[0:01][Music] [Music] [Music] Sah.
[0:23][Music] [Music] peace be upon you.
[0:45]Oh my master and messenger of Allah peace be upon you and
[0:48]upon your pure noble and oppressed family the peace be upon you
[0:57]oh Abdillah the son of the messenger of Allah the the thirsty
[1:04]the oppressed Hussein in carbala though my body was not present in
[1:08]Kbala to answer your cry and call though My tongue could not
[1:15]speak in your defense.
[1:16]Today my heart, my hearing, and my eyes have all responded to
[1:23]your call together.
[1:26][Music] Everyone Hussein [Music] Hussein the daughter of Im Hussein.
[1:48]Where is the one my heart adored?
[1:53]She's asking about her father Hussein Ali.
[1:54]The one for whom my soul implored.
[1:59]I am the cherished of Hussein who will now answer me again.
[2:04]I long to rest upon his chest.
[2:10]His arms alone would bring me rest.
[2:14]My aching back who soothes its pain.
[2:17]It's not his hands so kind, so plain.
[2:20]I yearn for palms that wipe my tears, to whisper peace and
[2:27]calm my fears.
[2:30]To him I'd cry in grief and need.
[2:33]His love, his words my only creed.
[2:36]I slept in hope to see his face.
[2:42]I feel again his warm embrace.
[2:43]I dreamed of him so close, so near.
[2:50]and who seeks Hussein shall never fear.
[2:51]He came to me in sleep so bright with a promise wrapped
[2:56]in rays of light.
[3:00]Soon my daughter, you will be with me.
[3:04]Our wait shall end.
[3:04]Just wait and see.
[3:08]I walk in tears, my chest in flame, and cried aloud my
[3:13]father's name.
[3:15]Where is my love?
[3:16]Where did he go?
[3:17]He was just here.
[3:20]He can be.
[3:23]So they brought a tray and on it lay a cloth that
[3:25]veiled my soul away.
[3:29]They said, "Your father, here be glad." I pulled the veil and
[3:34]then went mad.
[3:36]Oh father mine, what did they do?
[3:41]Who dyed your face in bloods deep?
[3:43]Who who struck your neck?
[3:45]Who took your breath and sent your soul to bleed in death.
[3:52]Who broke your brow and dimmed your sight.
[3:56]Who took the red from beard once bright.
[4:01]Oh father, how you aged my days.
[4:04]My heart has turned a thousand grays.
[4:08]They set our tents ablaze in wrath.
[4:16]They chased me down the narrow path.
[4:18]I ran in fear.
[4:18]No arms to shield.
[4:22]Their whips my only faith to yield to Sham.
[4:27]They dragged me on a mule.
[4:30]My face exposed.
[4:28]My cries so cruel.
[4:33]Strangers stirred and cursed and spat.
[4:36]My veil was gone.
[4:37]Imagine that this one would shout the others strike their words like
[4:47]knives.
[4:44]Their hate alike of father captivity is pain.
[4:49]A bit better taste that will remain.
[4:52]But worse of all the sharpest blade, the lowliest of men displayed
[5:00]his hate for you.
[5:00]He dared to scream.
[5:03]Your blessed name was scorned.
[5:04]Oh, take me now.
[5:07]Now my soul is weak.
[5:07]Let me no longer suffer.
[5:11]Speak.
[5:12]Hold me again and let me sleep.
[5:14]Since you have gone, my wounds run deep.
[5:18]Your absence is the only peace.
[5:21]Let this orphaned soul finally seize.
[5:23]Beneath your breath.
[5:23]Let me now hide.
[5:27]Since you have gone, I've died inside.
[5:32]Im Jaffer said in the book of Im Ali it's written the
[5:42]people who face the most severe trials are the prophets and then
[5:49]their successors then the most virtuous in orderham in the name of
[6:01]Allah the entirely merciful The especially merciful, the one who has created
[6:05]and designed everything, the utmost perfection and the one who guided us
[6:09]to the light of Hussein, the ark of salvation and the light
[6:16]that keeping us on the straight path.
[6:18]I would like tonight to speak about the philosophy of trials and
[6:23]tribulations especially that the more we're heading toward the end of times
[6:26]and the more we're heading toward the arrival of al- Mahi the
[6:30]trials are becoming more severe and the pressures are increasing.
[6:36]So from the school of thought or from the tragedy of Kbala,
[6:39]one of the main lessons that we can derive from this tragedy
[6:43]is how we can stand to in a way steadfast against all
[6:50]these trials, tribulations and sufferings like Lady Zay.
