have to sacrifice and he's the one who showed us how
[9:58]to sacrifice now let me make this very clear this is in
[10:03]no comparison what I mentioned about Hitler and how he radicalized 70
[10:08]million Germans this is in no way a comparison between Hitler and
[10:13]Donald Trump Hitler was a mass murder he was the most evil
[10:19]dictator of his time Donald Trump you know let's just say he's
[10:22]a genius who lost $916 million in 1995 this is not a
[10:29]comparison between the two but but why is this alarming why is
[10:34]this alarming to us because this tells us that if you have
[10:39]poisonous rhetoric even if you have a peaceloving nation even if you
[10:48]have a nation that respects others you will radicalize this nation because
[10:54]poisonous rhetoric if you keep hearing it for a month two months
[10:57]5 months for entire year and someone who claims to have authority
[11:01]someone who could potentially be a president this is very dangerous it
[11:05]ruins the social fabric of our society the religious fabric the racial
[11:10]fabric this is why it's very alarming and the past year or
[11:20]so we have seen the most hateful rhetoric from someone like Donald
[11:24]Trump about immigrants about African-Americans and especially about Muslims and the religion
[11:33]of Islam you know Donald Trump he's not really an islamophobe if
[11:38]you look at his history you don't find anything significant in his
[11:44]history about against the religion of Islam Donald Trump is an opportunist
[11:48]he's using this hateful rhetoric in order to solicit more voters in
[11:57]order to create zealots to have the highest number of Americans supporting
[12:02]him that's what it's about otherwise if you look at his history
[12:08]he isn't he doesn't really care about the religion of Islam he
[12:10]really doesn't care about Muslims but once he realized that if you
[12:15]stir hate and anger then there are people who will be impacted
[12:22]by this fear and they'll vote for you they'll give you their
[12:27]support and this is extremely dangerous that's why he uses these tactics
[12:32]he knows what he's doing Donald Trump uses tactics primarily to cater
[12:39]to two types of groups you know the tactics that he used
[12:42]he creates this enemy Muslims immigrants he focuses on humiliation we Americans
[12:49]are being humiliated by these terrorists by China by Japan by whoever
[12:54]it is by Mexico and you know what this actually has an
[12:59]impact on many Americans they feel humiliated when they hear such rhetoric
[13:03]so he creates anger he creates fear he creates this feeling of
[13:09]humiliation and this pushes so many people so he's trying to cater
[13:17]to two groups the first one is traditional white Christian males he
[13:24]wants their support and he's tapping into their deeply rooted racial and
[13:31]religious bias because he wants their support you know since the 1960s
[13:37]this group of people they lost a lot of their prestige a
[13:42]lot of their power and they're not happy with that they missed
[13:45]those good old days when they could openly boast about being the
[13:48]best of the people about degrading others openly attacking other races some
[13:55]of them missed those days and so he trying to gain support
[14:03]in this particular group group so he uses this rhetoric in order
[14:07]to arouse them this is one group the second group which is
[14:12]very dangerous is white supremacists you know groups like the KKK and
[14:16]others he's trying to mobilize them and you know since decades he's
[14:23]given them the biggest boost in membership the biggest boost in membership
[14:28]every single day they're recruiting thousands of people because of this hateful
[14:34]rhetoric because of what he's doing to this Society they're gaining more
[14:41]and more members and they love what he's doing especially when he
[14:45]speaks with authority and he wants to teach the whole world a
[14:47]lesson and all Races he wants to teach them a lesson they
[14:54]love that you know the Pharaoh used the same techniques he spoke
[14:57]with so much Authority so much power power I'm even your Lord
[15:04]that's what he declared and the Egyptians they just submitted to that
[15:09]power but Allah subhana wa tala warns everyone in the Holy Quran
[15:16]Allah says that the afterlife is for who is for who as
[15:27]for those who do not want to be arrogant in this life
[15:31]and act so powerful Allah has assign the for those who do
