[0:02][Music] muham [Music] [Music] muham muham fasting has many dimensions to building
[1:02]the Islamic character of the human being in her the one that
[1:12]she delivered in the Masjid ofam demanding her right in the land
[1:19]of fedc she gave beautiful on liners as to why Allah subhah
[1:24]wa ta'ala [Music] has prescribe certain things upon Muslims the justification for
[1:35]Salat the justification for Jihad the justification for for example zakat and
[1:41]for establishing the kin and the relationship between the kin one of
[1:46]them is of course she says why did Allah prescribe in her
[1:56]words it's to strengthen the sincerity and to establish the sincerity in
[2:01]the heart of the individual indeed that is the ultimate goal the
[2:10]ultimate goal of the fast according to the Quran Allah says so
[2:17]that you achieve tawa and tawa is what tawa is when a
[2:21]person not only does the w not only does the thing that
[2:29]Allah has mandated for example Sal and and no not only does
[2:34]he leave the sins the m in addition to that he does
[2:41]it every action that he does he remembers Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[2:44]and hence tawa becomes something that comes from the inside out tawa
[2:51]is a constant remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa taala a is who
[2:57]in a nutshell a mut is a person who if there is
[3:00]a a hidden camera there's a hidden camera recording after a week
[3:05]they tell him there was a hidden camera recording every action of
[3:09]yours now we're going to play it for the past week we're
[3:13]going to play Everything a will say I don't care play it
[3:17]I don't care I have nothing to worry about that's a m
[3:23]why because he's constantly remembering Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and hence he
[3:28]doesn't care he knows when he is remembering Allah he's at peace
[3:31]and tranquility and he never deviates from the path that reminder then
[3:37]makes him and promotes him to do every action for the sake
[3:41]of Allah subhana wa ta'ala when a person is remembering that Allah
[3:46]is watching everything he has to do has to be in the
[3:49]pleasure of Allah and hence that reminder then drives this individual for
[3:53]whatever action he does for the sake of Allah and that isas
[3:58]that's that is the ultimate goal it is said one day bahul
[4:06]bahul came across a Masjid somebody built a Masjid a big mosque
[4:12]and he said this mosque is the mask of so and so
[4:19]this guy put his name on it so bahul came he crossed
[4:26]the name and he said this mosque is the mosque of B
[4:32]this man came the next day the Builder the owner the one
[4:36]who made the who built the mosque he came he saw this
[4:41]plaque you know somebody has crossed his name and put the mosque
[4:46]of beh so he called upon beh and he started hitting him
[4:48]he said what are you doing I invested the time and the
[4:53]money and the efforts building this Mosk and now you're changing the
[4:57]name you're saying this is your mosque the mosque of B he
[5:01]said who did you build this mosque for for yourself or for
[5:06]Allah the man said no I built it for Allah he said
[5:10]then don't you think that Allah knows who built the mosque Allah
[5:15]knows so whether I put my name or your name that shouldn't
[5:21]matter to you you built this M for yourself not for Allah
[5:26]admit it and then he left is when a person sincerity is
[5:32]when a person doesn't care no it's the actions for Allah whether
[5:36]they put my name on it even though if I done it
[5:39]whether they put somebody else's name I don't care as long as
[5:44]the action is for Allah subhanahu wa taala I mentioned once in
[5:50]there is an Iranian scholar he said the story once he told
[5:55]me the story he's a professor at the University in Iran he
[6:01]said there is a scholar and another professor in Iran who wrote
[6:06]a book a good book he then took this book to a
[6:12]friend of his to review it before he publishes it you know
[6:14]he said check this book out tell me what do you think
[6:19]the guy took the book read it he found this is a
[6:25]really nice book so what he did he deleted the name and
[6:29]he put his name and he took it to the Publishers now
[6:32]back then people did not write on computers and everything people wrote
[6:36]with a pen so it was difficult to prove that he is
[6:40]the author of the book you know he doesn't have saved drafts
[6:42]and so on so forth that is probably the original copy he
[6:47]took to the friend of his so the publisher published the book
[6:51]with that guy's name on it and the book became popular people
[6:57]liked it a year later this guy who put his name on
[7:04]the book he hears someone knocking at his door he opens the
[7:10]door and he finds the original author he's at the door now
[7:15]he kind of felt embarrassed at the same time he's felt shocked
