[0:17]brothers and sisters it's an honor be to be with you today

[0:25]on this auspicious occasion as we celebrate the births of our imams

[0:31]IM Ali andad and this week is also the birth of Z

[0:39]and before we get into the lecture I wanted to thank the

[0:44]brothers from life for sorting out these amazing events this week I

[0:48]I was brought up in this community in this MOS I've never

[0:52]seen it look like this so I want to thank them very

[0:53]much they put a lot of hard work thank you has been

[0:58]a driving force the whole way salaat for them please now when

[1:07]I was wondering what to talk about today I thought if I

[1:11]was to ask Imam what to talk about he probably tell me

[1:14]talk about my grandfather Ali if I was to ask Imad he'd

[1:20]say talk about my grandfather Ali and if I was to ask

[1:23]what should I talk about on the occasion of your birth she'd

[1:30]say talk about Ali and so today we'll be talking about the

[1:40]merits of Al Talib his station with Allah his station in the

[1:47]Quran and the Hadith and his station with now I take you

[1:52]to the year of the elephant 1,400 years ago Prophet Muhammad sahu

[1:57]alai Al has just been born Assad comes to Abu Talib she

[2:06]wants to congratulate him on the birth of of Muhammad and he

[2:11]tells her shall I tell you something she says what he says

[2:18]wait for me be patient with me for 30 years and I'll

[2:25]bring you someone like him so Abu Talib already knew there was

[2:28]someone coming Allah knew there was someone coming 30 years later fad

[2:36]is pregnant and would talk to her stomach he'd tell her I'm

[2:39]waiting for you come on I can't start this without you I'm

[2:49]waiting and the pregnant Fatima walks outside the Kaa she raises her

[2:56]hands to Allah in Dua and she says Ya Allah I believe

[3:00]in you I believe in your prophets and I believe in all

[3:07]the scriptures you sent down with those prophets by the name of

[3:11]the one who built this house and by the one in my

[3:13]womb make the pangs of birth easy for me and as she

[3:19]made this Dua we all know the story the walls of the

[3:23]Kaa come down and she enters into the holy house and the

[3:26]beautiful thing about this is when you think about say maram and

[3:31]the birth of Jesus she had to leave the holy land when

[3:37]giving birth to ISA but F Assad was invited into the house

[3:43]of Allah now when this happened the doors of the Caba closed

[3:47]again and Mecca was in a frenzy no one could believe it

[3:52]people witnessed this and they'd come and they tried to open the

[3:55]Caba and they couldn't they had keys to the door of the

[3:57]Caba they tried to open the the door they couldn't open the

[3:59]door she stayed in there for 3 Days 3 days in the

[4:05]mercy of Allah subhana wa tala on the fourth day F Assad

[4:10]emerges with a light in her hand alibali the one who is

[4:16]going to give his life for this religion and since he was

[4:23]a baby in the Cradle Allah used to live with his father

[4:26]Abu Talib Allah would sleep next to the baby Ali he was

[4:32]sleep by the Cradle when im Ali grew up he describes how

[4:36]he was with he says is like the the baby camel he

[4:46]says I was with like the baby camel was with his mother

[4:48]it's it's under the legs of the camel it walks between the

[4:52]legs of the camel that's how he was since he was a

[4:53]baby as soon as Ali could walk and run it was that

[4:58]was all about the prophet always next to the prophet wherever the

[4:59]prophet would go Ali would go the young children ages 10 11

[5:07]12 they used to throw stones at the prophet and would ignore

[5:10]them we know how merciful he was he'd let them go but

[5:15]Ali wouldn't let them go he'd get very angry and he'd run

[5:17]to them and pull them by their ears and they wouldn't do

[5:20]it again he was with them from the very beginning and so

[5:25]when it comes to we think why did it take so long

[5:32]for to announce that Ali was going to be the one who

[5:34]would succeed him until we look to as the as the day

[5:40]of the announcement and I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking why so

[5:43]late why two months before the prophet dies does he talk about

[5:46]the announcement of the successor shouldn't it have been before well it

[5:51]was before it was way back if one is to just look

[5:55]at the history between and Ali they would know it's so obvious

[6:00]it's just in so many different sources even if you were to

[6:05]gather them you would think this is too obvious that there was

[6:07]no confusion when the prophet passed away there wasn't confusion things happened

[6:12]but the confusion about successor was not there everyone knew who the

[6:16]successor was from the beginning the first announcement of Ali succeeding the