[6:53]One of the most famous statements in human history that there is
[7:00]a lady taken captive.
[7:00]She lost all her family.
[7:05]And then the tyrant will ask her, "How did you witness what
[7:08]Allah did to your brother?" And she answered with confidence, "I saw
[7:13]nothing but beauty." Because lady Zan, she see God in everything and
[7:19]every word.
[7:21]Now, I imam said in the book of Im Alisam, it's written
[7:24]the people who face the most severe trials are who are the
[7:31]prophets.
[7:29]So the more you're closer to Allahhana ta the more you will
[7:35]face sufferings and then their successors and the most virtuous in order.
[7:43]So continue the hadith.
[7:44]Imam Ali said a believer is tested according to the extent of
[7:48]their good deeds.
[7:51]So he said whoever religion is sound so if you have a
[7:55]good religion protected religion if you're actually following the right religion of
[8:01]Allah subhana wa ta'ala and whose actions are righteous the tribulation is
[8:07]more severe.
[8:09]This is because Allah did not make this world a reward of
[8:12]a believer nor a punishment for the disbeliever.
[8:16]And then he continues and he says, "And the one whose faith
[8:21]is weak and whose intellect is light, their tribulations are lighter." Indeed,
[8:29]trials reach the righteous believer faster than rain reaches the earth.
[8:35]Now this hadith clarifies that trials are not sign of divine rejection
[8:42]but rather indication of the strength and worthiness and spiritual maturity.
[8:49]We have this ve very uh beautiful line in Arabic we said
[8:55]if Allah loved the servant he will put them through trials and
[9:02]tribulations.
[9:01]Now also the messenger of Allah peace be upon him he said
[9:05]you are not a true believer until you regard tribulations as a
[9:10]blessing and prosperity as a trial for the tribulation of this world
[9:19]is a blessing in the hereafter so you have to understand that
[9:25]to see things from the eye of Allahh that's what we call
[9:31]insight you see thing in The real image how say zana will
[9:35]see beheading cutting hands burning tents crushing chests and all of that
[9:45]she will see it beauty because she knows how Allah is looking
[9:53]at the essence of carbala that carbala this story will be the
[9:58]reason behind guiding hundreds of millions of people and keeping them on
[10:02]a straight path.
[10:04]Now this lady Zanab that we always portray in our Malis as
[10:07]if she was weak and depressed and crying with tears said Zanab
[10:11]after she saw Imam Hussein laying on the plains of Kerbala.
[10:17]She ran toward him from the tents she raised his back and
[10:20]she said oh Allah accept this sacrifice from us.
[10:23]That lady is a mountain of patience and she wasn't broken.
[10:29]Lady Zanab, she didn't lose her intellect for one second.
[10:33]She was the most sane individual after ashw.
[10:37]Now when Allah loves the servant, Allah tests them.
[10:44]Imam explained this truth to one of his companions.
[10:46]He says in Alfi, when Allah loves a servant, he drowns him
[10:53]in tribulations.
[10:54]Drowns completely.
[10:55]Indeed, we the imams and you our followers wake up and go
[11:01]to sleep in it on these tribulations and trials.
[11:05]So this reflects a fundamental spiritual law.
[11:08]Divine love is often accompanied by divine testing.
[11:12]Now Allah put who?
[11:16]On trials and tribulations.
[11:17]We mentioned that.
[11:21]But there is an essence for these trials and tribulations.
[11:23]And Imm Ali explains it perfectly.
[11:26]Imam Ali says tribulations for the oppressor, for someone who's oppressing is
[11:35]a discipline.
[11:35]And for the believer, the tribulation is a test.
[11:41]And for the prophets, it's a rank.
[11:45]You know, sometimes earthquake will hit an area.
[11:49]This is a tribulation where it will strike believers and non-believers, oppressed
[11:56]and oppressors.
[11:56]It's the same tribulation, but it will strike every soul differently.
[12:02]For the oppressor is a discipline.
[12:06]For the believer, it's a test and for the prophets, it's a
[12:10]rank.
[12:11]Now, the pious believer is tested more frequently.
[12:14]Imam Ali said tribulations comes to the pious believer faster than the
[12:20]rain to the ground.
[12:20]So from now I'm telling you if you consider your religion is
[12:25]sane and sound and you have a close rank between you and
[12:30]Allahh prepare yourselves for the in the in this dy.
