[3:57]tragic moments in the history of the religion of islam although one

[4:00]may argue well executed by abu bakr and omar and did you

[4:05]find that the incident of sarifa is an incident whose repercussions continue

[4:11]to affect the muslim community all the way until karbala because the

[4:16]aim of our discussions is to look at the events who from

[4:20]them one could see that there was an effect on the mindset

[4:23]in the lead up to the mighty martyrdom of imam al-hussein [Music]

[4:27]when one looks at zatifah in the eyes of many muslims sakrifa

[4:32]is where abu bakr was appointed as the first khalifa if you

[4:36]ask millions of muslims around the world today how was abu bakr

[4:41]appointed you'll find a couple of different answers one group actually believe

[4:45]that the prophet peace be upon him and his family was the

[4:49]one who told the whole community that after me the khalifa will

[4:53]be abu bakr but you'll find that the majority on the other

[4:56]hand say that when the prophet peace be upon him and his

[5:00]family passed away he left it for the muslim community to choose

[5:03]when the muslim community all of them gathered together and when they

[5:08]all gathered together they decided in their thousands in the election known

[5:14]as the election of sacrifice that this man is the greatest man

[5:21]after rasulullah that this man is the man that we should all

[5:24]follow that there is nobody who is like this man and that

[5:29]the likes of omar and others straight away pledge their allegiance to

[5:32]him and that all the companions were in unison and unanimously agreed

[5:38]on the khilafah of abu bakr this is the opinion of the

[5:43]majority of the muslims in the world today however when one scrutinizes

[5:48]what exactly took place then it's unbelievable what a mess islam according

[5:54]to this particular incident was in because if you were to go

[5:59]into depth as to what took place at zarifa shortly after the

[6:03]prophet peace be upon him and his family died those who were

[6:05]meant to be his helpers from the ansar and those who had

[6:11]migrated with him known as the muhajiroun were in skirmishes with one

[6:15]another were fighting one another were shouting at one another as an

[6:19]honestly a non-muslim if they were to look at what happened at

[6:21]sativa they would turn around to each and every one of us

[6:24]and say it looks like your prophet didn't do the best job

[6:28]in the world because there seems to be a mess not only

[6:30]in terms of authority after he dies but also in terms of

[6:36]conduct okay put authority aside why is it that these grown men

[6:41]are suddenly fighting each other while the man himself is being buried

[6:44]at the very least even a person who has never come near

[6:49]revelation in their life would straight away turn around and say that

[6:52]at a funeral or near a funeral or when a big figure

[6:58]passes away there is a certain amount of conduct etiquette to be

[7:01]expected even if you weren't very close to the person people would

[7:05]expect you to honor that person in a certain way others reply

[7:09]back to this by saying that the important issue of leadership had

[7:13]to be solved the irony of such a statement of course is

[7:17]that the companions knew the issue of leadership needed to be sold

[7:21]but the man who bought the religion himself didn't know the companions

[7:24]knew that it was important for them to appoint a leader from

[7:28]amongst them whereas the man who came to guide not just islam

[7:32]muslims arabs not the whole of mankind left the world without appointing

[7:39]a leader therefore when people ask me what's the difference between shia

[7:44]and sunni common question which everybody asks the main difference rests on

[7:48]this issue a man like the prophet muhammad peace be upon him

[7:51]and his family does he leave the world in a mess in

[7:56]the hands of those who 23 years earlier were burying their daughters

[7:59]alive and were worshiping that which is made out of wood and

[8:03]that which is made out of stone or does he make it

[8:07]clear before he dies that this is the best of men to

[8:12]guide you after me pretty simple issue a man who wouldn't leave

[8:15]his house without appointing a leader wouldn't leave medina without appointing a

[8:20]governor wouldn't leave mecca without ensuring someone was there how could the

[8:26]same man be a man who leaves this world without leaving a

[8:30]leader but further than that and what's scarier than that is in

[8:35]our last two nights we've seen omar ibn al-khattab's blatant attack on

[8:39]the holy prophet peace be upon him his family when he asked

[8:43]for a pen and paper and um stand in saying the quran

[8:50]sufficient for us and then after that abu bakr and omar refusing

[8:53]to be under the leadership of osama it means that in the

[9:00]last week of the life of the holy prophet the two most

[9:02]famous personalities one may argue not just in the non-shia world one

[9:09]may argue even in the muslim world were themselves openly rejecting if

[9:15]not standing against the wishes of the prophet if they could do

[9:18]that while he was alive what would stop them doing that after

[9:22]he's died therefore when we look at this issue this is not

[9:28]an issue for us to cause sectarianism between each other because there

[9:31]are some people whenever they look at an issue about early islamic

[9:35]history you'll find them straight away saying that why is it that

[9:40]we raise these issues why don't we bring unity between the ummah

[9:44]of rasulallah why is that we cannot come together as muslims if

[9:49]that's the case then we should scrap all our discussions of history

[9:54]and all honesty at the end of the quran as the book

[9:56]tells me to study prophets who came thousands of years before the

[10:00]holy prophet someone might say what happened at sativa was a thousand

[10:04]years ago how does that affect me today well what happened to

[10:06]adam and eve was thousands of years before the prophet had revealed

[10:10]the quran so why were we discussing adam and eve's creation then

[10:12]we should have just discussed contemporary meccan contemporary medina the aim of

