[0:10][Music] muhammad respected brothers and sisters the arabs of jahiliyyah were obsessed
[0:42]with their lineage which family you came from who's your father your
[0:50]grandfather this was very important in that society and it was important
[0:54]to other people meaning people they judged you and they valued you
[0:59]and treated you based on which family you came from as long
[1:02]as your father is alive your father was your protector your father
[1:06]was your guardian your father was the one that cared for you
[1:09]as they say they used to call the father the he was
[1:13]like a tent over his children and that's why in arabia there
[1:17]was a particular group of people that suffered and struggled greatly and
[1:21]that was the orphans an orphan growing up without especially their father
[1:27]they struggled a lot because usually they were neglected in that society
[1:31]they were marginalized not only that they were sometimes even stigmatized kids
[1:35]when they used to see an orphan come to play to play
[1:41]with them they used to say don't play with this child because
[1:43]he's an orphan so they look down upon a child that was
[1:46]orphaned and even after they grew that stigma continued with them that
[1:53]this person is an orphan and that's why they were seen what
[1:55]they were seen as second-class citizens and not only that but they
[2:01]were seen as vulnerable and weak and that's why an orphan was
[2:04]usually oppressed by his own family members either one of the uncles
[2:10]or the family members would usurp his money the money that he
[2:12]has inherited from his father they would put their eyes on the
[2:17]money of the child and they would use serpent and steal it
[2:19]or sometimes a young girl when her father dies she would be
[2:23]forced into marriage because the father figure isn't there to protect their
[2:28]children so this was how jahaliyah was with orphans when islam came
[2:33]islam came to protect the rights of orphans it put guidelines on
[2:37]how to treat the orphans and put an end to this oppression
[2:41]that's why you see in the holy quran allah azzawajal tells us
[2:45]some laws about how to deal with a yatim with a orphan
[2:50]for example in one verse allah azzawajal he tells us about how
[2:54]to socially deal with an orphan allah says in the holy quran
[3:01]they ask you about the time about the orphans how do we
[3:06]deal with them the holy quran says that do not let them
[3:16]feel that they are different because like it or not an orphan's
[3:22]life will never be like the life of a child who lives
[3:23]and grows up with his father with his mother when the father
[3:27]isn't there the child will have certain needs that he will be
[3:32]denied of the talk the father takes the child to a doctor
[3:34]when the when the child is sick but when the father isn't
[3:39]there the son that child has to look for someone else my
[3:42]uncle he has to look for his aunt he has to look
[3:43]for a friend for a neighbor when he comes to the masjid
[3:48]the father is holding the hands of his child anywhere the father
[3:50]goes he takes his children with him so that's why the arabs
[3:53]they used to see him as a tent but this poor orphan
[3:56]he does not have his father with him so he will have
[3:58]certain needs that he is deprived of the holy quran says you
[4:04]believers you try to what compensate for that need assalah compensate for
[4:10]that need don't let them feel different and mingle with them mix
[4:13]with them like your brothers brothers and sisters treat them as you
[4:17]treat anyone and especially during the time of jahalia when they like
[4:23]i said an orphan was looked down upon and stigmatized the holy
[4:26]quran said no socially you have to treat them like any other
[4:29]muslim in the community so this was one law that allah azzawajal
[4:34]spoke about in the holy quran regarding the itam the orphans number
[4:38]two in another verse allah gives us the laws of the physical
[4:43]property the wealth of an orphan allah says in the holy quran
[4:52]and do not approach do not come close to the money the
[4:58]property of an orphan unless it is in his best interest why
[5:00]does allah hazard say that because during the jahalia what would happen
[5:04]the father dies this is a young child he inherits money from
[5:08]his father right but he's a child he needs a custodian he
[5:11]needs a guardian his uncle would come his cousin would come right
[5:15]and with the pretext of taking care of that child they would
[5:19]take the money they would spend most of it 90 and then
[5:22]10 percent they would spend on the child so that's why they
[5:26]would be happy when they see a child as orphan because this
[5:29]was an opportunity to take his inheritance allah azza says in this
[5:34]verse this is haram do not touch the money of the orphan
[5:37]unless it is in his best interest you cannot spend one dollar
[5:41]one dime for you you want to be the guardian you want
[5:45]to be the wesley you want to be the wali fine but
[5:46]you have to make sure that you are keeping the interest of
[5:50]the child and mind in fact taking the money of the child
[5:56]is amongst the kabat the money of their team if someone spends
[5:58]a dollar of it allah says in another verse in the holy
[6:02]in the holy quran and those individuals that eat the money of
