[1:52]one of the greatest prophets that is mentioned in the quran is

[2:00]prophet zakaria alaihi salaam zachary and his story revolves around the life

[2:10]of mariam also one of the greatest women to be born and

[2:17]the mother of jesus and the birth of his own son yahya

[2:23]john the baptist zakaria he lived in al quds and the time

[2:34]that he lived was just a short while before jesus just a

[2:39]short while so bc you know they say time right now we're

[2:44]in 2017 starting from the birth of jesus even though i don't

[2:47]know how accurate that is but he was just a little bit

[2:51]before that time just a little bit before the birth of isa

[2:56]the birth of jesus and allah tested zachariah zachary with many tests

[3:07]many difficult tests and these are all lessons for us just like

[3:11]the lessons from prophet sallallaimhan dawud musa and the prophets before there

[3:18]are many lessons from prophet zakaria alaihis salam prophet zakaria his wife

[3:27]she was the sister of the mother of maryam so maryam her

[3:34]mother and the mother of yahya the wife of zakariah they were

[3:40]sisters so meaning that miriam and yahya they were cousins they were

[3:45]cousins with one another the wife of zakaria her name is isha

[3:51]or in the english the biblical term they call her elizabeth and

[3:57]the wife of imran who is the mother of miriam her name

[4:02]is hannah hannah and the father of miriam is imran and there's

[4:09]a chapter in the quran al imran now mufasireen and scholars they're

[4:14]in disagreement whether this al imran is referring to imran the father

[4:19]of maryam or imran the father of isa and they're both two

[4:24]different imran's but they're both holy families and they're both families of

[4:30]prophets so the mother of maryam hannah after a very long time

[4:39]she also couldn't have children so after a very long time allah

[4:44]subhanahu wa ta'ala granted imran and hannah a newborn child and she

[4:51]was pregnant and imran was either a prophet of allah or he

[4:55]was one of the greatest greatest men of his time awali min

[5:00]awliyaallah so allah tells him that your child is going to be

[5:05]one of the greatest of their time so they thought that their

[5:09]child was going to be a man because all of the prophets

[5:13]of allah they were men then when hannah gave birth she gave

[5:17]birth to maryam she gave birth to a female and allah subhanahu

[5:23]wa ta'ala discusses the dilemma and the crisis that was during that

[5:29]time because they had the mother of maryam she had done a

[5:32]vow that whatever she gives birth to this child is going to

[5:38]be serving in the temple this child is going to be basically

[5:43]gifted to allah gifted to the temple to serve in the temple

[5:48]so she gave birth to a female and this created a crisis

[5:53]during the time who's going to come and allow a female in

[5:57]the temple at that time women were not allowed in a specific

[6:01]area of the temple so discusses the story insha'allah tomorrow when we

[6:08]speak about jesus we will go more into detail regarding this how

[6:13]it was zakaria who was meant to care for miriam zakaria was

[6:20]also in the temple he was praying he was a prophet of

[6:23]allah and they with the other rabbis they had a basically a

[6:32]random choice choosing something choosing a stick who is going to care

[6:38]for maryam allah describes in the quran they would throw their pencils

[6:50]their stick allah is telling the story to rasulullah saying you were

[7:02]not with them but we are telling you the story and this

[7:06]is one of the miracles of rasulullah the miracles of the quran

[7:10]is that the quran emerged in arabia and mecca but the quran

[7:15]tells us the story of adam the story of nuwa the story

[7:18]of zakaria ibrahim musa isa harun all of these prophets of allah

[7:24]who were in a completely different area but allah tells the story

[7:29]to rasulullah rasulullah before the quran came down rasulullah never used to

