[5:58]thank you according to a narration the martyrdom of imam al hassan

[7:51]alaihi salam is on the seventh of safar and these days we

[7:58]are in the days of mourning of abba abdullah al hussain and

[8:02]the family of imam al hussain and we have to give our

[8:06]fair share of mourning to imam al hassan alaihi salam who is

[8:13]often forgotten by the shia let alone those who do not consider

[8:20]themselves the of the my dear brothers and sisters imam al hassan

[8:26]alaihi salam was the imam of imam al hussain and he is

[8:32]greater than imam al hussain because he was the imam the leader

[8:37]of imam al hussain alaihi salam and the role of imam al

[8:42]hassan in leading the way and paving the way for the day

[8:48]of ashura and legitimizing the movement of imam al hussain is very

[8:53]great if it was not for the certain actions that were performed

[8:58]by imam al hassan alaihi salam then imam al hussain's movement would

[9:03]not have legitimacy and this is why as followers of the and

[9:09]as muslims we have to know our leaders we have to know

[9:14]who the are because allah subhanahu wa ta'ala orders every muslim to

[9:19]show love to the every muslim every person who believes in allah

[9:29]must show love to the is it's obligatory who are the qurbah

[9:44]for many muslims they don't even know who the qurbah of the

[9:46]prophets are they don't know who the ahlul bayt are or they

[9:49]do know and they ignore them and within the shia you tell

[9:53]them the who do they tell you they say imam ali and

[9:56]imam al hussein and maybe fatima to zahra where's imam al hassan

[10:01]where's imam al bakr where's imam al saddam where's imam al hadi

[10:04]where's imam jawad where's imam askari a lot of us we don't

[10:08]know about these imams and we need to learn about the lives

[10:12]of our imams because there will come a time in our life

[10:17]and in our afterlife where we will be asked about the names

[10:22]of the imams you know when you go to a cemetery have

[10:25]you gone to the cemetery there's one last step that is performed

[10:30]before the soil is poured on the person and that is that

[10:37]the person is asked who their imams are who their leaders are

[10:42]and you need to be able to answer you need to be

[10:45]able to know who your leaders are when the angels ask you

[10:49]who your imams are you need to be able to say all

[10:52]of them starting with rasulullah all the way to imam al mahdi

[10:55]muhammad so we need to know about the lives of our imams

[11:09]and we need to learn about the life of imam al hassan

[11:12]alaihi salam unfortunately many of us don't know much about the life

[11:15]of imam al hassan what the very short time that we have

[11:20]if we want to look at at the life of imam al

[11:23]hassan we would probably have to divide and categorize the life of

[11:28]imam al hassan into three categories one category is his life when

[11:34]he lived up until the death of rasulullah and this was a

[11:39]very important time for imam al hassan imam al hassan was born

[11:44]into a household where his grandfather was the prophet the head of

[11:50]state the head of the military and rasulullah would show extensive love

[11:58]to imam al hassan and imam al hussain in front of all

[12:00]the muslims in front of all the muslims rasulullah would would to

[12:06]some might say spoil the so imam al hassan he was he

[12:14]was the grandson of and there are many sayings where rasulullah praises

[12:23]him hassan and hussein are the masters of the youth of paradise

[12:31]i love my son hassan and allah loves the one who loves

[12:35]my son hassan rasulullah would keep telling people that so this was

[12:39]one stage in the life of imam al hassan where he was

[12:42]under the guardianship and protection of his grandfather rasulullah the second stage