[12:34]Now, subhan Allah, tribulations often brings spiritual purification, growth and resilience, divine
[12:48]nearness and direction, cleansing from our sins and reward and elevation in
[12:52]the hereafter.
[12:51]And we saw all of that in Kbal for example that repentance
[13:00]and facing that tribulation and trial with Im Hussein purified his sins
[13:07]and Allah accepted his repentance.
[13:09]Now what is the meaning of bal?
[13:12]This word balah bala can be translated into more than one word
[13:17]in English.
[13:18]It can be mean it can mean trial, tribulation, suffering, pressure, inflictions,
[13:24]difficulties, hardships, misery, tragedy.
[13:27]Some people call bad luck a trial.
[13:30]So we have to understand that every human being is breathing on
[13:37]this planet.
[13:37]He's in that.
[13:39]Now simply speaking, do we have physical needs that we are fulfilling
[13:48]on daily basis?
[13:46]That's a trial.
[13:50]That's a uh everything is bala.
[13:54]Your responsibilities is a pressure is balah.
[13:56]So when you're a son or a daughter in a house, you
[14:00]have responsibilities toward your parents.
[14:01]This is a bal.
[14:05]When you're a student, this is a when you go and start
[14:08]working in any field, this is ba because it's a responsibilities.
[14:14]uh marriage is raising kids and children is aah serving the community
[14:23]is a but prophets they looked at that as a we have
[14:28]that in the Quran good never look at bala in a negative
[14:32]way say saw it as a beauty she saw beauty how about
[14:37]me and you who's facing death 100% it's less than the tribulations
[14:44]that Albet face in Kbala.
[14:48]So definitely we have to see it lighter, easier, simpler and more
[14:53]beautiful.
[14:54]Now tribulation is a test or exam and it can be through
[14:57]good things or hardships.
[14:59]That's why Allah said a good trial in the Quran can prophets
[15:04]that's how they looked at it.
[15:05]So Allah may test us through a lot of things.
[15:08]illness, poverty, humiliation, loneliness, wealth, wealth is a so poverty is balah
[15:18]and being wealthy also it's a when you don't have resources to
[15:25]use in this land it's a when you have more resources it's
[15:27]a when you're a citizen this is a when you're a president
[15:33]this is a power fame leadership honor it's allah Uh-uh.
[15:39]Now, why does Allah test us?
[15:42]There's many reasons that we will be speaking about it inshallah.
[15:45]First, I want to ask you a question.
[15:48]We have two terms in the Quran.
[15:50]If you notice them, we have the term and we have the
[16:00]term.
[15:57]We say in Lebanese in that sense and can be translated to
[16:04]the same words in English.
[16:07]trials, tribulations, hardships.
[16:08]But there is very important distinction and different you have to differentiate
[16:16]between these two concepts in the Quran.
[16:19]Bala always is from Allah subhana tala.
[16:20]Balah you didn't cause it yourself.
[16:26]It was caused indirectly to you.
[16:28]Ma you brought that to yourself.
[16:30]Allah said in the Quran Any misery, let me just use that
[16:40]translation.
[16:41]Any misery you're afflicted with, it's because of what your hand caused.
[16:47]So sometimes I do something where it will reflect on me and
[16:54]I will harm myself because of that.
[16:56]That's a ma and be straightforward with you.
[17:00]committing suicide.
[17:01]This is not I can't call that a if I'm doing everything
[17:08]that Allahh ordered me to do and the conclusion was that I
[17:12]died this is a because I did everything Allahh is expecting from
[17:20]me to do why is not because Hassan did everything to remove
[17:26]these hardships from him and still they killed him unjustly.
[17:30]So for Hussein it's a for them it's a they caused killing
[17:35]the im of their time which led to the corruption of the
[17:38]nation that's a ma they caused it but for IM Hussein and
[17:45]his companions and his family this is a valad that they have
[17:48]to stay steadfast and be patient about it.
[17:51]So why we need to differentiate between both of them?
[17:55]Because unfortunately many of our youth unfortunately they will in the prerequisite
[18:03]level they will do wrong introductions which might lead that they might
[18:09]harm themselves and then they will blame Allah for it.
[18:13]Any pain is caused to me is from Allah.
[18:15]That's not true.
[18:18]Allah will never intend to harm any of his creation.
[18:22]Allah is the source of goodness, health, perfection, light, reformation, knowledge.
[18:34]The goodness is always coming from Allah to us.
[18:39]Evil is ascending from the creation toward the skies and the heavens.
[18:48]Allah said in surah Ash or Ashur verse 30 and whatever misfortune
[18:51]befalls you it is because of what your hands have earned and
[18:56]he pardons much.