[7:20]know this guy is probably coming to fight with him that you
[7:25]know we published this book my book and look how popular it's
[7:30]become look look how successful it's become and you've taken all the
[7:33]credit that's the mind that or the thought that came to his
[7:35]mind instead the original author had another book in his hand he
[7:44]said listen this book alhamdulillah was published and alhamdulillah it was well
[7:48]received people liked it it's a very successful book alhamdulillah people are
[7:53]benefiting from it here I'm bringing you the second part of the
[7:59]book part two please take it to the publisher you put your
[8:04]name on it and publish it I don't care as long as
[8:07]the knowledge gets out to the people I should not deprive people
[8:12]of the knowledge this isas he said Allah knows who the author
[8:18]is that's what matters if people know who the author or they
[8:23]don't who cares now of course this doesn't mean that authors should
[8:27]not put their names on the book no that's that doesn't imply
[8:33]that for example we have great Scholars great Geniuses and people who
[8:37]devoted their lives to the likes of may Allah bless his soul
[8:45]who used to receive letters from the 12th IM when he wrote
[8:51]books he says this is this book is written by to give
[8:57]it credibility now when we take a look at the book written
[9:01]by a Al we know this is credible if we take a
[9:03]look at the book written by for example a sh we know
[9:07]this is credible these are Scholars respected and so on so forth
[9:13]so this guy said you know what take it when he gave
[9:15]him the second part this is when this guy felt very bad
[9:20]felt guilty and woke up so he wrote an introduction to the
[9:23]book and that's how people came to find out he wrote the
[9:27]introduction to the book and he put the original author's name on
[9:31]the book and he published it and he said the story he
[9:36]mentioned the whole that's how people came to find out otherwise nobody
[9:39]would have found out it's done this isas fasting the month of
[9:45]Ramadan is one of the components that can drive and build this
[9:51]human this Islamic character to such Perfection how there are three main
[10:04]components that we'll be discussing inshallah the first one is the deprivation
[10:09]of the human of this Muslim this mmin who's fasting the deprivation
[10:13]of food and water and other desires during the time of the
[10:19]fast this m deprives himself of food he goes into hunger he
[10:26]deprives himself of water he becomes thirst thirsty other desires some people
[10:34]who smoke it's even more difficult for them you know they might
[10:37]you know they say food and water I can survive without but
[10:42]the smoking is it's a killer but they do so they have
[10:45]to why you ask them why for the sake of Allah subhah
[10:52]wa ta'ala now to do this requires a willpower this is strength
[10:58]so that's where Allah subhah wa ta'ala is trying trying to teach
[11:00]us that oh believer yeah I really would like you to go
[11:08]to Jenna believe me M and M Allah wants everybody to go
[11:11]to Jen Allah doesn't want anyone to go to the Hellfire he
[11:18]is I mentioned once a father a father who's caring who's passionate
[11:26]a father even if he has a son who's disobedient you know
[11:30]even if he has disobedient son if one day he reads the
[11:34]news or reaches a news reaches him that your son is critically
[11:39]ill in the hospital he'll feel very bad even though he's a
[11:46]disobedient son but he can't it's his son you find him going
[11:50]to the hospital maybe even shedding tears for his son crying for
[11:56]his son for his conditions praying for his recovery that's a father
[12:00]and that is a very minute sense of Mercy compared to that
[12:08]of Allah subhanal Allah is he wants everyone to go to J
[12:14]he knows the human being also is weak Allah says the human
[12:21]has been created weak Temptations immediately deviate him from the he see
[12:29]something he deviates Allah wants this man to go back this individual
[12:33]to go back so he's put this fasting in this month of
[12:40]Ramadan where he says y for so many hours you're depriving yourself
[12:46]of food and water can't you then stop yourself also from committing
[12:52]the sin and the why don't you get back on the right
[12:55]track the other thing also when this m feels this his sense
[13:04]of belonging to the society increases he feels that he belongs to
[13:09]the society he's a member of the society there are members of
[13:16]the society and by Society I mean the whole world human race
[13:19]he's a member of that race there are people who are suffering
[13:25]who are with sicknesses who are suffering with poverty he feels their
[13:31]pain so he can share it is said in pre-islamic time in
[13:41]Arabia there was a generous man I mentioned his name once do
[13:44]you remember his name he was very well known for generosity famous