[12:50]in the life of imam al hassan alaihi salam was after the

[12:55]death of the prophet after the death of the prophet all the

[12:58]way until the martyrdom of amir al mumineen and this was a

[13:03]very difficult stage for all of the all of the because as

[13:09]soon as rasulullah left this world the people turned against the it's

[13:17]as if they treated them as if rasulullah told people when i

[13:21]die i want you to abuse and harass my family this is

[13:25]how they treated them otherwise days after the death of rasulullah the

[13:30]household of fatima to zahra the house of fatima was attacked amir

[13:34]al mumineen his haq was taken away from him imam al hassan

[13:37]and imam al hussain became normal kids they were not treated the

[13:42]same way that rasulullah had treated them and this was a very

[13:46]difficult time for imam al hassan and the because right after the

[13:53]death of the prophet fatima she is also murdered and imam al

[14:00]he grows older and older and older but he sees his father

[14:04]his father the man who built islam with rasulullah the man who

[14:10]was the first to believe the first to accept the first to

[14:14]do everything with the prophet he's pushed aside and other people who

[15:04]something that was very heartbreaking but during the imam of amir al

[15:08]mumin once the uthman was killed by the muslims the muslims they

[15:12]came begging for imam ali to take power here we see the

[15:17]role of imam al hassan emerges amir al mumineen he is the

[15:21]khalifa he is the leader but now amir al mumineen people they

[15:25]come and they ask him questions he tells them go to my

[15:28]son hassan go to my son hassan amir al mumineen he wants

[15:32]to highlight the importance of the children of rasulullah in the battle

[15:39]in the battle of jamal or in the battle of saffin amir

[15:42]al mumineen is worried for imam al hassan and imam al hussein

[16:29]hassan and imam al hussein in front of all of them even

[16:32]with his own sons but of course imam al hassan even though

[16:37]in the battle of jamal amir al mumineen would keep him behind

[16:40]so that he does not not get hurt but it was imam

[16:44]al hassan who ended the war it was his bravery today some

[16:49]people they come and they say imam al hassan was not brave

[16:52]imam al hussein is brave he is the one who went and

[16:54]fought we can't say that the imams they're appointed by allah and

[16:59]everyone of them has a specific duty to perform so in the

[17:05]battle of jamal the wife of the prophet she was sitting on

[17:10]a camel and this camel had tribe a full tribe hundreds of

[17:16]people they were protecting that camel and as long as she's on

[17:20]the camel people are continuing to fight imam ali they continue to

[17:23]fight amir al mumineen and by the hour hundreds and hundreds of

[17:27]muslims were being killed and this was the first civil war in

[17:30]islam amir al mumineen he gives a spear he gives a spear

[17:36]to his son muhammad ibn al hanafia he tells him go and

[17:40]bring down the camel he can't tell him go and kill the

[18:25]goes out in the middle of the battlefield fighting the imam of

[18:28]her time anyways muhammad he comes back bringing the spear he has

[18:36]not done anything imam al hassan he tells him give it to

[18:40]al hassan give it to my son al hassan so he gives

[18:45]the spear to imam al hassan imam al hassan he goes he

[18:48]enters into the battlefield and he strikes the camel bringing it down

[18:54]he comes back he comes back with blood dripping from the end

[18:58]of the spear and here muhammad abdul hanafia he has his head

[19:03]down he feels the shame because this was a task that he

[19:08]was ordered to do but he was not able to do it

[19:11]imam tells him don't be embarrassed al hassan is the son of

[19:20]muhammad he is the son of rasulullah and you are the son

[19:22]of ali so don't be embarrassed that you were not able to

[19:26]achieve that he is he is the grandson of so effectively imam

[19:34]al hasan ended the battle of jamal in the battle of safeen

[19:38]imam al hasan had a role in the battle of nahrawan imam

[19:41]al hasan had a role until now imam al hassan becomes the

[19:52]fifth according to muslims the non shia muslims he is considered the

[19:56]fifth khalifa in islam after he is considered the fifth khalifa of

[20:02]course for us he is the second imam of the albiid we

[20:04]don't accept anyone other than and then imam al hassan after but

[20:10]the circumstances that imam al hassan was living in were very difficult

[20:15]circumstances very difficult times where imam al hassan within a few months