[15:39]work they may rise to power but with humbleness their goal is
[15:45]not just to achieve power so we see that he is using
[15:54]fear and anger and hatred in order to gain support from these
[15:58]two groups and this is very alarming because he's really creating hate
[16:02]and fear you know back in March there was an interview conducted
[16:07]with him and you know what he said many of you may
[16:11]remember this he said I believe that Islam hates us you know
[16:17]what this does when millions of Americans hear this from someone who
[16:21]has some sort of authority because he's a candidate he said I
[16:27]believe that Islam hates us now I have to say something here
[16:30]what do you mean Mr Trump by us if by us you
[16:35]mean racism then yes you're right Islam hates racism if by that
[16:42]you mean sexism then yes Islam is is against that if by
[16:45]us you mean when you mocked that disabled person that reporter with
[16:49]a disability then yes Islam hates that if by that you mean
[16:58]hatred and racism and egotism then yes Islam hates that but you
[17:02]see the fear that he's creating many people are really afraid of
[17:06]the religion of Islam when they hear such hateful rhetoric and they
[17:13]have no clue what Islam is what extremism is what Muslims are
[17:17]just like the Shar issue that we had a few years ago
[17:23]remember when everyone was talking about sh creeping into our societies like
[17:27]this spider in our societies many of you heard that right but
[17:32]most of those people who were pushing for anti-sharia legislation they had
[17:36]no clue what sharw is I remember one one time this state
[17:45]senator from Alabama he was pushing for anti-ar legislation and you know
[17:51]he was very fervent about it a reporter asked him can you
[17:54]explain to us what Shar is you know what he said he's
[17:58]like I don't have my file in front of me right now
[18:02]has no clue has no clue what Shar is yet he's pushing
[18:06]he's pushing for anti-ar legislation you know many of you may remember
[18:12]the interview with my respected father and Pastor Terry Jones when my
[18:17]father asked him why did you come here to burn the Quran
[18:22]what brought you here what did he say he said I have
[18:27]come to protest Shar Shar is no good I burned the Quran
[18:33]to show my rejection of Shar my father asked him what is
[18:36]it about Shar that you don't like what is it about it
[18:40]he's like Shar is very violent my father asked him give me
[18:42]an example what is it about Shar that you don't like remember
[18:46]what he said he's like yeah because I burned the Quran because
[18:50]the Shar and the Quran tells Muslims to Stone the one who
[18:55]has committed adultery my father told him you know if that's why
[18:58]you bur the Quran that's not mentioned in the Quran it's mentioned
[19:04]in the Bible the Bible is actually the book that speaks of
[19:08]stoning the adulterer and 16 others by the way the Bible prescribes
[19:13]stoning to death or the capital punishment to 16 offenders one of
[19:20]them is a rebellious child thank God you're not living in that
[19:24]era because we have some rebellious kids in our communities but the
[19:29]B does speak about that by the way a rebellious son who
[19:31]doesn't stop his Rebellion is to be stoned to death at the
[19:36]gates of the city so everyone can see it that's the Bible
[19:38]many of them are ignorant what's going on what is the religion
[19:44]of Islam they have no clue but it's this fear that he's
[19:47]creating and he's actually lying to many Americans what's amazing to me
[19:52]is that I've never seen this anywhere really someone who can openly
[19:57]come out and lie to millions of people and just get away
[20:00]with it and people are cool about that this is extremely dangerous
[20:04]you know he claimed to see thousands of Muslims celebrating on 911
[20:11]when those Twin Towers came down in New Jersey and when they
[20:15]kept asking him you know there's no such thing there's no such
[20:19]footage he kept insisting no I saw it with my own eyes
[20:21]I saw thousands of these Muslims celebrating that day but you know
[20:29]what millions of Americans are buying these lies and it's really impacting
[20:34]them now let's look at these statistics because one of the points
[20:40]that he is using and those islamophobes are using is that the
[20:47]biggest threat today to American society is What Muslim terrorism or they
