[0:06][Music] Muhammad for is it possible is it conceivably possible for us

[1:28]to reach perfection we've been talking about the nature of perfection what

[1:34]we mean by Perfection the defining characteristics of perfection and we've explained

[1:43]how Perfection is a relative concept it's not absolute the Perfection of

[1:51]anything or anyone depends on the purpose for which that thing or

[1:56]that person was created for having known this and having also known

[2:04]that to reach absolute perfection we need to follow the path of

[2:09]the absolute we need to follow the role of Allah subhah wa

[2:18]taala who is the absolute perfect creator of all there is we

[2:22]need to follow in the path of the people assigned by the

[2:26]almighty Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala as our guides and as the signs

[2:32]that lead to the way of Allah subhah wa ta'ala as we've

[2:36]explained now knowing both of these things first that we need to

[2:44]realize that Perfection is relative and not absolute and two that for

[2:48]us to reach Perfection we need to follow the path of the

[2:50]men and women of God the answer to the question of whether

[2:57]or not Perfection is a concept that we can or cannot reach

[3:00]is in the affirmative we can reach Perfection but it also means

[3:11]something else having established those two premises it also means that Perfection

[3:17]isn't a single state of being remember it's relative it's not absolute

[3:24]therefore no one can ever claim to have reached absolute perfection therefore

[3:31]Perfection is something that has many levels in it when we talk

[3:38]about the prophet of Islam when we talk about the immaculate household

[3:41]and the members of the household of Purity and infallibility the even

[3:46]they have not reached the ultimate state of perfection we have explicit

[3:55]Traditions telling us that every Thursday night Allah subhana tala increases the

[3:58]knowledge of the prophet he increases the wisdom of the imams that's

[4:06]why we recite our PR our Praises upon them Allah subh waa

[4:09]says in the Quran is a word that is derived from the

[4:29]root ter term is to reach is to reach out Allah subhah

[4:37]wa taal in other words continually sustains the prophet he continually prays

[4:44]upon the prophet the prayer of Allah subhana wa ta'ala is to

[4:48]sustain him is to sustain the with his continued knowledge wisdom and

[4:56]and greater and higher levels in paradise and higher levels in spirituality

[5:00]now if they had reached the absolute state of perfection there would

[5:04]be no higher level would there but their levels are always and

[5:08]constantly being raised and this is an indication that there is no

[5:15]final frontier when it comes to Perfection there is no limit as

[5:23]to how high a person can Elevate him or herself when it

[5:27]comes to knowledge when it comes to Devotion to Allah when it

[5:32]comes to submission when it comes to the acceptance of God's Will

[5:36]and so on and so forth so yes we can reach Perfection

[5:39]but Perfection is relative and we should always strive for more we

[5:45]should always ask Allah subhana waala to raise our levels even more

[5:51]now here's a question that I'm sure has crossed the mind of

[5:58]many of our youths it's New Year's Eve right and some people

[6:03]might be wondering why is it that while everybody else around the

[6:09]world whether Christian or Buddhist or Jewish are celebrating New Year's eveeve

[6:14]yes Christmas isn't celebrated by Jews but New Year's Eve is so

[6:17]while everyone is celebrating New Year's Eve and the beginning of a

[6:24]new Gregorian year why is it that we sit here and mourn

[6:27]we sit here to listen to things that inevitably make us depressed

[6:32]we sit here and cry we sit here and sob and lament

[6:38]and beat our chests and beat our heads and all these things

[6:45]are elements that do nothing but depress you right so why why

[6:50]are we so different I've actually written a book with this title

[6:56]why are we different because the fact of the matter is you

[6:59]look at Muslims and you've got the absolutely weird Muslims you've got

[7:04]those hardcore crazy people who use the name of this religion in

[7:10]order to insult this the core the very core of this Faith

[7:12]they use the name of this religion as a vehical in order

[7:18]to reach their political Ambitions they use the symbols of this great

[7:23]faith in order to gain Acceptance in society and this is nothing

[7:27]new I mean religion has always been abused that doesn't mean that

[7:32]there is an inherent deficiency in religion per se which is what

[7:36]Richard Dawkins and the other atheists try to tell you to tell

[7:38]you that religion is inherently evil because people have constantly used religion