[10:20]these discussions is as the quran says they came before you trends

[10:24]in history so study them travel on the earth look at what's

[10:29]happened look at what's happened to those who came before you therefore

[10:33]when we examine sacrifice our aim is to understand the difference between

[10:39]those who held on to the one appointed by allah and announced

[10:44]by the prophet and those who decided to take things into their

[10:48]own hands from the moment the prophet asked for a pen and

[10:53]paper until satifa and the way they went about it let's tonight

[10:56]examine in depth what took place in this incident known as sativa

[11:02]and i'd like to do this in the following stages number one

[11:04]did the prophet peace be upon him family give imam ali any

[11:09]hints that this is what they're gonna do he has given everyone

[11:12]else knowledge of the future why wouldn't he give it to imam

[11:15]ali number two when the prophet peace be upon him his family

[11:18]died who is the one who led his funeral prayer who's the

[11:22]one who buried him who was the one to have him in

[11:25]his lap when he died number three what made abu bakr leave

[11:28]the house of the prophet when the prophet had died what triggered

[11:33]umar to tell him quickly leave something's happening now for if imam

[11:40]ali was chosen at rader then why are the ansar holding an

[11:42]election for a leader amongst themselves why would they go against what

[11:48]the prophet has already said number five abu bakr gives a famous

[11:52]speech about why the muhajiroun have a greater claim to be leaders

[11:57]than the ansar but why doesn't he quote any hadith about him

[12:01]being the leader of the muslims surely that would have been a

[12:06]lot stronger for him number six did everyone come and pledge allegiance

[12:09]to him or were there companions who said no chance and if

[12:12]they said no chance can they be counted as faster and if

[12:16]they counted this faster what does that say about all the great

[12:19]rather allah further than that where was imam if his leadership was

[12:30]taken then where's the power of at this moment and how does

[12:34]imam ali alayhi islam highlighted the pain that he faced in seeing

[12:39]what took place number eight how does sahih muslim highlight imam ali's

[12:46]opinion of abu bakr and how does umar say that oh ali

[12:51]the following four is what you believe abu bakr is and therefore

[12:55]is that a shiite opinion or does it originate with ali before

[12:59]his own shia and finally if abu bakr could be a leader

[13:05]because of a number of friends who elect him what stops others

[13:09]coming one day and saying what's wrong with my dad choosing me

[13:12]if others could choose for themselves and how does yazid use this

[13:18]to his advantage and not only becoming khalifa but appointing whoever he

[13:22]pleases the way they appointed at sativa let's examine this and dissect

[13:27]the topic in depth had a certain amount of knowledge of the

[13:31]unseen he knows about certain events that will happen in history he

[13:37]warns certain people about things that will happen in the future did

[13:40]he warn imam al-islam about all this because this is a question

[13:45]that has to be asked did he warn imam ali that there'll

[13:52]who'll come and take his leadership away from him who will come

[13:55]in a certain place while he's next to the prophet of course

[13:58]he warned him and one hadith he says to him while imam

[14:01]ali sees him crying he says what is it that makes you

[14:08]cry he says that they have a hate for you hidden after

[14:10]i die all of it will come out imagine that there was

[14:15]already a hatred against imam ali alayhi that causes the prophet to

[14:21]cry sometimes in our mosques you hear people saying we should just

[14:23]go to lectures listen to the lecture and go home there's no

[14:27]need to cry cry all these guys doing muharram is cry and

[14:29]suffer all they do is cry my prophet cried about messiah that

[14:34]hadn't even occurred before imam ali alayhi salam had gone through his

[14:38]music he asked the prophet and the prophet says because they've got

[14:41]hate against you inside when we saw that hate for what reason

[14:47]on the one hand there's the hate of him killing their fathers

[14:49]whether we like it or we don't if you've killed this person's

[14:54]dad and better and his uncle at ahad and his cousin at

[14:58]heiber and and his cousin one day those guys are gonna come

[15:01]back with a certain amount of venom even if they've converted to

[15:06]the religion of islam they're still gonna be a certain amount of

[15:08]animosity within them where they're gonna be like you know what not

[15:11]always you number two the fact that he got fatama and everybody

[15:14]else got a blatant rejection that hurts i've come to propose for

[15:21]fatima and you're saying no no no and only ali is the

[15:23]one who gets fatah ali is to me like aaron was to

[15:29]moses which companion was compared to a prophet of allah subhanahu wa

[15:32]ali is the next of rasulullah on the day of but more

[15:39]importantly where when surah 9 was being revealed the only surah which

[15:43]does not have bismillah when it was being revealed the prophet sent

[15:50]abu bakr towards the quraish so that he reveals the surah to

[15:56]them when abu bakr was on the way jibril comes to the

[15:59]prophet says only you or someone from you can reveal this to

[16:04]them the prophets at this moment sends imam ali alaihissalam abu bakr

[16:07]when he had gone towards the quraysh of course found this as

[16:10]an honor that i'm the one who tells them about surat who

[16:15]was with abu bakr um was with him the mawlana the same

[16:23]big names that come at satisfa are all heading towards the quraish

[16:30]the prophet either you tell them about surah or someone from you

[16:34]the prophet says stops them on the way and says i have

[16:38]to take it which by the way in our narrations what do

[16:42]we find that some of them say don't give it to ali

[16:44]but abu bakr says okay you go ahead from there there was

[16:51]already and hate there was already a problem with imam ali alaihissalam

[16:55]taking this accolade how many accolades imam ali has one after the

[17:00]other there was a certain amount of envy that existed between these

[17:05]personalities and others you know our non-shia brothers what do they say

[17:12]they say had an issue with each other with each other i

[17:19]don't care whether i believe you or i don't believe you there's

[17:21]a central point for me what is the central point that the

[17:26]companions already had a hate for alibi if you could have a

[17:30]hate for ali while rasulullah is alive god save him after rasulullah

[17:35]dies while rasulullah is alive there is already a great amount of

[17:41]jealousy envy towards amir al-mu'mineen then let alone after rasulullah dies especially