[20:51]call it they call it Islamic terrorism we don't have Islamic terrorism
[20:55]yes there are so-called Muslims who commit acts of Terror but we
[21:00]don't have something called Islamic terrorism the religion of Islam is a
[21:05]peaceful religion if you remember the Republican primaries and the debates it
[21:13]seemed as if the biggest threat to America was Islamic terrorism these
[21:18]Muslims they're destroying our society they're going to kill all of us
[21:22]and many Americans are actually believing that that the biggest threat facing
[21:26]their society today is Muslim extr ISM but let's look at the
[21:29]facts I want you to know these facts so you can share
[21:34]these facts with your society and this is not to downplay extremism
[21:40]and terrorism committed by so-called Muslims terrorism is a grave sin it's
[21:47]a grave crime but is it really the biggest threat that we're
[21:50]facing in our society look at these statistics here in the United
[21:58]States from 2005 till 2010 how many Americans in the US were
[22:02]killed by Muslim terrorists how many do you think the way Trump
[22:09]talks about it you would think 240,000 right the way he's presenting
[22:13]it to the people because that's the biggest threat how many according
[22:18]to official statistics from 2005 till early 2015 24 Americans died 24
[22:28]and yes this is a huge crime because every life is sacred
[22:33]but is this really the biggest threat facing America and a decade
[22:37]24 Americans dying because of extremist Muslims who committed acts of terrorism
[22:43]in this same period brothers and sisters in the same decade over
[22:49]300,000 Americans were killed because of gun violence you know even the
[22:59]Washington Post reported that in the the year 2013 there were more
[23:04]Americans killed by toddlers little kids with guns than by Muslim extremists
[23:11]and terrorists you're more likely to be struck by lightning and killed
[23:16]by your TV set or your couch than to be killed by
[23:18]a Muslim extremist or terrorist but is that how our politicians talk
[23:23]about it some of them they make it to you as if
[23:29]it's the big biggest threat facing our society but Americans really don't
[23:33]know these facts ask a random American tomorrow if you see how
[23:35]many people do you think have been killed they really think it's
[23:37]in the thousands hundreds of thousands they have no clue we need
[23:44]to share these statistics in 2015 there were 355 mass shootings in
[23:52]the US 355 mass shootings and yes one of them was an
[23:56]extremist you know that terrorist Faruk the one who was responsible for
[24:04]the San Bernardino attacks but what does Trump do he takes this
[24:11]one particular shooting and he makes it the biggest threat facing America
[24:14]if you look at Europe because Europe saw a wave of attacks
[24:21]as well the last several years if you look at Europe the
[24:24]last 10 years or so the last 15 years or so out
[24:29]of all all acts of terrorism committed in Europe 2% of them
[24:33]was what by Muslims even less than their population because if you
[24:39]examine the population of Muslims in Europe in some countries it's 5%
[24:42]in some 10% in some 15% but only 2% of all terrorist
[24:51]Acts were committed by Muslims in Europe is this really the biggest
[24:54]threat but many people don't know that we have to share these
[25:02]statistics with our society to calm them down a bit yes terrorism
[25:04]is a big issue we have to solve terrorism we have to
[25:11]denounce terrorism but but don't let that fear make you irrational don't
[25:16]make that fear make you a racist person so the results have
[25:22]been very damaging the results of such poisonous rhetoric the results the
[25:26]consequences of such hateful rhetoric has been very very damaging you know
[25:33]there was a Blog a hate blog for people who wanted to
[25:36]express their hate it had 11,000 members after the rhetoric of trump
[25:45]you know how many members now it has 11 million 11 million
[25:48]people now are subscribed to this hate blog what does that tell
[25:52]you this is very dangerous and to show you about the religion
[25:57]of Islam specifically what's happening in this country According to some surveys
[26:02]that were done recently the religion of Islam is seen as the
[26:07]most unfavorable religion in this country behind atheism can you imagine that
[26:15]in June this past June just uh two three months ago nearly
[26:19]half of Americans supported Donald Trump's proposal to ban all Muslims nearly