[6:19]their team they go and they unjustly take it they are eating
[6:23]fire in their stomach allah azzawajal will punish them for this and
[6:27]don't think this was just during the jahali up until this day
[6:31]brothers and sisters especially in the middle east i hear stories of
[6:33]a father that dies and the uncle comes and with the pretext
[6:37]of taking care of the child he takes the money for himself
[6:40]that brother was what his brother that died was wealthy so he
[6:42]takes most of the money and he leaves you know the the
[6:47]crumbs the crumbs for that poor orphan so this was number two
[6:50]the quran said it is haram to touch the money of the
[6:55]orphan unless it is in his interest this was number two financially
[6:58]so number one we said socially number two we said financially and
[7:02]number three emotionally and psychologically the holy quran says when it comes
[7:11]to the team be very careful of his emotions do not disturb
[7:15]him do not bother him do not disappoint him don't make him
[7:20]cry why because this child has enough to deal with he's lost
[7:24]his father she's lost her mother he has enough sorrow and pain
[7:27]to deal with so much grievances that they have now you come
[7:31]and you want to upset them no when you know a child
[7:34]is an orphan you have to be extra sensitive with this child
[7:37]because there is so much sorrow in this child's heart yesterday i
[7:41]saw a video clip they sent of a young child in iraq
[7:47]he seemed to be about 10 years old so there's this reporter
[7:50]who's doing an interview with him on camera he tells him why
[7:54]did you leave school he left school he said because i have
[7:57]to make a living i said my mother died and my father
[8:02]died and i have younger brothers and sisters that i have to
[8:04]take care of them so i have to go out and work
[8:07]he goes and he collects garbage i don't know what he collects
[8:09]some stuff and he goes sells it for such a cheap price
[8:13]so he says because of that i cannot work anymore and then
[8:16]the child started to cry he said i wish i could you
[8:20]know follow my mother and i could be also in her grave
[8:22]with her i don't want to live in this life anymore can
[8:25]you imagine what type of life this orphan has to live so
[8:29]the quran says be extra careful with their team make sure you
[8:34]never disappoint them you never yell at them you never make them
[8:37]sad you never make them cry because they have enough to deal
[8:41]with that's why there's a hadith thank you brother thank you so
[8:52]much thank you there is a hadith from rasulullah or afan from
[9:00]ali where the imam says it's a very very touching hadith and
[9:05]a powerful hadith the imam says it the throne of god shakes
[9:19]allah doesn't want to hear that's the last person allah wants to
[9:23]hear crying because he's been through so much pain and then allah
[9:30]says who is this person that's making this your team cry who
[9:33]has the audacity to make this your team cry and then the
[9:37]prophet said allah azza says whoever hears their team crying an orphan
[9:46]crying and then he goes and he quiets that child he gives
[9:50]them some candy he gives them some money or he just gives
[9:53]them love and affection allah azzawajal will give this person jannah paradise
[9:57]the ultimate grand prize of allah paradise to the one that quiets
[10:02]their team so be extra careful and sensitive with the team the
[10:07]holy prophet sallallahu alaihi sallam tells amir al-mu'min whoever men he says
[10:17]whoever wipes his hand on the head of their team this is
[10:22]a sign of affection of love of mercy anytime you see a
[10:26]yatim just go and wipe your hand on their heads the prophet
[10:30]tells imam ali whoever does this allah will give him for each
[10:33]hair of that child for each strain of hair allah will give
[10:38]him allah azza will give you so much nur on the day
[10:43]of judgment just because you are showing this mercy to these atoms
[10:48]and that's why when you see the life of rasulullah the holy
[10:53]prophet was very sensitive he was very caring he was very kind
[10:56]he was very merciful and affectionate with atam jaffar when he died
[11:02]the brother of imam ali and the cousin of rasulullah when he
[11:05]was killed he left two young orphans one of them was abdullah
[11:09]ibn jaffar the husband later of say the zainab the prophet went
[11:23]to the house of jaffar his wife opened the door he told
[11:27]her where are the two sons the the two sons the two
[11:32]orphans now of uh they came out the holy prophet he hugged
[11:35]them and he started to wipe his hands on their head abdullah
[11:38]jafar says i never forgot that even as he grew he says
[11:42]i never forget the day that rasulullah did that to us that
[11:45]was so important for us he's telling them you've lost your father
[11:49]but i am here for you so this is a sign of
[11:52]mercy that rasulullah would always show to any team he would see
[11:56]and one reason mothers and sisters that rasulullah was so affectionate with
[12:00]orphans was because he himself was an orphan rasulullah was born without
[12:07]a father his father died when his mother was pregnant he never
[12:11]saw his father abdullah so he grew up in arabia as an
[12:17]orphan unfortunately people they used to look down they used to call
[12:20]him their team and even when he began to preach islam people
