[0:40]one beautiful hadith tells us that god keeps a record of everything
[0:46]so there is an angel who is responsible for counting the drops
[0:51]of rain that fall to the earth from the sky just imagine
[0:55]every single day how many billions of raindrops fall to the earth
[1:02]so this angel has that capacity to count them allah subhana ta'ala
[1:09]commands this angel when a a believer says the salawat allah tells
[1:15]this angel count how much good deeds hasanat i've given to my
[1:22]servant for saying the salawat so this angel is now using all
[1:28]the power and the capacity that he has to count the hassanat
[1:32]until he stops he says oh allah you've given you've given such
[1:35]an amazing reward to your servant for saying the salawat and his
[1:55]immaculate family of the bait so with that i would like to
[1:58]congratulate you all on the birth of god's greatest creation the holy
[2:07]prophet muhammad sallallahu alaihi and his beloved grandson our dear imam the
[2:13]sixth imam of bait al-imam jaffar assad muhammad you have the greatest
[2:37]and highest character the finest character the prophet sallallahu alaihi brought many
[2:46]contributions he's god's greatest creation but one very important mercy that the
[2:56]prophet delivered to us is his character and he offers us a
[3:04]university in moral virtues and as we gather to celebrate the legacy
[3:10]of our prophet let us remember his excellent character remember the prophet
[3:18]is disciplined by god can you just imagine he famously stated the
[3:26]almighty god is the one who's mannered me disciplined me inspired me
[3:31]with my akhlaq and so he's given me the best of manners
[3:36]now there is so much to learn from the akhlaq of the
[3:40]prophet sallallahu alaihi but tonight i would like to just highlight one
[3:44]of the moral virtues of the prophet and see how we can
[3:48]apply this in our everyday life one of the beautiful moral virtues
[3:55]of the prophet is what is called wafa in arabic do you
[4:01]know what waffa is the best translation to affa in english is
[4:08]loyalty when you have the moral virtue of being loyal to others
[4:15]we call this wafa no human being in history showed like the
[4:23]prophet sallallahu alaihi loyalty means that you do not forget the favors
[4:28]of others on you loyalty means that you appreciate the services of
[4:35]others loyalty means that you don't forget others in the past someone
[4:42]helped you your old friends relatives you stay loyal to them by
[4:51]remembering their sacrifices their services you appreciate them and you honor them
[4:57]that's what the prophet teaches us through his life beautiful examples in
[5:05]wafa and i would like to share with you snippets of his
[5:10]biography on life to learn this amazing moral virtue after the battle
[5:16]of hunain which was a very important battle in islam as these
[5:22]pagan tribes mobilized and conspired and collaborated to kill the prophet and
[5:30]the muslims it was a very difficult battle many muslims at the
[5:34]time the companions they had doubts the quran describes that but allah
[5:39]gave them victory now one of those villages that had waged a
[5:45]war against the muslims was the village of the tribe of hawazin
[5:49]it was a very important tribe so now that the muslims gained
[5:54]victory they captured them they took them as captives and they brought
[5:59]them to medina so the prophet could decide what happens to them
[6:04]how should he release them one of those who were held captive
[6:08]from the tribe of hawazin was a lady by the name of
[6:14]ashayma they were taking her to medina to the prophet she told
[6:19]the companions of the prophet do you know who i am how
[6:24]dare you take me as a captive they told her who are
[6:30]you she said i am the sister of your prophet in suckling
[6:34]in rada i'm the sister of your prophet my mother nursed your
[6:41]prophet she breast fed your prophet they had doubts about what she
[6:46]said we don't know who you are sorry let's take you to
[6:50]the prophet you explain it to him then we'll decide so they
[6:52]take him to the prophet the prophet asks her who are you
[6:58]tell me she says i am shayma i am your sister in
[7:01]suckling i am the daughter of halima haleima is the lady who
[7:08]took care of the prophet for a number of years and she
[7:11]nursed the prophet she told the prophet i am her daughter and
[7:17]remember when you were a child in our village we took care
[7:21]of you sometimes i would carry you i would spend time with
[7:25]you when my mother was busy remember that the prophet said yes
[7:30]i do remember that i do not deny that and in fact
[7:35]we are going to forgive you you have favorites on me and
[7:43]i am thankful to that i am grateful to that so tell
[7:45]me would you like to stay here in medina and we'll take
[7:48]excellent care of you or if you'd like to go back to