[6:24]prophet was Ali was still very young at that time and the

[6:29]Ayah comes down tell your close ones your near relatives Allah is

[6:35]telling the prophet tell your near relatives about what so the prophet

[6:39]gathers his relatives gathers the B hashin Abu Talib is there B

[6:48]has is there and he tells them who is going to be

[6:58]the one who's going to be my brother my trustee and the

[7:02]after me three times he says it and he puts his hand

[7:06]on the shoulders of the very young Ali and he says if

[7:18]it was that clear and by the way this is not just

[7:22]a sh Hadith this is famous between the Shia and the Sunni

[7:25]hadiths this 100% happened so one would wonder what happened in between

[7:33]and all this time what happened what happened was the blossoming of

[7:40]Ali as the second in charge of the Islamic umah he blossomed

[7:43]as the one who would take over after the prophet if you

[7:48]look at how they lived together he was the adviser of the

[7:50]prophet he was the general of the army of the prophet he

[7:53]was the flagbearer of the prophet he was a personal bodyguard of

[7:57]the prophet he would take care of all the things that need

[8:00]to be care of in the government of the Prophet if a

[8:05]sec if a man was to come a random man if you

[8:08]put him in Medina at the time and you let him stay

[8:14]for two days and no one tell him anything two days let

[8:16]him watch the city watch what's happening in Medina and you asked

[8:23]him excuse me who is the one who is the second in

[8:25]charge of the Islamic um he'd say it's it's him it's it's

[8:28]that one he's the one that's always with the prophet that goes

[8:31]home with the prophet that leaves the house with the prophet it

[8:35]was very clear anyone could see it it didn't even need happened

[8:40]because never before in history at that time had that many people

[8:45]been gathered in Mecca around the Caba so took the opportunity and

[8:51]he announced it after announcing it so many times throughout his life

[8:55]but it didn't actually need an announcement it was very evident this

[9:00]is a MK what's more evident what's more clear me telling you

[9:04]this is a mosque or it being a mosque it being a

[9:07]mosque Ali him being the successor is more clear than someone saying

[9:11]he is the successor it was very clear and if someone wants

[9:14]the announcements the announcements are various it happened in in when they

[9:22]came to pay allegiance to Abu Bakr a man by the name

[9:28]of came to AB he says how can we pay allegiance to

[9:40]you and we paid Allegiance already to Ali they had already done

[9:45]it the the examples of Ali station are various when it came

[9:50]to knowledge IM Ali would sit down and ask the prophet and

[9:52]the prophet would answer and all the companions would be gathered around

[9:58]and then when im Ali would stop the prophet would begin to

[10:02]give him knowledge without the IM asking and everyone would be very

[10:05]curious especially the three khalifas they'd be curious as to what's happening

