[2:03]enlighten your hearts and illuminate your majalis with a loud muhammad respected
[2:15]brothers and sisters for the last two nights we spoke about the
[2:25]problem of evil and we said that if there is a kind
[2:30]merciful loving and powerful lord then why is there so much evil
[2:35]and suffering in this world and we said because some people could
[2:40]not understand how a loving god could allow so much suffering to
[2:44]take place in the world then they were led to rejecting the
[2:49]almighty they were led to atheism and that's why we said a
[2:53]reply is necessary and we mentioned a few replies to the problem
[2:57]of evil but at the end of the day my friends if
[3:01]i was still not convinced that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala why he
[3:06]permits evil in this world then in no way does that justify
[3:10]me rejecting him you see me as a human being if i
[3:15]don't understand something if i'm ignorant of something my ignorance should never
[3:21]lead me to reject what i am ignorant of just because i
[3:25]don't understand something doesn't mean i reject it i have to be
[3:30]humble because if i reject that i am ignorant of then not
[3:36]only will i be ignorant i'll be arrogant as well i have
[3:41]to be humble and i have to admit that the problem is
[3:44]with me why am i not understanding this the problem is with
[3:47]me it's because of my limited knowledge i don't have all the
[3:50]information that i need in order to judge and that's why allah
[3:55]subhanahu wa ta'ala says in the holy quran he says he says
[4:02]i have not given you human beings from the knowledge except a
[4:06]small fraction how small allah knows maybe 1% maybe point zero zero
[4:12]one percent and that's why you see science with all the advancements
[4:16]and all the information that they have you find still scientists till
[4:21]this day they're ignorant they still haven't discovered so many things so
[4:26]many things that remain a mystery to scientists so many aspects of
[4:29]the universe of the planets of the stars of the galaxies so
[4:33]many aspects of this world that we live in what's in the
[4:36]ocean and the animals and the trees and the ecosystems and the
[4:40]weather many of these things still remain a mystery scientists have yet
[4:44]to discover them we don't have to go far my brothers and
[4:47]sisters the human being himself has still not fully discovered himself many
[4:54]parts of the human being many things about the human being still
[4:57]remain a mystery to scientists for example amongst the things that i
[5:01]was reading about was the need to sleep every human being needs
[5:06]to sleep scientists till this very day have not fully understood why
[5:10]the human being needs to sleep every human being needs to sleep
[5:14]at least seven to eight hours a day correct now if you
[5:17]go and you lay flat on your bed you close you close
[5:21]your eyes and you can even snore but don't fall into sleep
[5:26]after eight hours of laying there will you wake up refreshed will
[5:31]you wake up with energy of course not you're gonna wake up
[5:34]it's as if you've been running for five hours your bones are
[5:36]hurting your back is hurting you're so tired you can't do anything
[5:39]even though you were laying flat for eight hours you have to
[5:43]fall into fall to sleep if you don't sleep you won't get
[5:47]that energy why is that it's still a mystery to many scientists
[5:51]and then once we do sleep we see dreams why do we
[5:54]see dreams what's the point of dreams why is it that we
[5:57]see dreams this is a mystery there are theories but still there
[6:00]are many things that they haven't discovered likewise there are for example
[6:05]how the soul is connected to the body many aspects of the
[6:08]soul that the human being possesses still scientists remains a mystery to
[6:12]them there are many diseases that afflict the human being until this
[6:16]very day there is no treatment we haven't discovered the treatment we
[6:19]haven't discovered the cure to it if i have not discovered myself
[6:25]then i expect to understand allah subhanahu wa ta'ala if i do
[6:29]not understand the created i expect to understand the creator we are
[6:35]finite human beings brothers and sisters we're so limited allah subhanahu wa
[6:40]ta'ala is infinite can a finite being understand an infinite being of
[6:46]course not it doesn't make sense this is common sense so just
[6:50]because i cannot understand how allah works doesn't mean that i have
[6:53]to reject it doesn't mean that there is no explanation this is
[6:56]arrogance brothers and sisters when i say because i don't understand this
[7:01]i reject it that's that means i'm arrogant that means i understand
[7:04]more than allah subhanahu wa ta'ala who says you have to understand
[7:06]everything who says you have enough knowledge to understand how allah subhanahu
[7:10]wa ta'ala works and that's why you see many of these atheists
[7:14]you see the reason why they become atheists is because of their
[7:17]their arrogance why did god do this why did god do that
[7:21]why did god take my mother why does god just because you
[7:25]can understand why god did it doesn't mean that there is no
[7:28]explanation as long as you're as convinced that there must be a
[7:31]creator that something cannot come out of nothing as long as you
[7:36]have proof that there must been a creator intelligent design then just
[7:41]because you don't understand how that creator works does not justify rejecting
[7:46]that creator and let me give you a story to further illustrate
[7:48]this point it's narrated that one day prophet musa he asked allah
[7:55]subhanahu wa ta'ala he tells him you allah i want you to
[7:59]show me your justice i want you to show me how you
[8:03]are just the hadith says allah tells prophet musa go and stand
[8:08]by a certain mountain and you will see close by there is
[8:12]a well that has water in it back then they want to
[8:15]drink water they go to the well so go and look and
[8:18]you will see my justice served prophet musa he goes and he