[26:26]half of Americans actually supported that nearly 50% of Americans they admit
[26:34]that they feel prejudiced towards Muslims and Islam 25% of Americans agreed
[26:41]that Muslims should carry a special ID card in order to prevent
[26:45]further attacks in the future and this is extremely alarming half of
[26:51]all Republicans believe that Islam is a violent religion it's a religion
[26:55]that condones violence encourages violence this is very alarming to us respected
[27:00]brothers and sisters but I'm not here to scare you what is
[27:05]the solution of the religion of Islam we have to know what
[27:12]the solution is and what our responsibilities are how is it that
[27:19]we can play a positive role in calming down this nation what
[27:24]is the solution of the religion of Islam when it comes to
[27:29]such issues how do we stop a nation from becoming radicalized from
[27:34]being influenced from such hateful rhetoric and this is what's important because
[27:39]you know the problem is not Donald Trump he can say whatever
[27:42]he wants the problem is the consequences of such hateful rhetoric this
[27:47]is our society in which we live in we cherish our homeland
[27:53]here here is the future of our children we need to know
[27:57]what we need to do so what is the solution of the
[28:03]religion of Islam there are external factors and there are internal factors
[28:08]that the religion of Islam emphasizes emphasizes in order to protect a
[28:16]nation from falling into such a trap from becoming hateful from becoming
[28:22]racist and from becoming rejecting of other minorities of other groups so
[28:29]let's start with the first internal factors the first internal Factor brothers
[28:34]and sisters something that the Holy Quran constantly stresses and emphasizes is
[28:41]what to be Pious because change starts in your heart if I
[28:49]don't have piety in my heart I can't change my Society I
[28:53]can't stop this hateful rhetoric if I don't fear Allah subhana I'm
[28:59]not God conscious that's why you see the Holy Quran constantly emphasizing
[29:09]this the best provision for you is to have piety to be
[29:17]Pious oh people oh you who believe fear Allah subh be Pious
[29:26]the same verse ver mentions piety twice because when you're truly mindful
[29:32]of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you know that Allah subhah wa ta'ala
[29:38]is watching you watching your every move everything you say even how
[29:45]you think that creates an internal barrier between you and between hatred
[29:50]between you and racism between you and arrogance and extremism it all
[29:57]starts starts with tawa and py doesn't mean that you have to
[30:00]have a beard and you go to the mosque and you pray
[30:03]in front of others no that's just one part of it we've
[30:08]seen many people throughout history who used to pray but what kind
[30:11]of prayer a prayer which had no piety a prayer which had
[30:20]no tawa Allah subhana tala is monitoring our actions every minute of
[30:26]our actions is being monitored by Allah you know when you think
[30:30]about how many cameras are monitoring you from day to night you'll
[30:33]change you'll act very differently first of all Allah is watching you
[30:37]secondly the angels of God especially the two angels who are recording
[30:41]your actions number three the very ground that you walk on is
[30:44]monitoring you Allah on the day of judgment will reveal to the
[30:55]Earth to speak what did I do on this land what did
[31:00]I do on this Earth the prophets and the imams they're monitoring
[31:06]our actions your own body parts are monitoring you on the day
[31:15]of judgment you will tell your skin your body parts why did
[31:20]you witness against me why did you expose me what will it
[31:26]say Allah subhana tala is the one who caused us to speak
[31:32]if a person truly has tawa if is if a nation if
[31:37]a society are Pious then you don't see such consequences even if
[31:42]someone comes with hateful rhetoric you don't see millions of people changing
[31:47]within months within weeks this is the importance of piety this is
[31:52]the importance of tawa they say once a father went with a
[31:57]son to a Farmland land to steal some fruits from that F
[32:00]Rand he told his son my son stand at the gate make
[32:05]sure no one is watching us if you see someone watching us
[32:09]I want you to let me know immediately point that out to