[18:57]So what Allah do when I cause a ma to myself Allah
[19:03]reduce the harm.
[19:04]Allah decreases the harm.
[19:08]In another verse, Allah said, "Whatever good happens to you is from
[19:14]Allah and whatever bad happens to you is from yourself." True.
[19:19]Inah verse 79.
[19:21]And in Allahh says, "If the people of the town have believed
[19:28]and feared Allah, they were pious, we would indeed have opened to
[19:32]them blessings from the heavens and the earth.
[19:35]But they denied the truth and we seized them from what they
[19:38]used to earn.
[19:40]So even corruption at the social level, we brought it to ourselves.
[19:44]When the Muslims are not enjoining what is good, forbidding what is
[19:49]evil, they are bringing more harm to themselves.
[19:51]When the Muslims are divided, then they are weakening themselves which leading
[19:58]to the army of Satan and the to be able to take
[20:05]advantage of our division and weakness where it's causing harm to at
[20:10]least millions of Muslims around the globe.
[20:13]True.
[20:14]If now in this community the community did not come together and
[20:18]they enjoined what is good forbid what is evil and they paid
[20:22]zakat and they open a mosque where they can when they can
[20:25]educate their children about the true message of Islam then God forbid
[20:29]we will see our children are in a way losing their identity
[20:35]and corrupting themselves then we can say that we brought this ma
[20:39]to ourselves at the social level but when we come together unite
[20:43]and in a way put all forces together then we're able to
[20:49]protect the new generation and remove this from ourselves.
[21:00]I remember one of my friends in the Islamic seminary.
[21:04]He was trying to do a research trying to convince mankind that
[21:08]all afflictions it's caused by sins that humans commit.
[21:14]And I found his research from this hadith from Imam.
[21:19]Imam Ali said in sermon 142, "By Allah, no people have have
[21:28]ever lived in ease and then lost it, lost that ease except
[21:31]due to sins they committed.
[21:35]For Allah is never unjust to servants before we blame others." Unfortunately,
[21:42]sin is is in a way deceiving and smart.
[21:47]So when I do something wrong and I start witnessing the harm
[21:52]on myself whether physically, mentally, spiritually, psychologically, emotionally, socially, um the first
[21:59]thing sane will tell me try to blame others.
[22:02]If it didn't work, blame Allah, but do not blame yourself.
[22:06]They want me do not blame anyone.
[22:10]Do not blame Allah and blame myself.
[22:13]That's what want me to do because the only way for me
[22:15]to grow in this world to gain more skills experience to learn
[22:21]from my previous mistakes is to blame myself between me and Allah
[22:25]I I shouldn't stand in front of people start blaming myself imam
[22:28]Ali did not allow me to humiliate myself but between me and
[22:33]myself between me and Allah subhana wa tala now trials either caused
[22:39]by us by our free Well, by our choice, poor choices or
[22:45]it's caused by natural events.
[22:50]Imam Ali said as we said tribulation is for the oppressor is
[22:53]a discipline for the believer is a test for the prophet a
[22:56]rank and for the saints is an honor.
[23:01]Now that's why subhan Allah it purifies the believer elevates the prophet
[23:05]and honor the saint.
[23:09]Now why do Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala test us put us in
[23:16]trials and tribulations and there is eight benefits and fruits for trials
[23:32]and tribulations and there's also couple reasons why Allah put us through
[23:37]trials and tribulations.
[23:37]First when Allah look at us and he sees that me and
[23:47]you naturally we start becoming more attached to this duny.
[23:52]Naturally we become attached.
[23:55]Let me tell you why.
[23:56]Every day we wake up we take care of our personal hygiene.
[24:01]We eat, drink, go to school, go to work, come back.
[24:03]We have weekly schedule that we are following in an organized manner
[24:07]and that's success.
[24:09]But unfortunately naturally because all the images in my head are from
[24:16]this duny.
[24:15]So naturally I feel that physically I belong to this place and
[24:22]I don't want to leave this place.
[24:24]True.
[24:22]So because of these attachments, Allahh from time to time to keep
[24:30]me detached, he will bring trials and tribulations and that's a good
[24:33]thing that's not a bad thing.
[24:35]We have a a famous story in the Quran for his name
[24:41]is weird and unfortunately his ending also was weird like his name.
[24:46]So that individual he had part of the knowledge of the book
[24:50]he had spiritual powers.
[24:52]Unfortunately, he ended his life.