[7:44]to commit evil act well this doesn't mean that religion is evil

[7:50]it means that yes religion is very easy to abuse why because

[7:53]it has to do with people's emotions because religion is about a

[7:59]very deep connection between The Devout follower of that religion and the

[8:08]ecclesiastic leadership the people who sit at the top of the Pyramid

[8:11]of the religious establishment therefore it's easy for those people who sit

[8:16]at the top of the Pyramid of the religious establishment to abuse

[8:21]the religion it doesn't mean religion is evil it's just like saying

[8:25]power is evil or authority is evil because Authority has always been

[8:29]used to commit evil acts well that's not true is it once

[8:35]again back to the main question why everybody's being jubilant everybody's happy

[8:42]everybody's celebrating and you know what as Believers in Allah subhana wa

[8:47]taala we have nothing against being happy and jubilant in Principle as

[8:52]a matter of fact there is a had where the IM says

[9:06]he is not from us he's not among us he's not one

[9:18]of us who abandons the Hereafter for the sake of this transient

[9:21]world if you turn your back on the teachings of Allah subhana

[9:26]wa tala if I were to abandon the great pleasures reserved by

[9:30]the almighty Lord in Paradise for these Petty self-indulgent impulses in this

[9:37]world I obviously would not be among the ranks of the Imam

[9:41]but then the Imam adds another portion to the Hadith which is

[9:44]absolutely amazing the IM says and he is not one of [Music]

[9:51]us he who abandons this transient world for the sake of the

[9:56]Hereafter in other words nobody's telling you to be a goth to

[10:02]wear black lipstick and live in a cave nobody's asking you to

[10:07]inflict constant pain and misery on yourself nobody's telling you not to

[10:11]indulge in the in the in the legitimate pleasures of this world

[10:14]nobody's telling you not to eat not to drink not to get

[10:17]married not to have fun nobody's saying that but what Allah subhana

[10:23]wa ta'ala wants is for all these desires and temptations to be

[10:26]channeled into the right direction and so that we don't lose side

[10:30]of the fact that we have a bigger purpose for which we

[10:35]were created a very basic example is for a group of guys

[10:42]who want to sit in the car and drive around now if

[10:45]they had no purpose in their little drive around the block what

[10:51]would happen is that they would simply drive around the block right

[10:55]they have any specific destination to which they want to reach all

[11:01]they're trying to do is get inside a car rev it up

[11:02]make as much noise as possible maybe a little skidding here and

[11:07]there try to attract the attention of girls and all they do

[11:10]is drive around the block now if someone didn't have that intention

[11:15]someone had a vision someone used the car as a vehicle as

[11:21]a means of transportation not as a means of skitting and making

[11:25]noise but as a vehicle to reach point B starting with point

[11:30]a now both of these people have have had their ride in

[11:34]the car but there is a huge difference in terms of how

[11:39]each one of these scenarios plays out isn't there one scenario might

[11:42]play out in the in the in the way that the people

[11:45]driving around trying to Skid trying to attract attention trying to make

[11:48]noise are very likely to be involved in an accident in the

[11:51]end whereas the other person takes all safety precautions has a vision

[11:57]has a clear path has set the way he needs to pursue

[11:59]in order to reach his destination they both Drive in the car

[12:05]they probably both enjoy driving the car enjoy accelerating by pressing on

[12:11]the accelerator pedal but one gets involved in an accident the other

[12:14]reaches the destination safely nobody's telling you to abandon the pleasures of

