[0:15][Music] well respected Scholars Elders brothers and sisters these words were uttered
[1:05]by the great in the presence of a group of sunnis Al
[1:15]was one of the most famous theologians of our traditions and when
[1:24]he recited salawat after the mentioning of the name of Ali there
[1:31]were some sunnis in the Gathering who objected to this they said
[1:37]to him that saying is not appropriate because this is something that
[1:46]is exclusive to prophets why don't you say he's one of the
[2:01]companions of the Prophet why is it that when you mention and
[2:08]the IMs of you say may God's salutations be upon all of
[2:15]them you should say may God be pleased with them just like
[2:20]we we say about all of the and the he had a
[2:30]very deep knowledge of the Quran and he said to the attendees
[2:37]I can prove to you using the Quran that you can say
[2:46]after mentioning any of the IMs of from the Quran so they
[2:52]said bring the evidence from the Quran that it is permissible and
[2:58]it is suitable to send salutations upon the IMs of how can
[3:06]you extrapolate this from the Quran he said to them do you
[3:11]agree that and the IMs of do you agree that they were
[3:20]patient people that they were people of sa they said yes would
[3:25]you agree that they are not only patient but they are the
[3:29]epitome of patients they agreed he cites Ayah 156 and 157 [Applause]
[3:46][Music] ofah the famous Ayah where Allah describes the mindset of the
[3:56]patient those who when they are afflicted with the calam they say
[4:02]to Allah we belong and to him we shall return what is
[4:07]the reward of such people upon such people are salutations from their
[4:18]lord this is why whenever we mention our we sendat upon them
[4:28]Muhammad muhamad so we want to continue our discussion from last night
[4:39]we spoke about the concept oful in the Quran the concept of
[4:49]masculinity as we mentioned there are many verses in the Quran where
[4:56]Allah subhah wa ta'ala uses the expression the term last night we
[5:04]mentioned from among the Believers there are men to contrast with those
[5:15]who are male who lack the qualities of masculinity and we mentioned
[5:24]last night that in the battle of the Prophet sent the first
[5:32]the second they failed they did not show bravery and courage and
[5:36]resilience when they came back says tomorrow tomorrow I will give the
[5:48]standard to a I will give it to a man someone who
[5:56]embodies true masculinity and that was none other than so we have
[6:06]ayat in the Quran that speak about the qualities of now when
[6:15]you look at the you find that there are other terms that
[6:19]are used to describe manliness and among them is the term comes
[6:30]from the word means a man is manliness so we have many
[6:38]where the IMs of explain the meaning of Manliness and inshallah we'll
[6:44]cover some of those Traditions tonight we also have the term f
[6:54]it literally means chivalry and futa is very important it's it's a
[7:01]it's a lost Concept in this day and age this idea of
[7:08]facilitating the transition of a boy into manhood you know past civilizations
[7:13]used to have rights of Passage the ancient Greeks the ancient Romans
[7:18]they used to actually initiate their boys into manhood this doesn't exist
[7:24]today and this is one of the problems we need to revive
[7:30]this concept of teaching men how to become how teaching boys how
[7:35]to become men now before we look at the tra traditions where
[7:40]the imams speak about there's another Ayah of the Quran that is
[7:45]important for us to reflect on if we want to understand the
[7:51]quranic conception oful so last night we mentioned the Ayah from one
[8:02]of the most important qualities of a real man is that they
[8:08]are true to their covenants and the most important Covenant in the
[8:13]life of a man is his Covenant with his Lord a man
[8:18]has to live a life of purpose you are not considered a
[8:25]real man if you are living an aimless life a man is
[8:29]someone and this was revealed in the context of men have to
[8:37]develop within themselves the spirit of sacrifice for a man the way
[8:44]that a man should think is not what do I get the
[8:48]M the mindset should be what can I give a man is
[8:52]supposed to be a giver a servant leader we spoke about that
[8:59]last night the Ayah that I want to begin our discussion tonight
[9:04]with is you know it's interesting that one of the most important
[9:09]aat about is found Ina which highlights that one of the most