[7:36]read and write in front of people and this was one of

[7:39]the miracles so now we move to zakaria zakaria is caring for

[7:45]maryam he cares for her he brings her food he helps her

[7:49]he protects her and she is living in the temple but now

[7:55]zakaria he himself he doesn't have a child he doesn't have a

[8:02]progeny so hannah gave birth but her sister elizabeth her sister elizabeth

[8:09]isha cannot give birth and she is sterile she cannot have children

[8:16]so here allah subhanahu wa ta'ala discusses the story of prophet zakaria

[8:22]in surat mariam chapter of mariam allah begins and these are letters

[8:31]a lot of scholars they have many different interpretations what are the

[8:36]meaning of these letters some say these letters came down upon the

[8:40]arabs to show them that you are so proud of your arabic

[8:44]language now try to come up with a quran like this these

[8:48]are your letters your tools you are proud of your letters and

[8:52]your arabic language but through the arabic language allah comes and brings

[8:57]out a miracle and the miracle of rasulullah the greatest miracle of

[9:01]rasulullah is the quran every prophet they had their own miracle but

[9:05]the greatest miracle of rasulullah is the quran and it came down

[9:08]in an arabic language and the people at that time they were

[9:12]very proud of their arabic language so this is one of the

[9:15]interpretations another interpretation is that these are mysterious letters that have a

[9:23]mysterious meaning and the meaning is with allah allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[9:33]speaks about his mercy the mercy of allah towards zakaria called in

[9:46]a soft tone he called allah he says oh allah i have

[10:02]become an old man my hair is all gray my bones are

[10:07]frail and you have never have never not answered my dua however

[10:44]me someone to inherit me a child to inherit me i have

[10:49]i don't have a child i want a child to inherit me

[10:52]why he says the narrations say that some of his family members

[11:00]some of his relatives they were going to inherit from him and

[11:04]zakaria he was the one who was caring for the temple zakaria

[11:08]was the prophet he was the one who was making sure that

[11:12]everyone is doing what they have to do he was the one

[11:15]who was doing amr ibn ma'ruf enjoining the good and forbidding the

[11:18]evil now if he dies some of his immoral some of his

[11:26]sinful relatives are going to come and say yes zakaria was the

[11:31]prophet we inherit from him and we are going to take over

[11:34]so he was worried about the religion he was worried about faith

[11:38]and about the relationship with allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and he did

[11:42]not want any of the sinful family to come and inherit from

[11:46]him if they were believers then there's nothing wrong with that but

[11:50]here it shows that he says the ones who will inherit from

[11:57]me they don't deserve to inherit from me and my wife is

[12:03]barren my wife is sterile she's infertile so oh allah i want

[12:10]to have a child and this shows prophet zakaria at an old

[12:14]age he's asking allah to have an heir to have someone who

[12:20]will inherit him and here he says o allah grant me i

[12:33]don't just want any child and this is a lesson for many

[12:37]of the parents or the ones who are to be parents some

[12:40]just want to have children some just want to have be called

[12:44]a father or mother but here we learn from the prophets of

[12:48]allah he says o allah grant me a pious child one that

[12:54]you are satisfied with because many they have children and then their

[12:59]children end up becoming a niqmah upon them like prophet nuh prophet

[13:03]nuh he was a prophet of allah he was a man who

[13:07]his whole life he's preaching to people but then at the end

[13:11]of his life his own son did not refuse to ride in

[13:15]the ark with him so here prophet zakaria and we also learned

[13:20]this from prophet ibrahim who these two prophets they're always asking allah

[13:25]to have a sound progeny not just a progeny to have a

[13:29]healthy and not just physical health but spiritual health and this is

[13:33]what's important so he says says o allah grant me grant me

[13:39]he inherits from me and he inherits from jacob so this is

[13:53]the whispers of prophet zakaria to his lord during that time at

[13:59]an old age he doesn't give up he doesn't give up in

[14:02]allah now a lot of people once they're older there's a lot

[14:06]of things a lot of ambitions things that they had dreams that

[14:10]they had when they were younger they give up on it but

[14:13]here zakaria didn't give up because the keys to happiness and the

[14:18]keys to wealth and the keys to anything are in the hands

[14:21]of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala if you keep asking allah allah subhanahu

[14:26]wa ta'ala can give you but allah subhanahu wa ta'ala sometimes he

[14:31]delays the ijabah allah answers the dua allah says call upon me

[14:41]and i will answer you but sometimes we say why isn't my

[14:45]dua answered or allah does not answer the dua no allah answers

[14:49]the dua but sometimes allah does not give me maybe because this

[14:54]is not good for me sometimes we don't know what to ask

[14:57]for our minds our intellect is limited allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has