[32:12]me so as soon as his father goes and he's about to
[32:17]pick those fruits and steal them his son calls on him his
[32:21]father comes back you know he's scared is there someone here he
[32:26]told him my dear son what happened and he was like well
[32:28]someone's watching us he came to the gates he looked to his
[32:32]right he looked to his left no one was watching he told
[32:34]him my dear son there's no one watching so why did you
[32:39]call me and give me a false alarm he told him Baba
[32:43]didn't you tell me that if someone's watching us I should tell
[32:45]you he's like yeah so who's watching us he said Allah subhana
[32:47]tala is watching us just wanted to remind you of that he
[32:51]had a good mother who raised him you think if you raise
[32:56]your children like that brothers and sisters you'll have issues if a
[32:59]person really grows up to be conscious of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[33:04]to truly have piety would you have such issues this is one
[33:11]internal solution that the Holy Quran gives us that if you want
[33:13]Allah to change your status you start changing yourself this is number
[33:18]one number two is arrogance because a lot of these people who
[33:25]are supporting such hateful rhetoric they're driven by arrog because Trump and
[33:30]others what do they tell them essentially they're telling them whether directly
[33:35]or indirectly that we're better than all other nations we're the best
[33:40]Nation on Earth We're the best people we're the most advanced people
[33:43]we this or this and this actually creates a lot of arrogance
[33:49]when you become arrogant then yes you'll hate others you'll denounce others
[33:53]you'll show your racism you'll show your extremism the Holy Quran teaches
[34:01]us to be humble why do you think the Holy Quran keeps
[34:03]telling us about the story of prophet adam.
[34:08]and the devil why does God keep telling us and so many
[34:14]of the chapters of the Quran IM explains it to us the
[34:20]IM explains to us that the first sin that was ever committed
[34:23]was what an act of arrogance because said I will not prostrate
[34:31]to Adam I'm better than him you created me from fire and
[34:34]you created him from clay and fire is surely better than clay
[34:40]an act of arrogance if we can teach humbleness to our families
[34:44]to our societies and spread that humbleness this is a great way
[34:50]to stop this hatred to stop racism to truly feel humble to
[34:54]truly feel that you're just a humble servant of of Allah subhah
[34:59]wa ta'ala you know once there was a gathering of two scholars
[35:04]in nef centuries ago one of them was a very well-known scholar
[35:08]he was a mer and there was another one who was also
[35:13]a scholar a mer was not as famous as the first one
[35:15]they got into an argument an intellectual argument he was trying to
[35:20]prove his point the other one was trying to prove his point
[35:25]until one of the mar he remained silent and it seemed that
[35:29]he accepted the arguments of The Other M now in that moment
[35:37]people thought that the other M he became Victorious as that other
[35:41]mer was about to leave you know what the first one did
[35:45]he got up to him he went to him and as he
[35:49]was farewelling him he kissed his hands do you know what that
[35:54]means and he had a higher Social Status yet he kissed his
[35:58]hand now his followers were were really Disturbed afterwards they came to
[36:03]him and they told him what's going on why did you do
[36:05]that why did you kiss his hands this is wrong this is
[36:09]unacceptable you know what he said he said when I was arguing
[36:14]with him and I realized that I had the proper argument I
[36:16]became arrogant I wanted to stop the arrogance so I remained silence
[36:22]let him beat me in the conversation so what but then I
[36:25]felt myself struggling to prove myself to prove my point to be
[36:30]the Victorious One in order to myself and restrain myself I did
[36:39]the unthinkable I went and I kissed his hand so I teach
[36:45]myself a good lesson never act arrogantly never think you're better than
[36:49]others and you can win any argument arrogance arrogance breeds such type
[36:56]of hatred selfishness breeds Sub typ sub such type of hatred unfortunately
[37:03]many of you know our fellow citizens yes we have the spirit
[37:08]of philanthropy the spirit of generosity and giving but many of us
[37:11]are selfish because we only care about us ourselves our problems who