[17:45]rasool dies in his lap even though this accolade they wanted to

[17:49]give it to hayesha that she says he was on my lap

[17:51]when he passed away on the contrary imam ali number one says

[17:56]that the prophet was on my lap others such as wives of

[18:00]the prophet companions of the prophet say he was on the lap

[18:05]of rasulallah he died who is the one who executed the will

[18:08]of rasulallah who is the one who buried uh rasulallah because you

[18:16]know madina had two grave diggers was the only one available on

[18:25]that day imam ali made sure he saw the lowering of the

[18:29]jannah of rasulallah he saw that everything went smoothly was the one

[18:35]who made sure that the prophet was buried he was the one

[18:41]who led the funeral prayers of rasulullah there are many who are

[18:44]older than him and there are many who said he shouldn't be

[18:46]leader because imam ali is too young because imam ali on that

[18:51]day how old was he when the prophet died 33 years of

[18:55]age which by the way islamically is very old because when you

[18:57]have a prophet who can speak from the cradle at 33 you're

[18:59]already quite mature so what happened was that imam ali led the

[19:06]funeral prayers of rasulallah he had alongside him people coming in and

[19:08]out and i know sometimes in shiite circles there's this impression that

[19:14]abu bakr and omar did not attend the funeral of the problem

[19:15]no they did attend the funeral of the prophet to say that

[19:19]they didn't attend medina there's not some city which is like 85

[19:22]000 million miles wide everything that's happening in medina is happening in

[19:26]a certain location as and if you go to medina you'll see

[19:29]for example measured in nabawi and then from missionary and that's the

[19:33]whole of the downtown let's say and you don't really have to

[19:36]go too far unless you're going towards ahud and so on and

[19:39]so forth these people who are coming in and out imam ali

[19:42]in some cases according to our traditions he would be leading the

[19:46]prayer there'd be people in a circle of 10 facing the grave

[19:50]and they would for example follow imam imam would resign and so

[19:56]on and so forth so everything was done by imam ali imam

[20:01]made sure that the greatest man on earth got the funeral and

[20:06]the respect that he deserved nobody else was asked to lead the

[20:10]funeral prayers of rasulullah except which i think you'd all agree pretty

[20:14]much puts him in pole position if we never knew about gadir

[20:18]i didn't know about ghadir and i see that this is the

[20:19]man leading salah i would say it puts him in poor position

[20:24]but for us was clear and for rashiya the envy because of

[20:28]hadir was clear for us my prophet who moves from here till

[20:35]there he makes sure there's a leader who represents him so that

[20:40]there isn't chaos in society my prophet on that day in rhadeer

[20:45]made it clear mankind allah be a guardian to whoever takes him

[20:52]as a guardian but be an enemy to whoever takes him as

[20:55]an enemy huge line because if everybody loves him then there's no

[21:00]need for that line it's very interesting that the word mola if

[21:03]it applies to ali it means friend but if it applies to

[21:07]abu bakr it means khalifa if it's abu bakr ali means friend

[21:13]only notice that in hadith literature so anyway so what happens is

[21:17]that imam ali looks after everything imam ali knows that i'm already

[21:22]imam i'm already the one who is chosen by allah subhanahu wa

[21:25]ta'ala abu bakr is in the house of the prophet remember abu

[21:28]bakr is the father his daughter is married to the prophet and

[21:33]has a claim of inheritance one eighth goes to the widow an

[21:38]islamic law unless of course you share it with the other nine

[21:40]then you get one out of 72 and you're on a major

[21:45]headache but let's say one eighth goes towards the widow what then

[21:48]happens what's taking place omar comes to the prophet now one of

[21:53]the best references i have read in explaining sake is al-kamil okay

[21:59]try and get hold of it and read what happens at zakifa

[22:02]what happens is that omar comes sends a message to abu bakr

[22:06]quickly come abu bakr is like but i'm here he says quickly

[22:11]come the ansar who have gathered the people of medina have gathered

[22:17]where at the sacrifice like a portugal of banisada who are of

[22:21]the khasraj a place they used to gather they've all gathered there

[22:26]and they've decided amongst them for a leader by the name of

[22:29]sad bin that the ansar are unanimous that this leaders there abu

[22:35]bakr doesn't flinch straight away with omar with abu hadefa ma no

[22:56]nobody's going to sacrifice except these you've got the ansar and you've

[23:01]got this trio of muharram i could name you another few of

[23:05]the muhajiron they've all headed where they've all headed towards the when