[8:22]stands by that mountain and he begins to look at the well
[8:27]all of a sudden he notices a soldier comes riding a horse
[8:31]he comes to the well and he comes off his horse he's
[8:36]wearing a belt he takes off the belt he puts it aside
[8:41]inside the belt there's a bag filled with money golden coins he
[8:46]drinks from the well and then after he finishes he rides the
[8:50]horse he forgets his belt and he leaves musa is watching a
[8:56]few minutes after that or a while after that musa notices a
[9:00]little boy comes a young boy maybe their their house is close
[9:03]by he comes to the well he takes a drink after he
[9:07]drinks from the well the boy looks he sees there's a belt
[9:11]he looks inside the belt he sees there's money he snatches the
[9:14]money and he leaves after that a third man comes an old
[9:20]blind man holding a stick he's an old blind man and his
[9:24]house is close by through with the stick he's able to come
[9:26]to the well he comes and he drinks from the well as
[9:30]this old man is drinking from the well who comes back the
[9:34]horseman he remembers that he forgot his money so he quickly comes
[9:39]back he searches he sees there's no trace of it so what
[9:43]does he do right away he assumes that this old man took
[9:47]it so he accuses him old man where is my money i
[9:50]know you took it because after i left no one came but
[9:53]you the old man says i don't know what you're talking about
[9:56]i'm an old blind man even if there was some money even
[9:58]if there was a belt i can't even see it so a
[10:01]huge quarrel erupts between them the man the old man says i'm
[10:06]innocent the soldier says you took my money the soldier takes out
[10:10]his sword and he kills that old man and leaves allah tells
[10:14]prophet musa this is my justice now to you and me what
[10:18]does this look like justice or injustice injustice correct to you and
[10:25]me who have limited knowledge who do not know the context of
[10:28]the story we don't know all the circumstances of these people we
[10:32]think this is injustice we say if we were there present that
[10:36]day besides the well we would say you allah there is so
[10:39]much evil in this world look there's so much tarry and oppression
[10:41]in this world but do you know why we make that objection
[10:44]because of our ignorance that's why i say we have to be
[10:47]humble not be arrogant just because i don't understand something i make
[10:51]accusations so musa he asked allah you you need to explain how
[10:56]is this justice allah tells prophet musa let me explain to you
[11:00]how this is justice he tells him as for the old blind
[11:04]man which you thought he was killed unjustly when he was younger
[11:09]he had unjustly killed the father of the horsemen many years ago
[11:15]he had unjustly killed the father of the horsemen now the horsemen
[11:19]avenged his father's murder so there was no injustice in that that
[11:24]was justice the old man killed the father of the horsemen now
[11:28]he now the son retaliated so that's justice okay and as for
[11:32]the young boy when his when the soldier the horseman when he
[11:39]was younger he had taken borrow some money from the father of
[11:43]the little boy and he never gave it back the father of
[11:47]that little boy used tell him give it back he never gave
[11:49]it back until the father of that young boy died now who
[11:53]is the inheritor of the wealth of that father it's the boy
[11:57]so now the boy owes that horseman a certain amount allah tells
[12:01]him the same amount that he owed that horseman was in that
[12:04]belt i took it from that horseman gave it to that young
[12:07]child without the child knowing without the soldier knowing they themselves these
[12:12]three members they don't know even what happened allah placed everything where
[12:16]it belongs without anyone knowing so they say allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[12:20]works in mysterious ways and that's why allah tells them this is
[12:23]how i serve justice so many times brothers and sisters there are
[12:27]things in which we don't understand don't rush to conclusions don't make
[12:32]accusations left and right i have to be humble and say the
[12:35]problem is with me i am the one that am ignorant i
[12:39]am the one that doesn't have the full information so with that
[12:43]said now that we understand that we'll go to the final point
[12:47]and that is the last argument and the last reply to the
[12:51]problem of evil we mentioned a few replies yesterday and a reply
[12:54]the day before yesterday the final argument and the final reply to
[12:58]the problem of evil is this and before i mention it i
[13:03]have to clarify a point and that point is everything that allah
[13:08]subhanahu wa ta'ala created in this world is good there is nothing
[13:14]that allah creates which is evil in essence everything that allah creates
[13:18]is good the holy quran says this allah says in the holy
[13:21]quran he says in the holy quran allah subhanahu wa ta'ala everything
[13:33]that he creates is perfect it's good so there is nothing that
[13:36]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that creates which is bad everything that allah
[13:40]subhanahu wa ta'ala creates which is good you may ask wait a
[13:44]minute what about the devil shaitan iblees isn't he evil didn't allah
[13:49]subhanahu wa ta'ala create him even iblees brothers and sisters even the
[13:54]shaitan the devil is good allah subhanahu wa ta'ala created the devil
[14:00]the existence of the devil wasn't evil allah subhanahu wa ta'ala by
[14:04]creating him he created him in a good fashion so you may
[14:07]ask then where did evil come from if allah created everything and
[14:12]everything that he created is good then why do we have evil
[14:15]in this world remember i mentioned two nights ago that because some
[14:19]people could not answer this question what did they believe in two
[14:22]gods wait a minute god is good and he created the good
