[2:46]hearts for the hening of the reappearance of Enlighten your souls and

[2:54]the atmosphere with the recitation ofat upon Muhammad Muhammad [Music] respected Elders

[3:03]brothers and sisters he was one of the most well-known Servants of

[3:13]Amir a man beloved to the commander of the faithful and to

[3:18]the a man who dedicated his life towards the service of the

[3:26]commander of the faithful and an individual who died and gave his

[3:30]life in honor of the love of Al hamdan also known as

[3:41]Abu hamdan was one of the most well-known Servants of the commander

[3:46]of the [Music] faithful in many occasions we hear the name in

[4:00]the here that when sometimes stories of the life of are mentioned

[4:07]the name is referred toar is a well-known figure in some circles

[4:11]but in other places he may not necessarily be the case in

[4:15]that you find when it comes to the illustrious life of Amir

[6:50]and slaves meaning back in the time the idea of servitude or

[6:53]to have slaves was common and this was part and parcel of

[6:56]society it was something that Society especially in Arab was very much

[7:03]built on and gradually Islam developed a system of emancipation meaning the

[9:11]of Amir said this man is uh exceptional why are you purchasing

[9:15]him in such an amount he said don't worry when he purchased

[9:19]him he said to him what is your name mam would say

[9:25]to him my name is Sal or Sal Amir said no your

[9:26]name is mam the man said how did you know no one

[9:31]other than my mother knew my real name he said don't worry

[9:34]you will discover many things that you don't know that I know

[13:06]life of this individual who the servant of why because today you

[13:12]will not find books about him you will not find lectures about

[13:15]him in fact many of the people who are non arabic speaking

[13:21]have misspelled his name I was looking online I saw many people

[13:25]placing his name as with a M with a M his name

[13:32]is with a noon with an N not yes so in recognition

[13:34]of his status and in order for us to be inspired by

[13:39]the life of the Amir I would like to look at this

[13:44]man and importantly what did he relate to you and I as

[13:49]far as the legacy of the commander of the faithful [Music] as

[14:03]with many individuals in history there is no recognition or recording of

[14:07]the date of birth we do not knowuh muham we do not

[14:22]know of the date of the birth of this individual however because

[14:26]he was marted in the year 95 after Hijra according to narrations

[14:32]and he was 75 years of age it's likely that he was

[14:35]born in the year 20 after Hijra or perhaps a few years

[14:41]earlier he was born yet not much is known about his fly

[14:44]early few years except that what except that he was purchased by

[22:24]faithful his attributes and his characteristics that's why I would like like

[22:29]to look at what he said about so when you look at

[22:35]him you need to understand a man who is so close to

[22:37]would be able to shed light on some of the qualities of

[22:41]the Imam in order for you and I to apply it in

[22:45]our lives as we honor the three nights of his martyrdom and

[25:03]and often morality and is the barometer and the feature by which

[25:08]people are identified in which people are generally known that is why

[25:24]Islam as what as having Sublime morality you have excellent morality standards

[25:33]by which human beings should seek to emulate yes in the recognition

[25:39]that you and I need to develop ourselves in our lives and

[25:42]seek to correct some of the ethical traits principles that we may

[25:46]have not necessarily understood in our lives and become a better individual

[25:51]the prophet of Islam says the month of Ramadan is one of

[25:54]them yes he says the month of Ramadan if you and I

[26:00]correct our it will make the the bridge to much firmer this

[26:04]bridge towards jna it's slippery for some individuals it has 50 stations

[26:09]and we are told when an individual perfects and works hard to

[26:13]improve their in the month of Ramadan that bridge will become what

[26:20]that bridge will become much more stable for them on the day

[26:25]of judgment would say that I saw from Al a number of

[26:29]exceptional moral lessons that he narrates that are of great importance to