[12:19]this world Allah says in the Quran on one occasion I believe

[12:28]it was the commander of the faithful who was told about three

[12:32]people one of them had decided not to sleep except when it

[12:39]was absolutely necessary and to spend their entire lives his entire life

[12:43]to pray and to adore and to worship the almighty Lord the

[12:47]other and they created a pacta between the three of them the

[12:51]other said I will never get married I will never get close

[12:55]to a woman the third said that I will abandon the city

[12:59]and and urban life and I will go inside a cave and

[13:04]I will stay there until I die the Imam called the three

[13:09]of them when they came the IM said to them he addressed

[13:13]one of them he said in the Arabic language means enemy the

[13:17]Imam isn't saying oh you who is the enemy of himself is

[13:24]the Lesser version of the wordu in other words you're a little

[13:28]petty enemy of yourself in other words you're an enemy of yourself

[13:31]and yet you don't get it nobody is saying we should abandon

[13:35]the pleasures of this world so once again why is it that

[13:41]they're having fun and we're all sitting here waiting for the end

[13:44]of the speech where we will cry and get depressed to understand

[13:50]the reason and once again I'm not saying everybody thinks that way

[13:53]but there might be people who might have had that thought cross

[13:55]their mind to understand why we do this we need to understand

[14:02]the purpose of Our Lives what is the purpose of Our Lives

[14:04]we talked about how the purpose is to reach Perfection and how

[14:11]there are specific Pathways we need to to to take until we

[14:14]reach Perfection and that Perfection ultimate Perfection absolute perfection exists only with

[14:21]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and to do that there are steps that

[14:24]we need to undertake the first is to know Allah subhana tala

[14:28]and inshallah in the subsequent nights we'll be talking more specifically about

[14:32]these steps and elaborate on them but to know Allah subhana wa

[14:35]tala to worship the almighty Lord that's the purpose of Our Lives

[14:38]as prescribed in the Holy Quran I have not created the Jin

[14:48]or the ins humanity and every living thing that exists and has

[14:51]the faculty of the intellect which includes the Gin except so that

[14:56]they would worship me of course Allah subh T is engag ping

[14:59]anything about me offering My Worship my acts of worship to Allah

[15:04]subhana wa tala but that's a different topic we'll talk about it

[15:06]later on to worship God which is why IM Hussein is special

[15:16]and Imam Hussein deserves our tears IM Hussein deserves our tributes IM

[15:21]Hussein deserves our time our energy our resources our Attention our money

[15:27]our wealth Our Lives because he was the one who openly and

[15:35]transparently and unequivocally explain to us what the purpose of Our Lives

[15:39]is had it not been for IM Hussein let me tell you

[15:43]something I'll make a bold statement here and I mean no disrespect

[15:45]had it not been for IM Hussein and what he did on

[15:49]the day of Ash you and I and everyone else in existence

[15:55]would be another replica an exact carbon copy of yazid MUA why

[16:00]it's very simple because as human beings unrestricted by the by by

[16:10]obedience to Allah subhah wa ta'ala we are nothing but beasts who

[16:14]roam around in an in an effort in an attempt to satisfy

[16:20]our desires that's why the Beast needs to be tamed and we

[16:23]have so many Traditions that specifically refer to the human soul as

[16:27]a beast that needs to be tamed like a wild horse one

[16:32]Hadith says it's like a wild horse how do you control a

[16:33]wild horse you hold him tight that's what you do you don't

[16:40]let it roam freely in the field you hold him tight IM

[16:44]Hussein make sure that we don't end up end up like Aid

[16:50]because as human beings our ultimate Pursuit is the satisfaction of our

[16:55]desires that let's imagine and this is a probably an inappropriate example

[16:59]but it really does illustrate what I'm talking about here imagine if

[17:04]all of us sitting here tonight suddenly found ourselves without any restraints

[17:11]whatsoever no moral restraints no social restraints because social restraints and social

[17:18]incentives are very very powerful that's why you see in certain countries

[17:22]I don't know about here in the UK but in certain countries

[17:25]uh people who commit crimes of moral repit um for example pedophiles

[17:33]pedophiles are advertised on a website in the United States if you

[17:39]want to know if there is a particular pedophile in the particular

[17:42]neighborhood that you're trying to reside in all you got to do

[17:46]is log on to this website and find out how many pedophiles

[17:47]live there they have to register with the local government with the

[17:51]local authorities with a parole officer throughout their lives one person commits

[17:59]pedophilia God forbid and he or she needs to be identified so

[18:03]that people are aware of this individual so they take all precautions

[18:08]in some countries for example in the UAE if someone crosses a

[18:12]red light there's a whole um newspaper page dedicated to people's number

[18:19]plates being printed on that page so people are deterred from committing

[18:26]this crime again how are they deterred well if you see your

[18:31]number plate in the newspaper and your friends see it and they

[18:33]come back and tell you or if they see your picture right

[18:38]it's humiliating right I mean it's it's it's absolutely humiliating especially if