[14:25]things so there must have been a second god the god of
[14:28]evil and he created everything that's evil but we know this is
[14:31]wrong there's only one god allah subhanahu wa ta'ala almighty and he
[14:35]created everything so where did evil come from then evil came after
[14:41]that my dear brothers and sisters evil came from us from us
[14:45]human beings how did evil come about it's when i the human
[14:49]being exercise the free will that allah gave me and i choose
[14:55]the wrong instead of the right the result is called evil allah
[15:00]gave us free will and not only did he just give us
[15:03]free will and he let us wander like that no he gave
[15:06]us intellect intellect and he gave us conscience and that tells me
[15:11]you're on the right path or you're on the wrong path and
[15:14]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said 124,000 messengers all of them telling us
[15:20]to what to do what's right to do what's good when the
[15:23]human being fails in choosing what's right when he abuses this free
[15:28]will and he goes away from the commandments of allah subhanahu wa
[15:31]ta'ala this is where you get evil so evil is the result
[15:37]of going away from allah or else if everyone follows the directions
[15:40]of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala there would be absolutely no evil in
[15:43]this world correct if everyone one day decided to follow the quran
[15:49]the teachings of ahlul bayt would there be any evil in this
[15:51]world so why is it that we blame allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[15:55]for the evil why is it that when i see suffering i
[15:58]see evil i see killings i see torture i blame allah subhanahu
[16:02]wa ta'ala allah is the one that's telling me don't do this
[16:05]allah told me this is evil he gave me the aqlif the
[16:09]conscience and he sent so many messengers and imams just to tell
[16:12]me do what's right do what's good so evil comes from us
[16:17]or else allah everything that he creates is good and in order
[16:21]to further explain this point let's look at the different evils that
[16:26]exist in this world there are many evils that exist in this
[16:28]world number one the first form of evil that we call and
[16:33]label as evil is tyranny oppression and killings you see today there's
[16:39]so much tyranny in the world the world is filled with oppression
[16:42]and and and and innocent people that are being killed just look
[16:46]at what's what's happening in syria today every day thousands or hundreds
[16:50]of people are being killed look at what what's happening in yemen
[16:53]look at what look at what's happening in iraq for the past
[16:57]ten years every day hundreds of people are killed because of those
[17:00]bombings and so many other parts of the world innocent people that
[17:03]are dying all these killings and battles is allah responsible for all
[17:08]of that or we human beings you see the mass refugee of
[17:15]the of the syrian people these poor people that have to abandon
[17:19]their homes because he's afraid while he's sleeping there's a rocket that
[17:22]will target his house and and and annihilate him he has to
[17:25]abandon his hometown and he has to go and seek anywhere that
[17:29]they'll accept him that they'll let him live in peace and not
[17:34]only is he running away from death but sometimes they run away
[17:38]from death and they find death at their destination how many of
[17:41]them you see they drowned or they died remember just a few
[17:44]months ago i read in the news that in austria they found
[17:47]a truck a huge truck filled with syrian refugees it was parked
[17:53]beside the road they go they open the door of that truck
[17:56]they see there is 76 bodies dead bodies of syrian refugees because
[18:01]the smuggler left them to suffocate in that truck we blame that
[18:04]on allah subhanahu wa ta'ala this is us the wicked human being
[18:09]because of the power hunger because he wants to conquer he wants
[18:12]to rule he's not willing to what he's not willing to leave
[18:17]power and he and and even if it's at the cost of
[18:20]millions of people this is we have the result of this allah
[18:24]is to blame this is the human being it's our fault brothers
[18:27]and sisters so all this tyranny and oppression killings has nothing to
[18:31]do with allah allah says in the holy quran if you kill
[18:35]one innocent soul it's like you've killed humanity and then we blame
[18:38]allah you find here in the united states brothers and sisters i
[18:42]mentioned two nights ago from time to time there are shootings a
[18:45]guy goes out he kills innocent people random and from time to
[18:49]time i mentioned that in the media they begin to what point
[18:51]fingers at allah i remember once there was a shooting and i
[18:54]saw on cnn one guy is talking he says where is god
[18:57]in the equation how does god allow this and he begins to
[19:00]attack allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in the united states if you read
[19:04]statistics every single year more than 30,000 people die because of gun
[19:10]violence every single year that's about eighty five peep people a day
[19:15]every single day eighty five people die in the us because of
[19:19]gun violence instead of blaming it on ourselves instead of blaming it
[19:24]on ourselves that we cannot control these guns we cannot put a
[19:27]ban to the on these guns we blame allah allah gave me
[19:31]aql he gave me intellect he says when something is causing corruption
[19:35]in your society get rid of it why do people have to
[19:38]own guns get rid of those guns you save 30,000 lives every
[19:42]year but no the second amendment i have fine you want to
[19:45]have guns blame the second amendment blame your constitution why do you
[19:48]blame allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allah said we're forced to own guns
[19:52]every day 85 people how many people have to die until we
[19:54]understand these guns are nothing but evil but then we go and