[23:10]they've got to the sacrificing question if imam ali is chosen why

[23:15]the ansar choosing a leader amongst themselves firstly the ansar on the

[23:21]one hand they can choose a leader for them in their area

[23:23]even mohammed ali becomes imam of the whole community why can't i

[23:27]have a mayor for my area for example or a local councillor

[23:29]secondly maybe the ansar knew these guys who when a man tells

[23:34]them give me a pen and paper say you're delirious you think

[23:35]they're going to let ali become a leader let's get our leadership

[23:38]in quickly they're not even going to look after ali we should

[23:43]look after ourselves from now we should have our own leader a

[23:49]few days earlier the prophet tells them go with osama and they

[23:51]say you make us go under an eighteen-year-old how are they gonna

[23:54]let this 33 year old become their leader let's take a leader

[23:59]from amongst ourselves did all of them therefore reject imam ali no

[24:03]no if you read the hadiths you will find that they speak

[24:08]out for imam ali why when they get there the ansar said

[24:11]that we have a leader who we have chosen sadmin by the

[24:15]way this sabbath is counted as one of the companions of rasulallah

[24:19]never ever in his life gave bay'a to abu bakr ahmad never

[24:23]never on that day in sacrifice that i will not give him

[24:27]a question if he doesn't give baya to someone chosen by the

[24:29]prophet or by allah then he must be a faster but if

[24:32]he's a facet that means you have a companion of the prophet

[24:34]whose countenance of assad but all the companions cannot be counted as

[24:38]so what do we do was chosen to be what was chosen

[24:46]to be the leader of the ansar an ansar had a particular

[24:48]policy would they say an emir from us and an emir from

[24:52]you okay no problem you want you've come here in this gathering

[24:57]why don't we have an emir from our self and you have

[24:59]an emir from you a leader from yourselves and a leader from

[25:02]us abu bakr begins his speech at sacrifice and when he begins

[25:09]his speech he begins by mentioning why the muhajiroun have a greater

[25:14]right to be leaders than the ansar in this whole sermon realize

[25:21]one thing never once does he say that i am the man

[25:26]appointed by rasulullah if he once said it that i am the

[25:34]one chosen on the day of gadir i am the one chosen

[25:36]on the day of mubarak i am the one chosen on the

[25:42]day of i am the one if he says it once he

[25:44]would be in pole position because then it's a problem for someone

[25:47]if the prophet has chosen you and you go against him do

[25:50]you agree imam ali on a number of times and i've referenced

[25:53]this in my mentalist throughout many of you can access it on

[26:41]if the prophet raised his hand and said man kunta mawlana fahada

[26:44]abu bakr if he said that then i can't do anything i'm

[26:48]gonna have to follow him yes although i would probably have to

[26:52]use their excuse or friend and just say it's just friendship what

[26:55]it means but abu bakr what does he do he says in

[26:57]the name of god and then he begins to praise allah and

[27:02]then he says o people the arabs were people who were in

[27:07]the state of jahiliyyah they were worshiping that which was made out

[27:10]of word and that which was made after stone and allah sent

[27:12]them the holy prophet peace be upon him his family and the

[27:16]holy prophet was a witness of allah's truth and the holy prophet

[27:18]he went through trials and tribulations and allah chose us the ones

[27:25]who look after this prophet and stand with him through every trial

[27:30]and we stood with him in every tribulation and we are the

[27:32]closest to him and we are the ones who believed in him

[27:36]when others did not believe in him we were the ones chosen

[27:37]to be there in all his times of difficulty opposing us is

[27:43]oppression you the ansar are good people and you are the ones

[27:46]who welcome the prophet peace be upon him and his family when

[27:50]he came to medina for that you should deserve your respect but

[27:53]we deserve more respect because we are closer to the prophet peace

[27:56]be upon him his family and we went through all the trials

[28:01]and the pain and the tribulations and the battles with the holy

[28:04]prophet peace be upon him and his family he says all of

[28:09]this turn around to the answer he says hold your guns don't

[28:13]listen to him hold on say to him an emir from you

[28:18]in why should we take what he says we stick to a

[28:20]leader from ourselves which shows in the muslim community the idea of

[28:26]abu bakr being as great as he is made out to be

[28:28]amongst the ansar they look at him and they're like why should

[28:31]we follow what you're saying who are you for us to follow

[28:33]what you're saying for what reason if you have an accolade in

[28:38]islamic history what would it be either he's the father-in-law of the

[28:40]prophet or he was with the prophet in the cave according to

[28:43]hadith and thank god for hadith if we stick to umar's words

[28:46]the quran is enough for us then abu bakr has no praise

[28:49]but hadith puts him into the quran and the verse of the

[28:54]cave why should we follow you said why hold your guns hold

[28:59]your horses stay here we choose we're not going to go with

[29:04]him abu bakr turned around and said listen the umara are from

[29:08]us and the wazara are from you leaders from the muhajiron and

[29:12]the wazara what shall we say was that can be in english

[29:16]the representative for example someone who gets a particular position we say

[29:22]that those people are what those will be from the ansar why

[29:27]omar then steps in omar says the reason that abu bakr has

[29:31]to be the leader and you know what we would have been

[29:34]saved with all this headache had we just talked to the man

[29:35]of god here this whole headache who should be leader so why

[29:45]do you think allah subhanahu wa ta'ala appointed imam because he knew

[29:48]if you leave it for mankind to choose from amongst each other

[29:52]you choose not who's best who suits you our mosques now in

[29:57]the muslim world is it who's best fit to lead or who

[30:02]suits my interest and my opinions the one who is best fit

[30:05]to lead because he might be too just we won't choose him

[30:07]she's the one who's an old family friend old link not because

[30:10]i think he's better than anyone true so therefore when we look

[30:16]at this it would have been all saved the prophet said listen

[30:20]i am the city knowledge this man's the gate it's as simple

[30:24]as that what's a khalifa god's wrap on earth who has more

[30:26]knowledge than everybody and the people therefore have to obey him and

[30:30]follow him so then omar says you must follow him why because

[30:34]they will never accept that the leader after the prophet is someone

[30:39]who is not from the tribe of the prophet he has to

[30:44]be from the tribal prophet i don't know if you're noticing something

[30:46]in this whole sermon every point that they mention literally takes one

[30:52]man but instead of giving it to that man as allah subhanahu

[30:55]wa ta'ala did it was like well why is it not us

[30:58]the people will not accept you go to ansar on sarah who

[31:03]they're not the same as us who are related to the benihashim

[31:09]so why not go for benihashim themselves omar then noticing that there's

[31:15]you know what happens suddenly disagreement and shouting i swear if non-muslims

