[0:00]handshake with anyone.
[0:02]Again, we are socially distancing for inshallah whatever may come.
[0:05]Also, these programs run based on the donations that you guys make.
[0:10]So, if you have any questions, any donations, please see me or
[0:15]brother Amin with with salawat.
[0:15]Please help me welcome the [Music] [Music] Ali Muhammad.
[1:19]Alhamdulillah.
[1:21]Respected brothers and sisters, last night we mentioned that the weapon that
[1:50]the shaitan uses to misguide humanity ity is whispers.
[1:54]He inserts his satanic insinuations inside our minds and our thoughts and
[2:05]he con convinces us to disobey Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[2:09]He convinces us to sin.
[2:14]And this is the only weapon that thean has.
[2:19]He uses chakr.
[2:55]I'm sorry for that distraction.
[2:59]Like I was saying, the we mentioned last night that the weapon
[3:03]the Shayan uses to misguide humanity is whispers.
[3:07]And we said that the shaitan is bold and cunning.
[3:10]He doesn't just use the same method and tactic and strategy to
[3:17]misguide everyone.
[3:17]No, he doesn't have a one-sizefits-all for each one of us.
[3:23]He has a unique custom-designed strategy that works best for me.
[3:28]Because we mentioned what does the shaitan do?
[3:29]The shaitan initially he sits and studies you so that he knows
[3:35]what your weak points are and then he tries to come up
[3:38]with a plan and strategy that can easily exploit your weak spots.
[3:43]Everyone will have different weak spots.
[3:45]Correct?
[3:45]Like I mentioned, some people it's money.
[3:48]They can easily be swayed with money.
[3:50]There are others if you give them millions of dollars you can't
[3:54]sway them you can sway them with other things for example right
[3:58]so the shaitan he searches for those weak spots those weak points
[4:02]and then he devises a strategy that will work against me and
[4:08]there's many weak spots that we have brothers and sisters but there
[4:14]are three common there are three common weak spots that we human
[4:18]beings have and the shaitan focuses on on these weak spots.
[4:21]Almass he speaks about these weak spots that we have.
[4:26]We have to be careful brothers and sisters and not allow the
[4:33]shan to employ and exploit this amongst us.
[4:36]Says he says that there are three factors or three weak spots
[4:44]that we have that may lead to our doom and destruction.
[4:49]The first one I im says arrogance.
[4:52]Arrogance is one of the tactics and methods that thean looks for
[4:58]in order to exploit in order to misguide me.
[5:01]If he finds any arrogance inside me and then the im says
[5:06]what's ironic is the shaitan himself his weak spot was arrogance.
[5:14]his own weak spot that led him to become a devil and
[5:16]a demon was what was arrogance because the shaitan don't look at
[5:21]him as he is now he's a devil he's a demon before
[5:23]Allah created human beings before Allah created Adam the shaitan was a
[5:27]very holy righteous virtuous individual he was so virtuous that Allah subhanahu
[5:33]wa ta'ala he elevated his status and he allowed him to be
[5:38]with the angels now he wasn't an angel he was a jin
[5:41]but he was the only jin out of the millions that Allah
[5:44]has created that reached the level of angels.
[5:47]Allah let him hang around with angels.
[5:49]He would worship all day, all night Allah.
[5:52]So you can see how great and virtuous he was that he
[5:56]was given that status that he can be with the angels all
[6:00]the time.
[5:59]Im Ali says that the shan worshiped Allah for 6,000 years before
[6:07]Adam was created.
[6:07]6,000 years he was in constant state of ibada.
[6:11]So he was very virtuous.
[6:14]But what happened?
[6:14]But all of a sudden Allah created Adam and Allah told the
[6:21]angels and he also instructed Ll.
[6:22]He instructed he instructed the shaitan.
[6:24]He told them to all prostrate the Adam to Adam.
[6:27]It's mentioned in the Quran a couple of times the story.
[6:29]They all prostrated to Adam except the shaitan.
[6:33]He said no.
[6:35]He said I will not prostrate to Adam.
[6:39]So Allah asks him, Allah tells him why did you refrain out
[6:44]of all the angels?
[6:46]You refrained.
[6:48]You said no.
[6:47]They all did the sujud to Adam but you refrained.
[6:51]Why?
[6:51]He gave him the answer.
[6:52]Shan was very honest with Allahh.
[6:57]He didn't make an excuse.
[6:57]He gave him the answer.
[7:01]He told him, "Thean told Allah, I didn't prostrate to Adam because
[7:08]I'm better than him." He exposed himself.