[7:52]your village we'll let you go back to your village she said
[7:54]no ya rasulallah i prefer to go back to my village he
[7:59]says fine go the prophet asked trustworthy companions to take her safely
[8:03]to her village and he sent her precious gifts my dear brothers
[8:09]and sisters this is a simple act of loyalty see the prophet
[8:13]today in medina he's in the position of power he's a states
[8:17]leader he achieved victory in that battle when she reminded him of
[8:23]something that she had done in the past carrying him when he
[8:26]was a child the prophet did not deny that he acknowledged it
[8:30]he recognized it that's what that's a true leader a true leader
[8:35]is the one who does not forget those who did goodness to
[8:40]him in the past even if it was a simple act you
[8:43]acknowledge it that's a beautiful lesson for us my dear brothers and
[8:47]sisters so this is one example from the life of the prophet
[8:57]salallahu another example is with the ansar those who supported the prophet
[9:02]in medina when he migrated from mecca to medina year 7 of
[9:08]the hijrah during the conquest of mecca when allah gave the prophet
[9:14]victory over mecca without a war without a drop of blood being
[9:16]spilled the prophet came to make a victorious allah had promised him
[9:21]that the prophet stood on the mount of asafa which is right
[9:25]by mr haram you do the sa between asafa and al-marwa the
[9:32]prophet stood supplicating and praying now the ansar the residents of medina
[9:36]they were concerned they discussed amongst themselves the following question now that
[9:46]the prophet has achieved victory do you think he's going to leave
[9:50]medina and stay in mecca it's his hometown he was born here
[9:54]he loves mecca and now god has given him victory do you
[9:57]think he's going to move and leave us abandon us in medina
[10:02]and take his new residence in in mecca they were discussing this
[10:07]the prophet overheard them as he was supplicating so when the prophet
[10:10]finished he came to them he told them what exactly were you
[10:14]discussing they said nothing rasulullah never mind he said no i insist
[10:21]please tell me they said nothing it's not that important three times
[10:24]he asked them to tell him what they were discussing finally they
[10:28]said okay we'll tell you we were wondering if you're going to
[10:33]move from medina to mecca look at the response of rasulullah the
[10:38]prophet says hey hot impossible i lived with you you take care
[10:50]of me and i will die with you in medina see that's
[10:53]loyalty the prophet didn't tell the ansar yeah i used you i
[10:58]benefited from your support in medina but now that i'm powerful and
[11:01]i have victory i'm going to leave and go back to mecca
[11:06]no i lived with you you guys lived with me i will
[11:08]die with you and the prophet went back to medina and he
[11:10]stayed in medina till the last day of his life and he
[11:13]passed away in the city of medina that's a lesson in loyalty
[11:18]brothers and sisters you acknowledge those who stood with you you don't
[11:22]forget them you don't abandon them wafa it's a beautiful quality to
[11:30]have another example from the life of the prophet sallallahu alaihi is
[11:34]that the prophet had loyalty even with his enemies there was a
[11:39]man in mecca by the name of abu bukhturi he was a
[11:44]mushrik a pagan did not believe in islam he rejected the message
[11:49]of the prophet but he had one positive thing he never attacked
[11:54]the prophet in medina he never slandered the prophet he never insulted
[11:59]the prophet he was decent from that aspect yes he did not
[12:03]become muslim he did not accept the message of islam he did
[12:07]not follow the prophet but he never insulted the prophet the day
[12:13]of badr comes the first major major battle in the history of
[12:21]islam the muslims are 313 the enemies are about a thousand three
[12:24]times their numbers the prophet issues a command to his companions he
[12:30]tells them if you see abul here even in the battleground do
[12:38]not kill him allahu akbar look at the mercy look at the
[12:42]loyalty he's a pagan he's come with their armies yes and mecca
[12:46]he was decent he did not attack me he did not insult
[12:52]me he did not mobilize against me like these other pagans he
[12:55]was decent sure he's not a believer he's rejected the message of
[13:03]god but because he was decent even if you see him in
[13:07]the battlefield do not kill him that's loyalty see how the prophet
[13:10]appreciates any goodness that you have some people when there is a
[13:16]dispute that's it in their eyes you become the devil himself they
[13:21]for they overlook any goodness that you have not rasulullah he acknowledged
[13:27]decency when he saw it and that is one beautiful aspect of