[31:19]read what happened sake they'll be like my god muhammad certainly left

[31:24]a mess behind his people don't know do we choose him do

[31:29]we choose him and the man still being buried and there's still

[31:34]people visiting his his grave and here we have adsake a major

[31:40]ruckus taking place why did they rush to choose a leader because

[31:45]the muslim ummah cannot be left without a leader know this and

[31:52]my prophet doesn't you're telling me that the ummah is in need

[32:01]of a leader and therefore we had to leave the jennas and

[32:05]everything to make sure leaders appointed you knew this and the man

[32:08]who used to receive emails from heaven doesn't ahmad grabs abu bakr

[32:16]and he says pledge allegiance i pledged that's it he's become leader

[32:19]if that's the way we choose leaders in islam how do i

[32:23]tell non-muslims that by the way this is how we choose a

[32:25]leader he says something he says something they have a little fight

[32:29]this one says i'm not sure and above all else is what

[32:32]where's the electorate people always say to me that there's thousands of

[32:40]companions of the prophets and we must love all of them no

[32:44]problem okay where are they how would the uh ballot votes that

[32:48]day voter turnout what do you think was voter turnout that day

[32:56]some big names not there some big names are not there and

[33:04]that was imam salam's first point to them and the poetry that

[33:09]i quoted at the beginning of the lecture imam salam looked at

[33:15]what they had done because the news reached imam ali salam because

[33:19]the news went around town abu bakr has been chosen as khalifa

[33:33]what's his status if he rejects abu bakr muslim or no if

[33:40]abu bakr is appointed by the prophet or by god and this

[33:45]man rejects him then you have to call him a father and

[33:48]if he is a faster then your companions can't all be going

[33:53]heaven but if this man rejects abu bakr and you say that

[33:55]he is a muslim and can still go to heaven what's your

[34:00]problem with the shia when they reject abu bakr theology we reject

[34:09]abu bakr as khalifah this is well known there's no need to

[34:13]hide such a thing is it this is our narrative and other

[34:15]schools in islam have their narrative there's no problem everybody has their

[34:18]narrative when i reject him why you call me raphael proudly when

[34:25]salman and abu dharr reject him call them jackson call him when

[34:34]once rejects him call him rafali call them rawathills go on call

[34:39]the companions of the prophet but you don't you don't is it

[34:46]a crime if they rejected abu bakr if it is that means

[34:50]you've got to imam not just us you say that we made

[34:53]up a thing called imam and that's our imam zamasu hold on

[34:58]if someone rejects abu bakr khalifa you said that us people are

[35:01]kuffar if not let's say they don't do take fear but they

[35:05]say that we are a waffle and so on and so forth

[35:08]imam ali in his poetry what does he say if it is

[35:17]in consultation and sure that you decided their affairs fake how is

[35:25]that when the electorate are not present in that surah if we

[35:30]decided we're gonna have an election at least let them be present

[35:33]because the ansar what did they say to him people started shouting

[35:42]imam ali's what did they have they had enough personalities who were

[35:51]able to ensure that their hate of ali brought in others who

[35:57]hated ali that you decide government affairs how is that the case

[36:14]when the electorate are not even present where are they they're absent

[36:18]we're in contact now listen to this line we're in kunta bill

[36:23]corbett foreign there are others who are much closer in relation to

[36:39]the prophet than you because your whole speech was based on which

[36:42]things we are the closest to rasulullah we are the ones who

[36:47]went through the trials of rasulallah point a you're the closest you're

[36:51]not your father-in-law this one's first cousin no way you're closest if

[36:57]it's about auraba ali is closer than you will ever be if

[37:01]it's about trials with rasulullah by trials those who went through the

[37:12]most pain and anguish with him in the shame of abu talib

[37:18]where were you for three years when the prophet and khadija saw

[37:23]pain where were you forget that and the front lines are better

[37:29]i never saw you at uh some of you are amongst the

[37:35]list of those who ran and the quran revealed verses it was

[37:39]you against amrapna with that day or it was a verses made

[37:46]a mockery of all of you until you ran and ran and

[37:55]the holy prophets alone ali is the one there trials islam died

[38:00]many times were it not for the sword of allah this religion

[38:05]would have died many times with trial amrap and you were one-on-one

[38:12]marhaban you were one-on-one the prophet had better was it you who

[38:16]went out with hans at the beginning always at the back never

[38:24]at the front so which trials are you telling the ansar that

[38:28]you're saying to them i should be the leader because we the

[38:32]went through trial muhammad went through nine ammar banyaser went to crazy

[38:37]trials he saw his mum sumaiyah and his father yasir killed in

[38:39]front of him he should be khalifah that's a muhajir and that's

[38:45]someone who should be khalifah the amount of trials that ammar saw

[38:50]in his life but nobody saw more trials in their life with

[38:55]the holy prophet like imam ali ahmad no it looks at all

[38:59]of them you you're telling me that you believe the man tells

[39:01]you if you die you go to jannah so fight me if

[39:04]i kill you you go to his heaven and if you kill

[39:08]me you go to his heaven so why are you all hiding

[39:10]islam was made a fool of that day until the prophet said

[39:15]the whole of iman has come out to fight the whole of

[39:19]kufor and imam ali came out that day and his one strike

[39:21]was greater than the strike of every human and jin until the

[39:24]day of judgment that's trial with an infected eye one eye of

[39:33]ali was worth more than you're for all of these lines and

[39:40]you tell them that you should be the leader imam turns around

[39:44]and says it is an ashore that you said that you go

[39:52]rule government affairs election who's there from the election in the mosque