[37:16]cares about what's happening in the world do you know that every
[37:21]year in the United States $160 billion worth of fresh food is
[37:28]wasted $60 billion for those who have charitable organizations you know what
[37:38]that means you know that no human being will starve on Earth
[37:41]If That 160 billion was spent on them on the poor to
[37:48]eradicate poverty to erad eradicate starvation and malnourishment but the problem is
[37:52]we don't care we're wasting all these resources this goes back to
[37:59]selfishness because we really don't care it's not important for us and
[38:02]the third one is ignorance ignorance also breeds hatred you know interestingly
[38:07]even you know in the media they were quoting this that the
[38:13]diploma was the Republican fault line those you know a good indicator
[38:16]of those who would support such hateful rhetoric or they would support
[38:20]Trump is their level of Education most of his supporters they have
[38:25]less education a high school diploma or less not all of them
[38:30]but many of them because ignorance really breeds hatred the more you're
[38:37]educated the more you realize what's going on in the world why
[38:40]does Allah subhana wa tala instruct Us in the Holy Quran to
[38:46]see the diversity why does Allah subhana wa ta'ala tell us that
[38:49]I've created you as Nations and tribes so you get to know
[38:55]one another so you share experiences from one another this is the
[38:58]beauty of the religion of Islam and the diversity that we see
[39:02]in the religion of Islam so these are several internal factors now
[39:08]let's get to the external factors one of the most important external
[39:14]factors brothers and sisters is for us as a community to speak
[39:21]up we have to do something about this and IM Hussein teaches
[39:25]us that when you see something wrong in your Society don't feel
[39:29]complacent don't feel powerless no even if your numbers are a few
[39:36]you can make a difference no America is not you know going
[39:43]down the drain because of someone who's irresponsible like Donald Trump no
[39:48]America is still a great nation but we have to play a
[39:53]role in keeping this nation a great nation you can make a
[39:56]difference if you think IM Hussein Alam with 72 companions he made
[39:59]a difference on the other side you had how many 30,000 we're
[40:04]a lot more than 72 we're a lot more than 72 just
[40:09]look at the numbers that we have in our community we can
[40:12]make a difference but we have to speak up we have to
[40:17]have an active role in the media in our communities in our
[40:20]societies and there are three groups brothers and sisters that we need
[40:24]to expose number one is Isis because believe it or not Isis
[40:31]is now representing Us in the eyes of millions of people it
[40:34]could be your neighbor believe me go to your neighbor speak to
[40:37]your American neighbor and you realize that you know maybe Isis does
[40:43]represent those people maybe if they're given power they'll do the same
[40:47]millions of Americans are actually thinking that what have you done to
[40:51]distance yourself from Isis what have you done I want to ask
[40:53]all of you here tonight brothers and sisters ask yourself have I
[41:01]personally done anything to denounce extremism because it's extremist like Isis who
[41:06]actually you know give people like Donald Trump the rhetoric to create
[41:14]hatred that's what's dangerous what have I done as an individual as
[41:20]a citizen to say that Isis does not represent me that I
[41:23]condemn this group what have we done we have to expose them
[41:29]this is one group the second group that we have to expose
[41:31]brothers and sisters are those who support Isis the wahhabi ideology governments
[41:41]like Saudi Arabia who have backing who has been backing such ideology
[41:49]for decades for two centuries they've been backing this wahhabi ideology this
[41:54]breeds violence this breeds hatred we have to expose them and these
[41:59]days we're seeing a wave you know in the media of them
[42:01]being exposed you know the recent legislation past jasta for example and
[42:08]we see a lot of Articles now in the New York Times
[42:13]and elsewhere but this is the third group that we also need
[42:15]to expose brothers and sisters and this is very sensitive but we
[42:20]have to discuss this you know right now for example in the
[42:23]New York Times we're seeing many articles that are speaking about Saudi