[10:09]what are they talking about when they would finish they would ask

[10:14]Ali what happened what did he tell you and Ali would say

[10:20]he gave me a thousand doors of knowledge and each door was

[10:23]a thousand more doors and in each of those was the answer

[10:29]to a thousand questions in knowledge he was separated from everyone else

[10:34]it was very personal in the mosque when the prophet would sit

[10:39]down you know sometimes your knees they cramp up no one would

[10:41]dare to come to touch the prophet and lift him only Ali

[10:45]would do that Ali would come lift up the prophet and woke

[10:48]off with him Lon it was this close he was his personal

[10:53]bodyguard he couldn't keep his eyes off him he was always with

[10:55]him he had this relationship with him and and Ali says in

[11:00]bad he would only go a few meters away from the prophet

[11:03]to fight and then come back to make sure the prophet's okay

[11:05]he was very anxious when it came to the prophet there was

[11:08]one time forget war in Medina and when they came to Medina

[11:15]one day Ali walked with the prophet they went home went into

[11:19]his house and then as Ali came out he got worried the

[11:22]prophet was out of his sites for a few minutes and Ali

[11:25]was worried he was anxious so he came back to the house

[11:29]and he knocked on the door and one of the wives of

[11:32]the Prophet said is busy right now but Ali couldn't accept it

[11:35]he knocked again and she said he's busy and he wouldn't leave

[11:40]he knocked when came he asked who's at the door she told

[11:43]him Ali said open the door forget that but let's think about

[11:47]how anxious he was coming home how he couldn't get his eyes

[11:51]off him he was always with him they had this relationship there's

[11:56]a nice story that I like about one of the chiefs of

[12:01]the the Arabs their daughter was taken in a war by the

[12:03]Muslims now Allah he didn't want to make her a prisoner because

[12:08]her father was very well known and very powerful so Allah wanted

[12:11]her father to come so he can speak to him so he

[12:15]can become a Muslim when this young woman was sitting down she

[12:21]wanted to ask the prophet to free her but she was very

[12:25]shy the prophet knew this but she was shy every time the

[12:28]prophet would come next to her she wanted to to say please

[12:31]let me go but she didn't know how IM Ali would be

[12:33]there he tell her speak to him speak to him now what

[12:38]does that tell you he was the Secretary of the Prophet if

[12:43]you wanted him Ali would hook you up with a little little

[12:45]message little hangout with the prophet that's who it was to him

[12:53]they were that close it was evident it doesn't need an announcement

[12:56]we all know the story of the Hijra to Medina when Ali

[13:02]slept in the prophet's bed and the prophet took the back roads

[13:05]to get to Medina in the middle of the night it took

[13:09]him 15 days and Abu Bakr was waiting for him in Medina

[13:15]although the prophet had told everyone to go to Medina Abu Bakr

[13:18]was waiting for him in Mecca he surprised him on the way

[13:22]and he had two camels so had arranged this already now the

[13:27]prophet did not accept the camel except to pay for it he

[13:31]paid for the camp and we'll know why now because when you

[13:36]look back at history every little detail counts for something you see

[13:39]now we're trying to gather the sources to get an idea about

[13:42]how it was at that time the prophet station the IM Ali

[13:46]station with the prophet at that time and so he pays for

[13:50]the camel and they're on their way to Medina they stop about

[13:52]7 kilm outside of Medina in a town called kba those who

[13:57]have been to Hajj They Know kba M is the place where

[14:00]prayed his first prayer before going in he built a Masid there

[14:05]now he stopped there Abu Bakr told him let's go inside let's

[14:12]go to Madina said I won't go inside without the one who

[14:16]sacrificed himself for me I won't go inside without Ali now the

[14:20]narration say Abu Bakr pleaded with the prophet to go inside he

[14:23]was very adamant why he was adamant and he actually got upset

[14:29]and so he entered Medina on his own it says that he

[14:35]went into Medina on his own forget but why upset usually we

[14:43]get upset when we lose something what have you lost let me

[14:49]take you back toini when he was coming down coming returning to

[14:54]Iran After the Revolution you know that picture of K coming down

[14:58]the plane it's a famous picture iconic picture right we all know

[15:03]that picture who is he holding who is holding his hand as

[15:07]he comes down who's he leaning on you see behind him is

[15:10]behind him is S Ahmed his son you see all the men

[15:15]of the Revolution there but he calls the French captain of the

[15:20]Air France come hold my hand because he can't be the why

[15:23]because he knows this iconic picture is going to go down in

[15:29]history we all know it and if people look at that picture

[15:31]they would say the one who's holding him is a second in

[15:34]charge someone might misunderstand the person who's holding his hand might misuse

