[0:22]like to begin tonight's program with the recitation of the holy quran

[0:25]from our dear brother hassan karimi so please help me welcome him

[4:12]on [Applause] [Applause] [Music] oh wow a [Music] on behalf of the

[7:03]muslim youth connection i would like to welcome you all to our

[7:05]2021 ramadan ramadan program we hope that this month is filled with

[7:11]blessings for all of you and your families insha'allah before we begin

[7:17]i have a few announcements to make for the safety of all

[7:22]throughout the duration of this program please ensure that you are wearing

[7:25]a face mask the whole time and please ensure that your seats

[7:30]are properly distanced from a part also another announcement please stay tuned

[7:35]for our layout through cutter details on our social media which will

[7:40]begin insha'allah this friday also tomorrow thursday night at 10 p.m insha'allah

[7:45]we will have dua al-iftitah with musculus azad on behalf of those

[7:53]whom we've lost due to kovitt 19.

[9:50]inshallah i'm look for looking forward to the next two weeks to

[9:57]be with you every night in sha allah and i hope we

[9:59]can learn from the lessons of the month of ramadan we can

[10:03]seek nearness to the almighty through these lectures and i ask allah

[10:08]to accept our during this blessed month of ramadan and to grant

[10:13]us the ultimate prize of fasting during the month of ramadan which

[10:17]is piety taqwa as the holy quran says throughout history we have

[10:30]remarkable examples of individuals that changed on the one hand there were

[10:38]people who spent their entire lives on the path of evil they

[10:42]were far from god but they managed to change they transformed themselves

[10:48]into pious believers stories of criminals of thugs of enemies of ahlul

[10:57]baits enemies of god individuals that had drowned in a life of

[11:02]sin and disobedience to god but they were able to turn the

[11:09]tides they were able to transform themselves into righteous pious individuals they

[11:14]return to allah azzawajal these individuals are what we call as having

[11:23]is when you have a good ending to your life you die

[11:27]as a pious individual irrespective of how you lived throughout your life

[11:30]but you are able to end it in a beautiful way this

[11:35]is called and on the contrary we have examples of people who

[11:42]spent their entire lives on the right side with god on the

[11:47]path of god with the truth they were righteous believers they were

[11:51]pious but they transformed for the worst towards the end of their

[11:58]lives they fell down and deviated and sometimes even apostatized we have

[12:03]such examples of individuals that could not stay on the right path

[12:08]for so many years they were on the right path they were

[12:10]righteous believers muammans but towards the end of their lives they changed

[12:15]and they turned their back on god these individuals are what we

[12:22]call as having meaning they had the worst ending they died disbeliever

[12:26]disbelieving in god as disbeliever is far away from allah azzawajal so

[12:31]we have both of these groups throughout history he explains this fact

[12:38]to his son imam hussain in one of the hadith he tells

[12:45]al-imam al-hussein he says there are so many people my dear son

[12:53]who spent their lives with sin they would constantly sin every sin

[13:01]in the book they would do it backbiting drinking they would have

[13:06]so many unlawful relationships with others every haram they would do it

[13:10]they never came to the masjid they never prayed every haram they

[13:14]would do and they would never be found in areas where allah

[13:19]would be worshiped and pleased but the imam says but they managed

[13:23]to end their life in a beautiful way they changed towards the

[13:26]end of their lives and they had a good ending and then

[13:31]the imam tells them hussain amir no meaning tells the son and

[13:43]there are people who throughout their lives they did so many good

[13:46]deeds they want to hajj they went to ziyarah they used to

[13:50]pray every week every musta have recommended act they were mormons pure

[13:54]but towards the end they changed and they destroyed all that legacy

[14:01]that they had and as we said this is what we call

[14:04]now the question is why why are there some people bad people

[14:09]that towards the end of their life after such a long life

[14:14]of sin all of a sudden they transform for the better and

[14:17]why are there good people that after a life of obedience to

[14:22]god all of a sudden they turn their backs on god doesn't

[14:25]just randomly happen or are there factors that lead to this and

[14:29]this is what what i want to speak about tonight and the

[14:31]next following night what are the factors that lead to a person

[14:36]changing their faith their iman either for the better or for the

[14:42]worse and there are two messages brothers and sisters that i want

[14:46]to send first is a message of hope for those individuals that

[14:49]are far from god even if they had a life of disobedience

[14:53]and sin and they never were religious they shouldn't lose hope because

[14:57]it's possible for them to change because we have examples of people

[15:01]who were the worst of god's creation but they overnight sometimes they

[15:07]change to the best of god's creation so never lose hope in

[15:11]allah and always have iman that you can end your life in

[15:16]a good way and the second message is a message of warning

[15:20]to the believers do not be carried away with your iman do

[15:23]not feel too proud and good about it because it's not guaranteed

[15:29]that your iman will last till the last day of your life

[15:31]and as i will explain explain through stories and examples great individuals