[24:59]Allah describing the way he his life ended.
[25:03]He clung to the earth and followed his desires.
[25:09]Hakr the great philosopher he says that we have two forces within
[25:17]us.
[25:18]There's the physical force always pushing me toward the earth and there's
[25:23]the spiritual force always attracting me toward the heavens and the skies.
[25:28]The believer has to build that balance between the physical and the
[25:32]metaphysical forces.
[25:34]So you can't prioritize but the more you grow and you become
[25:38]closer to death you have to pri prioritize being attracted toward the
[25:43]spiritual realms.
[25:45]Now definitely when you're younger you're still more physical energy desires dreams
[25:54]you need to um accomplish a lot of these objectives that you
[26:00]dreaming of.
[26:01]But as believers we have to help you discipline yourself to create
[26:06]that balance between body soul between physic physical and spiritual realms.
[26:11]Now test also help free the soul.
[26:16]Pain, sickness and problems can make us less attached to this temporary
[26:24]life.
[26:22]And that's why the believer must always prioritize the give you an
[26:29]example logically, rationally when when I go visit, let me give you
[26:34]an example.
[26:34]I went to visit a sick person in the hospital.
[26:37]When I'm sitting there, I'm p I'm pondering and reflecting on my
[26:40]reality.
[26:42]Logically, my mind will reject weakness, will reject limitness, will reject that
[26:51]the human being in that sense is poor, needy.
[26:56]So always the intellect is looking at a realm that less needy,
[27:02]less limited, more stronger in that sense.
[27:07]uh in Islam one of the main descriptions of paradise that you
[27:11]will be your soul will be put in a very strong body
[27:16]less limited you will not be sick in paradise you will not
[27:19]feel that you're weak even you don't yawn in paradise because you
[27:27]don't feel that that's in a way drowsiness or yes we will
[27:30]sleep there but we will not feel that we're weak we have
[27:34]we don't have the needs that we have on this planet because
[27:37]our intellect is yearning for that.
[27:39]Now Allah when he put us on trials and tribulations in this
[27:45]duny, he's trying to remind my intellect that continue rejecting the state
[27:51]you're in in this duny.
[27:52]So when you're attached to this, you're being attached to what?
[27:57]Using the bathroom, forgive my language, I'm being honest with you.
[28:00]or or taking vitamins to stay energetic or what y you're attached
[28:08]to take a shower at least every day or twice a day
[28:10]especially in summertime when we're sweating a lot so we can feel
[28:18]that we're refreshed in that sense how someone with sane intellect he
[28:22]will be convinced or she will be convinced to be attached to
[28:24]this dy there's a lot of disgusting examples that I will not
[28:31]go through but you and reflect on this point.
[28:34]Hardships they wake us up.
[28:35]We have a lot of you they are distracted.
[28:38]They are living in fantasies.
[28:42]Unfortunately, we say they are living in denial.
[28:45]They create a fake realm from their imagination and they follow these
[28:55]imaginary images in their minds and they forget that any moment I
[28:59]can die.
[29:00]Any moment I can get paralyzed, any moment I can just in
[29:06]a way lose my energy and lose that ambition and be in
[29:10]a different realm.
[29:11]Especially those who live in Middle East and the past two years.
[29:15]If you want to ask individuals what if you want to ask
[29:21]certain individuals to explain to you the reality of life ask Im
[29:24]Hussein's companions in Kbalah and ask people in they will tell you
[29:31]actually the reality of lifeham so hardships reduce our love for this
[29:39]world increases our connection to Allah and the unseen world help us
[29:45]focus on what really matters ers our soul in the next life.
[29:49]Now how the body becomes stronger.
[29:54]You know individuals that they are more tested when they were young,
[29:59]life will become easier when they are old.
[30:00]And the less you are tested when you're young, life will become
[30:05]harder when you become old.
[30:05]Explain it in a very simple way.
[30:07]When you face a lot of problems when you're young and you
[30:12]learn how to solve it, then when you grow, you will still
[30:14]face the same exact problems, but it will become easier because you
[30:19]know how to solve it.
[30:20]But if you have less skills, less experience, spoiled in a negative
[30:29]way, and your parents was trying to remove all these pressures from
[30:34]you to to to to make your life become paradise.
[30:39]Know that these parents are making your life harder when you move
[30:43]out, for example.
[30:45]That's why it's best thank Allah subhana wa ta'ala if you're under
[30:51]22 years old and you're facing certain trials and tribulations thank Allah
[30:56]for that prophet Muhammad said no servant is honored by Allah unless
[31:10]trials increases upon them.