[13:50]good some people are actually listening to lectures alhamdulillah despite the fast
[13:57]correct very generous man hatam had a sister she was also generous
[14:06]but because she was a lady sometimes her money used to run
[14:11]out because she used to spend to spend and spend until she
[14:13]run out so hatam used to give her more money and again
[14:17]she would spend spend until she runs out and so on so
[14:20]forth he would give her until hatam died hatam died now this
[14:26]lady she was still generous so she continued to her family members
[14:33]they became disappointed with her they said you know before hatam was
[14:37]alive so you whenever you spend you ran out he would rescue
[14:45]you hatam now has died if you run out what will we'll
[14:51]do we'll be in trouble but she would not listen it's in
[14:56]her she's a generous lady she can't so in their nomadic traditional
[15:06]mind they thought you know we have to discipline her to stop
[15:10]this so what they decided to do is to imprison her so
[15:15]they put her in a prison and they deprived her of food
[15:20]and water they would give her minimal food minimal water just to
[15:22]survive and their thought their thinking their justification is that let her
[15:28]feel what it's like to be hungry and thirsty so that she
[15:32]knows how to spend the money wisely otherwise she will become poor
[15:37]and she will experience hunger and thirst that is their justification their
[15:41]mentality they kept her like that for some time then they took
[15:47]her out and they thought now she's learned the lesson the minute
[15:53]she came out she went back to what she used to do
[15:55]before she started giving even more they told her you haven't learned
[16:04]the lesson she said in fact I learned the lesson they said
[16:09]what are you doing she said when you put me in that
[16:12]prison before that I never experience hunger and thirst I didn't know
[16:18]what it was like to feel hungry and thirsty so but I
[16:22]used to help people after that I experienced what hunger does to
[16:26]people and I would never be able to live and have the
[16:33]thought that there are people out there who are hungry how can
[16:36]I do that and so she started giving more this is the
[16:46]quality of a m of a mmin a mmin should be like
[16:50]this and that's why the Hadith says that a man should not
[16:55]be full when his neighbor is starving a m does not it's
[17:01]not like that that's not a m there are people all over
[17:08]the world who are in poverty in need makes us feel what
[17:14]they feel sometimes when we fast we get a headache because of
[17:19]the hunger but you can't do much that makes a person realize
[17:24]there are people there who also get headaches from the Hunger but
[17:28]they don't have the food nor the pill we at least we
[17:32]can go rest for some time and then atar time we can
[17:34]go have our pills and ate our food and a while later
[17:38]we'll become fine there are people who don't have that even that
[17:44]is a luxury to them so a person can feel this this
[17:47]perfects the human being from the inside I see many people for
[17:53]example who travel to poor countries youth there are there are some
[17:58]programs where youth you travel to poor countries when they come back
[18:02]they say we woke up you know and here we're too much
[18:09]into this latest phone I have to buy the latest phone even
[18:12]though I have a nice working phone but it's not the latest
[18:17]model so I have to go complain I need the latest model
[18:19]or I want this latest fashion there are people who don't even
[18:29]have food to them anything is good this wakes the person up
[18:32]in addition to that this hunger and this thirst should also remind
[18:39]us of the the prophet sallallahu alai wasam in his sermon he
[18:42]says when you are hungry and you're fasting you're thirsty remember the
[18:48]hunger and The Thirst of there you'll be standing for thousands of
[18:54]years God knows only Allah knows experiencing all this difficulty so that
[19:01]is one dimension the fasting the actual experience of the deprivation of
[19:07]food and water that can build that dimension of the human being
[19:13]his human Dimension can be built the second thing is the recitation
[19:18]of the Holy Quran in this in this month the prophet says
[19:26]everything has a season and the season of Quran is the month
[19:32]of Ramadan reading the Holy Quran in the month of Ramadan now
[19:36]the month of Ramadan is also the month of spirituality a person
[19:41]is fasting for the sake of Allah then he opens the book
[19:43]and starts reading the Quran and there are who read one a
[19:48]day which is excellent mallah that's great but at the same time
[19:53]we should also reflect a little bit on the words we're reading
[19:57]in his description of the he says at night they stay up
[20:05]reading parts of the Holy Quran when they come across verses where