[26:35]you and I number one generosity he says one day I was

[26:42]with the commander of the faithful and we were traveling and Amir

[26:46]had a number of camels carrying a number of goods he was

[26:50]bringing them one of the camels was carrying food he says we

[26:55]passed through an area where there was a poor man he came

[26:59]forward this poor individual said to he says Ali please give me

[28:26]because of your generosity one after the other you're giving for the

[28:30]sake of Allah yes we are not surprised about the theud the

[28:37]these are important Arabic terms all denote to what to generosity of

[28:41]the please and blessings be upon them and no doubt generosity is

[28:45]a feature that it has to exist within the human being especially

[28:49]the believer you know why because sometimes you have people who are

[28:53]generous and you have people who act as generous what does that

[28:58]mean you have individuals who've taken generosity as the second nature second

[29:04]nature means what means that when it comes to giving for the

[29:07]sake of God when it comes to helping they don't think twice

[29:13]they don't hold themselves it is part and parel of their nature

[29:18]of their character yes they immediately give just like how for example

[29:23]sometimes you see someone like a family member in need and you

[29:26]quickly go to their help Don't Think Twice shall I help them

[29:31]or not a child of yours or your parents you immediately want

[29:35]to remedy their concerns and their situation no doubt this is a

[29:44]exceptional quality another one that says I saw has is his humility

[29:48]his this is one day an individual came to visit in the

[29:54]house when he was in the house he was with his son

[29:56]an elderly man with his son so said to me go and

[30:01]bring some food I came to bring some food to present this

[30:05]food to this man he said he ate when he finished it

[30:07]was customary at that time for the servant to bring a bowl

[30:14]of water and to pour it so that they wash their hands

[30:16]sees trying to pour water for this elderly man he takes the

[30:22]water from him and he pours it himself that man looks at

[30:29]and says please I don't want you to do this this is

[30:32]not something that you should be doing looks at him and says

[30:39]why I am not higher than you let me serve you one

[30:44]of their characteristics of a man or a woman who understands and

[30:50]humility is the desire to serve not to be served our fourth

[30:55]IM when he used to go to ha used to go from

[31:03]because he found and he would want to establish the quality of

[31:08]servitude towards others as a Hallmark of the people who are humble

[31:46]it he says humility that is how I understand the manifestations of

[32:21]this day and age unfortunately in some Western countries what do we

[32:28]find we find the values of our elders being lost yes we

[32:32]find sometimes we find sometimes what happens that people are missing the

[32:43]respect that the elders in the community deserve meaning that you have

[32:49]I have heard of stories in the United Kingdom where Sons and

[32:52]Daughters they are what they are charging their parents when they come

[32:56]to stay with them like a hotel or they plac them in

[33:02]Nursery homes even though they can look after them themselves or as

[33:06]we see in certain cartoons like The Simpsons we see what happens

[33:12]the son calling his father by his first name Homer why don't

[33:17]you bring this yes whereas the religion of Islam teaches us honor

[33:22]and respect to the elders elders that have given so much in

[33:28]order for us to have a dignified life may Allah subhana tala

[33:31]bless for example the Elders of this community who established this particular