[31:11]Imam Sodic added, "The believer is like a balance scale.
[31:17]The stronger their faith, the heavier their test." So trials and tribulations
[31:22]will give you keys, doors to grow, steps to higher ranks, path
[31:27]to purity, signs of love from Allah subhana tala.
[31:32]The first fruit of the trials and tribulations is spiritual nourishment and
[31:39]growth.
[31:40]Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasall said indeed Allah nourishes his believing servant
[31:48]through trials just as a mother nourishes her child with milk.
[31:52]Also second benefit of trials and tribulations suppression of arrogance.
[31:58]Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam said if not for three things in
[32:03]the son of Adam nothing will humble him.
[32:06]Now in Arabic it said nothing you know when you raise your
[32:14]head with pride and arrogance.
[32:15]So there's a three things that will break that will humble you
[32:21]down.
[32:20]Illness, death and poverty.
[32:24]All three dwell within him and with them he is subdued.
[32:31]Now three purification for sins.
[32:33]If now Allah knows how many sins I've committed and Allah, he
[32:39]is the one who has the keys to purify them.
[32:40]True.
[32:42]When prophet Ibraim said, "When I become sick, he heals me." He's
[32:48]not speaking about physical, biological sickness only.
[32:50]He's talking about spiritual, psychological, mental, emotional sickness.
[32:57]Allah, he has the key to, he knows how to heal me.
[33:02]That's why I im Ali said, "Praise be to Allah who purifies
[33:08]the sins of our Shia through tribulations in this world so that
[33:12]their obedience remain intact and they become worthy of reward." Imam Ali
[33:17]thanking Allah that he put the followers of Albat through tribulations to
[33:23]remove their sins for pathway to divine honor andess.
[33:29]Imam Sadi said indeed his trials are filled with eternal honors and
[33:35]his hardships inherit his pleasure and closeness even if that closeness is
[33:42]delayed.
[33:41]Five divine wisdom and servants well-being.
[33:45]Immiam quoted Allah's revelation to Moses.
[33:49]He said, "I know what is best for my servant.
[33:53]Let him be patient with my tribulation, grateful for my blessings and
[33:59]content with my decree." Six, we mentioned that that trials tribulations detach
[34:04]us from this uh temporary dunya.
[34:06]And seven, deepened remembrance and devotion to Allah.
[34:11]When we are in a way distracted away from Allah subhana wa
[34:18]ta'ala, when we are tested and pressured, we remember to ask Allahh
[34:21]for ease.
[34:22]So we turn to Allah with sincerity and we intensify their supplication
[34:27]with dua and deepen solely on their Lord.
[34:31]Girael once brought the keys of the earth treasures to the prophet
[34:34]Muhammad peace be upon him who refused them preferring the path of
[34:39]devotion over wealth.
[34:43]over wealth.
[34:45]Eight elevated rank through sacrifice and suffering.
[34:50]There's a person who did not attend to the mosque of the
[34:56]prophet for three days because he was sick.
[34:59]When he came, Prophet Muhammad told him, "Welcome to the one who
[35:06]were purified because of his illness." We have this in our tradition
[35:13]that when you go to pilgrimage or to Zara and you get
[35:15]sick, this is a sign of acceptance.
[35:19]Imm Hussein saw his grandfather the prophet in a dream he said
[35:24]you have a rank in paradise that cannot be reached except through
[35:29]martyrdom through these pressures trials and tribulations.
[35:32]Now finally trials youth that they face today one the intellectual trials
[35:42]and tribulations which is losing their identity and purpose of creation and
[35:48]I think we spoke about it yesterday answering who am I what
[35:56]I'm even doing with my life the crisis is that youth today
[35:59]feel lost in a world of trends fame and emptiness.
[36:04]They seek validation online but not within.
[36:10]Karbala taught us that find your identity through your stand, your purpose
[36:14]and not likes but loyalty to the truth.
[36:17]Im Hussein didn't care if people will be pleased with his revolution
[36:22]or not.
[36:23]He was pleasing Allah and Allah forced all mankind to be pleased
[36:27]with his movement.
[36:29]Now that's why Im Hass in he told his companions you're free
[36:35]to leave.
[36:35]He wasn't seeking validation from anyone.
[36:38]He wasn't trying to please anyone.
[36:41]But they one of them responded, "Oh, Hussein, even if I was
[36:48]killed 70 times and my body was burned and I became ashes
[36:52]and they resurrect me 70 times, I wouldn't leave you alone.