[18:42]you're a respectable member of the community so the moral incentive and

[18:47]the moral deterrent and the moral restraint is very very powerful but

[18:52]let's just imagine for the sake of the argument suddenly here tonight

[18:56]we find ourselves we are not restrained by morality we not restrained

[18:59]by religion we're not restrained by Humanity we're not restrained by anything

[19:06]we wouldn't survive five minutes if there were no restraints Allah subhana

[19:14]wa ta'ala wants to tame the Beast why would we all be

[19:17]exact replicas of of yazid muaah because we're all out there human

[19:25]beings in general I'm talking people who are not restrained people whose

[19:29]Beast beasts are not tamed they're out there trying to satisfy desires

[19:33]and nothing else feed into Temptations fuel the fire and yazid is

[19:41]the ultimate example of how one can feed the desires that are

[19:47]built into him why because with authority you could do anything you

[19:51]want if I had the power if I had Authority if I

[19:56]had Prestige if I had the political back King that yazid did

[20:03]I would do anything if left unrestrained we'd all be carbon copies

[20:07]of yazid mua with Imam Hussein the situation take a very very

[20:18]different course Imam Hussein said for example in one of the very

[20:23]famous statements that he made on the day alw who was the

[20:25]governor of the city of Medina summoned the IM to come it

[20:32]was night the IM knew what it was about he took along

[20:34]with him a group of the benu Hashim and he instructed them

[20:38]he said If You Hear My Cry If you hear me calling

[20:40]out for you then you should know that I'm being attacked that

[20:44]I'm being apprehended you should come and save me they were all

[20:47]waiting their hands on their swords on the handle of the swords

[20:50]they waited outside the Imam went inside Al was there he told

[20:56]IM Hussein he told him I'm sure you've heard news about mua's

[20:59]death and now his son yazid muaah has assumed the Throne of

[21:08]the government the Throne of his father it suddenly became a monarchy

[21:12]it started out with people imposing their Authority with people claiming to

[21:19]become Theif the self-proclaimed that's how it started because you know the