[13:34]his loyalty and that's beautiful that's fascinating my dear brothers and sisters
[13:38]to hear this from the life of the prophet sallallahu alaihi another
[13:44]example of loyalty in the life of the prophet is with his
[13:49]family life the wife who stood by the prophet and sacrificed like
[13:57]no other was lady hadid you know how loyal the prophet was
[14:03]to her years after she passed away the prophets in medina he
[14:06]has other wives he's a state's leader he's got a million things
[14:12]on his mind the prophet would always remember khadijah and he would
[14:16]cry and he would say khadijah supported me when everyone abandoned me
[14:20]he kept mentioning her mentioning her such that muslim historical reports from
[14:28]sunni sources and shia sources state some of his wives like aisha
[14:31]would get agitated they would tell him ya rasulullah enough you bring
[14:36]her every you mention her every time the prophet would get upset
[14:39]his face would become red and he would say no khadijah has
[14:44]favors on me khadijah sacrificed i'll never forget her sacrifices and you
[14:50]know what the prophet would do narrate she says sometimes i see
[14:54]the prophet sending gifts let's say someone donates a sheep to the
[15:00]prophet so they have it divided in two parts so they can
[15:02]give to let's say the poor the prophet would take only something
[15:07]small for his household asha says i would see the prophet sending
[15:11]these gifts to these women and i didn't know who they were
[15:18]why is the prophet sending it to these old women why are
[15:21]they so special i asked them ya rasulullah why are you sending
[15:25]these gifts to these women what have they done for you the
[15:29]prophet says they are the old friends of khadijah and they remind
[15:33]me of khadijah and i want to honor khadijah look at loyalty
[15:37]that's wafa and it's beautiful in its most beautiful form and one
[15:42]day an old lady comes to the house of the prophet i
[15:45]saw the prophet showing her so much respect so when she left
[15:50]i told the prophet what's so special about her the prophet says
[15:53]during the days of khadija sometimes she'd come to the house of
[15:58]khadija so this lady reminds me of khadijah and to honor my
[16:02]wife khadija i respect her see the beautiful wafa in the life
[16:07]of the prophet my dear brothers and sisters i'll be honest with
[16:10]you today one challenge one crisis i'll even call it that we
[16:15]have in our families especially in marital challenges and disputes and problems
[16:21]is that too often the husband and the wife they don't show
[16:25]loyalty to each other they forget the good past there's a problem
[16:31]there's a fight now they overlook 10 15 years she stood by
[16:38]your side she was there at home raising the children you both
[16:43]sacrificed now because of this dispute you want to dismiss all of
[16:46]that and attack her and bring her down and sometimes she does
[16:51]the same your husband 15 years he's been working hard now because
[16:55]you have a misunderstanding there's a big fight you dismiss all of
[17:00]that suddenly he's such a bad person suddenly he's the worst person
[17:07]on earth where's the loyalty remember those good days remember those good
[17:14]qualities allah expects that from us when allah talks about these marital
[17:20]challenges allah says once one thing that's so beautiful allah says in
[17:23]the holy quran that's the least okay even if you want to
[17:29]separate now the quran says don't forget each other's favors don't forget
[17:36]each other's services don't forget that remember all those good years that
[17:42]you both sacrificed be loyal be fair don't dismiss that many times
[17:47]i've seen this happening we quickly dismiss it all that passed down
[17:52]the drain i don't care about it anymore because of this last
[17:55]big fight that's not fair you can't just dump 15 years of
[17:59]goodness like that 15 years of hard work like that allah does
[18:03]not accept that from us learn from the loyalty of the prophet
[18:07]sallallahu alaihi that's the least that you can do at least acknowledge
[18:11]that past and that goodness so we see that in the family
[18:16]life of the prophet loyalty was a very important virtue and quality
[18:23]that the prophet displayed amongst his family members another beautiful example of
[18:32]loyalty from the life of the prophet is that when the prophet
[18:36]now became a community leader in medina there was a man a
[18:42]bedouin man from the pre-islamic days who had once hosted the prophet
[18:48]the prophet was his guest he offered some water food for the
[18:51]prophet nothing special nothing fancy just simple food his friends went to
[18:58]him they told him remember decades ago this man muhammad was your
[19:04]guest and you served him food it's like yeah i remember they're
[19:09]like guess what now he has a community in medina he has