[15:03]much more knowledge than us sometimes he does not give me something

[15:06]because there's another benefit for me that i will see later on

[15:10]and many times many times this has happened with us and with

[15:13]with many people we do dua we ask allah it doesn't happen

[15:18]and then later on we say alhamdulillah it didn't happen this has

[15:22]happened to many of us why allah says allah he knows what's

[15:28]best for us in the dua that we just recited dua alif

[15:31]titaq we recite maybe the dua that was delayed maybe the dua

[15:44]that was not given to me when i ask maybe this is

[15:48]better for me not maybe yes it is better for me certainly

[15:52]this is better for me why because allah knows the ending of

[15:58]things i don't know the ending of things maybe i ask allah

[16:01]for something right now i ask allah to be rich maybe that

[16:05]money that comes to me it's going to end up harming me

[16:07]and harming my family and my children maybe i ask allah for

[16:10]a child now and this will hurt me allah promises to give

[16:16]me a child later on so allah knows what's better for us

[16:22]so this is what happened to zakariah zakariah was tested but at

[16:25]the end of his life allah answered his dua ibrahim same thing

[16:29]allah answered his dua at a later stage in his life allah

[16:34]says in the quran in another verse he says don't leave me

[16:51]alone one person and you are the best of inheritors this is

[17:22]a dua if you want to have children you recite this dua

[17:26]the dua of the prophets we know how to ask allah but

[17:30]the prophets also know how to ask allah and this is why

[17:34]we should always use the dua's of the prophets what did the

[17:38]prophets ask allah that is the best thing to ask allah because

[17:42]these prophets are much more wise than us these prophets they know

[17:46]they have much more understanding than us and they know what to

[17:49]ask for oh allah give us in this life and in the

[17:57]afterlife the prophet zakaria these are the ways the way that the

[18:05]prophets and the imams ask allah this is the way that we

[18:09]should ask allah then allah says right away we answered his dua

[18:19]and we gave him john who is known as john the baptist

[18:29]his wife she was infertile she was barren she had passed the

[18:33]age of fertility allah says we healed the problem that was with

[18:44]his wife so that she was able to have children why because

[18:56]this is a family that they would rush to do what is

[19:00]good and this is one of the traits of the mu'mineen if

[19:08]you many times we say i want to do something good i

[19:10]want to give charity i want to help out i want to

[19:13]feed people i want to do something if you have that thought

[19:18]in your head go and do it very quickly before shaitan comes

[19:22]or before desires come or before you get distracted and you will

[19:26]not be able to do it here allah describes the family of

[19:30]zakaria and his wife they used to rush to do what is

[19:37]good and they would call allah with hope and with fear we

[19:46]have to have two type there has to be fear from allah

[19:51]but there has to also be hope in allah they were humble

[20:03]in front of allah they would humble themselves in front of allah

[20:07]this is one of the lessons that we learn from the family

[20:13]of zakariah is that they would rush to do the good and

[20:17]allah says in the quran if you hear there's an opportunity to

[20:32]do something good rush to that opportunity just like if we hear

[20:35]someone is giving out money there's a sale it's good friday black

[20:39]thursday black friday not good friday black friday right black friday there's

[20:48]a cell we all rush to it but now we hear how

[20:56]many of us are prepared to be ready and go to laylat

[21:00]al qadr how many of us are will rush to someone says

[21:04]there's an act that must have to do on this night how

[21:07]many of us will rush to that allah says in the quran

[21:18]rush towards the maghfirah from your lord in another verse allah says

[21:28]in one verse and another one race yes there's good it's not

[21:34]a bad thing to have a competition two brothers two family members

[21:38]to compete with one another over the good we usually compete over

[21:42]the bad we compete over who does more bad or compete over

[21:46]this dunya who has more money allah says in the quran compete

[21:50]with one another compete with one another over satisfying allah and do

[21:58]that which satisfies allah so this is why allah answers the dua

[22:05]they used to rush to do the khair and they would ask

[22:11]allah in times of good they would ask allah and also in

[22:16]times of fear would turn to allah usually we only turn to

[22:20]allah when we are in distress but how many actually turn to

[22:25]allah and do dua and do munajat when life is good when

[22:30]i'm living very good i'm healthy i'm comfortable my children are comfortable