[9:16]important Dimensions oful is how you relate and interact with women if
[9:23]you want to see a true man observe the way he interacts
[9:33]with women especially his wife especially the women folk of his family
[9:37]this is an a a very accurate indicator if the individual has
[9:42]or no what is the Ayah that we want to look at
[9:50]a 34 of Allah says this Ayah un fortunately is often misused
[10:03]and misunderstood and sometimes it is even weaponized by men who are
[10:11]abusive they use this verse to assert their dominance but the Ayah
[10:20]is not speaking about superiority or dominance Allah says is the term
[10:31]that Allah uses to describe true they are is the Intensive form
[10:41]of to stand you know when you want to do something when
[10:45]you want to take care of business when you want to manage
[10:50]Affairs you rise up you stand men are described as those who
[10:55]stand they are not just it's not just or or it's men
[11:05]are the maintainers and the Protectors of women why Allah made men
[11:21]this is the ideal unfortunately there are many males who do not
[11:26]live up to the dictates of this Ayah Allah says men are
[11:33]the maintainers of women this is not about superiority of one gender
[11:40]over the other Allah says because you men I have given you
[11:48]certain qualities physiological qualities cognitive qualities that make you more suitable to
[11:55]play the role of provider and protector so this is really a
[12:06]job description being a man entails that you have a duty it's
[12:11]not a hierarchy see the problem is some read this Ayah and
[12:17]they think men are above women in in in the sense of
[12:22]a hierarchy here Allah is saying that no you are the protectors
[12:27]and the providers the maintainers of women because Allah has given you
[12:34]certain qualities that make you the ideal candidate for this role yes
[12:38]a woman can work a woman can provide but the toll the
[12:45]psychological toll that it takes on a woman is not the same
[12:46]as a man yes a woman can work 40 50 60 hours
[12:53]a week and a man can also work 40 50 60 hours
[12:57]a week Allah subh did not want to give that burden to
[13:07]a woman because she was not built to carry that weight she
[13:10]can do it but you shouldn't allow her to carry that weight
[13:13]you are better fit for that burden if you look at the
[13:19]sh look at the wisdom of Allah subhana wa taala when a
[13:23]woman goes through her menstrual cycle Allah relieves her of Salah Salah
[13:29]which is so easy it takes a few minutes to do Salah
[13:34]when a woman is in that psychological State when her body is
[13:39]undergoing those changes Allah the merciful Lord says these five daily prayers
[13:44]I am lifting them off of your shoulders if Allah relieves them
[13:52]of Salah why is it that modern societies want them to carry
[13:57]the same weight as men work 9 to 5 and function as
[14:03]if you're a man you find that even if a woman is
[14:11]wealthy the sh says you as the man you you have to
[14:18]still provide why because your ability to provide is intrinsically connected to
[14:25]your sense of worth as a man there is nothing that is
[14:31]more emasculating for a man than to lose that ability to provide
[14:35]so even if a woman is rich Allah subhana wa tala still
[14:41]wants you to provide because that is what a man is supposed
[14:46]to do if you excuse yourself of that role now of course
[14:50]there are always going to be special circumstances you know sometimes a
[14:54]man might be sick maybe he can't work like we have an
[15:00]example example of a prophet a he became ill and his wife
[15:03]had to work you know for those of you who read the
[15:08]story of a was a man of great he was a man's
[15:15]man he became so ill that his wife who happened to be
[15:19]from the descendants of yuam she's from a a prophetic family for
[15:27]you for a it was very difficult for him to see his
[15:34]wife who comes from this Noble family that she is now carrying
[15:37]the weight of being the bread winner and do you know when
[15:42]a could not take it anymore when she sold her locks she
[15:47]started to sell her hair to provide for her this is when
[15:53]he turned to Allah for a man and that's why it's very
[16:01]important especially for youngsters when you read these ayat these verses are
[16:09]telling you what your role is to be in the future which
[16:13]means you should not be playing PS5 for nine hours a day
[16:18]you need to acquire the skills that are needed to provide for