[21:27]difference between and to nominate or elect someone I'm sure you've heard

[21:31]this argument when you talk about Thea system they tell you theaa

[21:33]system was perfect because it was the um it was another version

[21:39]of the of of free Democratic elections right and that way they

[21:42]sugarcoat it and they make it sound really beautiful and and civilized

[21:46]and Democratic that's what it was that that's not what it was

[21:51]they all do have the tendency to sort of make us Drift

[21:53]Away make us forget the real purpose for which we were created

[21:59]by Allah subhana now I want to draw your attention to these

[22:02]verses in the Quran once again to explain why it is that

[22:08]we're here and everyone else around the world is having the fun

[22:11]of their lives Allah subhana T says inah verse number 187 he

[22:21]says he says Allah subhana wa taala made a covenant with the

[22:41]people of the book he made a covenant a covenant is a

[22:44]promise that's that's made on on on two sides I make a

[22:48]promise to you you make a promise to me and we both

[22:52]uphold our promises we don't break them Allah took a covenant he

[22:55]told them I am giving you I'm revealing this message to you

[23:02]in exchange do not lose sight of the message reveal the message

[23:08]as it was revealed to you to the people do not break

[23:12]this Covenant do not lose sight of the message but they failed

[23:18]to do so what is the message of Christmas I mean I'm

[23:20]not saying that everyone every Christian that's out there has lost sight

[23:24]of the message of Christmas yes there are lots of churches out

[23:29]there that give charity to the poor in the name of Jesus

[23:32]Christ there are lots of people who help the needy who do

[23:37]you know benevolent tasks and engage in all sorts of activities which

[23:40]are accepted and and and you know in the eyes of Allah

[23:42]subhana wa tala no Act is ever going in vain they will

[23:46]be rewarded for what they do but the majority of the world

[23:49]population have lost sight of the message of Christmas Jesus Christ was

[23:55]the man who survived on vegetables and he was so weak and

[24:05]so thin and so poor altruism was embodied in Jesus Christ Jesus

[24:10]of Nazareth Jesus the son of the Virgin Mary Jesus who's mentioned

[24:15]in the Quran whose mother has a chapter dedicated to her whose

[24:20]mother is the only woman mentioned by name in the Quran did

[24:23]you know that the only woman mentioned by name there are lots

[24:26]of other women mentioned by reference like the wife of of the

[24:33]mother of Musa the the daughter of the Prophet they were all

[24:36]mentioned by reference but the only one mentioned my name is the

[24:38]Virgin Mary what happened to the to the teachings of Jesus what

[24:44]happened to them he's just another excuse nowadays for us to have

[24:48]fun for people to engage in every illicit immoral act of sin

[24:51]under the son in the name of Jesus that's an even bigger

[24:58]crime than if they had simply abandoned the the teachings of Jesus

[25:02]Christ listen to Allah says he says do not think of those

[25:12]who are jubilant those who are happy those who are having fun

[25:18]with what they have don't you ever think that that is salv

[25:28]ation from the fires of Hell from the torment from the punishment

[25:34]of Allah subhana wa ta'ala sure they're happy but that happiness isn't

[25:38]going to save them from the torment of the fires of hell

[25:46]then Allah suddenly reminds us of our purpose he says the Dominion

[25:53]The Authority belongs to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala the Dominion of the

[25:57]heavens and the Earth all belong to Allah Allah is able to

[26:04]do what he wishes all reminders signals signs he says in the

[26:09]creation of the heavens and of the earth there are clear signs

[26:13]and the difference between the day and the night there are signs

[26:19]for those people endowed with the faculty of the intellect people who

[26:23]understand and have the mind when you see these signs what do

[26:27]you do you remember Allah subhah wa ta'ala those people who look

[26:36]at these signs and they remember God's name while they stand while

[26:43]they sit when they lie down they think about the creation of

[26:54]the heavens and the Earth they remember their lord then they call

[26:59]out when they see the Grandeur of the universe when they realize

[27:01]the purpose for which they were created when they look at the

[27:04]vastness of the cosmos brothers and sisters seriously we haven't seen heaven

[27:10]we haven't seen hell right but suffice for us to see the

[27:16]vastness of the cosmos for us to be reminded of the greatness

[27:18]of Allah tala just look at the universe and you know that

[27:23]there must have been some kind of purpose you look at these

[27:30]G iies you know 300 billion galaxies each one composed of 300

[27:37]billion stars allahar our planet is a tiny little speck in the

[27:43]vastness of the cosmos when you see this you can't help but

[27:48]realize there's a Creator there's definitely a Creator and two the Creator

[27:52]was so wise he was so great he was so powerful therefore

[27:56]he's also very wise you couldn't have created all of this without

[28:01]a purpose oh God you have not created all of this in

[28:06]vain there's a purpose behind all of this oh God therefore now

[28:14]that we have realized your creator now that we've realized there's a

[28:19]purpose for all of this protect us from the torment of the

[28:22]fires then Allah beautiful sequence of verses oh oh Lord he that

[28:35]you place in the fires of hell you have truly humiliated you've

[28:42]truly humiliated he who enters the fires of hell and there's no

[28:49]one to support those who are who are oppressive the oppressors have

[28:54]no support they get no help they end up in the fires

[28:58]of hell this is why we're all here tonight oh Lord we

[29:24]have heard a a person calling out towards Faith a person inviting

[29:31]in towards Faith believe in your Lord Oh Lord we have believed

[29:34]in you who was the one who called for Faith it was

[29:44]Imam Hussein now from all of this we realize one thing after

[29:49]all of these verses Allah subhah wa ta'ala sums it all up

[29:55]he says when you believe in him Allah will protect you from

[29:57]the fires of hell when you look at at his signs you

[30:00]will believe in him when you believe in him he will protect

[30:02]you from the torment of the fires of hell and from humiliation

[30:04]on the day of judgment then he says for I do not

[30:17]waste the actions of a person be it male or female it

[30:22]all comes down to this Allah subhana tala does not let our

[30:28]actions go in vain everything we do is in is in the

[30:30]sight of Allah subhana wa T everything we do is recorded by

[30:34]Allah subh wa tala all our Good Deeds are protected they're well

[30:36]preserved when you realize this as you saw what happened was there's

[30:43]a there was a a ladder that you were Rising that you

[30:45]were uh ascending you were going up on this ladder the first

[30:50]step is to look at the signs is not to be jubilant

[30:55]not to be too happy look at the signs be serious take

[30:58]yourself seriously your worth is much greater than to be wasted on

[31:03]these Petty indulgent self-indulgent impulses on these desires and temptations you're too