[12:23]they use this against him we follow the you know the arrogant
[12:27]people of quraish we follow this yeti we follow this arrogant who
[12:30]doesn't have a father so this this was a stigma that they
[12:35]held against rasulullah he was born without a father so the prophet
[12:39]had felt what you know he had tasted what it felt like
[12:42]to grow up without that father figure with you he had tasted
[12:46]that bitterness and not only did he lose his father when he
[12:49]was six years old his mother amina tells him let's go and
[12:53]visit the grave of your father in medina because rasulullah is in
[12:57]mecca and abdullah was buried in medina so she tells him let's
[13:02]go and visit him so they go on a trip rasulullah is
[13:04]excited now he's going to go and visit the grave of his
[13:07]father for the first time he goes to medina he visits the
[13:11]grave of his father abdullah and then they head back to mecca
[13:15]in the middle of the way they stop in an area called
[13:20]between mecca and medina his mother gets sick she gets so sick
[13:22]that she can no longer continue the journey she gets worse and
[13:26]worse her health deteriorates until amina his mother dies in and he's
[13:30]all alone far from his family rasulullah dies he's sleeping next to
[13:35]amina they come they see him he's sleeping a six-year-old boy next
[13:41]to his mother now he's lost his father and mother this is
[13:45]so difficult brothers and sisters rasulullah turned to see no parents so
[13:49]he went back to mecca who was it it was his grandfather
[13:53]abdul muttalib that cared for rasulullah abdul muttalib loved rasulullah so he
[13:59]cared for him and he was very merciful and kind with rasulullah
[14:06]until rasulullah was eight years old so two years after abdul muttalib
[14:09]now is on his deathbed he's about to die subhanallah from one
[14:15]caretaker to another rasulullah abdullah abdullah is on his deathbed all his
[14:21]sons are in front of him he asks rasool allah muhammad who
[14:23]do you want which one of your uncles do you want to
[14:27]you know to live with who do you want to take care
[14:30]of you so the holy prophet he looked at the faces of
[14:34]subhanallah even radha hadith the abu lahab even from those days he
[14:37]hated rasulullah when abdullah was dying the prophet used to go and
[14:42]stand next to him abu lahab would keep on removing him he
[14:44]would tell him move away from abdul muttalib even from those days
[14:48]he used to hate his nephew muhammad so anyway he looked at
[14:53]the faces of his uncles until he looked at the face of
[14:57]abu talib the father of amir al-mu'min and he said i want
[15:00]abu talib he chose him so he went and abu talib cared
[15:05]for him and this is where allah azza says in the holy
[15:08]quran he tells him about allah tells him how much he gave
[15:11]him he gave the prophet he says rasulullah weren't you an orphan
[15:19]but every time you lost someone i found someone to come and
[15:22]protect you and care for you when your father died your mother
[15:24]was there when your mother died i i brought abdul muttalib to
[15:29]protect you abdul muttalib died finally the greatest care taker of rasulullah
[15:33]was abu talib he loved him so much he used to treat
[15:38]him just like his own son even when he used to travel
[15:41]he would not keep him back in mecca because he would be
[15:45]afraid that somewhat something may happen to muhammad he used to some
[15:47]i even read it on hadith when he used to sleep he
[15:50]used to tell muhammad to sleep next to him when he was
[15:56]a child this is how much love he had for the holy
[15:59]prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam so this is the affection of rasulullah towards
[16:05]orphans look at imam ali imam ali one of his traits was
[16:08]that he was very affectionate caring loving and merciful with the orphans
[16:12]in fact there is a poem in arabic that is attributed to
[16:17]amir al-mu'min alaihi about orphans and how much he loves for them
[16:20]the poem says the imam says the pain that i have for
[16:37]an orphan is the greatest pain i really feel sorry for the
[16:42]orphan because at that young age they lose their father their caregiver
[16:45]the father is supposed to spend on the child but they lose
[16:49]that father the father is supposed to take care of them but
[16:51]they have lost their father so that's why this really breaks the
[16:54]heart of amin anytime he would see a team habib narrates that
[17:00]imam ali was the khalifa they brought honey from somewhere they brought
[17:05]large quantities of honey assal to amir al-mu'min ali anytime they would
[17:11]bring something they would bring money they would bring food right away
[17:14]the same day he would give it all out and that's why
[17:17]they say the day he became khalifa he entered baitil mal filled
[17:22]with money and he emptied all of it people came by the
[17:25]thousands by the flocks they took it until baitum was empty not
[17:30]a single durham or dinar was remaining and then the imam he
[17:34]vacuumed it and he prayed two like us to allah azzawajal when
[17:37]it was empty so they brought the assal the honey habib he
[17:41]said the imam formed two lines one line for everyone and a
[17:47]special line for the orphans he says the orphans they all came