[16:25]your future wife and your future kids you shouldn't waste time spending
[16:32]hours and hours on social media playing video games this is not
[16:37]going to make you into a man it's going to make you
[16:41]into a loser honestly you're going to end up living in your
[16:44]mother's basement until you're 47 years old and then you're going to
[16:47]come to me Sheikh can you help me get married and I'm
[16:50]going to say no I cannot help you it's interesting that the
[17:01]term is related and it's connected to one of the names of
[17:04]Allah subhana wa tala Allah Isam one of the names of Allah
[17:22]is Al it's the same root as when we say that Allah
[17:32]is it means what Allah is the provider he provides for his
[17:37]creation Allah subhana wa ta'ala when he provides he provides in a
[17:45]very comprehensive way Allah doesn't only just provide you food he provides
[17:49]you with all of your needs it's a type of care that
[17:56]is based on his Mercy it's a comprehensive care and and hence
[17:59]when you look at the AY when we say that men real
[18:08]men are the maintainers and the protectors and the providers we're not
[18:14]just talking about paying the bills or providing food providing clothes that's
[18:20]a part of it but that's not all your responsibility is as
[18:25]the father as the husband you also have to provide for the
[18:33]spiritual needs of your family the emotional needs of your family you
[18:37]should not be an absentee father an absentee husband you should be
[18:44]there your family needs more than your credit card they need you
[18:48]they need your presence they need to see you there is nothing
[18:56]more damaging than being an absentee father a lot of the problems
[19:03]that I see in young girls and young boys a lot of
[19:06]it is connected to the void that they feel because of the
[19:12]absence of parents that's why a lot of our sisters they get
[19:17]into very problematic relationships because they're trying to fill that void don't
[19:22]create that void as a father don't create that void in the
[19:28]life of your son be there be that spiritual leader see yourself
[19:35]as the leader of the tribe your family is your tribe you're
[19:38]the leader of the tribe and you're not there to be served
[19:41]you are a servant leader you're at the service of your family
[19:47]look at when he was Theif don't tell me that I'm too
[20:00]busy don't tell me I have work I know you have work
[20:04]when he was Theif he used to spend some of his nights
[20:09]with his daughters if there's anyone who could have said I'm too
[20:17]busy it was he's Theif he's dealing with mu and he has
[20:21]a lot of problems but yet he makes time to spend some
[20:26]of the nights of Ramadan with with Z this is an important
[20:38]part of to be there to be present this is part of
[20:41]what it means to be a man and this is not your
[20:46]feminine side as a man no that is part of your masculine
[20:50]side this was part of Ali's masculine side Allah subhana wa ta'ala
[20:58]in the Quran when he addresses the believer he says oh you
[21:02]who believe and the primary addresses are the believing men oh you
[21:14]who believe Shield yourselves and your families from the fire you have
[21:22]to protect them from spiritual harm that's your duty you have to
[21:28]protect them from emotional harm and one of the most damaging things
[21:33]that you can do is to neglect your family to be physically
[21:39]and some of some men they're physically present but mentally they're absent
[21:44]they're not there their body is there but they're somewhere else was
[21:52]present when he was with his family when he was with his
[22:00]children and especially esally when we when he was with part of
[22:06]what it means to be a man is to provide emotionally for
[22:12]the women folk of your family I'll share with you one statement
[22:16]from this is after the death of after her martyrdom was saying
[22:28]this in public he he says reflecting on the memory of his
[22:33]wife he says he says when I used to look at fa
[22:51]when I used to just look at her not talk to her
[22:55]just glancing at her all of my sorrows all of my grief
[23:02]it dissipates it vanishes you know when you read these words of
[23:07]you ask yourself if this is what Ali says in public about
[23:15]Fatima if this is the love he shows her in public imagine
[23:19]how affectionate Ali was in private this isula this is this is
[23:31]masculinity so Allah subhah waala he says you are the the protectors
