This clip also examines Imam Ali’s (a) description of the pious:
- As for the night, they are standing in the mehrab reciting parts of the Quran in tartil—reciting in a correct way. They try to understand it, and if they pass by a verse that encourages them to do good, they look forward to doing that good and it’s as if they see heaven before their eyes. And if they pass by a verse that has a warning, they carefully listen to it and it’s as if they can hear hear the roars of Hell-fire ringing in their ears.