[19:59]we blame allah subhanahu wa ta'ala another statistic statistics tell us that
[20:04]every two minutes in the us three people die because of drunk
[20:08]driving alcohol related accidents every two minutes how many people die three
[20:16]people we blame that on we blame that on allah subhanahu wa
[20:20]ta'ala how many times in the quran allah says stay away from
[20:23]alcohol allah says alcohol is nothing but filth i'm i mentioned that
[20:28]the verse in the quran a few nights ago i'll mention it
[20:31]again allah says in the holy quran you rasulullah he used to
[20:37]come to rasulullah ask him about drinking alcohol and masir gambling allah
[20:42]tells rasulullah tell the people tell the people that alcohol and gambling
[20:56]there is great harm in them and it's a sin allah calls
[20:59]it drinking alcohol and gambling allah in the quran calls it a
[21:04]sin and there's lots of harm in them but at the same
[21:07]time the quran says but good may also come of them you
[21:11]see when i gamble i can make money that's a profit i
[21:13]could sell alcohol and make money i could drink and and it's
[21:17]exciting and it feels good to get drunk but allah then says
[21:20]right after that even though there may be good in drinking and
[21:26]playing but the evil and the harm of drinking and gambling is
[21:30]much more than the good and that's why in the other verse
[21:34]allah says allah says that drinking alcohol it's rich it's filth impurity
[21:52]stay away from it allah is saying it for fourteen hundred years
[21:55]in the quran stay away from alcohol we wanna follow our desires
[21:59]and what's the price that we have to pay every two minutes
[22:02]three people die and then we blame allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you
[22:06]see how rude how impudent the human being can become allah tells
[22:11]him do this don't go that way go this way this is
[22:14]the way in which you'll be satisfied you'll live a happy life
[22:18]we disobey allah subhanahu wa ta'ala we go another way we do
[22:22]what we want and then once we fall in the trap we
[22:24]blame god why is there so much evil and suffering it's your
[22:28]fault listen to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala there won't be so much
[22:31]suffering and evil in this world this is number one this is
[22:34]all the killings and deaths in this world number two another form
[22:36]of evil in this world is what another form of of evil
[22:40]in this world is diseases so many people have we we call
[22:43]diseases as evil many of the diseases brothers and sisters are our
[22:47]fault for example statistics tell us that every single year in the
[22:52]us more than one hundred and fifty thousand people die because of
[22:57]what because of lung cancer you you can google it more than
[23:02]one hundred and fifty thousand people die every single year because of
[23:05]lung cancer and ninety percent of those deaths are because of what
[23:10]because of smoking so almost maybe one hundred thirty five thousand people
[23:17]die every single year because of smoking and then we come and
[23:21]we blame it on allah allah tells gives me a aql something
[23:25]that's causing you harm stay away from it it's as easy as
[23:27]that don't smoke but yet we go we smoke and then once
[23:31]we have the cancer we ask you allah why is there evil
[23:34]in this world why is there disease it's your fault you are
[23:37]the one that's going and smoking this this toxic chemical and that's
[23:41]why i find most of our brothers and sisters they say that
[23:45]if smoking is bad for your health and if it leads to
[23:49]diseases then smoking becomes haram and if you ask any doctor if
[23:54]you ask any doctor any physician they will tell you that smoking
[23:58]is one of the most harmful things that the human being can
[24:01]do allah is clearly telling us but we want to choose our
[24:04]own ways this is the first number two every single year more
[24:11]than four hundred and thousand more than four hundred thousand people die
[24:15]in the us because of what because of obesity diseases and illnesses
[24:19]that are related to obesity and i remember i read once that
[24:23]unfortunately detroit was one of the fattest cities in america i think
[24:26]it was the second most obese city in america unfortunately our our
[24:31]city so every year more than four hundred and four hundred thousand
[24:36]people die in the us because of obesity who's to blame allah
[24:40]subhanahu wa ta'ala you know that's so funny i'm i'm fat i
[24:43]say it's allah it's because i can't stop eating because of all
[24:47]the junk food and the processed foods and the fast food and
[24:50]the unhealthy foods that we eat and then you have high cholesterol
[24:53]high blood pressure and then you get diabetes and so many diseases
[24:57]and you have four hundred four hundred thousand people dying every single
[25:00]year allah gives us a haql something that's bad for you stay
[25:06]away from it and that's why in islam it's highly recommended to
[25:09]be fit it's highly recommended to be fit eat good foods eat
[25:13]healthy foods and workout it's recommended to workout not only islam doesn't
[25:18]only worry and care about the soul just no it's good to
[25:23]also be fit physically and that's why going to the gym and
[25:26]working out is something very good in islam allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[25:30]lays out the rules you wanna live a good life but we
[25:33]choose our ways and then we blame allah subhanahu wa ta'ala so
[25:36]this is number two the second type of evil remember we said
[25:39]number one the first form of evil is all the killings most
[25:42]of it is our fault number two the diseases most of it
[25:44]is our fault maybe some of it is trial from allah subhanahu
[25:47]wa but a lot of it is our fault number three a
[25:50]a third type of evil something that we called evil is what
[25:53]poverty there is so much poverty in this world today you find
[25:58]that in certain parts of the world people don't have food to