[15:39]it he might give an interview afterwards and act like he's second

[15:45]in charge so called the Efron's Captain didn't hold his son's hand

[15:49]didn't hold's hand this is how the men of history think they

[15:52]think very far ahead now is thinking this way may have taken

[15:58]this from he does not want to enter Medina with someone who

[16:00]is not the second in charge because it's an iconic picture is

[16:03]finally coming to Madina who second in charge with him it has

[16:07]to be Ali so he doesn't enter with anyone else he's waiting

[16:10]for Ali and so he sends word back for Ali to come

[16:15]to Medina and IM Ali comes he rents the camels he brings

[16:18]the with him his mother Assad and I believe F Hamza the

[16:27]he rents the camel and the man who's sorting the camel out

[16:31]for him he's very nervous because qu is going to come and

[16:36]stop them don't worry take your time he doesn't mind he comes

[16:39]in broad daylight in broad daylight he tells him take your time

[16:45]the Fatam get onto the camels and they make their way and

[16:50]on this day qur knew that they have someone on their hands

[16:52]it's going to be a big thorn in their eyes because they

[16:56]sent Warriors to stop Ali Ali fought protected before he was married

[17:01]to her it says that his body was Bloody he fought in

[17:07]protection of the fatim and he reached Medina on foot the fatim

[17:12]W the camel and he was on foot we often don't realize

[17:18]how difficult his journey was he was on foot and he got

[17:21]to Medina he prayed with the prophet and they entered Medina together

[17:25]and they had the iconic picture Allah with a second in charge

[17:36]Alam even his enemies knew this in the time where Ali was

[17:44]khif mua was also khif in sham Muhammad IB Abu Bakr one

[17:51]of the companions of Ali he was the governor of Egypt he

[17:53]wrote a letter to muaah he said to muaah how can you

[17:58]even try to compete with Ali who are you and who is

[18:01]Ali why are you trying to be Theif you know mu replied

[18:05]to him in a letter this letter is in a book called

[18:11]s it's a very old book after the battle of s and

[18:14]mua writes in the letter it's very clear because you're right is

[18:25]saying it he says Ali in the time of the Prophet was

[18:32]like the stars in the skies you couldn't reach him mua is

[18:36]saying it what does that mean it tells you if you wanted

[18:40]to speak to Ali you had to have someone to hook you

[18:43]up with Ali as well Ali was at the station of in

[18:49]the time of Allah he was right there if you come to

[18:53]the Quran and Hadith oh too much too much much and Scholars

[19:04]say in the Quran when it's in a positive way it's about

[19:12]the straight path give us the straight path it means give us

[19:17]Al it means give us Al in the Quran the great news

[19:24]in the Quran is about when the prophet went up in he

[19:31]went to the heavens Allah T spoke to him directly but he

[19:35]spoke to him in special sound waves he spoke to him in

[19:40]a special voice he says I want to speak to you in

[19:41]the voice that's most loved by you so when the prophet comes

[19:46]back he says he spoke to me in the voice of alali

[19:56]Allah spoke to Allah in Ali's voice Ali was down in Medina

[20:05]but he spoke to him and Ali's voice just his voice the

[20:09]sound waves he chose that special voice in the the prophet with

[20:18]the priest he says we will bring our sons and your sons

[20:23]our women and your women ourselves and yourselves he brings IM Ali

[20:32]as his hisself you are a messenger and for every people is

[20:43]a guide says to Ali Ali I am the Messenger and you

[20:48]are the guide and through you will the people be guided then

[20:56]you come to it's been said so many times before but Allah

[21:04]still says tell them what was sent down to you if you

[21:06]don't it's as if you have done nothing that's how important it

[21:11]is until he raises his hands and says that's thean say today

[21:16]I has I have perfected for you your religion after he lifted

[21:22]his hand he says that in Medina the doors of the people

[21:25]were opened to the mosque then the order came down close all

[21:32]the doors except the door of Ali to the mosque and the

[21:39]companions would think why why like this to ask the prophet is

[21:41]it because he's your brother he's your son-in-law is it because he's

[21:47]your cousin Prophet would say I didn't do this Allah did this

[21:50]Allah said to do this not me you're the one who is

[21:58]the divider Between Heaven and Hell anyone who goes in must get

[22:02]permission from him so when people are going into heaven they stop

[22:08]them they respons they need to be questioned question about what a

[22:18]Sunni scholar Abu Bak MWI he says about this this he says

[22:22]they're going to be question about the of and this one's beautiful

[22:31]we all know that the truth is with Ali and Ali is

[22:36]with truth but then he says he says let the truth go

[22:44]where Ali goes not Ali goes where truth goes Ali first and

[22:50]Truth follows Ali that's how much Ali you are to me like

[22:57]har is to M me and Ali are from One Tree everyone

[22:59]else is from several different trees I am the city of knowledge

[23:05]and Ali is the gate when you bring all of these together

[23:09]you understand it was very obvious it there's no question about it

[23:14]you just have to gather them and see and you'll notice his

[23:19]station how big how high it was now to end this with

[23:26]the story a very I find it a heartbreaking story it's towards

[23:31]the end of IM Ali alam's life now he is the Khalifa

[23:36]in kufa after everything he's been through in the Islamic Mission he

[23:40]has gone through being raised by the prophet losing his father he

[23:44]loses the prophet all the Wars all the battles he loses s

[23:49]zah 25 years of Oppression his rights taken away from him loses

[23:56]Amar loses Malik loses all his friends now Ali is in kufa

[24:03]he is Theif his time is coming he comes to wake up

[24:11]a man called No says yeah no they in the mosque and

[24:13]there's no roof Yos he says y are you asleep or are

[24:23]you awake and no says I'm awake what is it and no

[24:26]is narrating this Hadith no says I looked at him and he

[24:31]was looking up at the skies watching the stars and he was

[24:36]longing for something as if he was yearning for something there was

[24:39]a sense of loneliness to him Ali was looking up at the

[24:42]stars and he began to speak he says he's speaking about the

[24:53]ones who turned away from d and want the afterlife he's thinking

[24:57]about people who are going to leave the Earth so potentially he's

[25:03]thinking about you if you choose to leave this world and be

[25:07]a for the next World IM Ali is watching the Stars thinking

[25:11]about his followers that are coming yearning for them and missing them

[25:15]he says they're so humble in their hearts that the Earth is

[25:21]their floor water is their perfume they are always engaged in Quran

[25:26]and Dua he says they turned away from the world like they

[25:32]had the path of Ali is watching these Stars when we celebrate

[25:36]his birth we're celebrating our Salvation through him we are saved this

[25:44]is what he wants us to be so whenever the world is

[25:50]starting to take us away I want you guys to remember that

[25:54]story of him watching the stars and thinking about potentially thinking about

[25:59]you he's missing you if you are to be of those people