[39:56]we have elections there's a good turnout he goes what's the turnout

[40:02]99 and then we tell everybody what's happened and if it's in

[40:06]your nearness to the holy prophet peace be upon his family therefore

[40:09]who is nearer to the prophet than i am and that's why

[40:15]you found that imam people say why did imam ali not do

[40:17]anything no when the people came to imam ali and said this

[40:20]happened he said very well what do you want to do they

[40:24]said we should fight these people who have taken your right the

[40:26]right given to you by the holy prophet peace be upon his

[40:30]family what imam ali replied he said very well then come tomorrow

[40:32]morning with your head shaved will fight it's all talk let's walk

[40:41]the walk the next morning only four or five turn up from

[40:44]those 300 amongst them salman and abu dharr shaved heads completely and

[40:49]imam ali said and the narrations differ if we had 30 if

[40:53]we had 40 we would have fought the reality was there was

[40:58]only a few who remained loyal to amir al-mu'min they were joined

[41:03]by others as well who became more outspoken abu where's everybody who's

[41:18]meant to see you and why don't you use the hadith about

[41:20]the prophet appointing you just one hadith just use the hadith and

[41:24]say it to everybody that on that day the prophet said i

[41:27]was your leader because if you had used it even when umar

[41:30]became khalifa had a problem with umar becoming appointed by abu bakr

[41:35]which raises another question how comes abu bakr can appoint a khalifa

[41:38]but rasulullah cannot how you can appoint a leader and rasulullah cannot

[41:48]appoint a leader i talk to every person out there who has

[41:51]a conscience and has intellect i don't discuss these things so that

[41:59]we just look at a period of history or because we want

[42:02]differences open your minds open your hearts further than that because sometimes

[42:09]people say imam ali had no issue i saw a video today

[42:14]which was amazing a video where somebody said and you know these

[42:18]clips that they send i've been a victim of myself you can

[42:20]set a two-minute clip and you don't know the context of what's

[42:21]being said i saw a video where it was like the person

[42:25]was saying well because our people don't know anything about these leaders

[42:28]that's why they get worried about them no no no we know

[42:32]quite a bit that's the problem i wish ignorance was bliss but

[42:37]sometimes ignorance is iblees not bliss and even person needs to know

[42:39]the reality is sermon 3 dressed himself with the caliphate dressed himself

[42:54]with the caliphate meaning he appointed himself and he knew my relationship

[43:00]to it was like the relationship of the axis in relation to

[43:02]the windmill and then later in that sermon and many of you

[43:06]will have heard my imagination yeah later in that sermon imam ali

[43:11]al-islam talks about i saw the plundering of my inheritance in front

[43:14]of me what do i do do i remain patient or do

[43:21]i attack there was a pain in the eye and a suffocation

[43:27]in my throat i had to endure the darkness of tribulations wherein

[43:34]grown men become feeble and the young grow old and those who

[43:38]worship allah under strain until they meet him all these lines imam

[43:45]islam makes it clear even abu sufyan told them listen i've heard

[43:47]they've taken your leadership i've got soldiers ready for you no you

[43:51]abuse you when you come nearly the ship that's the end of

[43:58]the religion of islam abu sufyan told him i'll give you what

[44:01]you want imam ali islam became like what you know when those

[44:05]ladies came to nabi sulaiman with one baby and one lady said

[44:10]that's my kid and the other said that's my kid and never

[44:12]sulayman said what he said then what i'll do is i'll cut

[44:15]the baby in half i'll give half to you one of them

[44:16]said no no no it's her kid never said that must be

[44:20]yours she said no i said it says so no it must

[44:22]be yours because our mother cannot bear to see her child cut

[44:24]in half likewise imam ali alayhi salaam couldn't bear to see this

[44:27]religion cut in half he knew that abu sufyan wanted to go

[44:33]in for the kill and so imam ali says there was a

[44:37]pain in my eye you see if a small hair goes in

[44:40]our eyes how many times you go to the bathroom hot water

[44:43]then your cousin says warm water then someone says throw this into

[44:45]your eye baba just tell me how do i get that hair

[44:48]out of my eye each of you is giving me an experiment

[44:49]for science i just want to hear as small here imam ali

[44:56]says that's pain in my eye suffocation in my throat but when

[45:03]he saw this happen question arises what did he think of those

[45:07]who did it i said to you the sermon of shakhshakiya he

[45:10]blatantly says what he thinks of them but there's an amazing hadith

[45:16]inside a muslim you have to look at this hadith it's unbelievable

[45:27]it's it's it's actually it's crazy this hadith is just unreal now

[45:39]we're talking bukhari and muslim are famous texts sahih muslim muslims the

[45:47]famous persian scholar he wrote the book sahih muslim compared muslim and

[45:52]sahih muslim i want everybody at home to look at this incident

[45:56]abbas the uncle of the prophet imam ali go with imam ali

[46:02]to umar abbas is claiming inheritance from imam ali imam ali is

[46:10]claiming inheritance for who the prophet's daughter where will you find this