[7:11]He exposed his weak spot, arrogance.
[7:13]I'm better than Adam.
[7:14]Who's this Adam you want me to prostrate to?
[7:16]You created me from fire and you created Adam from clay, from
[7:22]dust, and fire is better than dust.
[7:24]So, because I am better than Adam, I will not prostrate to
[7:27]him.
[7:28]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he saw shaitan being arrogant with him.
[7:32]This is something Allah never tolerates.
[7:33]You want to be arrogant with god and you want to talk
[7:37]back and you want to bring excuses for not following Allahhana ta's
[7:41]commandments.
[7:42]So Allah was angered and first of all he was with the
[7:45]angels.
[7:46]Allah stripped him of the status and then he exiled him from
[7:50]paradise.
[7:58]And not only did Allah banish him, but he condemned him.
[8:03]He condemned him till eternity.
[8:04]He told him, "Tell the day of judgment, my curse and my
[8:10]condem condemnation is upon you." And then Allah, he took away all
[8:14]the reward of the 6,000 years of worship that he did.
[8:17]Im Ali says, "See how destructive arrogance is.
[8:22]one hour, one moment that he was arrogant with Allah, Allah took
[8:27]everything away from him.
[8:30]That position that he had, that he was with the angels and
[8:32]6,000 years worth of of worship.
[8:34]Allah erased all of it because he was arrogant with Allah just
[8:39]once.
[8:40]He did not want to follow the commandments of Allah.
[8:41]What?
[8:42]Because of his arrogance.
[8:43]So the weak spot of the Shayan was arrogant.
[8:45]He wasn't a lazy person.
[8:48]He was always praying to Allah subhana wa tala, always glorifying him.
[8:51]But his weak spot was arrogance.
[8:53]And that's why I im Ali says that the worst thing for
[8:56]the shaitan to see is when someone does sujud when someone does
[9:02]sujud this breaks his heart.
[9:03]This is really so difficult for him.
[9:06]Why?
[9:07]Because when he sees you do sjud this reminds him of his
[9:09]what?
[9:10]Of his weakness of the day that he fell from an angel
[9:14]to a demon.
[9:16]Subhan Allah.
[9:15]In a matter of a minute the shaitan fell from being an
[9:20]angel and he turned into a demon.
[9:22]Why?
[9:22]Because he could not do that sujud to Adam.
[9:26]So every time you do sujud to Allah, he is reminded of
[9:27]that terrible day.
[9:29]You know, if you have a real bad day, you don't never
[9:30]want to remember it.
[9:32]If it's the worst day in your life, correct?
[9:35]If there was a day, for example, you got caught doing something
[9:37]or you fired or kicked out of school or whatever, you don't
[9:40]want anyone to remind you of that day, of that shameful day.
[9:44]Every time we do sujud, the shaitan, he starts panicking.
[9:47]He can't handle it because he's reminded of his weak spot that
[9:55]he could not do one short sujud to Adam.
[9:55]So then im Ali says the Imam says that Allah made an
[10:07]example out of the devil out ofl so that no one becomes
[10:08]arrogant after him.
[10:10]Who can think they can get away with arrogance afterl?
[10:12]Look at what Allah did to him.
[10:14]He was an angel.
[10:16]He was brought down to the level of a demon because of
[10:20]his arrogance.
[10:20]So the imam says this is an example.
[10:21]Learn from the example and be careful of arrogance.
[10:26]It is destructive and it could lead you in the same path
[10:28]that it led the shaitan.
[10:32]And that's why brothers and sisters the shaitan when he saw that
[10:39]because of Adam because of his arrogance he became a demon and
[10:43]he lost everything he was filled with animosity and grudge and hatred
[10:47]towards Adam and that's why he swore by the might of Allah
[10:53]ya Allah because of Adam I became a demon I will go
[10:57]after Adam and his children and his progeny and I will misguide
[11:00]all of them.
[11:02]So the shaitan when he comes to misguide the human beings obviously
[11:06]he knows how destructive arrogance is.
[11:08]So he will use arrogance with us.
[11:10]If there is room for arrogance inside my heart he will try
[11:15]to use that arrogance against me because he knows how destructive it
[11:18]is.
[11:19]Look at the time of sallallam.
[11:21]There were many people of Quraysh that didn't believe in him.
[11:25]Why didn't they believe in him?
[11:27]They waged wars against him.
[11:27]People like Abu Jah.
[11:30]Abu Jahal who was the arch nemesis of Allah and he was
[11:32]the one waging the wars and leading the defamation against Allah.
[11:37]Why didn't he believe in the prophet?