[36:59]Oh Hussein.
[36:59]Now second trial and tribulation that our youth face temptation and sin
[37:07]lusts distractions.
[37:06]I keep messing up.
[37:10]I feel so far from Allahhana tala.
[37:11]Crisis youth fall into sin due to peer pressure, media and spiritual
[37:18]distance.
[37:16]Guilt keeps them from returning.
[37:19]By the way, there is negative guilt.
[37:21]There is positive guilt.
[37:23]There is positive guilt that will keep pushing you forward to become
[37:28]number one.
[37:27]Racing, rushing, working hard on yourself to reform and change.
[37:34]That's what Islam want from you.
[37:35]That's why Islam told you do not share your sins with anyone.
[37:38]Keep it between you and Allah.
[37:41]And don't let Satan use that guilt in a negative way, weaken
[37:46]you, make you in a way uh depressed because you're disobeying Allah.
[37:52]Allah promised us million times that he will forgive us.
[37:55]The easiest thing that Allah will do to us is purifying us
[38:01]and forgiving us.
[38:02]Don't let Satan make you in a way question this or doubt
[38:09]this.
[38:08]Three, mental health is also one of the trials and tribulations and
[38:14]sufferings that unfortunately youth are facing these days.
[38:18]Anxiety, depression, feeling empty.
[38:19]Now loneliness can be resolved.
[38:24]I was talking to our brother that many youth they found their
[38:28]purpose at the individual level but remember you have an individual self
[38:33]and you have a social self.
[38:37]So that's why serving for example in the community serving in mosques
[38:41]is the best place for youth to find their purpose at the
[38:45]social level.
[38:47]Now school, career, family, marriage, children, it's all your purpose at the
[38:53]individual level.
[38:53]But you always feel there's something missing.
[38:55]What is missing is your purpose at the social level.
[38:59]Serve in mosques.
[39:01]Spread the message of Hussein and B and you will feel that
[39:04]energy within that you found your purpose at the social level.
[39:11]Doubt in religion or faith crisis.
[39:13]Im Hussein so injustice with his own eyes yet never doubted Allah.
[39:18]If there is a lesson we can learn from Ashw is even
[39:23]if they are burning my body and I'm facing all that pain
[39:30]from that burn I will still turn to Allah because I believe
[39:33]that the source of misery is the creation of Allah is not
[39:40]Allah himself.
[39:40]Now five, peer pressure and isolation for being religious.
[39:45]Six, family issues or feeling misunderstood at home.
[39:51]Seven, no role models or direction.
[39:52]And inshallah we will have part two about this lecture tomorrow.
[39:59]But I want to move to say that those daughters and those
[40:07]orphans who were taken to Shem they said after the massacre of
[40:13]Kbalah after the men of the were slaughtered and the women were
[40:18]taken captive the survivors imams the women the children they kept they
[40:24]didn't make the children see what happened in ash and they kept
[40:31]that in a way confidential and secret.
[40:32]Some young children were asking where is my father, where is my
[40:38]uncle, where is my brother etc.
[40:39]And they used to tell them that they traveled.
[40:43]So the caretakers of these children tried to hide the brutal truth
[40:48]when a child would cry out.
[40:49]Among these children was a little girl just three years old.
[40:54]Her name was the beloved daughter of Imam Hussein.
[41:00]He loved her dearly and she loved nothing more in this world
[41:04]than to be held in the arms of Abdah Hussein.
[41:08]She had been with her father on the journey from Medina to
[41:13]Karbala and she had witnessed the tents set a flame, the cries
[41:16]of her aunts and the silence that followed after the sword of
[41:21]the enemy fell.
[41:21]But she was too young to understand, too young to know what
[41:27]death meant, and too young to know that she would never see
[41:30]her father's arm again in this world.
[41:33]When the caravan of captives reached Shem, Damascus, they were placed in
[41:39]a ruined Yazid tried always to humiliate the bait.
[41:43]Abandoned house near the palace of Yazid, a dark, rofless corner that
[41:50]would soon witness tragedy yet again.
[41:52]Night fell.
[41:52]The children wept from hunger, fatigue, and fear.
[41:56]But among them, Rukaya could not stop crying.
[42:00]Every night her cries echoed.
[42:01]Where is my father?
[42:02]Where is my father?
[42:04]The woman, especially Lady Zanab, would try to console her.
[42:07]He has gone on a journey, my love.
[42:10]He will return soon.
[42:13]One night as the silence of captivity weigh heavily on them.