[46:16]sahih muslim everybody at home everyone around the shia world every non

[46:19]shia whoever you are i'm going to give you the exact reference

[46:22]for this sahih muslim and it's in the section of al-jihad was

[46:35]here in the door you know that sometimes there's these subsections bob

[46:48]jihad the section of jihad and the expeditions the battles the discussion

[47:00]of the allowances expenses what is to be given from what's booty

[47:11]of war we agree abbas has a claim against imam ali for

[47:17]inheritance imam ali has a claim from they've both next to omar

[47:25]and omar looks at omar looks at imam ali and he says

[47:31]having omar already said that abu bakr said the prophets don't leave

[47:38]behind inheritance omar said the prophet abu bakr says that the prophet

[47:44]said that we don't leave behind inheritance and then ahmad looks at

[47:50]imam ali and says and i know your opinion of him this

[47:55]is in sahih muslim and i know that your opinion of him

[47:59]meaning abu bakr meaning the one who says prophets don't leave behind

[48:03]inheritance fedex doesn't belong to fatima is that you believe that he

[48:11]is a kadeb and you believe he is a liar he is

[48:21]that deceiver cunning sinner is this a book not sure it's and

[48:40]your opinion of the first khalifa is that and i everybody at

[48:46]home can go and read this because sometimes people might say to

[48:50]me that you shiat this you see other companions loved each other

[48:53]then why is umar admitting that imam ali's opinion of the first

[48:56]khalifa was that he was a lying cunning deceiving and it's not

[49:02]my words just in case someone might take this and say that

[49:05]this is your words this is sahih muslim and the section of

[49:10]jihad was go tonight i want everybody to read it says and

[49:16]your opinion of him is that he is a lying deceiving cunning

[49:21]sinner when imam ali says all of this then if i am

[49:28]somebody who is accused of having problems then you've got to explain

[49:31]to me how muslim allows for this discussion muslim then believes that

[49:35]imam this is what he believed of those who took the helm

[49:43]at sacrefa that what you did at sacrifice to me proves lie

[49:48]sin cunning deceit therefore anyone who now comes and says but you

[49:55]know our imam never had a problem with anybody so how do

[49:58]you explain that hadith not even in my books if it was

[50:01]in my books i said okay you're biased in sahih muslim omar

[50:06]says to him because of abu bakr's opinion on this this is

[50:08]what the way you view him as knew very well that's what

[50:20]took place at sarifa would have repercussions what's the repercussions let's be

[50:25]real radir ultimately the results of ghadir only bought muhammad al-baqara and