[11:40]Was it because he was not convinced that the prophet is a
[11:43]messenger of God?
[11:45]Was it because there was not enough proof?
[11:47]No, there was proof and he himself knew that the prophet was
[11:50]a messenger of God.
[11:52]You know why he didn't believe?
[11:54]Because of his arrogance.
[11:54]He was a very arrogant man.
[11:56]He was a man all about money and wealth and prestige.
[12:01]And the prophet, Prophet Muhammad, he was born an orphan.
[12:06]His father had died when his mother was pregnant and he was
[12:09]raised by a single mother and then his mother died.
[12:12]He was raised by his grandfather, then his uncle and he wasn't
[12:15]wealthy.
[12:15]So based on Abu Jah's standards, he was a nobody.
[12:17]The prophet is a nobody.
[12:20]Abu Jah is wealthy.
[12:20]He's prominent.
[12:22]He's prestigious.
[12:22]Everyone respects him.
[12:25]So when Allah sent Muhammad as his messenger and Abu Jah saw
[12:29]that now he has to submit to this man who was an
[12:31]orphan who's from a lower class based on his standard.
[12:35]He could not believe I cannot submit to someone like that and
[12:38]he himself admitted it.
[12:41]One day his nephew alnas came and he told Abu Jah, "Oh
[12:44]Abu Jah, do you really believe Muhammad is a liar when you
[12:48]come out?" Because they used to call the prophet a liar and
[12:50]then they called him crazy.
[12:51]They used to make up all these names against him.
[12:53]Do you really believe that he's a liar?
[12:56]Abu Jah because it's private.
[12:57]He told him, "No, Muhammad is a messenger.
[13:00]He's a true messenger of God and I know it because I
[13:05]heard the words of God, the Quran.
[13:06]These are not the words of a human being.
[13:09]They're not man-made.
[13:08]This is divine from Allah." So then his nephew told him, "Then
[13:13]why don't you believe?
[13:14]Then why are you waging so many wars?
[13:16]Believe in him." He told him, "I cannot believe." He tells him,
[13:18]"Why?" He says because look Muhammad is from the tribe of whom?
[13:25]Of Beni Hashim.
[13:23]I am from the tribe of Mum.
[13:25]And there is competition between our tribes.
[13:28]How can I submit to someone from a tribe that I see
[13:33]is lower than mine.
[13:34]Every time they would feed the poor, we would feed the poor.
[13:39]They have a warrior.
[13:38]We have a any virtue they have, we would also have a
[13:44]virtue.
[13:44]We would also compete with them in a greater virtue.
[13:46]All of a sudden, a man comes from Beni Hashim and says,
[13:49]"I'm a messenger of God.
[13:50]Where am I going to find a messenger of God in my
[13:53]tribe?
[13:54]I can never follow someone from another tribe, a tribe that I
[13:56]see lower than me." He says, "We were always neck andneck, my
[13:59]tribe and his tribe." Now, he's going to have the upper hand.
[14:03]So, when there's rivalry and I feel like I'm better than someone
[14:08]else, it's difficult for me to submit to that person.
[14:12]So Abu Jahal even though he knew the prophet was a messenger
[14:15]but he could not submit because of his arrogance.
[14:19]You see how arrogance sometimes prevents you from following the truth because
[14:23]you don't want to submit to to this person.
[14:25]You don't want to admit that this person is right and you're
[14:30]wrong.
[14:28]The same man Abu Jah he went one day to Alw he
[14:32]was another one of the enemies of the prophet Alw he heard
[14:37]that the prophet is you know they're calling him crazy and they're
[14:40]making up so many names against him so he decided to go
[14:43]and listen to the Quran when he listened to the Quran brothers
[14:46]and sisters he fell in love with it he knew right away
[14:50]that this can't be man-made unfortunately if you don't understand Arabic you
[14:54]you can't feel the sweetness of the words of God the sweetness
[14:57]of the Quran how beautiful it is.
[14:59]You can, you know, you can understand yourself that this is not
[15:02]man-made when you compare it to any other scripture, any other poem.
[15:08]So, al he fell in love with the Quran.
[15:10]He would go every day and just listen to the Quran.
[15:11]So, Abu Jah, he hears that alw is going to listen to
[15:16]the Quran every day.
[15:15]He quickly goes after him.
[15:18]He tells him, "Ya, you want to follow this orphan?" And that's
[15:21]how they used to speak about the prophet in a condescending way.
[15:25]They used to belittle him.
[15:25]you want to go and submit to the religion of this orphan
[15:27]Muhammad?