[26:01]eat people suffer from famine there isn't clean water you see in
[26:07]africa for example most people in africa they don't excuse me they
[26:11]don't have access to clean water do you know that do you
[26:14]see this bottle of water that we take for granted here in
[26:18]america and many countries this is very rare in africa an average
[26:22]an average person in africa never sees a bottle of water in
[26:26]his life and that's why i've heard that a young child living
[26:31]in africa do you know what his dream is if i were
[26:34]were to see some young brothers and sisters here in the audience
[26:37]and i were to ask them what's your dream when you grow
[26:39]up some of them will say i wanna become a doctor i
[26:43]wanna become a lawyer i wanna become the president i wanna become
[26:46]a senator i want it in africa many of the kids their
[26:50]dream is to grow up and while they're adults they wanna have
[26:53]a bottle of water every day that's their only dream a bottle
[26:58]of water see how we take it for granted it's worthless in
[27:01]our eyes bottle of water what's the worth of it and you
[27:05]find there's so much famine so many people that are dying out
[27:08]of hunger why is this happening brothers sisters why why are innocent
[27:12]children dying because of starvation they once asked the philosopher why is
[27:19]there so many children that are dying because of hunger and he
[27:22]gave such a beautiful answer you know what he said he gave
[27:25]them such a beautiful answer he said the reason why there's so
[27:29]many children dying out of starvation is my hair my hair what
[27:36]do you mean my hair why are children dying out of starvation
[27:38]he said my hair and they say this philosopher he had hair
[27:42]on the sides lots of hair on the sides and no hair
[27:45]in the middle he was bald in the middle and he said
[27:49]my hair what does he mean my hair he said if you
[27:52]look at my hair there's good production but what bad distribution there's
[27:58]lots of hair on the sides but it's not distributed evenly only
[28:02]if some of the hair instead of growing on the sides it
[28:04]would grow in the middle would have been i would i would
[28:06]have looked so much better so he says the same problem we
[28:10]have poverty you think allah didn't create enough food for humanity read
[28:15]statistics they say that today in this world there is enough food
[28:20]and resources not for everyone but for four times more than the
[28:24]population so 7,000,000,000 people today times that by four almost 30,000,000,000 there
[28:29]is enough food for 30,000,000,000 people yet thousands of people have to
[28:33]die out of hunger is that allah's fault allah placed this food
[28:37]allah placed these resources in the dunya it's the human being's greed
[28:42]it's because he wants there are people that have billions of dollars
[28:45]that are people that month passes by they don't earn more than
[28:48]$10 allah is to blame here they say that during the jahiliyah
[28:55]there was a poet he was walking in the street one day
[29:00]and he said i want to just see what's going on in
[29:02]the streets and then i'll write a poem so he says i
[29:05]was walking and all of a sudden i hear someone that's yelling
[29:08]ouch ouch so i get closer to that guy i see that
[29:13]he has his hands on his stomach so i tell him what's
[29:17]wrong he says i am so hungry i have no food and
[29:24]that's why i'm crying so he continues he says a few minutes
[29:28]after that i hear a second man saying ouch ouch i tell
[29:32]him what's wrong with you he says i ate so much food
[29:35]that my stomach is hurting me that poet he writes a very
[29:39]beautiful poem in arabic and he explains how only if the second
[29:43]one he would have given half of his food to the first
[29:46]one then both of them would have been happy the second one
[29:50]would have eaten too much and the first one would have had
[29:53]enough food so it's the unequal distribution of the wealth is what
[29:58]causes this and if you read the statistics about this brothers and
[30:00]sisters it's so disturbing statistics state that the top 1% the top
[30:08]1% the wealthy they own how much of the world's wealth more
[30:13]than 40% 1% owns more than 40% and the lowest two thirds
[30:18]of the population the poorest two thirds how much do they own
[30:22]they should own two thirds right how much do they own 3%
[30:25]so one third owns 97% and two thirds they own 3% and
[30:33]then we blame allah subhanahu wa ta'ala we make millions and we
[30:36]save millions more we say why is there poverty in this world
[30:40]look at these poor children that are suffering it's so easy brothers
[30:43]and sisters to make accusations do you know why these people are
[30:47]blaming allah because they want to find a scapegoat because the other
[30:51]option is to blame myself they don't wanna blame themselves they don't
[30:54]wanna blame their societies instead they blame allah subhanahu wa it's very
[30:58]easy to blame allah allah is tolerant if i curse allah he's
[31:01]not gonna retaliate now if i lie and ascribe false lies to
[31:06]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he's not gonna retaliate he's tolerant and that's
[31:11]why they wanna find a scapegoat everything allah allah allah so this
[31:14]is number three the fur the third type of evil and the
[31:17]fourth type of evil that we see in this world today is
[31:21]the immorality you see so much immorality in this world lying cheating
[31:26]deceit greed i remember a couple of months ago here in this
[31:30]city in detroit it was all over the news they said that
[31:32]there was a doctor for years what what would he do i'm
[31:37]sure many of you heard about it for years he was a
[31:40]doctor that would treat cancer victims or cancer patients for years people
[31:46]would come to his office and he would diagnose them with cancer
[31:50]even though they were perfectly fine why just to feed his ego
[31:54]just to feed his greed he can make money so he can