[42:18]Raya awoke screaming from her sleep.
[42:20]Her face pale, her small hands trembling, her voice desperate.
[42:25]Bring me my father.
[42:27]I just saw him.
[42:30]He was here.
[42:28]Please, I want my father.
[42:32]Any father in this room, if you have a daughter that close
[42:35]to three years old, will connect deeply with this.
[42:39]Her sobing grew louder.
[42:40]Her heart shattered with longing.
[42:42]The other children and women began to cry with her.
[42:46]The sound of grief froze so high that it reached the ears
[42:49]of Yazid who was disturbed from his sleeping.
[42:52]When he was told what had happened, he gave a cold and
[42:58]grew older.
[42:56]Take the head of her father and place it in front of
[43:02]her.
[43:03]Let her be confronted by it.
[43:04]A servant entered the ruined house carrying something wrapped in clothes.
[43:09]He approached the little girl and placed the bundle before her.
[43:15]She looked up confused and afraid and said, "I asked for my
[43:19]father, not for food." The servant replied with a broken voice, "This
[43:23]is your father." She gently opened the cloer.
[43:27]It was the severed head of her beloved father, Im Hussein.
[43:34]blooded bruised and dust still clenching to his hair.
[43:39]Her eyes froze, her small hands shook.
[43:43]"What is this?" she whispered.
[43:44]"It is the heart of your father," they told her.
[43:49]She reached out with trembling arms, lifted the head of her father,
[43:53]pulled it close to her chest, and pressed her lips to his.
[43:59]Then she cried, "Oh my father, who cut your blessed neck.
[44:01]Oh my father.
[44:04]Oh, stain your face with blood.
[44:05]Oh my father, they made me an orphan so young.
[44:10]Oh my father, who is left for this little girl who will
[44:15]protect the uncovered woman, who will defend the lost and the exiled?
[44:21]Her voice trembled.
[44:20]Oh father, I now know that you are gone.
[44:24]But why did they show me this?
[44:29]Why did they break me in this way?
[44:32]She continued to weep.
[44:32]Not the cry of a spoiled child, but the cry of an
[44:37]orphan whom had death face to face.
[44:39]They brought the tray.
[44:42]Oh, ant of mine.
[44:41]I knew the scent.
[44:45]It was a sign.
[44:45]Why does my heart break at the view?
[44:48]This clothes is soaked in blood.
[44:53]So true.
[44:52]What's with the tray, the food, the bowl?
[44:55]Oh, and I only seek my soul.
[45:01]I miss my father can endure.
[45:02]My guide is lost.
[45:03]My pain is pure.
[45:05]And then silence.
[45:07]She clung to the head, laid down beside it, put her cheek
[45:14]to his, and wept until her soul left her body.
[45:16][Music] It is as if Imam Zirin turned with a trembling voice
[45:23]to his aunt Lady Zab and said, "Dear and Zab lift this
[45:31]orphan child from beside the head of my father, for she had
[45:35]just left this world." Zab froze, her heart shattered again.
[45:41]Oh Zab, prepare yourself for another tragedy.
[45:46]O Zab the little one has died.
[45:55]Oh Zab the child Raya has joined her father in she approached
[45:59]and saw her silent still her tiny arms wrapped around the severed
[46:03]head of her father.
[46:06]Her lips pressed to his.
[46:07]Her eyes had closed in grief and her soul had departed.
[46:13]Oh my brother Hussein, even after captivity, the trials have not ended.
[46:21]Even now the heart of your sister Zab is tested again and
[46:30]again.
[46:28]Imam Z wept and said, "Oh aunt, I will bathe her with
[46:34]my own hands.
[46:36]I will prepare her for burial though she is only a child."
[46:40]He asked for a woman to help with theul.
[46:43]So now say and another woman are doing for the three years
[46:50]old daughter.
[46:51]And when they removed her clothing, the woman graped and pulled back.
[46:57]Zanab asked, "Why did you hesitate?" The woman replied, "I fear she
[47:01]may have suffered from an illness.
[47:02]For I see her ribs bruised and blue." Zanab, chalking on her
[47:07]tears, replied, "No, there is no illness.
[47:09]What you see is from the lashes of the whips in Kufa.
[47:15]These are the marks left by the guards when they struck her
[47:21]for a crying for our father Hussein.
[47:26][Music] To God we belong and him shall return.
[47:42]We send the reward of chapter al fat for the pure souls
[47:46]of our deceased especially the oppressed and the martyrs after Muhammad Ali
[47:53]Muhammad.