[15:28]He says, "No, no, no.
[15:31]I don't." This was a big, you know, accusation.
[15:32]He's I just want to listen to the Quran.
[15:35]So then he tells him, "No, don't listen to the Quran.
[15:39]This is all fake.
[15:41]This is all Muhammad's writing." So Alwi tells him, "No, do not
[15:44]say that." Tells him, he tells him, "I myself, I'm a poet
[15:49]and I am the most eloquent person in Arabia.
[15:50]I know all the poems.
[15:53]I know all the literature.
[15:53]This is not man-made.
[15:56]This is something supernatural.
[15:57]Don't tell me that this is just like any other poem.
[15:59]This is something unique.
[16:01]And that's why brothers and sisters, one way that proves the Quran
[16:05]is a miracle is the fact that the Quran was revealed in
[16:11]the most eloquent way.
[16:11]And then the Quran it what it uh challenged all the Arabs
[16:16]to bring one chapter like it in its eloquence.
[16:17]And remember the Arabs back then in Jah they had all mastered
[16:23]the Arabic language.
[16:22]They were born poets.
[16:24]You had little kids walking and they were reading poetry better than
[16:29]you and I understand today.
[16:29]So they were top in the Arabic language.
[16:32]And that's why even up to today the greatest poems of all
[16:35]time, they're all from the Jahalia.
[16:39]No one could match the poetry of the Jah area area era
[16:41]for 1400 years.
[16:44]So they knew what eloquence was all about.
[16:46]So the Quran came down and its eloquence and then it challenged
[16:49]them.
[16:49]Bring one chapter like it.
[16:50]If you say Muhammad made it, they couldn't.
[16:53]They waged wars.
[16:52]If you can disprove someone just by bringing a chapter of the
[16:57]Quran, why do you wage a war?
[16:58]Right?
[16:58]So that shows that they couldn't they couldn't scholarly and academically disprove
[17:03]the Quran.
[17:02]This proves that the Quran is the word of Allah subhanahu wa
[17:08]ta'ala or else you bring one like it.
[17:11]So anyway, he tells Muira, Abu Jah tells Alira that this is,
[17:14]you know, this is Muhammad's writing.
[17:16]Al- Mu tells him, "No, these are not the words of Muhammad.
[17:21]These are not man-made.
[17:21]They are supernatural.
[17:23]And then he starts to praise the Quran.
[17:25]He says, "When I hear the words of the Quran, Muhammad is
[17:27]reading it, it's like honey.
[17:28]It's like it's so sweet to my heart.
[17:30]It's like like nothing I have ever heard before.
[17:34]It is so grand.
[17:37]It is so superior to anything else." But then Abu Jah, what
[17:39]does he do?
[17:40]He says, he finds out that he figures out that logically he
[17:43]can't be.
[17:44]So he starts to talk about the tribal system.
[17:48]But remember he's from Bihashim and you're from Bif fan.
[17:50]You're from another tribe and if you submit to him that means
[17:55]you have disgraced your tribe.
[17:56]What will your forefathers say in their graves that you went and
[18:01]submitted to this orphan from another tribe?
[18:04]This logic worked for al- mu.
[18:04]He's like you know what?
[18:05]Yes.
[18:06]Even though I accept that he's he's a prophet and this is
[18:10]not man-made but because of that arrogance they could not believe in
[18:13]the prophet and that's why al- mu he came up with this
[18:14]idea that the prophet is a magician yes when you listen to
[18:19]the Quran you'll like it but not because it's the word of
[18:20]god because he hypnotizes you so arrogance brothers and sisters it can
[18:24]prevent me from believing in the truth like shaitan and like these
[18:30]disbelievers during the time of the prophet now what constitutes arrogance What
[18:35]makes a person arrogant?
[18:36]Brothers and sisters in one traditional imam he explains who an arrogant
[18:43]person is.
[18:45]You know what he says?
[18:45]He says he says whoever thinks he is he is better than
[18:55]anyone else in this world and im says then that person is
[18:59]arrogant.
[19:00]You want to know if you're arrogant or not just apply this
[19:05]test.
[19:05]If you think that you are better than anyone else in this
[19:08]world, I'm better than him, I'm better than her, it doesn't matter,
[19:11]then the imam says that you're an arrogant person.
[19:15]I'm better than him because, for example, of my skin color, of
[19:19]my language, because I'm an Arab and he's not Arab or I
[19:23]am from this country or I'm from this village and thus I
[19:25]am better than that person because I am educated and he's not
[19:28]educated because I am wealthy.