[20:14]Allah subhah wa ta'ala speaks of his punishment you find them changing
[20:19]in colors trembling shedding tears asking Allah subhana wa ta'ala to save
[20:27]them from the punishment and when they come across verses that speak
[20:31]of God's mercy and Paradise and rewards you find them happy and
[20:35]joyful praying to Allah to bless them with it now that requires
[20:42]how many of us read the Quran like that how many of
[20:47]us actually read the Quran like that where we come across verses
[20:50]of the Quran where Allah subhana wa taala is speaking of the
[20:53]we say in another Ayah Allah says oh my Lord whomever you
[21:22]enter into the Hell Fire you have shamed him and the oppressors
[21:25]don't have any supporters the only supporter is you Allah when a
[21:30]person reads such verses indeed he wakes up again reminds him of
[21:35]the so Quran and recitation of the Quran builds that individual and
[21:42]reminds him of Allah subhana waala the third thing is the recitation
[21:52]of Dua in the month of Ramadan we have lots of duas
[21:56]if you open ma you'll see there are several duas to be
[22:00]recited and these duas by the way also have they address certain
[22:07]aspects of the human being some of them address the spiritual aspects
[22:13]some of the duas in the month of Ramadan address the spiritual
[22:18]aspects of the human being for example which one what is the
[22:22]best one that comes to mind for spirituality yes I heard it
[22:26]on the other side du exactly where IM for example says oh
[23:02]my Lord I am the small one whom you have raised I
[23:08]am the ignorant whom you have taught I am the misguided one
[23:14]whom you have guided I am the one who was low and
[23:19]you have elevated me I am the one who was scared and
[23:27]you have provided me with security I am the one who's hungry
[23:31]and you have filled me I am the Thirsty and the one
[23:33]whom you quench my thirst all these and then he [Music] [Music]
[23:55]says he says I am the one I am the slave who
[24:00]has become disobedient on his master I am the one who have
[24:09]disobeyed the mighty one of the Skies these words the minute a
[24:15]person starts reciting them the way they should be recited you find
[24:19]Hearts already starting to feel the tranquility and the eyes move to
[24:25]tears that's why it's highly recommended to recite this Dua in the
[24:31]month of Ramadan and inshallah if Allah gives us the and the
[24:34]strength and the life on the 23rd night we'll have this Dua
[24:39]recited inshallah we'll recite it if Allah gives us a it will
[24:42]be inshallah a Thursday night L and the 23rd night of so
[24:50]it's a night where you should rest in the day as much
[24:52]as you can and we stay up inshallah the whole night if
[24:56]Allah gives us that is one dimension the spiritual Dimension another dimension
[25:07]these duas also carry is the society the social Dimension after every
[25:12]Salat in Ramadan every W Salat it is recommended to recite this
[25:18]Dua [Music] [Music] Allah [Music] [Music] [Music] this Dua what does it
[26:26]mean Allah oh Allah make the people who are in the grave
[26:33]let their peace and Tranquility enter on them Happiness joy enter into
[26:38]their hearts this reminds the M that you know what one day
[26:43]I will be in the grave too and then every poor person
[26:51]Ya Allah Elevate them of their poverty alleviate them anyone who doesn't
[26:57]have cloth Allah clothe them and then later he says any Muslim
[27:04]who's corrupt oh Allah guide them so this makes person feel that
[27:13]he's a part of the society we have a Hadith that says
[27:19]whoever wakes up in the morning and is not concerned about the
[27:26]Affairs of the Muslims he's not one of them he's not of
[27:29]them imagine God forbid God forbid you're in the same house and
[27:36]you have a relative a family member in the same house a
[27:42]father a mother God forbid who's extremely ill suffering how would you
[27:46]wake up every morning happy joyful when they are suffering in pain
[27:51]and difficulty can't whenever you look at them you feel pain and
[27:58]you pray for them the same thing with all the Believers are
[28:07]brothers and sisters so a person has to be concerned about their
[28:10]Affairs the least we can do the least is to pray such
[28:15]Dua also there are some duas taught by our 12th Also regarding
[28:26]the elevation the status of the m these Dua we should read
[28:33]every morning after and finally there are also duas that not only
[28:37]deal with the spiritual aspect the society but also deal in fact
[28:40]with the political aspects the political things so even the leaders when
[28:46]they read these duas they should wake up as well they should
[28:49]realize that you know what one day Allah will put us down
[28:53]just like he brought us up those who are down Allah can
[29:11]bring them up those who are up Allah can bring them down