[19:12]access to resources basically they were telling him go get something out
[19:19]of him so this man he got happy he came to medina
[19:22]he met the prophet he told him remember decades ago you were
[19:29]my guest and i gave you that food the prophet said yes
[19:33]i acknowledge that i don't deny it i don't deny that tell
[19:36]me what do you want he told the prophet i want 200
[19:43]sheep wow that's a lot of money back then one sheep was
[19:46]a lot of money the companions didn't like that you know this
[19:50]guy come on you gave one small meal to the prophet decades
[19:54]ago now you want all this money from him the prophet ordered
[19:59]his companions and he told them give them what give him what
[20:04]he wants it's okay you serve me in the past and passed
[20:06]i'll compensate him look at the loyalty of the prophet he took
[20:12]the 200 sheep and he left now come here to know the
[20:19]impeccable of the prophet salallahu now the companions probably expected the prophet
[20:24]to say something negative maybe to say ah look at this greedy
[20:30]person after all these years he's come and he wants you know
[20:37]200 sheep from me maybe to say something negative about him look
[20:41]at the prophet you know what the prophet said the prophet said
[20:46]this man salaam alaikum allah the prophet said this man could have
[20:51]asked for more he could have asked what the old lady of
[20:56]bani israel asked they told him ya rasulallah what did the old
[21:03]lady of bani israel ask the prophet told them it's a long
[21:07]story how allah commanded prophet musa alayhi salaam to look for the
[21:12]remains and the bones of prophet yusuf there was one lady one
[21:17]old lady from bani israel who knew where the remains and the
[21:20]bones of prophet yusuf were so prophet musa comes to her he
[21:25]tells her lady you know where it is show it to me
[21:28]this is the command of allah she says sure i will but
[21:32]it won't be for free he told her okay what do you
[21:36]want she said i want two things number one i'm old ask
[21:39]your lord to make me youthful again like number two i want
[21:45]to be with you in your level in paradise prophet muhammad according
[21:52]to the hadith he was disturbed by her request that's a huge
[21:56]request to make but it was the order of allah you have
[21:58]to find those bones so he accepted look at the akhlaq of
[22:05]the prophet sallallahu alaihi he did not put that bedouin down he
[22:09]did not say oh this greedy man he came and he asked
[22:12]200 sheep from me just because decades earlier he had served me
[22:20]with a small meal the prophet said he could have asked more
[22:22]he asked for something that's trivial that simple he could have asked
[22:28]much more look at the loyalty of the prophet look at the
[22:30]prophet sallallahu alaihi one beautiful quality that we learn from him is
[22:37]his waffa be loyal don't forget those who had favors on you
[22:43]many many times we see this every day happening in our communities
[22:48]people who are now well off or life is good for them
[22:56]they forget all those who stood by their side i have a
[22:59]friend my dear brothers and sisters i met him many years ago
[23:02]in another state i went there for the month of ramadan alhamdulillah
[23:07]allah had given him a good life he was well off and
[23:13]he was establishing his businesses my friend told me a few years
[23:20]ago by the way when i met him i witness how i
[23:22]witnessed how he would help his friends he would help them establish
[23:28]their new business he would give them a loan some of them
[23:31]he'd give them a gift that's how generous he was with his
[23:34]friends who had just immigrated they were settling down they didn't know
[23:40]how to start a business he would help them years later he
[23:43]went through a financial crisis and a health crisis he went overseas
[23:50]to his home country he had a car accident that crippled him
[23:54]for a while to a point he reached a point where he
[23:59]didn't have any money for his family they're very difficult test he
[24:05]told me saying i called every one of my friends that friend
[24:10]whom i'd had given fifty thousand dollars that friend whom i had
[24:13]given ten thousand i had helped him establish his business i called
[24:18]them i just asked them for something simple can you give me
[24:22]five thousand dollars now and i'll pay it back later he told
[24:26]me say not one of my friends gave me a single dollar
[24:30]he says that day i realized who a true friend is i
[24:34]thought i had many friends but when allah put me to the
[24:40]trial and put them to the trial i realized not one of
[24:44]them was a true friend there's no loyalty some people don't have
[24:49]this virtue of waffa if we take one beautiful lesson from the
[24:54]life of the prophet is his waffa fact that he had that