[23:40]the maintainers in your household when it's the time of Salah you
[23:46]should be the one who brings out the S you should be
[23:51]as the father as the husband you should recite Adan in your
[23:54]home you know it's very sad and say Ahmed can attest to
[24:00]this whenever we have a class whether it's the overwhelming majority of
[24:06]the attendees are sisters it's as if the brothers feel like they
[24:10]have no responsibility to learn their religion to be leaders to be
[24:16]spiritual leaders of the family this is part of your duty we
[24:22]have a narration where IM he was asked he was asked what
[24:37]is manliness is manliness to get a Cuban cigar to do the
[24:43]most push-ups to get a tattoo of what what is what is
[24:49]manliness to have an exotic car who has the most girlfriends is
[24:52]this Rula this is not Rula Imam he says look at how
[24:57]look at how change the mentality of the people we're not looking
[25:03]for the The Superficial fake manliness we're looking for real manliness what
[25:09]is it he says the first thing that Imam mentions to describe
[25:22]manliness he says a real man is protective over his religion if
[25:29]something is very precious to you imagine you have something that's very
[25:34]precious you have let's say you have a fancy watch it's very
[25:39]precious to you and someone comes and grabs it and takes it
[25:41]and you don't do anything about it what would what would people
[25:45]say about you you're a coward you're not a real man you
[25:47]let people take away things that are precious someone comes and grabs
[25:52]your wife and and runs with her you don't do anything you
[25:57]don't guard what is precious the most precious thing that you have
[26:02]is your religion your your relationship with Allah how could you how
[26:06]could you allow your religion to be taken from you your Dean
[26:09]to be compromised you should be more protective over your religion than
[26:13]anything this is and then what does the Imam say a real
[26:25]man makes sure he he's he manages and he ensures that his
[26:31]wealth is pure you're not a man just because you can make
[26:39]money Imam says no a real man is the one who can
[26:46]earn Halal money that is Rula who cares someone says oh this
[26:52]guy is a millionaire yeah but how much of it is halal
[26:54]who cares that doesn't that that doesn't mean anything that is not
[27:00]a true metric oful why is it important for you to earn
[27:04]Halal money it's because if you earn Haram money you are engaging
[27:11]in self-destructive behavior and a real man does not self-destruct when you
[27:20]earn Haram money and you buy groceries and you buy you spend
[27:23]Haram money on your family you're feeding them something that's harmful to
[27:30]them so how are you how are you a provider a protector
[27:34]of your family if you are feeding them something that is harmful
[27:39]which is Haram income you have to purify your wealth you have
[27:47]to know you have to know what is halal what Isam and
[27:51]then the IM says manliness is to up uphold the rights of
[28:00]people not to take away the rights of people some they think
[28:06]that I'm a man because I can maneuver and I can manipulate
[28:08]and I can cheat it's not that's Nota this is cowardice a
[28:14]real man is someone who observes the people come to you when
[28:20]they want their rights you are seen as a refuge [Applause] for
[28:26]you're not an Aid of the you're not an aid for the
[28:32]oppressors you're a refuge for the oppressed this is this is manliness
[28:40]we have another narration where IM alassan is being asked by his
[28:48]father about manliness and this is very beautiful these are conversations that
[28:53]have to happen IM asks his son oh my son what is
[29:02]manliness this conversation has to happen between Fathers and Sons how many
[29:07]fathers have sat their sons down and had a Frank conversation about
[29:12]what it means to be a real man this is what Ali
[29:17]used to do he used to talk to his sons he asks
[29:22]his son tell me what is your understanding of what a real
[29:30]man is look at what IM much says he highlights the Lost
[29:34]virtues of real men when you think of what a real man
[29:39]is what a man's man is what comes to mind look at
[29:44]what Imam says he says IM the first thing he mentions is
[29:51]Modesty Chastity you would think that oh are we talking about femininity
[29:59]or or masculinity no no Imam says no this is masculinity manliness