[19:31]This is obviously one of the greatest reasons and most common reasons
[19:35]that someone becomes arrogant.
[19:36]When he becomes wealthy, right?
[19:37]Because I have power, I have wealth and I become this im
[19:42]says is an arrogant person that thinks he's better than someone else
[19:45]because he has more money.
[19:46]Having more money does not make you better than anybody else.
[19:48]Right?
[19:49]Or else Alis, the family of Saudi Arabia is better than all
[19:53]of us because they have 10 times more money than all the
[19:55]rich people of the world combined.
[19:56]Right?
[19:57]So having more money does not in fact the a hadith tell
[20:02]us that wealth comes with what comes with many evil things.
[20:04]It makes you uh stingy.
[20:08]It makes you arrogant.
[20:08]It makes you more attached to the dunya.
[20:11]So usually wealth makes you even worse.
[20:13]Usually doesn't make you a better person.
[20:15]Some people they may think because of my knowledge I'm more knowledgeable
[20:18]than fan and thus I am better than him.
[20:22]This is also wrong.
[20:22]Why?
[20:23]The greatest testimony to this is whol himself.
[20:26]Ll the shaitan he's more knowledgeable than all of us he's more
[20:29]knowledgeable than me and you and all the scholars because he knows
[20:34]everything right but his problem is arrogance so if you think because
[20:36]of your knowledge you're better than someone else that means shaitan the
[20:40]devil is better than you so then the companion of the imam
[20:44]he asked him a question when the imam told him if you
[20:46]feel like you are better than anyone else you're an arrogant person
[20:49]what does the companion tell him the companion tells him but what
[20:56]if what if one Today I see someone committing a sin, I
[21:01]will have something inside me that I'll feel I'm better than him.
[21:06]Right?
[21:06]I was at the lecture listening to a lecture.
[21:08]I was at the masjid praying while he was partying in a
[21:12]bar.
[21:12]When I see this, when I know this, there's something inside me
[21:14]that will make me feel better than that person.
[21:18]This is what the companion tells us.
[21:20]He says here, it's justified for me to feel that I'm better
[21:22]than that person because I did something good.
[21:25]he did something evil.
[21:25]The Imam replies, "No, even then you have no right to feel
[21:30]like you're better." Why?
[21:31]He says, "Because this man, even though he's doing evil now, but
[21:37]he may repent tomorrow.
[21:37]He may repent tomorrow and Allah may forgive him.
[21:41]And you, even though you're doing good now, but you could do
[21:44]evil tomorrow and Allah may not forgive you." Remember when I began
[21:50]the series uh a week ago, we spoke about examples of people
[21:52]who had reached the highest levels of virtue and then they deviated.
[21:55]We gave the example of a Zuber who was the closest companion
[22:00]of the prophet but then he died kill he he died fighting
[22:02]against Imam Ali Alisam.
[22:06]So don't be misled by your you know by your virtues and
[22:08]good deeds now.
[22:10]Who knows what will happen later on.
[22:11]So don't feel like you're better just because you're good now.
[22:13]And of course the example of himself, he's an example of someone
[22:19]that reached the highest levels of faith and virtue and then he
[22:22]fell.
[22:22]So the im tells him that just because you see someone committing
[22:25]a sin doesn't mean you're better than him because maybe he will
[22:28]repent tomorrow like we mentioned the example of the companion of Imam
[22:34]Hussein who was one of the commanders of the army of Yazid.
[22:36]He was there to kill Imam Hussein but then he repented and
[22:40]he switched sides and he fought for Imam Hussein and he was
[22:43]killed.
[22:44]So if he's evil now maybe he'll change tomorrow.
[22:47]So don't think that you're better than him.
[22:47]So the imam he explains to us he defines what arrogance is.
[22:52]Anytime you have that feeling that you're better than someone this is
[22:56]when the shaitan comes and he exploits this feeling that I am
[22:59]from this country from this race from this from that because I
[23:02]have money.
[23:04]He comes and he exploits that and he tries that you disobey
[23:07]Allah in any way because remember when you have arrogance what do
[23:10]you start doing you start belittling people you start disrespecting them you
[23:14]start neglecting them you see how an arrogant person is it's not
[23:17]just a feeling in your heart you start expressing it through your
[23:19]actions so this is the one of the most common methods that
[23:25]the shaitan uses to misguide us he comes through arrogance number two
[23:30]and I hass in that hadith where he mentioned three things he
[23:34]says number two a second weak spot that many of us have
[23:37]is what is envy.
[23:41]Hassad envy.