[25:00]loyalty he'd acknowledge those who did goodness even his enemies as we
[25:09]mentioned with abu bakr even these enemies the prophet if they had
[25:13]some decency he would recognize that and he would truly appreciate that
[25:19]i have another friend here in north america who once told me
[25:24]about something that's striking that tells you how much waffa we have
[25:28]in the community around the world with most people he told me
[25:33]said many years ago this is about maybe 30 years ago in
[25:38]the 90s this man is charitable he has a lot of charity
[25:42]projects he says one day a man called me from overseas from
[25:45]the middle east he was exiled from his home country so he
[25:49]called me from another country no need to mention the names of
[25:54]the countries now he told me hajiflan i've heard that you're charitable
[25:58]and you do many good things i would like to go to
[26:03]hajj this upcoming year but i don't have the funds can you
[26:09]help me he says i told him sure i will sponsor your
[26:16]hud so he sponsored his hajj and he went many years later
[26:21]the situation changes the government and that country changes this person this
[26:27]same person becomes a prime minister just imagine now my friend says
[26:32]one day after he became the prime minister i called him i
[26:37]called him and he says wallah i did not want anything from
[26:41]him just an old time friend i want to say salaam to
[26:47]him so i spoke to him i told him i am so
[26:48]and so how are you he told me who i told him
[26:51]saw a person from this city from this place he told me
[26:56]i can't remember who you are i told him what do you
[27:00]mean you can't remember me i am so and so remember that
[27:01]year you called me from that city you wanted to go to
[27:06]hajj i sponsored your hajj i'm that person he said sorry i
[27:10]don't recognize you and he hung up the phone look there's no
[27:14]a fight here even though this man didn't really want anything from
[27:18]him probably he thought that now he's trying to use that incident
[27:21]to get something out of him to use connections with him there's
[27:25]no affa you forget those people who stood by your side not
[27:31]rasulullah the prophet would always acknowledge those who did good to him
[27:39]one beautiful narration about the najashi the najashi was the king of
[27:46]habasha abyssinia at the time ethiopia and najashi did goodness to the
[27:50]muslims according to one beautiful narration jaffar tayyar the brother of imam
[27:58]ali salam the cousin of the prophet sallallahu alaihi he said to
[28:02]the prophet after he came back from habasha he said to the
[28:07]prophet ya rasool allah one day i saw something interesting from the
[28:11]najashi i went to visit him i saw him sitting on the
[28:15]floor without his crown without his royal clothes in a very humble
[28:24]state so i told him o king i see you in a
[28:26]very unusual state you're not in your royal clothes you're not wearing
[28:30]your crown what happened the najashi told me oh jaffa in the
[28:33]bible we read that when god gives you a gift you thank
[28:39]him by humbling yourself by displaying humbleness i told him what gift
[28:46]are you thanking allah for jaffar says the najashi told me just
[28:52]now news has reached me that your cousin muhammad allah gave him
[28:58]victory in the face of his enemies so i'm thanking the almighty
[29:04]god for that because i know your cousin is on the right
[29:07]path the prophet did not forget this beautiful stance from najashi so
[29:16]one year when the najashi sent a group of pastors a group
[29:22]of religious christian scholars to meet the prophet you know what the
[29:25]prophet did as they entered the masjid the companions got up to
[29:31]personally serve them the prophet said no i will serve them with
[29:35]my own hands they told them no ya rasulallah you don't need
[29:40]to do that the prophet said no i will serve them because
[29:43]they are coming from najashi so he got up with his own
[29:48]hands he served them that's loyalty he did not forget the act
[29:54]of goodness from the najashi when it came to giving the muslims
[29:59]that refuge so my dear brothers and sisters one of the most
[30:03]beautiful qualities that we learned from this great and amazing prophet is
[30:10]the quality of waffle my my iman cannot be completed without this
[30:17]beautiful quality all those in the past who've stood with you with
[30:20]your parents with your family acknowledge it today appreciate each other's efforts
[30:27]and that way you will uphold the beautiful legacy of the greatest
[30:35]creation of once again my dear brothers and sisters i congratulate you
[30:47]on this beautiful occasion i ask allah subhanahu ta'ala to bless you
[30:52]all and your families and to protect you all wasalamu alaikum warahmatullahi