[30:03]is to have a little bit of shyness with nonaham women some
[30:10]brothers need to really cool it down bit too bold and comfortable
[30:20]with the opposite gender IM when he came to to ask for
[30:26]the hand of fa a purely Hal Endeavor he sits beside the
[30:35]prophet Ali have you come for for something the narration say that
[30:46]was too shy to ask for the hand of FAA it's good
[30:48]to be shy we have to have a little bit of ha
[30:53]this is of all of the who did trust to escort the
[31:04]from meca to Medina because a real man can be trusted with
[31:13]women he doesn't send others he sends Ali and this is before
[31:20]the marriage of Ali and Fa Ali is there escorting his mother
[31:25]the daughter of the Prophet the daughter of Hamza because is you
[31:31]know in the Quran Allah he describes M he's yes we know
[31:36]physical strength is important but you know what else is important moral
[31:40]strength you are trustworthy not just with money you're trustworthy with people's
[31:47]daughters you're trustworthy with other women IM says there needs to be
[31:55]a little bit of formality a real man doesn't sit around with
[32:02]girls smoking shisha and laughing I'm sorry I know I'm in Dearborn
[32:05]and these are controversial statements but the truth is the truth this
[32:10]is not they weren't sitting around laughing and giggling with with with
[32:19]women this is not this is this is what mua does you're
[32:22]this this is you're this is a different camp we have a
[32:28]narration from he says the prophet used to say Salam to women
[32:43]and the women would respond you know sometimes the prophet teaches you
[32:54]something and then might give you another lesson that you need to
[33:02]learn used to also greet women he used to say Salam to
[33:15]them he used to say Salam to women but he would not
[33:22]it was not his Habit to initiate Salam with young ladies because
[33:27]Ali he has that shyness you might say it's must to sayam
[33:33]yes it's must but sometimes the must ends up you're sitting at
[33:39]Starbucks with this nonaham girl and your by the way you shouldn't
[33:42]go to Starbucks we have to maybe dunin don't us I don't
[33:46]know maybe they're all boycotted I don't know sometimes you might think
[33:51]and this is how Shan Works he gets you through and then
[33:54]you're you're in the depths of he's teaching us that a true
[34:04]man exercises caution especially when it comes to younger ladies you shouldn't
[34:06]kid yourself there is a natural attraction between men and women you
[34:11]have to understand this and it's a very Noble quality to be
[34:17]reserved when you interact with the opposite gender there's a a an
[34:24]interesting narration that we find in this is one of our most
[34:30]important important Hadith collections on Islamic law this narration many of you
[34:37]might be familiar with Abu Bas Abu Bas was one of the
[34:43]distinguished Companions of IM and IM the narration say says it's from
[34:52]him he's he's reporting this incident he says Abu B who was
[35:02]incidentally he was blind he says that I used to teach a
[35:05]lady Quran he was a Quran teacher for a lady he says
[35:20]one day I was joking with her during class that's it's a
[35:24]Quran class I don't know how he slipped in a joke but
[35:27]he slipped in a joke right it's the ancient way of sliding
[35:30]into DMS so he said I was joking with her and then
[35:41]later I went to visit now we know in our theology that
[35:49]our they receive the record of our they know they know what
[35:55]you what you've been up to they know about all of your
[36:00]your likes on social media sometimes I think man how embarrassing is
[36:03]it for us that every week you like this post you like
[36:06]that post this is what the Imam has to read about our
[36:11]behavior on social media so in any case he Co he goes
[36:18]to the IM and the IM he says to him he says
[36:24]what did you do he says he says what did you say
[36:37]to that lady the narration says he said I covered my face
[36:48]in shame that the Imam knew he knew what I was what
[36:52]I did look at what imak says without mincing any words he
[37:01]says you're not allowed to go back and teach her our imams
[37:03]they have zero tolerance for this Behavior if you cannot control yourself
[37:09]if you don't have discipline if you cannot control your impulses take
[37:13]yourself out of these environments this is the imams did not accept
[37:20]this type of behavior from their students from their companions now what