[33:36]husse this place of worship so that you can come you can

[33:39]listen to the words of advice and remember God and worship God

[33:46]they the ones who laid the foundations yes they're the ones who

[33:51]facilitated what needs to be facilitated for you and I to be

[33:53]able to remember God and to honor the bit in the month

[33:59]of Ramadan and and other occasions yes and one way to honor

[34:01]them is to what is to keep engaging and to keep attending

[34:08]and to take part in programs yes otherwise if they have laid

[34:37]their own homes or they hire out places alhamdulillah that a community

[34:41]has a place to remember God to pray to God to remember

[34:48]theit and this place by the way if it's left deserted or

[34:51]only a few people attend will complain on the day of judgment

[34:57]the prophet of Islam would say three will complain on the day

[35:02]of judgment a place of worship that is empty the Quran that

[35:05]is not recited and a scholar that is not utilized an who

[35:13]is not necessarily being benefited from yes and indeed you recognize that

[35:19]that is a key feature in a successful Community Kar says I

[35:25]saw this humility number one number two what else did I Witness

[35:37]he would be an individual who would quickly want to forgive others

[35:42]in which way he says one day a man comes from sham

[35:47]sees him he says to him what are you doing here he

[37:13]to you and say I want to kill you the first thing

[37:20]say this person wants to kill me no doubt yes not only

[37:25]this would you ever forgive them for that intention to want to

[44:32]should punish him so the second Khalifa said do you have witnesses

[44:35]she said yes my brothers so her brothers came and testified that

[44:42]yes we don't know this man he is lying he is claiming

[44:44]to be the son of our mother and he is a liar

[44:49]so all of a sudden Omar said very well we will have

[44:53]to punish him cuz he is falsely alleging something he was being

[44:56]taken to be punished on the way he saw the man that

[45:01]he needs to see to save him he saw he said to

[45:04]him Ali I beg you help me he said what is it

[50:06]we speak about the adala of the commander of the faithful but

[50:11]we have to ask ourselves an important question in my day-to-day life

[50:16]what is the reflection of the justice of Ali to my transactions

[50:19]and the way I deal with other human beings meaning what please

[50:22]pay attention to this in some occasions when I deal with others

[50:30]I deceive I cheat I manipulate because of worldly desires sometimes it's

[50:36]my own family members and sometimes it's my friends give you examples

[50:51]took away my money and he's not giving it back or the

[50:55]father has passed away and there is dispute amongst the sons due

[50:59]to their inheritance and one is taking the other to court allahar

[51:06]because of a few dollars they were to oppress the other Sometimes

[51:13]some m in the community some brothers and sisters they go and

[51:17]take a loan from someone they give a piece of paper yes

[51:22]I've taken that thousands of loan dollars from you when it come

[51:25]to time to pay it back back you ask them what's going

[51:29]on they say oh you know I don't think this or that

[51:35]and they start to give excuses not saying genuinely that I may

[51:40]be struggling please give me more time they start to giving excuses

[51:43]I remember dealing with a case in one of the countries one

[51:48]brother took several thousand pounds from another Muslim Shia brother yes and