[31:56]charge the insurance so they have to take tests chemotherapy they have
[31:59]to take medication and he could make money i remember i read
[32:02]an article that said he it's estimated that throughout the years he
[32:05]made more than $17,000,000 because of that and he ruined the lives
[32:09]of so many people and unfortunately he was an arab i don't
[32:11]know if he was a muslim even if he was a muslim
[32:14]only by name a true muslim never does that just in order
[32:18]to feed my desires my greed i ruined the lives of so
[32:22]many people so the immorality that exists in this world once again
[32:26]we are to blame and here i'll read you i'll read you
[32:29]a beautiful hadith about that of how immorality brothers and sisters destroys
[32:34]society and how so many problems we see in society is because
[32:39]of our immorality it's because we fail in following the moral rules
[32:43]let and placed by allah subhanahu wa ta'ala the hadith of imam
[32:47]al baqar alaihi salam says says rasulullah has said this or there
[32:58]was a book of rasulullah and the hadith of rasulullah mentioned in
[33:02]it what does rasulullah say if fornication and adultery increases after me
[33:12]the prophet says then what will happen what's the result people all
[33:18]of a sudden you see he falls and dies heart attack the
[33:21]doctor sees there's nothing wrong with him he was perfectly healthy but
[33:25]yet he falls and dies because of the immorality we find that
[33:29]this is the punishment and then the imams the the holy prophet
[33:32]says and when human beings they do not give their financial dues
[33:45]they do not pay their zakat what will allah afflict us with
[33:49]what's the obvious result what's the ramification of that the prophet says
[33:54]that there'll be famine there'll be a drought you'll find there's a
[33:57]scarce in food poverty who's to blame us because we're not paying
[34:02]our dues to allah and then the imam the prophet says if
[34:12]we break our relationships with our family members i have a brother
[34:16]i have a sister i don't speak with them for whatever reason
[34:19]who cares there is absolutely no excuse for me breaking my ties
[34:23]with my family members even if they were wrong listen carefully brothers
[34:27]and sisters even if he started it even if she was wrong
[34:31]allah will hold me responsible the hadith says that if i break
[34:34]my relationship with my family members my brothers with my cousins my
[34:37]uncles my nieces my parents the hadith says allah will shave up
[34:44]to thirty years out of my life amongst the things that shortens
[34:48]the life of the human being is if i break my ties
[34:53]with my family members no matter what the excuse i have to
[34:56]always be better than that other person even if he started it
[34:59]i have to be humble i have to try to continue my
[35:03]relationships but the prophet says but if we do if we do
[35:07]break our ties with our with our family members what's the social
[35:11]ramification of that he says the money will be in the hands
[35:17]of the evil ones just like today you think the rich the
[35:20]billionaire you think they're good people you think they care about the
[35:22]poor people so this is a natural effect of what of breaking
[35:28]our relationships with our family members and then the hadith says the
[35:47]prophet says that if people do not enjoin the good and forbid
[35:51]the evil and remember i mentioned this many times the whole message
[35:54]of imam al hussein of imam hussein on the day of ashura
[35:57]is what the message of imam hussein is what enjoying the good
[36:01]and forbid the evil don't stay silent when you see something as
[36:05]evil if people stay silent they do not follow ahlul bayt whoever
[36:09]rules it doesn't matter they're indifferent about it the holy prophet says
[36:13]the ramification the result of that will be who the evil ones
[36:16]will go to power we're silent we don't care we don't support
[36:19]the right ones we don't support the good ones we'll let our
[36:23]institutions be in the hands of the evil ones when you see
[36:26]there is dulham in your society you cannot say i don't care
[36:29]you're not a muslim imam hussein died for this cause i see
[36:33]in one country there is an evil oppressor in one islamic institution
[36:36]it's held in in in in the hands of thugs i can't
[36:40]stay silent i'm not a muslim i have to because when i
[36:43]stay silent it's those thugs that what that they think i've given
[36:47]them a green light if i stand up and say i'll not
[36:50]let you do that they won't be able so the prophet says
[36:52]if your leaders are corrupt it's your fault because you never enjoin
[36:56]the good and forbid the evil from the first day and that's
[37:00]why the holy quran speaks about this the holy quran says allah
[37:11]says that if any evil happens to you then it's your fault
[37:14]don't blame allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wants what's
[37:18]good for me if i see any problems any tragedies blame you
[37:23]blame humanity blame human beings but then allah says after that he
[37:29]says and then he says but yet allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in
[37:38]many times he what he forgives many times we do haram many
[37:43]times we go against allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and his will but
[37:46]yet allah subhanahu wa ta'ala forgives subhanahu wa ta'ala does not punish
[37:51]me we see how beautifully the twelfth imam he speaks in dua'al
[37:56]iftita so beautiful the imam says instead of the imam say instead
[38:26]of concentrating on the what's bad look at what's good look at
[38:29]what allah has done don't say why doesn't allah intervene here and
[38:33]there look at the times where allah did intervene look at how
[38:36]many cases allah protected you from harm look at how many cases
[38:40]i sin and sin and sin allah just gives me and gives
[38:44]me and gives me allah makes so many exceptions there's so much
[38:50]transgression so much oppression we go against his will so much but
