[0:05]foreign [Music] foreign all right [Music] [Music] foreign for the enlightenment of
[1:49]the graves of the greatest for the safety of the followers around
[1:55]the world and for the safety and the Hasting of the reappearance
[2:11]who praises you to Allah it's an honor to be back here
[2:20]amongst you brothers and sisters alhamdulillah uh there are some changes that
[2:31]I'm seeing namely Annex a member that's at least five times larger
[2:34]than your last one and the light that is probably equal to
[2:37]the brightness of the sun uh as well alhamdulillah it's good to
[2:45]be able to finally fit on your member uh but that's not
[2:50]what I'm here to talk about what I wanted to discuss today
[2:56]was this elusive term that has we're always hearing it and we
[3:03]always sort of mention it ourselves but really do we truly understand
[3:11]what that term actually means and that is the term of Baraka
[3:19]what is Baraka we always say you know someone does this he'll
[3:26]bring Baraka or that this individual has Baraka within their life or
[3:31]this individual has Baraka within their speech or Baraka within their knowledge
[3:36]but in reality what is that Baraka and the short answer to
[3:43]it is we translate it as blessings but it's slightly more than
[3:47]that it's an added value blessing it's a particular blessing that brings
[3:54]added value to something that is already existing so a life of
[3:59]Baraka is a life that has an added value of blessing added
[4:04]to it there are many people that live in this world many
[4:07]people that live 70 80 years but the moment that they die
[4:12]that's it there's no Legacy there's no remembrance of that person they
[4:19]didn't actually do anything for this world but then there are those
[4:22]that we see if we even take the example of Islamic history
[4:27]someone like Sheikh sudok that lives some 60 years but yet in
[4:32]that time that he lives he writes over 300 books one of
[4:39]those books that is still used up until this day by every
[4:41]single one of the so that's a life lived with Baraka many
[4:47]people write books but they're often forgotten either they don't even make
[4:53]it to a library let alone to the house of every single
[4:56]person but yet you look at something like an individual that writes
[5:07]a book and even almost a century plus since his passing that
[5:12]book is found in every single home even when himself was in
[5:20]his last legs with his final illness and he knew that he
[5:23]wouldn't survive this and someone said to him that you know I'm
[5:25]going to uh and he began crying out of the sadness that
[5:34]he wouldn't have the opportunity to go on the zealots of Imam
[5:38]again and there was someone nearby and they said to him that
[5:43]you don't need to cry because every single Zaire that enters the
[5:49]Haram of Imam Abbas with him in the form of so that's
[5:56]a life of barakah a book of Baraka something that has added
[6:02]benefit to it and there are multiple ways that we can bring
[6:06]this added benefit because some people you often say you know this
[6:09]individual is Mubarak yeah and there are individuals throughout history that Allah
[6:19]has made me a source of blessing for the people or he
[6:28]refers to Mubarak that's this this Mecca this land of Mecca is
[6:33]a land of blessings certain names you can think of all of
[6:37]the examples I don't want to go too much into trying to
[6:42]understand Baraka what I really want to focus on in this lecture
[6:45]is how do we attract that Divine Baraka because throughout this world
[6:50]there are these various easiest way to put it uh rays of
[6:58]energy that are coming various that we can do various things that
[7:04]we can do to tap into these Divine Rays one of those
[7:06]Divine raises the one of divine Baraka of divine blessing that brings
[7:13]an added benefit to every single aspect of a person's life every
[7:17]work they do every everything that every place that they go towards
[7:23]there is a level of Baraka there every place they traveled to
[7:30]there's a Baraka there now one way of doing it is through
[7:35]Dua the holy prophet will wake up every single morning and ask
[7:38]Allah to give him the Baraka of that day or the holy
[7:45]prophet says whenever you go on any travels anywhere recite this Dua
[7:54]that recited as he embarked upon the ark Mubarak take us down
[8:02]let us get down at a place that is Mubarak let us
[8:09]reach a destination that is full of blessings but there are other
[8:15]ways that are more powerful because we know that there are certain
[8:18]things you can do as many bars as you want but there
[8:23]are certain things that will block your Dua Allah forgive those sins
[8:28]of mine that block my daughter so we know that Dua is
[8:33]blocked and there are many different things that a person can do
[8:37]but I want to focus specifically on one point today that we