[23:39]Envy brothers and sisters is a problem that we all suffer from.
[23:46]We all suffer from fact Hassan says that the first crime ever
[23:51]committed on earth was because of envy.
[23:55]Who's he talking about?
[23:56]Who?
[23:59]I can't hear.
[24:02]I can't understand.
[24:05]Can someone be more specific?
[24:07]What?
[24:06]and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he brought down Adam to this dy
[24:13]right and then he had those his two sons and I imam
[24:19]says that who's called Kain in English right Kain and Abel so
[24:25]he was older than Habib so he expected because he's the older
[24:29]son he expected that he would be his father's successor but Habib
[24:35]was more virtuous.
[24:37]He was a better person.
[24:38]So Allah he instructed Adam to tell his son Habir that you
[24:46]are my successor to appoint him.
[24:46]So he found out that his father chose his younger brother over
[24:51]him.
[24:52]He went crazy.
[24:55]What happened?
[24:53]Envy.
[24:54]The envy and inside him started to burn.
[24:57]So he went to his father Adam.
[24:59]My dear father, why did you appoint my younger brother?
[25:04]I'm the oldest one.
[25:03]I should be your successor.
[25:05]Adam told him, look, this is not my decision.
[25:07]This is the decision of God.
[25:09]God knows better.
[25:11]So he started to object.
[25:12]So to prove to him that this is God's decision, not mine.
[25:16]He told them, why don't you and your brother both offer a
[25:20]sacrifice?
[25:20]Choose something that you love.
[25:22]They used to put it on a mountain and then they would
[25:27]wait.
[25:25]Lightning would come from the sky and it would burn the sacrifice
[25:30]of the one that Allah accepted and leave the other one.
[25:32]So Habil he chose something he put it on a mountain chose
[25:37]something and then they were just looking which sacrifice will Allah accept
[25:42]and Allah mentions the story in the Quran he says all the
[25:56]sudden lightning came and it struck sacrifice and was just waiting nothing
[26:01]happened.
[26:02]Now instead of what?
[26:03]Instead of accepting that his brother is better than him.
[26:07]But no, his envy started to increase and he was raging.
[26:10]So what did he tell his brother?
[26:13]The Quran says he told his brother I will kill you.
[26:18]You see envy brothers and sisters as a feeling is not haram.
[26:21]If you have envy towards someone, you know, you and and basically
[26:25]envy Islamically the definition of envy is when you want someone to
[26:30]lose their good things they have.
[26:31]If you just want to have what they have, this is not
[26:35]envy.
[26:35]So let's say someone is wealthy.
[26:36]I envy him.
[26:38]I want also to be wealthy like him.
[26:39]This is not envy.
[26:39]This is not bad.
[26:42]This is not advice.
[26:41]This is called it's positive envy.
[26:44]He has money.
[26:45]I also want money.
[26:46]He has kids.
[26:47]I also want kids.
[26:49]This is not bad.
[26:49]Envy is when you want that person to lose what he had.
[26:54]I want him to fail.
[26:54]This is envy.
[26:56]So envy as a feeling is not a sin.
[27:00]When does it become a sin?
[27:01]When you start expressing that envy through actions because you have envy
[27:06]towards someone and you want them to fail.
[27:08]What do you do?
[27:10]You start hurting that person, right?
[27:11]You start trying to hurt that person any way that you can.
[27:14]Once you put that envy into action, this is when it becomes
[27:19]haram.
[27:18]The shaitan when he sees you have envy inside you towards someone,
[27:23]he comes right away and he pushes you to hurt that person.
[27:25]Go and hit him, go and kill him sometimes like or you
[27:30]know try to make him uh uh lose and and and fail
[27:35]in any way possible.
[27:35]So thean comes to and he tells him go and kill your
[27:40]brother.
[27:38]So he was playing on that envy that he had until finally
[27:43]he went and he killed his own brother.
[27:46]And Allah made an example of him in the Quran.
[27:50]And this shows you brothers and sisters that envy is so powerful
[27:53]that even the sons of prophets are not immune.
[27:57]Even if your dad is a prophet, you could still what?
[28:00]You could still be fooled and misguided by envy.
[28:03]Yes, it's very powerful.
[28:06]Every one of us brothers and sisters there will be days there
[28:08]will be times in our lives where there will be envy in
[28:12]our hearts and the shaitan will try to seize the opportunity to
[28:15]what?
[28:15]To make me go and hurt the person that I envy.
[28:20]Look at the story of prophet Ysef.
[28:21]Prophet Ysef saw the dream.
[28:23]He told his father he tells in the holy Quran and his
[28:28]brothers they were envious of him.
