The Rewards of Fasting

There are several rewards for those who fasts:
1. One hadith states that those who fast will be given special syafa’ah of the Prophet SAWW on the day of judgment.
2. Another reward of fasting is that illuminates the grave and gives consolation to the solitude and loneliness that we experience in the grave.
3. On the day of judgment, when Allah SWT is judging the one who has fasted, He will say: “There are two types of haqq, one is between Me and you. I relinquish all of My rights (I forgive all of your sins). The other haqq is between you and the people. Allah SWT will bring all those people who you have violated and Allah SWT will say to them: “Forgive my servant. If you do, I will compensate you.” Allah SWT will keep on enticing them until eventually they will forgive that person.
4. The one who fasts in the month of Ramadhan and he experiences thirst, Allah SWT will authorise 1000 angels to bless his face. When he is about to break his fast, they give him glad tidings that Allah SWT has forgiven him. Then Allah SWT will say, “Now that you have fasted for me, how pleasant your aroma is.” Then Allah SWT will say the angels, “Bear witness that I have forgiven all his sins.”

According to a Prophetic tradition, Jesus asked Allah SWT to speak to her mother and asked if she would like to live on earth again. Mary replied, “Yes but only if I may offer prayers during the cold night of winter and fast the long days of summer.”