[31:10]important for that then you look at the signs in the cosmos

[31:12]you realize there's a Creator when you realize there's a Creator you

[31:15]know he's wise when you know he's wise you fear his wrath

[31:19]when you fear his wrath Allah subhana wa ta'ala protects you from

[31:23]the fires of Hell the last position and the last stage that

[31:27]you get to is the this Allah says for I will not

[31:30]let your actions go in vain when you reach that level of

[31:35]perfection we said there are many levels of perfection this is one

[31:40]of the highest when you reach that level what happens is this

[31:44]Imad was sitting in his house and he's clearly very anxious he

[31:54]goes back into his family room he probably had only two rooms

[32:00]one to greet his guests and the other to have his family

[32:04]live there he goes in inside that room and he comes out

[32:06]he goes in and comes out he's very anxious you could tell

[32:09]the Imam is very nervous he's very anxious something's going on then

[32:14]suddenly the Imam calms down he comes out and he sits with

[32:16]his guests and he greets them so one of the companions says

[32:19]to the Imam what happened you were very anxious only a moment

[32:24]ago now you're all calm you were going back and forth between

[32:29]the the other room and this room and now you're calm you've

[32:31]calmed down he said yes I had a son who was very

[32:37]very sick so the companion said to the Imam so he's well

[32:39]now alhamdulillah you're all calm and you're feeling good he said no

[32:43]he just died he said so why are you so he said

[32:52]ald Thank our Lord who kills our sons he takes them away

[32:59]and nothing nothing increases in us but love towards him yes before

[33:04]my son died I was anxious because I was praying to Allah

[33:10]subhana wa taala to heal him to help him recover but when

[33:13]God's will descends upon me I do not speak anything that is

[33:20]in contrary to God's will I submit to what he wants for

[33:23]me I submit to his will and I increase in terms of

[33:28]my love and admiration to Allah when you realize that your acts

[33:33]that your Deeds are not going in vain that they're not being

[33:36]wasted that they're being recorded by Allah subhana wa tala that you

[33:39]will be rewarded for them you're not afraid of anything you're not

[33:43]worried about anything Allah the almighty he gives some the kind of

[33:51]resolve this creates in your heart is absolutely amazing I'll give you

[33:55]a a few short examples one of them is Kad K was

[34:01]alive when im Hussein started heading towards carala the question is what

[34:06]happened why didn't he join IM Hussein do you know why because

[34:12]Kum was being sought by the authorities he was being tracked down

[34:15]for a period of 20 years since the time of the commander

[34:21]of the faithful he was hiding so that the authorities wouldn't catch

[34:25]and kill him until when zad came to the city of kufa

[34:28]zad realized that the Imam might start to summon some of the

[34:34]greatest Companions of his father and his brother and himself and these

[34:38]companions could pose a threat so what he did was he started

[34:40]putting a great deal of pressure on the family members of Kain

[34:46]he started imprisoning the family members the relatives his brothers and whatnot

[34:54]in order to smoke him out so to speak because he knew

[34:57]that Kum wouldn't let this happened to his family members and as

[35:01]soon as that started K came and he surfaced again he went

[35:06]to the Palace ofah to tell him if you're a man come

[35:09]and get me why have you gone after my family members as

[35:13]soon as he enters Z says to him well it's good to

[35:19]see you you do know I'm about to kill you right he

[35:23]said now listen who was the most hated person in the eyes

[35:29]of who was it the commander of the faithful he hated him

[35:36]may Allah bestow his Everlasting blessings upon this man he knows that

[35:41]hates IM Ali how does he confront him he says yes I

[35:45]do know you want to kill me he I I do know

[35:59]that because my master alali told me that you'll kill me that

[36:02]I'll be killed at the hands of the most vile person in

[36:05]existence in other words he's not helping his cause at all then

[36:11]he says to him well how would you like me to kill

[36:12]you how does he confront him just just knowing that your actions

[36:18]are not going to Vain knowing that everything you do is preserved

[36:22]for you and the Hereafter gives you this kind of willpower that's

[36:25]made of steel and even stronger than steel he says to him

[36:29]how would you like me to kill you he says well no

[36:32]let me ask you how would you like me to avenge my

[36:33]own blood on the day of judgment you kill me any way

[36:37]you like and I'll kill you in the exact same way make

[36:40]it as brutal as you want be as vicious as you like

[36:42]because I'll do the same thing to you on the day of

[36:46]judgment now whose name do you remember every Thursday night the commander