[15:37]who were the closest servants of god they fell down and they

[15:41]deviated from the path of the truth so we shouldn't feel too

[15:47]comfortable alhamdulillah now i love imam ali i will always be in

[15:50]sha allah we will but there is no guarantee for any person

[15:54]no matter how much you love imam ali now there is no

[15:59]guarantee that you will stay on the path of imam ali to

[16:03]the last day of your life as we will explain in sha

[16:04]allah so i will begin with i'll give you examples of people

[16:12]who were great but they fell and slipped the first and foremost

[16:18]example that we have of is one of the companions of rasulullah

[16:23]by the name of zubair as jubair was the cousin of the

[16:30]prophet and during the life of the prophet he was one of

[16:34]the best and most loyal companions of the prophet he was always

[16:37]with imam ali in the battles imam ali is fighting the enemies

[16:42]and on the other side is a zubail amongst the most loyal

[16:45]amongst the most brave companions of the prophet that when he used

[16:49]to see him you would say this man is a lucky man

[16:51]that he has this conviction in rasulullah he's not afraid of death

[16:55]he would go towards the enemies and fight and when the holy

[17:01]prophet died many of the companions of the prophet as you've heard

[17:05]i'm sure they neglected imam ali they abandoned him as zubair was

[17:09]one of those select few companions that did not neglect imam ali

[17:15]that did not abandon him salman al-pharasi who was probably the greatest

[17:20]companion of the prophet he says that when imam when the prophet

[17:25]died and there was the fitna that happened after that and imam

[17:30]ali was sidelined was taken away from him he says imam ali

[17:36]went to all the sahaba all the companions of the prophet and

[17:39]he asked ask them one by one to support him you know

[17:43]some people they ask why didn't imam ali ask for his right

[17:46]right many people asked this who told you he didn't ask for

[17:50]his right he went and he mobilized every single one of the

[17:54]companions he went with father they knocked the doors of each one

[17:58]of the houses of the muhajireen and the ansar the companions of

[18:01]the prophet you would tell them remember the prophet just a few

[18:03]days ago he said i am the khalifah i am the imam

[18:06]of the muslims i am the leader i am the successor what

[18:08]happened now you neglected me and you chose someone else they would

[18:11]promise to support him but it was all fake promises they would

[18:15]never show up ali would say okay tomorrow i meet you in

[18:18]this specific place none of them would show up so salman in

[18:22]pharisee says that after the prophet died there was only four people

[18:29]that supported imam ali with their life they were willing to do

[18:33]anything for imam ali number one was himself salman number two was

[18:38]also one of the greatest companions of the prophet number three was

[18:46]and number four was so you can imagine what a legend this

[18:52]man was that he was amongst the thousand companions of rasulullah he

[18:56]was only one of four that stood by imam ali and when

[19:00]he saw imam ali was being dragged to the masjid so that

[19:04]he would give forcefully hizbah as zubair he unleashed a sword and

[19:08]he wanted to fight but imam ali told him no we don't

[19:12]have supporters it's just me you and just a couple of other

[19:16]companions we don't have supporters and he did not he refused to

[19:18]give his allegiance to anyone but but imam ali so you can

[19:22]see his iman salman [Applause] he was the most one that had

[19:37]faith in imam ali that had conviction in imam alibaba is when

[19:41]you believe in something so when he supported imam ali he really

[19:45]believed in imam ali so he was probably those days when the

[19:49]prophet died he was probably number one and when fatima to zahara

[19:57]alaika died when she was on her deathbed she gave her will

[20:00]to imam ali she told him what she wants to be done

[20:04]after she dies and usually when you write a will or you

[20:06]you don't necessarily have to write your will you can even you

[20:09]know say it orally usually you have witnesses right witnesses that hear

[20:16]that sign the paper so told imam ali that i have three

[20:19]witnesses over my will you can imagine these three individuals are the

[20:25]purest of god creations now of course number one she said allah

[20:28]god is my first witness number two is so you can see

[20:37]how close az zubair was to imam ali and fatima that she

[20:40]selected him to be a witness for her will imam ali alayhi