[38:54]he makes so many excuses so many exceptions and he does not
[38:59]always hold us accountable so the imam says concentrate on those times
[39:03]where allah did intervene allah did save my life allah did give
[39:07]me the better even though i did not deserve it and that's
[39:11]why when we come to the free will that allah gave us
[39:16]it's when we abuse it we get evil so does this mean
[39:20]that free will is bad because some people will say then why
[39:23]did allah give us free will if so much evil comes from
[39:26]free will free will my dear brothers and sisters is not bad
[39:30]it's the greatest gift that allah has given us human beings the
[39:34]greatest and most precious gift of allah is what free will that
[39:39]he gave me the honor to choose imagine if allah would have
[39:43]created me as a robot i can only choose one thing would
[39:45]this be a good life there's no value in that life it's
[39:50]because allah wanted to honor me it's because allah deemed me worthy
[39:54]that he gave me the power and the chance to choose but
[39:58]however allah also gave me a aqel he told me that i
[40:02]gave you free will but i'm also giving you aqel always choose
[40:06]what's right if i choose what's wrong that's my fault and that's
[40:09]why you see the hadith the beautiful hadith of imam ali ibn
[40:12]abi talib alaihi salam in the hadith the imam says allah created
[40:23]angels and he placed an angel's intellect but no desires that's why
[40:30]angels never commit sins because they have no desires and then the
[40:33]imam says and then allah created animals animals have no intellect only
[40:42]desire and then the imam says but then the human being allah
[40:50]put both in him he gave him and he gave him he
[40:53]gave him desires but then the imam says if my intellect overwhelms
[41:04]my desires i follow my intellect i become better than the what
[41:08]than the angels and that's why you see allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[41:11]when he created the human being the angels they objected in the
[41:14]verse i said they could not understand the fact that this human
[41:23]being has free will and if someone worships allah based on free
[41:26]will this is priceless when when i worship allah based on free
[41:30]will this is priceless that when a person follows his aqdal he'll
[41:34]become better than the mana'iqah they could not understand this because they
[41:38]had no desire only aql they can only obey and that's why
[41:42]allah asked the angels to prostrate to adam because adam follows his
[41:47]intellect and he becomes better than the malaika but then the hadith
[41:51]says but if someone his desires unfortunately control him and there is
[42:00]no aql just like an animal he lives he just wants to
[42:03]satisfy his desires this person becomes worse than an animal because an
[42:06]animal if it chases after his desires it knows nothing better but
[42:12]i the human being i should know better i have aql i
[42:15]have intellect the animal does not have it and that's why you
[42:19]see they reached those highest stages they were better than the angels
[42:26]because they understood this fact that i have free will and i
[42:32]choose to worship allah and this is the highest level that a
[42:36]human being can win that when he worships allah out of his
[42:41]own free will just because he loves allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and
[42:45]thus you see imam ali alaihi salaam let the entire world go
[42:49]against him he didn't care because he had allah he says in
[42:52]the beautiful hadith it gives me so much pride he says that
[43:01]i am your servant you allah and then he says and it
[43:09]gives me so much honor i'm so honored that you're my lord
[43:12]because they understood how important how great allah is and you see
[43:17]imam al hussein on the day of ashura he followed in the
[43:22]same footsteps of his father imam alhi he sees 30,000 enemies imam
[43:28]hussein sees 30,000 enemies in front of him does he care he
[43:32]doesn't see all those enemies all he sees is one thing he
[43:35]sees allah the satisfaction of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala when i reach
[43:39]that level that nothing matters besides allah death i'm not afraid of
[43:44]pain i'm not afraid of suffering i'm not afraid of the only
[43:48]thing i care about is to please the almighty allah subhanahu wa
[43:51]ta'ala and you find that it was the night of ashura it
[44:00]was the night of ashura it was the last night that these
[44:05]men these honorable dignified men they were present in karbala to protect
[44:11]the woman and protect the children abu fad al abbas the son
[44:18]of emir al mumineen he was excuse me he was guarding the
[44:24]tents outside and while he was guarding the tents his sister zaynab
[44:31]she comes out and as soon as she comes out of the
[44:34]tent in the middle of the night they should she should be
[44:36]sleeping abu fad al abbas he thinks this is one of the
[44:39]enemies there should be no one awake at this time so he
[44:42]quickly turns towards her direction he wants to take out her sword
[44:46]his sword he sees it's his sister zaynab so he tells her
[44:50]my dear sister zaynab why are you awake during this time of
[44:53]the night you should be sleeping how could zaynab sleep during that
[44:56]night she knows this is the last night that she's surrounded with
[45:00]hussein with abbas with ali al akbar with qasem how can she
[45:05]sleep knowing tomorrow she'll be all alone between the enemies with orphans
[45:09]and widows so she comes to him and the narration says my
[45:14]dear brother abbas i need to tell you something i just need
[45:17]to get this off my chest what is it my dear sister
[45:19]zaynab tell me anything and then she begins to tell him the
[45:23]story of how abul fadl abbas was born she tells him my
[45:27]dear younger brother abbas after our mother fatima died my father imam
[45:34]ali he went to his brother he went to his brother akil
[45:38]and he told him that i want you to find a wife