[17:51]the orphans of el-khufa they came to amir al-mu'min in alayhi and
[17:55]the imam himself he would feed them with his own holy hands
[18:00]said the imam he took so much of his time so that
[18:03]he would feed one orphan one after the other allahu akbar so
[18:07]one of his companions asked why are you doing this you don't
[18:12]have to do this you're the khalifa now the imam said the
[18:17]imam i am the father of the eta who do they turn
[18:19]to if they don't have a father they come to the they
[18:22]come to me i am the father of the eighth and that's
[18:25]why when imam ali alayhi salaam was struck by eben muljam the
[18:31]orphans all came by the house of imam ali they were crying
[18:33]our father because imam ali used to treat them like their own
[18:37]like his own children so the hadith says that this companion of
[18:40]the imam he says that when the people saw that imam ali
[18:45]is feeding the orphans with his own hand some of them said
[18:48]wallahi i wish i was an orphan just so i can be
[18:52]fed from the holy hands of amir al-mu'min what a blessing girls
[18:56]that imam ali feeds you with that honey isn't it a blessing
[19:00]some people they said i wish i was an orphan just so
[19:03]i can receive this blessing in sha allah you all receive the
[19:06]blessing when we receive that drink from how the author insha allah
[19:11]on the day of judgment imam ali is the sati he is
[19:14]the one that gives everyone the drink from the pool of al-qauthar
[19:18]in paradise paradise insha allah to allah so amir al-mu'min was so
[19:23]affectionate look at his he reminds them about the obligations and then
[19:32]he says be careful do not neglect the time do not forget
[19:38]about the atom take care of them and then he said make
[19:45]sure you don't neglect them you don't forget about them you feed
[19:48]them every day this was always on the mind of amir al-munidha
[19:52]the soft and affectionate heart of amir al-mu'manin and that's why we
[19:58]have a hadith that tell us one of the greatest that you
[20:02]can do you want to do a mustahab a good act rewards
[20:05]you take care of your team find a team somewhere in masha'allah
[20:11]we have so many we have so there's so many in iraq
[20:12]and lebanon and afghanistan pakistan and india and all these countries and
[20:16]take care of him now either by sending him the money and
[20:19]there's institutions that even do that you just give them the money
[20:24]and then they provide for the atom or bring them in better
[20:28]yet bring them into your own house and raise him like your
[20:33]own child there's a hadith of the prophet he says the best
[20:39]house of the muslims is a house this is a blessed house
[20:42]where there is a team being taken care of you raise ayatim
[20:46]in your house this is the best house of the muslims and
[20:51]obviously the famous hadith of the prophet you've all heard he says
[20:54]one day he told his companions me and the caretaker the caregiver
[21:01]of the yatim of the orphan are like this meaning he is
[21:03]with me in paradise he will be with my you know in
[21:07]the same level of rasulallah in paradise because you are taken care
[21:10]of by a team someone that has lost his father or his
[21:15]mother now the prophet says if you take care of a team
[21:18]and normally a team right you will be with rasulullah imagine if
[21:24]you are the caretaker of rasulullah himself what will his position be
[21:29]on the day of judgment brothers so i ask you if you
[21:31]take care of a normal average child of the street the prophet
[21:35]says that you will be in jannah with me imagine if you
[21:40]are the caretaker of rasulullah himself what is the status of abu
[21:44]talib it is beyond our comprehension brothers and sisters abu talib the
[21:49]caretaker of rasulallah his status is beyond our imagination and one hadith
[21:56]says about abu talib and tonight is the seventh of the seventh
[22:00]night of ramadan this is when we remember abu talib he died
[22:03]on the seventh of ramadan so we commemorate this great legend number
[22:24]one he said sulbun anzalek is the loins that conceived you number
[22:33]two the womb that carried you and number three wahedron and number
[22:38]three is the lap that took care of you that raised you
[22:41]after you were an orphan and then jabra'il explained as for the
[22:43]first one abdullah conceived you the second one is your mother amina
[22:48]who carried you and third one was your caretaker and that was
[22:55]gave him protection and him and uh the father of rasulullah and
[23:01]his mother they gave all of them the allah gave them protection
[23:08]from nara jahannam to put all of the iman of human beings
[23:15]on one side of a scale and he puts the iman of
[23:19]abu talib on the other side he says the iman of abu
[23:23]talib would be heavier allahu akbar not only did he protect rasulullah
[23:28]he believed in rasulullah not only did he believe ali says his
[23:32]iman was greater than the iman of all humanity may allah azzawajal
[23:41]grant us the ability that we can also follow in the footsteps
[23:44]of abu talib cared for rasulullah he was the caretaker of rasulullah
[23:49]in sha allah we can become we can care for the cause
[23:53]of rasulullah the faith the religion of rasulullah we can support the
[23:59]religion of rasulullah in the same way supported rasulullah himself muhammad