[20:45]salaam says hadith that zubair was so close to us that he

[20:51]was a member of ahlulbait he's not just a companion of al-urbait

[20:55]but he is indeed one of the members of albert you know

[21:00]i only know two companions of rasulullah that reached such a high

[21:05]level that the prophet or the imams they considered them amongst albeit

[21:08]not a companion of one was salman in pharisee and the other

[21:13]one is zubair says he was during that time he was so

[21:16]close that he was a member of admin bait so this is

[21:20]just i'm telling you of his history of how unbelievable this man

[21:24]was how remarkable how great how pious as zubair was that he

[21:30]became a member of ahlulbait do you know how azerbair abner died

[21:35]you will not believe it as many years later he died fighting

[21:40]against imam ali you imagine a worse death than fighting to kill

[21:49]imam ali after he used the sword to protect the prophet and

[21:51]protect him ali now he had come to fight al-imam you see

[21:56]how he's he fell down from the skies and he turned into

[22:00]one of the worst creation of god because you're fighting imam ali

[22:03]salah it was the battle of jamal on one side is imam

[22:08]ali in his army on the other side there is aisha the

[22:12]wife of the prophet and zubair they have come to fight the

[22:16]imam of their time imam ali he sees zubair has showed up

[22:20]he's so upset what happened to you zubair he used to be

[22:24]amongst the closest companions of the prophet amongst the closest members of

[22:27]albeit so he calls on zubair zubair i want to speak up

[22:32]to you the imam is writing the mule of the holy prophet

[22:35]zubair comes to him he tells him oh zubair i want to

[22:40]remind you of a story he says remember maybe 30 40 years

[22:45]ago one day the prophet asked you a question he told you

[22:47]oh zubair do you love imam ali and you said of course

[22:51]you know as we say well what type of question is this

[22:52]of course i love imam ali he's my cousin first of all

[22:56]they were cousins and number two imam ali the best companion of

[23:03]rasulullah the prophet told him oh zubair a day will come in

[23:06]which you will fight against imam ali you are on the wrong

[23:09]path and he is on the right path you are an oppressor

[23:12]and he will be the oppressed az zubair could not believe it

[23:17]he told him fight imam ali no way he said yes so

[23:21]then he swore ya rasulallah i swear i will never do that.

[23:25]but subhanallah 30 40 years after he forgot so the imam told

[23:29]him do you remember that day i said subhanallah yes i remember

[23:35]now i had forgotten about the story but now i remember you're

[23:39]right that day has that prophecy of the prophet has come true

[23:43]so now the conscience of zubair began to rebuke him and bother

[23:47]him he retreated he said i don't want to fight anymore.

[23:51]what am i doing i'm fighting imam ali alayhi so he retreated

[23:55]and he said i won't fight who came to him his son

[23:57]his son was the exact opposite he was a devil abdullah the

[24:02]son of zubair was a devil he came to him father where

[24:04]are you going he said i'm going because imam ali reminded me

[24:09]of the story of the what the prophet told me and i

[24:11]have realized that i am what i'm doing is wrong so his

[24:15]son wanted to discourage him my dear father you know what people

[24:20]will say about us they will say that you basically chickened out

[24:23]that you were afraid of imam ali and that's why you left

[24:27]it's not because of the hadith of the prophet they will think

[24:31]that you are a coward and this will be the biggest embarrassment

[24:34]and stigma against us so zubair said what can i do i

[24:39]swore to i you know i promised the prophet and i promised

[24:44]him that i'm going to retreat he told them you know what

[24:46]just pay a kafara pay a fine how do i pay a

[24:49]fine he says you have a slave right free the slave of

[24:53]yours and you don't have to worry about your oath that you

[24:56]made he said fine and then he tricked him even further he

[24:59]told him my dear father we're not even here to fight who

[25:02]said we're here to fight maybe we can reconcile between the two

[25:08]armies make him maybe we can find peace he was just trying

[25:10]to fool his father because he didn't want him to leave he

[25:12]said you know what that sounds good yeah we won't fight we

[25:17]will make peace now the son knew that there's going to be

[25:19]bloodshed and thousands of people killed but he fooled his father and

[25:24]subhanallah this is how the shaitaan sometimes he fools us and manipulates