[45:42]for me and i want her to be from a courageous and
[45:45]brave family and aqeel he knew alm al ansab he knew all
[45:50]the families and all the lineages so he knew he was the
[45:53]one to find his wife so akhil tells him why why do
[45:57]you want such a wife from a very courageous and brave family
[46:01]he tells him because i want her to give me a very
[46:04]strong and brave child a child that fights with valor that fights
[46:08]with courage why because i want him to protect my son hussein
[46:13]in karbala allahu akbar forty years before karbala imam amir al mumineen
[46:19]is planning for imam hussein he's thinking about imam al hussain and
[46:23]how to protect him so and then zainab tells al abbas this
[46:27]is where akhil he goes and he finds al benin and then
[46:30]you're born so then she she tells him my dear brother abbas
[46:34]tomorrow on the day of ashura do not abandon your brother hussein
[46:38]the only reason you came to this world to this dunya was
[46:40]to protect hussein please tomorrow do not let any harm afflict your
[46:45]brother hussein as long as you're alive protect hussein till the last
[46:49]breath the hadith says that he put his his feet on the
[46:55]stirrup of the horse and he took out his sword and he
[46:58]started he started to tell zaynab he tells her my dear sister
[47:05]zaynab you don't need to encourage me i am the son of
[47:08]ali ibn abi talib and then he tells her he tells her
[47:14]tomorrow i will make you proud i will never abandon hussein till
[47:19]the last second my life is for hussein the day of ashura
[47:23]comes all of the companions have been killed all of the relatives
[47:27]have been killed none of them remain but abu fadul abbas and
[47:31]imam hussein abu fadul abbas he comes to his brother he tells
[47:35]him my dear brother hussein please give me permission to go and
[47:38]fight these enemies i can no longer bear the wickedness the evilness
[47:42]of these enemies one after the other they killed our men please
[47:46]let me go and kill a few of them i can no
[47:48]longer bear hear the cries of the children al atash al atash
[47:52]the thirst please let me go fight them imam hussain tells him
[47:56]my dear brother abbas i cannot let you go you're the one
[48:01]that holds my standard if you go who do i have after
[48:05]you abbas but then imam hussein he tells him but if you
[48:10]must go my dear brother then go and bring water for the
[48:14]children don't fight i'm afraid for you go and bring some water
[48:17]abu fadhul abbas rejoices he leaves a sword and he takes the
[48:22]bucket of water and he heads towards the euphrates the hadith says
[48:25]4,000 men were guarding the euphrates but this is the son of
[48:29]ali ibn abi talib you see abul fadl his name is what
[48:33]they call him qamar bani hashim he is the moon of bani
[48:37]hashim and as you all know the moon they say has no
[48:40]light of its own it takes the light of the sun and
[48:44]it reflects it back abu al fadlil abbas he was called because
[48:49]he would take the light of imam ali and he would reflect
[48:51]it he would take the light and glory of imam hussein and
[48:55]he would reflect it back so this is the son of imam
[48:57]ali he's a lion 4,000 men guard the euphrates he he moves
[49:02]them so easily he arrives at the euphrates he comes down from
[49:06]his horse imagine the condition of al abbas for three days he
[49:11]has not drank any water he's dying of thirst he puts his
[49:14]hand in the water instead of seeing his reflection in the water
[49:18]he sees sukaina he sees imam hussein he sees the parched lips
[49:23]of abba abdullah he takes the water he wants to drink but
[49:27]then he remembers hussein my brother hussein is still thirsty how can
[49:31]i drink water look at the loyalty of al abbas see the
[49:34]altruism that he teaches us and that's why we read in the
[49:38]the loyal brother of imam hussein he takes the water he wants
[49:45]to drink it drinks it he remembers his brother hussein so then
[49:49]he puts the water back and then the narrator say we began
[49:54]hearing abul fadlil abbas reciting these words he begins to speak to
[50:22]himself he tells himself abbas how can you drink water when hussein
[50:26]is thirsty how can you drink water when my brother the imam
[50:31]hussein is thirsty never will lie i won't drink water he takes
[50:35]the bucket he fills it with water and he mounts his horse
[50:39]he goes towards the direction of imam hussein and the children all
[50:43]he can hear in his mind all he can think about is
[50:47]the thirst of hussein and sukaina now it was only two three
[50:51]minutes to the tent but these two three minutes make such a
[50:55]big difference all of a sudden while he's carrying the bucket of
[50:58]water one of the enemies he comes and he ambushes him from
[51:02]behind and then he strikes the right hand of al abbas and
[51:06]he suffers it abu al fadhil abbas he carries the bucket of
[51:11]water with his left hand and he begins to say he says
[51:28]wallah if you if you cut my right hand i don't care
[51:32]about my right hand i sacrificed my right hand for imam hussein
[51:37]he didn't care about his hand he just cared about hussein in
[51:40]the water the imam continues further the imam carries the bucket with
[51:45]his left hand and then one of the enemies comes and he
[51:48]strikes the left hand of al abbas abu al fad al abbas
[51:53]now is carrying the bucket with his teeth all he cared about
[51:57]was the water all he cared about was to quench the thirst
[52:00]of sukainah and the itam and the orphans of abba abdullah while
[52:05]he's going to the tent there's not too much left one of
[52:08]the enemies strikes an arrow and it hits the bucket the bucket
[52:12]of water spills abu fadhil abbas the hadith says he he stands
[52:18]he he stood and he was so confused what should i do
[52:22]do i go back to hussein but i have no water do
[52:25]i go back to the enemies i have no hands what do
[52:28]i do and then the arrows they began to rain they began