[36:53]the faithful had so many companions so many and the thousands whose

[36:58]name do you mention who whose name is the is the Dua

[37:01]of Allah subh T Dua is a revelation according to our Traditions

[37:07]it was revealed by Allah subhah wa ta'ala and yet this Dua

[37:11]is known by whose name k that's one example the other example

[37:16]you've heard the story of the wise man the prophet of God

[37:23]who was in the company of prophet Musa and they go and

[37:26]he teaches them a few lessons I don't want to get into

[37:29]the details of the story but one detail is particularly interesting and

[37:32]that is when tells M when they're driven out of that Village

[37:36]they went to the Village they asked for food and nourishment and

[37:40]and a place to rest the villagers refused to offer that to

[37:42]them and they kicked them out in a very disrespectful fashion they

[37:48]leave the village then says to mus you see that wall over

[37:51]there which belongs to the Village it's a part of the village

[37:54]let's go rebuild it because it's about to fall M says why

[37:59]would you do something like that these people disrespected us we're prophets

[38:02]of God they didn't offer us any food or water why would

[38:07]we do something like that he tells him I told you you

[38:09]wouldn't observe patience now what happens is he goes and he rebuilds

[38:15]the wall which was about to collapse and then he tells Musa

[38:18]what I am about I I I rebuilt this wall because beneath

[38:24]it there is a treasure if the wall had collapsed the treasure

[38:27]would have surfaced it would have it would have been revealed now

[38:32]the treasure needs to be preserved because it belongs to two children

[38:38]listen to this their father was a good man therefore Allah T

[38:46]wants to pay back their father through his children receiving this treasure

[38:52]the tradition of Imad tells us that it wasn't their immediate father

[38:55]who was a good man you know who it was it was

[39:00]was their 70th grandfather in other words go back 70 Generations which

[39:06]is roughly 2,000 years that person was a good man Allah subhah

[39:10]wa ta'ala does not waste the act of a person whether be

[39:16]be it a man or a woman male or female you do

[39:17]something good today 2,000 years down the track Allah subhana tal will

[39:23]pay you back for it in this world as well as the

[39:24]Hereafter but in this world Allah will pay you back if you

[39:30]see yourselves here tonight morning IM Hussein you should know that one

[39:34]of your ancestors must have done something right one of your ancestors

[39:38]you should be grateful to your parents you should be grateful to

[39:43]your grandparents you should be grateful to your ancestors for they did

[39:47]something right which makes Allah subhana wa ta'ala pay them back by

[39:51]giving you the lantern of guidance by helping you board the sh

[39:55]the ship of salvation of IM Hussein there are so many other

[40:01]examples we don't have time unfortunately for all of them but just

[40:05]look at IM Hussein himself Imam Hussein says in that speech that

[40:10]he delivers in the city of Mecca as he's about to leave

[40:13]the city he says one of the reasons we're always told to

[40:21]remember death is that we are not always jubilant in having fun

[40:26]when you have death transfixed before your eyes eyes you always have

[40:31]that purpose for which you were created in a crystal clear fashion

[40:34]you never lose sight of it that's why people try to ignore

[40:40]death that's why people try to lose sight of death because they

[40:42]don't want that they want to have fun and most people are

[40:45]like that most people are like sheep most people are like what

[40:51]the IM says to K himself he says there are three kinds

[40:57]of people the worst is this they're like flies buzzing over a

[41:03]dead corpse all they're they're concerned about is their food and their

[41:08]nourishment and their fun and their friends and their families even at

[41:17]the expense of God's laws and God's red lines all they're concerned

[41:21]about is making a living all they're concerned about is working for

[41:24]5 days a week so they could get wasted and drink the

[41:27]weekend so they could raise enough money that they could then spend

[41:34]on the weekend and have fun have fun while losing your mind

[41:38]how could they get themselves to to that low a level a

[41:44]level lower than animals I just don't understand that's why the imams

[41:47]tell us remember death the IM says we should be reminded of

[41:55]all these words by the IM because they're they're Secret that teach

[41:58]us what the purpose is and what the IM was trying to

[42:05]achieve and then the IM says as we said last night there's

[42:18]no Escape From This Day the day of our death and then

[42:22]the IM says we observe patience we are patient when God's calamities

[42:32]befall us because in exchange Allah will reward us the reward of

[42:39]those who are patient the will of God is the will of

[42:45]the in other words we accept anything that Allah T Wills for

[42:51]us Subhan Allah which is why on the day of judgment IM

[42:53]Hussein says what im Hussein says oh Allah this is my infant

[43:06]child the six-month-old infant who's just been slaughtered while in the hands