[25:29]us inshallah in the following i'll speak about some of the tactics

[25:33]of the shaytan one of the tactics the quran says when he

[25:36]justifies he makes bad acts look good in your eyes fighting imam

[25:40]ali all the sudden looked good it looked like peace to him

[25:45]right he justified staying in that army against imam ali you know

[25:48]what i'm not going to fight i will make peace zubair had

[25:52]no opportunity to make peace zubair hours later was killed by one

[25:56]of the soldiers of imam ali ali that soldier he brought the

[26:03]sword of az-zubair and the ring that zubair would always wear he

[26:07]brought it and he placed it in front of him and he

[26:12]said what is this he said this is the sword in the

[26:16]ring of zubair the imam looked at it and the imam was

[26:18]so disappointed so upset that this is how this legend zubair came

[26:26]down he died fighting imam ali the imam looked at the sword

[26:29]of zubair and he said this you see the sword the sword

[26:38]for years was the same sword that protected the holy prophet that

[26:43]brought comfort to the heart of rasulullah but this very same sword

[26:47]had come today to fight the successor of rasulullah how unfortunate one

[26:52]day you're fighting with imam ali and one day you're fighting against

[26:57]him what happened to az zubair that he fell such a huge

[27:03]such a huge in a way and thus zubair became the example

[27:06]brothers and sisters when you're good but all of a sudden you

[27:11]fall down and you become a terrible person after a life of

[27:17]so much sacrifices after being an angel you fall and you become

[27:21]worse than the devil zubair became the example of this now brothers

[27:29]and sisters none of us here i guarantee you neither me or

[27:34]any one of you here is eve isn't even half as good

[27:39]as zubair was during the time of the prophet when the prophet

[27:41]died zubaid was much greater than all of us his conviction in

[27:47]the prophet and imam ali and the sacrifices that he made we

[27:51]will never even be one half of what zubair was before of

[27:56]course he changed but changed but zubair died the worst death fighting

[28:00]the imam of his time now what does this teach us if

[28:04]it teaches us one lesson it's this that no one is immune

[28:08]from deviating from the path of allah it doesn't matter how righteous

[28:14]you are it doesn't matter how many prayers you've prayed how many

[28:17]times you've went to hajj how much sadaqa you've given how much

[28:20]you've donated how many times you visited the imams in iraq and

[28:26]iran that all of that doesn't matter because it's possible that any

[28:31]second i could slip and fall and deviate just as a zubair

[28:36]did and that's why brothers and sisters don't be carried away there

[28:39]are some people you know what they do they sin all the

[28:41]time and they say i'm a shia imam ali salam right they

[28:45]are wearing that sword of imam ali imam ali will save me

[28:49]in the grave imam ali will save me on the day of

[28:52]judgment how do you know you will not be like zubair you

[28:54]die hating imam ali you say this is a fiction this is

[28:58]the story of the companion of rasulullah he relied on the love

[29:01]of imam ali but he died fighting against imam ali salah that's

[29:05]why we should never feel like there's a guarantee that i'm a

[29:08]man now i will always be a movement we have to always

[29:13]be alert and cautious never put your guard down as soon as

[29:16]you put your guard down for one minute you could fail you

[29:21]can miserably come down and lose everything so we always have to

[29:25]be vigilant look at what the prophet says in one hadith he

[29:27]says in this hadith the prophet says that the believer is never

[29:46]assured that he will always be a mu'min he is never guaranteed

[29:48]that he will not have su al-aqba he won't change he never

[29:53]has that guarantee he's always afraid he's always anxious will i always

[29:56]be a man or will a day come that i will change

[29:59]and i will turn my back on god and i will disbelieve

[30:03]and i will go back to haram and go back to sins

[30:05]the man is never assured he's always afraid until one you know

[30:09]when you have that guarantee he says when you see the angel

[30:13]of death when the angel of death comes to take your soul

[30:15]you say alhamdulillah i made it i managed to live 70 80

[30:21]years and i didn't change and i didn't go back and i

[30:23]didn't turn my back on allah azza that's the only time you

[30:27]can say that i'm guaranteed now i'm happy i'm okay or else

[30:31]before that as long as you're still breathing and you're not dead

[30:34]only allah knows what happens now yes it could be rare but

[30:38]the possibility is there that i could change and i lose my

[30:43]iman and i go back to the haram and go back to

[30:46]sins so this example of zubair brothers and sisters should be a

[30:50]lesson to every single one of us no matter how great you

[30:55]become do not feel too proud about that that this will continue

[30:57]a day could come or i can change and fall now this

[31:00]is one example and i'll give you another example absolutely the other

[31:05]example was a man by the name of muhammad ali mahani he

[31:12]was a grand scholar he was he was a merger you know