[42:27]Arabia and their role in terrorism in supporting these terrorists that's great
[42:34]that's wonderful and we should thank them for exposing that but I
[42:37]would like to ask the New York Times and others where were
[42:42]you the past 15 years when Saudi Arabia was supporting these terrorists
[42:47]was supporting the extremist wahhabi ideology where were you how come you
[42:51]were silent all these politicians these congressmen son of now they decide
[42:59]that Saudi Arabia should be held responsible what happened the past 15
[43:02]years this should be a wakeup call for America brothers and sisters
[43:08]and we have to speak about this so this doesn't keep happening
[43:11]again politicians have to act responsibly yes it's great right now that
[43:17]you begin to realize where the root of extremism is in the
[43:22]world then who's feeding this extremist wahhabi in the Muslim this extremist
[43:26]idea ideology in the Muslim world but what happened the last 15
[43:30]years how come you turned the Blind Eye they have to be
[43:36]answerable to Americans they need to explain their position the past several
[43:42]decades so this doesn't happen again in the future so we have
[43:47]to be very vocal brothers and sisters we have to speak up
[43:50]and defend our rights we have to reject racism in all of
[43:56]its forms it starts from us you know the problem is when
[43:59]you talk about racism with our fellow Americans racism sometimes is destroying
[44:04]our own communities our own societies but listen to this Hadith from
[44:09]the holy prophet Muhammad sallah inspect your heart right now see do
[44:21]you have any traces of racism of prejudice in this Hadith the
[44:29]prophet peace be upon Him says if there is in your heart
[44:40]the size of a seed of racism of prejudice then Allah subhah
[44:46]wa ta'ala will resurrect you with with the pagans of Jah if
[44:54]you have the size of a seed of racism in Your Heart
[44:56]A True Believer is one who does not have racism we need
[45:02]to lift the spirit of the religion of Islam and share it
[45:08]with our society brothers and sisters we Muslims should be at the
[45:13]Forefront in combating in combating racism in combating hatred Prejudice sexism we
[45:19]should be at the Forefront but are we really doing our job
[45:23]what are we doing in our societies let's learn from Al IM
[45:30]Hussein let's take the spirit of Al IM Hussein let's say to
[45:34]our nation that such hateful rhetoric will not destroy us with the
[45:39]spirit of abdah Hussein will stop this hatred we'll stop this racism
[45:45]let's show the love of IM Hussein through our actions let's invite
[45:51]to the path of Al IM Hussein when others look at our
[45:57]actions do really reflect the teachings of our imams of our leaders
[46:04]you know every company has a catalog you look at the catalog
[46:07]it's so nice and fancy it really encourages you to buy the
[46:13]to buy the product we the followers of B we are cataloges
[46:15]to the imams because the people did not see the imams what
[46:22]do they see they see me they see you they see us
[46:23]as a community we are catalog to the IMs of we reflect
[46:30]their teachings have we been good catalogs brothers and sisters through our
[46:36]actions through our words through our history through our contributions have we
[46:42]demonstrated to this Society what im Hussein can offer ask yourself tonight
[46:51]brothers and sisters what can I do to change myself first of
[46:57]all and to change my society and to give a good image
[47:00]of my faith a real genuine image of my faith this is
[47:06]what the imams expect of us says without your tongues you don't
[47:15]need to even always speak through your actions and especially the respected
[47:21]sisters Allah is my witness when you're observing the hijab and you
[47:28]offer a good deed in your Society a charitable act a Act
[47:33]of humanity through your knowledge you dispel these misconceptions this has such
[47:39]a great value in the eyes of Allah subh let's take the
[47:45]flag of Al IM Hussein because the banner of Al IM Hussein
[47:51]invites everyone everyone is welcome to the path of ab abdah Hussein
[47:56]you talk about racism look what happened inala one of the companions
[48:05]of Al IM Hussein by the name of John the son of
[48:09]H or H this man was a slave owned by Abu he
[48:18]was a black slave he was with the IM he followed the
[48:23]IM he was in love with ab ab Hussein he could not