[50:46]jaffa alibna musa ali al-hadi for one day bought me azit this

[50:53]is a huge point what sarifa did is allowed anyone to have

[50:58]a chance to be president of the states as president of medina

[51:05]presence of mecca all you needed to do was have the right

[51:07]backing the right men loyal the chance you could get in and

[51:14]that's why what's happened at zakifa the repercussions were what why can

[51:19]muawiyah not appoint yazid if abu bakr could appoint omar if abu

[51:24]bakr has the authority to point the peace after him why could

[51:28]muawiyah not appoint yazid and that's why when yazid came in yes

[51:30]you can easily turn around and say after muhammad died all of

[51:33]you went to election there wasn't many people present therefore when my

[51:36]dad chose me there weren't many present here i am what's the

[51:42]difference between me and you why are you rightly guided and i'm

[51:48]not what's the criteria to be a successor why don't i fit

[51:51]into that bill and who sets the criteria for who's the successor

[51:56]if it's sativa that sets the criteria a new one has a

[52:00]chance abdul malik has a chance rasheed [Applause] everybody had a chance

[52:08]to be a leader because of satifa all you needed was the

[52:11]right best friend the right companion the right backers and enough hate

[52:17]of ali and that's what happened only 50 years after the prophet

[52:25]died yes he'd sat in the chair of rasulullah because the muslims

[52:29]said we should choose our leaders we should appoint and don't say

[52:33]yazid was chosen by his father and therefore it's wrong omar was

[52:39]chosen by abu bakr yes he can turn around say the same

[52:40]way you chose your friend why can my dad not choose me

[52:43]and if you felt your friend was suitable according to your logic

[52:48]why can't my dad think that i'm the most because you know

[52:50]there is an argument why is he suitable because his dad had

[52:54]brought him up in a way of leader and empire so he

[52:57]was the best of all because now it became wishy-washy what leader

[53:00]is you don't have to be the most knowledgeable or the most

[53:03]you just had to be a diplomat par excellence who was able

[53:08]to talk to romans and able to bring about extravagance and that's

[53:12]what islamic leadership became and you know what the problem then results

[53:15]with that is that you can appoint whatever governor you want you

[53:18]want to appoint a drunk as a governor you can you want

[53:21]to appoint a bastard as a governor a person who is the

[53:24]son of zinna as a governor you can you want to appoint

[53:28]somebody who has nothing to do with islam you can and that's

[53:33]why he didn't care when he made marwan governor of medina who's

[53:36]going to stop me even if muhammad kicked him out here he

[53:41]is he's my governor sakifa opens the door for people like me

[53:44]to do what i want to do and that's why he began

[53:50]to appoint governor after governor saying that now i'm your leader the

[53:55]same way they could do what they want i'll do what i

[53:57]want as well the same way they could go against muhammad's orders

[54:01]what makes me have to go with hussein's orders and that's why

[54:07]who does he appoint here marwan he appoints but most crucially who

[54:16]else did he appoint a way to live in seattle because now

[54:18]all of a sudden these are back in power and all of

[54:22]a sudden they begin to bring their governors and the problem is

[54:24]when you bring the likes of ibn siad they don't care who

[54:29]gets in their way the principles of taqwa gone class gone today

[54:34]on gone and if it means that we have to be head

[54:36]we behead whoever gets in our way and if it means we

[54:40]have to roll their body in the streets of kufa then let

[54:44]their bodies go in the streets of kufa and if we have

[54:46]to chain up woman then chain up woman how did we reach

[54:49]a stage 50 years after the prophet died that his family were

[54:52]chained up in the streets of khufa it's because we opened the

[54:57]door for anyone to become khalifa and that's why that chaining up

[55:00]in the streets of khufa was that the first victim no not

[55:05]at all the first victim was weeks months before they were chained

[55:08]in kufa there was already a cousin of imam al-hussein being trampled

[55:12]on in the streets of kofa yes the cousin of imam al-hussein

[55:24]he had gone towards that area but the reality was in going

[55:29]towards that area there were lovers of amir al-mu'min but there was

[55:33]also a governor appointed by a khalifa who felt he had every

[55:37]right to put whoever he wants to put in and what was

[55:42]it was ruthless ibn ziad ensured that whoever was opposing yazid had

[55:48]to be finished had to be executed and that's why muslim in

[55:52]hakeel in one moment sees that there are many lovers of abu-turab

[55:56]in kufa and he sees that this is an opportunity for him

[55:58]to be alongside all of these lovers then all of a sudden

[56:04]one by one they begin to desert him and one by one

[56:09]they begin to leave him until he finds himself a stranger in

[56:13]the land of kufa he finds that now the governor of yazid

[56:16]has all his henchmen around him and in can you imagine that

[56:22]side for muslim that site for muslim where muslim is alone in

[56:30]the streets of kufa and while he is alone in the streets

[56:32]of kufa he begins to think of a couple of things not

[56:37]just his own loneliness he thinks of his wife he thinks of

[56:40]his knees who's with imam al-hussein and likewise at the same time

[56:47]you found that muslim also thought another thought abba abdullah is heading

[56:51]towards here but the governor of yazid is already in pole position

[56:54]here he rested by a house he was sitting there by that

[56:59]house a lady came out of that house by the name of

[57:01]tawa when she came out of that house she saw him she

[57:05]said to him what are you doing here he said to her

[57:08]if i can just have some water that's all i want from

[57:10]you she replied back to my saying very well she went back

[57:15]into the house her daughter was outside the house when her daughter

[57:20]was outside the house her daughter began to speak to him he

[57:23]began to talk back to her the mother came out she saw

[57:28]the daughter sad she saw the daughter feeling disappointed she said to

[57:33]the daughter what did he say to you did he anger you

[57:36]did he say anything against you she said no mother no she

[57:38]said then why are you sad that she said because mother i

[57:42]asked you who are you i asked him who are you he

[57:47]said i am a stranger in kufa mother that broke my heart

[57:49]when i heard it she looked towards him she said to him

[57:52]oh man she said then you're the nephew of my emir imagine

[58:04]that 50 years after there was still the muailin of the emira

[58:09]there were still those who held on to hadir who would never

[58:12]let it go she said to a muslim come inside i'll try

[58:16]and protect you within a few hours the soldiers of ibunziyad had

[58:21]surrounded [Applause] they arrested him after he had fought them one by

[58:40]one they took him to the head of the palace look at

[58:42]what islam had become fifty years after rasool allah fifty years after

[58:46]beheadings had become normal throwing people of palaces that become normal not

[58:52]even giving water to people when they die had become normal ya

[58:58]rasulullah what had happened to your religion 50 years earlier on the

[59:01]day of radhir we were seeing it go in one direction now

[59:04]we see muslim on the floor his head on his side and

[59:12]his body on another just before he died he called out a

[59:16]selam imam at that moment he realized the news had come to

[59:30]him that muslim and aquila's what did imam do how many times

[59:47]does he do this ya allah what type of sabor does abba

[59:53]abdullah have he petted the head of the daughter of muslim hamid

[59:56]looked at her uncle she said to him uncle have i become

[60:04]an orphan he said to her how do you know she said

[60:10]because when you put the head over an orphan when you put

[60:14]the head of an orphan the amount of his that you touch

[60:18]his light for you on the day of judgment imam hussain began

[60:21]to cry he said to a hamidah no one thing my sons

[60:26]are like your brothers and my daughters are like your sisters he

[60:32]embraced hamidah he hugged her all of a sudden something happened that

[60:37]breaks the heart of every lover of karabella what happened what did

[60:50]she say to her she said to her that don't worry we'll

[60:54]be here for you don't worry we'll be here to look after

[60:58]you i asked you one by one when the horse came back

[61:08]to the center on the thames of muhammad [Applause] [Applause] when all

[61:40]of them were chained they walked through kufa when they walked through

[61:43]kufa they were being paraded in front of everybody when they were

[61:49]being paraded the ladies were looking at them they were staring is

[61:52]that saying about that is that's okay that's okay the man chosen

[62:00]all his daughters were being paraded once 50 years later the victims

[62:07]are these ladies yes they were all being paraded one by one

[62:11]then someone asked where's hamid the muslims girl who was it it

[62:20]was she had a message for hamidah she came she saw hamidah

[62:24]the daughter of muslim she came she wanted to embrace her but

[62:29]then the poets say that hamidah looked towards our before you tell

[62:38]me what my father left for me i want to ask you

[62:42]one thing she said what is it when they threw him from

[62:47]the castle did anyone hold his bones as he fell ill raise

[62:58]us there are many in the world who are feeling unwell many

[63:16]who are facing difficulties and trials in their life with their family

[63:20]with their finance in their personal life and their marriages with their

[63:25]health ya allah let's recite all together all of you together with