[20:22]within six to eight months he had to abdicate the position of

[20:27]khilafa leadership muawiyah took power imam al hassan he goes to medina

[20:32]he leaves kufa and he goes to medina and he makes a

[20:35]peace treaty with muawiyah and when he makes the peace treaty with

[20:39]some of the shia some of the people who called themselves the

[20:45]shia of the al bayt they started harassing and abusing imam al

[20:50]hassan one of them he comes to him he tells him peace

[20:58]be upon you oh one who humiliated the believers imagine imam al

[21:03]hassan he is the imam he is the grandson of the prophet

[21:07]someone he tells him that so imam al hassan he he replies

[21:14]he replies he says i am not the one who humiliates the

[21:23]believers i am the one who brings dignity and glory to the

[21:27]believers he says once i saw that you cannot fight them you

[21:42]cannot stand against muawiyah because what was muawiyah doing stood against muawiyah

[21:48]muawiyah he made the issue of takim and he fooled the people

[21:53]while imam ali was there he raised the qurans in the middle

[21:57]of the battlefield some people they said we can't fight them as

[22:00]long as they have the qurans raised so then once passes away

[22:04]imam is ready to go out and fight but muawiyah starts paying

[22:10]he starts paying the soldiers the army the generals who were supposed

[22:15]to be with imam al hassan one of them was his own

[22:18]cousin you've all heard of ibn abbas the brother of abdullah ibn

[22:24]abbas obeyed allah ibn abbas he took money from mawiya and the

[22:29]plan was as soon as the battle begins they're going to handcuff

[22:33]imam al hassan and him over to ma'awiyah what would happened it

[22:38]would have been caused and imam al hassan would have been humiliated

[22:43]so imam al hassan he tells them no i made a treaty

[22:46]i gave up my own haq i gave up my own right

[22:49]to preserve your lives he says just as in the story of

[23:08]prophet musa and the the the he comes and he punctures the

[23:13]boat he punctures the boat why so that the boat could remain

[23:18]if the boat is healthy intact they would have taken it away

[23:23]so imam al hassan he had to make a political decision it

[23:28]was difficult and all of the decisions that the made were difficult

[23:33]at times imam al hussain made a very difficult decision amir al

[23:38]mumine amir al mumine could have fought against those people who took

[23:42]the but he made a difficult decision and then he says so

[23:52]imam al hassan he had to make a treaty with to end

[23:58]the fighting to end the suffering so that thousands of the shia

[24:02]would remain and they would not be killed and of course this

[24:05]imam al hassan was not the person who made a treaty with

[24:09]someone who was wrong didn't make the treaty of hadebia rasulullah signed

[24:14]the treaty of hadebia so sometimes you have to take that bitter

[24:20]pill to swallow for the better good and this is what we

[24:24]learn from the and the fact that imam al hassan signed that

[24:31]treaty with of course there were many conditions one of the conditions

[24:36]in treaty was that after the death of muawiyah the leadership the

[24:42]khilafa has to go back to either imam al hassan or if

[24:46]imam al hassan is not around it goes to imam al hussein

[24:49]so when he appointed yazid that was against the treaty that was

[24:55]agreed upon by so no muslim person could come and say that

[25:01]is a legitimate ruler for the muslims and imam al bakr he

[25:07]al says what my uncle al hassan did is better for the

[25:19]than anything that sees the light of the sun so my dear

[25:23]brothers and sisters imam al hassan he goes back to medina and

[25:30]he begins to teach people islam but in his own way you

[25:34]don't have to be in power the al baith imam ali for

[25:38]over twenty four years he was not in power he teaches us

[25:42]that you don't have to be in the position of authority to

[25:45]to represent islam and represent rasulullah imam al hassan he goes back

[25:53]and he teaches people the of islam the true essence of islam

[25:57]he teaches people the essence of forgiving one day a man comes

[27:39]from sham from damascus and he begins to curse imam al hassan

[27:43]he begins to curse him he curses at imam al mumineen imam

[27:48]al hussain imam al hassan he tells him you seem to be

[27:53]a stranger it seems that you're not in this land you're not

[27:57]from this land if you need anything come to us and we

[28:01]will give you whatever come to us the man was shocked he

[28:12]was cursing at imam al hassan and imam al hassan he begins