[29:14]Kings have perished that's it and then others come in their place
[29:19]one day one king was asking one of the philosophers a wise
[29:25]man he told him what is the wisdom behind death why do
[29:31]we die and he was a king he said without death you
[29:36]would never never become a king the only way you became a
[29:40]king is when your father died that's the wisdom otherwise he would
[29:46]have never become a king and you see mallah in some countries
[29:48]in the world we see them today you find the king is
[29:52]almost you know he's he's dead you know but he's still hanging
[29:54]on everything he doesn't let go until he finally comes until then
[30:00]otherwise he would never let go even Mah besides Kings you know
[30:06]even some presidents are like that too in some part of the
[30:09]world they come in and for good so people don't realize this
[30:16]it is said hamik maranam husham had extreme arrogance he was known
[30:26]for his arrogance one day husham came for Hajj he came for
[30:34]Hajj he told his guards he told them find me one of
[30:38]the companions of the Prophet now ham was at the time of
[30:42]that was his time they went they came back they said there
[30:48]are no Companions of the Prophet left anymore they all they all
[30:51]died he said okay find me some companion of a companion somebody
[30:58]who's met a companion they they came and they found him was
[31:04]brought forth was a companion of they brought him comes into his
[31:14]tent he enters with his shoes on then he comes and then
[31:19]he removes he picks up his shoes he comes to the carpet
[31:22]picks up his shoes and then he says says alaykum how are
[31:32]you ham this is Theif so the guy and then he comes
[31:37]and sits right next to him so husham becomes very Furious he
[31:42]says what have you done he said what have I done he
[31:47]said and you claim you don't know what you've done he said
[31:49]first you took off your shoes right in front of me and
[31:53]then you did not say that was a title for Theif becomes
[32:03]anyways so you didn't give me that title and you said you
[32:12]call me by my first name and then you came and said
[32:19]right next to me what is all this he said hold on
[32:23]hold on a second first of all me coming and removing my
[32:26]shoes I remove them five times a day before my Lord and
[32:32]Allah doesn't complain Allah is happy about that and then you said
[32:41]why didn't I call you he said because I have not yet
[32:46]seen a mmin who claims you as a as his Amir as
[32:49]his master I have not yet seen a mmin who declares you
[32:53]as his master so I didn't want to lie to you I
[32:58]didn't want to lie and then he said why you called me
[33:03]by my first name husham he said because Allah in the Quran
[33:06]when he speaks about his aah he calls them by their first
[33:12]name Allah says yah mus or Isa but when he comes and
[33:19]talks about his enemies he says he calls them with their nicknames
[33:22]with their titles he says ABAB was not his name that was
[33:30]his you know the father of leab so he said you know
[33:34]that's how Allah subhana wa tala addresses his aah in the Quran
[33:37]you know so by me calling you by your first name it's
[33:41]I'm doing you justice in fact I'm doing you a favor and
[33:44]then he said why I came and sat down because I he
[33:48]my master saying if you want to see a man who is
[33:54]of the people of the Hellfire look at somebody who's sitting down
[33:59]and there are people standing all around him you know somebody who's
[34:02]arrogant he sits down and he doesn't allow people to sit they
[34:05]all have to stand like slaves now husham he was overwhelmed this
[34:14]is the first time he probably hear somebody talking to him in
[34:17]this language give me some admonishment know these are the Companions of
[34:29]look at the Quality this is their quality they give quality yes
[34:37]maybe not quantity they don't have the numbers the followers not as
[34:41]many Imam Hussein had only 72 followers Amir had also a handful
[34:49]of followers people who actually believed in him and followed him and
[34:51]loved him and obeyed but they have the quality those were individuals
[34:57]who were people who understood this was one of their example so
[35:08]he said admonish me he said I heard a Hadith that says
[35:15]in the Hellfire there are snakes as big as a mountain and
[35:21]there are scorpions as big as Bulls as large as Bulls they
[35:29]are wait to punish a leader who is unjust among his people
[35:35]and his subjects so be aware yah husham and he picks up
[35:39]his clothes and runs away before husham wakes up CU Hasam was
[35:45]overwhelmed you know if he had woken up he would have killed
[35:49]him so the guy ran away he told him this and run
[35:50]away Ramadan the Dua in the month of Ramadan those who have
[35:56]who have you know many people unfortunately read and they don't have