[28:28]His 11 or 10 brothers they were envious of him and his
[28:31]younger brother binyamin.
[28:35]In fact, Allah says this in the Holy Quran they said the
[28:43]brothers of Ysef they said that our father loves Ysef more than
[28:48]us and the younger brother.
[28:48]Now this is envy.
[28:49]Remember if it's just a thought it's not haram.
[28:51]You have to fight away that you know you have to take
[28:55]that thought out of your brain.
[28:56]Tell yourself this is the shaitan.
[28:58]No, no, no.
[29:00]But they allowed the shaitan to play on that idea.
[29:01]So they came up with an idea of how to what get
[29:05]rid of Ysef the Quran says so one of them said you
[29:14]know what you know what's the solution to this the fact that
[29:16]our father loves Ysef more than us let's kill Ysef sons of
[29:24]prophet they think of murder because of envy so they decided to
[29:27]kill Ysef they told him let's go and play they took him
[29:31]from his father and then They threw him in that well and
[29:33]then one of them said, "Let's not kill him.
[29:35]Let's just sell him." And they sold him as a slave and
[29:38]he was a slave for so many years.
[29:39]So why did they commit that act brothers and sisters?
[29:41]Why did they commit that crime?
[29:45]Because of envy.
[29:44]Their envy was so powerful that it led them to this.
[29:49]And they justified it.
[29:50]Why should we kill Yousef?
[29:54]So that our father can focus on us.
[29:56]Enough Ysef.
[29:58]We want the attention.
[29:58]So they thought by getting rid of Yousef, their father will will
[30:01]start loving them.
[30:02]And this is also one of the whispers of thean that he
[30:04]fools you into thinking if you hurt your rival, whoever you're envious
[30:09]of, you will get the benefit.
[30:11]You won't you'll be caught eventually.
[30:13]And they were caught.
[30:13]Their father found out.
[30:15]He knew that this was their plot and this was their scheme
[30:18]because he's a prophet.
[30:18]Allahh told him they just upset their father and they committed a
[30:24]huge crime.
[30:24]So when we're envious brothers and sisters, when we have envy, we
[30:29]don't even think logically.
[30:29]We are just driven by animosity towards the person that we have
[30:33]envy towards.
[30:35]So these two stories, they the story of Adam and of the
[30:39]brothers of Ysef, it shows you that number one, it doesn't matter
[30:45]how virtuous, how great your family is, you could still be misled
[30:48]and you can you're still uh susceptible to envy.
[30:52]And that's why even religious people, even scholars, even scholars, they can
[30:57]have envy.
[30:57]In fact, there is a hadith that says he is one problem
[31:03]with scholars and with knowledge in general is what?
[31:07]It's envy.
[31:06]He has more knowledge than me.
[31:09]I start having envy.
[31:09]He's more successful than me.
[31:11]I start becoming envious.
[31:13]That masjid is more successful than this masjid.
[31:15]Envy starts to build.
[31:17]Now, you have to try to get rid of the envy.
[31:20]But no, sometimes the shaitan comes and he tries to fool you
[31:23]to start a fight against another masjid.
[31:25]How many communities have you seen two massages they fight over silly
[31:29]reasons?
[31:30]Why?
[31:30]Envy because they have more people than us because they make money
[31:34]more us because because so even religious people brothers and sisters faithful
[31:38]you will find that fights will happen between them problems will happen
[31:43]because of envy.
[31:45]So we have to be extra careful of envy.
[31:47]And a second lesson we learned from these stories of the sons
[31:50]of prophets is that envy brothers and sisters sometimes is a common
[31:58]problem between siblings between siblings like Khabil and Kabil and Ysef and
[32:04]his brothers and that's why as a parent brothers and sisters as
[32:08]a father or mother you have to be extra careful in how
[32:10]you treat your kids.
[32:13]If you start giving one of your kids special treatment over others,
[32:16]one of your daughters, one of your sons, trust me, the others,
[32:20]they will what?
[32:22]Start feeling jealous and that envy will start to develop and the
[32:25]shaitan will come and it will try to exaggerate and will try
[32:28]to play on this and to push them to what?
[32:31]To seek revenge and do something either against the father, against the
[32:34]mother or against their own siblings.
[32:37]As we saw stories of the brothers of prophets and the sons
[32:40]of prophets, they did that.
[32:41]So we have to be very sensitive.
[32:42]Anything you do for one of your children, do it for the
[32:47]other ones.
[32:46]Even even if one of them is better than the others.