[28:17]to treat this person with love and compassion and this is what

[28:19]the quran teaches us allah tells us repel evil with good if

[28:33]it will turn a a relationship of animosity into love and then

[28:38]allah says in the quran if you want to be able to

[28:48]forgive those who have oppressed you you need to have patience and

[28:52]you need to have luck that means god needs to bless you

[28:56]that means god needs to support you god needs to be there

[28:59]for you in your life my dear brothers and sisters imam al

[29:02]hassan we don't have time salat time imam al hassan alaihi salam

[29:07]was oppressed he was oppressed even until now imam al hassan was

[29:15]oppressed imam al hassan was oppressed by the they oppressed him and

[29:20]also oppressed imam al hassan as well why because the descendants of

[29:25]imam al hassan his grandchildren they revolted against ben al abbas so

[29:30]they started making false propaganda against imam al hassan and until today

[29:36]many of the shias don't appreciate imam al hassan they don't know

[29:39]the hadith the words of imam al hassan as long as imam

[29:44]al hassan was alive was uncomfortable because he was as long as

[29:50]he was there does not have the freedom because there was the

[29:53]treaty that was signed so he decides to poison imam al hassan

[29:59]he sends a letter to the emperor of rome the roman emperor

[30:10]the roman emperor he replies to him he tells him we have

[30:14]a poison that is so severe that in our religion we don't

[30:18]give it to anyone we can't use it we can't use it

[30:36]emperor he sends that poison to and he employs jada jawada who

[30:52]i will marry you to my son yazid she goes and she

[30:56]does that later on she tells him give me the money he

[30:59]tells her i will give you the money but i will not

[31:01]give you my son yazid my son is dear to me you

[31:04]could not be trusted with the grandson of the prophet now you

[31:07]want to come and marry my son yazid imam al hassan alaihi

[31:14]salam was poisoned and he was fasting she gave him the poison

[31:20]and the poison began to seep through his body as the poison

[31:25]began to seep through his body he called upon his family he

[31:29]called upon bani hashem to come and as they all came his

[31:35]sister zainab she came in there was a bull that was filled

[31:40]with his blood that he was vomiting because of the pain when

[31:44]zainab came imam al hassan he removed it because he knows zainab

[31:49]does not zaynab's heart cannot be broken how can she see the

[31:55]blood in front of her like that only if time will come

[32:01]and tell that zaynab she had to see the head of imam

[32:04]al hussain as well in a bull imam al hussain he sees

[32:10]his brother imam al hassan in that state he begins to cry

[32:15]imam al hassan he tells him don't cry for me oh my

[32:18]brother i cry for you when 30,000 are going to gather to

[32:23]fight you and kill you and then imam al hassan he gives

[32:28]his wasiyah he says if you're able to bury me next to

[32:31]rasulallah then do so and if you can't then bury me next

[32:36]to my my my grandmother fatima bin to asad in al baqi

[32:41]imam al hassan passes away then imam al hussein he washes his

[32:47]body they're ready to take him next to the grave of rasulullah

[32:53]they carry his janaza they carry his casket as they go next

[33:01]to the house of rasulullah the lady she comes out and she

[33:07]says take away from my home the one who i do not

[33:10]like and marwan ibn al hakam he orders for the arrows to

[33:14]be shot the caskets of imam al hassan so imam al hussain

[33:20]he orders them to take the caskets and the body of imam

[33:27]al hassan all the way to the baqi he places imam al

[33:32]hassan in his grave and then imam al hussain he lays next

[33:36]to his brother and in the grave next to him he places

[33:40]his cheek on the cheek of imam al hassan and he begins

[33:44]to say imam al hussain you buried your brother imam al hassan

[34:46]and you could not stand what imam al hassan went through what

[34:50]happened to the body of imam al hassan on the imam hussain

[34:53]on the day of aashura the body of imam al hussain was

[34:57]left for three days in the land of karbala without burial inshaallah

[36:00]we will go to pray and then the dua is after dua

[36:03]kumain tomorrow inshallah tomorrow night with salah and then after salah there

[36:08]is a majlis for imam al hassan in the arabic language by

[36:11]my honorable father inshallah the majlis will be here in the arabic

[36:16]language when to limit the crack allow my knee and salute and

[47:34]swallow my knee stand