[22:34]my family is comfortable how many of us will beg allah subhanahu

[22:37]wa ta'ala when we are comfortable this is what we learn from

[22:42]the family of zakaria and this is why allah answered their dua

[22:48]this is why allah answered their dua after they were old allah

[22:52]subhanahu wa ta'ala gave them we are giving you good news of

[23:10]a gulam a young child his name is yahya and no one

[23:19]has this name before him he says o allah how can i

[23:34]have even he was asking allah for a child but when it

[23:39]was answered he's surprised he says oh allah how can i have

[23:43]a child after i've become such an old man and my wife

[23:47]is infertile allah says for me it's very easy in the hands

[23:57]of allah it's very very easy now your wife she's giving birth

[24:07]to a child but you were created when you were nothing you

[24:13]were nothing i created you which one is more difficult having a

[24:18]woman that is a little bit older get pregnant or some who

[24:22]was that was nothing one that was nothing and allah subhanahu wa

[24:25]ta'ala creates a person creates a man and then zakaria says oh

[24:32]allah give me a sign he says give me a sign your

[24:48]sign is that you will not be able to speak to people

[24:52]for three nights for three for three nights you will not be

[24:56]able to speak to people except through signaling to them and through

[25:00]the zikr of allah that is the only thing that you will

[25:03]be able to say and then he was in the mihrab he

[25:11]was in the prayer room he was praying when he had this

[25:14]dialogue with allah with the angels he came out and he reminded

[25:28]them to glorify allah during the day and during the night and

[25:34]this is the blessings of the dhikr of allah we should always

[25:39]have the dhikr of allah on our mind anything that happens in

[25:43]our life if something good happened you say alhamdulillah when you want

[25:47]to start something say bismillah when you want to thank allah say

[25:53]keeping that bond with allah that will be what helps us allah

[26:00]says in the quran remember allah constantly have allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[26:08]in your mind and this is what he came out of the

[26:12]mihrab after he has just seen a miracle he had just seen

[26:15]a miracle from allah now he comes and he reminds people to

[26:21]remember allah in another verse allah says the angels began to speak

[26:34]to him while he was standing and praying in the mihrab praying

[26:39]to allah allah has given you yahya now we will switch to

[26:58]yahya alaihi salaam yahya was the son of zakaria and he was

[27:04]also one of the greatest prophets of allah who was also a

[27:08]lesson for us there are many lessons to be learned from his

[27:12]life and allah describes how yahya was he is going to be

[27:21]the first to believe in the kalima of allah who is kalima

[27:25]to allah isa because yahya and isa according to one hadith they

[27:33]were six months apart they were six months apart in age yahya

[27:38]was older and when isa came yahya was one of the first

[27:42]to believe in him and people at that time they had grown

[27:47]to respect yahya they loved yahya they saw what kind of a

[27:51]person yahya was so once he believed in jesus and he accepted

[27:56]isa many people accepted isa so here allah says he was the

[28:02]first to believe he's a master and he is protected by allah

[28:14]subhanahu wa ta'ala and he is also a prophet of allah subhanahu

[28:22]wa ta'ala and this is the family allah says in the quran

[28:28]that allah chose certain families allah chose them all ibrahim allah chose