[48:29]leave the IM for a single minute when the IM left Medina
[48:34]he came with him when he went to Mecca he followed him
[48:37]he followed him all the way tobala the Imam told him oh
[48:45]John you can leave you joined us you were with us the
[48:48]bit so you can achieve security stability to achieve peace but tomorrow
[48:55]is a very very dangerous day they shall attack us and they
[48:59]shall kill us leave oh John you know what he does he
[49:06]falls at the feet of abdah Hussein he tells him say my
[49:08]master in good times I was with you I would eat from
[49:14]your food and now in difficult times you want me to betray
[49:17]you I won't betray you oh AB abdah on the day of
[49:22]Ash John comes to AB abdah Hussein see the unifying message of
[49:27]the Imam he welcomed everyone and these are wonderful Les lessons brothers
[49:33]and sisters for us to combat racism especially in that Society where
[49:38]people like John had absolutely no value he came to the Imam
[49:45]to farewell the IM the Imam initially refused him permission to go
[49:49]out to the battlefield but then the Imam he gave him the
[49:52]permission he told him oh John go and fight these enemies may
[49:58]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala illuminate your face on the day of judgment
[50:02]John goes out he fights so valiantly the love of Al IM
[50:08]Hussein is driving him when the enemies they surround him from every
[50:15]direction he falls to the ground he calls on imin he calls
[50:24]on the IM the IM am rushes to him the Imam sees
[50:29]him on the ground historians tell us the IM did something unique
[50:33]with this black man that he only did with his only with
[50:40]his son historians say the Imam came down to the ground he
[50:44]placed his cheek on the cheek of John and he told him
[50:49]oh John may Allah forgive you may Allah illuminate your face on
[50:54]the day of judgment he begins to [Music] cry he tells himd
[51:08]Hussein who's like me and the son the grandson of places his
[51:12]cheek on my cheek but this is the message of Al IM
[51:16]Hussein he invited everyone so one of the companions of the Imam
[51:24]he was aani one of the supporters ofman he was anti on
[51:27]the way tobala the Imam met him and he heard the message
[51:33]of the IM and he joined IM Hussein this is one of
[51:37]the companions of the IM it was open to everyone another of
[51:41]the companions of Al IM Hussein was wab wahab was originally a
[51:49]Christian when he heard the message of Al IM Hussein he embraced
[51:52]the message of Al IM Hussein on the day of as the
[51:58]mother of wahab told him my dear son wab what are you
[52:01]waiting for don't you want to illuminate my face before f z
[52:07]on the day of judgment I shall not be satisfied with you
[52:11]unless you go and fight alongside Al IM Hussein and be killed
[52:17]in his way but you know wab he had recently gotten married
[52:20]maybe just two months before that he was a new newly wet
[52:23]man his wife was was very disturbed she told him oh I
[52:29]beg you don't leave me we just got married let's share our
[52:35]lives together let's enjoy our life together I can't see you go
[52:38]and getting killed in front of you she she keeps begging him
[52:40]not to go but his mother keeps pushing him she tells him
[52:46]ohab I shall not be satisfied unless you go and you die
[52:51]with the companions of Al IM Hussein wab he farewells them he
[52:55]goes and he defends the IM when he was in the battlefield
[53:00]in his final moments he heard a voice coming from behind [Music]
[53:07]him he heard someone a familiar voice telling him ohab yes continue
[53:15]fighting continue fight defend the righteous people of Allah subhah wa ta'ala
[53:20]he turns his face he sees his wife Coming he's puzzled he's
[53:24]confused he tells her my dear wife just moments ago you were
[53:27]trying to stop me from defending Hussein what happened now I see
[53:36]you encouraging me she tells him oh do not blame me I
[53:38]say see that broke my heart I saw husin standing by the
[53:48]tent feeling so lonely [Music] in he tells her what what was
[53:56]husin saying what is it that he said that changed your position
[53:59]I saw this lonely man he said is there anyone to support
[54:13]us is there anyone to support these women and children oh go
[54:16]and fight and die in the way of Allah subh everyone together
[54:30]let's pay our salutations to Al IM Hussein and companions respected
