Thursday Night Majlis at KSIMC of London, Stanmore
22nd of June 2023

Please click on CC for subtitles

Parents are having a key position in the life of both: the individual and family; that is why, not only has Holy Qur'an mentioned their greatness; on the contrary, on five occasions, it has mentioned fulfillment of their rights with monotheism and worship of God. [2:83, 4:36, 6:151, 17:23, 31:83]

After divine monotheism, obedience of parents and behaving nicely with them is more important than all obligatory duties, whereas failure in this regard is the greatest sin after polytheism [Al-Mizan, Vol. 38, Pg. 31]

So having understood this, what have we done with our parents? Have we fulfilled the rights of our parents upon us? How can we be dutiful to our parents? Have we fully recognised their importance in our lives?

Arrival of the Divine Breeze of Muharram

After the Alam (flag) raising ceremony at KSIMC of London, Stanmore

Short lecture by Mohammed Habib Mukhtarali

Shaykh Muhammad M. Khalfan writes:

'In a well-known prophetic dictum we are told, "Indeed your Lord has Breaths of His Mercy in the days of Your time - so expose yourselves to them!" (Majlisi, Bihar al-Anwar, v.68, p. 221).

Muharram is an occasion when we can expose ourselves to the Breaths of Divine Mercy. We must therefore try to actively participate in gatherings of lamentation for Abu Abdillah al-Husayn ('a) so that we are embraced with special divine grace that covers the true mourning ones. The insightful scholars say that it is these very meaningful lamentations that can facilitate the spiritual ascension of the aspirant of absolute perfection. Therefore let the pandemic not hamper us from a powerful and constant participation in this Divine Banquet of His Special Mercy! Brothers and sisters, it is raining heavily, and our state of is that of a drought stricken land. Is it not time to expose this rain to the lands of our hearts? Let us not allow a day to pass without reflection, mourning and lamentation about the life of our hearts - al-Husayn, for it is this very sacrificing spirit who practically showed the visage of a true lover in Karbala.'

The Supplication of Thughoor, for the success and wellbeing of the people of the frontiers (those who protect the frontiers of Muslim territories) from Sahifatus Sajjadiya (Psalm of Islam) of our 4th Imam, Imam Sajjad (AS).

This Dua (supplication) is highly recommended especially at this time of crisis. Many of our Shia scholars have urged all the followers of Ahlulbayt (AS) to recite this Dua (supplication) daily so that total victory could be achieved for the Muslims over the evil satanic forces.

9. Recite specific supplications on the Arafah day.

The ninth of Dhu’l-Hijjah is one of the most important day in Islam. On this day, Almighty Allah commanded His servants to obey and worship Him. He thus extended for them the tables of His benevolence and magnanimity. On this day too, Satan becomes abject, lowly, expelled, and angry more than any other day. It is narrated that Imam Zayn al-Abideen (AS), on the ninth of Dhu’l-Hijjah, heard someone begging people for financial aid. The Imam (AS) said to him: "Woe is you! On such a day, do you beg other than Almighty Allah? On this day, even fetuses in wombs are expected to be included with the mercy of Almighty Allah and they will be delighted.

Many supplicatory prayers and acts of worship are reported to be done on this day for those who have the honor of being present on Mount `Arafat. However, the best deed on this day is to pray Almighty Allah, since the most distinctive feature of the `Arafat Day is praying. It is thus advisable to pray Him for the good of one’s brethren and sisters, the alive and the dead.

May Allah SWT accept your A'maal and fulfil all your Haj'aat on this very important day.

Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Power (The program list of the A'maal is listed below)

Eve of Destiny (Laylatul Qadr) is the night, which is the most blessed and excellent of all nights. A prayer during this night is superior to the prayer of a thousand months. The destiny for the year is decided on this night. The Angels and Roohul Ameen (a highly dignified Angel) descend on this earth, with the permission of Allah (SWT) & call on the Imam of the time, and what is ordained (by Allah) for everybody is presented before the Imam (May Allah SWT hasten his reappearance). (duas.org)

It is reported in Hadith that whoever keeps awake on the nights of Qadr shall have his/her sins forgiven, even if they equal the number of the stars in the heaven.

A'maal of the 21st Night of Ramadhan 1441 (Thursday 14th May 2020):

1. Recite two Raka’t Salaat, in every Rakat: recite Surah al-Hamd and Surah Ikhlaas 7 times. (For seeking protection against sinning for the seven organs)

The Whispered Prayers, is a collection of 15 intimate conversations with Allah SWT and the 15 Whispered Prayers are extracted from the book of Imam Zainul Abideen A.S - known as Sahifa Sajjadiya, also known famously as the Psalms of Islam.

Munajaat means "talking" or "having a conversation". In this case, it is the intimate conversations of our Imam with his Lord. Conversing with God regularly is true spirituality, and these conversations between Imam Sajjad (as) and God will really open our eyes. Again, there are conversations for different spiritual
states, such as being fearful, hopeful and thankful. Conversing with Allah according to our current spiritual state will only serve to enhance our relationship with him. (al-islam.org)

The prayers start with 'repentance', as repentance is the first step towards a genuine communion with God.

Reaching the tent of Imam Mahdi (A.S) - Professor Muhammad Shojaee with English Subtitles

The sentiment of love is permanent and not momentary. The next grade of love to Imam (A.S) should be devotion and for that you will have to cross the Siraat Bridge. Devotion, which demands sacrifice of self, life, wealth and children; and sacrifice is given for one higher to us. This is the time of sacrifice and tomorrow shall be the time of accounting. Imam knows the intentions. In his court there is welcome for intention, sincerity and devotion. Cunning and deceit will be of no use. He is aware of imaginative scenes and backgrounds. There is reward for intention with him. He is from a family, who do a good turn to their killer. He can overlook the errors of his followers, but there is no scope for those who have evil intentions. They have the capacity like the sea.

We will have to make decision in our own selves and give sincere replies how we ourselves are? Are our acts and character satisfactory for the Imam? Are we sincere with his holy being? Are we not making the mistake of regarding ourselves on self-made rank of piety? Is the other believer satisfied with us. Have we fulfilled the right of Imam (a.s.) and consumed lawful sustenance? Are we lamenting his health and well being? Do we illuminate every gathering with his mention? We will have to take our account that how much we love our Imam. Can we fully dedicate ourselves to that infallible? We would have to evaluate our days and nights, that our worship is not devoid of his remembrance? Is there some pain of his separation in our heart? Revenger of Kerbala sheds tears of blood. How restless he is! Do we share this distress of his!?

The Light of Reappearance explained by Sheikh Shabbar Mehdi, with English Subtitles

Sheikh Shabbar Mehdi discusses one verse from the Qur'an - Surah Zumar, verse 69:

..وَأَشْرَقَتِ الْأَرْضُ بِنُورِ رَبِّهَا
"And the earth will shine with the Noor (Light) of its Lord..."

According to a narrations from Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (A.S):
‘Al-Mufazzal Bin Umar who heard Abu Abdullah (A.S) saying regarding the Words of the Exalted: "And the earth will shine with the Noor (Light) of its Lord" [39:69], The Lord of the earth, means the Imam (A.S) of the earth’.

I said, ‘So what would happen when he (A.S) comes out (of ghaybah)?’
Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (A.S) said: ‘Then the people would be needless of the illumination of the sun and the light of the moon, and they would be going by the Noor (Light) of the Imam (A.S).