[28:36]them over the universe and this is this is one of the

[28:40]families that allah chose many prophets from that family so now yahya

[28:48]was a young child but he was a young child who was

[28:51]a prophet of allah even at a young age and there's nothing

[28:56]wrong with that if allah instills the knowledge in a person's heart

[29:01]then allah gives that person the knowledge defend the book stand with

[29:13]the book at that time the torah and we gave him the

[29:20]knowledge and the prophethood when he was a young child the hadith

[29:24]says that the kids used to come to him and call him

[29:27]oh yahya come and play with us he would tell them we

[29:32]were not created to play we were created for allah subhanahu wa

[29:36]ta'ala he was a prophet of allah a young child but he

[29:41]was a great prophet of allah placed the hanaan the love and

[29:52]the compassion in his heart and allah purified him purifying the soul

[30:02]purifying the zakat purifies the soul and he was pious he was

[30:10]pious and he was he showed the bar he showed the respect

[30:20]towards his parents allah sends three salaams to that was a great

[30:30]day a day of miracle the day of his birth because even

[30:34]his birth had a miraculous element to it on the day of

[30:42]his death because even in his death yahya was killed yahya was

[30:47]a shaheed he was beheaded because he stood for the truth because

[30:52]he stood with the haq the king of his time beheaded him

[30:56]and the day that they are the day that he is lifted

[31:06]and the souls rise to allah and according to one hadith these

[31:10]are the three most difficult moments in a person's life the day

[31:15]of birth that is a very fearful moment a a scary time

[31:22]and the transition the three transitions in a person's life the birth

[31:27]coming into this life and leaving this life that is also a

[31:31]very difficult hour and the hour of nushoor the hour when the

[31:36]souls rise to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala prophet yahya he was with

[31:44]isa and he resembled jesus in many ways he lived the aesthetic

[31:49]lifestyle the zuhd both he yahya and jesus they lived a very

[31:55]pious lifestyle they would eat the food from the earth and they

[31:59]would sleep their blanket was the sky and their their pillow was

[32:04]the rocks and the earth on the ground this is how they

[32:07]were this is how they were and they were both young and

[32:12]they were both prophets of allah yahya isa was a newborn infant

[32:19]a newborn child and he was a prophet of allah and yahya

[32:22]was also a young child and he was a prophet of allah

[32:26]the quran speaks about this now i find it surprising why some

[32:30]people accept yahya and isa as prophets of allah but when we

[32:35]come and we tell them imam al jawad imam al hadi imam

[32:38]al mahdi they were also young when they were imams when they

[32:42]were leaders they were chosen by allah some say no no no

[32:45]they were too young how could they be leaders and the same

[32:48]is said about amir al mumineen ali ibn abi talib he was

[32:51]the first to believe in rasulullah but some they come and they

[32:54]try to minimize the importance of the faith of amir al mu'mineen

[32:59]they say he was the first kid to believe in rasulullah as

[33:02]if there's a difference when it comes to believing in allah so

[33:08]yahya resembled jesus in a way and he also has a resemblance

[33:13]with imam al hussain there's a resemblance between yahya and imam al

[33:19]hussain and the resemblance one of them is that they were both

[33:24]their mothers the mother of yahya elizabeth and fatima zahra they were

[33:29]both pregnant with yahya and fatima and imam al hussain for six

[33:35]months the duration of the pregnancy was six months for imam al

[33:40]hussain just like it was for yahya and subhanallah allah chose this

[33:46]correlation this closeness parallelism between imam al hussain and because their ending