[8:40]find within the narrations and that is said truthfulness the one that
[8:49]is truthful will attract to Baraka to their life truthfulness is one
[8:55]of those things that brings this added benefit into the life of
[9:02]an individual and it protects a person from many of the other
[9:08]the tongue is the reason for the vast majority of the people
[9:16]ending up in hell many of the khabar 20 of them in
[9:22]fact originate from the tongue the gunahani kabira they originate from the
[9:29]tongue and so to be able to control this tongue itself is
[9:33]an art it's something that is learned people aren't just born with
[9:39]the ability to control the tongue because you'll see individuals who are
[9:44]totally unable to control their tongue be it in a you know
[9:50]even if they're not saying anything bad but some just waffle them
[9:54]talk that they're not really talking about anything but they just they
[10:01]talk and it's just doesn't go anywhere and we all know individuals
[10:04]like that where they try and explain something and they talk and
[10:07]they they just go around in circles and then by the end
[10:10]of it you think what was that person trying to explain I
[10:14]mean it made absolutely no sense the point was not conveyed so
[10:20]being able to control it itself is an art and controlling the
[10:29]tongue is one of those fundamental steps towards spiritual progression was once
[10:39]asked that how can an individual concentrate in their prayer I said
[10:47]that tell them that they should speak less speak less because the
[10:54]more they speak the more the amount of noise that is going
[11:01]to be knocking around their brain and so when they try and
[11:06]stand still all of the things that they were involved in all
[11:08]of the things that they interfered in all of the things that
[11:12]they thought they could have an opinion on all of that noise
[11:16]that they make will then come into their own minds was much
[11:22]like this he didn't speak a lot in fact at times you
[11:29]would go places and people wouldn't even know that he was the
[11:33]Allah he wouldn't talk about it he wouldn't flaunt who he was
[11:39]but I walked into a place and the first thing I want
[11:44]people to know is I am you know if you haven't seen
[11:50]me you don't know who I am because of this desire Within
[11:55]Myself this uncontained uncontrolled desire to be someone or to be acknowledged
[12:08]or to be accepted but individuals like were not like this he
[12:15]says if you want to be able to control your mind in
[12:22]Salah then control your tongue and speak less that will allow you
[12:29]to concentrate within your prayer and so when it comes to speaking
[12:38]less or when it comes to speaking having conquered the ability to
[12:44]speak less now when a person speaks they must only speak the
[12:49]truth that that goes alongside it there are many people who don't
[12:52]speak and for good reason because every time they speak you know
[12:55]every time they open their mouth they end up saying something silly
[12:59]but those are on the path to God are those who when
[13:09]they speak they only speak that which is the truth but along
[13:13]with that truth there is a sweetness to their words they're not
[13:21]harsh someone comes to rasulullah [Music] she prays she fast she's very
[13:38]she's a motmina in all senses as we would classify her but
[13:42]the only thing is ya rasulullah she's really harsh with her tongue
[13:46]when she speaks to people you know she's harsh in her tone
[13:54]she's harsh with her words and the holy prophet says then that
[13:57]is a person of hell she can do as many sujul that
[14:04]she wants she can fast as much as she wants but if
[14:05]that individual cannot control their tongue uh is still harsh to other
[14:14]people says that is a person of hell and this is why
[14:18]in the narrations it says don't look at the the length of
[14:27]the rupu of an individual or his rather look towards that individual's
[14:33]other characteristics don't look towards his sajdah or his that could just
[14:39]be a habit that he's formed and he's afraid of leaving it
[14:42]rather look towards this person's Cedric look towards his truthfulness and his
[14:50]trustworthiness both of these are part and parcel of the same thing
[14:58]to be Amana DAL to be an individual that is trustworthy is
[15:04]synonymous with being one that is truthful you have many people who
[15:13]will have the marks of sujood on their head many people who
[15:18]on desire will look like very Pious people they will be there
[15:23]in the Masjid in the front row they will be the ones
[15:28]that everybody thinks is the most Pious person but in their home
[15:32]they're harsh with their family members in their home they're harsh with
[15:39]their spouse their harsh to their children they're not that service to