[31:17]we have now like the greatest ulama of our time he was

[31:20]a merger of his time he lived during the small of the

[31:24]12th imam you know the imam when he went in the occultation

[31:27]he had a minor reba that was about 70 years in that

[31:32]minor riba he had ambassadors and he would communicate with his followers

[31:38]only through the ambassadors and then after the 70 years the large

[31:41]riba the major raba the major occultation began and we live now

[31:47]in the major rayban so during the small raiba the minor raiba

[31:50]one of the scholars of the school of thought of ah bait

[31:56]was this man muhammad ali he was the greatest scholar of the

[32:01]shia world all the shi'a knew him they loved him they followed

[32:06]him and in fact the traditions state that every house every house

[32:10]of the shia they contained one of his publications i mean this

[32:15]is how popular he was every house had his famous book of

[32:19]laws where he taught the laws of salah and so so forth

[32:22]so this man was you know was the top of the top

[32:25]the best of the best the second ambassador of al-imam al-mahdi died

[32:31]all of a sudden his name was uthman muhammad now the imam

[32:36]is going to choose a third ambassador who is it going to

[32:40]be everyone has their eyes on who on this man muhammad ali

[32:44]because he was on the forefront of the list who's better than

[32:48]him so he was the top candidate for being the third ambassador

[32:53]of imam al-mahdi and he himself he was waiting until when the

[32:58]imam calls him tells him you're going to be my third ambassador

[33:00]but all of a sudden to everyone's surprise and imam al-mahdi chooses

[33:04]someone else someone else that isn't even known his name is al-hussein

[33:11]wasn't someone popular and grand scholar but he had piety he had

[33:16]righteousness he was a righteous individual imam al-mahdi he sends a letter

[33:25]that al-hussein be my is ambassador this man went crazy he chooses

[33:29]someone else and not me the envy that he had brothers and

[33:33]sisters eventually destroyed him you know what he did he started to

[33:38]fabricate letters and send it to people claiming that this is from

[33:44]the imam the imam chose me and then he would tell all

[33:48]these lies and attribute it to the imam that wasn't enough he

[33:51]got worse and worse until you know what he did one day

[33:53]he claimed that he was god he claimed that he was god

[33:59]like like the pharaoh of musa subhanallah this merger who was so

[34:03]highly respected he is the greatest scholar of the shia world because

[34:10]of his envy that he had and he was so upset that

[34:14]the imam didn't choose him he eventually became a disbeliever and he

[34:21]claimed that he was god so obviously was very upset at this

[34:26]the imam issued a letter imam al-mahdi issued a letter and he

[34:33]condemned this man and he cursed him subhanallah he wanted to be

[34:38]the ambassador of the imam from being you know a potential ambassador

[34:41]of the imam you become someone that the imam curses you by

[34:46]your name do you know do you know how terrible this might

[34:49]have felt for this man you know if many times we hear

[34:53]stories if us if someone just sees al-imam al-mahdi in the in

[34:56]the major occultation for a second you know this will this is

[35:01]the greatest gift of god for your entire life that you can

[35:02]meet the imam for a second right imagine if the imam meets

[35:06]you and he curses you all happened to you this wasn't an

[35:09]ordinary man he was the best of the best he fell down

[35:13]and the imam cursed him and then he was arrested because he

[35:17]started to claim he's got he was arrested by the authorities by

[35:19]the government and he was eventually executed for claiming to be god

[35:25]they considered him a heretic was claiming to be god and he

[35:30]was killed while he was a cafe i mean you cannot think

[35:34]of a worst ending for this poor man who was an angel

[35:37]who was the best the most honorable person but this was his

[35:42]end why because he had a weak spot has a weak spot

[35:43]was what what was envy shall speak about envy in the following

[35:48]nights so these are some examples that highlight this fact brothers and

[35:52]sisters that if you are a man now there is no guarantee

[35:55]that my iman will always stay there are factors that may drag

[35:59]you that may pull you from iman remember like this man his

[36:03]problem was what his problem was envy as zubair imam ali al-islam

[36:12]says was always with us a part of us albeit until his

[36:17]son was born his son abdullah is the one that kept on

[36:20]pressuring him and whispering and he was the one that made him

[36:26]deviate so we never know none of us is immune we could

[36:28]have an evil friend that will what that will make us drift

[36:31]that will make us turn our backs on god it could be

[36:34]envy because i'm endless it could be greed so we'll speak about

[36:38]the factors in sha allah tomorrow i'll speak about the factors that

[36:42]lead to al-aqba so that we can be alert and we have

[36:45]to make sure to be aware of these different factors that lead

[36:50]to a believer disbelieving and allah azzawajal surat al-fatiha for all the

[37:10]mu'min that have passed away after a loud salawat for muhammad
