It is very recommended to recite it during the month of Sha'ban, but it can also be read at any other time of the year. The words and meaning are extremely profound and beautiful. It has been narrated by Ibn Khalawayh who commented on it, saying, “This is the prayer of Imam Ali Amir ul-Mu'mineen and the Holy Imams, his descendants, (PBUH) who used to recite it in the month of Sha'baan."