[15:48]the community is worth nothing if that individual doesn't have that softness
[15:54]with them means parents both his zahidi and his bathing appearance is
[16:06]one of beauty his outward appearance you know we we focus a
[16:13]lot on the outward as well a lot of the times the
[16:15]Believers outward appearance and that's important too you know we have many
[16:20]Hadith talking about the believer the way that he dresses the way
[16:27]the Beneva should uh you know have perfume wear perfume or cologne
[16:31]or whatever you want to call it have nice clothing even though
[16:35]sometimes when we have this perception of meaning we're like oh I
[16:38]mean he used to walk around in rags it wasn't that they
[16:43]were ranks they were simple clothes but they were clean clothes they
[16:48]were nice clothes but they were simple but the latter imams as
[16:55]Society itself began to grow and increase in its socio-economic status then
[16:59]the latter imams began to dress nicely Islam was very famous for
[17:06]addressing nicely and at times people would go to him and say
[17:09]you're being arrogant and your monsters are not being arrogant I beautify
[17:13]myself for the sake of my Lord because this is what Allah
[17:19]wants from me the holy prophet would keep a bowl of water
[17:22]by the door of his house and every time he'd want to
[17:27]go out he'd look at his reflection in this bowl of water
[17:31]and make sure that he was presentable before he went out he
[17:35]would always be smelling good you know we have so many ahadis
[17:42]that there is there is no Israel when it comes to perfume
[17:44]till the end to the amount that you spend on perfume no
[17:48]matter how much you spend it's not classified as Israel it's not
[17:53]classified as wasting Allah someone meets him and he smells uh the
[18:07]perfume you know there are certain people who have that sort of
[18:13]nose for fine perfumes and says that's a very expensive perfume Imam
[18:17]that you've gone on almost in a taunt like oh my God
[18:21]why are you wearing such an expensive perfume and Imam says you
[18:24]think that this perfume is expensive you should have seen the perfumes
[18:28]that my father my mother would wear they were more expensive than
[18:33]this so both the outward of a of a movement and the
[18:36]internal of a mockman must be beautiful desire and his battle and
[18:44]one of the beautifications of the batin is to be truthful an
[18:51]individual that has truthfulness within them and there are different levels or
[19:00]aspects to truthfulness the first is having truthfulness within your near having
[19:08]said that within one's near within within one's intention and having a
[19:19]pure intention is very important in every single thing we do that
[19:25]we speak about to be Muslims to be sincere it's a very
[19:32]difficult to reach it's the highest Realm in spiritual wayfaring they talk
[19:41]about the realm of echlas being the last realm that one reaches
[19:46]after years and years of purification of the self destruction of one's
[19:54]desires destruction of oneself they finally achieved the realm of the class
[19:59]to be sincere in their actions that every single one of their
[20:05]actions truly is the highest Realm and at that point that individual
[20:13]comes to the realization and the understanding of what inali in really
[20:19]means that everything I had was never mine I don't have anything
[20:25]I don't manifestinate everything I manifest is what Allah gives to me
[20:30]what I take from the Divine names is what I then manifest
[20:33]outwards otherwise something that is that is a contingent existent cannot manifest
[20:41]it is the necessary existence that can manifest with that from himself
[20:47]everything else that is contingent takes from that which is necessary but
[20:58]to have that purity of intention that is the first stage of
[21:03]that it's the first aspect of that said foreign the opening lines
[21:21]of that Dua says Iman says Allah make my faith reach the
[21:34]most the station of perfection and make my certainty the best of
[21:42]certainties foreign and make my intentions the best of intentions vigil must
[21:59]analyze their intention behind everything when we talk about murataba in this
[22:08]is constant attention is to take account of yourself both of these
[22:17]require an individual to be aware all the time not to be
[22:24]in the state of Rapha and then to analyze why is it
[22:27]that I did what I did why is it that I chose
[22:32]to sit where I sat why is it that I chose to
[22:36]eat the way that I ate why is it that I chose
[22:40]to say salaam to someone but ignore someone else because it is
[22:45]only when I go through this exercise that I can truly analyze
[22:49]and understand how pure or impure my intentions are many a times
[22:58]in the name of Islam in the name of the religion in