[43:11]of his father he raises it up oh God if this pleases

[43:13]you then take as much as you want until you are pleased

[43:18]he knows and then he says what makes this easy for me

[43:24]to take is the fact that I know that you could see

[43:29]this oh God that you are a witness of this oh Allah

[43:32]on a day like this IM Hussein enters the land of carala

[43:39]his hor stops the narrations tell us that he changes horse after

[43:46]horse until he changes six different horses the horses just wouldn't move

[43:50]and then he says to his companions what is the name of

[43:52]this land they say does it have another name name does it

[44:01]have a third name does it have any other names IM Hussein

[44:10]says oh Allah we seek refuge in you from trials and tribulations

[44:17]this is the land of trials and tribulations oh my oh members

[44:29]of my household oh my companions this is the land where we

[44:33]will set our camps why why should we do that this is

[44:45]the land where our men will perish this is where our blood

[44:56]will be shed this is the land where our children will be

[45:10]slaughtered IM Hussein is telling everyone that he's not only going to

[45:18]die but that the women and the children will be enslaved they

[45:21]will be taken as captives then the Traditions tell us that Imam

[45:26]Hussein asked all the members of benu Hashim all the women all

[45:32]the children to get inside one one tent so that he could

[45:35]address them all allahar what happened on that day they all enter

[45:38]that tent Imam Hussein enters as soon as he stops he looked

[45:48]at them all then he began to stop for an hour IM

[45:54]Hussein began to cry and cry now obviously when the women and

[45:57]the children see their Master see their man crying they all cry

[46:01]along with him they cried and they cried one of the says

[46:07]that I thought about this a great deal and I thought why

[46:10]would Imam Hussein Cry he's looking at his children he comes up

[46:16]with nine different explanations but the one that really breaks my heart

[46:20]is this when Imam Hussein looked at them he remembered how Al

[46:24]is going to die right before his eyes he remembered how Zab

[46:30]is going to lament while watching her brother being slaughtered from the

[46:34]top of the cliff he remembered how Abbas will have his hands

[46:38]severed on that day he remembered their tragedies but above all Imam

[46:46]Hussein remembered the day when they will all get together once again

[46:50]but where and in what condition they will get together on the

[46:55]pit where Imam Hussein's body was lying one of the one of

[47:07]the says that I went to sleep came to me she said

[47:14]to me write down what happened on that day I said to

[48:13]Imam Hussein received that his brother that his friend that that his

[48:23]close compatriot Muslim had been killed in the city of kufa the

[48:27]messenger came IM Hussein said to him what news do you have

[48:30]of my brother Muslim he saidah I didn't come to you until

[48:37]I saw the corpse of Muslim being dragged around the Alleyways of

[48:41]the city of K IM Hussein didn't know how to break the

[48:44]news to the women and the children especially the family of a

[48:49]himself who had four children in he goes to the women's Camp

[48:55]he says where is the daughter of Muslim her name is H

[49:02]they bring this little girl IM Hussein takes her he sits down

[49:08]he places the little girl on his lap and then the Imam

[49:10]begins to wipe her head he wipes her head he wipes her

[49:15]head and he starts to cry suddenly Hamida looks up and says

[49:17]oh Uncle why are you treating me the way you treat orphans

[49:23]has something happened to my father IM Hussein says oh honey I

[49:26]am am your [Applause] father and my daughters are your sisters I

[49:37]asked himd oh IM Hussein you were there on that day to

[49:43]offer Comfort to the daughter of Muslim where were youah on the

[49:50]day of when they started whipping every time they cried every time

[49:56]they saw where were [Applause] youin husin Hussein husin hinin Hussein