[32:50]Don't give that person special treatment in a way that the other
[32:53]one can see because this will what?
[32:54]This is fuel for that person to try to seek revenge and
[33:00]do something evil.
[33:00]Don't say, "No, he's my son.
[33:03]He's not." The sons of prophets try to kill each other.
[33:05]You're not better than a prophet, are you?
[33:07]If they were not immune, our children won't be immune.
[33:10]And the hadith of you know they focus on this.
[33:13]Treat all your kids equally.
[33:16]Even if some of some of them are better than others, then
[33:17]you have to treat them equally.
[33:19]Ysef was much better than his brothers.
[33:21]Don't think that he was just you know he was just he
[33:25]loved Ysef just because he looked better than the others.
[33:27]No, because Ysef his personality, his traits, his uh his merits, his
[33:32]virtues, he was much better than his brothers.
[33:35]But yet he should not have you know done it in such
[33:40]an obvious way that the the brothers they started to feel so
[33:42]jealous and envious.
[33:44]So we have to be extra careful when it comes to how
[33:47]we treat our own kids.
[33:50]So this is the second brother and sisters this is the second
[33:56]method or the second uh weak spot that we human beings usually
[33:59]have that the shaitan tries to exploit.
[34:01]Number one we said was arrogance.
[34:02]Number two I Hassan says is envy and envy is very dangerous
[34:09]and every single one of us brothers and sisters we will be
[34:12]envious one day.
[34:12]Allah subhana wa ta'ala has created us as human beings.
[34:16]We will become envious.
[34:16]But as we said that feeling of envy is not haram.
[34:20]You have to fight it.
[34:20]Whatever your envy is telling you to do, don't do it.
[34:24]You hate that person because he's more successful.
[34:27]No.
[34:28]Say no.
[34:27]This is wrong.
[34:28]Allah subhana t gave him this wealth.
[34:30]Allah gave him the success.
[34:31]Allah gave him that.
[34:33]So you have to fight these insinuations of the shaitan and tell
[34:36]yourself, look, I know he's my cousin and he's wealthier than me.
[34:39]Well, maybe because he works better than me.
[34:41]Maybe it's because he's smarter than me.
[34:43]Maybe because I sleep till 10:00, 11, and he wakes up from
[34:48]6:00 a.m.
[34:47]and he's working.
[34:48]That's why.
[34:49]So give them the benefit of the doubt versus just saying he's
[34:52]a spoiled brat.
[34:51]He has more than me.
[34:54]No.
[34:54]First of all, you're going to destroy yourself because of the, you
[34:57]know, the psychological torture that envy has for the own envious person.
[35:01]And number two, this may lead to a crime.
[35:05]How many crimes you hear in the news, you know, between family
[35:08]members or between two people who are in the same profession.
[35:12]One tries to kill the other, he tries to steal from the
[35:14]other, he tries to hurt the other just because of the envy.
[35:18]So this is number two.
[35:20]And number three, number three, Alm Hassam says the third way or
[35:24]the third weak spot that we human beings have is what is
[35:29]what is greed?
[35:31]Greed for the dunya.
[35:34]This I will speak about tomorrow inshallah.
[35:34]How powerful this vice greed can be in us and the shaitan
[35:40]uses this to misguide us in this.
[35:43]Inshallah I will speak about greed tomorrow night because it needs an
[35:46]entire lecture to speak about the dangers of greed and how shaitan
[35:53]I'll give you examples how the shaitan he exploits greed to misguide
[35:57]us.
[35:58]I'll speak about that tomorrow.
[35:59]Inshallah tonight we will have the bonfire outside.
[36:01]Alhamdulillah, there's no rain tonight and it's a little cold.
[36:04]So, I hope you brought your jackets if anyone's will wanting to
[36:08]stay.
[36:08]We'll just have it in a couple of minutes inshallah for about
[36:11]an hour.
[36:12]Uh it will be an open Q&A discussion session and then I
[36:15]think there will be food uh the there's a truck that sells
[36:20]food.
[36:20]So, whoever wants to have their during the discussion after the discussion,
[36:24]you're more than welcome to attend.
[36:25]Thank you so much brothers and sisters.
[36:28]I ask Allahh to bless you all except your to forgive us
[36:30]all of our sins to guide us in the footsteps of and
[36:35]to protect us from these traps and manipulations of the ask Allah
[36:42]subhanahu wa ta'ala to grant us the z of in this life
[36:43]and their in the next life and let us end by reciting
[36:48]fat for all the and that have departed us after a loud
[36:51]salawat for Muhammad and al Muhammad Bat.