[23:02]the name of the community we do many things that are contrary
[23:07]to the orders of Allah but we think Our intention was pure
[23:17]but because we never Ponder we never dive deep down inside the
[23:23]Quagmire of our own soul to really figure out why is it
[23:31]that I did what I did and this purity of intention is
[23:38]so important that the Hadith say make sure that your intention is
[23:42]pure in everything that you do even in your eating and your
[23:47]sleeping that why am I sleeping at the time that I'm sleeping
[23:53]this is what it means to do true mahasabha there are stages
[23:59]to it true why is it that I chose to sleep at
[24:05]this time why is it that I chose to eat this particular
[24:08]food why is it that certain foods are my favorite but yet
[24:13]when it comes to other Foods I say I hate them rather
[24:19]than by you know They Don't Really suit me I turn around
[24:25]and say I hate them that itself that statement itself is to
[24:32]reject a narima of Allah yes something may not suit your taste
[24:39]and you can say yeah I you know I don't particularly like
[24:43]it but that doesn't make it a bad thing but there are
[24:45]certain individuals when it comes to certain foods they're like oh get
[24:51]that away from me don't let it be in the the same
[24:53]vicinity as me you see how and sneaks in to one's intention
[25:02]and to one's day-to-day actions and it all comes down back down
[25:09]to this purity of intention and there's a very very interesting narration
[25:14]from Emilia he says says the purity of intention is a sign
[25:34]of pure birth of legitimate birth the one that is not a
[25:48]purebirth will always be the default position will be to have an
[25:52]ill intention in everything that they do but the one that is
[25:57]of pure birth they default position will be to look towards things
[26:03]in a positive light to have a positive intention later on it
[26:08]may get corrupted through the friends that they have through various experiences
[26:12]that they go through through the whisperings of shaytan but genuinely you
[26:19]look at children where it is in their nature to share that
[26:26]is in their nature you know you see a child a child
[26:31]won't care whether you know a young child that still is developing
[26:34]won't care whether another child is bitten their apple or not they'll
[26:38]still pick it up and carry on eating it because for them
[26:43]it doesn't matter but how is it that they start learning oh
[26:45]I'm not touching it now that this child has touched it through
[26:50]the parents who corrupt the purity of that mindset a child naturally
[26:56]wants to share but then why is it that we have children
[26:58]that become miserly why is it that we have children that won't
[27:02]why is it that we have children that will will intentionally hide
[27:06]things because the corruption that the parents place in their mind oh
[27:12]hide that because that person's coming and they're going to break it
[27:17]the purity of that near is innate but it's corrupted by external
[27:28]factors it says the purity of intention is indicative of the purity
[27:38]of birth and whoever has a pure intention the narration says Allah
[27:47]will increase their risk will increase the worth of whatever it is
[27:55]that they do it is purity of intention that actually affects the
[28:04]hearts a pure heart will influence the hearts we have narrations to
[28:11]this effect as well the pure heart that is giving more either
[28:16]that is giving advice will affect the other hands but when the
[28:22]heart is not pure or the heart itself is corrupted then whenever
[28:30]they try and guide you that guidance has no effect and he
[28:40]he passed away uh some years back he was very famous for
[28:51]his unique approach to certain things the first one thing that he
[28:59]would do was that he would associate with all of the gangsters
[29:02]of Tehran all of the thiefs and the gangsters and the these
[29:07]individuals he would go and visit them in their in their dens
[29:12]and whatever and so he was very famous for this and many
[29:17]scholars would turn their nose up at his particular approach one year
[29:24]after finishing the ashram and completing the charm majilis he comes out
[29:31]and he has you know his Aid with him and they're walking
[29:37]through the streets and they pass through what at that time forgive
[29:40]the time was the sort of the red light district of that
[29:47]area I said mehdi goes and as he's walking through he sees
[29:49]a young lady standing there so he says to his aide he
[29:55]says um go call that girl over here that young lady over
[30:00]here he says to him say it it's not a good look
[30:04]you know when this lady a woman of ill repute well come
[30:09]over people are going to see her talking to you he says
[30:13]I don't care call her mother he calls her over and she