[33:52]is also the same another feature that they had together is that

[33:58]their names were also names that no one had heard of those

[34:02]names before yahya allah says no one had the name of yahya

[34:08]before yahya allah gave that name to yahya and same with imam

[34:13]al hussain it was a name according to hadith that it was

[34:18]a name that was exclusively for imam al hussain and they were

[34:22]both killed in the way of allah they were both killed by

[34:27]tyrants of their time imam zain al abideen he says whenever we

[34:35]would leave with my father imam al hussain every stop that he

[34:39]would stop on his way to karbala every time he starts moving

[34:43]the caravan starts moving he would say every time we stop or

[34:55]we move he would constantly remember yahya the son of zakaria and

[35:00]imam al hussein would say imam al hussain would say this life

[35:18]is worthless why because the head of yahya the prophet of allah

[35:25]is gifted to an adulteress to a lady that's an adulteress this

[35:31]is what imam al hussain would say and this is exactly what

[35:43]happened to imam al hussain just like the head of yahya was

[35:48]gifted to the adulteress of the time the head of imam al

[35:53]hussain was taken all the way to shamm to the courtyard of

[35:59]yazid now the story is that there was a king during the

[36:05]time of yahya king herod and this king he fell in love

[36:13]with his niece he had a niece and he fell in love

[36:17]with her and he wanted to marry her now yahya he he

[36:25]was used to the king used to bring him close to to

[36:30]him so that he could legitimize his rule sometimes you see the

[36:34]kings they bring religious people they would bring the prophets so that

[36:38]people say yes this person's power is legitimized this person deserves to

[36:43]be followed but yahya he was a prophet of allah whenever time

[36:48]for amr ibn maruf comes he was he would do amr ibn

[36:51]maruf and he would do naji al munkar enjoining the good and

[36:54]forbidding the evil so then this king he wanted to marry his

[37:01]niece his niece he wanted to marry her and she came she

[37:07]wanted the king to marry her so she came and she seduced

[37:11]the king of the time and she tells him you have to

[37:15]marry me now yahya comes and he says this is haram this

[37:21]is not accepted you cannot marry your own niece there are many

[37:25]women out there go and marry any woman that you want you

[37:28]want to come and marry your niece yahya stood in his way

[37:33]she became very upset she went and she seduced the king and

[37:39]then she tells him i have one thing from you he tells

[37:42]her anything that you want he was in love he tells her

[37:45]anything that you want she tells him i want the head of

[37:49]yahya ibn zakaria i want the head of yahya the great prophet

[37:54]of allah so he goes and apparently even though herod he was

[38:01]not from bani israel but apparently there was a type of they

[38:06]were working together with bani israel many of bani israel they worked

[38:10]with that king and they cooperated with one another and the great

[38:15]prophet of allah yahya he was in the masjid praying he was

[38:19]in the he was praying in the mihrab and they came and

[38:22]they beheaded him while he was praying to allah they come and

[38:27]they take his head and they place it in a pot they

[38:30]place it in a tray and they go and they take it

[38:34]that king he goes and he gives it to that lady that

[38:37]he loved to his own niece and the blood began to boil

[38:44]it began to move until they they made sure to keep the

[38:48]blood in the tray but one drop of the blood it came

[38:52]out and it went on the floor and it would keep boiling

[38:57]they keep coming and throwing soil over it to cover it it

[39:01]keeps coming up it keeps rising it keeps rising the narrations say

[39:09]that the blood of yahya kept boiling until 70,000 from bani israel

[39:15]were killed until 70,000 were killed because of the murder of yahya

[39:21]and that was the time that the temple was destructed the temple

[39:28]that the jewish temple it was destructed twice the first the first

[39:33]time it was destructed was with when nabuchad nosar from babylon he

[39:38]came with an army and he killed many of the israelites and

[39:44]the temple was destructed now there are some scholars that say it

[39:49]was nabuchad nussar who came and he destroyed the temple and killed

[39:54]many after the death of yahya but there's a difference of opinion

[39:59]regarding this because many historians say that nabokh nussar who came from

[40:03]babylon this was around three or four centuries before yahya so this

[40:08]took place before and the temple was destroyed twice so yahya the

[40:13]temple was destroyed and the second time the temple was destroyed was

[40:19]when a roman army came and they destroyed the temple after the

[40:25]murder of yahya now narrations say that zakariyah was also killed these

[40:34]were two prophets of allah the father and the son they were

[40:37]both killed in the way of allah zakariyah after either after or

[40:44]before i found two narrations probably after after killing yahya they came

[40:52]to him and they were chasing him they were coming after yahya

[40:57]they were coming after zakariah because shaytan had spread a rumor amongst

[41:03]the israelites that yahya is the father of isa alaihi that zakariah

[41:09]is the father of isa meaning that there was a legitimate relationship

[41:13]between zakaria and mariam so they came they chased zakaria he went

[41:19]into a tree and he was killed while he was in the

[41:24]tree they killed him through with the axe they cut the tree

[41:27]while zakaria was in the tree these are the prophets of allah

[41:32]these are the prophets of allah and this is what they went

[41:35]through all the troubles and the struggles that they went through for

[41:39]the sake of religion for the sake of the guidance and the

[41:42]hidayah we ask allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to allow us to be

[41:47]following them and follow the prophets of allah in their footsteps