[37:23]I'd like to do brothers and sisters I want to share with
[37:28]you you an Ayah of the Quran and the Ayah and you
[37:33]can you can open up your your phone and I hope you
[37:35]have a Quran app in addition to all of the other apps
[37:42]that you have Surah Surah 20 Ayah n and Ayah number 10
[37:46]two verses from these two verses together we're going to extrapolate 10
[37:57]principles of Manliness from this Ayah and this hopefully will inspire you
[38:07]to engage more with the Quran one Ayah yes one Ayah we
[38:11]can derive many lessons on the concept of now what is the
[38:20]Ayah mus Allah is speaking to the prophet has the story of
[38:26]Musa come to you are you familiar with the story of M
[38:30]and then Allah says what in the next Ayah to give you
[38:44]a little bit of context many of you if not all of
[38:49]you are familiar with the story of M and the Quran we
[38:51]know that he killed a Coptic in Egypt he had to flee
[38:56]he stayed with SH for 10 years he got married to the
[38:59]daughter of sh he worked the farm and then after 10 years
[39:05]he decided that it's time to go back to Egypt he felt
[39:09]a sense of responsibility towards B is they're still being subjugated by
[39:14]so he takes his family and they're traveling from Medan back to
[39:20]Egypt he gets lost in the middle of the desert as they
[39:25]are traveling it's nighttime so imagine there's no there's no Map Quest
[39:32]or GPS they're in the middle of the desert no it's pitch
[39:35]black you're walking through the desert wild animals it's freezing you have
[39:44]your wife your children with you he says to his family I
[39:53]see a fire he was the only one who could see see
[39:59]the fire no one else could see it the first principle of
[40:05]is that a a man needs to be hyper Vigilant and aware
[40:13]of his surroundings you shouldn't be oblivious Musa doesn't have tunnel vision
[40:18]he is able to see the Distant Fire the first principle is
[40:32]a man has to be aware you have to have awareness you
[40:34]need to be vigilant this is number one number two he says
[40:45]what he says to his family stay here the first thing that
[40:53]comes to mind is what his family he thinks about his family
[40:58]first one of the most important qualities of a man is they
[41:04]have a family first mentality this is the second quality oful the
[41:16]third is M assesses the risks and the dangers part of being
[41:25]a man means that you have to do some risk evaluation risk
[41:29]assessment it is dangerous to leave the family in the middle of
[41:37]this open desert at night and it's also dangerous to climb up
[41:43]this mountain and go to an unknown destination but what is more
[41:50]dangerous taking them into the unknown or keeping them where they are
[41:56]there are two dangers he chooses the lesser of the two dangers
[42:03]M as a man he is able to assess danger levels okay
[42:11]the next thing that we find is he says to his family
[42:19]wait here I'm going to go up that mountain because maybe I
[42:26]can get some firewood or some guidance notice that there is one
[42:33]person who makes the final decision have you ever heard of the
[42:38]expression too many chefs spoil the soup in a family you need
[42:41]one person who's going to make the final decision he is that
[42:49]unified singular voice he provides that leadership he takes that initiative he
[42:54]is managing this crisis he doesn't delegate it to someone else the
[43:07]next principle oful in the Ayah is a a real man as
[43:16]a leader he consults and he explains the rationale behind his decisions
[43:21]he's explaining why he's going up to the mountain he doesn't just
[43:27]say stay here I'll I'll be back he doesn't leave them in
[43:30]the dark he explains the rationale he is consultative because if you
[43:38]don't con your family will forgive you for making poor decisions but
[43:43]they won't forgive you for not Consulting he consults he explains he
[43:49]explains the rationale because he wants to build their confidence in him
[43:56]he offers that rationale and he also speaks to everyone in the
[44:01]family who's going to be affected by this decision he doesn't just
[44:06]speak to his wife he says to his entire family he he
[44:12]speaks to everyone who is going to be impacted by the decision
[44:19]notice that he says what he says [Music] he says I'm going
[44:38]to go up to this fire because maybe I will get some
[44:43]firewood or some guidance what we learn Here My Dear brothers and
[44:48]sisters is that one of the qualities of a real man is