[51:53]he said to him it's a loone yes they took a piece

[51:54]of paper and they agreed later when he it was time to

[51:58]return it back he came to him and said okay can you

[52:00]please give me my money back he says no I didn't say

[52:02]it's a loan I said it's an investment so I put it

[52:06]in a business and it's all gone but you said it's a

[52:09]loan I remember I would not have given it to you if

[52:11]it was investment no no no and they had to go to

[52:17]court spend thousands of pounds until he this brother who had given

[52:20]his money had enough evidence to prove that it was a loan

[52:25]and not an investment but that in individual who he had to

[53:14]neighbors be just with your colleagues at work be just with your

[53:17]friends be just with any other human being that you interact with

[53:23]be just with the government that has given you sanctity and safety

[53:31]security be just with the government that has given you freedom of

[53:38]speech in which way our Scholars have said abiding by the laws

[53:42]of the land is obligatory number one deceiving the system is Haram

[53:46]number two meaning I am filling out an application form for insurance

[53:51]and I'm thinking if I mention something and if I play around

[53:58]with some words I'll get a little bit more money if I

[54:01]don't say the truth I'll get a little bit more money what

[54:05]happens The Scholar says the money that you get as a result

[56:12]when they demonstrate forbearance andan is not angry except when we are

[56:23]quiet when we can reciprocate when we can go back and do

[56:30]exactly what someone has done to us and you know people around

[56:37]recognize this you know the story of Malik when he saw in

[56:39]the marketplace someone abuse him yes but he didn't say anything to

[56:44]him and later someone said to that individual this is Malik the

[56:48]one of the close Companions of ALB he runs to find him

[56:52]in the mosque performing Salah and he says to him Malik I'm

[56:56]sorry he says don't worry I was performing Salah for your forgiveness

[56:59]not only will I not reciprocate but I will pray to Allah

[57:05]to forgive you that is the of the followers of that is

[57:08]the of those who have Associated themselves with this pure preny the

[57:13]progeny of Ali Muhammad who the epitome of justice of kindness and

[57:17]indeed of generosity but the third and all important quality that Kar

[57:27]says I saw that Ali taught me and inculcated in my life

[60:21]market I purchased three other melons I brought them and am opened

[60:25]the first one because I I said to him I can't open

[60:29]it maybe it's bad luck with me every time I open a

[60:30]melon it doesn't come out good so you open it Ali cut

[60:34]the first one and it was sweet so then he asks him

[60:41]Kar asks him what is this why three were sour bitter and

[60:50]had worms and this one had sweetness to it is told by

[61:25]day I was with we were in a place where wanted to

[61:32]took off his shirt and all of a sudden his shirt flew

[61:37]and Imam couldn't catch it but then later he saw a sign

[63:52]giving charity to others yet people ask the question where wasar on

[63:56]the the 10th of muharam did he fight with AB abdah on

[64:02]the day of Ash or not no doubt he was not there

[64:06]narrations don't tell us about the presence of this individual on the

[64:09]10th on the plains of carala therefore how can we explain his

[64:12]absence the only way we can explain his absence is by recognizing

[64:19]that history is silent about it hasn't been narrated to us but

[64:23]once we know his Excellence once we know he's been praised by

[64:30]and once we know how he left this world and how he

[64:32]was mared we can give him the benefit of the doubt either

[68:37]night like the night of the 19th he was in the house

[69:42]looking left and right he spent that night in in Salah in

[69:44]in the remembrance of Allah the he would not go to sleep

[69:54]for a long period of time he would wake up and again

[69:56]look at the heavens and he would say to Allah subhanahu waala

[70:09]Allah I want you to make the meeting with you something which

[70:16]is desirable something which is loving would say what is happening tonight

[70:21]tell me what is going on tonight would say to her I

[70:28]just fell asleep and I saw my beloved and he says to

[70:33]me Ali come towards me you are coming towards us very soon

[70:38]at the time of f just before F wakes up he goes

[70:45]towards the place to perform W his daughter helps him perform the

[70:49]W he performs The W then he comes to the door but

[70:55]there was some birds that began to Flap there were some birds

[71:02]that began to scream and he recognized that the birds were saying

[71:07]Ali don't leave please don't leave the house his cloth got attached

[71:11]to some part of the wall he says everything wants to stop

[71:18]me from leaving the house he leaves the house he walks towards

[71:21]Masjid Kua he comes inside the mid he wants to recite the

[71:31]aan he begins to recite the aan it was the final time

[71:34]that the people of kufa recited and heard thean of when he

[71:44]said allahar allahar people woke up for F this was the beautiful

[71:54]voice of they were now us to the voice of Ali reciting

[71:58]when he would say they would remember the time of they would

[72:06]recognize there was no man close to like Al he finished the

[72:15]aan he came down he saw outside Masid a number of people

[72:19]asleep he woke them up then he sawd gy he saw him

[72:27]sleeping on his chest he saw the sword that was drenched in

[72:31]Poison for 3 Days under his belly he saw him in this

[72:36]state he came to wake him up and said to him don't

[72:40]sleep in this state this is the way that the shaan sleeps

[72:42]then he said what are you about to do you are about

[72:48]to do something that will shake the heavens and the Earth then

[72:59]these are moments that will break the heart of [Applause] IM when

[73:15]came to perform his Salah ABD hid behind one of the pillars

[73:26]began the Salah he came and he recited when he went into

[73:34]s the first he recited he sat down ABD came and rushed

[73:46]when im went into s for the second time the picked up

[73:54]the sword and he struck on his head allahar IM cried out

[74:45]erupted people cried they gathered next to the body of Al his

[74:54]face was filled with with his blood it came all over his

[75:02]face allahar and the sword had split the head of Amir his

[75:05]me his family members IM Hassan and Hussein they gathered around him

[75:10]they tried to pick up his body they tried to carry him

[75:15]when they were close to his house said to them oh my

[75:24]sons Hassan and Hussein I ask you to leave me by myself

[75:27]they said why he said I don't want Zab to see me

[75:33]in this state I don't want Z I don't want Zab to

[75:38]see me in this state allow me to walk towards the house

[75:45]I say to him you don't want Z to see you in

[75:55]this state husin oh IM you don't want Z to see you

[76:01]in this theate but what did Zab [Music] see on the plains

[76:09]of carala your daughter Z what did she see she saw abdah

[76:54]alone on Plains ofl is there anyone amongst you is Muslim you

[77:07]didn't want to see Z see you in this state but she