[30:20]says yes he takes out from his uh Baba the envelope that
[30:26]he had been given as the hadiya for reciting the majalis for
[30:30]the ashra he says to him he says to her this is
[30:40]but you must promise that for as long as this money lasts
[30:49]you you won't come back out on the streets again Imam Hussain
[30:53]has sent this gift for you he says this he moves on
[30:58]a year later he's in Carabella on ziara and as he comes
[31:06]out of the Haram a young man approaches him says yes says
[31:12]my wife wants to speak to you So I says okay so
[31:18]he goes forward and there is a lady she's standing there sister
[31:26]yes sister you wanted to speak to me she says you don't
[31:31]recognize me do you says no it says a year ago you
[31:40]gave me some money you gave me that packet of money and
[31:46]you walked away you never looked back and you left that with
[31:53]me she says that for 15 minutes I sat in that place
[31:57]and I cried saying to myself what does Imam Hussain want with
[32:01]a person like me with a person like me just from that
[32:10]point she says I made the intention that I would never come
[32:15]back out onto the streets she said I went home I used
[32:17]this money that you had given me and I promised Imam Hussain
[32:22]I would never do this says a few weeks went by I
[32:26]met this man I married him and this is our first ziara
[32:33]to karbala see the purity of intention the purity of near it
[32:38]influences even the darkest of hearts to have truthfulness said in our
[32:46]near is what will influence others truthfulness of the tongue something that
[32:52]you all know about that one of the sins that shortens the
[32:59]life of a person is giving false oath and one that is
[33:02]a liar lying is one of those sins which is known as
[33:06]them it is the the key to all sins even those that
[33:16]lie in the way of a joke Hadith says that woe unto
[33:21]the one who tells a lie to make others laugh woe unto
[33:26]him woe unto him that even in the state of a an
[33:34]individual trying to make others laugh lying is not acceptable purity of
[33:42]intention telling the truth staying away from lies and then fulfilling one's
[33:48]Ahad one's promises towards individuals towards Allah towards the Imam of the
[33:56]time this is from amongst The Godly characteristics or the one who
[34:06]fulfills his promises or the one who is strong in his fulfillment
[34:09]these are Godly attributes of the human being and when one can
[34:20]inculcate these aspects into their life then this is what will attract
[34:30]the Divine Baraka this said this purity of intention this is what
[34:35]is needed and when that Divine barakah enters into the life of
[34:40]a person then they their name lives on forever no matter how
[34:49]young they are you look at these two sons of Muslim and
[34:54]that which they went through but yet all of these years later
[35:00]you sit here to mourn them to commemorate what befell them the
[35:12]family of Muslim gave everything for said had five children two sons
[35:27]that were in karbala two sons that accompanied him to kufa and
[35:33]one daughter his two sons were martyred in karbala his daughter Hamida
[35:46]was one of those children when the tents were being burnt and
[35:54]the children ran because there was only one entry and exit from
[35:58]the tent area from the heimaga of Imam Al Hussain because he
[36:01]had dug a trench around the back and filled it with fire
[36:06]there was only one entry and one exit from that area so
[36:08]when the tents were set on fire and the Looting began the
[36:13]children ran this way but as they ran from that area they
[36:19]were met head-on by men upon their horses and many children were
[36:23]children were trampled at that point one of those children that was
[36:28]trampled on that point of Shame was this daughter of Muslim left
[36:33]then was just Muslim his two sons and his wife when she
[36:41]returns back to Medina from amongst the three houses that yazid had
[36:45]ordered be destroyed the house of Imam Hussain and the house of
[36:55]Muslim now loses her two sons her daughter two sons she's unaware
[37:00]of their fate what has happened to them but when she returns
[37:03]to Medina she has no home her husband has been killed in
[37:10]this way all the family of Muslims was given in the way
[37:13]of say the shahada left are these two young sons of Muslim
[37:19]they went with Muslim even what is interesting these Sons die a
[37:26]year after the event of karbala for one year they are in
[37:34]prison when come to kufa they are unaware their mother is unaware
[37:38]of what the fate of her two sons has been whether they
[37:44]are alive or dead and she thinks that they've been killed but
[37:50]little does she know that her sons are still alive in a
[37:55]prison in kufa the women are taken they taken to Sham from