[44:53]that he does not promise what is not assured he doesn't say
[44:59]for sure I'm going to get firewood for sure I'm going to
[45:02]get guidance he says maybe he's very careful with his words he
[45:08]doesn't overpromise there is nothing that diminishes your credibility as a man
[45:14]more than unfulfilled promises he says next you see that he prioriti
[45:29]he's able to not he's not only able to assess risk he
[45:36]also understands which needs are more of a priority he says I
[45:40]will maybe I will bring back some firewood or I will find
[45:43]some directions what is more of a priority when you're in the
[45:50]middle of the night a winter night the immediate need is what
[45:54]warmth and Fire a secondary need is what direction so we can
[46:02]find our way he is able to prioritize the needs he's in
[46:09]tune another principle of in this Ayah is that he's optimistic he's
[46:18]not the one who's saying guys we're lost we're going to die
[46:23]in the middle of the desert every man for himself he's not
[46:28]pessimistic he says maybe I'll get some firewood maybe I can find
[46:32]some guidance he keeps in mind that I have to keep the
[46:36]morale of my family high he doesn't have this negative pessimistic mentality
[46:42]this is the job of a you have to provide that morale
[46:49]you have to be an optimistic realist you can be a realist
[46:53]but be optimistic be hopeful and then finally what does he do
[46:57]he says in right he he takes responsibility for this decision he
[47:04]consults but by saying in and then I'm going to go do
[47:10]this and I'm going to go do that he's essentially highlighting that
[47:13]standing up and assuming leader leadership necessitates that I bear the responsibility
[47:20]of things go wrong the buck stops with you this is this
[47:27]is the the meaning of you see one Ayah of the Quran
[47:33]there is so much that we can extrapolate and I'll end with
[47:36]this my dear brothers and sisters another important quality of a man
[47:43]is the things that occupy your thoughts what actually bothers you in
[47:50]life what disturbs you are you the type of guy where it's
[47:55]the end of the world if I don't get get the meal
[47:58]that I want or if I'm not driving the car that I
[47:59]want are these the things that really bring you down and make
[48:04]you upset the things that bother you and irritate you indicate how
[48:12]big you are as a man or how small you are as
[48:15]a man in sermon 27 it's a very sad and the context
[48:26]of it is that after the battle of s mua starts to
[48:34]send tribes throughout Iraq to pillage Villages and towns he's trying to
[48:40]disrupt Security in the government of Amir one of these tribes they
[48:48]raid a village and these men muawiya's men they steal the ankle
[48:59]bracelets and the necklaces and the earrings of Muslim women and non-muslim
[49:10]women when receives news that this Village was pillaged Imam he says
[49:24]that news has reached me that this that a city was pillaged
[49:32]by a certain tribe and they snatched away the jewelry of women
[49:35]and these poor women they were so helpless that all they could
[49:40]do was cry out and beg for mercy and then the Imam
[49:48]he shifts his attention to the men who were living in that
[49:51]Village he says that these men they came they violated these women
[50:01]they didn't kill the women they took their ankle bracelets they took
[50:08]their earrings is shocked he says how is it possible that there
[50:21]were men in that Village and they allowed these Intruders to take
[50:27]jewelry from poor women how did you allow them to escape unscathed
[50:35]how did you not inflict damage upon them how did you not
[50:40]shed the blood of these criminals and then the Imam says IM
[50:55]he says if a Muslim man were to hear about this story
[51:02]that Muslim women and non-muslim women had their private possessions confiscated Imam
[51:11]says if a man were to die of grief because of this
[51:17]oppression I would not blame him I would consider him to be
[51:27]an honorable man a real man what what what what aggravates a
[51:32]real man more than anything is is oppression a real man his
[51:43]top priority is to ensure that the marginalized the weak the vulnerable
[51:48]are not exploited this is what should occupy your thoughts this is
[51:55]what should matter to you this is the mark of real man
[52:01]what matters to you is going to dictate the type of man
[52:04]that you are we ask Allah subhana tal to bless us and
